And he covered the faulkland islands for the Associated Press joining us live via skype and Brian Stelter is joining us as well a cnn correspondent. And so this is what he is saying that he covered the faulkland islands islands, and for years, bill oreilly is recounting his stories saying that he acted e heroically in a war zone that he apparently never stepped foot in. That is per cbs. Brian . Le well this started with Brian Williams two weeks ago, don, and i wondered at the time if we would see other news stars at the same level of scrutiny that Brian Williams would be subjected to the and it is answered yes. And bill oreilly is the number one opinion anchor on cable news. He has a bigger audience than anybody on the news and he is bigger target to be subjected to scrutiny, because it is pointingdiscrepancyies of the war story, a and he calls mother jones a disgusting piece of garbage and on and on and meanwhile, mother jones is saying look at the evidence here, and dont make it it a he said he said, and look at the evidence and over time and on Television Bill Oreilly talked about being in a combat zone. But the closest was in ar a jen tina and not in the faulkland islands where no reporter was allowed to be. And as david corn said to me he said it is as if you were in d. C. Covering a vietnam war protest, and then saying you were in vietnam, and that is how they say it is. And what do you make of the mother jones report . Well, so it is not a Brian Williams problem, and not anywhere on that scale. And while brian is quite right, oreilly is the biggest guy in cable television, he is not the Brian Williams of nbc. Brian wil Brian Williams does a news show and oreilly does an oreilly opinion show and these are a series of issues that are 35 years old now or 30plus years old certainly, and Brian Williams and where it is that he got in trouble over issues that are current and immediate and on the air with him. And what is the difference if he is fudging or the embellishing and this is again ak according to mother jones. Well, i totally agree that brian is dead right about this everybody is fair game now. And anybody who has had a Public Statement on television or elsewhere, it is going to be skrut scrutinized. And oreilly has been scrutinized and there are appearing to be differences, and there is one place he said that he covered the war from a argentina, and uruguay and i was down there and from the virtually the entire time of the conflict, and we never got anywhere near it. I mean i covered the war from buenos aires, and there were demonstrations and dis disturbances, but i never saw true open fire in a big way, and so this can be scrutinized, don, but i dont think that it is on a par of the issues of exaggerations and the trouble that Brian Williams is in. Well, one of the examples a that they point to is the oreilly segment from 2013 while discussing the boston bombing. Watch this. That is a sichtuation one im in a war zone in argentina in the falklands with where my forever got run down and then hit his head and bleeding from the ear on the concrete, and the army was chasing us, and i had to make a decision, and i dragged him off, but at the same time i am looking around and trying to do my job, but i feared they had to get the guy out of there, because it was more important. What do you think . Well, that is one good example of him, don, describing being in the combat situation, and in the past oreilly has talked about surviving the combat situation in the falklands, and he described it in argentina and whether it is a combat situation or not that is the issue, a a ndnd he said another time in 1993, i have been killed almost three times, and so those claims will be scrutinized more times. And lets play the sound bite again. That is a situation where i was nin a war zone one time in argentina in the falklands where my photographer got run down and was bleeding from the ear on the concrete, and u the army was chasing, and hayed to drag him off, but at the same time i had to do my job and i figured that i had to get this guy out of there because it is more important. And he is using the shorthand, but he said in the falklands. And in the two tv interviews he said that i never said that i was in the falklands, because nobody was. And so like frank said he is not a news anchor like Brian Williams s and people may assume the best or the worst of bill oreilly and may not change the views, but among the people who are predisposed of being skeptical of bill oreilly it is going to stick. And don, two points it does sound like many that piece of tape that he was in a war zone, and if where that happened was in the streets of buenos aires where there were plenty of demonstrations i was in some of those and outside of the president ial palace and people were very belligerent, that is not a war zone. That might have been a disturbance in the city or Something Like that but it was when you talk about a war zone, that makes it sound like combat is happening around you, and the other point that i want to make when you lis oenten to the tape and what he is saying, listen to the number of times that he is talking about himself, i, i, i, and Brian Williams was doing the same thing, i, i, i, and this is the admonition to take seriously. We are not the story. The journalists are not the story, and when we become the story, and when we talk about i all of the time, so it is not a leap until i, we get in trouble. And i think that you are making an important point here, because i am not sure that if bill oreilly saw himself as a journalist and he does not call himself a journalist to my knowledge, and he says that he is a host and he is not a news and he does not report in the election a ndnd he sums up with a commentary or opinion, but he does not do the news so he is not really you know seen as a journalist. But it is to the heart of the brand. And he did take on Brian Williams. And he calls it the the no spin zone and if he sis sper sieved as spinning then he gave a number of eight or ten interviews here and he did this with the story out at 5 30 and then when fox put him on the phone with eight or nine reporters tonight, and i spoke to fox and they deferred to what oreilly said to the other interviewers but oreilly came out on the offensive right away, and said it is b. S. And defamatory the, and the anti antibrian wil antiBrian Williams, and that might shape the response, and i do wonder, and days to come are there other examples or the tall tales, i dont know and i want to make it clear, but if there are, i want to make it clear. And this is another report from mother jones. He has been there. I have been there. And the e events and the wars and whatever, you have been there . Well, that is separating me from most of the believeloviaters, because they bloviate about what they have not, and i covered four wars, and i was in el salvador and i went over to the faulkland islands and covered it from buenos aires and went to israel and Northern Island and covered that. And the faulkland thing is there and he said that i covered it from buenos aires. Right. And the other place, israel and those in question as well . I dont believe so, and he wrote in the book about the experience in el salvador in the past and described being there and trying to get the reports on the air and having trouble in cbs, and that played in the narrative of having a hard time at cbs, and leaving the network. That brings up a bigger issue, don, if you are at buenos aires, and you cant get to the faulkland islands, how much reporting are you doing . And how much was he adding to the story . And sometimes the years or the decades later, they want to pop out, and talk about all of the important stories they were covering, but if ta were not embedded with the troops, how much were they at it . That is the larger point that you can think about in the kon and war correspondents will say, what you did was to orchestrate what you did. And yes, the expression of getting the dirt on the boot and when an anchor get ss the dirt on the boots to get a story, and what we should celebrate and lift up as an industry is the people day in, day out doing the hard work. And he responded to tv news and politico and washington post. And fox news. Yes. And this what he told tv newser everything i said is true, and this is ridiculous, and everything i said is verifiable and the video i said led the dan rather program that night. And this is insane. I never said i was on the faulkland islands. Nobody was. Cbs news has the footfootage, and everything i said about my re reportial career everything it accurate. So he is very blunt and coming out and not letting the story snowball, but it is trending on facebook and twitter, and the initial reaction is going to mean a lot, because if there is discrepancies about what he has said will hurt him later, and if wa we learned about Brian Williams what going to be said it is going to be wrong. And so that is b. S. And you go to where you are sent, and that is what you do. And so just because he was not in the falklands, he covered the war. Maybe he was in life and death situation where the army opened fire on the war, and maybe that was life and death and what he described is legitimate, but in the environment where Brian Williams stories were shown to be exaggerations the impetus is on oreilly and where there is tape. There is more significance than oreilly mouthing off. And it is important to get both sides, and again, my apologyies apologies, and sorry for use ing that word and it wont happen again, because it is a slip of the tongue. And thabk you, frank sesna. Are you happy there is the breaking news a distraught husband of a woman who was killed in las vegas and lashing out at t the reporters after the arrest of a young man in the murder. And now, tonight, police are searching for one more suspect. Sara sidner is there, and a number of twists and turns, and what is the latest . Well, one more twist and turn. We spent some time speaking with robert myers the husband of tam themy myers, and he explained a e detail that we had not heard that everyone is wondering about, what happened in the second encounter when his wife brought the son in the car and somehow found the suspect again. Now, we rare told by the family that shots were fired by the suspect, and that is what sent the family back to the house to try to come back to safety. She tried to get her son back in the house, and she was shot and killed by the suspect. That is prand new that is brand new information that we have not been a able to report until now because we just got it by robert myers, and again, another suspect that the police are searching for. They have one suspect in custody who they are saying is the person who killed mrs. Myers, the po ther of four but this story is changing. There is a lot of you saw the frustration from the father and there is a lot of different reporting, depending upon who you are hearing from, and it turns out that the family and tammy myers herself had known the suspect, and spent time with him, and tried to counsel him h and brought him food and tried to help him out according to the family, and this is not a simple case of the road rage that everyone thought initially with the details that people were given. There is a lot of social media backlash at the family and blaming them and let me tell you that has sent them absolutely they are just so angry about that, because they feel that tammy myers did what she had to protect the children. Sara sidner thank you, very much for that. I want to bring in now dr. Drew penske host of dr. Drew on call and lets talk about the road rage murder and we foe e that the sus we know that the suspect in custody and the person involved and what do we know . If somebody escalates to the road rage, there is a back and forth and then somebody gets out of the vehicle and off it goes, but this erupted quickly, and always had the feeling of somebody who was, you know they knew each other or some connection connection, but many this case, we dont know the relationship of the victim and the perpetrator yet. She was a nurse. Was she go ging to try to help somebody in the neighborhood that she believed she could heldp or was at a risk or in trouble . Was there a deeper way . Crazy speculation that they were involve dd romantically, and all kinds of speculation, and social media will take off with this up till we start to hear the facts. The reality is that it never should have happened. Im concerned as an addictionologist and particular particularly methamphetamine, and involved and we know that the neighbor said that he was involve dd in drugs, and we dont know which one, but the right combination, and you have someone who could easily become violent. The husband said that she was trying to e helhep him, and do you believe that it is a road rage incident entirely . Obviously, he knew her and she had some affinity for her, and seemed to be a kindhearted woman, and something beyond road rage . Yes, something far beyond it. And there is something else, because to call it a road rage there sis a misnomer. And you say drug problems or psychological problems but anything beyond that that you could point to that could be a possibility . Well, i dont want to speculate, because this poor family is attacked by social media with the bizarre speculation, and i have been offered one already tonight, and the nature of the relationship is unclear. She did know ta thishat this is a youth in trouble the, and to what extent she tried to help, we dont know, but in there is the information that we need to understand why this kid erupted the way he did, and why she went back to try to engage with him. And none of it makes any sense right now, and it is because we dont have enough information. All right. Thank you for clearing it up and talking more about it. And lets talking about bill cosby now, and we will hear about the two accusers right now, and do you think that we could hear from more women accusing him of rain or of rape or assault . I think so. Who would have thought this many, and that they keep coming . I think that some of them are going to be end up to be spurious, and some piling on that goes on in this sort of a frenzy and call it what it is, but it appears to be a pattern, and it is although not been proven, and this is us speculating in the public court of speculation only in the media, but i do believe we will see a few more yet, and i do, and there is a trickle, and the trickle has not yet stopped or slowed. Dr. Drew penske. Thank you. You bet. A combustible combination, eddie murphy and the saturday night live 40th anniversary. Eddie murphy did not comprise any of the old characters from the the sketches, but he had the chance to perform something, and he didnt do it. And Norm Mcdonald a former cast member said that he tried to get him to play bill cosby in a skit on jeopardy but he said he would not do it. It was not worth it. He say thass that he is appreciative of eddie, and i applaud the actions, but this sis not where it ends. A harsh critic of cosby said this what . He is a rapist, and that is not loyalty, but it is choosing to support a rich rapist over 30 victims, a and he went on the say this, in case you forgot that cosby likes to knock people unconscious, and then bleep bleep them, and then intimidates them into silence. Cosby was played by keenan thomas. Lets see what this famous celebrity has to say about his favorite cocktail. And the bama jamma oh dear god, we filmed that in june. We are joined by Attorney Gloria Allred and her clients casey and lisa. And do you deem him to be a rapist . Well, it is fair to say that he has nobody to blame but himself for the accusations against him, and if in fact eddie murphy is saying that he does not want to kick a man when he is down if in fact he he is down, bill cosby, he has no one to blame but himself. Why doesnt he stand up and instead of making jokes about whether or not he is putting anything in a womans drink, then i think that what he should do is to come back and acknowledge each and every accusation against him and say that i deny it or it is true or whatever he wants to say, but face it, instead of telling a joke. All right. Casey, can i start with you . Your situation is not unlike any of the stories that we have heard from the accusers. You didnt have much of an interaction and you were an an assistant to his personal appearance agent, and then he started to contact you outside of the office. That is correct. What happened some. He contacted me outside of the office by calling me at home. I had not give enn him my home contact information, and so it was never clear how he got that information, but he was who he was, and the agent i worked for, he was his top client and one of the top clients at the agency and so it is one of the thing s things a that i did not question. It is more of the very much in a friendly kind of a uncle a fa fatherly kind of way. But then he invited you to dinner at his home and he wanted you to go over the scene and there was a kissing scene. Yes. And kissing part at the end of the scene. Yes, that is correct. Then what happened . Well, at the end of the scene, it was to end with a passionate kiss between a man and a woman, and i was uncomfortable with that ending and not very cooperative with the kissing part, and he had me do it several times over. Each time i sort of you know would turn my head away, and he would be pressing himself against me to you know come in closer for the passionate kiss. It was a very uncomfortable situation. I was not sure you know. And that part only the kiss the uncomfort was the only thing that happened . Yes, in that encounter. And then at the lunch in the belair, correct . Yes. And in his suite, he said that you needed to relax, again, according to you . Yes. And then he gave you a white pill . Correct. And then what happened . Well, we also were having wine and food brought in and the white pill. And i dont have exact recollection of what happened after that. What recollection i have is a that being in the living room having the pill and the wine and when i come to im in the bed, and he is there, naked beneath his robe, and when he answered the door, id like to say when he answered the door, he was in his bathrobe and slippers which is unusual, but this is in his suite. I thought that we were having lun lunch outside of the suite, but it turned out that he was bringing it in, and i mention that because when i do recall waking up so to speak, i saw the slippers slippers on the floor, and that is odd to me. I thought why i am seeing these slippers on the floor, and the lotion on the, lotion bottle on the night stand and mr. Cosby with the open robe. And you wanted to take legal action back then . I did. Did you tell anyone . Yes. And you left the William Morrison agentcy . I did. And what happened . I did speak with someone there, and i sought Legal Counsel and i was highly discouraged, and i was told that i would become tabloid fodder and that his power and influence was far too great, and that my family and i would be put under such scrutiny that it would be devastating devastating, and that there was no i would have no chance to be believed. And quite frankly, at that time i had absolutely no idea that there was anyone other than myself. This is at the height of his fame. And you thought that you were alone. I thought that i was alone and carrying the burden of americas favorite father. And lisa you felt that wow were alone as well and you were 29 in 1989 and then what happened after meeting in the Modeling Agency and you found yourself with him in the hilton hotel, and you were not a drinker, and he gave you something . Yes, he wanted to do an improvisation, and he asked me to come up and so i did. And he said, why dont you, and he said drink this, because it will h help you to relax. I said that i was not a drinker, and he insisted and i trusted him h, because he is americas dad, and i drank it. Immediately, he turned around and made another one to bring it to me, and i drank it as well. Within a few minutes i was dizzy, and he is asking me to come sit next to him or in front of him, because he is sitting in front of the couch, and i sit on the end table, and he scoots the legs on the sides of each ones of my arm, and i can feel them and i start to think to myself as i am sitting here do i leave my arms on the side or put my arms up on his thigh, and saying to myself why am i thinking that . Because it is awkward and why i am touching him or feeling the skin . You had never experienced a blackout. So you didnt know what happened . I had noidea . What do you believe happened . He drugged my alcohol. I dont believe anything for two days. That is how it is for me. I dont know how i got home, and i dont know what happened and how my car got home. And everything was there and for me it feltt like two days, and i dont know if i blacked it out or if i remembered something and i could not cope with it and shut it out of my life, but it just didnt exist for pe. And if they were sexually assaulted and put a drug in the drink as he did with lisa and put it under her tongue and swallow it and excuse me kasey, because she has indicated in the past what she wanted to do she did want to take that pill pill, but then she thought if i put it in my mouth, i can run to the restroom and spit out and make an excuse but he said you have to swallow it is what she alleges, and that is Sexual Violence if a person is drug and then assault eded the centers for Disease Control calls it is exyule violence, and that is Sexual Violence and that is serious. What are you doing now . Well now my husband came to me and he said you know that these women are saying the same story that you told me but they are saying the rest of the story . What do you want to happen . I am fighting the statue of limitations in nevada. Irene bustamante is helping me with the bill in place, and we are hoping to get as many people in place to testify in carson city, and we have the document on change. Org and hundreds of people to sign the e petition. That is important, don, because people are saying, well, these allegations are not proven well all of the women would like their day in court. That is why we need to change the statue of limitations, so they are not barred from proceeding with the case. And that is so interest, and thank you for all coming in and cnn has not been able to independently verify the accusation and be bill cosby has declined to come on or to respond. We will continue to follow the story. Reporter this is the picture that prosecutors want the jury to see of Eddie Ray Routh. His family is helpless to stop it. And laura beal wrote about his struggles if in a book titled the enemy within. It is like a car crash in slow motion, and you can see it getting worse and worse, but you are powerless for it to help. Reporter it was chronicled in july 2011 he is diagnosed with psychotic disorder, and then ptsd and then doctors say he is showing signs of psychosis, and then in 201, 2012, he is shown with psychotic disorder, and then a week before the murders, he is paranoid and sigh kot psychotic according to doctors. Doctors believe that routh told dr. Dunn in an sixhour interview that he believed they were pigs. Dunn says that routh is delusional and that some of the coworkers at a gun shop were cannibal cannibals, and he believed that pigs were take thing over the earth, and also that dunn said that as soon as i did it, i realized that i made a mistake, but prosecutors say that this is the picture that he should see, smokeing from the hue ka and ignoring the calls to stop smoking drugs and Drinking Alcohol alcohol. This is what the jurors are going to say, you cant come in here and say to us i had these drugs from the doctor and these not are from the doctor, and consider them all, and let me off for the murder case. A jury is not going to be looking at it that way. Reporter chris kyle did not know the depth of rouths psychosis. Rouths mother testified and he said he did not believe that he held his girlfriend at knifepoint and that he had been admitted to the v. A. Hospital, and she said you didnt believe that would have saved chris kyles life . And she said i didnt think that it was important at the time. And then pros kuecutors said that Eddie Ray Routh will not test the fi. Lets discuss the american sniper trial, and i want to bring in brandon web who is the author of the red circle and so, brandon, if he had known that Dee Ray Routh was troubled would he have offered to hep him . I think that if chris had known the true nature of Eddie Ray Routh and the history of the violent nature and the guy who had spent a couple of times in the mental institution, i dont believe that chris would have ever in a million of years taken the guy outt to the range that day. I have said it over and over that it is tragic a that the mother who obviously cared for the son left that critical piece of inpormation out. No doubt in my mind that chris kyle is alive today if he knew about the true history of eddie routh. If the mom had said something . Yes. And you say that routh is the example of everything wrong with the military and the v. A. And what do you mean by that . Well, you have to look at the situation of the marine corps, and a period of time where they lowered the standards, and looking at rouths history in the marine corps. He has a history of violence drug abuse, and alcohol abuse, and all of the marine corps veterans who came out to and served with routh said that he has had a history of vieolence, and mental history, and he goes to the v. A. In dallas after he gets out, and the v. A. Inspector general called the v. A. In dallas the worst facile the ti in in facility the worst v. A. In the nation and so there were all of the checkpoints that could have prevented this death. And do you believe in the end of the day, it is a kis of ptsd . No, it is a case of what ptsd is a buzzword in the media, but it is a a clear case of someone who had a severe mental disorder and posttraumatic stress and somebody with a serious men a tall disorder and exhibiting symptoms of schizophrenia are two different things. And brandon, i want to bring in a neighbor of Eddie Ray Routh who employed him in odd jobs. Thank you for coming on tim. I understand that you tried to help eddie by creating odd jobs for him, and what did you do . That is correct. So he was kind of the guy hanging around the neighborhood aimless, and the mo ether was trying to help him out, and i lived on a big piece of property so i hired him odd jobs to do around the house to help him out. And what did he do . Help you out to take orders or that . Well, he was unreliable. He seemed like he had good intentions and hed be i will be there first thing in the morning, but when the rubber met the road he did not make it happen. You say he was fixated with a gun at your house, and tell me about that . Well, when he did work at my house, i had military memorabilia and i had a shadow box, and inside of that shadow box, hay had a handgun and he was focused on that and he wanted me to take it out of the shad e doe box to hold it which i did not do. At the time, i was not really understanding the significance of the whole thing, but when the prosecutor gave their opening speech they talked about the importance of chris kyles handgun and how eddie bypassed a lot of other guns on the scene to get that gun and to load it and leave with it. And so it all came to bear when i found that it is the exact make and model gun that i had many in the shadow box that eddie was focused on. Maybe it is a coincidence, but it is a big coincidence, and it is giving some credence to the prosecutors contention that eddie was in koncontrol of some of the fac ul the tis on the day of the murders. You say that he is un unreliable, but did you notice a change of him from the time that he did the killing . Sure. When i first met him, he with because happy go lucky guy and lax days calckadaisical lackadaisical, and i did notice a change of the behavior and much more on edge nervous, wired, i would say. What did you think when you heard about it . I was completely shocked. I didnt even register it at first until i saw the photo on the screen and i felt my blood turn cold type of moment.
