For one thing the ranking democrat on the Intelligence Committee adam schiff wants republicans to agree to reschedule hearings that had been set for yesterday. S. The Washington Post reported the white house sought to block yates from testifying. That claim press Secretary Sean Spicer rejected. On the 24th miss yates attorney sent a letter to the white House Counsel requesting that consent specifically stating that if they did not receive a response by march 27th at 10 00 a. M. At least one way or another. I want you to listen to senators back and forth on the gorsuch nomination. Were going to get judge gorsuch confirmed. It will be an opportunity for the democrats to invoke cloture. Well see where that ends. It will be up to them how the process to confirm judge gorsuch goes forward. Its going to be a real uphill climb for him to get those 60 votes. Its such an important position it should have bipartisan buy in. If a judge cant meet a nominee cant meet the 60 vote standard you dont change the rules. I can remember in the sotomayor hearings, Lindsey Graham said it was the president s prerogative when you win the house you get to put the person you want in the Supreme Court if theres a vacancy. Nine republicans voted for her. Over this proceeding, merritt garlands name is hanging. Reporter thats right. This is another one where democrats they are really going to want to hold the line and send a message about merritt garland. We havent seen that Many Democrats say that they would, i think two have said they would support at least cutting off debate on gorsuch and they will need eight. I would point out that walter jones, as an individual congressman is somebody who has broken with his party on a number of things, including on national security. So he probably doesnt speak for most of them in that regard. Well talk about Health Care Reform if we can. I thought this was dead ground and now were seeing these green shoots where the president is talking about, he would be open to restarting this health care negotiation. Whether its tax reform, funding the government or health care or neal gorsuch confirmation, what does it reveal about future efforts to work with demonstrate that it appears no democrats are going to step forward and say we will support gorsuch, and that so many are stepping forward to say we will filibuster his nomination. One woman we met, in fact, was staying behind because she was waiting, hoping that her husband somehow would return to her because he had been taken away by isis the day before this area was liberated. You have these stories of the nightmares that the civilians are going through. As the iraqis and americans continue to try to push forward, trying to minimize the trauma, the casualties among the civilian population that has to be taken and factored in to a much greater degree for us.
