Crime scene and the home of the former nfl star. And also the latest on the air strikes in retaliation of the brutal murder of a jordanian Fighter Pilot. We have a whole lot to get to the night, but i want to begin with Bruce Jenners journey. Take a look at the cover of the latest issue of People Magazine, because it is out tomorrow and reporting that the gold medal winner is finally happy. And in todays new york times, nik kristoff writes that if the aim is to educate us, bravo. Joining us is nik kristoff and you came out with the column Bruce Jenners courage and new york times. Well he was my childhood hero and he was a track runner and i was too, in oregon, and we all wanted to be bruce jenner. I have not thought about him for a long time. He has been transitioning to become a woman. Yes, a transgendered woman. And it is so important, because there is no can communeity in america more marginalized and more subject to mockery and dis discrimination, because 0. 3 of americans are transgender and we dont put a face on it, and now we have bruce jennerrs. And how so . Because we have president obama for the first time in the state of the Union Address to are refer to transjen transgendered people and for bruce jenner to come out, this is a moment that people can identify with and dissolve that prejudice. We are about the same age and growing up bruce jenner was my idol and so was mark spitz and my sister was in love with both of them winning several gold medals and now on the cover of the wheaties box, and now one wonders if he has been wondering about this h his whole life or battling it his whole life or later in life . Well, some wonder if it is out to sell a tv show, but there is so much mockery and hostility toward people transgendered, i have a hard time to believe that anybody would do this except that they are at at some point in life trying to return to who they are authentically are. And when you mention to Sell Television programs or what have you, and the reports are to chronicle the transition on e network, and a tv network with diane sawyer, and People Magazine reporting that the family, a nd he has told people that his family is supportive and this is what Kim Kardashian told people. Famous for being famous. I think that bruce is happy and the happiests that i have seen him. And he is our dad. We support him no matter what. I think that when the time is right, he is going to be talking about whatever he wants to talk about about, you know. It is his story to talk about. Also, you report in your column that his mother is quoted doing that she spoke to a News Organization and saying that she is a very proud of her son. She could not be prouder . More proud of him than when he won the gold in 1976. You know, that is that makes it a lot easier for him to have that family support, and 57 of transjend cangendered people in the country are rejected by their family. And you talk ded about this saying that according to the Human Rights Campaign three transjend transgendered people have already been murdered in the United States and the story of layla alcorn made headlines after she killed her herself, and then other transgendered people were killed because of the discrimination. And think of the Matthew Shepherd case where a young gay man in wyoming was murdered ap apparently for being gay and that still happens all of the time to people who are transgendered, and especially transgendered women of color. In that koncontext, and in that Workplace Discrimination and more than half of the transjend transgendered people are discriminated in the workplace and more than half reported they have attempted suicide. So in that way to have someone like bruce jenner to come out is really important for that community as a role model to make it a teachable moment for all of us. And sitting in the middle of the country, because the people believe that the coast s ares are more liberal, but in the middle of the country, when the president of the United States as you mentioned the president says the word transgender in the state of the union, it is important. Take a listen. To defend free speech and advocate for Political Prisoners and condemn the persecution of women or religious minorities or people who are lesbian bisexual or transgender eded and we do it not only because it is right, but because it is ultimately going to make us safer. Transgender and lesbian and those words have never been used in a state of the union, and that is why it is important, and one reason, this this is progress. Yes. And essentially the gay rights began to happen, because all americans begin to realize their brother or the cousin or the work buddy was gay. It became something real. 7 0 70 of americans now have a friend who is gay. Only 10 have a friend who is transgendered, and bruce jenner is a little bit of the bridge perhaps a way to humanize this category of people who are in this category. And when you mention the statistics did you struggle with writing the story . I struggled for a couple of reasons, because first of all, it is Bruce Jenners story, and he has not come out formally to declare it and what business of mine to jump in to write it and also this is something that is intensely personal. I wondered if it is really my business to intrude. And it seemed to me that this is something that jenner is doing not just as a personal journey, but also trying to educate the country. And from that point of view, that is why i think that he should be back on the wheaties box. And not only he wrote about it, but it was written about in the style section of the new york times. I want you to the standby, because after this interview, i want to bring in zoe tur from inside edition and the first tran gendered reporter and i want to thank you for coming on and ask you a broad question, what do you think of this . I think that this is a brain anomaly, and bruce jenner has been transitioning for at least 20something years. I mean i met him 20 years ago and he or she should come out and talk about it now. We have a 42 Suicide Attempt rate, and we need bruce jenner to come out to stand up and talk about it. It is like no big deal. We need the worlds greatest athlete, but unfortunately with the time thing and the part of the kardashians, it is a lot of people are suspicious. People ask me all of the time, do i really believe it or some sort of hoax are they are trying to sell another tabloid show on television. The reality is that it is a very serious matter as your guest mentioned, and we need jenner to stand up and be the hero that she is. And you think that the overall message in the importance of this is being overshad e doed by maybe the publicity of it and maybe some would think the circuslike atmosphere of it . Is ha that what you are trying to say . I am saying that. The connection with the kardashians is a big circus. Jenner has been transitioning publicly for over 20 years with all of the surgeries. Jenner is driving around the streets in stiletto shoes and dressing as a female and we are all supposed to not notice this. It is like the emperors new clothes. Look im out and i got called by tmz and 28 million new people knew i was transgender and an hour later i decided to participate and tell my story and tell it to smin who would listen, because i wanted to control my narrative and i didnt want to be a national joke. It is difficult, and transitioning is horribly difficult, but you give up everything and anything to get everything everything. So it is a positive experience, and if you can see the message s that i get. I have over 3,000 messages from people that are transjendgendered from people who are bisexual lesbian or illegal or people with secrets who say, you have helped me to save my life, because you give me confidence and make me hopeful, and jenner can do that today. Because everyday people are committing suicide. This week i had one person i know commit suicide and another attempt suicide. So you know, enough. Come out and speak up we need you. What is wonderful about you, zoe, is that you allow room in the conversation to allow people to make mistakes. Of course. I make them, too. It is confusing to me don. I love the fact that you have me on tv and we are talking about, thank you so much. You are saving lives. If you make a mistake with a pronoun, so what i make them too. I am getting used to it too, and you have to have a sense of humor. And now, you are the first, i believe you are the first transjendgendered, televisions first transgendered reporter, and mou the first correspondent for inside edition and now lets look at your work. The last time i was at the the controls of the helicopter i was a man, and they called me bob tur. And nouw im a woman and they call me zoe tur. It is great to be at the kon can trolls of the helicopter again, and especially adds a female. A famed news chopper pilot you are. You came out as zoe and you were chopper bob as that, and selfdescribed alpha male. You covered the o. J. Simpson bronco chase and the riot ss, and did you think that you would have this opportunity . No i was told that i would never work again and once i came out, that would be it. And i could not find a transgendered reporter and we have elaine in colorado who does a talk show in colorado but mainstream zero. So i was told that i was done. I believed it for quite a while. It was not until i had enough confidence they reached out to charles laukman and inside edition and a threeminute conversation and he hired me on the spot. So we are ready for it. And it is 2015 with the transparent winning two Golden Globes and the president of the United States mentioning transgendered in the state of the union and eric holders work gives us workplace protection, and this is wonderful to be hopeful now. If you are transgendered, come out. Like harvey milk said with the gay gays and the lesbians, and if you come out, and you come out to the family, it is hard to be hated. It is hard to hate this community. So if you are transgender, know that the possibilities exist. As por ofmore of us come out the better our lives will be. And zoe, i think that you are fantastic, and i hope you will come back to have a longer conversation and i think it is important when it comes to transgender right ss in this country. And thank you, and you are not a bad looking guy. And not bad yourself. Ah. And now, what a great time to come out. And isnt zoe fantastic . Yes, and to be aired here but i would pushback on is the idea that it is a big circus, and i see it but on the other hand there is a chance here using reality tv and using the Television Interviews to come into the american living rooms and explore the complicated and bewildering process that leaves a lot of people in america feeling kind of overwhelmed and, you know maybe a moment that can change minds and create a little bit more tolerance. And what i should have said to her is that she is a good looking woman as well and i appreciate the compliment. And thank you, zoe tur and thank you, nik kristoff. And coming up, an exfoot balball star on trial for murder and no, not o. J. Simpson, but Aaron Hernandez. And now the jurors are going to visit the scene of the crime. But key testimony on the investigation of the crime scene as Susan Candiotti reports. Reporter not olong after the jogger finds the bullet riddled body of odin lloyd, police find evidence of two shell casings in a ditch in the ground above the victims head. Reporter and car keys, a white towel, tire track, a baseball cat, and 64 in cash in his body, and a blunt in his body which has dna of Aaron Hernandez and odin lloyd. To protect evidence from a rainstorm, they scoop up some things and lay down tarps to preserve tire tracks and footprints. Reporter but the defense pounces on it. You understood that there could be dna on the towel . Yes, sir. And you understood that there could be hair on the towel that could be significant . Yes, sir. Nobody measured it right . Nobody measured it. You are rare eyeballed it . Yes. That is is what i am telling you. Reporter and they put the same evidence in the same bag contrary to draining. Can you tell us if the they were placed into separate bags . I dont recall. Reporter but the defense shows in the report indicating that the shell casings were not separated. Prosecutors argue it doesnt matter, because both of the casings were found manyin the same ditch. The murder weapon that fired them is still missing. The jurors will get a closeup look at the crime scene friday and victim odin lloyds house, and they will get an inside look at the former football stars home. The prosecutors tell the judge they are worried about a possible o. J. Moment. In his trial, o. J. s lawyer showed a home filled with family photos, and those jurors were later told to ignore them. H this time when the prosecutors balk the eight family and baby photos will be removed and cover a new piece of furniture displaying other items. In an intense moment one light moment when the defense grill eded a witness about the tire tracks there was a light moment on deflategate. Did you receive training on deflating footballs . No. Reporter and tomorrow the jury is going out to the scene and it is going to be cold. The forecast is zereo e degree, and the judge telling the jury, dress warmly and wear boot, because the bus tour is going to be taking about 4 1 2 hours. And ill be the tv Pool Reporter on it, and i will be up close and personal but we are under strict ordres not to take any pictures of the jurors and don we have to stay away and stay back about 25 yards from them. We apologize for the issue with Susan Candiottis mic if it is wind or technical problem, but suesan, i want to ask you this and see if the microphone will work, but the defense grill ed the police and showing that they were sloppy in the handling of the evidence, and were they successful with this, susan . Well, it is hard to read if e tea leaves in how the jury might look at this but this is what happened the prosecution made the point, because there was a big storm about an hour after they the arrived on the scene and found odin lloyds body and because the big rains were coming, they had to, they said pick up some of the evidence and put it aside, and cover other evidence. But the defense said wait a minute you are not supposed to do that. And you should have measured each and every thing, and the end, the prosecution said,r it might have washed away if we didnt pick it up. A lot going on. And thank you, Susan Candiotti. And will the jurors learn anything by touring the scene or the houses . I will ask the judges next. Can a truck change how people feel about a guy . We talked to real people, not actors. We showed them two pictures of the same guy in the same location. The only difference. The vehicle behind him. If this guy could grow facial hair what would he grow . Just a soul patch. The truck guy. Mutton chops. Show me how truck guy would shake my hand. Oh you know you want a truck. The all new chevy colorado. Motor trends 2015 truck of the year. We are going to be digging a little bit deeper into the Aaron Hernandez trial with the judges. With us is judge Larry Seidlin and judge Glenda Hatchett host of the judge hatchettt show and so thank you both for join g us joining us. And even though it is a common practice in murder cases, would you have allow ed aed a tour into the hernandez home if it were up to you . Yes, absolutely. I think it is a great strategy, and the jurors need to see it. I think that particularly don, they need to see and understand the proximity, and you can say that the house was so far away or close to where the body was found of the victim, but to see that proximity and the cell tower and to understand but what i dont understand in the strategy of the case, and why the judge allowed it is why they are going to the victims home. I know they need to see where the videotape is, and the clips, and where was he standing but i dont understand going to the victims home on the site tour. I the think that judge seidlin disagrees with the site tour. That is interesting. Well, a balance here. You have to worry about the jury being contaminated, because the judge has to control the environment. And when you leave the courtroom, you lose that control. In o. J. Simpson, there were people standing out there with signs saying he was guilty and then people saying that he is not gilluilty. The prosecution wants to go to the home. They want to show where hernandez planned this killing, wants the show that he made the phone calls and the texts, and also wants to show that the home is real close by to where the body was, so there sis a balancing going on, and the prosecutor feels that he needs it and the judge is going to have to keep all of the eyes open to make sure that everything is run properly. But that is what we do judge. That is what we are required to do as judges. And a good judge can manage this, but the site visit a good piece of getting to the truth in matter. I wonder if it is going to be make a difference, because the home is now apparently filled with religious items, and memorabilia of the college days and the nfl days and football memorabilia and said to be removed before the field trip and could they have been influencing the jury with the trip . First judge seidlin and then judge hatchett. Well first they had them with the shripe and putting all of the religious artifacts around the home, and in case, the judge said i want the home just how it was when the crime took place and therefore they are covering up or removing the objects. Removing the baby pictures and the memorabilia and a new piece of furniture that was not there in 2013 and they want it to look as much adds 2013 as possible. Does it bother you at all or make a difference to you, judge hatchett . No it that is exactly what should happen don. For the prosecutors, they had pictures taken of his home right after the murder was committed, and so they can go back and re recapture that unlike the Defense Attorneys in o. J. They were not a able to get away with staging this home. It cannot be staged, and it has to be as close as possible to what happened in 2013. Do the jurors need a tour in this football stars home, because if they need the proximity, they can get into the bus all of them and they dont have to go into house, and here is the home and the murder scene, and cant photos and home video and testimony, that that cant u cant suffice, judge hatchett . Well, there u was a notion that the fiance went downstairs and brought Something Back and there this is important for the jury to see that, because at the end of the day, we need justice. And talk about the pressure of it being televised, because judge seidlin, you worked on the one of the most most famous cases of anna nicole smith, and what pressure does that put on the judges and the jury . Well, it is tremendous pressure. It is a blockbuster trial, high profile, and high publicity and the judge is going to be crossing every t, and cross every i, and she would be careful as she would in every murderr case, because in this case they are appealed and they go all of the way up to the supreme court, and the prosecutor wants a conviction, and the defense is happy to get anything less than a murder one. Yes, it is tremendous pressure on everybody, and it changes the dynamics of the case and dont let anybody kid you about that. And the added pressure of the celebrity status, and the wondering of the difference of the high profile celebrity case versus a typical citizen . Well, in every courthouse in america, you can do a murder case in 10 to 12 work days, and that is how long it would take me to do a murder trial, but in this case, they are going through it like molasses and if you look at o. J. Simpson case, it was a trial case gone w50i8dild and it took judge ito theo a year to try that case. And you said judge hatchett you dont know why they are going to the lloyd home, and also to the Industrial Park where where the body was found, and the february where the area is covered in snow, and how does that help the jurors at all . Well, it is a matter of the proximity, and i do agree that you could do it with the maps and laid out and it is covered by snow but i do think it is important, because also don, they are look ging at the proximity of the tower, and that is a factor as to whether the cell ping is picked up from the cell phone, and so at the end of the day, even though the weather has changed the circumstances, i think that the tour is important. And i do think it is important. And judge seidlin and judge hatchett thank you to the judges. Jordan took revenge on isis to carry out massive airstrikes for the brutal execution of the jordan Fighter Pilot burned alive by the terrorists. And today in washington, president obama is going to ask congress for more leeway in the war on terror. And now we are joined by our cnn analysts. Good evening, gentlemen, and thank you for joining us. Paul King Abdullah said it is the begin, and you say it is a important day in the fight against isis. Jordan is very engaged in the fight, and the jordanian spokesman described it as muslim world war against isis and i have never heard that strong of language before coming out of a major arab capital, and this could be a gamechanger moment. Isis real hly, they have been counter productive from their point of view, because there is outrage akcross the are region, and the head of the university in cairo call ing foring for the isis fighters to be crucified and some level of the angerr right nouw now. And isnt there a oh, my gosh about time to this . Well yes, many were waiting for this moment of the sunni arab powers to get fully engaged h p h this. And president obama go ging to ask for more force to use against isis and does it make a difference . Well, it is mostly a certification of what we have been doing, and he has made clear in addition to the air campaign, he is going to be training up 500 Syrian Rebels a year and creating a arab jsok team inside of there and also sending arms and training units to the Iraqi Security forces and the peshmerga. Will it work . No. We vhave been down it before, and to drop bombs from the sxi in fallujah and we have leveled the city. And within the first week of the major combat operation and he this is when we had marines and come combat operations on the ground, and within the first week the early incoronation of isis was setting up shop in mosul, and a game of whack a mole and the only thing that turned the tide is when the sunnis turned against isis is because they saw boots on the ground as a credible buffer against isis. And they dont have it now. And so some say that in order to defeat isis you need the sunni boots on the ground. Absolutely. You need the tribal fighters in iraq to play a key role like they did in the anbar awake eenning, a a ndnd awakening, and if you take back mosul, you have to have more sunnis involved and more integration into the army, and in syria, it is going to be difficult, because there is moderate sunni opposition, and partners for the United States, and difficult to defeat isis there any time soon don. And first, since we are talking about what is going to be needed cmnnn has obtained a breakdown can of the centcom, and if you look at 32 by the u. S. , and could the coalition be doing more . And shouldnt they be doing more . Well look the truth be told, the arab constituents of it, it is more for Public Relations than the actual strategy. How so . Well, you need to get, as we have discussed the sunniled countries on board for the optics and show the sunnis, it is not a war against islam, and certainly not against the sunni op populations of syria and iraq and against the barbarians who are persecuting the sunnis themselves, but i dont think that the adding more to the coalition or the more sorties on the part of jordan is going the make any difference, and the reason is that the arab countries in league with the United States dont believe in the strategy. They believe that you have to address the assad regime an fundamental shifts in iraq. And paul . The europeans believe that the iraq should be doing more and they are not launching any air strikes at all in syria, despite unprecedented terrorist threat on europe from isis and the organized plot last month against belgium, and the argument that they should be be doing more and a lot of criticism in the uk, because they are only 1 6 of the troops and they have only six tornado jets up there, and so there was criticism of the uk government for not doing enough in the fight. Should jordan expect retaliation against isis . There is a over 2,000 jordanians gone off fight, and 9,000 inside of the king dom with the pro jihadi ideology and many with the support of the isis and 6,000 refugees in the kingdom kon concerned with the infiltration of the extremists there as well. And now i want to talk about this, the perversion of the islam, and the jordans are fighting and living up to the a long time tradition of writing on the bombs, islam has nothing to do with your actions, and versus the koran on there, and drop upon them stones of fire, and they will turn their back and run, and how are the jordanians trying to separate their religion are from isis now . Well, quite clearly this is not a war with islam, because radical perversion of the faith. Jordan has a robust Counter Terrorism policy, and probably the best in the region. And the g. I. D. The general intelligence director rate, and he works closely with the cia and wants to make it clear it is not with islam, but isis. And thank you, gentlemen. The cd krshgsc says last month 102 confirmed kifs measles in 14 states and today, five children from a Day Care Center in chicago were diagnosed with measles and this for a disease that was once thought to be eliminated and now to talk about this more, cohosts of c nshgsnns new day, Allison Cammarata and chris cuomo, and this is a serious discussion and so should the vaccinations for measles be mandatory, chris cuomo . Yes, they should be. And in fact if you think about it in a way, they are effectively supposed to be mandatory, because they wind up being a big condition of being in public education. We have enforcement issues with the schools, and schools that have been lax and allowed the exemptions, and the big part of this is no oversight, because it is state by state. And the short answer is yes . Yes, i say it is impossible and there are exemption, and we dont want to do away with them because of the religious, and the amish dont get vaccinated for instance. So if you have a child for instance and i have been interviewing these people scores of these people and i have been covering this for a long time t the, and there are parents whose first child was vaccine injured and they dont want to vaccinate the second child and they dont have to, and the schools dont make them that vaccinate the second child. You have the right to endanger somebody elses kid because you dont want your kid to be vaccinated. And alisons answer is the same as mine. And he said should it be mandatory, and unless there is a proviso in there and if it is an infant or that is how it stand ss right now. And that what i am saying, but it is enforcement, but where you get outside of the box here and because we have been talking on the show so much about it you have to be careful not to inform the i ignorant here, and you have somebody afraid and you have a mom on here and she is a typical antivaxer and no she was immune compromised, and then not screened. And nobody is immunocompromised at 9monthold, and you dont know until after. And by the time you are exposed to other children, and perhaps you can delay it, but my answer is yes, because you enforce seat belt laws, and you are going to be enforcing the car seat laws and all other law, and why not this one, and when i say you dont have the right to put other kids in danger, and if you dont want to vaccinate them dont put them in public places. And so you are going to be saying if you choose not the vaccinate them dont put them in school and put them in public. Right. If you want to home school, fine, but you are putting other people in dapger and why was measles said to be eradicated . Because of the vaccinations. And why not now . Because of the nonvaxers. Well, it has off, and some of the people who have been vaccinated have not gotten the boosters or look, ur im not arguing, and i have vaccinated my kids and they have done far more good than harm, but the proposal may not be practical. And the people, and lets not get into this, but you are saying that people are not vaccinating the kids because they are concerned about the immune system but they are doing it because of a faulty report, and bad science and bad report, and that is why they are doing it. Some. Some are doing it that way, and everybody has a different reason. Reason. They are doing it, because they know somebody who they believe got injured by a vaccine. There are it does exist, nin a very, very small subset. 0. 3 of those vaccinated get injured. Very, very small subset but you only need one or a neighbor who knows one and it is going to be making the parents nervous, and that is why it is happening. And yes, the parents think that they are not going to give the vaccines, but dont give them credibility. But you cannot sweep it under the rug, and people say, the antivax er s antivaxers are crazy and wearing the tinfoil hat, and Hillary Clinton put out the tweet that the earth is round, and the vaccines are good. And this is it they dig in and start the web sites and groups. And so it is Climate Change well, Climate Change is much more up in the air and where are we on the cycle, but with the vaccines, you are right, you cannot tell somebody they are stupid and expect them to change, because it is not an intellectual position but emotional, and you have to appeal to parents on that, but they have to know that there is a price. Okay. Quickly, the politics, and the cost of costing a Measles Outbreak is huge and 107 infected has cost 5. 3 million to treat them a ndnd 12,000 to po ,000 per person and why should we pay for that . Well, in is a great challenge with that, because the disneyland outbreak that is how it started. And 102 cases now that are connected to an outbreak at disneyland and they have not figured out the source. They have a number of ways to figure it out. They dont know the patient zero. But this is bigger than do you get sued, but it is the right thing to do. You dont want to play with it politically and we had dr. Ben car carson on, and he is a smart guy and he said this is why it is happen ing happening, and the undocumented people coming into the country, and do we know of a single case of a undocumented person and do they hang out at disney world, because it is a expensive place to go, and that is playing to the politics, and something that should not be done. And they are also believing a that they could be are from the american tourists who went somewhere else and got them and then came back. And some of them are calling for the penalties of the Higher Health care penalties and jail time time, and are people overreacting . Yes, because you rare not there, and civil remedies would be difficult to do and frankly you need more harm. That doesnt sound right, but that is what is going to be moving the law and get the prosecutors advocate for things that extend the law. But some say that ebola is a warmup, and this is so much more contagious and measles can hang in the air for two hours, and with more cases, you will get more action. But how does demonize inging them help . You cannot demonize them. But it helps a little. Shaming is not helping, because the ranks are growing u. But if you are e telling the truth, how is that shaming . Well a cull prabble and responsible, that is fine and you have to make a choice in life, but what chris, and i am sort of arguing with chris, because what he is saying on for in instance new day we had a mom with one vaccine injured child and she did not want to vaccine the other, and i wanted to know the opinion, and you are clearly not the devil d, and he is saying she is too sane and she is too smart to be saying that. And she is different than someone who is looking at a faulty report. I never used the word sane, because that is slander, but she has a real case. She has a kid who got sick from the vaccine, and she should have had the next kid screened for the same antibodies but she didnt. And chris should get the last word and you can talk about it on new day tomorrow. And i will see you in the morning cammarata. If you are lucky. I will let them continue to talk. All right.
