Ignored the pleas from Health Experts not to travel this weekend. What are the concerns that youre hearing now . Reporter you know, experts are very concerned about the surge that theyve been talking to us about and theyre expecting there to be a surge upon the surge. Now, you were talking about travelers, according to the tsa 6. 8 million americans crisscrossed airports in the week before thanksgiving, thats of course what the cdc was not recommending people to do. So here we are the u. S. Shattering its covid19 hospitalization record, reporting more than 90,000 hospitalizations and that means that more than 90,000 americans are waking up this morning in a hospital room. As for cases, for the past 24 days the u. S. Has reported more than 100,000 coronavirus cases. Now, yesterday that number was more than 110,000, the number of deaths more than 1,200. Now, that is a dip in the numbers and we expected this, we are actually expecting for these numbers to dip for the next few days. Why . Well, we know that at least 20 states did not report their covid19 numbers and they didnt report the number of deaths, either. So we are expecting these numbers to go down for the next few days. Also because testing sites were closed in some states. Now, after the numbers dip a bit we are expecting a spike. That is not the surge that experts have been telling us about, that surge will come later. Now, here in the state of florida where i am this is one of the states that did not publish its numbers yesterday but Miamidade County did publish its hospitalization numbers and here they are. Ventilator use is up 48 in the past two weeks, icus 37 and hospitalizations 26 . Now, bianna, we know that Hospital Systems across the country are being tested right now and what we hear from experts is it gets to a point where they can convert beds, regular beds into icu beds, but at some point they are going to need the staff to be able to provide that care. And we are also hearing stories of people putting off elective surgeries as well. These are grim figures. Rosa flores, thank you so much. Well, President Trump suggesting deliveries of a covid19 vaccine would start in the next two weeks. Cnns senior medical correspondent Elizabeth Cohen is following the latest. Elizabeth, is he right by suggesting that . Bianna, it does not appear that he is right. It may be a couple of weeks after that and of course, bianna, that is the question on everyones mind, when will we get a vaccine . So lets take a listen to what President Trump said yesterday. We are rounding the curve. The vaccines are being delivered literally it will start next week and the week after and it will hit the frontline workers and seniors and doctors, nurses, a lot of people. Now, in order for vaccine to be delivered we are told by the cdc in order for vaccines to be delivered the fda needs to issue an emergency use authorization. The fda needs to actually do that. The fda cant do that until they meet with an Advisory Committee of independent experts. So lets take a look at a calendar because i think this will help lay it all out. That fda Advisory Committee is not meeting until december 10th. December 10th. So thats not next week, thats the week after. And then we are told by the head of the fda branch that does all of this work, he said earlier this week that it will take weeks to make a decision. He said its possible it could be done in days, but more likely in weeks. So even if it were done in days to weeks it still doesnt get to the timing that the president is looking for. So the bottom line here is what dr. Anthony fauci told cnn last week and that is vaccines will most likely be getting shots into arms the latter half of december. Again, we will most likely see the First Americans vaccinated in the latter half of december. Thats what dr. Fauci said. That timing up until now is Still Holding up. Bianna . And of course the first recipients are expected to be First Responders as well. Not the general public. That will be months ahead. Elizabeth cohen, thank you so much. Good to see you. Well, joining me now to discuss is the senior director for special pathogens at new York City Health and hospital. Thank you so much for joining us and happy thanksgiving to you. Lets start with thanksgiving because its black friday. What is your advice to those who are considering going out shopping today . Are they fine if they just wear a mask or are there still some risks by being in stores with others . Well, i think, first, individuals that are newly infected yesterday are not going to start showing signs and symptoms basically three to five days from now. Individuals that were tested before getting together are going to now basically be the contagious period. So the blanket recommendation is everybody should be quarantining for 14 days. Youre going to see a number of people with being able to spread the disease through pre symptomatic and asymptomatic spread. The numbers the statistics are very, very high. And so we want to make sure people dont go to black friday deals and shopping and what we want to avoid is basically the three cs, crowds, confined spaces and basically areas with, you know, poor ventilation, close contact settings. That is the advice were trying to give to everybody right now. Thats typically what you would find in a shopping mall. So your advice is to not go out now. You mentioned the 14day quarantine. I want to ask you about that because there are reports that the cdc may lower the days, may lessen that the days to perhaps ten days that americans would have to quarantine. Would you subscribe to that, because when people hear 14 they get alarmed. That is not something practical for most people. Fewer days would be better, but does that work medically . Yeah, so if you look at the scientific lit do you remember does it support it . It does support it in the sense that individuals are most contagious earlier on in their infection. Looking at some of the studies that were conducted, you know, basically, you know, samples that were taken from upper respiratory symptoms of individuals showed that no live virus was cultured essentially after day ten. So the science does back it up, however, you know, youre going to have maybe seven individuals that are outliers that will essentially still be able to spread the disease but that number is still very, very small. So a large number of individuals that essentially will start showing signs and symptoms the large bulk 50 will be within day three to six and that number continues to decrease to almost 10 after day ten. We want to have something thats practical that people can actually follow and comply with so i generally do agree with that. You also are a big subscriber as most medical experts in wearing masks. You say youre thankful to have that and to have that ability now that we have the data that shows that masks does help reduce the spread of the virus. What is your message to americans now who are home together perhaps for thanksgiving but perhaps for weeks longer through the rest of the holidays, how important is it to continue to heed the warnings from medical Health Experts to continue to wear masks . Mask wearing is so important and science proves it. The data is out, the verdict is out. We know that masks work. Even something as simple as a cloth mask thats multilayered we know it has the ability to, you know, essentially protect an individual and those around them from inhaling and exhaling by 50 to 80 percent. Its really important. I think the big kicker is this is not medical equipment like a ventilator that requires over 600 items to build or a pharmaceutical drug that has a long supply chain component. This is a cloth mask that all of us can do to protect ourselves and loved ones. Certainly something thats a high impact but, you know, basically something that everyone is able to do day to day. Of course just to reiterate the university of washingtons ihme study shows more than 40,000 lives could be saved over the next two months in 95 of americans wore masks. It really isnt a big ask if you think about it from the larger perspective. Let me talk to you about what we heard from Elizabeth Cohen and the president suggesting that vaccines are just a few weeks away. Lets take a listen to the president answering questions about that. Dont let joe biden take credit for the vaccines. If joe biden you know, joe biden failed with the swine flu. H1n1. Totally failed with the swine flu. Dont let him take credit for the vaccines because the vaccines were me and i pushed people harder than theyve ever been pushed before and we got that approved and through and nobody has ever seen anything like it. And youve got a big resistance in the fda from years and years of people working there. Given how polarized the country is right now from a Health Perspective would it be better if the president took himself out of the equation in terms of vaccines and just promoted the efficacy of it and the importance of people being vaccinated . 100 . The political theater absolutely has to stop because everything has been politicized and, in fact, what is happening is that because politics is trumping the science and the data, you know, behind these results, people are much more reluctant and hesitant. Even Health Care Workers. Im in a Health Care Setting and Health Care Workers are hesitant even though they will be the First Priority group because of all of this politicization of everything thats been going on. We need to focus on the science, focus on what is being provided to us thats evidencebased, we want to make sure were hearing from the scientists not a politician and then we want to follow the Public Health guidance. We know that a vaccine will be made available soon, nothing has been approved, we havent gone through anything yet and so certainly we are thinking that if all goes well we will have a safe and efficacious vaccine by end of december, but thats through a process that weve established and so, you know, im not going to follow trump and i know that a number of my colleagues are not as well. Well, a vaccine only works if people are vaccinated. Thank you so much for coming on. We appreciate your expertise. Thank you. Thank you. Well, a black friday like weve never seen before. Many americans choosing to shop online. Still plenty of major retailers moving away with big instore shopping promotions today. Cnns alison kosik is live in new york. Ive been watching you over the past few hours, ive seen more trickles of people coming in as the sun is coming up. What are you seeing . Reporter there are more people that have come in since weve been here since 6 00 a. M. But ive covered many black fridays and this black friday is certainly different from the others. I could easily say this mall is pretty empty considering its 9 00 a. M. On black friday and usually it would be crowded with people. Retailers are ready just in case crowds alive, theyve got those safety protocols in place, you see the stickers on the floor here to keep customers 6 feet apart when they wait to go into the store. Here at this store you have to wear a mask and if you dont have one they provide one for you. Once youre in the store theyre limiting the occupancy to 65 only. These are the ways that consumers are adapt to go a new way of shopping on black friday during the coronavirus pandemic. Its not just consumers adapting its retailers as well. They have a balancing act. They want to go ahead and keep their employees safe and keep customers safe but bring in revenue as well. Shoppers came out and they came out early, believe it or not, to avoid the crowds. Listen. I feel good. I feel safe. I feel comfortable. I like t theres nobody out here. Its perfect. Perfect for a shopper like me. Were wearing our masks and we should be, we decided to come early so we dont catch it at a very busy packed time. So thats the main reason why we got up as early as we did. I figured the earlier you go, the less crowd youre going to have to face and i dont know about you, but i think im right in terms of the crowds here, theres very few crowds here. And despite the fact that millions of americans continue to struggle during the coronavirus pandemic the National Retail federation is expecting a strong Holiday Shopping season saying that they expect to see sales up between 3 and 5 versus last year. Bianna . It is good to see that the retailers are promoting and encouraging safety protocols and measures. Alison kosik, a black friday like no other. Thank you so much. Still to come, President Trump finally says he will leave office if the Electoral College votes for president elect biden. But will he attend the inauguration . And with some colleges and universities closing their campuses for the rest of the semester, many students are forced to travel home for the holidays despite warnings from the cdc. Plus, millions are out of work as we head into this holiday season. When will those americans begin to see relief . All eyes are on congress. With this seal, this restaurant is committing to higher levels of cleanliness. The expertise that helps keep hospitals clean, is helping keep businesses clean too. Look for the ecolab science certified seal. Its shiori. What . Shi or i adam, emily and then. Suh um. Its shiori. Shori. Thank you, thats great. Shiori in japanese there you go. Yeah. in japanese wow, it looks beautiful in japanese really . i really like it. For the first time in three weeks President Trump answers questions from reporters and says he will leave the white house if electors dont choose him. If the Electoral College does elect president elect joe biden are you not going to leave this building . Just so you certainly i will. Certainly i will. And you know that. But i think that there will be a lot of things happening between now and the 20th of january, a lot of things. Cnns Kristen Holmes is at the white house. Kristen, there was, as usual, a lot of behavior unfitting of a president including berating a reporter who was just doing his job, but the headline that he will leave, though that was followed by him insisting he will still win, that that does stand out, though. Reporter yeah, absolutely. I mean, a lot of what happened last night stood out, particularly, as you said, the president hasnt taken a single question since election day. Now, this was a 25minuteish rant, most of it was that baseless claims of widespread election fraud. I do want to point to that sound that you just played of him talking about how a lot could happen before january 20th. He has no doubt there, again, talking about these baseless claims of fraud. The important part here is that he has an entire team of lawyers who is trying to prove this, but yet has provided absolutely no evidence. We have seen court case after court case get thrown out here. Now, lots of other things he touched on as well. He said that biden should not be picking a cabinet just yet and here is what he said when he was asked if he would attend bidens inauguration. Take a listen. I dont want to say that yet. I mean, i know the answer, i will be honest i know the answer but i just dont want to say it yet. Reporter so clearly there not answering the question, saying he knows the answers but hes not going to say whether or not he will. This is of course a president ial tradition here. Now, the other thing i want to point out that he said is he said hes going to be traveling down to georgia to campaign for those two senators, loeffler and perdue, who are in a runoff. The election there on january 5th. And even though these coronavirus cases are spiking across the country, he indicated that they were looking for a venue where they could hold a very large rally. Bianna . Some things never change. Kristen holmes, thank you so much. Well, my next guest is very familiar with peaceful transitions of power and the inner workings of the house, john podesta served as chief of staff for president clinton, he was also a counselor to president obama. John, thank you for joining us, happy thanksgiving to you and your family. And to you, bianna. So President Trump says that he will leave the white house if electors do choose biden, but hes not letting up on conspiracy theories and he is still predicting his own victory. John, at this point it really is less a matter of whether he thinks he won, but are you worried about the 70 Million People who voted for him hearing that and maybe actually buying it and believing it . Well, sure, weve seen very high numbers of Republican Voters who think that biden won, but biden won because of massive fraud. Theres absolutely no evidence of that, but this is destructive to the democracy and its harmful to what you introduced the piece with, a peaceful transition of power. I think people are ready to get on to a new administration, someone who can bring people together rather than constantly tearing them apart, but hes, you know, kind of lacked maturity and any kind of gracefulness since the election. I dont expect that to change in the next 54 or 55 days. So lets move forward. President elect biden and Vice President elect harris elect are expected to see their first president s daily brief on monday. You are very familiar with these briefings. What will president elect biden be gaining now from this moving forward . Well, he has up to the minute and deep intelligence, the collection of intelligence from all 17 intelligence agencies will be available to him. He can ask questions of the briefer if he wants more information to go back to those agencies and they will provide that to him. And he will ultimately, again, have the ability to begin to shape his National Security and Foreign Policy based on the best analysis and the best intelligence. He made history this week when he named the first woman to head to be the director of national intelligence, avril haines, who is terrific, i worked with her in the obama white house, and, you know, that team will be talking to their counterparts now and he will have the ability to kind of fit pieces together as they think about resetting the u. S. Position in the world. So despite this delay, one advantage the president elect biden has is that hes more familiar with the inner workings of the federal government than any other president going back to george h. W. Bush, right . So in terms of what your concerns are right now, what are they and what are you most focused on . Well, you know, i was concerned by the delay in the head of gsa ascertaining that biden was the was indeed the president elect, but thats happened now and i think while every day is precious in a transition, its a very short amount of time, that the biden harris transition was up and running, they were putting together the personnel system, picking their cabinet, picking the white house staff. I think you will see more of that happen next week and maybe even over the weekend, but the other thing that needs to happen is to get into those agencies, to get the information thats necessary to pull together budget information, see where the problems are, decide how youre going to confront them and of course the Biggest Issue confronting the country is how were going to get on top of the virus, what are the plans for distribution of the vaccine, the access to the people who with deep knowledge on that were being denied, but now thats resolved and i think particularly at the nonpolitical level i think theres a lot of cooperation going on. Let me ask you about some of Vice President elects initiative and some of his big focus going into the first year of office. Obviously Climate Change will be at the center of this, one of the reasons why he should a recognizable name like john kerry to lead that charge, but, in fact, if we do have a divided congress which we could very well have, is there any policy that hes going to be able to put forward of significance without legislation . Yes, look, i think he can get a lot done on Climate Change, he campaigned on it, and i think the recognition of its importance is reflected in the first ever special envoy in senator kerry secretary kerry, you know, a very, very knowledgeable, committed person, tremendous credibility across the globe, but here at home he also, i think, can work with congress where he can to build out green infrastructure, to try to find some compromise even in a closely divided senate, but hes going to have to use all the authority he has under the under the existing statutes, particularly the clean air act, to move things forward and to try to build a robust recovery to this covid economy by investing in these jobs and innovation and these industries that can provide good work, familysupporting jobs, really across the country as we transition to a Clean Energy Future and 100 clean power sector. Obviously this was an area you advised president obama on as well. John podesta, thank you so much for your insights. We appreciate it. Have a great weekend. Thanks so much. Many College Students had no choice but to go home for thanksgiving. The cdc didnt release its own guidance against Holiday Travel until just last week, too late for many students to change their plans. Experts were baffled by the lack of nationwide guidance over recent weeks as schools prepare to send students home to their families. I spoke to one student who vowed to take extra precautions before leaving campus. Reporter university of michigan sophomore elliott boz took an extra test before leaving campus and reuniting with his family in san matteo, california, for thanksgiving. A negative covid test. We first met elliott on campus last week. My family is at home and, you know, grandparents are back, so i want to make sure that im cleared before i come back home. Reporter despite a late plea from the cdc advising people to stay put, he is one of the hundreds of thousands of College Students who traveled home for the holiday, because staying put wasnt an option. The university of michigan and many other universities nationwide ended all inperson classes for the semester this week. I think everybody is kind of in the same situation. Im not unique in any way in that sense. Its just an extra level of thoughtfulness, so i had to go out of my way to get the test, be diligent about wearing a mask, washing my hands and so on. Reporter these are the scenes Health Experts desperately wanted to avoid, some 4. 8 million travelers passing through tsa check points since the cdc guidance came out last week. Its pretty tough because i think students kind of around the country are are might be thinking differently about this and everybody wants to see their family, so i think in terms of travel, everybody is trying to do their best about how to travel safely. Reporter universities across the country set their own covid testing protocol before students left campus. There are no federal guidelines in place, leaving Health Officials frustrated. Young, asymptomatic individuals with socalled silent spreaders are fueling the epidemic in this country and so colleges have a responsibility to ensure that they dont unwittingly unleash ticking time bombs into the nations airports, train stations and thanksgiving dining tables. Reporter elliotts dad mike says the family is comfortable with his sons decision to come home. He is a responsible kid and so he got tested and so that alleviates the concerns. So overall i there is always a risk, but the risk is minute ma liesed as much as possible. Reporter elliotts parents and his 81yearold grandparents will be together this thanksgiving but his older brother shura, a College Senior in los angeles, is not coming home from school. So what is this thanksgiving going to be like for you . I bet a little bittersweet having your younger son home but obviously the full family cant be together. Its going to be kind of a partial family. We had other family members who were planning to come and they are not coming anymore because of the spike in covid. So its not just just my older son, its other family members. Reporter its exactly the kind of holiday precautions dr. Fauci and other experts are pleading with americans to make. To the extent possible, keep the gatherings, the indoor gatherings, as small as you possibly can. We all know how difficult that is because this is such a beautiful traditional holiday, but by making that sacrifice youre going to be prevent people from getting infected. Reporter sound advice that will extend far beyond thanksgiving for families with College Students home for the rest of the year. In terms of the grandparents its really being thoughtful about when i see them and how i see them, talking with them, sitting apart or when giving them a hug, you know, just being thoughtful. And joining me now is joseph allen a Public Health expert and director of harvards Healthy Buildings program, he is also the coauthor of the book Healthy Buildings. Great to have you on. Happy holidays to you. Goonk. As you heard from that piece we have hundreds of thousands of College Students who will be back in their communities until january if not later. In your view should they have stayed on campus . Was it wrong to end the semester early by thanksgiving . So i dont think it was wrong to end thanksgiving the semester early by thanksgiving, i mean, many universities have done a really nice job at keeping spread down on the campus, largely through or through testing, the universities that have relied on a testing strategy in addition to these other controls. There is a light at the end of the tunnel here. Weve seen great news on the vaccines, therapeutics and rapid antigen testing, but in terms of getting kids back at home we have agency, there is a right now strategy and its these nonpharmaceutical interventions. When kids are back home or young adults are back at home there are still things they must do and its the basics, its mask wearing, distancing, limiting your social circles, opening up those windows. These are simple and boring, but boring is good and boring works. So there are things, you know, its not just the responsibility of the universities but its this responsibility of the individuals, too, as they go home and back to their community and their homes and their life away from the school. Absolutely. And as you say theres light at the end of the tunnel. Its now were seeing the ramifications of what has happened this year with Remote Learning and students not being at school. We have 74 million kids under the age of 18 in the united states, a large percentage of which are learning remotely and were beginning to see data from major School Districts showing a spike in failing grades. More than 40 of students are failing at least two classes in houston, texas, middle and High School Students in fairfax, virginia, saw an 83 increase in fs. The list goes on and on. How damaging are these trends . This is a national emergency. Thats the only way to think of this. Its unconscionable that we have tens of millions of kids who are outside of school. The risks from covid19 in schools are manageable. The risks of kids out of school are escalating rapidly every single day. You mentioned a few of these here. We have reductions in kindergarten enrollment, decreases in literacy. This is happening around the country n addition to these academic impacts we see things like missed meals, a billion missed meals this spring alone from kids out of school. We see impacts on these virtual dropouts. Hundreds of thousands of kids who just we dont know where they are. Theyre lost in the system. So we have these massive cost of kids out of school yet we know how to keep both kids and adults safe in school. This is the number one most urgent priority we have in this country is getting kids back into schools safely. And you have promoted and published examples of how to do just that. And yet even today were seeing schools closing where there doesnt appear to be much spread. New york city most recently. Meantime, you look at whats happening in europe, their priority is keeping the schools open. Why arent we seeing that here . Yeah, its been shocking. I wrote an article on this in june, my team at harvard released a 60page report on Risk Reduction strategies, we had evidence from europe from the spring that schools are not driving community transmission, we now see the same thing in the u. S. Data, we knew the cost of School Closures would be enormous and devastating, we are seeing those costs. We can get kids back in school, theres actually some simple things, masks, number one, this is going to be the most effective strategy you can put in. Schools can open windows even a couple inches, increase the amount of outdoor air coming in, better filtration. These are actually really actionable things that nearly every school can do. Ive been very careful not to make recommendations that take months and millions of dollars to implement. There are simple strategies we can do to keep kids and importantly adults safe in schools. You can understand the concern from teachers but like you said there are some solutions and this is what president elect biden has said will be a top priority for him as well. Joseph allen, always great to have you on. Freight to see you. Thank you so much. Nice to see you. Thanks. Holiday season is officially here but for millions of americans its a stark reminder that their Unemployment Benefits are just weeks away from running out. So where is congress . Millions of americans remain out of work as coronavirus Unemployment Benefits and eviction protections are set to expire by the end of the year. Getting the economy back on track will be a task for the incoming administration. So far president elect biden has named janet yellen for treasury secretary with more names on his Economic Team set to be revealed next week. Here to discuss is cnn political commentator and opinion columnist for the Washington Post catherine rampel. We picked the right color today. We did. Lets get down to this important subject. Can a stimulus deal be reached in congress with a little time left and how bad will it be if they dont reach a deal . I am very concerned that they will not reach a deal. It seems like there is very little interest even in governing until a new president comes into office in january, which is just not an acceptable outcome, but, look, the two parties have been negotiating for months now and still have not reached a deal. Mitch mcconnell has indicated his openness to having a deal, to having some sort of additional round of fiscal relief, but has not actually made the movements necessary to get that to happen. And if it doesnt happen there are dire consequences for americans and for small businesses. Something like 12 Million People are expected to lose their Unemployment Benefits the day after christmas, already 26 Million People have said that they did not have enough to eat in the previous seven days according to the most recent census data and there is a lot of suffering out there. This deal needs to get done now, not two months from now but now. The lines around the food banks just kill you when you consider this is the richest country in the world and you see so many people that are in need of just food. But it really does appear to be a tale of two economies because businesses across the country are on the brink of closing their doors, but we are expecting retailers to see a 3 to 6 spike in Holiday Shopping this season. Is that going to give republicans pause on pushing forward on any sort of deal . It could very well. As you point out, the experience weve seen so far is this sort of tale of two economies where some people are called it a kshaped recovery that you have people who are in whitecollar jobs, more highly educated, can still work from home, that sort of thing, theyre basically okay. The jobs that they had lost have been if not entirely recovered, somewhat close to it. And they have a lot of savings that they have a cushion that they have as their cushion that they can go out out to use to buy christmas presents. Meanwhile, you have a large segment of the economy that has been left behind, businesses that have permanently closed and even when there is a vaccine may not be around to rehire people, and i think if you have politicians only looking at the segment of the economy thats doing well, they are not getting a complete picture, and they are not feeling the sense of urgency that americans who are hungry, who are facing homelessness, who are facing bankruptcy, eviction, et cetera, are you know, those fears that theyre feeling every single day. Yeah. Congress really needs to look at the entire picture here. Instead of hearing more on that, obviously the president has been touting dow hitting 30,000, which for millions of americans means absolutely nothing. Lets talk about president elect bidens pick for treasury secretary, janet yellen. She is a strong advocate for a big Economic Relief package but there are some progressives worried about her past record focusing on the countrys growing debt may think student loan forgiveness may be off the table. She is highly qualified, the first fee made mail at the fed to run the fed. Are there any indications of how yellen would tackle this particular crisis . Im not worried about her ability to synthesize the data, to figure out what exactly is the most what are the most effective tools available to address the need thats out there and whats the most equitable way to do that as well. If you look at her actual Economic Research one of the things she has focused on both when she was at the fed and prior to that was about equity, fairness, you know, things that i would consider american values, right . How do you use economic tools to achieve those ends. In terms of her actual weaknesses im less worried about, you know, is she going to push Student Loan Debt forgiveness, which a lot of economists have argued is maybe not the most equitable way to, you know, deal with this recession, but more so does she have the political chops because this is a more political job. She is a proponent of getting women back into the workforce as well, something she advocated prior to this recession and obviously we know women have been impacted even more than men during times of covid. Another lifechanging technology from abbott, ocean spray works with nature every day to keep you healthy north korean hackers are suspected of targeting vaccine maker astrazeneca. David culver joins me now. What do we know about this . I think this speaks to the desperation coming out of north korea and trying to tap into any of the information surrounding coronavirus vaccines. This is british drug maker, astrazeneca. As theyve been moving forward with their vaccine production and research more than anything else. It appears, according to reuters, that north korean hackers tried to get some information from the staff working at astrazeneca. How did they do it . According to reuters they used things like linked in and whats app, they would send information reporting to look like job offers to entice them. Then they would engage with the Staff Members and sent links laced with malware potentially that would allow them potentially access into astrazenecas internal system. According to reuters, the north korean hackers were not successful. This speaks to whats happening more than anything else in north korea and their determination how to curb the outbreak within that country. We know there has been an extreme level of desperation there. While theres not a lot of transparency, we see through actions such as what weve heard of today, such as the execution of a north korean official for their lack of ability to control the outbreak. So it shows you what theyre doing there to try to curb all of this. More than anything else, the determination to try to get ahold of the vaccines is becoming increasingly apparent here. And, look, i have to say, david, this had been something that many feared and perhaps anticipated throughout this year, so Many Companies have been trying to quickly get a vaccine together. So this shouldnt necessarily be a surprise, nonetheless, this does show you the determination of the north korean regime. Obviously a bad few days for astrazeneca as well. Their reports say they released in their research so far had not been as promising they had initially expected. David culver, thank you so much.
