100 people being treated in napa and sonoma area hospitals. There are 20,000 people there this morning that have been ordered to evacuate. 2,000 homes and businesses destroyed. The images, just a few of them. The Highway Patrolman said he thinks it could be one of the worst disasters in california history. Those are remarkable numbers and the weather not helping out at all today. Reporter its just unreal. When you look at the video, its just terrifying. In fact, when we got here and were able to see everybody around us, we were actually just couldnt believe that certain neighborhoods are just gone. I want to show you, as we walk around, we have been in the neighborhood for quite sometime and we were hoping daylight would be able to show you some of this, and the sun has not come up. When you look at the house, you almost cant make it out. The only thing we can kind of see is theres a washer and dryer and this repeats itself over and over again. Theres 17 people who have died in this disaster, and then you think about this, 183 people are still missing. They say they dont believe all of those people have died because there have been communication issues here. Cell phone service is spotty at this point because some of the towers have been affected. Despite all that, now you are having issues who are come into the area to loot, and they have been coming through here and picking through peoples belongings and trying to take it and officers are dealing with that as well. When you combine that altogether and realize they are still dealing with this and 0 containment with the fire, you know the next few hours will be interesting, especially for the firefighters who have been working backtoba to back hour trying to contain this. And one thing that stuck out was this couple, married 75 years and lost their life in this fire. The man was 100 years old and his wife was 98 years old and they were not able to make it out of this fire. We went around yesterday and looked at some of the damage that was here. Block after block, it looks like a war zone in certain parts of the area, and of course you know there are burning embers all over the area. Right now the winds have died down, which is good news and you never know when the winds are going to pick back up. Today it could be windy again. In this home where all the homes are flattened, the only thing we seen alive was somebodys kitten. We will try to give it water later on, but you have to understand how many animals were probably left behind. It will be interesting to see how this devastation plays itself out over and over again when the sun comes out. The fire 0 contained. We have an ominous weather forecast. We have two ominous forecasts, one today and one for friday. Today we are talking about wind gusts to about 40 Miles Per Hour, and thats dreadful. Anytime you get a wind gust over double digits like 12 or 13, thats when embers can fly. 35 active fires, and there are thousands of hot spots that will be fanned by the winds today. What happened in santa rosa was the interface where people would like to have their homes next to the trees and cal fire says please give us some defensible space. Thats what people are trying to do right now. Defensible space, because all of these hot spots with the winds, blowing in Different Directions now, so you have a hot spot that is here, and it was burning to the southeast and now its burning to the southwest and other homes will be involved here, or at least in the way. 20 Miles Per Hour tonight in sacramento, and thats east bay. Not so much for north bay where the fires are actively burning. A 15mileperhour wind gust keeps going, and you cannot get in front of that. The relative humidities are good today. I saw one report in santa rosa of 42 degrees this morning. Thats good. It gets moisture back into the plants, but then today the relative humidity is down to 20 , and thats not good. A cold front will come through today and on friday with windy conditions behind the front. Thank you, and keep an eye on that for us, please. Meantime, explosive new allegations against Harvey Weinstein. More than two dozen women are speaking out against the hollywood mogul assaulting years of harassment and three accusing him on rape. His brother claiming he knew nothing about the alleged abuse. The new yorker says they witnessed or have knowledge of unwanted advances. There are no open investigations into Harvey Weinstein now and no new allegations have been made to police, and thats in new york, but we dont know other departments. Over two dozen people have come forward with strikingly similar accounts with weinstein over the course of decades. The board of the Weinstein Company insisting on tuesday that they had no knowledge of the explosive allegations against cofounder, Harvey Weinstein, calling the claims, quote, an utter surprise. This despite the widespread rumors that his abuse was the worst kept secret in hollywood. And even knocking him at the oscars in 2013. Congratulations, you women no longer have to pretrend to be attracted to Harvey Weinstein. Paltrow telling the New York Times when he was 22 a meeting with weinstein ended with him placing his hands on her and suggesting they head to the bedroom for massages. And ashley judd greeted her in a bathrobe, asking if he could give her a massage or if she could watch him shower. Angelina jolie telling the times weinstein made unwanted advanced in her in a hotel room in the late 90s. We went to the bathroom and came out in a robe and asked to give him a massage and i said no, i didnt feel comfortable. He said everybody does it. Two other women recounting similar stories on cnn last night. And said, well, at least if you wont give me a massage then can i see your breasts. He told me he would give me a threepicture deal and could get my movie made, and you know, i dont doubt that he could but he said, you know, you have to watch me but you have got to stay and watch me masturbate. Disturbing audio from a 2015 police sting. Weinstein attempts to lure the actress into his hotel room before admitting to groping her the day before. I am feeling very uncomfortable right now. Please come in right now, for one minute you touched my breast. I am sorry. Just come in. Im used to that. You are used to that . Yes. While the recording is horrifying to listen to, what emerged from the audio was insufficient to report a crime under new york law. Weinsteins reps said any allegations of nonconsensual sex are denied by weinstein. Weinstein is a longtime supporter of Hillary Clinton and a longtime donor to the democratic party, raising 1 million for the democrats since the 90s. After days of silence clinton condemned weinstein saying the behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. And obama said any man that demeans and degrades women in such a fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable regardless of wealth or status. The film company that he cofounded, that may change its name as early as this week, guys. Thats a lot. Speechless. Yeah. Joining us now, brian stelter, and a former prosecutor, thank you both. Brian, you have important new reporting. What can you tell us . A law firm being brought in by the Weinstein Company to conduct an internal investigation into what happened. The Board Members are denying that they knew about this wrong doing, but its clear that some staffers looked the other way. Its a company with about 200 people. Some knew nothing. Did not interact with Harvey Weinstein and others did know him well and knew he was a volatile profane executive, and some said we knew he was a creep but not a criminal. A name change is in the works. We are seeing Harvey Weinsteins name taken off the credits of his shows like project runway. Wiping away a name is not going to wipe away the stain on the companys reputation. Should they have known he was more than just a creep and is what they did criminal . We will talk about his legal liability, but since we started with the board what kind of trouble are they in legally right now and civilly as well . It would be more civil exposure than criminal exposure. The criminal is the acts of weinstein depending on how they were done and the state laws that apply. Civilly, if the company knew and if there were reasons for them to know and they continued to know it and it was a joke around the place, and that would be found out through civil discovery and civil depositions, then the company does need to worry. Certainly an internal investigation is important, not only if they are just changing their name but they have to change the culture because for anybody, any director or actor or actress that worked with them, they need to make changes. You have three women claiming rain, and four claims of Sexual Assault, and more than a dozen coming forward with harassment claims, and according to the new yorker reporting, ten months of reporting, 16 former and current executives at the Weinstein Company said they witnessed or had knowledge of unwanted sexual advanced, and no current nypd investigation open. I get there are statute of limitations on those things, and you have the tape from not that long ago and then they said they did not have enough to go on. Did Law Enforcement drop the ball in any respect here . You have to look at the cases individually. And they probably should go back and look at the cases although it may be too late. Any District Attorneys Office with the new administration has to look at these cases carefully, and whether its a felony rape, which would be require force, or against the will, or some lesser Sexual Assault charges or misdemeanors, which, again, the statute of limitations because the misdemeanors are much shorter, and certainly complaints have to be made, but Law Enforcement can do it on their own. I, myself, was a victim in a case and it was Law Enforcement that came to me because as a young lawyer i was afraid to name a judge. I have been there and know this from all sides. Sometimes it does take a direct investigation to seek out rather than waiting for the women to come forward. The entertainment word, this morning, brian s. A remarkable place to be. We are seeing a longtime friend of Harvey Weinstein write you have done terrible things to a number of women over the years, and matt damon, i will peel my eyes back farther than i ever have to look for this type of behavior. A lot of people have to ask themselves serious questions, brian. How much did they let slide by . Its a long overdue period of soul searching. We can see things are improving and women are taking more seriously than ten or 20 years ago, and that is true. We are in the middle of a profound cultural shift. At the same time theres a power imbalance in hollywood. Mostly male executives, and some of an older generation, and green lighting movies, and picking who is going to star in films and tv shows, and this does not end with Harvey Weinstein. Thank you. I know you are all over this, brian. Coming up, we will speak oneonone with lauren saw vaughn who was trapped by Harvey Weinstein, and what she says happened next will stun you. And then one of the president s oldest friends talking about about the president s tone and policies, and why he says the president is, quote, better than this. He says its not just the tweets he takes issue with, its some of the key policies, like the travel ban and the wall. Listen to what he says. I keep on saying, but who is your base . You dont have a natural base. Your base now is the world and america. You have all the different constituencies show them who you really are. In my opinion, hes better than this. Joining us to discuss this, cnn contributor and political come n taters. It was intended to humanize trump, and he is trying to explain trump to the world and try to let some of the world filter into the trump bubble and connect with him. Unfortunately, for this effort, as well intentioned as it may be, the time for inspired amateurs has passed. We wish him the best of luck. He has not been vetted. We have seen friends of the president try to communicate him through the media, through cable television. You know about the president s base and spent a lot of time reporting with them and on them. Do you think hes right when he says you dont have a base . If hes not, do they support him in spite or because of the language, these tweets . I think they support him in spite and because of the comments. You know, my takeaway that i felt was really important in that interview was the notion that he has too many yes men around him. I think that that is always something a trap that any leader falls in, right . Whether its a the head of a corporation, a ceo, or a president , or a senator. If you have too many people around you telling you everything you do is great, you know, you need that person to say, oh, my god, you cant do that. I think that to me that was the most important point of the interview. As far as his base, he has a natural base, an interesting alignment of different kinds of people, and a lot of people that, as you know, we missed during the election. I have not seen any evidence of them tkpwagoing anywhere yet, b doesnt mean they wont. If it becomes part of the swamp that will become his biggest problem. Interesting, getting criticized by a good friend, and also criticized by marshal mathers, otherwise known as eminem. A scathing freestyle performance that aired last night on the b. E. T. Awards. Racism is the only thing hes fantastic for, because thats how he gets [ bleep ] rocks off and hes orange. Yeah, sick tan, thats why he wants us to disband because he cannot stand the fact we are not afraid of trump, thats why he keeps screaming drain the swamp because hes in quick sand. It was direct and you could call it fierce. He said if you are a fan of mine you cant be a fan of donald trump and a fan of mine. What do you make of this . Thats an act of courage, and hes putting his money where his mouth is. Having said that, i have heard its not terribly good. I have heard some of his music before that was much better than this, and this is sort of freestyle. Hes an aging guy that is clinging to relevance. I see a weird trend here. There was a big story in the New York Times column talking about the weinstein issue and how liberals stood behind ted kennedy, and woody allen is still out there making movies, and jimmy kimmel did the man show, and now theres a great fight for health care. Eminem rapped about rape and abusing women and horrible things, and maybe that was an account and maybe that was slim shady, but what is this . Are we supposed to take this seriously as political commentary . What was it when he was talking about raping women . It was commentary . I dont know. Its really important, and politics resinates with so many more people and it encompasses all in one way or another. Yeah, what do you make of that argument . Who is he . Donald trump himself comes out of the same exchange between cultural politics and electoral politics, and if he wants to be heard, and obviously eminem and anybody else has the right to do it, and i find it a degrading of the conversation, unfortunately. It would have been unthinkable for any serious musical or hollywood figure to stand in front of a camera and cuss out the president in such vulgar terms and we take it as the norm. The flip side is the access hollywood tape, and we have a problem about how we talk to and about each other. Its easy for people to dismiss it. I have to say, you know, the goal perhaps of being divisive is to divide, so has the president succeeded in getting what he wants . Racially divisive, and as deliberately racially divided as he wants to be, then you have eminem, and yeah, important to a number of reasons. Maybe eminem will run against kid rock. Thats not totally out of the question. We keep asking kid rock to come on the show and let us know if hes going to run. Please come. Joe biden is going to College Campuses to talk about Sexual Assault on College Campuses but said nothing about Harvey Weinstein. Hillary clinton, it took five days to condemn him . I am not sure why they made that such a big gap to come out against this. Obviously not obviously, but you would think that the president , the former president obama certainly would not have known about his behavior. I mean, his daughter, his young daughter was an intern for them, right . Right. So he probably didnt know, but why they waited such a long time is sort of gets to the nugget of inauthenticity where you had to massage the sentence and have it tested out with a bunch of different people before you make sure its perfectly worded. It would have been better if it was instinctive and from the heart than with just the right words attached to it. Its not a trick question. Matt lewis, i have seen a lot of conservatives writing with glee, and its a reminder that a dozen women came out and accused the president of Sexual Misconduct last year, and that happened a year ago and hes the president of the United States and thats still just out there. This also reminds me of the roger ailes story, and when in that case, it was like Gretchen Carlson is the first person that goes forward and then you have all these other people, including meg megyn kelly, and the same thing here with weinstein, you had ashley judd initially, and now you are up to like, Angelina Jolie and others, so it makes me wonder how sadly prolific this guy was and how am bick yao wus this was. One thing that could change that would allow more of the women that could speak is changing the laws on the secret arbitration, which is why a lot of women in the New York Times article could not speak for a long time. The president making the case for his tax plan in pennsylvania a little later today. Ahead of the trip saying if Congress Approves his plan, the economy would grow by leaps and bounds. And Christine Romans joins us now. The president , among other things, suggested today nobody has noticed the stock market increase. The fact that the dow has gone up for the last few months. Nobody has noticed we have a whole segment on the show called before the bell where you come on and tell us about how it has gone up. Poppy and i just yesterday at this very moment 24 hours ago pointed out there were 64 record highs in the dow since the election. Let me show you what that looks like. The president taking credit for the record highs but this is a trend, about eight years long. There has been a nice recovery here based on corporate profits and a covering economy, and more recently the trump bump you see is because of expectations of tax reform, and just a general pro business feeling in the Business Community because of the election of donald trump. Lets look at the numbers since the election, which we point out, periodically i would say ad nauseam in the early mornings i talk about what happened in the economy and the stock market. The dow since the election up an astonishing 25 , and the tphnas, and 27 . We talk about this every single day. The president will be pumping tax reform and tax cuts later today when he is in pennsylvania. Theres some starting to say the market maybe priced in a very good economy, and a recordhigh corporate profits and things are going well, and a 16year low in the unemployment rate, and could tax cuts if they are not paid for actually melt up the stock market, cause a problem for the stock market . Also the next fed chief will have to decide what to do if the economy really starts humming along, and could raise rates, and it starts to get very complicated. Theres a short list emerging for who the next fed chair will be. Kevin warsh the frontrunner. If janet yellen is not reappointed, he would be the first in 30 years not to have the job two terms in a row. A lot of those guys are not an economists, and that would break the playbook. Thank you so much. Appreciate it. Startling new details in the las vegas massacre. This morning new information on the las vegas massacre, and some of it is disputed. The owner of the Mandalay Bay Hotel is questioning the shooting timeline from police. We are also learning the shooter hoped to cause more carnage triggering what could have been a huge explosion. What have we learned this morning, sarah . Reporter there are several things, and one of which we now heard from another person who was on the 32nd floor who was working for the hotel. He was a maintenance engineer that came up to that floor and he describes what happened and how compos, who was the Security Guard up there as well and had been shot in the leg, and he describes how compos changed his life. He gives another look of what was happening on the 32nd floor. I started to hear shots go off. They were not in the hallway yet. As soon as they stopped i saw jesus pop out because the doors were set back a foot and he popped out and yelled at me to take cover. I told myself, you know, remain calm, if i freak out right now its only going to get me killed or injured. Remain calm and call it over the radio so we can get police on their way as soon as possible. Reporter we also heard from police that a timeline changed. I am sure he plays into that, because police have now spoken with them. The timeline changing drastically from the very beginning. We are talking about when the Security Guard went up to the 32nd floor, because there was a door ajar or an alarm going off and he was told to go up there and try to figure out what door was ajar. He goes up and Authorities Say instead of interrupting the shooter shooting down at the crowds, he was actually shot at first and then six minutes later is when steven paddock ended up turning the gun on the crowds below at the route 91 concert. Its a big change and we are hearing from mgm resorts which is the Parent Company of mandalay bay, and they are disputing that and saying we are not sure about the accuracy of what has been out by officials publicly. Theres definitely a spat now between what police are saying and what the mgm resorts are saying that owns the mandalay bay, and ultimately police are sticking with the new timeline that, indeed, compos was shot six minutes before the shooter turned his guns on the crowds. We are getting new information about the crowd may not have been his only target. How he was targeting the jet fuel tanks at the airport nearby. Yeah, we knew the tanks had been hit by fire a few days ago, but there were incendiary rounds, and he was trying to create some kind of explosion. That did not happen. In talking to the Las Vegas Review journal, the sheriff said we think we need to put more protection outside the tanks, clearly concerned this man was trying to blow something up as well as kill so many people. All right, sarah, thank you so much for that reporting. This morning thousands of people in california are facing a devastating reality. Their homes completely destroyed as the wildfires continue to burn all over northern california, and zach block is one of those people. This is photos of his familys home before and after the fire ripped through the neighborhood. The home, just gone. Completely gone, except for the chimneys. Jack block joins us by phone. We are so sorry for the loss of your home. We are looking at the pictures right now which are just crazy to see. Sorry for that. More importantly, how are you and how is your family doing . The family is good. Obviously thats the number one we are kind of figuring it out as we come across things that we need to worry about, and the support has been unreal. We are just kind of taking it one step at a time. You have an 11monthold little girl and its hard for anybody to flee their home, and especially with an 11monthold. All the memories and photos and all of that. Are you getting the help you need at this point from insurance, somewhere to stay and help eventually rebuilding . Yeah, and, you know, my brother is a fireman for the city of berkeley and that department has been so helpful. They have gone above and beyond to help us out and get where we need to be. Its an amazing, you know, situation to have that type of support, and the friends and family we have are coming together, and its really overwhelming with the amount of love we are seeing. So you had to leave basically in the middle of the night with nothing more than the clothes on your back. How quickly did this develop . How much warning did you really have . We woke up at 1 00. We started to smell it. I woke up my brother and my wife. We started to figure out, you know, how far it was. As we were looking in the backyard we started to notice that the air started to become a little more dense in smoke, and then there was a lot of light from the fire shining on the other side of the freeway. Within ten minutes, you know, my brother and i were out in the backyard with the hoses and trying to fight off as much as we could, and then we had to evacuate within five minutes of the fire touching down on the backyard, and as we were leaving, seeing the house pretty much involved and getting out of their safely, but very concerned about what was happening. Zach, we are just glad you are okay as we look at these images. All material things gone, yes, but so many memories for your family. We are really sorry. Good luck. If we can help, let us know. Will do. Thank you, guys. Good luck, zach. Ahead, another show of force from the u. S. Military amid reports that north korean hackers stole u. S. Warplanes . Thats ahead. [burke] abstract accident. Flew firefighter jets over the Korean Peninsula overnight. This is the firstever nighttime military exercise in conjunction with south korea and japan. The drill came after President Trump met with top defense officials to discuss how to respond to threats from north korea. So all of this is happening as were learning north korean hackers allegedly stole classified documents that included u. S. War plans. Lets go to seoul, south korea. Our international correspondent, Alexander Field joins us from there. Stole u. S. War plans . Reporter hey, poppy, john, yeah, it is what it sounds like. Look, we know that north korea has a cyber threat as part of its arsenal, really, of weapons that it plans to use. We are seeing evidence of this according to a lawmaker here in south korea. He is a member of the ruling party. He says he was given the information by the south Korean Defense ministry and what he describes in a hack that happened back in august of 2016, when he said that north korean hack terse got into the Defense Ministrys database and they were able to recover about 235 gigabytes worth of data, that include u. S. And south korean war plans, including procedures on how to decapitate the leadership in north korea. Remove the leadership in north korea. The Defense Ministry has been asked about this breach. They are not confirming it or denying it. Similar kind of response from the pentagon, but they are putting out a message through a spokesperson, assuring people that the u. S. plans remain fully secure. To that end, we know that plans for military omissiptions to ad the growing conflict with north korea are being regularly and routinely updated at the request of the administration. It was just a day ago that President Trump was briefed by his Top National Security advisers about the range of options that are available in terms of dealing with north korea. And really, it was just hours after that, poppy and john, that we saw these exercises taking place in the overnight hours here in asia, between the u. S. And japan, also the u. S. And south korea. The exercises further included the u. S. Flying b1b bombers over the Korean Peninsula. Thats important, because thats a move that is seen as a provocation by pyongyang. Its a move flarankly enrages them. And youll remember back in the summer, it was the flights of some of those bombers that prompted the regime to threaten to land missiles in the waters near the u. S. Territory guam if the pacific in retaliation for those baomber flights. Of course, those bombers take off from the base in guam. As of yet, no response from pyongyang. But certainly, we are waiting more it and well keep you up to speed when we hear anything. And the reaction seems to carry with it some kind of reaction. Alexand alexandra field, thanks so much.
