And has actress monique been blackballed in hollywood . If you believe this is llama drama, wait until you see this llama making the cnn debut. Live pictures right now. We will get to all of that tonight, but i want to begin with the breaking news that fears that four teens have run away from their homes in canada to join isis. Paula newton joins me with more. And the first question is what is the latest . Well, don at least four and possibly more. Officials are trying to determine exactly what they are dealing with. The families out of montreal saying they had gone missing in january. Officials believe they went to turkey but they had their sights joining isis in turkey. The counterparts are working to find out what happened to these people, and hay were very young, and don, the families dont know how or when they were radicalized, and they are trying to piece it together. And especially if you look at the brutality since january of isis and the fact that the young people showed desire to go there to join this group is shocking to the families here in canada and in the last few months they have been trying to revoke the passports of people they are suspecting to go overseas to commit terrorist acts or join terrorist groups, but it did not happen in this case, and the people with experience in canada saying that we want these passports to be are revoke vocced so that this does not happen. Paula newton in canada. I want to bring in a terrorist expert and jihadist expert. And now, you know how this happen and is canada a breeding ground for jihadists, and in canada and especially for teenagers . Moshgs it is not a no, it is not a breeding ground, but it is a diaspora where this resides. You will get clusters out of canada australia, and europe and france and america as well. There are report has the teens may have been inspired or radicalized by a teacher. Is this common . Well, it is not uncommon for a professor or a selfprofessed scholar or charismatic scholar. And thank you. We have learned the real name of jihadi john who has been shown in isis videos showing beheadings. Reporter he sis the killer menacingly brandishing a knife in the executions of hasostages james foley, peter kasic and many more. My knife will execute the next of your people. Reporter r and now he is identified as Mohammed Emwazi a British National born in kuwait but raised in london. He is a top terror target. In the mind of the president , he se ranking high on the list, because that individual is responsible for the killings of innocent american ss. Reporter he is dubbed a number of the killers after the beatles. John stood for john lennon and then the british tabloids added jihadi. He is from a well off pamly, and earning a degree in technology from the college of technology and enjoyed a life of privilege. Today, one of the former teachers said she never saw signs of his future as a terrorist. Sgli i am absolutely socked that it is him. It is just 100 miles away from where i thought that he ought to have been at the this stage in his life. This knife will become your nightmare. Reporter intelligence agents have been poring over the videos and images since the first video. Emwazis friends say that his path to radicalization may have begun in 2009 when he traveled to tanzania to go on a safari, but he was desane and traveled to the u. K. Ta believe that he his true intention was to go to sewomalia. Then he was detained again and gone to somalia. And then he detained again in 2010 and went to syria in 2012. The entire strategy in the last 13 years has increased alienation and only increased people feeling like they dont belong. Reporter the u. S. Intelligence has now increased the estimate of the americans who have either gone to syria and iraq to the fight or attempted to go to 180 which is up from 50 last year a significant increase. I am told that the lawmakers on capitol hill received a briefing on the suspected americans who have joined the group isis which is of course a grave concern here. They are very concerned about isis recruiting power here in the u. S. Don . Thank you, jim sciutto. I want to bring in michael german, a former fbi agent, and thinking like isis the life of an undercover agent, and also michael mcfadden, and also mu p bin shaikh and michael, first to you, we were worried about three men from brooklyn and today, jihadi john and you work with terror cell and what makes this them tick . Each story is individual. There sis a lot of Different Things that push and pull somebody into engaging into this type of e behavior. One of the things to consider as well is that these are not necessarily the same type of behavior. What would drive somebody to join isil and to be involve mdd in the horrendous murdrs might be different p from somebody who might want to go the syria to fight against the Assad Government. Government. And it is not the same psychological profile. Right. And not the same behavior. And somebody who might want to fight against the Assad Government, and p you fight against certain groups you will get the u. S. Money and resources. So what might pull somebody there might be different from what somebody would want to do to actually engageing in the terrorist acts. And some would say that one would want to be out of their minds to do this . Not clinically. If you look at the empirical studies of the terrorist l is very low instance the of Mental Health issues. Mubi, n . Yes, the pathology is rare but sociopathy is not however. A crazy person however, it is quite rare. And sociopaths murder sociopath . Well the end result is going to be same, right . Death. And killing. And robert n the case of jihadi john he says that he believes that he was alienated after being detained in the airport in tanzania, and how does that alienation morph into joining isis, and beheading people . I dont know. I read the detailed report from the travels of england to tanzania and held up by immigration, and going through the system and Security Systems through a number of years. Empirically speaking from a form former practitioner, and empathy is one of the most important things as an investigator and intelligence and however, don, presuming that it is all accurate in the treatment the, and the alienation, and it would not explain that big leap psychopathic killer in a place like syria, and it is really really hard to conceive that as michael said that the path is so many and the environmental fac factors, and the motivators to make sure that there is aswirl ing caldron of activity. And the swing is from that scale to that. And that is what the government has spent millions to study, but what they have found is that there is not a clear pathway, and the kon e september of concept of radicalization is not easily to predict who might be the next person. And i can say, mubin, you were a jihadist, but what made the difference of you being able to turn it around . I wanted to point out that ideology does play a role. Not all of the time, and sociopolitical issues are a part of it and when we talk about the identity, and the sense of belonging, a hand is constructed for belong inging. For me it was religious ideology and i ended up in pakistan with a completely unrelated religious excursion, and i had a sense with the past, and the mujahadine and i did not grow up with political grievances, but after i grew up, i would give those political gree grievances as something to justify my actions. And so for the individuals it could be a whole host of things operating at the same time. And i want to dig in deeper. And it is not religious ideology at the same time to the attract you to it and it is religious ideology to save you from becoming more extreme . Well, it is interpretation of the religious scriptures. My misinterpretations got me into it and the ideology heldped me with the grievances to resonate and make sense to me because after all, it is a war on islam, and that is the only reason they are doing this p but, like you said it was through the study of the religion properly, and the holistic and context of the koran that led me out of this. And experts study terrorist, and is there enough analysis done on the Counter Terrorism strattegyies strategies . Well, no. I think that there were one study that could only find seven studies that could find that the counter strategies that the United States was using were effective. And so here we are 14 year ss after 9 11, and we as a government dont seem to have a handle on what works and what doesnt. It is something that is part of the problem. And meanwhile, the department of the homeland is sett to run out of money in 24 hours. And how upsetting should this be . Well, as the government and the Law Enforcement and intelligence agencies, it is quite upsetting. The purpose is the miaestro to coordinate the agencies it is quite concerning. You agree . Yes. And now, do you see yourself in him . Because how did a guy come from a person of means to all of the sudden end up joining eyeisis, and do you see yourself in him . Well, yes, there is a false caricature of the terrorist, and he does can havent a job. He does have a job. He is not intellectual. He is intellectual. It is unique and they are normal people, and i was not discriminated against. I was not bullied. I lived a good life. I got into it, because for whatever reason, i did not feel like it was for me anymore. For me, it was that i was guilttripped into thinking that i was not muslim enough. In cases like him who appear to be well integrated and appear to have good prospects in the the internal self, they dont feel like they are a part of the society, and it does not work for them and so they move on. And mubin shaikh and Robert Mcfadden can and thank you all for being here tonight. Tomorrow, we will have attorney general eric holder at 7 00 a. M. Eastern who will give a statement. And also blackballed. How the oscar actress monique got on the wrong side of hollywood. Sghoo and nowu and now you know them and love them llamas on the loose. Listen to next story, because human activists now say that isis is holding 260 christian activists being rounded up in villages. And now, a couple is hearing that their family members are among the hostages. Joining me is exclusively a couple who is join g using us from their home in odessa, california. 12 members including your brother are miss ing from the village in syria. They are syrian christian, and you believe they have been captured by isis and why . Yes, they are. Why do you believe they have been captured . Because i know that they were attacked them and so we know that they are. Ramel . Yes. Why do you believe they have been captured . Because we have had telephone confirmation to that effect that over 600 isis soldiers came on a predawn invasion into the valley and they pillaged about 15 villages along the kabul river which is a tributary of the euphrates, and thaey arerare comprised of the decent. And a old man that was too old to make the journey, he told them flat out that he would not leave. And so he said to kill him but he could not leave. So he made contact with my wifes family and told them what happened. Additionally my wifes sister and his son and wife were among the people who were able to flee, and with the cell phone they were able to explain in detail with the cell phone what transpired. So they have confiscated the cell phones and this man was too old to go, and they did not take his cell phone. That is correct. What happened when your loved ones try died to call them, and you tried to call your loved ones . We have not tried to call them, because we have heard from others who have attempted to call them that their e cell phones have been answered by their captors, and they have been told that they need not bother calling anymore, because there is absolutely nothing to be done on their behalf. Charlotte, your brother had been living in modesto, but he returned to syria two the years ago, and he went back to help other family members. Why did he go back this is. He went back because he had had a son over there and he has a daughterinlaw and two grandchildren. He went there to be there with them what is going on over are there, and he wants to be there to support him, and be with them. So it must have been tough consider ing considering what is going on. I am sure that you expected you know hoped for the best but expected the worst, but you never expected hanything like this. Yes. You were romel, the family members in syria were concerned about the growing threat of isis, and one of the reasons that he went back, but there is concern, and it is building over time . Yes, well he originally came here and immigrated here with his h wife and two daughters and he found employment here, and he was very happy, and making the adjustment to the american way of life. It began with the fighting against the Assad Government of the rebel forces and then it escalated into the isis situation. At the time when it first started with the fighting e between the rebel forces against the Assad Government my wifes brother decided that hed be best to go and be with the son and the grandchildren and put himself in harms way along with him. While waiting patiently for his sons visa to be improved to immigrate all together. It is arduous process to get american visa and it has been in the works for year, but he did not wait here, but wait for him over there with him. Thank you for coming on, and we are thinking of you, and please come back and again, with rehoping for the best. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. With isis deliberately targeting christians joining me is the author of the politics of isis and also the founder of the islamic forum, and the battle for the soul of islam and the patriot fight for the fate. And thank you for joining us as well. And now, many of the christians are men, women and children, and why are the christians now being targeted . Elwell, it is hard to tell, but, you know they seem to be provocative actions by these terrorists. They clearly cannot commit genocide against the christian, and they are trying to assert their power, show they can go in and take over, and also, a lot of animosity tied up in in there, and i mean, it is hard to say, because it is just so psyche pathic. And we have been talking about whether or not it is religious, and the president not saying it is islamic but terrorism in general, a san diego there and is there something in the koran that talks about nonbelievers . Well there are 109 verses in the koran that talk about violence, and committing violence but there are 269,000 verses in the koran, so it sis not a particularly major part of islam, but there is a difference of the islamist, and muslims. Islamists are political, and in most of the instantiations they want to take over the world with shariah law. And shariah law is not always violent, but it can be. And dr. Josser where does shariah law fall into themaster plan . Well don, it is an ideology that is going to be falling into the ultimate islamic state. And christianity is one that brought into the state and so isis is on steroids what saw ya ar saudi arabia is and so they persecute those who practice publicly, and so isis is doing publicly and doing videos of what is done in a lot of the islamic states and we can not lie that it is a culmination of the islamic ideology, and we have to empower the reformers, and you cant empower the reform of the theocracy if we dont call it islamist unless we allow them to have a seat at the table. And then we will not do anything other than give them fuel to say they allow them violence coming out of thin air. You agree . Is. Yes absolutely, i agree. These islamist, and the term didnt even have the term until the 70s or the 80s, and this is a new and contemporary movement it has to be a real pushback against them or they are goinging the to be fully out of hand but the point is well in hand that the what is done in public is what is done behind closed door and in saudi arabia, they are beheading behind closed doors and beating with sticks burk i dont want to demonize them. And that is right we should have these conversations, and the fact is that they should combine with the liberty and the freedom, but if we ultimately pushback against the ideas and the toxins that fuel it, we have to be critical of the political islam no matter how moderate and vieolent it is, it is the drug that becomes the radical ideology that fuels i. Dr. Jasser this is new video of isis throwing stones at a museum and artifact and they say that god is telling them to do in. And what do you make of this . Well they believe they are god. They believe that they are under the subdi thee yo krato crats. And that has to be the last word. And cnns original series finding jesus begins sunday night at 9 00 p. M. Here is a preview. Everyone i want you to sit down to watch this next interview, because after winning an oscar, any akctor should expect to get can offers for the best parts of of the the best movies but that is not the case with monique who won the best supporting actress for her role in 2010 for precious. She said that lee daniels told her that she is blackballed because she is difficult and she did not play the hollywood game. We will ask her about that, but first, a clip from her searing performance in precious. Who was going to love me . Hmm hmm . Since you got your degree and got everything who was going to love me . Joining p he now exclusively is monique. How are you . I am wonderful, don. How are you . That is great. And you wore the gardenias manyin the hair for the oscar speech dedicated to Hattie Mcdaniel who was is the first black person to win an oscar, and thanked her for the legacy for getting you there, and meanwhile though they said that sundays oscars has been the whitest since 199 88, and what is going on . You have to ask them don. I dont have the answer to that and when i heard that joke i said it must be something when they say start to make jokes about it that this is the whitest, i mean, the the brightest oscar award and so it is something that we have to take notice to, but it is a question that i cannot answer. And it has been five years now, so whats it been like . And did you get any roles or anybody call, and your phone ringing off of the hook . And you know, the phone was ringing, and the skrimts were coming and when people say, monique, where have you been . It is not that i havent been on tv and in the movies, because i have been blackballed as mr. Daniels said the offers didnt make sense. And the phones didnt stop ringing, and the offers didnt stop coming but the fact that i did not accept, that and if i did not accept it, and if the sisters did not accept it and what does it say to the girl who is not here that i accept these offers and how do we make a change . And this is lee daniels on the very broadcast last night this is. We were on the campaign, and she was making unreasonable demands, and, you know and she wasnt thinking this is when reverse racism happens. I said you have to thank the producers of the film and the studio, and i think that she did didnt understand that, and i said, listen people are not going to be responding well the if you dont. I love her, and i have spoken to her, and shy is brilliant. And i like to work with brilliant people, but sometimes, artists get in their own way. I think that there were demand s that were made from her on the Precious Campaign that everyone knows about that hurt her. Can it be changed . Well, if she plays ball. This is show bizusiness, and you have to play ball. And monique you have to play ball. And when mr. Daniels said that i didnt have demand and i was screaming at the screen, don, ask him what the demands were . There was no demands, and there was a request from the movie studio, and they call and requested that i fly to france for the kahn fillm festival and i said that i respectfully decline, because i was doing the monique comedy show, and doing a tour show, and in the award season of the awards and im a wife and mommy, and so when they called i had a couple of days down time and i wanted to spend it with my husband and my kids, and so when i said that we respectfully declined the movie studio called back and again said that we will upgrade the hotel room and my husband said, we will decline and she is going to take the time with the family ap when pp and when the third call came they said, what will it take to get monique to the c cannes film festival, and my husband said is there a number associated with it . And they said, well, there is no promotions associated with it. I was paid 50,000 to do the movie precious, and it is not the money, because i signed up to do it with my friend. And you are saying that you didnt have the money to do this on your own, and you needed to feed the family and pay your bills . I think that is what america says. I think that we all say that i cant do it por free. So when the movie studio says that we cant set a precedence and pay you to do that, we didnt have an issue with them but that is the reports said that monique is being demanding, and difficult. They had a request and we simply had a request, and they said that they couldnt do it and we understood, and that is it. And monique, you know how it works, and you had a talk show and i want to talk to you before we get off of the air and you said that you were blackballed, and i want to the talk about this, and you have a movie blackbird and you star alongside isaiah washington, and independent film and why have you chosen to take the independent film route. And you can put the video up. And the offers coming in did not make sense. And when the attorney Ricky Anderson said, we have to get it to monique and the husband, and when we got it we knew it was necessary to get involved and when we can get involved and have ownership of something, and that means getting ownership, my family will benefit as long as my likeness is on the movie, and so to have ownership of it and to tell the story, and the reason it is personal don, because remember when you had to go on the e monique show and you had to make the announcement to come out. Well, we want babies to stop coming out and making announcements, and so that is what we want to stop, and this is a movie to have situations of where people want to be just treated fairly and treated equal. And we have to go monique. Thank you. Thank you for being here. Thank you, don. We will see you soon okay. Thankbyaby. All right. Coming up next everybody is loving llamas. Reporter cnn switched from the strategy of terror to lawlamas on the run. Im not kidding you. This is a pair of llamas on the loose. I am not sure what the strategy is here in trying to get these two llamas or alpacas. Reporter just talking about it induced anchor giggles. We will check the status of the black llama and this white llama. And now, checking in with john who watched and helped catch this llama. And this is what you will get with the car chase, and you are one of the guys who helped to catch the lawlamas, and you heard the helicopters over the house . Yes, sir. And you looked online and you saw what happened and you and your brother e decided to go help . Yes, sir. Like i said we looked online for the news report and found nothing, and so i went online and saw a live feed of the llamas being chased and i noticed that it was three or four blocks from the house, and so we grabbed a rope and got on the truck, and got to del webb and got out to keep the llamas a waiaway from the busy intersection of grand avenue. They were not easy to catch. No, they tucker med out from 25 minutes of trying to catch them. At one point we had almost got them p pinned in the corner lot, but they escaped that one. And my brother handed off this rope to one guy who was able to lasso the black one. And you had it . Yes, right here, this is what i grabbed in the garage on the way out. And it is not like everybody is a cowboy here and carries a lasso, and it is quite the event, let me tell you. And it was, and we all watched it. John rowan, thank you very much. Not a problem, and it is fun. If you think that arizona is the obl place of lawlama drama, this is pierre, and he is a llama who has a llama handler, and i dont want to make any false move ss. Pierre is famous, why . He has been on saturday night live, and he walked the Greenwich Village parade. He has done a few things. Are they known to escape . Oh, yeah. They like to run. Pierre likes to run if he can. And you always have to have a catch pin. That is an open gate leadin. I set them up, and i have a gate open and he has to go through, and that is the catch. What did they do wrong today, how did the llama escape . Did they do something wrong . Well, they might have left the gate open or a fence down i dont know how theirs escaped. How fast can they go . They are fast. Up to 35 Miles Per Hour . Maybe. They are fast. At first they thought it was an alpaca, but it is not. What is the difference . The alpaca is smaller, and fiber is thinner. Are they mean animals . No they have very docile. Pierre is cute. And they are natural guard animals for sheep. All right. Thank you. Are we done . Are we out of time. All right. We will be right back. Bye, pierre. Thanks for coming in. He is happeny to come. Ah come on lets hide in the attic. No. In the basement. Why cant we just get in the running car . Are you crazy . My grandfather has parkinsons disease and his hands shake so much and so i decided to come up with the the kangaroo cup. I thought up the idea at 8 or 9 years old. I wanted to put the legs on the cup, because i figured that it wouldnt be as likely to spill. The original cup was made out of porcelain. And we are learning that nearly 3400 westerners have gone off to fight for isis already. And now according to the director of the nashltional intelligence include those four canadians.
