Happening now, terror threat. New concerns this morning over shoe bombs. Al qaeda and al qaeda in the arabian peninsula. Overseas flights coming into america on alert and on edge. Also, chaos in kiev. Police opening fire on protesters. And new this morning, ukrainian athletes pulling out of the olympics in protest. Plus, whats up with whatsapp. Mark zuckerbergs biggest bet so far. 19 billion for the texting app thats adding a million new users every day. Also, tornado threat. Isolated threat of tornadoes will be out there today. Severe weather outbreak from texas to michigan now marching east. Unseasonably warm air sparking dangerous thunderstorms for millions. Were talking about 37 million of you today under the slight risk. And is that a wolf walking the halls of a sochi hotel . Youre live in the cnn newsroom. Good morning. Im Carol Costello. We begin this morning with a new terror warning rattling nerves and ratcheting up security. The u. S. Is alerting airlines to be on guard for possible shoe bombs on International Flights into the United States. If youve flown within the last decade, american airports already guard against this threat which would be powerful enough to bring down an airliner in flight. But overseas, the screening is often less thorough. Possibly creating an opportunity for terrorists seeking an american target. Barbara starr is live at the pentagon with more. Good morning, barbara. Good morning, carroll. If you are at an airport right now waiting to board a flight you may see additional screening measures from Airport Security personnel. New concern terrorists may target direct flights from overseas heading to the u. S. The department of Homeland Security is warning airlines that terrorists may attempt to hide explosives in shoes, cosmetics and liquids. According to one industry source, the advisory mentioned more than two dozen cities overseas, including johannesburg, paris, london, cairo and some additional cities in the middle east. Dhs warning is nonspecific but the universe of people who have desire and capability is not large. Its al qaeda and al qaeda in the arabian peninsula. Reporter this demonstration shows the potential devastation of a shoe bomb. Sources say intelligence indicates terror groups have been working on a new shoe bomb design. And its not the first time theyve tried to blow up a plane that way. Shortly after 9 11, passengers on an American Airlines flight from paris to miami thwarted Richard Reids attempt to detonate explosives hidden in his sneakers. After that, the tsa started asking everyone in the u. S. To take their shoes off while going through security. This new warning comes just two weeks after u. S. Officials warned airlines terrorists could hide explosives in toothpaste tubes on flights heading to russia ahead of the sochi olympics. Officials say this new threat is unrelated. Of course, we dont know exactly who is behind this new threat, carol, but experts will tell you al qaeda and especially al qaeda operatives in yemen have never given up their ambitions to attack the United States. Barbara starr reporting live from the pentagon. Peter bergen is here now with more on this. Good morning. Good morning. So when barbara says that terrorists are working on a new shoe bomb design, do we know who is working on this design and what it is . Well, the threat from dhs is nonspecific, but the group that has experimented with all sorts of interesting designs for bombs that are hard to detect by conventional means is al qaeda in the arabian peninsula. They built the underwear bomb that failed to detonate on Christmas Day 2009. They built the bombs hidden in printer cartridges and cargo planes bound for the u. S. Luckily discovered in october 2010. And they have a very experienced bombmaker called al asiri who has never been found and is still believed to be out there. May be training other people within the group. And he has proven to be a very capable bombmaker. Hundreds of americans preparing to fly back from the olympics. So i would suppose thats why this warning has gone out. How worried should we be . Well, these warnings happen. Theres no up side for u. S. Government officials if they think they have credible intelligence not to make a public warning because no one wants to testify after an event about why they didnt disseminate this information. Typically we have lots of these warnings and nothing comes of it. The intelligence may be flawed or it may have been incomplete or maybe whatever was being planned was interrupted by the public announcement of this intelligence. Rarely do we find a correlation between a warning of this kind and an lull etent. In ukraine, the death toll climbs and the truce in word only disintegrates. This is exclusive video. You see Ukrainian Forces try to breach the fortress that now encircles the antigovernment protesters. At least 20 People Killed just today. The International Pressure is building on ukraines embattled president victor janukovic. His government backed out of a deal with the European Trade Union and shows closer ties to russia. To much of the world, its president Vladimir Putin playing a dark and menacing role here and resurrecting cold war turf battle between the east and west. Our chief National Security correspondent jim sciutto joins us. Reporter we have new death totals. 100 people have been killed since thursday. 500 injured. And this is this truce dissolved overnight. Were hearing more and more of firearms being used by both sides and this is really a worrisome development. This is how that death toll can rise so quickly and our own reporters on the ground seeing that with their eyes, bloodied bodies, lifeless bodies in the lobby of a hotel there turned into something of a makeshift hospital. Now president obama commented on this yesterday during his trip to mexico. He and other u. S. Officials very much placing the responsibility on the Ukrainian Government. Heres what he had to say. We expect the Ukrainian Government to show restraint, to not resort to violence in dealing with peaceful protesters. For americans to understand why this is important, we have to understand this is a brewing war, civil war arguably, if it gets to that stage, right on europes doorstep. This is not a million miles away. This is right within europe. Its becoming more and more of a battle between east and west. The two sides here, one feels the pull of europe. The other side feels the pull of russia. And russia playing a big part here. Vladimir putin does not want to see the ukraine fall out of a sphere of influence. A lot of accusations of russian involvement on the ground as well. Its a real crisis, and it really is something that americans need to be watching. And its ironic because hundreds of miles to the east is sochi where ukrainian athletes are taking part in the olympics, an event meant to celebrate National Unity and they are getting set to go home to this. Two members of the Ukrainian Ski Team decided to go home. The Olympic Committee has said that they respect ukrainian athletes decisions to choose to go if they want to. We also heard from sergei bupka who spoke to cnn mean was a legendary ukrainian pole vaulter. He said hes urging restraint from both sides. And he said his country in his words is on the brink of catastrophe. One thing were not seeing anymore, some of those ukrainian athletes have been wearing black arm bands to show support for the victims back home. Theyre not doing that anymore. They met with the international Olympic Committee. The Ukrainian Olympic Team and decided there are other ways to show their support. They had a moment of silence in the Olympic Village but certainly, in their eyes turning home to what is a real tragedy going on and not far away from the olympics. Jim sciutto, many thinks. Acton, along with his partner are now newly minted billionaires after facebook paid 19 billion for their messaging service whatsapp. It allows users to send text messages, videos and photos all without paying any pesky fees to your mobile provider. Zane asher is live to tell us more. Good morning. Yes, i think what shocked most people is the price that facebook is willing to pay. 19 billion. The most expensive deal facebook has ever made especially when you compare it to instagram. Only paid 1 billion for instagram. I say only. Also, really, i want to show people why this deal is important. Why is facebook willing to spend this kind of money. Whatsapp is the most popular messaging app for smartphones out there. Its not that big in the u. S. But huge in developing countries and emerging markets because you can actually send these messages over broadband so when you communicate with people in other countries its basically free. So you arent spending money on text messaging fees. But also, for the most part, its free but some users in some markets do end up paying 1 a year. I wanted to show you this chart as well. Take a look at this chart. This sums up why this deal is attractive for facebook. Its grown over the past four or five years. Its only been around four or five years. In the past two or three years, this company has shot up like a rocket adding about 100 million users on average every single year. Currently stands bat 400 million users. This is really about facebook scooping up competition. It wants to maintain dominance in the mobile world. That is important to facebook. But it also wants to expand internationally as well. Those two things are whatsapp has down to a t. Zain asher, thanks. Fighting in Congress Nothing new. Soon our leaders in washington may have a new fight on their hands with us. Theres a new petition from moveon. Org calling on congress to give up their paychecks all 174,000 of it if they do not plan on passing any new laws this year. Last year you might remember they hit a new low passing the fewest laws in modern history. Nearly 30,000 americans think this is a good idea for them to give up their paychecks and have put to paper and signed the petition. And you also remember back in december, cnn orc poll found twothirds said this is the Worst Congress of their lifetime. So will this petition spur congress to action . Ill let you decide that one. Still to come the gap between the 1 and the 99 grows ever wider, the treasury secretary is throwing his hat into the ring in the fight over the minimum wage. He sat down with our Christine Romans for an exclusive tv interview. What else did he say . Hi there. The economy is improving. A decided arc of progress, he said, carol. But we did talk an awful lot about that minimum wage issue. He said even though theres been some thawing in the relationships in washington, get something progress on the farm bill, get something progress on appropriations bill, and the like, raising the debt ceiling, they still have a lot of work to do and hed like to get that minimum wage raised. Its an income justice issue in this country. Thats his view there. You know, i asked him specifically about something that one of his predecessors has been writing about. Larry summers has been writing about how the u. S. Economy is becoming a Downton Abbey economy. Think of that. Where you have the super rich, the top 1 who have so much of the power and money in the country and everyone else who works for them or everyone else at the bottom of the rung. I asked him, are we at risk of becoming a Downton Abbey economy. Heres what he said, carol. I dont think we have to be. I mean, i think its more of a prediction than it is an assessment. And i think if you do the right things, we can create opportunity. One thing about American People generally is if they are doing well, they dont begrudge other people doing well. They want a chance to have a job and we can solve that problem. We can solve that problem by training and investment in the right kinds of education. He said, carol, this income inequality problem in this country youll not fix in one year whats taken some 30 years to kind of develop here. I mean he is concerned about it but keeps going back to this idea of training the right kinds of skills, community colleges. He points out there are 3 million job openings in the country right now. A judge has ruled nebraskas governor has no right to seize private land to build the pipeline. That means the Keystone Pipelines progress has come to a screeching halt because 200 miles of that proposed pipeline is supposed to run from canada through nebraska, to the gulf of mexico. Many republicans are bound to be upset by this ruling because they say the Keystone Pipeline would create thousands of jobs and oil independence. With me now randy thomas, one of the land owners who filed suit to keep the Keystone Pipeline from running through his ranch. Welcome. Thank you. Thanks for having me on. Im glad youre with us this morning. Are you feeling victorious . Well, i guess in a tempered fashion, we are. We realize that, you know, this is only the first step. But its a huge step for the citizens of nebraska, what happened yesterday. You are a cattle buyer, a rancher. Your family settled in nebraska in the 1880s. Tell us what the land means to you. Well, i think with most nebraskans, we have a long history of our families being in this country and, you know, we realized what it took for our parents and our great grandparents and our entire family, what they went through with the depression and all those tough years. And how hard they worked to establish themselves. And then to have a Foreign Corporation just come along and arrogantly tell us that they are going to take our land away from us and theres nothing we can do about it, that hasnt really gone down too well with most folks out here. You have very much become the face of this fight in nebraska. You protested in washington, d. C. , alongside Robert Kennedy jr. And the actress daryl hannah. You got arrested along with them. You dont seem to be the stereotypical tree hugger. What would you say to those who accuse you of costing america jobs . Well, you know if you look at the job situation, really, i dont want anybody to be out of work, but realistically, were looking at a couple of thousand temporary jobs which will be gone within a couple of years. And then were looking at a sum total of 35 permanent jobs that this pipeline would create in the entire United States. And i would just say that our local Grocery Store would employ more people than that on a permanent basis. So, really, the jobs thing is its smoke and screen as far as were concerned. Of course, many people would disagree with you. Is there any compromise . Is there any place in nebraska or any land owner in nebraska that would feel comfortable with that pipeline running through that state . Well, i dont speak for every nebraskan for sure. Im sure theres land owners that are in favor of it. And thats definitely their privilege. But theres a whole lot of us that are not in favor of it and we definitely do not feel a Foreign Corporation should be able to have the power of imminent domain to condemn our property as american citizens and the lb1161 actually gave the power of Eminent Domain to transcanada before they even had a permit to build the project in the United States. And we think that is a ridiculous idea. Its outrageous. Well, im sure there will be an appeal to this ruling so your fight will go on, right . Oh, no doubt. Yes, it will. But i do believe yes . Go ahead. Finish your thought. I was going to say, no doubt it will. Im quite confident when the final bell rings, the citizens of nebraska will be the ones left standing. Randi thompson, thanks so much for taking the time. I appreciate it. Thank you. Hes been in Congress Less than 14 months but ted cruz has stolen the capitol hill spot light with very public fights against obamacare and raising the debt ceiling. Those tactics have sparked backlash not just from democrats but also from cruzs fellow republicans. Cruz spoke exclusively to cnn chief Congressional Correspondent dana bash about that fallout. What he thinks is wrong with washington today. I did not think it was possible to hear your leagues, your republican colleagues angrier at you than they were after the government shutdown. But i actually think youve topped it. That they are really, really upset with you. That you tried to stop the debt ceiling with a filibuster and forced your colleagues to take really, really tough votes that you knew would be tough for them. Well, you know, its interesting. I think last week actually is a perfect illustration of everything thats wrong with washington. Republican leadership said, we want this to pass. But if every senator affirmatively consents to doing it on 51 votes, then we can all cast a vote no and we can go home to our constituents and say we opposed it. And, listen, that sort of show vote, that sort of trickery to the constituents is why congress has a 13 approval rating. You are talking about republican leadership. Uhhuh. One of the people you are talking about is your senior senator in your party who happens to be the number two republican in the senate, john cornyn who voted to try to stop your filibuster. Is he trying to fool texas voters . Listen, i like john cornyn. Hes a friend of mine. He and i have agreed on a vast majority of issues. I disagreed with him on this. Part of the eyebrow raising criticism of this particular filibuster is that it wasnt the kind of filibuster that you did over the shutdown. You werent out there 21 hours saying green eggs and ham, reciting that. You didnt give a speech at all. You were in the corner on the floor at your seat and just watching the chaos quietly. It wasnt even sort of a real filibuster. If you wanted to really block it, why didnt you talk about it . As i said at the outset is i am not going to affirmatively consent to giving harry reid the authority to do this because its irresponsible. Its selling our nations future down the road. And, you know, you go back to those senate lunches. I wont identify anything but ill tell you several people raised a question just like you did there. Why are you trying to throw five republicans under the bus and make them vote for raising the debt ceiling . And ill tell you my response. I dont want to throw any republicans under the bus. Id like to see all 45 republicans stand together and actually do what we tell our constituents. The wall street journal called you the minoritymaker. And the idea there is, this is really what this is all what its all about is that you force republicans to take votes that could hurt them in their races and could put the Republican Party in the minority again. Do now not want to be in the majority . Whats more important. Being in the minority or party purity. The way we lose is not standing for anything. On a human level, i know that you are in washington fighting for the grassroots, but you are a human being and you are sitting with people around you who, i would think that you have some respect for. Fellow senators in your own party. Theyll be so mad at you. Whats that like . Oh, listen, what i try to keep an eye on, is that i dont work for the party bosses in washington. I work for 26 million texans. But you are a human being. Does it sting . As a human being, i cant control what they say, how they behave. I can control what i do. So every interaction that i have with every senator, republican or democrat is consistently civil, courteous, respectful, treating them with the dignity they deserve. Carol, this is the third time ive come down to texes too interview senator cruz since hes been in the senate, which, as you said before the piece is a little more than a year. And each time its really struck me how much support he has here from the grassroots, from his supporters who did send him to texas for the kind of take no prisoners make no compromise position he has taken, especially even when he took last week. Dana bash, thanks so much. I want to bring in larry, the director of the university of Virginia Center for politics. Hi, larry. Hey, carol. Hi. So despite what dana says, and i know ted cruz has a lot of grassroots support because you just heard dana say it, but i will add this. Thomas sole, a tea party intellectual wrote this in a recent column. Quote, senator ted cruz has not yet reached the point where he can make policy rather than just make political trouble. He goes on to say, but there are already disquieting signs that he is looking out for ted cruz even if that sets back the causes he claims to be serving. Do other Tea Party Leaders feel that way and were just not hearing it . The leaders may feel that way, carol, but to understand ted cruz, you have to focus on what dana mentioned. He has that president ial glean in his eye. Just look where hes been. Hes been to iowa more than once, new hampshire, south carolina. Shortly hes going to florida. What do those states have in common . They are early primary and caucus states. And believe me, this is playing very well with the grassroots, with the base, especially in the first contest in iowa where you have a very conservative republican grassroots. So lets say he makes it into the primary. If he doesnt have a wider base, hes not going to make it out. Well, you know, you can get a nomination with a smaller base depending on who is running and how many ways the vote is actually split. You know, ted cruz strikes me as somebody who is willing to endure the brick bats being thrown by his colleagues. And by the way, we finally have somebody in the senate who has brought everybody together. Both the democrats and the republicans dislike him. So in that sense, hes a unifying force. But on the whole, i think hes he sees himself as a shorttermer in the senate. He wants to run for president. He says, well, i will have been in the senate for four years. Thats exactly the same amount of time barack obama was in the senate before he was elected president. Larry, thanks for your insight this morning. I appreciate it. Thank you carol. Dunn claims selfdefense for killing jordan davis in a dispute over loud music. On saturday, jury deadlocked on that firstdegree murder charge but they did convict dunn on three counts of attempted seconddegree murder. Hell likely spend the rest of his life in jail. Well, in an exclusive interview with new days chris cuomo, corey reveals her thoughts not only about dunn but about George Zimmerman as well. Heres what she had to say. What was your reaction to the dunn verdict . Our reaction is we are grateful for the four guilty verdicts and we are happy to go back into court and retry count one after we sit down with our victims family, with jordan davis family and make sure that they can withstand another trial. And the purpose of retrying count one is to make sure nat any little thing got said or done in the fourcount case where we did have final verdicts of guilt, that if that case were to get reversed for a jury instruction or for something a witness said or something we did, then we would have that extra count on which to rely to make sure michael dunn never gets out of jail. Thats why you want to retry it as quickly as possible. I understand that. Do you understand how they were able, the jury, to arrive at a conclusion that is sophisticated, which is to punish him because of the second volley of shots where he missed but not to punish him for the shot where he killed somebody . Well, chris, the way i understand it from listening to one of our jurors is that three people did not believe they could come to a guilty verdict on any charge. Nine people did. And so thats very encouraging to us as prosecutors. But, yes, you are right. Its a very sophisticated verdict that focused on the physical evidence as we presented it. So to the people who are acting like this is the end of the world on this case, i invite you to watch the sentencing thats coming up to see just how accountable this jury has held michael dunn so far. When you were strategizing how to prosecutor the dunn case, did you carry with you any lessons from the zimmerman case . Not at all. All our cases get prepared the same way and im proud not only of the effort we made in court but the effort all my lawyers make. How anyone could be unhappy with these verdicts knowing we intend to retry count one is beyond me but were going to keep going into the courtroom and fighting for justice for our victims without regard to what people are saying even though what they are saying is completely uninformed and ill informed. When you hear George Zimmerman calling himself a victim, what do you think . Well, chris, what i think is that there was one victim in that case and that was trayvon martin. He was legally the victim and he was factually the victim. Its a little disconcerting to hear that anyone else would be laying claim to that title. What does it say to you that George Zimmerman sees himself that way . I think that theres been so much in the media about George Zimmerman and so many people supporting him for what i believe arent the correct reasons. But weve never really experienced anything like the division in this country over the supporters between George Zimmerman and trayvon martin. It was quite unique to our realm of prosecution experience. Do you have any concerns as a public official that your job is on the line with these types of cases and zimmerman not going the right way, dunn not going the right way in many peoples minds . Does it make you worry about your job . First of all, dunn has gone the right way. Were fourfifths of the way there. Those that want to criticize me are going to do that no matter what. My job is not on the line because good people understand what were doing here and appreciate our hard work. Angela corey, thank you for taking the opportunity. Thank you, chris. We appreciate the opportunity to talk to your viewers. Michael dunn faces at least 60 years in prison. Hell be back in court next month. Thank you for being with me. We begin in ukraine where the death toll skyrockets and the word truce disintegrates. This is exclusive video. You see Ukrainian Forces try to breech the barrier between the protestors. Today has been the bloodiest yet. 100 killed and much of the world putting the em battlinged preside em battled president on notice. We expect to not deal with violence in dealing with peaceful protestors. Many say much of the blame lies with russia and the president. Vladimir putin basks in the glow of the sochi olympics. 600 miles away, deeper violence. The world wonders if it can pbak from the brink. Joining me now, christopher hill. Welcome. Thank you. Supposedly ukraines president is going to sit down with protest leaders. Do you think it will actually happen. Your know, it may happen. The concern is its too little too late. Protests have been joined by all kinds of different protestors including many people not affiliated with these opposition parties. This is huge stakes right now. Ukraine is an important country with resources. Without ukraine, russia is russia. Without ukraine, russia is the soviet union. This is big high stakes g o political gain here. President barack obama has spoken out. Why hasnt president putin or have we just not heard . He did and were not hearing about it . His government has been consistent in the support. Frankly putin started this whole dance when he announced if ukraine signed the associate deal with the your european union, he would cut off trade. It was 15 billion worth of trade. Thats why the president made the faithful decision to go back on the deal. That brought people on the streets. Frankly, i dont think its going to end any time soon. What more can the United States do is this. We need to be diplomatically engaged. We need to be engaged with russians as tough as that is. Im not sanctions are a necessary required element if you will, are going to be sufficient in and of itself. Eu will have similar type sanctions, that is banning the leaders of ukraine from traveling to the United States. Believe me, traveling to the United States is the last thing on their minds now. Are these live pictures youre showing us now . Protestors remain in the street. Theres smoke which usually means tear a gas. Will this turn into a full out civil war . I mean, the concern about ukraine has always been the fact the country is kind of split down the middle. Northwest you have a very Ukrainian National. In the southeast you have a ukraine that wants to be closer to russia. This is split down the middle, not easy to figure out how theyre going to get through this. People in south eastern crew yan including the historic a ton mouse region, part of ukraine, historic to russians, theres no rebellion going on there. So, you know, the question will be the question has always been during ukraines 20 years of existence whether at this time can hold together. Thats very much the issue now. Ambassador hill, thanks for your insight. I appreciate it. Lets talk about venezuela where at least five more have been killed in antigovernment clashes there. The Opposition Leader has been thrown into jail. Venezuela president is vow toogo crack down on protestors. Protestors are fighting back. Demand is rise o rising. Theyre calling for end of rise in crime and end of shortage of goods. Theres a terror warning rattling nerves and security. State and federal investigators are investigating. Is the water in West Virginia safe or not . Its been more than a month since the do not drink ban was lifted for 300,000 people. Water had been contaminated by a chemical leak. Theres e6d when people started drinking the water okay to drink, visits to the emergency room skyrocketed. Remember how this went down. January 9th the Chemical Spill was detected. Ten days later, officials lifted the ban for everyone. Two and a half weeks later, cdc said the water was acceptable for all uses. The next day several high schools closed because the water still smelled like the licorice, the chemical in the water. Then symptoms after drinking the water like nausea and headaches may not be from the chemicals. Today Health Officials are still refusing to drink the tap water. Elizabeth cohen has more for you. Officially this water is supposed to be just fine, but look what this woman says happened to her when she washed her face. When this boy bathed. And when this mans wife takes a shower. Within a couple minutes ill have a headache. Theyre not alone. Officials instituted a water ban about a week then lifted it saying the chemical was at very low levels. New data from West Virginia shows when people started drinking and bathing again, visits to doctors offices and Emergency Rooms shot up with people saying the water made them sick. Even the county Health Department they posted these sign, dont drink the water. This is the county Health Department. Should you be saying the water is okay to drink if official agencies are saying its okay . Official agencies are saying its okay but not saying its safe to drink. Its important to make that distinction. Weve got to make sure the water is safe. Thats really the word here. People are looking for that word. Indeed. The word safe is nowhere in the official guidance for the centers for disease control. Cdc said based on animal study, they said the chemicals a person could likely ingest without Adverse Health effects. Thats not good enough for this doctor. Hes avoiding tap water. The doctor says in some places like his house, you can still smell the chemical, it hasnt disappeared. Is your wife drinking the tap water . Shes not. This week the governor of West Virginia asked the cdc to do more testing. They have not continued Monitoring Health problems there. It seems to be over from a lot of peoples perspective at state and federal levels. On the ground when we talk to people, its not over. Theyre continuing to suffer with issues. With no studies with the effects of the chemical on humans, many are not taking the chance. Water is officially fine to drink from the tap. Our senior medical core spontaneo correspondent. They do not feel its safe to drink the water. When here and talk to people you hear how disconcerning it is to have doubts about your water. Officially its supposed to be useable. When you dont hear the word safe come out of Health Officials mouth, theyre careful to use that word. You can smell the nauseating licorice smell. It makes you uneasy. People are warming up you bottled water to bathe their children. Thats how unsure they are even though officially its supposed to be okay. The last time we heard from Freedom Industries t Company Responsible for this spill, who could forget this. Lets listen. Its been an extremely long day. Im having trouble talking at the moment. I would appreciate it if we could wrap this thing up. We actually have a lot of questions. Its been a long day for a lot of people that dont have water. At this moment in time, i think thats all we have time for. Thanks for coming. Whoa whoa. Hey, hey. Were not done. Were done. Anyone else have questions . As he takes a sip from his bottled water. Where is this guy . Where is he . Carol, there are so many legal issues on so many fronts. For instance, tomorrow theres going to be a hearing in Bankruptcy Court because they did file bankruptcy following all of this. I called several times their bankruptcy attorney located in pennsylvania. He has not returned my call. The hearing tomorrow will be in federal court in West Virginia. I was able to get documents from a charleston, West Virginia site that a newspaper site, that has posted documents. It looks like mundane issues that the defense, meaning the debter in this case, wants to retain civil consultants without legal court. They want to get their own consultants. There will be argument on issues of establishing this bankruptcy case. Lets not forget the criminal investigation. Im also continuing to monitor that with the u. S. Attorneys office. It is continuing. Thats going to be the huge one carol. Will there be criminal charges filed against the individuals of Freedom Industries because of this, the clean water act . Now theyre conducting interviews, getting subpoenas to have searches done on the property. Well see what happens there. Its kind of disturbing Freedom Industries declared bankruptcy, right . Whos footing the bill for this cleanup. Its the state of West Virginia right . And maybe federal officials for all i know. Right . That angers the people. They say we can have no responsibility because we have so many debts. We cannot pay the debts we have more or less the ones that will be coming. Im not surprised. Your initial question was why havent we heard from gary . Im not surprised. Facing multiple charges, one civil suit. One civil suit in federal court i understand. But it looks like maybe we should ask your doctor about pradaxa. In a clinical trial, pradaxa® Dabigatran Etexilate mesylate . Was proven superior to warfarin at reducing the risk of stroke. And unlike warfarin, with no regular blood tests or dietary restrictions. Hey thanks for calling my doctor. Sure. Pradaxa is not for people with artificial heart valves. Dont stop taking pradaxa without talking to your doctor. Stopping increases your risk of stroke. Ask your doctor if you need to stop pradaxa before surgery or a medical or dental procedure. Pradaxa can cause serious, sometimes fatal, bleeding. Dont take pradaxa if you have abnormal bleeding or have had a heart valve replaced. Seek immediate medical care for unexpected signs of bleeding, like unusual bruising. Pradaxa may increase your bleeding risk if youre 75 or older, have a bleeding condition or stomach ulcer, take aspirin, nsaids, or blood thinners. Or if you have kidney problems, especially if you take certain medicines. Tell your doctors about all medicines you take. Pradaxa side effects include indigestion, stomach pain, upset, or burning. Earlier this year, Mike Huckabee bee said republicans dont have a war on women, they have a war for women to empower them to be something other than victims. Welcome sir. Thank you very much. Im delighted and pleased to be with you. I am too. Tell us about the event and why such an event is necessary in 2014. It is Still Necessary to get women to where they should be. It is true that when women succeed, america succeeds. Women in america and in georgia have been left out and left behind. For every dollar a man earned, a woman only earned about 77 cents. Thats not right. Thats not fair. Weve heard from many women today telling their story, powerful stories. Too many women are receiving what i call starvation wages. They work from sun up to sun down with very low pay. Weve got to do much better. They have child care, taking care of elderly parents definitely when its comes to child care. I was going to ask you, is there legislation pending that might help solve the problems . We have legislation pending in committees. A member of the senate and member of the house on a democratic side have introduced legislation, comprehensive legislation to provide for child care. Child care is necessary if you expect mothers and women to work. Somebody got to help take care of the little children. I have to ask you about this. It wasnt long ago that rand paul struck back against the idea republicans are declaring a war on women. He said on the cnn state of the union well listen for yourself. Id like you to comment. The whole thing war on women, i laugh. They say there might have been. The women are winning. I think the victimology and all this other stuff is trumped up. Were playing a she raid one party does not care about women or women advancing. Do you think republicans care about women . Well, the great number of republican members of the house and the senate voted against equal pay for women. The democrats in the house and the senate supported it. The first bill that president barack obama signed was equal pay for women. It was called a led better act. The Woman Working in the state of alabama, the case went to the United States supreme court. She was doing the same work as men but not earning the same pay. Thats not right, not fair, not just. So are you saying that republicans dont care about women . I just happen to believe that we all should care about women. Without women, without our mothers and grandmothers, we wouldnt be around. Senator paul also went on to criticize democrats for supporting bill clinton who he says has exhibited creditory behavior. Can you respond to that . I think on the part of the senator, that is a very cheap shot and will not play. We fought that battle years ago. The people are not concerned about what bill clinton did more than 20 years ago. Thank you so much for being with me this morning. Congress john lewis. Thank you so much for having me. Thank you. As the olympics are taking place in sochi, Vladimir Putins security guards are not putting up with anything. This is rather disturbing video just came into us. These are the southern russian militia beeti inin ining bea members of the punk band. Ivan watson has more for you. The russian punk band pussy riot strikes back. The members of the group say theyre not afraid right now of being detained or beaten. Theyre tired, exhausted of the pressure theyve faced. Now theyre going to try to meet with members of the press and talk about the debut of their new video. The video uses footage of Russian Security forces detaining and flogging band members this week in sochi. The song denounces the russian president Vladimir Putin for his governments crack down on free speech and media. This has been a pretty bizarre event where youve had the members of pussy riot met not only large numbers of plain clothed Security Officers but also supporters of the sochi olympics carrying raw chickens and repeating the chant, we like sex with chickens. We like sex with chickens. We like sex with chickens. These are university students. One of their aurrguments is lif is so good in sochi now, theres no need to protest. The pussy riot members have warned that theyre worried about what will happen to human rights activists after the International Attention is lifted from russia. Could they potentially face more repression in the future . Its something they and other activists weve talked to from other fields are clearly worried about. And carol, the women from pussy riot told me they were making this video to try to bring attention to the treatment they say human activists and critics of the russian government that they face everyday. Their song can be funny. They point fun at the 50 billion price tag that the olympics have had. Also at those famous double toilet bathrooms that have been built here for these olympic games. For that theyre being flogged. Thats courageous young women. Athletes are competing while next door violence rages on from their home country. What are we hearing from athletes . The leader of the ukrainian Olympic Committee says this is a difficult decision. All athletes and coaches, everybody in the Olympic Committee are really calling for unity now. Theyre heartbroken by this bloodshed back in their native country. Theyre trying to bring back more medals as a sign of unity in a time when their country is so tragically divided. The guys behind the deal have an interesting story. Thats the fascinating part. Yan immigrated when he was a teenager, literally living off food stamps. He went to work for yahoo. We have year over year growth. Eight straight quarters of growth. We feel strongly its going to have a return many times over. Other people say retail jobs are just starter jobs and you work there for a year or two and then you leave for higher paying jobs. Is that how you see your employees . You know, we have a variety of employees. A lot of people work for the discount regardless of where else they work.
