Launching attacks in germany. So now as we said. The hunt is on not just for him but for anyone with who may have helped him slip away. For the latest on this bruise, evan perez is the go to guy, our justice correspondent in washington. When we say this guy was known to u. S. Intelligence before the attack, what does that mean . Brook, it means they put him on a nofly list. This is information the u. S. Intelligence agency had been able to gather before this attack. It appears there was a lot of concern in germany as well that he was part of a group that was communicating with members of isis in syria. These are people in syria who are known to have been plotting and directing attacks outside of syria and as you know, brooke, this has been a big problem that weve seen, the europeans have seen in the last couple of years with attacks in paris and elsewhere that have been directed from syria were told by sources weve talked to that some of that capability remains. We keep hearing isis is under pressure in iraq and syria. What we dont hear often about is however the capabilities to direct attacks. Apparently that capability is still very much alive. Weve seen a number of arrests in germany as well. In the balkans in recent months and this is why this guy was on the radar of the german intelligence agencies as well as with the u. S. Intelligence. Evan, with that piece thank you so much. Also were learning the suspects brother who stayed . Touch with amri speaking out saying they were shocked by whats happened. Translator no human being wishes for Something Like this to happen. Anis never told us about his life or who he was as a person. When he left tunisia he was a normal person. He drank alcohol and didnt even pray. He had no religious beliefs. My dad, my brother and i all used to pray and he didnt. Maybe he got into this when he was in prison where he met algerians, egyptians, and syrians. He doesnt represent us or our family. If he is watching now, i just want to say may god guide you for putting us in this situation. Your father and mother are crying, people have left their jobs to come and see us. You have caused so much chaos. What can i say . Lets go to Erin Mclaughlin on the story for us again today in berlin. Erin we know that the police found prints of this main suspect on the door of that truck. What more do authorities have other than fingerprint ss . Reporter well, brooke, in addition to the fingerprints tying the suspect to the truck itself, inside the cabin, they found his identification papers, the first tipoff he was the person they should be looking for. In terms of that manhunt, they are casting a wide net. Police are on the lookout across europe. Earlier today there were police raids at a port in denmark based on what turned out to be false sightings. Most of the police raids today, though, concentrated in germany, here in berlin as well as the cologne area. We understand from the prosecutor they raided a bus based on a tipoff in the j. So far, no key arrests as far as we know have been made. Meanwhile, in berlin, a sign of resilience just behind me, book, the Christmas Market has reopened. That was the scene of the attack. The kiosks are open selling spiced spine, small gift shops adds well although its really a somber mood there. Shoppers are taking time to pause and reflect at makeshift memorials located throughout the market. Theyre lighting candles, huddling together, some shedding tears, one customer telling me shes there because she believes in hope. Theres also an increased security presence as you would imagine inside the market itself, lots of police officers. Theyve installed barricades surrounding the market to make is sure this kind of attack doesnt happen again because as we know this manhunt very much under way, brooke. Erin, thank you in berlin. Lets bring in juliette kayyem, Cnn National Security analyst and former u. S. Assistant secretary for Homeland Security and bob baer, cnn intelligence and security analyst and a former cia operative. Great to have both of you on. Juliette, off of evans reporting, that was the first were hearing. I realize there are a lot of bad actors out there but if this guy was known to u. S. Intelligence before the attack, was on a nofly list with other members of a group tied to isis, how were intel agencies not watching him around the clock . We dont know and thats the second part of this investigation. Was is the terrorist attack. The other is how did someone who was so well known, was he able to do this . I should say, though, in germanys defense this does not take a lot of planning. He didnt have to build anything or buy anything. But to make clear to your viewers about the nofly list. This is a serious list. The list that people hear about, thats over a million names that gets whittled down to the nofly list. Only a couple us that names so the fact that he was so elevated on our end at least gives us evidence that we were getting intelligence from the germans that he should never step foot on american soil. Knowing there has been intelligence and flag, talk me through Data Collection for someone. I realize heigindsight is 2020 were there details they could have used to find him . Clearly he should have been expel from germany, brooke. With his background, burning a Refugee Center in italy, the tunisians knew something about him as well, ending up on a nofly list is serious. The problems is the germans are overwhelmed. They have too many people there nay cant keep track of. They can not put surveillance on these people and as yule yet said, it didnt take planning, he didnt need to go to the hardware store. But if you take a million refugees in and you cannot keep track of them, theres always going to be a couple that will turn to violence. This is going to hurt murk l. Another attack like this and shes finished politically. Thats a whole other conversation on the politics of this and her future but on this manhunt, bob, just knowing what we know. Do you think this is the sort of act, the truck who knows, the dead polish man in the back of the truck shot and killed. Getting away. Could this have been handled by one person . It could have been. I think probably right at this point hes being harbored by somebody, some sort of confederate. You cant hide out in germany with a manhunt like this forever so hes probably being protected but as far as high jacking the truck, i agree, its easy to do and its unstoppable. We know that, juliet, this man was connected to another man by the name of ahmad abdulaziz, the head of a proisis group in germany who was charged with terrorism as recent as last month. Do you know anything about that groups connection specific specifically to isis and what chances they would have so he would talk. I dont know if hes talking but it shows you how extensive disrupting isis will be. So you taken a organization that has ties to isis, they arrest them. They get all sorts of information, including about amri you know in the attack this week. But theres probably hundreds of names in that documentation about this organization. So who they follow up on becomes an issue of resources and what intelligence is coming in about whom. For all we know and this is disconcerting for the germans, theres a group of people that theyre more worried about well before they were worried about amri or whoever else might have been involved with mondays attacks. I want to clarify one thing. This was not a syrian refugee. Its part of the atmospherics of the refugee crisis. This person was a german and i think his point was merkel had this open arms policy. I think politically people wont distinguish, either here or there they wont distinguish. Bob and juliette, thank you so much. Thank you. Up next, is it a show of force . Russias Vladimir Putin and president elect donald trump both making very public statements within hours of one another about each countrys Nuclear Weapon arsenal. Well talk to our correspondent at the pentagon about the timing of all of this. Also breaking news, the person president elect donald trump has just tapped to serve as his prowse press secretary. We now know. Also just in, ivanka trump and her husband harassed on a jetblue flight. What other passenger said that got him thrown off the plane. Whoa, whoa, i got this. Just gotta get the check. Almost there. I cant reach it. If you have alligator arms, you avoid picking up the check. What . Its what you do. I got this. Thanks, dennis if you want to save fifteen percent or more on car insurance, you switch to geico. Growwwlph. Its what you do. Oh that is good crispy duck. Therthere is nothing typical about making movies. Im victoria alonso and im an executive producer. At marvel studios. We are very much handson producers. If my office. Becomes a plane or an airport the surface pros perfect. Fast and portable but also light. You dont do this 14 hours a day, 7 days a week for. Decades if you dont feel it in your heart. Listen, i know my super power is to not ever sleep. Thats it. Thats the only super power i have. Welcome back. President elect trump offering signs he wants a change in the u. S. Nuclear program. Moments ago the president elect took to twitter writing the United States must greatly strengthen and its and its Nuclear Capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes. Now a little bit of context here. This comes the day after trump met with a number of military advisers and also a couple of hours after Vladimir Putin had met with military advisers as well. So with me now, pentagon correspondent barbara starr, retired Major General james spider marks, our military analyst. Barbara starr, let me begin with you. A, do we know what he meant by that tweet specifically when he said strengthen and expand . And what do you make of the timing . Well, the timing is really interesting here, brooke, mr. Trump has talked in the past about the need to modernize the aging nuclear infrastructure. That doesnt necessarily mean more Nuclear Weapons. He got a briefing at maralago yesterday about the Nuclear Modernization program, we are led to believe but he did tweet this today so we have to unpack it is he talking about modernizing u. S. Capability . Is he talking about some kind of expansion of the existing force of Nuclear Warheads which are limited by treaties . But the timing this comes after earlier today in moscow Vladimir Putin made some remarks about russias Nuclear Weapons capability. Let me quickly read that. The russian leader saying we need to strengthen the military potential of Strategic Nuclear forces, especially with missile complexes that can reliably penetrate any existing and pro officerive the Missile Defense systems. Vladimir putin talking about the capability to potentially attack Missile Defense systems is really a clear shot another the United States which is supporting Missile Defenses in europe. The russians believe that is a threat to them. They have long talked about that so mr. Putin at the same time talking about strengthening his nuclear forces. Heres the big unanswered questions. Are we seeing a Nuclear Standoff between the russian leader and the incoming american president or are they in agreement and if they are n agreement, what are they talking about . The answer is we dont know. You just asked a lot of Great Questions and general wrong you know the answers, either but im sure you have similar questions as far as what barbara pointed out what this would mean and what this means for a relationship with russia and putin and donald trump. Barbara is spot on, as she always is, which is that we dont know if there is an effort to what you and i remember as detente where there might in fact be some real strong the last treaty was in 2011 which was about measurements to reduce nuclear expansion, thats good through 2021. I would hope thats not a methodology about how it could be more precise but maybe this is an opportunity for the United States and russia to cooperate if we are in fact going down this past when you look at capabilities that are expanding in a place called north korea which has gone unchecked over the course of the last six or seven years in terms of their Nuclear Development and their Missile Development which has yet to be married up so this could be a discussion that moves us in the right direction. But this is a shoulder shrug. We dont know. He talked about north korea as candidate trump. Before i let you go, id be remiss not to ask what do you make of the next president of the United States thinking out loud on twitter on nukes . Thats concerning to me and, brooke, i assume youre asking me that question . Yes, sir. Thats very concerning only because of the nature of the nukes, the triad that we have. Those capabilities are pronounced, well guarded, highest classification levels, the training of our nuke force is phenomenal, the air force and navy do that exceptionally well. It concerns me that our president elect would do that. Major general spider marks, barbara starr, thank you both so very much. We do have breaking news into cnn. Donald trump naming his communications team, including his press secretary, that coming out moments ago. Well tell you who is at the top of that list. And just into us, ivanka trump and her husband were apparently harassed on an airplane. Well tell you what another passenger apparently said to them and the photo that captured the moment. In one of Donald Trumps last administration picks for the holidays, the president elect has tapped rnc spokesman someone you see on cnn all the time sean spicer as White House Press secretary. Spicer is a sixyear veteran of the Republican National committee, well positioned among the Washington Press corps. More recently he has been acting as a spokesman for the trump transition team. So lets go to jim acosta, our cnn senior white house correspondent. We know sean so congrats to sean. Tell me more about his rhett may and any other names as part of this announcement. Brooke, weve been hearing sean spicers name for a while. Kellyanne conway, who was tapped as the counselor to the president , she was initially offered this position very early on after the election, she turned it down, she wanted a bigger more highprofile role closer to the president of the United States and she got that in being named counselor to the president. Now being press secretary is not small potatoes as you know. Its a huge job. Just ask ari fleischer, jay carney, josh earnest, robert gibbs. These are very big wellestablished people in washington and its a huge, huge job. Youre tangling with the press everyday and sean spicer has shown it on your show and other shows on cnn that he can handle it. He is somebody that donald trump has grown to really like. He tangled with Michael Smerconish on cnn and we were told that following that performance he got on a pat on the back from the president elect himself. There were other people named today, the new Communications Director, hope hicks the longtime spokesperson for donald trump will be the director of strategic communications, she was a fixture on the campaign trail handling the booking requests and sca vino, a lowlevel staff inside the Trump Organization for many years but got very good at instagraming and tweeting pictures of donald trump here there and everywhere is now the director of social media inside the white house so brooke it goes to show if you were there at the beginning of one of these campaigns, we saw with the Obama Campaign and moving into the obama white house, the bush years and so on, if youre there at the beginning you can land top primo spots in the administration and thats whats happened. Safe sean spicer, who came in towards the end when Reince Priebus and Kellyanne Conway were coming in to right the ship after Corey Lewandowski went by the wayside, Paul Manafort and so on, spicer, prooeiebus, that came in toward the end. Theyll be calling a lot of shots and dealing with folks like us on a daily basis. Yeah, they will. A huge deal. Congrats to them. Jim acosta, thank you so much. You bet. Lets turn to other news just into us, a senior official in the trump transition telling cnn the Incoming Administration is mulling a double digit tariff on imports. The move a not to Trumps Campaign promise to create jobs but one business source that could spark a trade war so let me bring in cnn politics reporter Jeremy Diamond who got the latest. Were talking double digits, jeremy. We had initially been reporting five. What is it now . I spoke with a senior transition official who said it could be as high as 10 . Certainly theyre mulling higher more than a 5 transfer and what theyre talking about is an acrosstheboard tariff on imports which is smoking folks in the big business community, especially a lot of consumer goods that rely on imports. You could see consumer goods prices rise if a measure were to go in effect. Im told this is being discussed with house leadership officials and so far the senior transition official i spoke with said they were finding some Common Ground but its unclear exactly what that Common Ground is and were not hearing too much from the house side so far but this could be a starting negotiate position, weve seen this time and again from Donald Trumps campaign where they start at a high figure, something radical and come down to more of a middle position once they start negotiating. Jeremy diamond, stay with me. I want to bring in two more people, richard quest, cnns foremost International Business correspondent and host of quest means business and also juana summers, cnns politics editor there as well. Richard quest, to you, economists are responding saying this could spur a global recession, depress global trade. What do you think . Well, if you want to put the fox amongst the chickens then this is exactly the right way to go about it, there is no doubt, brooke. Look, first of all there will be questions as to its legality and that relates not only to wto rules but bilateral trade treaties the u. S. Will have with other nations but lets assume for purposes of discussion that we can put those legalistic nice tees to one side. Okay. T the. The reality is tit for tat. If you introduce these tariffs on imports, then outgoing exports can expect quit pro quo going the other direction. I want to move off that, juana, let me move on the reporting we just heard from jim, sean spicer now officially appointed as the press secretary for the next administration and also Kellyanne Conway who we know he had been offered that job, she said thanks but no thanks but now shes officially a quote unquote counselor to the president. What will that mean . Given the role weve seen from Kellyanne Conway so far as Trumps Campaign manager and the role shes played in taking a front facing role towards the press i would expect to see her be someone who handles strategic messaging coming out of the campaign, takes a lead role as weve seen her do in the last couple weeks since donald trump has become president elect trump and talking to people, making sure the message is clear. Shes a long time veteran pollster. A lot of us who reported in washington worked with her during the course of the campaign. Shell play a lead role in messaging along with sean spicer. Another well known washington person. For a lot of reporters who might be concerned that the Trump Administration will be chilly to the press, someone like spicer as White House Press secretary is a welcome spine. Now to the story everyone is talking about and we can officially because we have a photo, thank you, tmz. The arrow is pointing to ivanka trump who is sitting with her children, i believe, Jeremy Diamond, you know the story, and her husband when someone started harassing them and he got chucked off the plane. What happened . Well, it seems that there was a gentleman on the plane who came up to ivanka and Jared Kushner and essentially began haranguing them for their relationship to the president elect and i had a Trump Organization spokesperson tell me that really theyre letting the story stand for itself suggesting that its something pretty outrageous as far as they see it. And we also had an understanding from a trump transition source who told me they are flying to hawaii for some vacation so not going to maralago where the president elect and some of his family are residing for the christmas holiday. So richard quest, you fly all the time, youre our aviation correspondent. And shame on the person who harassed them. I dont care how you feel aboabout donald trump, thats rude and disgraceful to be harassing somebody with little children. Have you ever heard of Something Like this . Oh, yes, oh, yes, this is not the first time this sort of thing has happened. It usually happens with politicians. A few british politicians have been rounded out. I present cnn Business Traveller and i can tell you its abhorrent. I dont care what he father does or what shes done. Shes paid for a seat i hope and shes entitled to sit in it. I was trying to see if she was in first class or economy. Looks like shes at the front of the bus but it doesnt matter. Shes entitled to travel from a to b, she has the middle seat i noticed in the peace and quiet. She was hoping for that and thats a long flight all the way to hawaii. I need to get this in the question is why didnt her father let her use the jet . Well, you know, im sure the father is using the jet elsewhere. Let me get this in, quest. Jetblue said to cnn the decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly, if the crew determines a customer is causing conflict on the aircraft, the customer will be asked to deplane, especially if the crew feels the situation runs the risk of escalation during flight, in this instance our team worked to reaccommodate the party on the next available flight. Do we know, jeremy, did they make it to hawaii . We dont have confirmation. Im not sure they would have landed by now but well check back. Richard quest, Jeremy Diamond, juana summers, thank you all. Up next, the Syrian Army Declares aleppo free of armed guards. Armed groups, rather. Well take you live to the turkish Syrian Border as evacuations come to an end. President obama is opening up about his eight years in the white house as the nations first africanamerican president in this wideranging multipart interview with the atlantic. The outgoing commanderinchief gets personal about his views on race and politics. He talks about growing up as a biracial child in kansas and why people lean on stereotypes. He says the suspicion between race, the way it can manifest itself in politics in part comes out of peoples daily interactions and the fact that were segregated by communities and schools and our churches and peoples memories passed down through generation generations. He goes on what i didnt appreciate when i first came into this office was the debris to which that reality would be the only thing a large chunk of the electorate, particularly the white electorate, would see. Joining me, rich benjamin, a author of searching for whitopia and mr. Nutter, former mayor of philadelphia. Mr. Mayor, reading through this wi with tanehisi coates, the president s candor, did you get the sense he was finally getting some of these thoughts off his chest . Well, brook, i had the same experience at the tail end of your eight years as a chief executive and i was only the mayor of philadelphia, hes president of the United States of america. There is a little more freedom that comes with that. I said to the president a good while back that in the second term theres a word called liberation and i think increasingly youre going to hear more and more of his thoughts. He is so responsible of a person and so stand up of a person that he rises that saying maybe some of these things while he is in the heart of his president ial time could have a greater impact on some members of the public that dont share those views but those are his views, he is living out his Life Experience and that piece that you read is absolutely true. Its just surprising for someone who you know, many of us were raised work hard, go to school, get good grades, stay out of trouble and you can be successful. And to be confronted with the reality that so many people apparently dont share that feeling is tough. Especially when youre working your tail off each and everyday to make things better for everyone. I know you are and i like how you snuck that in well, heres what i told the president. Very nice. I did. Nice. Rich, let me quote the president when he talks about his struggles as being the first black president there is no doubt there have been occasions during my presidency when ive said yall just would not do this with anybody else. Now obviously the whole birth certificate thing is the most salient example. Part of what is difficult is the degree to untangling which issues are because of race and some just a coarsening of the political culture and a sharpening of the political divides. What do you make of that . Do you think hes saying that because hes a democrat . Because hes had a tough time with congress . Because hes black . Well, brooke, we definitely had a Republican Congress who would have been an obstacle to any democratic president but i understand the difficulty hes talking about in untangling race from these issues because his opponents made immigration reform, health care reform, public spending, race became a proxy for these issues and you heard dog whistle politics into his presidency and even in this campaign and when your opposition welds race into these issues, indeed, we shouldnt be surprised that its difficult for this president to untangle whats race and whats not. He also talked about the full weight of his first election didnt hit him until his second term. He said the first inauguration he said its like your wedding. Its a joyous moment and occasion but youre so busy and stressed. It ends up going by without you knowing whats happening, the second one you can saver. Savor. To win a majority the second time indicates we worked with a broad Cross Section of the country and they trusted what we were trying to do. Mayor nutter, he talks about other black politicians he thinks could rise to his level or could have in 08. He named former Massachusetts Governor deval patrick. Is there another barack obama . Well, barack obama is a unique individual and no one should try to be barack obama. Ive always said to my fellow elected officials or former colleagues, be yourself. Certainly you can aspire to some of the characteristics of a barack obama, a Martin Luther king jr. , and so many, many others that weve seen in American History but hes a unique individual. I think back to the agagwen ifi book, i believe the title was the breakthrough. I was in boston in 2004 for our Democratic Convention and heard this young senator running for office and that speech which helped catapult him through the 2008 election. So first inauguration is kind of like a wedding. By the second one you know the job and whats ahead but people seem to forget. Senator u. S. Senator obama and u. S. Senator john mccain were running during the time of the gate recession and when the president president his hand on the bible and took his oath of office the country was in serious freefall. So that was the focus, that was the effort in pushing through the economic recovery plan, pulling us back in the brink of collapse. Theres Collateral Damage that goes with those efforts. Nobody was happy but blamed him for a recession that he had nothing do with. So you deal with your circumstance. He was the right person at the right time. Theres no question about it and then took on all the other issues that other president s who are not africanamerican, who are not persons of color would not have to worry about. 29 more days of this current president. Dont say that, brooke. Come on, mayor nutter, my your michael nutter, rich benjamin, thank you. Lets be optimistic and hopeful. Thank you gentlemen. Speaking of donald trump, hiss cabinet is complete. Its a cabinet full of high ranking members of the military, successful businessmen and women many of whom are multimillionaires. You see their faces here. But is there something more to it . Critics have pointed out its not especially diverse and now the Washington Post taking it a step further asking whether the former reality tv star is holding a government casting call of sorts, the president elect has commented on looks and popular appeal of picks and his running mate specifically and also secretary of defense. Here he was. Reporter indianas Unemployment Rate and this is the primary reason i wanted mike other than he looks very good. Other than hes gotten a incredible family, incredible wife and family. They say hes the closest thing to general George Patton that we have and its about time. Its about time. Okay, let me bring in National Political correspondent Karen Tumulty who cowrote this Washington Post piece about the right look that trump may be looking for. It was a great read, a fascinating read, you and Phillip Rucker writing this. It talked about a lot of his appointees have a certain look. How do you mean . Well, as hes trying to figure out mo who can do the job, it helps in Donald Trumps book if the candidate actually looks the part and dont forget one of his knocks on Hillary Clinton during the campaign was that she didnt have a president ial look and that people would want that look. So not only in his own comments, but in people around him both on the record and on background say that if somebody has the look that he imagines in the particular role that he is casting, it gives them a real leg up which helps explain why for instance secretary of state came down to mitt romney and rex tillerson, both of whom have this sort of full head of hair corporate buttoned up bearing. People who can sort of walk into a room and kind of own it. Im listening to you and i want to get to john bolton in just a second and the mustache. But i can hear in my head folks from the other side saying hang on a second, you look at their resumes, is it necessarily a bad thing if youre looking at trump as a former tv executive, presentation maybe does matter more . Is that a bad thing . Well, his you know, the people around him, jason miller who, by the way, has a beard, just was appointed Communications Director said, you know, presentation is important because that is part of the whole Communications Strategy in their view. All right, former u. N. Ambassador john bolton was considered for secretary of state, you wrote that one of trumps associates said donald was not going to like that mustache. What did you find out . Well, it was interesting because it was not just that person but a number of people that we talked to said that, you know, again, john bolton had many, many things working both in his favor and against him, but people around trump said the mustache was . The latter category. Well, must be has been made about his hair but there you have it. Karen tumulty on the look. Thank you so much. From the Washington Post. Next, just into cnn, the certainian army has declared aleppo free of armed groups. Well take you live to the turkish Syrian Border coming up. Weand sustainability goals asool one of our top priorities. Mental i definitely rely on pg e to be an energy advisor. Anything from rebates, to how can we be more efficient . Pg e has a number of programs, to help schools save on energy. When i see a program that fits them, then i bring it to them. With the help of pg e weve been able to save a tremendous amount of energy and a tremendous amount of money. Were able to take those savings and invest it right back into the classroom. Together, were building a better california. Breaking news out of syria. The Syrian Regime says it has taken full control of aleppo, marking a major turning point in the countrys five year civil war. The syrian staterun news outset will reporting the last convoy carrying rebel fighters and their families have left, the evacuation of the border city is now complete. Cnns Muhammad Lila is joining us from the border. Muhammad, what are you hearing . Reporter this announcement was made a short time ago. Syrian state television breaking into regular programming to announce all groups have been evacuated from east aleppo. Turkish state media saying the same thing, one of the biggest turning points since the war began. You have to remember that part of east aleppo was used by the rebels as a base for their operations for more than four years and what this effectively means is that the city, a, is no longer divided but, b, its now entirely under the control of the Syrian Government of bashar al assad. A big, big defeat, no question for the rebels who are regrouping in a province just north of aleppo called idlib close to the turkey border. The question now is well, what happens to the state of the revolution, when the rebels home base is no longer their home base anymore. What then happens with aleppo . Exactly. So what we understand and the Syrian Military has been announcing this for a couple days, theyve said, look, once these last evacuees leave, the next step is to send in engineers to give the all clear and the regime wants people to move back to eastern aleppo, theyll try hard based on previous reports what haves going on to get life back to normal somehow you know thats almost impossible when part of a city has been bombed almost everyday for the last three or four years but thats their game plan, get life back to normal, rebuild and force the remaining rebels to realize that they should put down their weapons. Thats been their game plan and athat i announced it on state television. One military commander saying youve lost the city, its time for the remaining rebels to put down your arms, this is an unwinnable fight for you. Amazing. The regime says move back. Also a huge challenge other than the obvious, the weather. Weve been looking at the pictures, the snow, the subfreezing temperatures making this entire process massively difficult. Muhammad lila, thank you for your reporting all week. Straight ahead, into international manhunt, what Law Enforcement is revailing about what the suspect who drove a truck through a crowded market in berlin is about, his past plans to want to commit terror attacks, plus her story is one of bravery and perseverance and last night cindy stoles dream of becoming a jeopardy champion finally came to a close. Next, the contestant who brought her sixgame winning streak to an end. What she was like to compete against. What a story this is. Stay here. Cindy stowells run as a jeopardy champion has come to an end, but this womans bravery and her story of perseverance will live on for a long, long time. She won the legendary game show six times. Those episodes have just aired on television, but what the audience didnt know all the while was that back when the show taped during the summer that cindy was fighting stage four colon cancer. She just recently died december 5 and after cindys streak ended with last nights show, jeopardy posted a tribute video on twitter and in it she explains what she wants done with her more than 100,000 in winnings. I wanted to donate a lot of the money to Cancer Research. Partly because this is hard and im sorry, maybe i should pause or Something Like that but im dying of cancer and i really would like the money that i win to be used to help others and so this seems like a good opportunity. Oh, how about that . Joining me now, sam scow valval victory that ended cindys sixgame streak. Sam, thank you for joining me today, congrats on your win. Thank you. But more importantly i want to talk about your comrade over there at jeopardy and what cindy was like. Did you even have a clue when you were taping the show what a brave woman you were competing against . No, the jeopardy staff, to their credit, they didnt tell anybody about cindys condition. There were some clues about that she wasnt 100 but nothing to suggest she had stage four cancer at all. Even with the assumptions that i had which were didnt come close to how she was, i still saw her perform and she did obviously she did incredible on that program. So when you found out you were totally shocked . Absolutely. I was shocked and i was guilt ridden, too. Ill be honest, i took it hard knowing that i was going to be the one that ended up defeating her on jeopardy. Well, youre sitting here on national tv and talking about her and what a graceful woman and fierce competitor. What kind of competitor was she with you . Well, she was a very nice person, most people they get on jeopardy and this is a credit to their work they choose some very wonderful very nice people to go on the show and the people that i was with that week were all exceptional, intelligent and competitive people but they were fair, they wanted the best for everybody even though they knew one person had to be the winner on each society but they knew what kind of opportunity and experience it was and how great the whole thing was so the overall experience even with now knowing cindys condition and how that ended up is still an incredible experience and im glad to have had it. Her boyfriend was in the audience, hes obviously been a huge supporter of hers and weve heard from him. Did you get a sense of the Family Support . Unfortunately, jeopardy doesnt allow us to talk to any other audience members when were at the program so i didnt get to meet him in person during the tapings, however in the past weeks ive reached out to him on twitter and hes been an incredible person. Hes been giving out support at a time when he should be receiving it and im impress ed by the quality of person hes been. And cindy was lucky to have him in her life. Before i let you go, you tweeted a request for donations to Cancer Research. Did you know cindys plans for her own prize money . What do you make of her announcement that shell give a lot of hers to Cancer Research in. I had no idea that was going to happen at all. I didnt know until the until her passing. Pretty much the same time i found out about her passing. Its been very inspiring. Ill be donating a portion of my winnings as well do Cancer Research institute. I think its the right thing to do. I cant say im going to do all of it. I have to be a little bit selfish if you can forgeneral electric forgive me for that. Forgiven. Just the fact that you are giving a portion tells me what kind of human you are. Sam scovil, thank you so much and good luck with jeopardy. Thank you. Thank you. Lets continue on. Hour two, youre watching cnn, im brooke baldwin.
