The children orphaned by isis. Inside a displacement camp in syria. Where many of the youngest are in desperate conditions. Stranded with nowhere to go. Welcome to the viewers. This is cnn newsroom. Special counsel russia Investigation Report is expected to be delivered to the u. S. Attorney general any time now. President trump tweeted monday that he expected the report to reveal the probe as a sham. Never theless white House Attorneys want to get a look at it before the attorney general sends anything to lawmakers. We explain why. We have learned white house lawyers expect to review whatever version of muellers report attorney general submits to congress before it reaches lawmakers and the public. This is up a potential flash point. A political battle over the hotly anticipated document. The attorneys want the white house to have an opportunity to claim executive privilege over information from documents and interviews with white house officials. Sources said. The white house review executive privilege claims are within the legal per view. This could set up a political battle over the perception of President Trump trying to shield certain information from the public. About an investigation that swirled around him since the first day of his presidency. One source close to the white house put it, theres always been tension between what looks best politically and what represents the interest of the institution. Preserving executive privilege trumps political optics and the white house view. Rudy giuliani the outside attorney has said he wants to assert executive privilege. Thats up to the white house. Its up to the president and the white house counsel. Doing that. We should note it allows the president conversations with other officials be kept confidential. If he chooses to assert it. Justice department lawyering could advise him against it if they dont feel its legally defensible. If President Trump does assert the privilege the decision could be litigated in court. If its challenged which democrats would almost certainly do. Thanks so much for that. Now inside into how americans are feeling ability the economy and President Trump. In a brand new cnn poll, seven in ten believe the economy is in good shape. 71 is the best rating during trumps presidency. And the highest since february 201. The president Approval Rating ticked up to 42 . 51 say they disapprove. That is the lowest number to say that in cnn polling since the start of the trump presidency. It was a busy weekend online for President Trump. He took aim at many of the adversaries. Living and dead. Leaving white house officials to follow behind a tempting to clarify the president s intentions. We have the report. Reporter it started over the weekend when the president made a rare trip to church and lasted until his monday morning exec tiff time. Unhole le tweet storm airing an avalanche of grievances. The president lashed out at the press after the mosque massacre in new zealand. Tweeting the Fake News Media is working over time to blame me for the horrible attack. It was new zealand killer who called attention to the president rhetoric. Describing trurp in a manifesto as a symbol of white identity. The president is on his heels after down playing white nationalism. I dont really. I think its a small group of people that have very serious problems. I guess if you look at what happened in new zealand perhaps thats the case. I dont know enough about it. Were learning about the person. Its a terrible thing. In response to the barrage of tweets the husband of whout counsellor Kellyanne Conway prominent d. C. Attorney suggested the president suffers from a personality disorder. Adding his condition is getting worse. A view not shared by his wife. I dont understand the concerns. I have four kid. I didnt talk to the president about substance. I may not be up to speed. The president attacked his old nemesis john mccain. Who died in august. About peddling a dossier. Tweeting it was indeed mccain who sent the fake dossier. Hoping to have it printed before the election. Working together failed as usual. Mccains daughter fired back at the president. I thought your life is spent on your weekends not with your family. Not with your friends but obsessing over great men you could never live up to. That tells you everything you need to know about his pathetic life. In a sign of offered a muted response to the president. Tweeting. Nothing about Mccain Service will be changed or diminished. President poll numbers ticked up in recent weeks in part because of the healthy economy. 71 saying the nation is in good fist cal shape. Which may explain why the president feels em boldened to call on fox news to bring back judges show. After a rant about congresswoman o mar. She wears a hi jab. Indicative of her to law. Which in itself to the United States constitution . President defended her on the same weekend as people in nrz were reeling from a terror attack on muslims. White house acting chief of staff insisted mr. Trump is not a racist. The president is not a white supremacist. Im not sure how many times we have to say that. The president attended church on sunday he was exposed to a message of tolerance at the service. The reverend called on americans to reject hatred. When ever we over hear or over see hateful slurs against other people. Perhaps we need the holy courage to call them out. And say its not us. The president will soon find hichls in the company of a like minded foreign leader when brazilian president visits the white house on tuesday. He has been described as the trump of the tropics. Saying immigrants coming to brazil are the scum of the earth. For more on this lets turn to scott lucas. In britain. A professor of International Politics at the university of birmingham. Good to have you with us. While world has been focussed on the terror attacks in new zealand and talking about them the president is tweeting about other issues and down playing threat posed by white supremacy. Which has his aids insisting hes not racist. He hasnt condemned the hateful ideology. Why is that . I could do speculating. One could talk about trumps psychological make up. One could talk about the past when charlottesville. He refused to condemn white extremism over the violence there. One can talk about the fact that he is quick to condemn an act of violence committed by someone who is a muslim. Opposed to someone who doesnt happen to be muslim. There are elements of race, religion and trumps personality. For most lets be clear, hepts the attention on himself. Christ church took the attention away from donald trump. He put out an initial tweet which he deleted which said to everybody go read bright bart. Then what he wanted to do is look at me. Look at how horrible the trump russia investigation s. How horrible john mccain is. His longs long time foe. Target of insults. Look how horrible saturday night live is because they make fun of me. In other words when it comes down to a decision between white sum supremacy and his ego. When 50 people were killed because of the act of violence in new zealand. I want to move onto the new poll numbers. We read them out to people. They share the president s Approval Rating up slightly to 42 . We learned that 71 of the polled say the economy is in great shape. How unusual is it to see the Approval Rating so low. At the same time the economy is walking along. What does that tell us . People are deeply polarized about donald trump. The numbers have remained the same in terms of approval. And despite the confidence in the economy at this point, you arent shaking that polar sooigs. And bringing people. Well see three campaigns in 2020. The sensible campaign to raun is look at me i have over seen this Economic Growth. If that Economic Growth continues which is questionable. He can play leadership. The Second Campaign is one that trump wants to run. Which is we dont like immigrants tli are invading america. We dont like democrats theyre a socialist. Enemy within. We dont like and have questions about people of color. Now which of the campaigns will they choose . Logically i would say you win with the first one. We know they dont necessarily follow logic. Theres a third campaign. What do democrats do . The democrats say lets look at the economy. And healthcare. Lets look at education. The environment. And lets look at competence. Whose hands are you safer with where ever the economy is. Which ever campaign has most of the person people rather than the opinion polls. That decides trump future. We shall see of course who ends up being the candidate. Who goes toe to toe with mr. Trump. I want to ask you the report from the Mueller Investigation its expected to come out any day now. Sources say white House Attorneys want to see the findings before they are submitted to congress. So they can claim executive privilege. How do you expect that to play out . First of all caution. Trumps camp has been saying since thanksgiving of 2017 they expected the report any day. I think the latest way you have here is although mueller obviously is closer to completing his report. The white house is kicking back against a house resolution. Unanimously passed last week. Which said the Mueller Report must be made public. They are scared to death if it goes public it will damaging to trump. They will want to insist redactions and things that is are hidden from us. Ton honest. And they want to see the report first and theyre saying this is urgent. Its coming out soon. In order theyre playing politics. They are very concerned. It will be interesting to see how much we see of the report. Always a pleasure to chat with you. Well take a short break. New zealand is mourning the lost in the friday mosque attack. Well hear the Prime Ministers plan to heal her nation. Plus. The vast majority in the over crowded and under funded camp are children. 40,000 of them stranded here. Hour long man hunt police in the Netherlands Police arrested a turkish man in connection with with a deadly shooting. Killing three people and wounding fife others on tram in the city. Authorities initially suspected terrorism. And the terror alert was raised to the highest level. The motive is unclear at this point. A prosecutor said the shooting could have been for family reasons. Police say the 37 yearold suspect had previous run ins with the police. The Prime Minister of new zealand tells her country speak the names of those who were lost. Rather than the name of the man who took them. Her comments came monday in parliament. In the first session since fridays Mass Shootings of two mosques in christ church. Country is in mourning after gunman took the lives of 50 people. Her aim was to pay tribute to those lost and part of her tribute was in arabic. A week since the attack. Members of Muslim Community will gather for worship on that day. Let us acknowledge the grief as they do. Lets support them as they gather again for worship. We are one. They are us. [ speaking Foreign Language ] Prime Minister once again continuing to show unity through support tr diversity and set the tone for the healing of the nation. Thats right. And try to comfort this country. And the people here to assure them they can and will be safe. The threat levels are still high. For fear of possible copy cat actions. And to troy to comfort people going forward. Now to get a better sense of just the sheer impact of what is clearly the deadliest act of terror in new zealand modern history. Im joined by the Womens Organization of muslim association. Apologies if i mangle the pronunciation. First of all my condolences in the wake of this terrible tragedy. And we just heard from the Prime Minister. Do members of the community do they feel comforted . Do they feel consoled and safe . In the days since this attack. I think that we feel comforted by our Prime Minister. I think her response has been quite powerful. And reassuring. And so in that aspect its been good. Regarding the safety, i think were concerned. Because we in the sense of knowing what is out there. This came as a surprise. Something we didnt expect. So people the unexpected thats what people are concerned about. But in the way it happened in new zealand its the most peaceful country. Or it was. In the world. To us its really hard to fathom. You just wonder what else. Can you help explain, i dont know if you are in direct contact with the families affected. What support systems right now what do people need most . In the wake of the atrocity. Depends on the age of the person. And depends on how they were impacted by the shooting. So people dont all have their loved ones back. Thats a priority for many. And to get them buried in a dignified manner and islamic tradition. Authorities have been overwhelmed by the scale of this. Their schedule for returning the bodies of the victims keeps getting pushed back. Its the number. Because were so small. You cant bring in a lot of people to do this. And because were so far away from other countries as well. That has played a factor in it. And but they are working through it. And people are doing the washing tonight of the bodies. In preparation for burial. But with 50 it takes a while to prepare them. And looking forward, do you know whether or not Community Leaders are anticipating reopening the mosque . For prayer. I actually was at the blessings of the when they went through to remove the negative experience. The concept of traditionally thats something done in new zealand. And everyone from the mosques are resolute these will be reopened and will come back. That is the plan. Im confident they will be reopened. And be functioning as soon as we can get them. We were speaking earlier. You mention youre an expatriot. From the u. S. And part of what attracted you here was safety and security. And not only was this devastating for the tiny minority of muslims in the country. Around 1 of the population flt for the people around it. Its everybody in new zealand. So there are over 4. 5 Million People impacted by this. Its not just the muslims that are feeling hurt. Its everybody. And everybody is grieving here. And from the Prime Minister down to Young Children in the school. Who are aware of it. Everybody is has been exacted. Im a high schoolteacher. You have seen this with students. I havent been back to the classroom. And probably not for the next week. I know they are because the message is theyre emailing me. Is relaying that. I have former students as well reassuring me that obviously that they couldnt believe it. But seeking support from me. To make sure that everything will be all right. And if adults are doing that former students. The students that im currently teaching are having that as well. There has been discussion about new gun control legislation. For new zealand. We are so supportive of that. There needs to be. We dont need to have gun usage the augmented in the country. Theres no reason to have an automatic weapon in the country. Theres no reason to other than hunting. Which you dont need those type of weapons. We havent needed it. Theres no reason to be selling them. I was struck that increase Police Presence you have Police Officers carrying rifles now. And that is something new zealand isnt used to. In reaction to this terror attack. It was very similar to what happened after 9 11. People were out in the airport with machine guns that we hadnt seen in the United States before then. This is new zealand. You dont see police do not carry guns. In front of the hospital. On the street. In front of places that theyre going to be a lot of people. Right now. Thats what theyre doing. We dont expect that forever. I hope its not forever. Thats not reassuring to children to say youre okay when people have guns and havent seen police with guns before. In the new zealand. Thank you very much. For sharing your perspective here. And i think that we do get a sense of just truly how earth shattering this has been for people sense of security and stability. In a country where everybody you talk to says we heard about these types of massacres and terror attacks but never thought they would reach our distant shores. And as the events of march 15 have proven. They have and this is a country still in mourning. For the 50 victims of that terrible day. Understandably so. Thank you. Appreciate it. Earlier i spoke with about the prospect for tougher gun laws in new zealand. Shes a professor in the department of public health. In wellington. We spoke about the opposition to new gun regulations. We heard a lot of push back. The same arguments the nra uses in the u. S. Fortunately we dont have anything like a second amendment. And selfdefense is not a legal reason to own a gun in new zealand. If you want a gun for selfdefense you will be denied a gun license. Thats a great thing. But its really depending on what the 90 of us who arent gun users or gun license owners. Licensed gun owners. How much push back we put into the equation. Because whats been happening over 30 years is that the gun lobby has made the treated the rest of us as if our opinions and our need to live in a safe society is completely irrelevant to gun policy. According to the country president. The situation a real humanitarian disaster. There are growing fears for more than 500,000 people in the low lying port city. Which aid Officials Say it almost completely destroyed. Lets turn to cnn who joins us from johannesburg on this. What are you learning about the impact of this cyclone across parts of africa . The massive impact by this cyclone. What with e know about the areas is frankly precious little at this stage. Government officials got into that city of around 500,000 people. As we said its a low lying region. At least one dam had a broken its banks in the recent days. Which really compounded the flooding. Joining the forceful waves approximate mass i gusts that were pushing down houses falling over trees and destroys parts of the at least one of the main hospitals. So the access is the big issue according to humanitarian workers wech spoken to. The main highway is cut off. They have four helicopters. One un and government helicopters accessing the scene. Giving life saving food and sanitation help. The cyclone didnt just his mozambique. It crashed through. And into key areas. Also have been cut off. And military engineers have been working to set up road systems to allow aid to get in. The severity is hard to judge. Look at those images the drone shots. You can see a massive part of the city was frankly wiped out. But the coming days will be there is rain forecast around the surrounding provinces that could the problem as the flood waters increase rather than reseed. All right. Bringing us the latest there from his vantage point. Many thanks. More than 8 Million People are under flood warnings in the american heart land. Extensive flooding follows a powerful bomb cyclone that slammed the central United States last week. With hurricane like winds. And blizzard conditions. Flood records were shattered in 17 places. And more rivers will likely break cresting records this week. The state of nebraska plans on asking u. S. President trump for federal disaster aid. The flooding is already responsible for at least three deaths. So we turn to meteorologist to get more on this. What are you seeing, how long is this going to last . And how extensive is the impact . Its extensive. This is a multiweek event. The way i have seen this play out. In years past. When it comes to flooding. Unlike whats happening in mozambique. We have significant rainfall and Tropical Cyclone leading to the flooding. This isnt from rainfall. That is not why the flood warnings are in place. From the midwest towards the south. Its all of this is as a result of significant warmth and the temperature department. We have warmth were expecting this to continue over the first week of the spring season. The forecast, look at this. The current snow across the northern tooer of the u. S. Still at 12 to 24 inches. Thats how much snow is on the ground. A lot of this is melting very rapidly. And when you look at how this playing out with the snowfall on the ground melting and rainfall on top of this. As a result of warmer temperatures. The frozen landscape beneat the snow piled up across the regions become essentially a barrier from allowing the water to absorb into the soil. Leading to run off and flooding. The snow and ice that is melting is into the river and streams. Creating ice jams. Blocked by rivers. So the water is also bursting its banks across the communities. In missouri and also the Mississippi River valley have significant flooding in place at this hour. Again, it will take several weeks for the water to melt. Even the areas with 24 inches of snow on the ground. And work into the mississippi and gulf of mexico. With that said, upwards of 300 gauges still expected to report flooding. We know the season is quickly changing with the warm temperatures upon us. In fact wednesday about 6 00 p. M. Eastern daylight time. The spring we have the 12 hour of daylight between the hemispheres and autumn begins in the southern hemisphere. If you dont think thats impressive, look at this out of seattle washington. Monday High Temperature 76 degrees. The warmest single winter day on record just after 12 days removed when they had snowfall in the city. And seattle is coming off of a 21 inch winter worth of snow. Thats about three to four times higher than the average. Impressive run here of whats essential will summer like temperatures in the u. S. Over the next 24 hours. Additional warmth there.
