When the waters came through, they took out small bridges and roads that connect neighborhoods to main thoroughfares meaning people have not been able to get out since the floodwaters rose. We would create human chains to get bags to go up into the mountains to try to feed people. We also had the National Guards help. They were search and rescue, but we were bringing them meals as well to keep them fed and keep them, you know, alert as they are out there doing their search and rescue. I mean, this is a situation in the United States where people were completely out of food, so they were hugely grateful when you got will there. What sort of stories did you discover when you got to the people that needed these burritos . Mainly the things that you would hear are just lost family members. Just everybody seemed to have had someone lost somewhere or someone couldnt find someone. It was just that sense of everyone still looking. Everyone is just still looking for someone. Yeah, to have no food, to have no water, and to have no place to live, that is a trifecta. And just to see the people, though, their faces, the pure you just know the grit that they have to survive. And you can see it in their faces. But you can also see the hope from the thousands that are coming in daily to try to help. Loads of water, loads of food, you know, anything, toilet paper. You name it, they need it. Dog food, cat food. The kentucky wildcats last night threw a benefit in our stadium and they raised i think the Basketball Team raised almost 2 million to try to help. Ukrainian military says that they have been able to carry out strikes on three russian targets in that area using ukrainian planes, able to take out those three targets in addition to taking out some sort of a russians weapons depot. They also say that they have been able to carry out long range missile attacks on russian targets in the south. But in the east it is the russians who say that they have been able to gain some ground there. They say that they have been able to take over several settlements in the doughesque in a donetsk area of done bus, but ukrainians pushing back saying any gains were incremental and they have been able to push them back just a bit. U. S. Ambassador to ukraine weighing in on this issue, basically saying the weapons, the aid that the United States has given ukraine has greatly helped the efforts. But president zelenskyy also weighing in on this issue saying that ukraine when it comes to military is really still at a disadvantage. Translator we cannot overcome the advantage russian army has in artillery and troop numbers and this is felt in combat especially donbas. It is just hell there, words cannot describe it. Reporter also wanted to speak what president zelenskyy was saying about evacuation efforts in donbas. As you know, that is well under way, there are some 200,000 people that need to be evacuated out of the area. Those delegations will be taking a look at the vessel, ensure that it is only carrying the agricultural goods that were agreed upon under the framework of the black Sea Grain Initiative deal. Primarily the corn that is being transported to lebanon. There are 26,000 metric tons currently on board this vessel. Once it passes the inspection, it will sail to lebanon which will be welcome news to lebanon. But this really is just the beginning, this is a critical moment that World Leaders have been waiting for, because no grain shipments have left black seaport since the war again. But only a small fraction of grain currently stuck in silos in ukraines southern black seaports. What this really is a test of how well this deal can work in practice. In Major League Baseball the padres have acquired allstar outfielder juan soto as part of a blockbuster trade with the washington nationals. In just five seasons, soto has established himself as one of baseballs most feared hitters. He was indeed another father. And eventually many, many years later, he wrote in a column maybe i was the son he had never had, maybe the red hair had something to do with it, but we were that close. Reporter cscully was honore by the hall of fame, lauded by critics including author of voices of the game. I think anyone who really has studied baseball broadcasting or indeed heard vin scully would agree that scully is the roy hobbs of baseball broadcasting, best there ever was. He has converted more casual fans in to hardened fans and more nonbaseball fans into baseball fanatics than virtually any broadcaster that i can think of.
