Chad myers joins us now from the cnn Weather Center and just seconds ago we got a new advisory from the National Hurricane center. How big is this storm and wheres it going . Its 40 mile per hour right now. That means it is Tropical Storm arthur. It was tropical depression number one for a while. The storm to the northeast of miami right about there making onshore waves across the east coast. Because the storm is going to stay off shore for most of its life, that will be the main threat. This rip current activity all the way up and count down the east coast that will take people as they are trying to swim in this water this week and this weekend will rip them out into the ocean. I need you to wear a life jacket. You got a lot of red flags up and down the east coast, a lot of life guards saying stay out of this water. Its forecast to become a hurricane, but still a hurricane right off the shore in Cape Hatteras in north carolina. As it tracks up the east coast, these waves are going to be charleston, wilmington, myrtle, right into the outer banks. Its going to make its closest approach 80 miles an hour. Guess when . Friday july 4th, around 8 a. M. Right there is going to make its closest approach to the u. S. Were going to make these waves for all the east coast beaches. Think about the millions, probably tens of millions of people that will be up and down this east coast this week. So please be careful out there. John, michaela back to you. Flooding is going to be a concern when you have that amount of water and storm surge coming our way. But talk about the track of it. Are we looking at this sticking around through the weekend . No, this really accelerates. By the Time Thursday and friday morning come in, this thing is doing 25 mile per hour. Its going to be hall i fax and nova scotia. Its on a roll. Airports. Officials say they have intelligence that al qaeda off shoots is developing a new kind of bomb, a bomb that cannot be detected at airport screening machines. They are implementing new security measures for our safety. We want to emphasize there is no immediate threat. We want to discuss it. No imminent threat right now but we know we have to stay a step ahead of the bad guys. How concerned are you about this new technology they have been innovating for a while . They have been watching this for five or six months, whats happening is the combination of two factors, kind of a bombmaking faction of al qaeda but combining with a group that has access to passports and the ability to transmit people back and forth. Thats really the concern. If you have it overseas, develop a new bomb and cant deliver it, nobody cares. Now the combination is both. They say they are using technology that cannot be detected. What does that mean . It means that we have magnato meters currently at our airports that are designed to pick up met yals, if you use a peroxidebased weapon, you cant pick that up. Keep in mind that my preference is always going to be to work with congress and to actually get legislation done. That could boost our economy enormously and now is the time to do it, but that requires congressional action. And so were always going to prefer working on a bipartisan basis to get things done. Thats what folks expect out of washington. They are not looking for excuses and they are not looking for a lot of partisan sniping, but if congress is unable to do it, then all of our cabinet members, head of big agencies that touch peoples lives in all sorts of way and im going to continue to look for ways in which we can show some Real Progress. Thats president obama right there from a little bit earlier Cabinet Meeting talking about his statement yesterday that he intends to do some things on the immigration issue with or without congress. We will talk about that in the controversial aspects of it ahead in a a little bit. Right now, a nice of violence gives way to a day of grieving at this hours. Tens of thousands of israels are attending the funerals of three teenagers. They will be buried side by side. The Prime Minister netanyahu is set to give the ewe yoling. Hes vowed vengeance against the killers. The people in israel, they held out hope for 18 days that these teenagers might be found alive, brought home. This is not the return they prayed for. No, this is a very sad outcome and we heard that grief from the families today at the service of natali franco. His father said the teenagers touched the very soul of our people. Thousands have come out for the funeral today. Its very much a nation unit nighted in grief at this point. Theres already been some retaliation, air strikes in gaza. We havent heard yet from the government what steps it intends to take next. So hamas has denied involvement. What are we hearing about in terms of any group taking responsibility for this act of violence . Yeah. Its interesting, you know, hamas is not a group that shies away from climbing claiming responsibility, but in this case it says its not responsible, even though it praise ds the abduction of the teenagers. We havent had a credible claim here. One small group claimed responsibility but it doesnt hold much water at this point so this explains partly why the Israeli Government still needs another Cabinet Meeting is to decide what to do next. Its not clear whether it was ordered by hamas or whether this was an opportunistic crime that took place. Whats really clear is that the government has taken some steps, dozen of air strikes against hamas facilities. There were clashes and a 16yearold was killed over night. Extraordinary sadness and scrood extraordinary tension in that region right now now. Ahead for us this hour. U. S. Is now adding again reinforcements to the region in iraq. train horn vo wherever our trains go, the economy comes to life. Norfolk southern. One line, infinite possibilities. Important developments in the crisis in iraq. Some 300 odd american troops being deployed to that warn torn country, this is an additional deployment as islamic militants advance toward baghdad. The new troops will provide security to the u. S. Embassy. These are separate from the 300 military advisers that president obama authorized less than two weeks ago. We want to bring in our military analyst, retired Lieutenant Colonel rick francona. I remember you taught me this phrase. Mission creep. Is that what were seeing here . I hope not. I see what they are trying to do here. It make perfect sense. If the embassy needs to be evacuated, if the American Contractors need to be evacuated and other american citizens and there are houses of them in iraq, they are going to need to be out of the airport. You have to security the airport and the road. These advisers are not going to be able to do. You are going to need a helicopter battalion and people to man those helicopters and provide security. I would be surprised if they dont send more people to secure it. They are waiting, they say, for some kind of political solution there. Thats what the u. S. Really wants to see. They are waiting for that, but the Iraqi Parliament today, they need to form a new government. They met. They took a break and then the sunnis and kurds wouldnt come back. I dont know if this is a political ploy to delay that, but the kurds and the sunnis feel like they are not going to be represented, why take part in what they believe to be a farce . I was going to say sham but thats a difference youve been watching tikrit. Youve picked it up for us and put it on our radar. You are indicative of what could happen to the rest of iraq. Tikrit, the city isnt the key, the key is the performance of the iraqi army. I hope were watching what they are doing. They have got all the tools they need. They got the helicopter, gunships, and art tillry. If they cannot dislodge militants from it, no matter what the tools they have, its not going to be enough. Its frankly at this point its difficult to tell, that the iraqis claim they have dislodged the militants, it turns out not to be true. We cant tell what the truth is. The death toll is rising, 1,500 civilians, its hard to tell whats coming out of there. Hes shifting resources to the border and hes trying to find steps he can take without congressional approval. It seems to me that were at such an impasse, something has got to give. Unfortunately, in terms of a political solution, a legislative solution passed by the congress and signed by the president seems to be a hope too far. There was a legitimate group of house members who really wanted to get this done and they were working on it behind the scenes. Their plan was to bring it to fruition for a vote in july or august, but right before the august recess. That was the hope, the plan and you notice the president in his communications as we he went around the country to spoke, never called upon the house to pass Immigration Reform. He knew they were working on and they needed their space. With cantors loss, it seems this is out of reach. The president says hes going to go it alone. The problem theres not enough he can do alone. The executive powers are rimtd to be sure. John, i had spoken to a Senior Administration official as recently as three weeks ago they were still optimistic they were going to get something with congress. I was shocked frankly. They have waited a year to let these negotiations play out. Is this wasted time . Do you think they regret these efforts now . No. I think as margaret pointed out, the loss of eric cantor was a shock to everybody and he had been one of those folks in Republican Leadership who had been quietly behind the scenes trying to say that leadership would support some kind of immigration bill to match the senates effort which Lindsey Graham had helped champion. That loss so blind sided the republicans, the lesson they took Immigration Reform made eric cantor vulnerable to the tea party. They are willing to blame the president for lack of leadership on the issue, which, of course, just an absurd hes blaming them too, lets be fair. I want to ask you i actually think in this case go ahead. Come on, push back. President bush tried to pass this. He got attacked by the talk radio crowd. President obama has backed it. Weve reform republicans have tried to do this because its the right thing to do. They are terrified of the far far right on this issue. Youve got a minorityminority controlling american policy. Looking ahead to mid terms elections, how did that play out there . Or how does it impact Immigration Reform . Is it dead in the water . I think it is dead in the water right now. I dont think its not going to happen. What its going to do, democrats will point to a do Nothing Congress as will the president. Theres a lot of point to there in terms of that having some credence. The house has been a bit obstructionist with some of these policies. This influx of thousands of children on the border there is a bill that would help both sides. The way the law works now, if you come from a contiguous country to the border, mexico or canada, if you are a child, you can be sent home in 48 hours, but you are not from guatemala, el salvador, where most of these kids are from, these are there are different protocols. If they passed a law that said apply the same laws as contiguous countries. Nothing it going to get done. Look in your crystal ball and tell me when the president s advisers come back at the end of summer and give him some ideas for executive actions, when he take these executive actions, tell me what the republicans are going to say. Well, they will probably add it to their list of offenses that they are going to try to bring to court against the president. This is sort of a dare in some effect. It does play into the democrats hands. Where does the country go . Boehner says this isnt going to get done until we have a new president of the United States. Somebody said right here on our program, when you have children at stake, it seems very unamerican to leave these kids sort of wasting away in the situation they are currently in. Got to fix it. Theres the entrance. It was a new beginning. Light colors. Hi, you like all this big room here. For them to be able to run and play outside, it was perfect. By february 15th, 2010, that once perfect house, was now shrouded in mystery. The mcstay family was still missing and so was their truck. Detectives send out a be on the look out, bolo. What did they discover . They get a hit on the truck. Its been impounded from a Shopping Mall near the mexican border. Detectives say that four days after the mcstays disappeared, their white trooper was park and subsequently towed from a parking lot steps away from the mexican border. There was nothing in that car to indicate that anything that bad had happened. Reporter no apparent foul play. Investigators and loved ones had to consider the possibility, did the mcstays park their car at the border and then vanish into mexico . In my mind, we started shifting gears. Okay, they are in cabo or in mexico. Ij thought well maybe they took off. Reporter it still wasnt adding up. Summer was afraid of mexico. Would summer take her two children in there . Heck no. Reporter but the truck wasnt the only evidence leading investigators south of the border. Soon after they found the isuzu, detectives found another clue. A search on the mcstays home computer from a week before they disappeared. Somebody at the mcstay home had searched for getting passports to mexico. Randy kay joins us live now. It is such a disturbing story. It frightens so many people in southern california. They were worried about them for some time and the devastating news they didnt make it. Why are they so convinced that they left the house in a hurry . Well, theres evidence of it. There were eggs as if they were in the middle of making dinner. They left at 7 45 p. M. On that night, february 4th, four year ago and there were eggs on the counter. There was popcorn in bowls sitting in front of the television on the futon. Their dogs were still tied up outback, who would do that unless they got out of there in a hurry and the problem is the San Diego Sheriffs Department which handled this initially didnt go into the home with a search warrant until 15 days after they disappeared because they were treating as maybe they left voluntarily. They thought maybe they went to mexico given all that evidence. They didnt they needed to go to the home. They didnt consider that a crime scene. And in all that time, joseph mcstay, the husband in this case, his mom went in there, with his brother michael, and they cleaned up the counters, threw out the dirty diapers and who know what type of evidence might have been lost and someone else may have been in the home and taken them out in the trooper that night. This is an incredible report you have. Compelling, tragic. Whats the status of the investigation . Are there any suspects at this point . Nobody. Thats the incredible story about. The San Bernardino is now investigating. They have a new detective poring over thousands of documents, theres so many holes in that case, so many missed opportunities, one hour after they disappeared, the phone rang and it showed up on the caller i. D. As joseph mcstay, so we dont know if it was joseph calling, if he was really calling for help, if he was trying to give him an indicator and find out it was, maybe it was the people who took them dialing the number on the phone what was going on. Now hes living with that regret now all these years later. Randomid, dsh randi this is a compelling case. There has been a lot of discussion whether vaccines are safe for children especially among a vocal minority of parents. Childhood vaccines are indeed safe and not vaccinating children can be deadly. Michaela, this was an exhaustive review. They look at 67 studies done over the past few years over the safety of vaccines and the conclusions shouldnt surprise anyone. Vaccines are safe. Now are they without side effects . Absolutely not. They can have side effects. They can in extremely rare circumstances have very bad side effects like seizures or pneumonia or allergic reactions. Again, the study is very clear, vaccines are safe and they do a world of good. You know, elizabeth, theres so much passion on this subject. Frankly, so much politics involved too. We need to focus on the science here and what were seeing is whooping cough outbreaks in california, were seeing measles we havent seen in a long, long time. Is the lack of vaccination, is that leading to some these outbreaks . The lack of vaccination is the reason for some of these outbreaks. Measles outbreaks. Huge numbers. Havent seen numbers like this for years. It started because a group of folks from the Amish Community who dont believe in vaccinations went to the philippines to do relief work. Whats rampant in the philippines . Missiles. You have unvaccinated people going to an area where theres a ton of measles. Some of these folks came back with measles and spread it to people in the community and even beyond their community. Not getting vaccinated doesnt just hurt yourself, it also hurts other people. Heres the question, you talked about how politicized this has been. How much controversy. You even intimated theres a Certain Group of people who wont listen to this. Ive long since struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight. I stead of responding to hurtful comments with compassion, i lashed out in anger. Im not asking for sympathy, but, rather, understanding and forgiveness. I can say with certainty that i am taking a deep look at myself and im incredibly sorry to everyone ive hurt. You know, you mentioned something, he has worked really hard, he has faced a lot of kind of teasing beforehand when he was overweight. And now kind of some bash lackl when hes lost the weight. Maybe thats something inside of him, we see that a lot with people struggling with their weight, something inside that brings that up. Maybe social media is not the place or you have to decide just to ignore. I was going to say, maybe social medias not the place for him while hes going through this transformation and dealing with some of these issues coming up.
