So serious hes canceling his planned visit to den mark scheduled for the end of next week because a dannish Prime Minister doesnt want to sell him the largest island in the world with a population of more than 56,000 because she says, quote, thankfully the time where you buy and sell other countries and populations is over. The president tweeting, of course tweeting denmark is a very special country with incredible people but based on Prime Minister mette comments that she would have no interest indousest zgsi indousest discussing the purchase, i thank her for that and look forward to rescheduling some time in the future. Well, he sure has changed his tune since he said this. This was over the weekend. So the concept came up and i said certainly id be strategically its interesting and wed be interested. But well talk to them a little bit. Its not number one on the burner, i can tell you that. Not number one on the burner, but hes willing to cancel an official visit to a nato ally . Hes willing to take his bat and his ball and just go home . This president wants to convince you hes a tough guy so hes picking a fight with greenland. He wants to convince you that he is a tough guy. Its why he is consistently following strategy, the strategy of dividing america, of trying to pit us against each other. Just listen to what he says about congresswoman Rashida Tlaib and ilhan omar, and about jewishamericans who vote for democrats. Where has the Democratic Party gone, where have they gone where theyre defending these two people over the state of israel . Frankly, we need intelligent background checks, okay . This isnt a question of nra, republican or democrat. Background checks. That was then. Now hes caving. Even though 90 of those surveyed in a fox news poll last week, 90 , fox news, 90 fox news support background checks on all gun buyers. A source confirming the president had a conversation with the nras Wayne Lepierre today and told him background checks were off the table. We have very, very strong background checks right now, but we have sort of missing areas and areas that dont complete the whole circle. And have to tell you it is a mental problem and ive said it a hundred times its not the gun that pulls the trigger, its the person that pulls the trigger. These are sick people and it is also that kind of a problem. And were looking at mental institutions which we used to have. And speaking of nra talking points, there is this. A lot of the people that put me where i am are strong believers in the Second Amendment, and i am also. And we have to be very careful about that. You know they call it the slippery slope and all of a sudden everything gets taken away. Were not going to let that happen. Remember when then candidate trump said this about Second Amendment people. Hillary wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment. And by the way if she gets to pick if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people maybe there is, i dont know. This is president who will cave to the nra every single time. He did it after 17 students and their teachers were shot to death in parkland, florida. Hes doing it again now. He also caved on china. Even though he is talking like a tough guy. I am doing this whether its good or bad for your statement about, oh, will we fall into a recession for two months, okay . The fact is somebody had to take china and my life would be a lot easier if i didnt take china on, but i have to do it because i like doing it, and were getting great results. Tough guy. President trump had been expected to visit denmark late last week but thats no longer happening. Its hard to believe the reasoning here. Tell us why. Yeah, don its basically because denmark is reluctant to sell him greenland. The president had brought this up several times according to white house sources. This is something he was taking seriously. On the face of it it wouldnt be crazy for the United States to try Something Like this considering greenland has tremendous strategic implications and theres already a u. S. Military base there. What isnt clear is exactly why the president thought it was up for grabs, why he thought it was for sale. The danish Prime Minister made clear this story was absurd. She even said i hope this is not meant seriously. Apparently President Trump was taking it very seriously because hes not going to denmark altogether. He wrote, quote, den mark is a special country with incredible people but based on Prime Ministers comments she would have no interest in discussing the purchase of greenland i will be postponing our meetings scheduled for another time. The Prime Minister was able to spare a griet grait deal of expense and effort for denmark for being so direct. I thank her for that and look forward to schedule some time in the future. Some of the president s surrogates and suggested he was joke about all this. I dont think we realized the extent it was going to blow up and turn into this International Incident where the president cancels his trip. Obviously theres been a lot thats happened since then with both leaders of greenland and denmark coming out condemning theyre saying they hope its a joke, greenland is not for sale. And theyve really doubled down on this notion President Trump is basically putting out there, this antiquated Foreign Policy outlook where he thinks a sovereign can buy a country from another sovereign. Its very sort of late 19th century, early 20th century idea. And even then denmark said, no, were not going to sell greenland. Since then obviously theres a new world order and a lot of the European Countries that have been reacting said that is not how things work, but President Trump obviously doubling down today and saying hes very serious about it, and so serious hes not going to denmark if theyre not willing to discuss. Heres what the danish Prime Minister said yesterday. So the Prime Minister standing up for denmark saying its not for sale, theres no for sale signon greenland. Is this why hes canceling his trip the is this his whole reason for going there . Certainly his tweets suggest if she isnt wailing to talk about this thing, hes not going to go. We have a headline on the Washington Post right now that says trump cancels his trip because denmark wont sell him greenland. Is this the onion . Its astonishing. Can you believe were actually discussing this . This is guy who spent 30 years trying to buy real estate. He gets into the white house, he wants to do something splashy because thats sort of his nature and he says theres this land with resources, lets try and buy all of that. And even this move tonight is the sort of thing he does in the art of the deal. Oh, theyre not going to come to the table, im going to walk away first. Its all very trump organization, donald trump. He wants a big land deal . He thinks in terms of whats the big slashy thing i can do, i can buy some big bit of real estate. Slar people involved here. This idea of electability, we know what his electability is, people that can energize our base, black and brown voters, suburban voters, rural voters. He doesnt use his power wisely . No, its to his development, to the development of american society, to the american citizen, to the global citizen. Every time his mouth opens he reduces American Power around the world. Listen, youve been saying you want a coalition of people around you to sort of primary basically this president , right . Im very confident hell be primaried and no ones going to make those announcements until after hes saying, okay, listen i want to go up against him, im not sure hes going to decide on labor day. How do you convince someone like that . Well, i think the primary note is the conventional wisdom if you go into a primary youre like a republican crash dummy but the president has a very tired script, its a bullying script. He says the same thing about everybody. He didnt know this person, this person is a flat slob, its tired now. Youre in your third or Fourth Season of it and its sort of very, very tired. In your last rally he didnt have the same energy he knows people hate him. When hes in the rally hes saying you love me or hate me, youre going to vote your 401k, but the American People love the 401x. And maybe theres a group that love the 401k more than america, the majority of americans are looking at the situation. Theyre going to go to bed tonight and say is this right. Let me step back. But to take a stimulus measure like cutting the payroll tax or demanding that the fed lower Interest Rates, the economy is still reasonably good, although slower, what do you do when we actually do hit a recession and if we take those steps now .
