In fact those two leaders, Chuck Grassley and dianifeinstein had reached out to the special Councils Office to make sure if they heard testimony from Paul Manafort, make sure it was not complicate with whatever he was doing as part of his own investigation and any collusion that may have occurred. Now, in a statement from the spokesman for Chuck Grassley, the statement says that bob muellers office has not responded to the questions raised by the Committee Leaders about whether or not it would conflict in any way by having Paul Manafort before the committees. As a result, pam, theyre considering delaying a hearing that would be on a separate topic about the issue of the foreign agents registration act, which of course is a statute that requires disclosure of that, Paul Manafort worked for the Ukrainian Government, of course. And theyre considering delays to see if Paul Manafort could testify, but also of interest is donald trump junior, Chuck Grassley confirming to suzanne malveaux, he may even is that for the appearance if he doesnt great to appear voluntarily. That would certainly by a dramatic development. Manu, thank you very much. A new theme week in washington at any moment s. President trump will kick off his made in america week, highlighting companies, now the event will feature companies from all 50 states, but critics point out a bit of irony here. The Trump Corporation relies heavily on a dozen other countries to produce its product the caitlyn, this begs the question, will made in america week prompt the Trump Organization, to make mower of the products in the United States . Thats a great question. The white house was asked that yesterday when they first debuted the next three weeks that will center around made in america, america heroes, and america dreams. If this should asked if thats a commit mint to start making their products here in the United States, which is what theyre asking other businesses to do, they were noncommittal. They said well get back to that on that. When shawn micer was just asked about that, he couldnt comment on business matters, but the president was a businessman who understood the challenges of being in business in america. So we didnt werent we do know that ivanka trump will not attend the event where theres a fire truck, a yacht, marine one and other products from the 50 states that are made in america, and the other staterooms of the white house. The irony is not lost on the president s critics. And its we are not sure if the white house will start if they will answer whether or not they will start making their products here. You have some reporting as well about the president meeting with senators tonight, right . Yes. As the theyre trying to distract from the russian narrative and the Big Health Care debate, which we know has been delay the he has traveled advocating for the health care bill, and will hope to woo some tonight here. He has kept hi distance. Caitlyn collins, thank you. Thank you. Another setdayold back for the republican plan to replace obamacare, a potential vote already in jeopardy has been delayed. This as Mitch Mcconnell scrambles to get he cant afford one more vote. Two of them have baulked at the current gop bill, saying flatout no, and collins tells cnn that several of her colleagues remain concerned about the bill. There are about eight to ten republican senators who have serious concerns about this bill, so at the end of the day, i dont know whether well pass it it is vote could hinge on how many time but there are in concerns about mr. Who can contains condition is more serious than previously thought. Dr. Sanjay gupta joins me now. The big question everyone is asking, sanjay, is how long could mccain spend recovering here. What could you tell us . It could be a bit of time. I think the initial reports were that he had this blood clot above his eye, and it was removed on friday, but to be clear, what he had drone was a bit more aggressive than that. Let me show you what im talking about. The incision was in hi eyebrow, to sort of high the incision, but you have bone there, what i think people didnt realize is that bone was actually removed as well to try and get access inside the skull to the brain. So reading those initial drips thats what people may have thought, so its definitely more aggressive. Its a brain operation with general anesthesia, hes 80 years old, as far as how long it takes to recover, people recover at different rates. Hes 80, but hes toughed, we know that. Hes had a history of various medical problems. We dont know how this ties in exactly. We know hes up and about, but just the swelling, the pain, the recoveries, typically a couple weeks. Thanks so much, sanjay. We want to go to sean spicer, back at the podium for a without briefs offcamera. Lets listen. Good to see you back. Will this the jcpoa authority was del indicated to the state department, and is the secretary of state will have an if announcement very i think you know the president has made very clear he thought it was a bad deal for the United States. Secondly your counterpart in russia, who speaks for Vladimir Putin set today they expect their properties that were seized by the Prior Administration to be returned and without any stipulations or attachments to that. Does the president have a strong view . What is it that the president would like to see returned . I know that secretary tillerson, that falls under his purview. I would refer you to the state department. This came from Vladimir Putins office. I understand that, but in our country, the secretary of state is handling that. Did the president bring that up at all in his conversation . I dont know. I would be glad to find out. I would be glad to find out. The president tweeted earlier today that most politicians would have gone into the meeting like the one done junior aheaded to get into as fbi director nominee said that anyone who was approached by a hostile government for Opposition Research should contact the fbi rather than taking the meeting. Who is right . And what is the White House Position on whether its okay to meet with look, you know im not going to get into the specifics, but i will say that its quite obvious for people who are given information to ask what that is there was nothing that would lead anyone to believe there was anything except for a decision about adoption of the majinski act, but i would refer you back to counsel for that. Reporter reportedly hes exchange the emails with a private citizen with a number of threats and profanitylaced comments. Does on this russian matter . Yes, he does, and i know mr. Kasowitz has issued an apology in that matter. First, the president s tweet this morning regards, did you talk a bit about his role, is hi job here to manage the. As you know, there are various attorneys with different portfolios, and while we have outside counsel, a lot of requests required us to go to counsel and say what can we say or cant we say . You do your best a lot of times to get us to make a case why this should be answered by the white house, so we end up spenting a lot of time talking to the counsels office, what still remains in our purview, so it was the decision of the white house to bring someone on board that like in a lot of other areas that we have counsel dedicated for that, that there was Significant Interest in the subject to do that. You mentioned the on is the that would be who paid for that to fly here from quantico . And is it appropriate to use military resources for a well, it would be at boeing where i believe thats held, but i think were very proud the idea is to showcase things made in america, i know sikorsky and the state of connecticut are very proud they contribute to our national security. Hundreds, if not thousands of people and i think like most americans, were all proud of the helicopter so its appropriate to highlight that. Hunter . Reporter thank you, sean, im wonder if you can tell us if the week will liquidity the donald trump or ivanka trump brands to im sorry, if the as part of made in america week if the Trump Organization or ivanka trumps brands will make any kind of commitment to stop manufacturing gifts, clothes and other wares abroad. Theres a couple things that are interesting about that question, first i think whats important is the president s agenda, reg la court and tax relief are focused on trying to make sure that all companies can hire here, manufacture here, thats something he wants for every companies obviously its inappropriate to discuss how anything would affect their own companies, but i can tell you in some cases there are certain supply changes or scalable that might not be available. Im not going to comment on specific products, but i will tell you the overall arching goal is to, and to grow u. S. Workers here. So that remains the overall objective. Obviously it might be a sacrifice given certainly questioning about going rates, but wouldnt it be a way to show leadership . Again, its not appropriate for me to stand up here and comment about a business. I believe thats a little out of bounds, but the broader goal to create investment here, bring back the manufacturing base, and when you look at a lot of these indices that measure confidence, both in terms of ceo, manufacturers, theyre alltime highs. I think part of that is a lot of confidence that the president s agenda is going to and the question about the 50,000 new temporary worker visas, how does that a again, ill refer you to dhv on this, but one of the things youre seeing through this, its not just a number, but a lieutenant of the qualifications, and a lot that you go through there do ensure we are hiring and bringing in the people. Which seeks to look at more of a meritbased system, and he continues to push for and continuing to to help get that in a place that will focus more on meritbased and really provide of overall reform that hes been talking about. Dave . Reporter thanks, sean. Whats the reaction to iran announcing that they had sentenced the chineseamerican student from princeton to ten years for espionage . And also could you fill us in on any new sanctions on iran . Im not going to comment on any new sanctions. If there are something, treasury would be the one to make that announce metropolitan. Obviously were disappointed in that, and with respect to that individual. He is one were keeping an eye on. Reporter the president told reporters on the plane last week he was considering tariffs and quotas with regard to foreign steel. This being made in america week, can we expect an announcement, on whether the president has made of his mind on what to do . I think the comments speak for himself. When hes ready to make an announcement, well share that, but thats something the team is city discussing. Shawn decker . Reporter is he resigned to the idea that it seems unlikely the senate will vote on any repealandreplace bill . I know senator mcconnell has made it clear he would like senator mccain back. We wish him a speedy recovery, and as soon as senator mccain can travel backs and when northerly manage connell is confidence to schedule the vote, we look forward to getting it signed. I just wanted to ask a real quick question, as you want you could speak about the President Donald Trump j. Trump organization companies, but i just wanted a view from you on what critics are saying about whether the president is the right vessel for this message. After all, he has shirts made in china, and bangladesh, and india. Other products made like trump vodka made in the netherlands, so give me a sense, if you cant, about whether the president is the right vessel for the message that hes going to deliver later today, before the press . I actually look at it in a very different way. The president has a very successful businessman in a number of fronts and areas of industry, and to understand firsthand what the tax burden and the Regulatory Burden do to a business that wants to grow or expand here or hire here. So i think he actually is in a unique way understands the challenges that our tax system put on businesses that want to hire here, want to grow here, that need scaleability and capacity here that maybe in a way isnt because of our arcane trade laws or regulations or tax laws. I think he is in a unique way able to talk about the challenges that so many of these companies face, as they choose to expanse and some of the tariffs and quotas that they face in other markets. I know that some of the stuff you look at like a company like caterpillar, and some of the tariffs they face going into the countries, if youre talking about an earthmover, a d11, youre talking about a millionplus dollar piece of equipment, a 20political tariff is if youre going into a country where our companies are disadvantaged by a huge tariff, thats immediately putting them at a disadvantage. The president understands what that means to a company that wants to grow and up and down throughout the globe and immediate new markets and go into other places. I think he understands it very, very uniquely. Fred . Reporter thanks, sean. Well get to you, andrew, dont worry. Reporter a couple questions on the Voter Integrity Commission meeting on wednesday. Without full cooperation of all the states, would the Commission Consider buying some of the registration information, sort of the way campaigns doing, or using a private organization maybe . Most of this information is available i mean all those companies are doing is buying it from the states. I dont think there would be any reason to go to a private vendor, i think we should be able to do this utilizing official resources that exist. Again, i think theres been a miscommunication on what theyre seeking the commission has asked provide the information that is public that they share. Because that varies from state to state what theyre willing to give out, the commission was illustrative in its letter in describing what it was looking for. I think we will move forward very well. Reporter there was hacking of Voter Registration in illinois, arizona, and recently South Carolina was reported. System something the commission will be looking into . I think the commission has a very broad mandate to ensure theres the greatest degree of beity in our voting system. I dont want to get ahead of their agenda, but i think all areas like that will probably get brought up, but well see what comes of it in the first meeting. So obvious ly. Theres a shared interest that we have with israel in making sure that iran does not game a foothold in southern syria. So while, you know, were going to continue those talks, obviously well a productive ceasefire, but we also want to make sure that one of our other octaves remains to make sure that iran does not gain a foothold a i think there a shared goal there. Whats the administrations plan to move forward. Can you do it without having moved on Health Care First . Obviously the senate is on a track, which is great, and were going to continue to plaid, well into the hundreds, listening po sessions with different entities, so they will continue that if outreach. And were going to continue that, but were going to keep moving that along. I expect some activity in august, and then into september, but were still on track to do that, and we hope to have the health carably completely locked up. There is concern that this if extension is going to gift the opponent of the bill more traction. What specifically is the president going to try to do . Hes been very active on the phone. I think hell have some senators over type. Tonight. The Vice President has extremely engaged as well. I think were going to do what we did the last time. Hes going to get this done, and theres no one better than Mitch Mcconnell when it comes to knowing how and when to make a bill successful. We have every confidence in the majority leaderss ability to get this done, and the president will do whatever he has to reporter who is coming over tonight . I dont have a list for you. Reporter one quickly on russia President Trump haz referred to the investigation as a hoax, a witchhunt. Given the meeting that donald trump jr. Had is i think theyll answer that very extensively this weekend. I think its been asked and answered. Can you tell me how these were and if most of the i think youre free to ask him. I think there are some folks out there. Feel freed to talk to them. We asked to give us a list, and then working within the different offices here, an ultimate selection was made, but we saw input from the governors and congressional delegation. Abby . Reporter since friday the president has tweeted four times about but also six times about the u. S. Which was held at a private property that is owned by his company. So the question is, is it appropriate for him to essentially advertise his private business using his twitter feed and his time when comparatively less time is being spent on health care, an issue, as you know, is the most important issue to americans right no. I respectfully disagree with that. Sending off a tweet takes five, ten seconds. Hesing extremity le engaged meeting with his team getting updates. So to compare a tweet with a meeting or phone calls of substance is probably a little the tweets are programs a sect on, but it seems to excite what the president is spending time on. How do you enissue the country hi is in fact engaged in health care . I would suggest, one, i just told you hes been extremitily engaged. I know some of them have mentioned they extension i was discussions. Number two, we have a lot ofs we continue to work hard, continue to be engaged, we continue to do what we have to do, and well make it work. I think when you look at the am of activity hes been ability to do, that speak foss itself. Ivanka trump, the head of the business said that it is countrily not possible to make her products here in the United States, so what is the to say theres just no way to do it. I mean, i cant answer that question, but i can tell you it depends on the product, right . Theres several instruments that we and certainly thing we do more, theres a certainty aspect, theres certain things that we may not have the capacity to do in terms of a plant or factory that can do it. The beautiful thing about a Capitalistic Society is if theres enough of a demand for it, it would happen. I think thats what you president is trying to do. Sudden will hopefully grow businesses and manufacturing. Ive talk to several ceos and Business Leaders about tack reform. Its amaze what will you do if that rate drops . And the number one thing they talk about is invest and build more in their company. But some lines, some industries, some products may motte have the scaleability or demand in this country. If that demand is forbes if theres enough of a demand, homefully someone builds a factor and does it. You saw the design of newspapers, for example, and more i dont think line content, thats the elf lice sometimes, but im sure somewhere around the World Newspapers gets delivered every day in a much greater want that i they do here. If theres no it capacity, is it probably to make those things overseas . We depend on so many goods and services moor things are exported from here. I got to go to the birthday girl, sarah. Thanks. Its not my birthday, though. No, its kalas birthday, shes not here, i saw eamon and thought nbc reporter i dont want to get ahead of the announce metropolitan, but the then reviewing it even though the. Has almost mate definitive statements. Did he make those statements without or is the review ongoing, because hes opening to changing the position . Initially he recertified it, because he had the luxury of an entire team here both from dod and nsc to review it. That time is up and the state will make its announcement very shortly. Andrew . When you president took ops. One of the things he ordered was a 90day cybersecurity interview, can you update us on where that report is . Has it been completed and if it hasnt, why . He does reporter similar question. Last week there was a large online day and participated by many of the Largest Companies in america. Amazon. Apple, facebook. A lot of the economy thats granted the fcc is an independent agency. Does the president believe that net newell reality is important and an open internet is important to the economy . I would refer you to the agency, oughts indicated theyre independent. Reporter can you get back to it . I definitely will. Reporter in damage control mode when President Trump made the Election Administration Officials Union mining the cage. Is this an issue that was discussed during president poroshenkos visit . Actually thats an interesting question. Obviously theres been more interest in recent days with respect to what the dnc did in coordination with the Ukrainian Government to try to collude. I know the collusion has definitely gotten a lot more attention, so im not sure it was necessarily topical at the time, but now though theres been renewed interest, im glad to look further. Did it have any it wasnt i would be my only point is at the time of the visit, i dont think it was as topical as it is now. Now we have a report of a transcript you have a conversation in which he asked her to quote will unquote fix his popularity so he gets a better reception. Do you have any reason to doubt the accuracy of that transcript, that that conversation took place . I believe that im not going to comment on leaked, rumored leaked conversations, i will say he was pleased to accept her majestys invitation and looks forward to visiting the united kingdom. Reporter whats the president s view of that and there are certain conditions i would referred you pack to the republic of korea, but that being said the president has clear in the past with respect that any type of conditions that would have to be met are clearly far away from where we are now. Has the white house been monitoring the demonstrations . Ven wail art . We obviously are concerned about that. Weve been watching whats going on. We congratulate the venezuelan people for the huge turnout in the referendum and the unmistakable statement that they made and delivered to their government. We condemn the violence inflicted by government thugs we one against call to the constituent assembly of july 30th to be canceled and for free and Fair Elections to be scheduled. Reporter on iran, a Senior Commander in irans revolutionary guard set ed today that the United States deciding naileded the group as a terrori Terroristic Organization and it would be perilous to our forces i dont think our forces will ever be what was the word . I think our forces are the greatest fighting machine in the world, and well do everything we can to protect our country and make sure we extinguish any threats we face. Thank you, guys. Hope to have you get a good look at whats going on outside. Reporter will you release the senators names later . Ive been listening to sean spicer. A lot to unpack here. Lets start with you, break it down for us. What does spicer say about donald trump jr. s meeting. Spicer saying theres nothing we know of that would lead none to believe it was not about adoption policy. You all recall eight days ago the initial statement from donald trump jr. About the june 2016 meeting with the russian lawyer is it was primarily about adoption policy. Since then theres been many revisions, and more important what was said in the emails so spiters seems to be the president says this meeting was its what the emails also showed, but also twisting that it doesnt have anything to do with anything but adoption polici policies. Right. I mean, chris, asigh from contradicting the president , spicers comment is just flatout inaccurate. They want eventually who in had incriminating information that had been as part of russias efforts to his father, win the election. Theres just no way in addition to, as brian rightly points out contradicting what the said this morning, the emails that his son sent add received directly contradict this story. Forgetting the whole rest of the week in which it became clear it wasnt just about adoptions. Et the second or third statement, there was a couple followones. He was specific about what the, quote unquote incriminating details were. He said in the statement it had to do with russia funneling money for democrats, so clearly something was discussed beyond what was in the email chain. I think spicer is trying to argue, hey, weapon went to the meeting, we didnt get the dirt, all we talked about was adoptions. I think thats what hes suggesting here. We still dont know everybody who was in the room, and a lot more, we dont know if there were meetings after that. Theres been denials about that, but the credibility of the white house just sinking lower and lower when you have spicer making thinks kind of strange statements. S. E. Cupp, your reaction . Lets not forget in addition to all the statements and the emails in an interview don junior said it ended up a waste of 20 minutes. What would have made it worth his time . Well, actually getting that incriminating information, so there again you have don junior admitting the point, the hope was to walk out with getting that incriminating information, he didnt get it, so it was a waste of his time. We dont have to carry the charade on anymore. Its out there. The white house clearly wants to put a stop to this narrative, but coming out and denying something we all know to be true will only make it continue. Danielle bryant, this comes off the president defended his son again today as weve gone talking about, says its politics, does this surprise you . He isnt certainly the, of course it has a security clearance and a member of this meeting not reporting the fact that he was there. That is a significant issue that i think is much more important than donald junior having been there. Chris cillizza, is it politics . What it is really is trying to spin an unspinable situation and creating an alternativefact reality. Theres not a debate that in the email exchange that donald trump junir. Released. Even if you it is very clear that unless he didnt read the emails, which his responses suggest he did. He knew the nature of this meeting and thats why he was going. To ses pont he was disappointed there wasnt more there. Remember, well use it later in the summer if what you wind of saying it was true. So the idea that he thought he was going to a meeting of primarily or only about adoptions, its just not the case. In fact, yes, the conversation became that, but the reason the meeting took place was because the goldstone promised there was something out there. It is over and over we see this with a trump administration. I think we all are trying to document it. Theyre saying things that are provably false. On the one hand we think this, and on the one hand they say that or a difference 6 pin. Theres no difference 6 opinion form the fact is donald trump jr. Exchanged these emails. That shouldnt be a debate. Unfortunately somehow it is. One of the things you saw spice are spenting time sorb this trying to shift the fog cuss over there. This was also i think at the end, what this comes down as to is a lot of these matters are just not good enough to capture read foreign attempt by the existing rules and look. And the nominee said if you good this could, report if. If they think its politics as usual, the president ran on an antipolitics platform. It seems like he has a lot of swamp grunge on him. Now hes saying its just politics. That came through also in the made in america week. All the questions about ivanka trumps products and other products made overseas, we heard from deplex shuns from spicer saying it was inprotect, which i did i experts say it is inappropriate. However, the key question was is it appropriate for the president to essentially advertise his private businesses using his twitter feed. The president frequently does that talking about what golf club or resort hes at. We didnt get an answer from spicer about that. Its an uncomfortable question for this without during made in america week. And well have a robust discusses about that later in the show. S. E. , i want to bring you in on health care. Trump is hosting some senators tonight. What do you expect . Hard to say what to expect. Its a little ninth hour, and theres, you know, consideration big picture republicans should have been working on this for the last eight years, little picture were into 100plus days and theres not a lot of consensus among republicans in the house and senate on what this thing should look like. I think its always good when a president reach us out to either of these two bodies, president obama was rightly criticized for not doing that enough. The problem is i dont now how involved trump has been with the policy. Its clear at least sean spicer believes the president has very involved in the politics and on the phone, but if the president s fingerprints are not on the actual policy, its going to be very difficult for him to move certain senators very interested in the policy, because thats what their constituents are telling them about back home. Its going to be a tight rope for him. Im not sure theres quite enough time for him to make these hard sells when the policies are so specific and complex. And chris, republicans are delaying this vote, does this extra time help Mitch Mcconnell, hurt Mitch Mcconnell. Whats your view on this . Let me say neutral to bad. I dont see a way that it helps, because the reality, pam is that i think there are some republicans hoping that whatever version the version that the Senate Republicans have sent which we expect maybe tomorrow, we thought today, maybe tomorrow, is going to miraculously show that it actually more people are insured, and it cuts the deficit by more. I think its different to be radically different from the first scored cbo report. Theres nothing new thats going to build momentum. I just think the longer it is out there, the clearer it is, every story that you see from a 4r08 newspaper suggests that this is not a popular bill and it is a bill that a lot of people out in the country have significant doubts about. Lets asset donald trump is the great persuader. I think its not popular in alaska, in main, in ohio with a lot of these senators who will need to be for it. I dont think his personal persuasiveness its not clear to me hes not really selling the policy. Hes not terribly engaged in the policy. Thank you so much, everybody. Really interesting discussion, and the other bed headline from that briefing, the without defenses made in america week, despite the president s history in business, he is expected to speak any moment. In the meantime, we want david faronholt. Also drew heaarwell, who wrote article about ivanka trumps use of foreign factories for her clothing line. Welcome to you both. Drew, i was reading your article. Your reaction from what you heard from sean spicer about having made in america week when so few products from the president s companies and really new england from ivankas Company Comes from the u. S. Sean makes the point that is against and the argument that the white house is saying in some case the machinery isnt here the Skilled Labor is not here. Maybe the demand is not here. Yes, thats the reason why the reality is more complicated. So david, what do you make of this, the fact that the white house is hosting this theme week of made in america people will hear the party, and see President Trump in a fire truck talking about the companies that do make things in mer, and not Pay Attention that the president daughters own company are examples of why this is so complicated. Were just lazy, stupid, we make bad deals, thats why we dont make things in america. Obviously im glad this is getting some attention. This shows how hard this is, and saying okay, make it in america. Drew, tell us more about this reporting. Do any products from this company come from the u. S. . Has the none of them, none of the clothes or shoes or handbags are made in the u. S. They have never been made in the u. S. We tracked them back to five Different Countries across asia, including india, china, indonesia, bangladesh and vietnam. Where labor rights are much more limited, and the company was not really that forthcoming with where the factories are, or even where the countries are that theyre getting them from. We had to trace them back. Not a ton of transparency with the company. Just for context, is that unusual, not to be transparent about the countries where products are made . It is pretty unusual. Theres been an increasing sort of push over the last couple decades ever since the nike sweatshop scandal and Kathie Lee Gifford scandal, about lets share where these goods are made, so customers know this isnt exploited labor. Yet the Ivanka Trump Company is so different from that, that they are not sharing where the factories are. They say they have a very strong code of conduct, but dont really say what theyre holding factories too. Theres not a ton we can know, and the company is not really sharing a lot on how theyre treating their workers. And in the defense from the company is that the reason it hasnt, you know, made some changes up until now is because it was newer, it was smaller, and it would be very different to have products in the u. S. Prices would skyrocket and so bigot further further, what would happen . I mean, what would the reality by . If you cant boil it down for us. If they could get the kind of skills, their goods would cost more, and might be people would be willing to pay that, maybe quality differences, but certainly it would cost a lot more. Thats why they dont do it. In a marketplace of cheap clothing, their would stand out as highly priced. I think to were just looking at President Trump there getting ready to make a speech on made in america. I just wanted to ask you, drew, some againsts from ivanka trumps company is its a newer and smaller company. How does it stack up . How does it compare to other newer and Smaller Companies when it comes to production in the United States . Yeah, the defense falls flat because there are lots of Younger Companies and Smaller Companies who have made the choice to be more open about where their factories are, share a little bit more about where their goods are coming from, and theres lots of companies that are bigger and maybe more established that do lots of things that, you know, customers and labor unions appreciate. They appreciate knowing that their goods are being made in the right way. So, you know, its not exactly something that stands up to question. There are choices that the Ivanka Trump Company has made in the past that, you know, sort of allowed this lack of transparency to happen, and the company says theyre making some improvements now, that theyre going to hire a consultant to sort of tell them what would be the better way to act in business, but the company has been going on for a couple of years, and meanwhile, ivanka has sort of grown her own profile, so you have to wonder, why were these steps not taken before. I want to bring in my colleague christina lesche. Christina, im told you have some new reporting. It looks like instead were going to watch Vice President mike pence. Im looking for direction but it looks like well listen and hear. And thanks nfor the leadershp in a president that believes in American Manufacturing. Welcome to made in america here in our nations capitol. You know, its the greatest privilege in my life to serve as Vice President to a president that always puts America First and puts American Manufacturing first. Our president knows that america is a nation of dreamers and dor doers and makers, and since the moment of this administration, weve taken Decisive Action to promote and protect what he calls those three beautiful words, made in america. In fact, this president assigned more laws slashing through federal red tape than any president in american history. Under President Trumps leadership, weve been fighting for trade thats both free and fair so that american businesses and American Workers can compete and win with companies anywhere in the world. In fact, as we were just talking down the hallway, just last month, thanks to the president s leadership, american beef is now being shipped to china for the first time in 13 years. Weve been unleashing americanmade energy, rolling back the clean power plant, approving the keystone and dakota pipelines. And when he did so, President Trump took executive action to make sure new pipelines in america would be built by American Workers using american steel. [ applause [ applause ] thanks to the president s leadership, american manufacturers havent been this optimistic in more than two decades. And the confidence of American Farmers is soaring to near record levels. Well continue to fight every single day to ensure our country continues to make the best machines, grow the best food and design the best technology in the world. Because President Donald Trump knows that made in america will make America Great again. So with gratitude for his leadership and admiration for his unwavering confidence in the boundless capacity of the american people, it is now my high honor and distinct privilege to introduce to all of you the 45th president of the United States of america, President Donald Trump. [ applause ] thank you, mike. And, you know, mike, it is true that as i walk through the halls, we saw so many great companies. But the gentleman who was in charge of omaha beef, they do beef, he hugged me. He wanted to kiss me so badly. Because he said our business is a whole different business now because youve got china proved. The other administrations couldnt even come close. And i told him, you know how long it took . One sentence. I said, president xi, wed love to sell beef back in china again. He said, you can do that. That was the end of that. Right . Sonny, the great sonny purdue. So were very happy. But were here to celebrate American Manufacturing and showcase all the products of the 50 states made in the usa. Made in america, but made in the usa. Were going to start doing that again. Were going to put that brand on our product because it meets us the best. In just a few hoemmoments i wily what weve done over a short period of time and what were going to be doing over the next six months will be incredible. Weve signed more bills, and im talking about through the legislature, than any president ever. For a while harry truman had us, and now i think we have everybody, mike. I better say think, otherwise theyll give you a pinocchio and i dont like pinocchios. In just a few moments, ill be signing a president ial probable cause cla ma proclamation wee make today made in america day. Every member of my administration shares the same goal, to provide a level Playing Field for American Workers and for american industry. [ applause ] and we are providing it much faster than other countries would like. So its been real but what if, one day, there was a white flower for alzheimers first survivor . What if there were millions of them . Maybe most importantly of all, they stay right here in the usa. In the audience today we have skilled workers, we have Business Leaders whose americanmade goods were proudly displaying all over the white house and outside. I saw fire engines, i saw tractors from caterpillar, i saw some incredible machinery. We make it right here. We thank you for being here. Were honored to showcase your creations, and i will say theyve really taken on and some of you have built names that i know of for so long, and congratulations, right . You in particular. What a great job youve done. Thank you very much, and i saw you on television this morning. You are fantastic. I dont know what youre doing exactly, but you could always have a second career. You did a great job. Thank you very much. American boworkers, farmers and innovators are really the best in the world, we know that. And what were doing is displaying those talents. You construct and harvest the products that fill our homes, feed our families and defend our nation and enrich our lives. I want to make a pledge to each and every one of you. No longer are we going to allow other countries to break the rules, steal our jobs and drain our wealth, and it has been drained. It has been drained. [ applause ] youre going to see a lot of things happening over the next six months statutorily and through the legal process. It takes a while to get it set so youre allowed to do it. Youre not allowed to do it, but weve now mostly fulfilled all of that, and over the next short period of time youll see things announced that you wont even believe for our country and for selling product in our country and making product in our country, and things that are great for american jobs. Youre going to be seeing that happening really quickly, because we are totally set up. And the hard part now is done. It is a long, horrible process, but were also going to get rid of some of that process for the future. But were going to stand up for our companies and maybe, most importantly, for our workers. For decades washington has allowed other nations to wipe out millions of american jobs through unfair trade practices. Wait till you see whats up for you. You are going to be so happy. This painful exodus of american jobs, and ive been talking about it for years, was also marked by a period of sluggish growth, falling incomes, surging welfare and shrinking participation in the work force. Clearly its time for a new policy, one defined by two simple rules. We will buy american and we will hire american, right, governor . [ applause ] my administration is removing the burdens and regulations on your part so you can compete, thrive and row. How many of you have noticed this so far, because its a big, big difference, right . Thats a big, big difference. People are coming up to me, they cant even believe it. We took the farmers land away, we took the homebuilders land away. They have their land back now, and theyre building homes and farming their farms. Its a beautiful thing to see and theyre so thankful. So a lot of those regulations have been coming off. The rest are coming off. By the way, we will have better protection than weve ever had but well also have something where you dont have to wait 15 years for a permit and then when gu you go to the board, you lose. Thats a big part of your life wiped out waiting for a permit. But we must lower the tax on business. One of the highest in the world, and we must repeal jobkilling
