Ive always hated a monday morning quarterback, in sports, and also when the American People and their lives are on the line. Youre the person in the oval office with the biggest platform, everyone would have stopped to hear you speak. If you wanted more money for people, you should have said something. Instead, you have a president rip van winkle who said, oh, did you want me to sign something . Its infuriating. If it werent so tragic, you could ponder it. But this is something in realtime, people are affected. Theyre wondering why. And i cant stand a johnny come lately. Extending any timeline of pain is unforgivable. But its too true, laura coates, and ill be watching. Thank you. I cant wait for the surprise tomorrow as well. I just have to figure out what it is now. Spoken like a true parent. This is cnn tonight, im laura coates in for don lemon. Twas a few nights before christmas, and all through the white house, breaking news. President trump signaling he may not sign the 900 billion covid relief bill, demanding congress amend it after sitting on the sidelines doing nothing for weeks. If not months, frankly. Calling the planned 600 payment ridiculously low, demanding it be raised to 2,000 per person, or 4,000 per couple. Democrats said, we agree. Bring it on. This comes after President Trump issued a series of pardons, to corrupt congressmen, admitted lia liars, and convicted killers of innocent civilians during wartime. With that business handled, trump lashed out to republicans he believes are disloyal, including south dakotas john thune, the senates number two gop leader. Hes on record saying the senate needs to sign off on joe bidens election win, and trump calling john thune weak. And reporting that trump is increasingly disrustful of longtime allies like mike pence, mark meadows, mike pompeo, and Mitch Mcconnell. One senior republican telling cnn, were watching a petulant child not getting his way, throwing a tantrum. Some becoming increasingly alarmed in his behavior, and what he may do to try to overturn the election results. There are 29 days left in his presidency, and all of that happened in a few hours. Lets go to jeremy diamond, mark mckinnon, and ellie honig. Lets start with you, jeremy, we have a wave of controversial pardons. Theyre talking about he may not sign the covid relief bill. Hes lashing out at republicans who arent supporting him. For somebody in their lame duck presidency, theres a lot happening all at once. What is going on over there at that building behind you . Yeah, i think theres a few things going on. But at the core is really an attempt by the president to try and exert what little power he still has left as a lame duck president. Whether the pardons hes doing, which only the president of the United States can do, and he still is the president of the United States. Whether its the attempt to say, i will not sign this piece of legislation unless you amend it. All of these things are attempts by the president to exert the power he has left. But ultimately, these are showing the limits of his power, because congress isnt going to amend the legislation. The president is making this push and yet its only going to hand him yet another loss in a string of losses that the president has been suffering since election day. And the second thing this represents is the president seeking attention, the limelight, as its going away from him. Joe biden assembling his cabinet, Holding Press Conferences on television, and the president is looking for a way to try to steal back some of the limelight in any way he can. And hes doing it by setting things on fire and starting controversies. Imagine who really deserves the attention right now. Mark, the people at home are really trying to get the attention. Thats what the stimulus bill is about. Well remind people why we didnt have a stimulus bill until last night. And by the way, what has the president been doing in the meantime . This is not somehow just starting yesterday. This has been going on for months. What gives . I like your analogy of rip van winkle. Its like hes been asleep for a year, its what the democrats were proposing a year ago. To step out now, after the deal is done by his people, we would think with his imrimatur, it was the secretary of the treasury who cut the deal. So to suggest that the deal can be redone, first of all, it wont be. This is just an attempt on the part of donald trump to get some credit. He should have just stepped in and said, finally we came together, get some bipartisan credit, and sign the deal. There are multiple opportunities where he could have had feathers in his cap. Operation warp speed, two vaccines. And the relief funding. But instead, hes lashing out at mcconnell, hes warning the number two gop senator, john thu thune, that hell be primaried. At some point, does rip van winkle realize its time to go down the hill . This would be the time to get some credit for the deal, and say, hey, thanks to me, youre getting this relief. Instead, hes saying it wasnt enough. I havent been part of this deal. See you later. Elie, let me bring you in. Were in a bit of a hamster wheel, we expected a little bit of these pardons, the political pardons. Talk to me a little bit about them. Two are for men who pleaded guilty in muellers investigation. Papadopoulos, he was at some point known as an errand boy or a coffee boy. Are these an abuse of power . I dont think we knew it would be this bad, this early. Is an abuse of power . Yes. Is it constitutional . Yes, because the pardon power is so broad. But these pardons fall into three groups. The first is what you just said. Some of these remaining defendants from the mueller investigation, i think theyre unjust. But when you get into the members of congress, outright crooks, thieves, whose only qualification for a pardon is the word republican before their title. Collins, hunter. And then convicted war criminals, convicted by a jury of murdering civilians. If thats not an injustice, i dont know what is. The pardon power can be used to pro pro promote justice, but donald trump is using it for opposite purposes. And on the screen, the viewers are looking at people who were involved in a massacre of civilians. Children were harmed as part of that. And the idea of not only pardoning the four blackwater guards convicted in connection to an iraqi massacre, this is supposedly the law and order president. Talking about the rule of law, this throws it out the window. Members of congress committing some of these offenses, i believe at one point on white house grounds, this is the executive branch doling out things that make you say, i beg your pardon . The law and order president is a joke at this point. And heres the thing. I think hes just getting warmed up. Its december 22nd, he has 20something more days in office. If we think this is it and hes done, think again. I think hes setting the stage for even more dramatic, selfserving pardons. Im looking at rudy giuliani, steve bannon, certainly at his family members, his children, other members of the trump org. And i dont know about this line, but will he attempt to pardon himself . Buckle up. There is more to come for sure. It took all i had not to just quote pacino and say, im just getting warmed up. Jeremy, you reported about the volume of pardon requests the white house is getting. All the people with their hands out. Were no doubt going to see a lot more. And is this an indication that he understands that his time in the white house is nearly up . Normally, the pardons come in the waning days of a presidency, right . Thats the great irony, you wouldnt be doing a slate of controversial pardons if you were planning to have another four years in office. But the president is tacitly acknowledging his time in office is coming to an end. But at the same time, hes refusing publicly and privately to acknowledge the results of this election. What the pardons come down to is the notion its coming down to, attempting to exert any power hes got. And some of the things the allies are using, theyre telling the president , you are the only person with the power to do this. Please grant this pardon. Mark, there are a lot of reports, speaking of allies, there is a lot of consternation and surprise from republicans on capitol hill. I hear the word surprise, i think about behavior that was unpredictable. Is this a bit of pearl clutching and feigning surprise . Are they really surprised at this point . Well, how many days of the Trump Presidency have we said we couldnt be more surprised, and the next day something happens. These pardons, particularly the congressmen who are clearly corrupt, theyre convicted criminals of high crimes, financial crimes, selfdealing. It doesnt get any swampier than this. And pardons are supposed to be correct an injustice, to right a wrong. Theres none of that here, this is cementing an injustice. They could have commuted their sentences, hes pardoning them. Hes saying its okay. And what did they do to deserve this . They endorsed donald trump. This is party over country, and loyalty over everything else. One heck of a playbook to follow, and its good to be the king. Thank you for your time, gentlemen. I appreciate it. Thanks. White house officials are telling cnn its scary, and no one is sure where this is heading in trumps final days in office. Ill talk to john kasich about that, next. News of the world is a towering piece of moviemaking. We will get you away from all this pain. Its soulful and stirring. And tom hanks is magnificent. Its hard finding your way home. Our breaking news, President Trump signaling he might not sign the massive covid relief bill. Now demanding changes. Also, issuing a series of pardons with just 29 days left in his presidency. And now lashing out at gop allies. Joining me now, john kasich, the former republican governor of ohio. I think i certainly have the right person tonight to talk about this, because you have pardons, hes talking about not signing the covid relief bill. Lashing out at Republican Leadership for not supporting him. What were seeing right now, some call it a tantrum. What do you see . Well, when it comes to the pardons, as a former governor, you know, i had the ability to do them. I went through them very carefully, trying to create a sense of justice where i thought there wasnt any. But president s have the power of pardons. Until congress would mute it or take it away or whatever, they have the power to do it. And i think your guest earlier said, get ready. Because i think theres more coming. In terms of his attacking members, you know, look, i think you said it, there are things he can celebrate. He can celebrate the fact that they passed a bill that will get some help to people. He could celebrate that. But its just i dont understand it. Because politically it doesnt make a lot of sense. On the hack, the cyber attack on the United States, hes downplayed it. Said it may not be russia. Everybody else in the world is saying its russia. This is a chance for him to stand up and be strong in protecting the country. That is something that will fall into joe bidens lap. And he hasnt done that. I cant do a calculation with the guy. But remember, i didnt support him when he ran the first time. I was hoping he was going to do well. He didnt do well. I spoke at the democratic convention, none of this surprises me. This is what i was worried about. Nothing to this extreme, but i was concerned about these things, and unfortunately theyve happened. Its hard to be able to predict all that has happened. Its impossible. The idea of a president running through the tape, even after they had lost, which we usually see with transitions. But talking about your ability as governor to give clemency and pardons, and the calculations involved with trying to correct wrongs. Some are predictable, like people involved with the russia probe. But what about pardoning the war criminals, at the time when the president elect is trying to restore americas global standing. What message does this send to the world, when the president of the United States says, war criminal . Youre pardoned. I think its not only its that issue, which is a serious issue. I dont know all the details in that case, but its extremely serious. And the fact that he isnt responding to the cyber attack, he should be bringing the world into that. And you see him denying the results of an election, what has bothered me, there are a lot of people around the world who look at america, and look how long it took for leaders in congress to come along. People in the world used to say, we admire what is going on in america, but today they say, i dont think we want any of what america is doing. And joe biden will have to reassure people that america is back. And i think the way in which this happens, forget the washington stuff. Start thinking about what you can do in your community to bring justice, to improve the lives of other people. Thats what has made america strong. The public itself. Stop fighting about whether trump won or lost. Lets dig in, of course he lost the election. But can we put that aside . Its christmas, people are hungry. Can we get them food, stand up for a family that doesnt have enough money to buy presents for their kids . Those are the things that help bring us together, and can help raise us again in terms of people understanding the heart of america. Im sad to say that, but i think its true. Its also difficult for the average american electorate, theyre asked by people who run for office for the opportunity to lead. Can you please choose me . Congressmen who have been pardoned, one who misused public funds, one who committed securities fraud. Youre asking the American People to start from the ground, but the people theyve chosen to lead have been derelict in their duties. What do you tell americans who said, i thought part of my civic duty was choosing people to lead who could solve problems. What do they think now . Recently, weve been disappointed about what has been happening in congress. I made a lot of speeches last year. I suggested to people, who would you miss more, the secretary of state or the trash man if they went on vacation . We study the history of the country, the civil rights movement, it came from the people in the streets, not from the top down. Womens suffrage came from the bottom up. Ending the vietnam war, that came from the bottom up, not the top down. So we cant get too depressed and worry about what the heck is going on in that place. Its important in some very important respects. But the strength of our country does not lie in that capital. It lies in the homes and communities across our great land. Yeah, theres frustration. We all get upset. And i say, okay, move beyond that, and think about what you can do to be a center of justice. That is what gives us purpose in life. I appreciate the sentiment. I believe in the optimism. But as much as power i know you believe in this. But the power of the purse, to be quite frank, is in the capitol. As much as the people would like to speak truth to power in the way youre talking about, theres a lot of power concentrated in washington, d. C. And the stimulus relief package is just one notion of how it can feel very futile to the average person who is trying to be that center of justice, when theyre trying to make ends meet, and theres no rope. And the president is lashing out. I want to just make this point, the president is lashing out at anyone he sees as being disloyal, including mcconnell and the number two republican. Both individuals wield a great deal of power that can create hurdles for the average american. Democrats as well, of course, right . Well, laura, youre right about that. But i have a different theory about all of this. I think the republicans should have been standing up to him from day one. You know, thats what they should have been doing. And telling him, were not putting up with this. But for some reason, they cower to him. Had the republicans in the congress stood up to him from day one and said, were not going to accept these tweets, the kind of stuff you said after charlottesville, were not going to put up with this. If youre mad at us, tough. But they didnt do it. They ran away. And i think its, you know, they enabled him to do the things hes been doing. And i dont understand it. Because when i was in the congress, and i was there for 18 years, we were a ragtag group of people who could fight leaders and tell truth to power. It wasnt perfect, but we changed the welfare system, and other things, and if the establishment didnt like it, we went ahead and did it. And ive been disappointed in the fact that politicians today are too worried about their own futures and not enough about the country. Then they gerrymander the districts so you cant beat them. We need significant change in the political institutions, and i think both parties have let us down. If they dont get their act together, there may be another party. And we could talk together about what that may look like. Are you my running mate are are you the front runner . Its you. Lets hope the parties can be saved, and they can get together. Look, this package they just passed, it does have significant aid to Small Business and families. It helps people to keep in their houses without being thrown out on the streets. Theres many good things in there, and we should celebrate that at the end, they got it together, and people will have help. And donald trump wont veto this. He just wont do it. I told you, youre the right person to speak to tonight. Governor, i appreciate it. Merry christmas, and happy holiday. Thank you. Merry christmas, happy new year. And president elect joe biden is warning americans that the darkest days of the covid19 pandemic are still ahead of us. I want to bring in jeff zeleny, who has been covering the biden transition. Jeff, youre always available, always so helpful to break this down. President elect biden, he offered a sober look at the tough days ahead, and he didnt mince words. What did you hear at that News Conference . The contrast couldnt have been more stark between what weve seen all day at the white house and here with president elect joe biden. He said, im going to tell it to you straight, and the darker days are ahead in the wintertime of the pandemic. The rising hospitalizations and deaths. But he said the promise of the vaccine will bring good news. But it was a leadership moment at one point, but also some very direct talk weve not heard from our leaders in a while. But we also pressed him on what congress can do next year. He said this is just a down payment, this 900 billion covid relief package. He said theyre going to have to do so much more. So we asked him, how . Given the narrow majorities in the house and senate, youve watched many administrations come and go. Do you believe youll have a honeymoon to get things accomplished . Its not a honeymoon. Theyre not doing me a favor. He said, theyre not going to vote for a bill just because of joe biden, giving me a pass. He believes republicans and democrats will come together because they need action. He believes with leadership, they can work on some bills, and adding an infrastructure plan into that, adding some jobs. And he also slammed President Trump over his inaction on the cyber attack. Tell us more about that moment. He absolutely did. This is the first time were heard president elect joe biden talk about the cyber attack. He said President Trump has been negligent, and this happened on his watch. He stopped short of outright blaming the russian government and putin. He clearly did not want to get ahead of the one president at a time moment. But he said all signs point to that. He said that mike pompeo and other Republican Leaders have all but said this is russia. He did not give up what he intends to do, but he promised he would discover how deep these intrusions were, and they would act after hes president. But by drawing attention to this, it was extraordinary. And again, on a day of contrasts to the outgoing president and the incoming president , this was one more of them, laura. The president elect has his work cut out for him. Thank you, jeff. Indeed. Days away from two runoff races that will determine which Party Controls the senate. Just days away. So can democrats pull out wins . Well, one candidate, jon ossoff, joins me live, next. E curbside p at walmart. You can get the perfect gift up until the last minute. Lets end the year nailing it. Nizuc is a world to discover unto itself, day or night, indoors or out. Something wonderful awaits. President trump threatening to veto the massive 900 billion covid relief bill. Trump wants to increase checks for americans from 600 to 2,000. Nancy pelosi says shed like that, too. But what about the rest of congress . It took months just to reach this deal. And what happens in congress after the new year depends entirely on what happens in the two georgia runoff elections that will determine control of the senate. Joining me now, one of the Democratic Georgia Senate candidates, jon ossoff. Welcome to the show. Thank you. Youre running to be a senator, and i want to get your reaction to this breaking news. Because the president is upending the stimulus bill that was just reached, hes saying its a disgrace. Youre on record that you had voted for it. But are you in agreement with President Trump on this issue now . 600 is a joke. Families have credit cards maxed out, unable to afford prescriptio prescriptions, rent, car payments. And the senate has blocked this bill for months. Just like perdue and mcconnell blocked it, and just like they cut payments to 600, they will block the covid relief we need in the new year if they hold on to power. They will block civil rights and Voting Rights legislation. I urge the United States congress to pass additional direct stimulus payments of 2,000 to americans right now. People are hurting. Its the holidays. Theres been eight months of inaction. They need to get real about the suffering of the people, and get direct relief to the people. Sounds like President Trump is right, its just that he came too late, is that what youre saying . I dont know where President Trump has been for the last eight months while his allies in the u. S. Senate have been blocking this relief. President trump is as ever erratic and all over the place. But on this point, tonight, hes right. 600 is a joke. They should send 2,000 checks to the American People right now because people are hurting. And david perdue, who opposed even the first round of 1,200 checks, imagine a sitting u. S. Senator who was profiting from the pandemic, opposed the checks, obstructed direct relief for eight months, and then cut it to 600. Congress should pass 2,000 checks, and they should have done it two months ago. You voted today in your own runoff election. The question, i see you on the screen, how do you intend the close the gap, to emerge as the victor here . Were running the most aggressive and potent ground game in the history of senate races. We are knocking on tens of thousands of doors per day, making hundreds of thousands of phone calls per day. Were getting outspent by 80 million in georgia. We fully expect to be outspent on the airwaves, but go online and help us get out the vote. David perdue wants to purge the rolls, throw out the votes cast by eligible georgia voters. And im asking for the support of people across the country to fight back and generate record turnout to win these races. On the issue of turnout, everyone is thinking, we know about the turnouts in november, how so many people turned out to vote, even in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Now we have a surge in cases. What impact will that have now, compared to november . How can they be assured that its safe . Is it early voting, are you hoping for the turnout to still match . This is why i want to encourage people to vote early, and take advantage of early voting opportunities in georgia right now, which continue through new years eve. I voted today. The lines were short. The staff was doing a great job of keeping people safe. Take advantage of the early voting opportunities so we can keep our poll watchers, our poll workers, and each other safe on january 5th, election day. Im so glad you mentioned the poll workers and watchers. In georgia, theyve been under attack by so many, talking about the alleged widespread fraud that weve seen zero evidence of. But one thing is very clear, and president elect joe biden released a new ad saying, he understands he needs you. He needs Raphael Warnock in the senate, and that could mean that Mitch Mcconnell would be the minority leader, not the majority leader. But dont republicans have just as much of an interest . What do you say to voters wondering if they should make a difference in the other direction . Look what just happened with the battle over Economic Relief. Its mcconnell and his allies like david perdue who obstructed direct relief for eight months, and slashed it in half to a meager 600 when people are hurting. Thats what they will do. They will obstruct and block legislation urgently needed by the American People in a moment of crisis. Donald trump is leaving. We have the opportunity to define the next era in our history, and we should be ambitious. We need to beat this virus, get every American Free testing and vaccines. Get direct Economic Relief to the people. Invest in infrastructure and clean energy, to rebuild the economy. Pass landmark civil rights and Voting Rights legislation. There is so much good work to do. I want people to feel excited about what is possible when we reunite this country, and get things done for the people. But to do that, we need to win the senate races. Or mcconnell will try to block everything, no matter what. Because hes ruthless and cares only about power for its own sake. Georgia remains in all of our minds. All eyes on georgia right now. Thank you so much, jon ossoff. Thank you for being a partov of the show today. Thank you. Trump is saying he wants to up the amount of money in stimulus checks to 2,000. And nancy pelosi agrees with that. But lets check the record on who threw a wrench in negotiations before the election. Weve got the receipts, up next. May your holidays glow bright and all your dreams take flight. Visit your local mercedesbenz dealer today for exceptional lease and financing offers at the mercedesbenz winter event. A history. We have different needs and challenges. But one thing we share is wanting to make our lives the best they can be. If you have medicaid and medicare, a dual complete plan from unitedhealthcare can help. Giving you more benefits at no extra cost to you. And oneonone help managing your care. To get you the help you need, whatever your story may be. With dual complete from unitedhealthcare, theres more for you. It inspired me to become a doctor. Then covid hit. No one has ever seen anything like covid. You feel hopeless. My best friends father died of covid19. Then my father caught it. Wearing a mask, washing your hands. Sacrifice those things now. You have the power to protect the ones you love. The publics condemnation of members of Congress Getting the vaccine before them has been swift. Its even more profound for the members who downplayed the various to the detriment of the public. I understand, and its not just about a literal vaccine. Its about the frustration of always waiting for your shot. Your shot at the american dream. Your chance to be inoculated against hardship, poverty, and injustice. The shot that protects your children, your chance to thrive. Its not just the vaccine. Its about the feeling that everyone else seems to be deemed more worthy, their problems more urgent, their lives mattering more. Being told to wait your turn is belittling, infuriating. Reverend dr. Martin luther king jr. s letter from a birmingham jail captured that sentiment. Wait is a word with piercing familiarity. I understand the impatience when your dignity, when your life is on the line. And those that dont understand that by now, well, perhaps they never will. I understand the need to shout. So shout. But get the vaccine. Decry any system that places the haves above the have nots. But decry it while youre getting the vaccine. Write, call, or even vote your congressperson out for their action or inaction. But write, call, and vote while youre getting the vaccine. Protest, plead, petition the government for redress of your grievances. But protest, plead, petition, while youre getting the vaccine. Demand respect and equality, including the equitable distribution of health care or the vaccine itself. But do it while a vaccine distributes antibodies through your system. Democratically strongarm those complicit in human suffering. But do it with the vaccine in your own arm. There is hypocrisy. There is unfairness. And bureaucracies are not for the faint of heart. The American People were told time and again, this year alone, to vote like your life depends on it. And you listened. Because it did. So lets turn out like that for the vaccine. And the idea that your life depends on it is not a political talking point. Your life actually does depend on it. And my life depends on it. And when its my turn, even after i have to impatiently wait for the vaccine, i am not throwing away my shot. Up next, will americans get the relief they need . Congresswoman Sheila Jackson lee tells us what she thinks about trumps lastminute demands. Still fresh. Unstopables inwash scent booster. Downy unstopables. Breaking tonight, President Trump signalling he will not sign the Coronavirus Relief bill passed by Congress Unless it amends the massive spending legislation. He calls the bill a disgrace. Send me a suitable bill or else the next administration will have to deliver a covid relief package, and maybe that administration will be me and get it done. Remember, the president was the one to call off relief negotiations just before the election. He said he would get back to after he won. Well, the president lost. And ever since, he has been holed up in the white house m. I. A. From relief negotiations. What the president has been occupied with is the will of the people, and now he is looking to hold up relief for millions, millions of americans, joining me is congress lee, a democrat. After all the work, all the grid lock, months and months, the president now coming up and posturing in this way. It feels outrageous. You know, laura, this morning after presiding over part of that debate, and the moment i landed, i joined more than one Food Distribution sites where americans were lined up car after car after car getting groceries, getting food. Getting necessity, getting toys because of the desperate conditions theyre in. Over six months ago, democrats placed on the table a 3 trillion package that would have saved lives, would have a stop gap to food insecurity, and the president was m. I. A. He was nowhere to be found. He was not interested. He didnt engage and his friends in the United States senate have a red stop sign in front of the American People. We opened the floor yesterday, Speaker Pelosi spoke eloquently at the beginning of the day about coming together, about speaking for the American People and doing for the American People. I am outraged and its sad to be outraged in the midst of this blessed Holiday Season that the president would come to interject on something that we fought so hard to get a cash dispersement. He didnt help us. We managed to get 600 because republicans stopped it and he is still fighting the fact that he is not going to be the president of the United States come january 20th. What i i know that phrase, i want to point out. The phrase, we managed to get 600 is an irony in this. Because he is saying he wants the payments from 600 think i think every member of Congress Agrees its not going to stimulate the economy. Its a bandaid. But he wants to up it to 2,000 a person, and Speaker Pelosi tweeted support for that. Even though, we know that this is not possible, according to what we heard on capitol hill. So where do we stand right now . Even the prospect of that number increasing, even though its what democrats wanted to take place in the first instance. We offered that way back five months ago, youre absolutely right. So many of us have documentation saying we want 2,000 or 2500. But the numbers were high. What we see now is simply a banished man who has left the public scene. He has advocated duties and now its a moment for him to again take the stage and such an illfated manner. And as the speaker said, say what it is and we will do it been unanimous consent to put it on the floor. Bring senator mcconnell to the table and you can be sure that democrats, who will be first to stand up for the American People, will be there and we will vote on Christmas Day if its necessary. This is about him. Remember the phrase he just said. And ill be the president to make it happen. It is a week weeks of seething sulks and finding ways to break the rules of law, and now desperate people, desperately in need of food, and he is playing with families with children, and food. I dont think we have it. The American People shouldnt have it. We want more than 600 and we heard president elect biden say when he is in office, we will go back to the the table gamagain. The president was absent. He talked about blue cities and red states and his republican friends said the same. In the midst of this beautiful Holiday Season, we came home to give to the American People, and now we have someone isolated in the white house who wants to interject what americans cannot understand. But at the same time, congresswoman, i want to get your thoughts on this quickly. Sorry to interrupt you, he is preoccupied with something. He is signing something. He is siden pardons. Not checks to americans but pardons, and members that have been accused of crimes. Let alone war criminals. What do you say about the partens. You have duncan hunter, steve stockton, and those in a massacre in iraq, and the russia probe. What is your reaction to the wave of pardons and the eye lens on the stimulus bill . Well, they run down the same track absolutely. And the reason is because we understand that the pardon power is absolute by president s. But all americans understand it is an act of mercy for someone who is believing or knowing that they are repentdiing or seeking forgiveness or they have done things to be warrant a pardon. We see a breach of the rule of law, and a sulking individual who Takes Center Stage to do things that no other president has done in the history of the United States. The litany of pardons, and the people in america. And the pardon power is a sacred power. It should be given in mercy where someone offers a repenitence. I cannot kmeant on all of them. But i will say if you look at them on the whole, the president has just taken this to put himself on the national stage. And he doesnt care how it looks. Whether it is an illfated look or whether or not its a look of dignity and oppose the office of the presidency of the United States. But the worst thing he has done is to throw dirt in the faces of these families, give them a sense of hopelessness because he doesnt have a solution to get to 2,000, which we would have gladly done and stood with him months ago, and in the election when he pulled his whole team away from negotiations to help these families. Lets help the families now. Congresswoman, i appreciate your time and i applaud the vigor with which you represent the people. Well be right back. Thank you.
