This president since he took office in the yearandahalf that hes been here has created 700,000 new jobs for africanamericans. Thats 700,000 africanamericans that are working now that werent working when this president took place. When president obama left after eight years in office, eight years in office he had only created 195,000 jobs for africanamericans. President trump in his first yearandahalf has already tripled what president obama did in eight years. Not only did he do that for africanamericans, but hispanics, 1. 7 more hispanics are working now. This is a president who carries ability auto americanings a put policies in place. I know there are separate entities, is it likely the white house is considering pursuing something in the way of possible action towards omarosa for violating i certainly wouldnt be able to comment on any potential legal matter, major. A moment ago, you said one motive of omarosa was to tear this entire place down. What do you mean by that and do you have ongoing concerns that while she was here, shed tape other conversations that could either be damaging to the reputation of this white house or relevant towards something youd rather keep qui snet. I think the greatest concern is the lack of integrity this individual has shown. One other thing, she played a tape recording of the president. Do you have own doubt that is an you a thoen thent kif authentic conversation . I dont. The president said he was unaware. Is that a true representation . As i said moments ago, the president had a direct conversation with general kelly, asked him to try to work things out. If it didnt, he gave general kelly the full authority to make decisions about hiring, firing, including with respect to omarosa. Because he knew what would happen, hed approve snit. On the timing i think he knew it was certainly a possibility. As to the fact whether or not kelly tauld i called the preside president , i dont think. So has isis been practically langished . Certainly we know the caliphate has been destroyed, certainly there continue to be isis fighters. That itself why we continue to take all of those threats seriously and look for ways every single day to defeat them and protect American People and our allies. Can i go back to the race question again. I get that you can cite things statistics that might be positive statistics for policies the president has done for africanamericans and minorities. What do you sa i to people who look at the pattern of the comments the president made specifically about African Americans and feel like he is singleing those folks out because of their race . Are they missing something . Are they deluding themselves . What do you sa i to them . There are other of people that look at to the pattern and says, yes, he says neg testify things about a lot of people. There seems to be a pattern of singleing out africanamericans and commenting about their lack of intelligence or their looks . I dont think so. As i said the president has said similar things about a number of individuals, certainly that are not africanamerican or any other minority. I can simply talk to you about the policies and the person that the president is. I think in again the person that a lot of his contradiction say he is, certainly wouldnt have been in business with him for decades, certainly he wouldnt have had bill and hillary clinton. They attended his wedding. A number of democrats begged him for campaign continentbutions. If they were who he said he was, why did they have these relationships with him . I think its very convenient these accusations came someone rung for office. He has shown time and time again through his actions and policy, he wants to do everything he can for all americans to make america better and not just for a certain citigroup of people but for everybo owe a Certain Group of people. I think to try to single that auto to one group is frankly silly. I think if you did a comparison, there are a lot of nasty things out there from other people. Do you think that the president is always going to fight fire with fire. This isnt something that isnt knew. Its what the American People voted for him. They overwhelmingly elected him to be the president of the United States. Since he took office, he has governed in a way that is helping all americanles. Frankly, if we want to look at who is creating division in the country. I think think the media has done certainly more than the president ever has by elevating people like the author of this book. By focusing on sparsely attended rally, instead of all of the attended policies that this administration and this president are enacting that are helping people not just on the economy, but on school choice, on prison reform, thats disproportionately affected africanamericanings and hispanics. This is a president governing to help all americans. I think we will be better off if the media gave that more attention. You expressed how you feel about omarosa since the public cakes of this book. How is she viewed by fellow Staff Members here at the white house while she worked here . Did she pull her own weight . Is she viewed as untrustworthy . Did you trust her . Im trying to get a sense of whether your view of her has changed with the publication of this book . Certainly, ive expressed some disappointment. Im not going to get into a back and forth on personal feelings that i have with a former colleague. I think the focus not only of my time here, but of this administration is looking forward and how we can actually implement policies that matter to the American People, not with liked who in the building behind me. She hedged quite a bit as people on the trump cleanup squad will have to do. He will often say one thing and later contradict that statement. So in this case, when asked, look, ive never heard him say it. Hey, did you ever ask him . No, she didnt ask him. Then she did put in a disclaimer, i havent been in every room. I dont know. Loose, weve heard enough fog around this stuff. Lets keep in mind the n word is the most offensive word in the english language. There is kind of no way to spin it as, it was a joke or maybe i forgot or you know you dont have any tape to prove it. Its really not something that a responsible leader would let sort of hang around in this very sloppy way of the kinds we just heard. And gloria, to the point about the questions and theyre valid on this pattern, where the president does continue to attack prominent africanamericans intelligence. Whethers the omarosa, lebron james, nfl players, whether its don lemon. It is, indeed, a pattern. Yeah, it is a pattern. She denied it. She said she said it wasnt about race. She said it wasnt about race. He fights back when hes attacked. Weve heard all that before. But the one thing that struck me was that i think the president got caught in a little lie here. Because she, Sarah Sanders said, you know, he had a conversation with john kelly. Kelly says, you know, there is a problem here. The president knew it was a real possibility that kelly was going to let omarosa go. Then remember we heard the audio of the conversation with the president and omarosa saying he didnt know anything about it. Right. I dont like to hear that he said. Of course, he knew. He had had a conversation with john kelly about it. Sarah sanders just told us. So there you are. One more lie. We are right, good to have you back today, what stood out to you in all of this . So, i think in looking at this, we have to think, omarosa knows exactly what shes doing. She knows exactly how to throw the right kind of bombshells, how to get under the president s skin. Then when everybody is talking ab it, everybody is kinds of shouting about it, getting tangled up in all kind of various tripiness, she drops another bombshell, which is usually receipts for her side of the story. So were dealing two two groups of people, two groups of people who have intense credible issues and yet one side continues to drop receipt after receipt after receipt. Is are what happens after knows tapes, each and every time those tames come out . It provokes a reaction from trump. It provokes a reaction from the white house, omarosass name stays in the headlines for another day. Various people are caught in various lies. So this is a strategy, it seems like its working pretty effectively. Its like Sarah Sanders says, the media is fixated on this story. We should be talking much weightier things. I will go back to the press secretary. That you know it is the president. S the her boss, who has tweeted roughly ten times about this individual in the last 24 hours. Ten times. And yes, we should question everything that comes out of the mouth omarosa, but we are putting president s words under a microscope. Sarah sanders is leaving out a detail, her boss tweeted it out, set if news cycle. I think its so kraechltz it makes us almost question our insanity, we are living in the age of gas lighting the country right now is hurting so much, brooke from racial divisions, from charlottesville to nfl to the all right. Why cant this president who by the way called nazis very fine people come out and make a bold statement, antiracism, saying im not racist, or i dont support these people. Instead he calls a woman of color a black woman, an africanamerican woman a dog. Now he is trying to act like this doesnt matter the media is to blame. His language and rhetoric is so offensive to hear the least we can do is admit that this president is a racist and end of discussion. Hmm. I want to play. Listen to how omarosa responds to being called a dog by the president of the United States. I think that it just shows you that if he would say that publicly, what else would he say about me privately . He has absolutely no respect for women, for africanamericans as evidenced by him to ask the chief of staff to lock me for two hours to threaten me and say things could get ugly to me and there would be damage to my reputation. He is unif it to serve as the president of the United States. Areva. How would you respond yeah, i think what was disturbing to me about the press conference, brooke, is the naiv naivete. The purposeful manipulation. There is no diversity in the white house. When we talk about these issues of race and sex, its not through the lenses of other people of color. Kelly anne conway couldnt identify a high ranking african midminstration that serves in trumps administration. When you deal a an administration with any people of color at the table to weigh in on these decision, talk about the issues that concern africanamericans, you get these really hollow statements from Sarah Sanders about all the wonderful things that donald trump is doing for black people. Black people dont feel at all that donald trump is working on our behalf. His criminal justice policies are abhorrent. Theyre not advancing any issues for people of color. This notion about these 700,000 jobs. Im not an commitment although i have a degree in checks. I know economists are cringing when they hear donald trump talk about all of the jobs that hes created for africanamericans in the way that he describes, disparaging remarks about president obama. So i would say to Sarah Sanders, get some black people in this white house. Then we can have a real conversation about these inflammatory statements you continue to make, her boss makes about black people. Brooke, just listening to that video you just played of omarosa saying donald trump shouldnt be president of the United States, having listened to omarosa for years talk about how marvellous and how wonderful donald trump is, it makes me think that they deserve each other. They are very much the same people in many ways. Each of them is ruthless in etc. Own way. Each person has a strange relationship with the truth. Shes out to make a buck here. She will do whatever she has to do. Donald trumps organization will sue her back. But i think that the thing that has always united them is this sense of false flattery that they did for each other. I mean he would flatter omarosa falsely. She would flatter him falsely. And they both loved it. So theyre two peas in a pod here. The fight theyre having, all i can say is they deserve each other. Let them you know let them go at it. But understand that neither one of them has, is a hero here, has any kind of that clean slate when it comes to this. Brooke, can i quickly Say Something . Its easy for to us get fixated on omarosas credibility and trumps credibility. Neither of them have a great credibility the larger issue here is not about amro sachlt its the fact that we have a really big race problem in this white house and yes its a gas lighting white house, but i feel we are gas lighting ourselves. The most recent quinnipiac poll from july said that 49 of americans think crump u trump is racist. 47 of americans think he isnt. I want to know, whats wrong with us . Why are we still debating this issue . The article i wrote for cnn front page right now was all about this. Why are we still questioning, is donald trump racist . Is donald trump sexist . Yes, hes both. And this is one more example of his racism. So what do we do about it . What do we do about it . Look. Its less than 90 days until the midterms. Thats the first obvious spot people can step up. Look, people need to ask themselves first and foremost, what do you believe . What do you stand for . What donald trump is going to do, what hissed a minlstration will do is out of our hands. What we do, though, extremely important, how we talk to one another, what groups we choose to joan, whether its social media, letter to the editor, your local civic groups, of course, at the ballot box. Its tremendous importance. People have to figure out where they stand and stand there. Thats the most important part, not to be swayed. Sort of talked into it. There will be a lot of scare tactics, advertising what in nancy pelosi, what if hillary clinton, what about this or that, the Supreme Court, so forth. These issues dont go to that. This is what you believe, who are you, what values you hold, presumably if you hold those values, you hold them regardless of who the president is or whose party is in charge. I think thats the starting point for putting toke something thats going to sustain us through some really awful weeks that lie ahead of us between now and the election. If anything, people feel more firm in their beliefs, whichever side of it that they are. Lee, i want the give you the last word. Sure. So i agree with what the panelists have said, only ra sa of late has been omarosa have been making serious allegations, that say things pointing out Donald Trumps racism or sexism. Instead, make figure argument she has evidence of rampant corruption and she has talked to the authorities and is willing to turn over information that she has. I think the reason is its because one there are plenty of laws that limit the sharing of classified information to the standpoint you have access to that as an employee. Two, i physical its against public policy. That is one of the ways that we make sure our government is accountable is through transparency. There are a lot of laws, statutes and regulations that govern transparency, including the freedom of information act. Which is how we as americans find out whats happening with our government. I certainly havent seen it. Mark you compared both. You tell me what you found. Well, there are with respect to as you said classified information. We all sign secrecy nondisclosure agreements in that context the court versus made it incredibly clear there is no legitimate constitutional interest in the u. S. Government prohibiting publication of information of anywith under that one any one that used to work with the government thats unclassified. What i have seen from the white house. There seems to have been a number of versions for sure. Is the Trump Corporation took its nondisclosure agreement and tried to force it into a government context and it simply wont work in that context. No way, shape or form. It found credible el gagss exist of more than 300 priests and that more than 1,000 child victims were identifiable. What is worse because of lost records or fear of coming forward, it is likely the true number of victims is deep into the thousands. So jean casa rres is working th for us. Within the office of attorney general and the grand jurors, officials are saying that the report is the largest, most comprehensive document into child sexual abuse in the Catholic Church produced in the United States, took two years, it was written by 23 pennsylvania grand jurors who listened to dozens of witness testimonies. And witnesses and studied documents about alleged child sex abuse in six dioces. The report states that the testimony of dozens of witnesses and half a million pages of internal documents subpoenaed. It also state that is there were credible allegations found at least over 300 priests, over 1,000 child victims identifiable and believed that the true numbers are in the thousands. The report states most of the victims were boys but girls were also victims. Some were teens, some were younger, some were manipulated with alcohol or pornography. They were raped in various forms and fashions. And grand jurors found Church Leaders in every part of the state protected the abusers and institution above Everything Else they say because the coverup was most important of all. These petitioners and for a time some of the diocese sought to prevent the entire report from ever seeing the light of day. In effect, they wanted to cover up the coverup. They sought to do the same thing that senior Church Leaders in the diocese we investigated have done for decades. Bury the sexual abuse of priests upon children and cover it up forever. The report states that because of the coverup, almost all of the abuse is too old to be prosecuted. But the grand jury has issued presentments against two priests who allegedly assaulted children in the statute of limitations and might be many more indictments in the future because, brooke, the investigation continues. One more thing, the attorney general said, you know, theres so many redactions in this report. We dont like that. We want everything to be public so theyre working legally to try to make that happen.
