The democrats are claiming they are the only party that can get control of these cities and these riots that are controlled by democratic mayors. Thats why the president went to wisconsin. Well, its clear that Donald Trumps tactic here is, hes like the arsonist who puts on a fire to set a building on fire. Whether it is the systemic racism and the consequences that were seeing in communities, the peaceful protests that are coming out against that. These are circumstances that hes trying to use to incite viles and to paint a picture. The big picture here is we cannot divorce this from the context of 185,000 people dead to a pandemic. Do you think that this is an effort on the part of President Trump to distract us and have us talking about law and order because its something he can control but not the pandemic which he sadly has failed miserably to contain. You have governors involved. Local authorities involved. You have a lot of people involved in the decisionmaking and nobody is happy with the death count. Im certainly not. I wish no one had died. I wish it were over. But i think if youre donald trump and looking at this through a political lens what you have focus on moving forward what is my administration doing now to get us close to a vaccine. What youll hear the president talk about in the fall what they are doing to speed up the process. Number two, i dont view the riots and protests and race issues we have going on in america a distraction from anything. They are their own organic item. Things were seeing with Police Departments and folks that died that wasnt a response to pandemic those were events. So what the president is doing is responding to those at the same time. Its just i think the president sees the circumstances around the protests different than my colleague and he some of the democrats see it. These buildings are not burning themselves down. Looting stores arent looting themselves. There are people doing this and americans demanding answers. Scott i want to ask you this. How do you condone that as a republican . First of all conspiracy theories pushed by anybody whether the president or anybody else involved in politics are a dead end. They are a dead end for your party and you personally. However, its not a Conspiracy Theory that people who were walking out of the white house last thursday night who had attended the president s speech were, in fact, accosted in the streets by radical protesters in washington, d. They pointed out something that was done by russia in 2016 as they tried to split the democratic vote in support for hillary clinton. The good news here is that these pages had relatively low traction. Facebook, the fbi and others seemed to catch them early on in their sort of infancy. And they had posted about other issues not just the election. The bad news here is of course this is happening at all and that russia is active in this space so close to novembers election. One particular new development which we hadnt seen with this sort of operation in 2016 was the use of artificially generated images. Take a look at this twitter account which was also removed belonging to a person purportedly called alex lacosta who is the yeeditor of pea data. Experts who looked at these accounts said that image is actually generated through using Artificial Intelligence technology. Its a deep fake image. Meaning the person in that picture does not actually exist. Prior to this an easy way to spot a fake account or one way to spot a fake account is if it used profile pictures and stolen them from a real person. Obviously with this new development in technology thats something thats no longer possible. So with just a few weeks to go until novembers 2020 election a good reminder to all of us to be careful with what we encounter online and that with new developments in Technology Come new risks. The data on convalescent plasma is simply not Strong Enough to say that we should be scaling this up at broad scale and whats problematic about the emergency authorization also that its going mean many, many fewer people enrolling in Clinical Trials that will actually help us figure out is it safe, is it effective in which patients an in what settings. Right now were flying blind out any of that information. On the one hand the fda still is the organization, the institution that decides if this has emergency authorization or not. But the nih is our premier Scientific Institution in this country and they clearly have cited on the side of sipes. Right. Doctor, President Trumps covid testi testing, its utopian to think much should get tested every day even though nobody does that but the white house and major sports do. But why cant we have better and faster testing given that 40 of covid infections are asymptomatic. Isnt that a powerful argument for testing . It is. One major problem here is that the fda currently looks at tests only in the context of clinical diagnosis. So a patient comes to you, do they have coronavirus or not . Is that whats causing their symptoms . What we really want are cheap, very quick tests that can to be done much greater scale. A test you can do at home. They are intended to tell you are you infectious to other people or not. Those tests do exist. We were given access to one of moscows top schools where some measures like testing and teachers in facemasks have been implemented. I see they are not using face masks. No one we spoke to here have taken the russian vaccine even though teachers along with doctors were given first access after the vaccine was fast tracked to approval before completing phase three human trials. Theres some concern it might not be safe, it might not be effective. Have you heard that concern amongst your colleagues, amongst teachers . They are worried about the vaccine we hardly discuss it here. I think every teacher understands how important to be safe and to, to create a safe environment for our students to be healthy. One russian Teachers Union has started an online petition calling on members to reject the vaccine outright on safety grounds and expressing concern that vaccination currently should not be mandatory unless Clinical Trials are complete. Of those 14 suspects you mentioned that are essentially suspected and accused by the prosecution of having helped in the logistical preparation of these attacks, bear in mind the three actual perpetrators were killed over the course of those three days of attacks. Those 14 suspects only 11 of them are actually present. Three are still on the run including the wife of one who fled to syria. So much attention, in fact, given to this trial that special rooms have been created so that the public can come and witness whats going on inside. The end of the suspects behind special bullet proof glass. They confirm their name and date of bitter. Suspects on the other side is here not actually incarcerated for the time being.
