A fire official tells me those people are in a safe zone and no immediate danger for now. That conversation coming up in just a few minutes time. Just to give you an update. That same fire known as the creek fire is burning out of control. 0 contained. A local official says its grown into unprecedented disaster and forcing mandatory evacuations in two counties. This is one of 20 currently that arent burning right now. Taking measures to avoid adding to the crisis. Tens of thousands of administrations could spark more fire. Dan simon was at the sight of the creek fire. Dan . Reporter the fire is getting dangerously close to some of these mountain communities. The town of auberry had to evacuate as the flames overtook the hillside. For the most part, this fire is burning the rugged sierra force. We have a lot of campers who need this area. Thats why you have all of the people who are at the boat launch who have to be air lifted. Ten or so people exhibit moderate injuries. Meantime, were getting more information about the gebnder reveal party. They went to a nearby park to basically announce the gender of their baby and they had a pyrotechnic device. Supposedly theres nobody coming. Well, that was Jeremy Remington who is stranded, as you can see, surrounded on all sides by flames. He was able to later record this vehicle of his rescue, thank goodness, a among many others. Lets go to the public rescue administration. Good to have you with us. Talk us through about folks who are stranded at the moment where you are. What needs to be done . How are they doing . Can you get to them . Well, presently we do have some folks that had been inspired. They were in wilderness areas tracking, hiking, enjoying their time on the forest. Of course, the fire burning below them has now created an issue where they cant come down off of the mountain at this time. Its not safe for them to go town. At this time theyre not in any immediate danger, however, if the conditions were to change, they do have plans and theyve been in discussion trying to figure out how they can go in and guess these people off the mountain. Most likely they would use what they did the other day, the Army National guard, stationed out of the city of fresno, and they assisted with a rescue the other day. Thats how the people would come off of the mountain. Yeah, that was certainly pretty dramatic starts. How dense is the smogs or smoke and how does that impact the rescue . Well, there is a big impact because with the inversion that keeps the smoke down over the mountain range, the drainages of course impairs the ability for a pilot to see where hes going. So right now as we said, the people that are there are safe. Theyre not in any immediate danger. And unfortunately we may have to wait a little bit for the inversion to lift and when the smoke starts to lift up during the day, then the helicopter pilot will be able to get in. Whats the situation on the ground right now . If you can just give us a status report. Certainly. As of now, the creek fire burning here has burned 135 thour. Thats the report we got this evening. Unfortunately were at seaworld containment. Theres zero containment. How do you see the next few days play out . Are firefighters able to keep up the battle . Hopefully we can get some footing and get that anchor point thats necessary to start getting lines around the fire but, again, with the slow community. Tonight theyre expecting the moto wind which is a wind that comes out of the northeast. Theyre definitely keeping an eye on that hoping the wind this evening wont push it any louder. It is an unusual higher in many ways. This has a high degree of tree mortality based on gravel. So its very ripe for a fire, i guess, and once the fire got its footing, its really just continuing to burn. But were doing everything we can, throwing everything at it. Pyrotechnic devices are used to announce the sex of a baby whmpt it ignited it quickly spread to surrounding areas. The fire started somewhere behind us here in el dorado park. Family came out here to do a gender reveal thing for the family, a photo opportunity. During that they used a pyrotechnic device which emits smoke and heat. That was placed directly in some seasonal grass which is no longer behind us. That grass ignited and the fire rapidly spread to the ridge line you see behind us here. After the fire began the family attempted suppression on their own. They tried to use Water Bottles which in four foot high grass youre never going to capture a grass fire with that, theyre not the fire department. So they did call 911 and they remained at scene until fire resources and Law Enforcement arrived.
