During this election process, this campaign process. He has fought with Donald Trumps campaign very openly. They fought with him. They tried to calm things down. They said the Republican National committee was cooking the books, they were not fair to him, and conversely, he has also been criticized by nontrump loving republicans for being too nice to donald trump, for being too accepting. He is somebody who is trying to, has been trying to push donald trump more to the mainstream in his rhetoric, being more inclusive. Remember, Reince Priebus is the one had made sure there was that socalled autopsy after the 2012 electoral defeat of mitt romney and the autopsy, if you read it, said a bunch of things donald trump clearly has not spent much time taking very seriously outreach to latinos, being more inclusive in language, being warmer, being more positive and donald trump got here doing it his way, not the Republican National committee way. Reince priebus has been in a very tough spot. Earlier trump said the system was rigged. He has strong words against the rnc. Now by all accounts the relationship between donald trump and Reince Priebus who is about to speak is excellent. They speak several times a day. Lets listen in. Reince priebus, chairman of the Republican National committee. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. To the people of cleveland, we say thank you for your hospitality. And to my wife, sally and my son, jack, and daughter grace, i love you, thank you for everything you do for me. I stand before this convention tonight as the chairman of a party that is carrying the torch of liberty. We are the party of the open door. To some people and some president s, america is just another country. To republicans, america is the greatest nation on earth. We dont apologize for america. We celebrate america at every level. Republicans stand for aspiration and achievement. We stand for peace and prosperity. We stand for freedom and fairness. These values have inspired people the world over, ever since we won our freedom two centuries ago. These values fueled the sacrifices for freedom at gettysburg and nor manmandy and fallujah. It is clear the Republican Party is the only party willing to fight for these values and lead america to greatness in the 21st century. You see, the dirty little secret democrats dont want you to know is that they are the same party doing the same old thing. Next week, they are going to trot out the same old democrats with the same old message running the same old candidate. We are the party of new ideas in a changing and faster world than ever before. Democrats depend on super delegates and bureaucrats to sneak their agenda through the back door. We are the party of the grassroots. We honor what the voters say. Democrats want to put Labor Union Bosses in charge of our schools, limit our choices and feed our kids a steady diet of the left wing propaganda. We know every child matters and a classroom is not an assembly line. Its time to give power back to parents, embrace school choice, equip our children with the skills they need for college, career and life. Democrats Want Health Care choices in the hands of politicians. We Want Health Care choices in the hands of patients. Democrats want washington to impose a one size fits all policy of everybody. We say an independent people deserves individual solutions. What separates republicans from democrats is our belief in better. We believe in better schools, a Better Health care system, a better economy which rewards hard work, no matter where or when you punch the clock, and most of all, we believe in a better chance at the American Dream for everyone. The Republican Party will not stop until that becomes a reality. And thats why we need to stop Hillary Clinton. A Clinton Presidency only means more debt, more obamacare, and more hardworking families never seeing a raise. If Hillary Clinton is given the chance, shell stack the deck with the Supreme Court, with activist left wing judges who will treat the constitution like a doormat. You can kiss your gun rights goodbye if she ever finds her way into the white house. In foreign policy, a Clinton Presidency means forgetting our friends and enabling our enemies. Just look, just look at her Disastrous Iran Nuclear Deal which lined the pockets of the worlds number one state sponsor of terrorism with your money while abandoning our greatest ally in the middle east, the nation of israel. It was on her watch isis began to spread its wings of evil over the middle east, and she has spent the last 16 months looking in the eyes of the American People and lying about how recklessly she jeopardized the American People, our national security, with her secret email server. She lied. And she lied over and over and over and over. She lied. She lied. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps worst of all, perhaps worst of all, Hillary Clinton has perfected the art of politics for personal gain. She reads ethics rules as carefully as americans read their junk mail. Just look at her track record. She used her post as secretary of state to grease the wheels for democrat lobbyists, special interests and political insiders connected to the corrupt clinton machine. Her Family Foundation took millions of dollars in donations from countries notorious for human rights abuses and funneling money to radical islamic terrorists. For Hillary Clinton, the oval office is just another cash cow. Well, i have one word for all of this hypocrisy and corruption. Enough. Americans have had enough of a government that plays favorites to the wellconnected. They have had enough of the clintons excuses, cronyism and coverups. They have had enough of the corrupt deals americans have had enough. This election, this election is our chance to stop it and donald trump is the right man to lead that charge. You all know hes brought millions of new voters in our party because hes listening to americans who are anxious about a country which has lost its way. Donald trump wants to bring jobs back from overseas and hold companies who want to send them abroad accountable. Hes finally going to stop ilLegal Immigration and make sure our government puts american citizens first. Working families, working families are the lifeblood of our country and we cant thrive as a nation unless they are thriving. A lot of them havent seen a bigger paycheck in a very long time. Donald trump wants to make sure you can pay the mortgage, put gas in the car, and buy new clothes for the first day of school. Donald trump is committed to hitting terrorists hard and making the safety of every man, woman and child in america his number one priority. No more negotiating with terrorists. If they want to take us down, were going to take them down. And he will protect the Second Amendment and every other right guaranteed in the constitution by approving and appointing conservative justices to the Supreme Court. And importantly, hes going to protect the lives of the unborn. So i have a message to america. Hold on. Help is coming with donald trump and mike pence, americas ready for a comeback after almost a decade of Clinton Obama failures. I want to close by telling you a littleknown story of american greatness. William knudsen was an immigrant who started out working in a shipyard and living in a boardinghouse. He knew america promised limitless opportunity and was determined to make the most of it. He developed his talents for Industrial Engineering and worked his way up at general motors. By 1937, he had become the president of the company. In 1940, the government asked him to get americas factories on a wartime footing. Instead of cars and trucks, americas great manufacturers were now proudly making tanks and planes. For this enormous responsibility, knudsen was paid 1 per year. He didnt do it for the money. He was motivated by a duty to keep america free from tyranny. He set aside the job of leading one of the Largest Companies in america so he could help save the world. At the end of the war, a War Department official told him you have never done anything for yourself, only for your country. You have never spared yourself. Like william knudsen, we cannot spare ourselves either. Economic freedom, belief in the American Dream, a strong defense, putting country first, those values are under assault from Hillary Clinton and the rest of the democrat party. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is not just a tag line for a bumper sticker. It is our american legacy and its our responsibility to save it and strengthen it for our children and grandchildren. Listen, god didnt put us here by accident. This is our moment to set a new course for an america as strong and confident as we have ever been. Lets stand united as republicans. Lets stop Hillary Clinton. Lets get to work. Expand our republican majorities and lets elect donald trump president. Thank you and god bless you. Thank you. Still ahead tonight, a tech tycoon ready to do something thats never been done at a Republican Convention. Stand onstage, publicly declare that hes gay. Later, we will hear what kind of tone donald trump takes and what kind of message he sends to america in his speech tonight. Is it a force of nature . Or a sales event . The summer of audi sales event is here. Get up to a 5,000 bonus on select audi models. Want to show you donald trump just arriving with his wife, melania and their young son, baron, just a few seconds ago while we were in commercial break. Obviously donald trump looks like perhaps he has the speech or copy of the speech in his hand. As you know, he often reads from a page like that which has bullet points on it weechlt are told he will be reading off a teleprompter for a speech that is going to be closely watched, perhaps the most important, without a doubt the most important speech of his career thus far. He will be introduced by his daughter ivanka trump and what is billed as a very important speech for her and the entire trump family and the campaign. In a matter of minutes, peter thiel, a silicon value billionaire, one of the early founders of facebook, paypal, is going to be speaking. He is the second openly gay man ever to address a Republican Convention. The first time it happened was in 2000. Jim cole, the congressman, but he didnt address actually being gay or acknowledge it or talk anything about the fight for equality for gay and lesbian americans. We are told peter thiel will address some of those issues. We are not exactly sure how. S. E. Cupp, what do you make of the fact he is being allowed to speak tonight . What do you think the reception will be . It is the speech i am most looking forward to tonight. If i had a dime for every millenial i met [ inaudible ] i would be a billionaire. Its hugely disappointing to me that so much antigay rhetoric was added in to a platform when the candidate himself is far more progressive on those issues. Many in the Gay Community say this is probably the most antigay republican platform they have seen. Without a doubt it is. Thats deeply disappointing. I hope peter changes some hearts and minds. Lets listen in. Good evening. Im peter thiel. I build companies and i support people who are building new things from social networks to rocket ships. Im not a politician. But neither is donald trump. He is a builder and its time to rebuild america. Where i work in Silicon Valley, its hard to see where america has gone wrong. My industry has made a lot of progress in computers and in software and of course, its made a lot of money. But Silicon Valley is a small place. Drive out to sacramento or even across the bridge to oakland, and you wont see the same prosperity. Thats just how small it is. Across the country, wages are flat. Americans get paid less today than ten years ago. But health care and College Tuition costs more every year. Meanwhile, wall street bankers inflate bubbles in everything from government bonds to Hillary Clintons speaking fees. Our economy is broken. If you are watching me right now, you understand this better than any politician in washington, d. C. And you know this isnt the dream we looked forward to. Back when my parents came to america looking for that dream, they found it right here in cleveland. They brought me here as a 1yearold and this is where i became an american. Opportunity was everywhere. My dad studied engineering at Case Western Reserve University just down the road from where we are now. Because in 1968, the worlds high tech capital wasnt just one city. All of america was high tech. Its hard to remember this, but our government once was once high tech, too. When i moved to cleveland, Defense Research was laying the foundations for the internet. The Apollo Program was just about to put a man on the moon. And it was Neil Armstrong from right here in ohio. The future felt limitless. But today, our government is broken. Our nuclear bases still use floppy discs. Our newest fighter jets cant even fly in the rain. And it would be kind to say the Government Software works poorly, because much of the time, it doesnt even work at all. That is a staggering decline for the country that completed the manhattan project. We dont accept such incompetence in Silicon Valley and we must not accept it from our government. Instead of going to mars, we have invaded the middle east. We dont need to see Hillary Clintons deleted emails. Her incompetence is in plain sight. She pushed for a war in libya and today, its a Training Ground for isis. On this most important issue, donald trump is right. Its time, its time to end the era of stupid wars and rebuild our country. When i was a kid, the great debate was about how to defeat the soviet union, and we won. Now we are told, now we are told that the great debate is about who gets to use which bathroom. This is a distraction from our real problems. Who cares . Of course, every american has a unique identity. I am proud to be gay. I am proud to be a republican. But most of all, i am proud to be an american. I dont pretend to agree with every plank in our partys platform, but fake culture wars only distract us from our economic decline, and nobody in this race is being honest about it except donald trump. While it is fitting to talk about who we are, today its even more important to remember where we came from. For me, that is cleveland and the Bright Future it promised. When donald trump asked us to make America Great again, hes not suggesting a return to the past. Hes running to lead us back to that Bright Future. Tonight, i urge all of my fellow americans to stand up and vote for donald trump. Thank you. Thank you very much. Thanks. My grandfather said the speech you were most looking forward to, to live up to, any expectations . It definitely did, to see that man get a standing ovation in this hall, saying to america im proud to be gay, im proud to be a republican, im proud to be an american, was everything to me. It was important for people to see. I hope a lot of millenials were tuning in. Welcome to the party of donald trump. Im not crediting donald trump for his own convictions. Thats ridiculous. But it was really nice to see at that moment here onstage. If donald trump has opened up this party, he has differed from the platform in various ways and his speech wouldnt be accepted in this room and that was his speech was accepted in this room. He got a standing ovation. Im tired of caricaturing republicans and donald trump in a certain way. The platform, though, which donald trump frankly stayed out of and didnt try to influence at all, is against equality of marriage, attempting to repeal Supreme Court ruling against gay people being allowed to adopt in this country. The platform is horrible. I think the pick of pence is very disturbing because of his position on lgbt. But what we just saw was beautiful. What we just saw was history. What we just saw was something that if you had told us hey, donald trump was unlikely but this was unlikely. I was terrified that young gay people watching this tonight were going to see a man either booed or met with silence and he was not met with silence. He was met with applause. We can be proud of that. Thats bigger than donald trump. Its something thats happened in this country that Shows Positive change is possible and every kid watching tonight and every parent watching tonight can be proud of this party and of this country. That was beautiful. You know, one of the things he said that i thought would be most important, which we had talked about many times in done text of race, he said im proud to be gay but im proud to be an american. That is the point. This is a country of 300 Million People, gay, straight, black, white, his panic, whatever. The country is about the principles of freedom and liberty. It isnt about your identity of any kind. He was talking about the Republican Party i think when he said fake culture wars distract us from the our economy decline. In other words, cut it out. Stop having these fake culture, these culture wars over issues that the demography of the country has changed, the party has changed, the platform hasnt changed but hes saying we have more important things to do. He was also referencing the war over transgender people using bathrooms, saying who cares. A lot of people in this room do care and certainly a lot of people on the Platform Committee do, because its in the platform. The correction is they should use whatever bathroom they want. He said that initially and beco backtracked and said it should be up to states. I certainly agree that it is progress and it is heartening to see the response that he got. Its really hard, though, to reconcile these things so what does it mean in terms of policy if donald trump becomes president . Is the platform going to be enforced . Will the pence view be enforced . Whats going to happen . I have to tell you, i feel like the anchovie on a caesar salad. I know you are salivating for that and you are going to get it. Before i start, i have to tell you a funny story. I was driving over here and for sure i was a little nervous. I picked up the phone and i have a great uncle in beirut who is an unbelievable International Lawyer and orator. I said you have to help me. Im speaking right before ivanka and donald at the Republican National convention and im a little bit nervous. Can you give me some advice . He said why would they have you . I said no, thats not exactly what i need. I need to be pumped up. Im nervous. I need some confidence. Dont do this to me. He said okay, okay, give me two minutes, let me think. He says ive got it. Ive got it. Youre just like a deceased at an irish wake. I said you mean im that good . He said no, you need to be there to get things started but nobody really expects you to say very much. So with that, i want to start. Im here because donald trump is one of my closest friends for 40 years, and im the son of a very humble lebanese grocer from culver city, california. Wheres california . Yes. And im here because of the amazing magic elixir that happened between the dna of a thousand civilizations from the levant and the beauty and the wonder and the opportunity of america that puts all of us here in this rapture of the American Dream for me to be here tonight to talk about my friend, my partner and the future president of the United States, donald trump. But what im going to do is something different. Youre going to hate me for it because youre not going to hear one negative thing out of my mouth. I have nothing negative to say about hillary. I have only Amazing Things to tell you about donald. Because this man is good enough, hes tough enough, hes smart enough and hes wellversed enough to do it on his own merits. We dont need to go anyplace else. So what i want to do is spend a little time talking to you about the messenger, the man. Without his armor, without his weaponry, walking down the tunnel into the arena, who is he . What is he made out of . So if we start at an easy place to find him is in his children. You have all had the great opportunity to see his kids over the last couple days. What do you think of that . And the litmus test for any parent as we all know is in the children. My mother used to say you learn what a man is by listening to your mother but you learn how to be a man by watching your father. You watch this man, you get it. Those of us who are married or have a partner understand that the best reflection on us is our wives. In my case, for sure its my wife, rochelle. In donald case for sure its his wife melania. Melania, i want to tell you on behalf of the 10,000 people in this stadium and the 50 Million People who are watching, you are a timeless tribute to beauty, grace and elegance under pressure. Youre amazing. Youre awesome. So im going to use words that you probably havent heard about donald. I started my relationship with him in a funny way. I had the Great Fortune of working for a man named bob bass in ft. Worth, texas. In the 80s we bought a Hotel Company and the Hotel Company in addition to lots of other things happened to own the hotel that was right behind donalds window in his office. So you know donald well enough by now to know that hed in d in that hotel. I was a young pup. He was a big guy in new york at the time. He wanted to buy the hotel. Long story short, we end up having 30 lawyers, 50 accountants, we cant get to a deal. Im scared to death because my boss is going to fire me for selling to trump, whos smarter, whos brighter, whos better, and who will end up getting a much better deal. So donald in the midst of this, this is really what started my friendship, did something i had never seen before and that i have used consecutively after that. He said look, i want to do this. I dont know what i should know so i will pay your boss the price that he wants and i will close it in one week on one condition. You, tom barrack, tell me everything i should know that i dont know. I said look, i just told you, im not doing that. Were not entering into this kind of contract. He said no, no contract. No contract. You and i shake hands right here, no lawyers, no contract, no nothing. You just tell me the things that i should know and how to fix it and ill do this deal. He played me like a steinway piano. I then spent four months fixing everything in the hotel, a little rentcontrolled tenant named fanny lowenstein, smartest woman in the world, 83 years old, he had me buy her a piano, do the carpet. It was one of the most Amazing Things i had ever seen. He was incredible. But he practices an unbelievable set of disciplines. So everybody says okay, the man is rich, hes a celebrity, hes powerful. But what is he going to do, how does he do it. He has relentless habits. Relentless beautiful habits. He shows up on time. He believes that punctuality is the courtesy of kings. He doesnt confuse effort with results. He befriends the bewildered. He pushes everybody around him including you through comfort barriers that they never thought that they could ever, ever shatter. And he does all this with a discipline of an animal in the jungle. His motto is that a lion wakes up every morning and knows one thing. That it has to run faster than the fastest gazelle and a gazelle wakes up and she knows that she needs to run faster than the fastest lion. Whether you are a gazelle or lion, you wake up in the morning, you get the hell going. And that is donald. But i want to share with you two little vignettes that really stuck in my mind. Its not financial, its not how rich he is or what a great deal guy he is. You know all those things. Im telling you after 35 years of being with the man through the valleys and up the mountains, he really is better than the billing that you see. Just as an administrator, as an executive, as a guy who can actually take care of the people that work for him and build teams. But it was 1989, i know many of you, especially you girls, were not alive then. And it was a tyson fight. This time, donald was big in Atlantic City and he called me up and said okay, lets go to the tyson fight. I had one of my little sons with me. He said no problem, ill bring donny, lets go. Of course, in typical trump style we hop in the trump helicopter, we fly into Atlantic City and its a zoo. We land, thousands of paparazzi, thousands of people everywhere, whisked to his limo, go to the front of the Convention Center and theres 10,000 cameras. He said lets go back to back of the Convention Center. We go to the back of the Convention Center, we start walking in and people harass him like mad. At the side of the door theres a little nondescript man. He says mr. Trump, mr. Trump. Donald stops, he walks over to the door, he says louie. He says mr. Trump, im so happy to see you, thank you for what youve done for my employees and thank you for what you do for me. I just want you to know that my critically ill son thinks youre the greatest man in the world. Meanwhile, everythings going crazy, we are late to get to the fight and donalds just focused, eye to eye with this man who at that moment, thought that he was the only star in donalds universe. He said louie, im not the greatest man in the world, you are. So we take the kids, we roll in. Its five minutes to the fight. I think it was tyson holmes. Probably lasted four seconds. It was one of tysons longer fights. We get to the floor and hes fidgety. I cant figure whats happening. Ive got the boys. I said whats wrong . He said give me your program. I gave him my program. He writes something on it, he brings one of his security guards over and sends it back to the doorman. I said what was that . He said i just wrote a note. I said what did the note say . He said it was to his son and said i came here tonight to see two champions. Mike tyson and your dad. True story. Now, what kind of man in the middle of his celebritiship has the presence to focus on the littlest guy in the shop, and that is donald trump. Ten years later, ten years later, one of the greatest men in donalds life passed away, fred trump. And the funeral was being held the night before at the Frank Campbell funeral home, 82nd and madison. Donald called me up, said i cant stand it, im going to go over early, why dont you come over early with me. I said fine. We get to the funeral home, were sitting as kind of, you know, two middleaged guys that go through that debate when your father leaves of whats the difference between relevancy and mortality, right, that loss where youre really questioning whats important and whats not important and its not about money and its not about power and its not about stuff, and all the agony that you have with your father at that instant just evaporates, and youre sitting there with something. So we sat there, just musing, and i said how do you feel . He said well, im thankful that i have my dads strength and my moms sensitivity and all i want to do is leave the legacy of the trump name that they built brick by brick a little bit better than i found it. Hes done it. But look, were at a tipping point. The world is in a mess. This necklace of globalism that we have all talked about has crumbled and shattered into a thousand shards. It needs a jeweler to take each of those jewels one by one, starting with america and its own diamond and polish it. Then slowly, find the seamless strength to put them all become togeth back together so what we look at is the necklace of prosperity and tolerance around the world. So we have been on an vadventur and people say wow, donald trump, its like a mission tale from businessman, celebrity, father, to potentially president of the United States. And i say to you, it is a tale but its up to you, all of you tonight, to unite in one pen, one hand, and make once upon a time, once upon this time. Thank you. Tom barrack, ceo of colony capital. Really interesting. This is probably the first time where we have heard intimate details of somebody who has an ongoing longterm relationship with donald trump. That are consistent with the stories that donald trump jr. Told. We heard him say, heard tom barrack say donald trump cares about the littlest man in the shop. The time he took to write that beautiful note when he was there with his son and this is a night of entertainment. Those are reflective of the stories we heard from donald trump jr. Saying we were there, pouring concrete, we were there when they were putting up sheet metal. Donald trump has consistently reached the bottom of his company and uplifted people who do the hard work to be at the top. I spent some time with tom barrack, who when you ask people who is Donald Trumps best friend, people often say i dont know. One of the names that comes up and there are only a few, is tom barrack. Tom barrack may sound like a chapter from the art of the deal in some ways but he goes back with him 40 years and he goes back with his kids which is why hes speaking before ivanka because he raised his children with the trump kids and he went through trumps divorces with donald trump and so you know, its interesting to me that this evening, you have a political speaker and somebody from the Business World and just a close personal friend of Donald Trumps. It was so interesting to have him say at the getgo im not going to be talking about Hillary Clinton. We dont need to do that. Im focusing on donald trump. Im not sure whether i just saw a home run or i saw Clint Eastwood without the chair. What i do know is that the tone that was struck by him answers my question from earlier in the night, which is is this intended to play to this hall or to the nation at large. Peter thiel in combination with tom barrack answered that question. They are trying to expand the tent i think for the first time decisively since the entire convention began. About the kind of friends that he has. When you think he [ inaudible ] peter thiel, tom barrack and the doorman, that says a lot about someone. Thats one of the messages. We have to take a quick break. When we come back, ivanka trump, then donald trump. Stay with us. Ground floor, please. Must. Strike. Back mobile strike download and play now. Free from the app store. Were getting ready for the final moments. Were going to seea video. There are so many millions of americans who have not really tuned in all that much. This of course in a few minutes will be a moment that a lot of americans start paying their first real attention and with millions of undecided voters, this is a big moment for donald trump. He has been successful but also off putting to americans here. Of course hes going to be introduced by perhaps the best person that there is to introduce him to america, his daughter, ivanka trump, who is by most all accounts a lovely and very, very bright and warm person. Very poised. We say shes got a really excellent speech shes been working on for time. Its going to tell the personal story of her relationship with her father. They want voters out there to know who the family is. You see 10yearold baron, the son but heres melania. We havent seen her here since she gave that speech monday night. The video will be narrated by the actor john voight. I remember him campaigning for rudy giuliani, and this will be a narrative they want the American People to see. This is the donald trump they want you, if youre among those voters watching, that they want you to think of when you think of donald trump. They dont want you to think of the negative news coverage, ted cruzs speech last night, and what ivanka trump has to say about her father. Thats melania and and Donald Trumps son baron. Its the first time hes been here at this convention. The entire family is there in that vip section. Traditional moment for a very nontraditional candidate and im sure a nontraditional speech. Were told its more of a greatest hits of what hes been saying on the campaign trail for months and months and not anything new but a lot of new delivery in how he presents it to the American People. And the video is about to begin right now. I want to share with you the story of my friend donald trump. As you know, hes running for president of the United States. And as you know, when he gets elected, he will make our country great again. The story begins in new york in the early 70s. The city was on the verge of bankruptcy, but donald looked across the river and saw not a troubled city but a city that symbolized americas greatness and he was committed to making it great again. Donald was born in queens. His father was a builder. He learned about leadership early at the new York Military academy. He became captain of the Baseball Team and captain of the cadets. He learned that Building Business at fathers side while working on his degree at the Wharton School of finance. After college donald faced a decision, join his father in queens or dream big and make it in the greatest city in the world. The decision was easy. Donalds first notable project was less about renovating a building than helping the city rediscover its soul. The once great Commodore Hotel lan languished in a rundown area. It was sold by a developer who showed he had the drive necessary. They chose donald trump. He negotiated a tax abatement with the city jump starting project and creating new construction and hotel jobs. Donalds striking new building revitalized the neighborhood. He single handedly changed the grand central, midtown area by himself, by doing that project. Before long, more trump buildings helped change the skyline of new york. Building in new york was not easy, but donald was never more frustrated than watching the city waste six years and 13 million trying to rebuild central parks ice rink. Donald was astounded. It took him only two years to build trump tower. So he stepped in and took over the project. He finished in three months and under budget. He took over another city project, tied up in red tape since 1978. Donald transformed a land fill into a championship public golf course and saved the city millions. Donald will tell you his secret for success is a strong team. He just has that knack of finding the right person, the qualified person, who will really excel in that position. Like his father before him, he taught his children the business and now theyre important members of the trump team. Mr. Trump and his children, they love what they do and theyre incredibly good at it. I think that breeds the same passion for all that work for him and are around him. From day one my father trained us very well, whether it was in a bood room or board on the job site. Hed send me renderings of buildings that were under construction and in the planning stage and say i cant wait for you to grow up and help me build these. Now its fun to stand shoulder to shoulder with my father. Over the years donald has created tens of thousands new jobs, many of them for women. When i was building my building on park avenue and he was building the trump tower, he had the first female Construction Superintendent on the job. When he made me general manager nine years ago, there were only three female general managers of five star hotels in the whole of north america. After a long career accomplishing much of what others said couldnt be done, donald trump has set his sights on a new rebuilding project. I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again. Donald has said he admires people who put themselves directly on the line. Today hes not on putting himself on the line but under fire. Donald could have continued himself successful career and spent more time with his family, but instead he chose to run for president. He doesnt need to do this. But whats been happening over the last eight years has been so tragic for the course of our nation, he simply had to do this. For my father to step away from a company that hes deeply committed to in favor of running for elected office was a real sacrifice for him. Its donalds nature to help others. A lot of times he comes across a story or meets a person that touches him and hell make sure that that person is taken care of privately for the rest of their lives. Donald trump has a very big heart. When Police Officers or firefighters or even sanitation workers, correction officers, i can remember a teacher got injured or died, he would step forward and he would make an anonymous contribution. For donald it always begins with our young people. Donald trump believes Higher Education and more Job Opportunities will enhance the quality of american living. Donald is committed to protecting our families and keeping our cities safe. What i see out of donald trump, it starts with a positive message of respect for our Law Enforcement officers. He is the one candidate, the nonpolitician, who can fix our broken economy and get america working again. Trump is a guy brand new, comes in, shakes up washington, changes policies on taxes and regulations and helps businesses and middleincome wage earners will get a raise for the first time in 15 years. Donald will stand up for america. Donald trump understands negotiation. Theres just no doubt about it. Its one of his great vens astr and we have been taken to the cleaners in world trade. We are losing jobs every year, every day as a result of bad trade policies and bad trade agreements. While some politicians say our best days are past, donald believes our best days are yet to come. Ronald reagan was a cheer leader for america. He would talk about what a great country this is, how important it is to work. That gives incentive to people. It makes working hopeful. I think what donald trump can do, he can give us hope again, he can give us pride in being american again, he can make us feel like what we should feel like. Were exceptionally lucky People Living in this country. Donald trump is a leader, not a politician. He will be honest with the American People. He will stop wasteful Government Spending our our tax dollars. Hell cut our taxes and create jobs and will rebuild our broken economy. He will lead this country, not apologize to the world for our success. He will always put americas best interests first, whether its a trade deal with china or standing up to radical islamic terrorists. As he has done so many times before, he will stand up for the brave men and women who defend our country and who protect us here at home. He will bring about the change this country so desperately needs and get the job done. Its been a long time since we had a president like that. Donald trump, its time to make America Great again. Ladies and gentlemen, please give a very warm welcome to ivanka trump. Good evening. Thank you. One year ago i introduced my father when he declared his candidacy. In his own way and through his own sheer force of will, he sacrificed greatly to enter the political arena as an outsider and he prevailed against a field of 16 very talented competitors. For more than a year donald trump has been the peoples champion, and tonight he is the peoples nominee. Like many of my fellow millennials, i do not consider myself categorically republican or democrat. More than party affiliation, i vote based on what i believe is right for my family and for my country. Sometimes its a tough choice. That is not the case this time. As the proud daughter of your nominee, i am here to tell you that this is the moment and donald is the person to make America Great again real change, the kind we have not seen in decades, is only going to come from outside the system, and its only going to come from a man who has spent his entire life doing what others said could not be done. My father is a fighter. When the primaries got tough, and they were tough, he did what any great leader does. He dug deeper, worked harder, got better and became stronger. I have seen him fight for his family, i have seen him fight for his employees, i have seen him fight for his country, and now i am seeing him fight for our country. Its been the story of his life and more recently the spirit of his campaign. Its also a prelude to reaching the goal that unites us all when this party and better still this country knows what it is like to win again. If its possible to be famous and yet not really well known, that describes the father who raised me. In the same office in trump tower where we now work together, i remember playing by the floor on my fathers desk, constructing miniature buildings with legos and erector sets while he did the same with concrete, steel and glass. My father taught my siblings me the importance of positive values and a strong ethical compass, how to strive for excellence in all that we do. He taught us there is nothing we cannot accomplish if we marry vision and passion with an enduring work ethic. One of my fathers greatest talents is his ability to see potential in people before they see it in themselves. It was like that for us, too, growing up. He taught us that potential vanishes into nothing without effort and that like him we each had a responsibility to work not just for ourselves but for the betterment of the world around us. Over the years on too many occasions to count, i saw my father tear stories out of the newspaper about people whom he had never met who were facing some injustice or hardship. Hed write a note to his assistant in a signature black felt tip pen and request that the person be found and invited to trump tower to meet with them. He would talk to them and then draw upon his expensive network to find them a job or get them a break, and they would leave his office as people so often do after having been with donald trump feeling that life could be great again. Throughout my entire life i have witnessed his empathy and generosity towards others, especially those who are suffering. It is just his way of being in your corner when youre down. My father not only has the strength and ability necessary to be our next president , but also the kindness and compassion that will enable him to be the leader that this country needs. My father has a sense of fairness that touches every conviction hes hold. pe Trump Organization and ive seen how he operates as a leader, making important decisions that shape careers and that change lives. Ive learned a lot about the world from walking construction jobs by his side. When run properly, construction sites are true mayeritocracieme. Competence in the building trade is easy to spot and incompetence is impossible to hide. These sites are also incredible melting pots gathering people from all walks of life and uniting them to work towards a single mission. There have always been men of all background and ethnicities on my fathers job sites and long before it was common place, you also saw women. My father values talent. He recognizes real knowledge and skill when he finds it. He is color blind and gender neutral. He hires the best person for the job period. Words and promises, no matter how visionary they sound, will only get you so far. In our business, youre not a builder unless youve got a building to show for it. Or in my fathers case, city skylines. Most people strive their entire lives to achieve Great Success in a single industry. My father has succeeded in many on the highest level and on a global scale. One of reasons he has thrived as an entrepreneur is because he listens to everyone. Billionaire executives dont usually ask that people doing the work for their opinion of the work. My father is an exception. On every one of his projects youll see him talking to the super, the painter, the engineers, the electricians. Hell ask them for their feedback. If they think something should be done differently or could be done better. When donald trump is in charge, all that counts is ability, effort and excellence. This has long been the philosophy at the Trump Organization. At my fathers company, there are more female than male executives. Women are paid equally for the work that we do and when a woman becomes a mother she is supported, not shut out. Women represent 46 of the total u. S. Labor force and 40 of the u. S. Households have female primary bread winners. In 2004 women made 83 cents for every dollar earned by a man. Single women without children earned 94 cent for each dollar earned by a man, whereas married mothers made only 77 cents. As researchers have noted, gender is no longer the factor creating the greatest wage discrepancy in this country, motherhood is. As president , my father will change the labor laws that were put in place at a time when women were not a significant portion of the workforce and he will focus on making quality child care affordable and accessible for all. As a mother myself of three young children, i know how hard it is to work while raising a family, and i also know that im far more fortunate than most. American families need relief. Policies that allow women with children to thrive should not be novelties, they should be the norm approximately politicians talk about wage equality, but my father has made it a practice at his company throughout his entire career. He will fight for equal pay for equal work and i will fight for this, too, right alongside of him. Americans today need an economy that permits people to rise again. A Trump Presidency will turn the economy around and restore the tradition of giving each generation hope for brighter opportunities than those of generation that came before. In donald trump you have a candidate who knows the difference between wanting something done and making it happen. When my father says that he will build a tower, keep an eye on the skyline. Floor by floor a soaring structure will appear, usually record setting in its height and iconic in its design. Real people are hired to do real work. Vision becomes reality. When my father says that he will make America Great again, he will deliver. We have a chance this year to reclaim our heritage as a country that dreams big and means the impossible happen. Fortunately donald trump is incapable of thinking small. When i was a child, my father always told me, ivanka, if youre going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big. My father will set lofty goals and hell be relentless in his determination to achieve them. To people all over america, i say when you have my father in your corner, you will never again have to worry about being let down. He will fight for you all the time, all the way, every time. Maybe its the developer in him, but donald trump cannot stand to see empty main streets and boarded up factories. He cant bear the injustice of College Graduates who are crippled by student debt and mothers who cant afford the cost of the child care required to return to work to better the lives of their families. Other politicians see these hardships, see the unfairness of it all and they say i feel for you. Only my father will say ill fight for you. The hard working men and women of this country identify with my father. He is tough and he is persevering. He is honest and he is real. Hes an optimist and hes a relentless believer in america and all of her potential. He loves his family and he loves his country with his heart and his soul. Politicians ask to be judged by their promises, not their results. I ask you to judge my father by his results. Judge his values by those hes instilled in his children. Judge his competency by the towers hes built, the companies hes founded and the tens of thousands of jobs hes created. Hes the single most qualified person to serve as chief executive of an 18 trillion economy. My father will call upon the best and brightest people from all spheres of industry and both side of the aisle, a new set of thinkers to face our countrys existing and future problems with fresh perspective and brave new solutions. Come january 17, all things will be possible again. We can hope and dream and think big again. No one has more faith in the American People than my father. He will be your greatest, your truest and your most loyal champion. This is the fighter, the doer that you have chosen as your nominee. In ways no one expected, this moment in the life of our country has defined a mission and given it to an extraordinary man. Hes ready to see it all the way through to speak to every man and every woman of every background in every part of this great country, to earn your trust and to earn your vote. He earned that and much more from me a long time ago. Ive loved and respected him my entire life, and i could not be more proud tonight to present to you and to all of america my father and our next president , donald j. Trump. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you very much. Friends, delegates and fellow americans, i humbly and gratefully accept your nomination for the presidency of the United States. Usa, usa, usa. Who would have believed that when we started this journey on june 16th last year, we and i say we because we are a team, would have received almost 14 million votes, the most in the history of the Republican Party and that the Republican Party would get 60 more votes than it received eight years ago. Who would have believed this . Who would have believed this . The democrats on the other hand received 20 fewer votes than they got four years ago. Not so good. Together we will lead our party back to the white house and we will lead our country back to safety, prosperity and peace. We will be a country of generosity and warmth, but we will also be a country of law and order. Our convention occurs at a moment of crisis for our nation. The attacks on our police and the terrorism of our cities threaten our very way of life. Any politician who does not grasp this danger is not fit to lead our country. Americans watching this address tonight have seen the recent images of violence in our streets and the chaos in our communities. Many have witnessed this violence personally. Some have even been its victims. I have a message for all of you that crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon and i mean very soon come to an end. Beginning on january 20th of 2017, safety will be restored. The most basic duty of government is to defend the lives of its own citizens. Any government that fails to do so is a government unworthy to lead. It is finally time for a straight forward assessment of the state of our nation. I will present the facts plainly and honestly. We cannot afford to be so politically correct anymore. So if you want to hear the corporate spin, the carefully crafted lies and the media myths, the democrats are holding their Convention Next week. Go there. But here at our convention, there will be no lies. We will honor the American People with the truth and nothing else. These are the facts decades of progress made in bringing down crime are now being reversed by this administrations rollback of criminal enforcement. Homicides last year increased by 17 in americas 50 largest cities. Thats the largest increase in 25 years. In our nations capital, killings have risen by 50 . Theyre up nearly 60 in nearby baltimore. In the president s hometown of chicago, more than 2,000 people have been the victim of shootings this year alone. And almost 4,000 have been killed in the chicago area since he took office. The number of Police Officers killed in the line of duty has risen by almost 50 compared to this point last year. Nearly 180,000 Illegal Immigrants with criminal records ordered deported from our country are tonight roaming free to threaten peaceful citizens. The number of new illegal immigrant families who have crossed the border so far this year already exceeds the entire total from 2015. They are being released by the tens of thousands into our communities with no regard for the impact on Public Safety or resources. One such border crosser was released and made his way to nebraska. There he ended the life of an innocent young girl named sara rute. She was 21 years old and was killed the day after graduating from college with a 4. 0 grade point average, number one in her class. Her killer was then released a second time and he is now a fugitive from the law. Ive met saras beautiful family, but to this administration, their amazing daughter was just one more American Life that wasnt worth protecting. No more. One more child to sacrifice on the order and on the altar of open borders. What about our economy . Again, i will tell you the plain facts that have been edited out of your nightly news and your morning newspaper. Nearly 4 in 10 africanamerican children are living in poverty while 58 of africanamerican youth are now not employed. 2 million more latinos are in poverty today than when president obama took his oath of office less than eight years ago. Another 14 Million People have left the workforce entirely. Household incomes are down more than 4,000 since the year 2000. Thats 16 years ago. Our trade deficit in goods reached nearly think of this, think of this. Our trade deficit is 800 billion think of that. 800 billion last year alone. Were going to fix that. The budget is no better. President obama has almost doubled our National Debt to more than 19 trillion and growing. And yet what do we have to show for it . Our roads and bridges are falling apart. Our airports are third world condition, and 43 million americans are on food stamps. Now, let us consider the state of affairs abroad. Not only have our citizens endured domestic disaster, but theyve lived through one international humiliation after another, one after another we all remember the images of our sailors being forced to their knees by their iranian captors at gun point. This was just prior to the signing of the iran deal, which gave back to iran 150 billion and gave us absolutely nothing. It will go down in history as one of the worst deals ever negotiated. Another humiliation came when president obama drew a red line in syria and the whole world knew it meant absolutely nothing. In libya our consulate, the symbol of america prestige around the globe was brought down in flames. America is far less safe and the world is far less stable than when obama made the decision to put Hillary Clinton in charge of americas foreign policy. Lets defeat her in november, okay. I am certain that it was a decision that president obama truly regrets. Her bad instincts and her bad judgment, something pointed out by Bernie Sanders, are what caused so many of the disasters unfolding today. Lets review the record. In 2009 prehillary, isis was not even on the map, libya was stable, egypt was peaceful, iraq was seeing a big, big reduction in violence, iran was being choked by sanctions, syria was somewhat under control. After four years of Hillary Clinton, what do we have . Isis has spread across the region and the entire world. Libya is in ruins and our ambassador and his staff were left helpless to die at the hands of savage killers. Egypt was turned over to the radical Muslim Brotherhood forcing the military to retake control. Iraq is in chaos. Iran is on the path to nuclear weapons. Syria is in engulfed in a civil war and a refugee crisis now threatens the west. After 15 years of wars in the middle east, after trillions of dollars spent and thousands of lives lost, the situation is worse than it has ever been before. This is the legacy of Hillary Clinton. Death, destruction, terrorism and weakness. But Hillary Clintons legacy does not have to be americas legacy. The problems we face now, poverty and violence at home, war and destruction abroad will last only as long as we continue relying on the same politicians who created them in the first place. A change in leadership is required to produce a change in outcomes. Tonight i will share with you my plan for action for america, the most important difference between our plan and that of our opponent is that our plan will put america first. Americanism, not globalism, will be our credo as long as we are led by politicians who will not put america first, then we can be assured that other nations will not Treat America with respect, the respect that we deserve. The American People will come first ones again. Once again. My plan will begin with safety at home, which means safe neighborhoods, secure borders and protection from terrorism. There can be no prosperity without law and order. On the economy, i will outline reforms to add millions of new jobs and trillions in new wealth that can be used to rebuild america. A number of these reforms that i will outline tonight will be opposed by some of our nations most powerful special interests. Thats because these interests have rigged our political and Economic System for their exclusive benefit. Believe me, its for their benefit. Big business, elite media and major donors are lining up behind the campaign of my opponent because they know she will keep our rigged system in place. They are throwing money at her because they have total control over every single thing she does. She is their puppet and they pull the strings. That is why Hillary Clintons message is that things will never change, never ever. My message is that things have to change and they have to change right now. Every day i wake up determined to deliver a better life for the people all across this nation that have been ignored, neglected and abandoned. I have visited the laid off factory workers and the communities crushed by our horrible and unfair trade deals. These are the forgotten men and women of our country, and they are forgotten but theyre not going to be forgotten long. These are people who work hard but no longer have a voice. I am your voice. I have embraced crying mothers who have lost their children because our politicians put their personal agendas before the national good. I have no patience for injustice. How great are our police and how great is cleveland thank you. I have no patience for injustice, no tolerance for government incompetence, of which there is so much. No sympathy for leaders who fail their citizens. When innocent people suffer because our political system lacks the will or the courage or the basic decency to enforce our laws or still worse has sold out to some corporate lobbyist for cash, i am not able to look the other way and i wont look the other way. And when a secretary of state illegally stores her emails on a private server, deletes 33,000 of them so the authorities cant see her crime, puts our country at risk, lies about it in every different form and faces no consequence, i know that corruption has reached a level like never ever before in our country. When the fbi director says that the secretary of state was extremely careless and negligent in handling our classified secrets, i also know that these terms are minor compared to what she actually did. They were just used to save her from facing justice for her terrible, terrible crimes. In fact, her single greatest accomplishment may be committing such egregious crime and getting away with it, especially when others who have done far less have paid so dearly. When that same secretary of state rakes in millions and millions of dollars trading access and favors to special interests and foreign powers, i know the time for action has come. I have joined the political arena so that the powerful can no longer beat up on people who cannot defend themselves. Nobody knows the system better than me. Which is why i alone can fix it. I have seen firsthand how the system is rigged against our citizens, just like it was rigged against Bernie Sanders. He never had a chance. Never had a chance. But his supporters will join our movement because we will fix his biggest single issue, trade deals that strip our country of its jobs and strip us of our wealth as a country. Millions of democrats will join our movement because we are going to fix the system so it works fairly and justly for each and every american. In this cause, i am proud to have at my side the next Vice President of the United States, governor mike pence of indiana and a great guy. We will bring the same economic success to america that mike brought to indiana, which is amazing. Hes a man of character and accomplishment. He is the man for the job. The first task for our new administration will be to liberate our citizens from the crime and terrorism and lawlessness that threatens our communities. America was shocked to its core when our Police Officers in dallas were so brutally executed. Immediately after dallas, weve seen continued threats and violence against our Law Enforcement officials. Law officers have been shot or killed in recent days in georgia, missouri, wisconsin, kansas, michigan and tennessee. On sunday more police were gunned down in baton rouge, louisiana. Three were killed and three were very, very badly injured. An attack on Law Enforcement is an attack on all americans. I have a message to every last person threatening the peace on our streets and the safety of our police. When i take the oath of office next year, i will restore law and order to our country. Believe me, believe me. I will work with and appoint the best and brightest prosecutors and Law Enforcement officials to get the job properly done. In this race for the white house, i am the law and order candidate. The irresponsible rhetoric of our president , who has used the pulpit of the presidency to divide us by race and color has made america a more dangerous environment than frankly i have ever seen and anybody in this room has ever watched or seen. This administration has failed americas inner cities. Remember, it has failed americas inner cities. Its failed them on education, its failed them on jobs, its failed them on crime, its failed them in every way and on every single level. When i am president , i will work to ensure that all of our kids are treated equally and protected equally. Every action i take i will ask myself, does this make better for Young Americans in baltimore, in chicago, in detroit, in ferguson who have really in every way, folks, the same right to live out their dreams as any other child in america. Any other child. To make life safe for all of our citizens, we must also address the growing threats we face from outside the country. We are going to defeat the barbarians of isis, and were going to defeat them fast. Once again, france is the victim of brutal islamic terrorism. Men, women and children viciously mowed down, lives ruined, families ripped apart, a nation in mourning. The damage and devastation that can be inflicted by islamic radicals has been proven over and over. At the world trade center, at an office party in san bernardino, at the boston marathon, at a military recruiting center in chattanooga, tennessee, and many, many other locations. Only weeks ago in orlando, florida 49 wonderful americans were savagely murdered by an islamic terrorist. This time the terrorist targeted lgbtq community. No good and were going to stop it. As your president , i will do everything in my power to protect our lgbtq citizens from the violence and oppression of a hateful foreign ideology, believe me. And i have to say as a republican, it is so nice to hear you cheering for what i just said. Thank you. To protect us from terrorism, we need to focus on three things. We must have the best, absolutely the best gathering of intelligence anywhere in the world. The best. We must abandon the failed policy of nation building and regime change that Hillary Clinton pushed in iraq, in libya, in egypt and in syria. Instead we must work with all of our allies who share our goal of destroying isis and stamping out islamic terrorism and doing it now, doing it quickly, were going to win, were going to win fast. This includes working with our greatest ally in the region, the state of israel. Recently i have said that nato was obsolete because it did not properly cover terror. And also that many of the member countries were not paying their fair share. As usual, the United States has been picking up the cost. Shortly thereafter, it was announced that nato will be setting up a new program in order to combat terrorism. A true step in the right direction. Lastly and very importantly we Must Immediately suspend immigration from any nation that has been compromised by terrorism until such time as proven vetting mechanisms have been put in place. We dont want them in our country. My opponent has called for a radical 550 increase in syrian think of this, think of this. This is not believable but this is whats happening. A 550 increase in Syrian Refugees on top of the existing massive refugee flows coming in to our country already under the leadership of president obama. She proposes this despite the fact that theres no way to screen these refugees in order to find out who they are or where they come from. I only want to admit individuals into our country who will support our values and love our people anyone who endorses violence, hatred or oppression is not welcome in our country and never, ever will be. Decades of record immigration have produced lower wages and higher unemployment for our citizens, especially for africanamerican and latino workers. We are going to have an immigration system that works but one that works for the American People. On monday we heard from three parents whose children were killed by Illegal Immigrants. Mary ann mendoza, subbine durden and my friend jameel shaw. Theyre just three brave representatives of many thousands who have suffered so gravely. Of all my travels in this country, nothing has affected me more, nothing even close i have to tell you, than the time i have spent with the mothers and fathers who have lost their children to violence spilling across our borders, which we can solve. We have to solve it. These families have no special interests to represent them. There are no demonstrators to protect them and certainly none to protest on their behalf. My opponent will never meet with them or share in their pain, believe me. Instead my opponent wants sanctuary cities. But where was the sanctuary for kate steinly . Where was the sanctuary for the children of marian and saabine and jamily . Where was the sanctuary for all of the oh, its so sad to even be talking about it because we can solve this problem so quickly. Where was the sanctuary for all of the other americans who have been so brutally murdered and who have suffered so, so horribly . These wounded American Families have been alone, but they are not alone any longer. Tonight this candidate and the whole nation stand in their corner to support them, to send them our love and to pledge in their honor that we will save countless more families from suffering and the same awful fate. We are going to build a great border wall to stop ilLegal Immigration, to stop the gangs and the violence and to stop the drugs from pouring into our communities i have been honored to receive the endorsement of americas Border Patrol agents. And will work directly with them to protect the integrity of our lawful, lawful, lawful immigration system. Lawful. By ending catch and release on the border, we will end the cycle of human smuggling and violence. Illegal border crossings will go down. We will stop it. It wont be happening very much anymore, believe me. Peace will be restored by enforcing the rules for millions who overstay their visas. Our laws will finally receive the respect that they deserve. Tonight i want every american whose demands for immigration security have been denied and every politician who has denied them to listen very, very closely to the words i am about to say. On january 20th of 2017, the day i take the oath of office, americans will finally wake up in a country where the laws of the United States are enforced. We are going to be considerate and compassionate to everyone, but my greatest compassion will be for our own struggling citizens. Usa, usa, usa. My plan is the exact opposite of the radical and dangerous immigration policy of Hillary Clinton. Americans want relief from uncontrolled immigration, which is what we have now. Communities want relief, yet Hillary Clinton is proposing mass amnesty, Mass Immigration and mass lawlessness. Her plan will overwhelm your schools and hospitals, further reduce your jobs and wages and make it harder for recent immigrants to escape the tremendous cycle of poverty that theyre going through right now and make it almost impossible for them to join the middle class. I have a different vision for our workers. It begins with a new fair trade policy that protects our jobs and stands up to countries that cheat, of which there are many. Its been a signature message of my campaign from day one, and it will be a signature feature of my presidency from the moment i take the oath of office. I have made billions of dollars in business making deals. Now im going to make our country rich again. Using the greatest businesspeople in the world, which our country has, i am going to turn our bad trade agreements into great trade agreements. America has lost nearly one third of its manufacturing jobs sense 1997 following the enactment of disastrous trade deals supported by bill and Hillary Clinton. Remember, it was bill clinton who signed nafta, one of the worst economic deals ever made by our country or frankly any other country. Never, ever again. I am going to bring back our jobs to ohio and pennsylvania and new york and michigan and all of america, and i am not going to let Companies Move to other countries, firing their employees along the way without consequence. Not going to happen anymore. My opponent on the other hand has supported virtually every trade agreement that has been destroying our middle class. She supported nafta and she supported chinas entrance into the world trade organization, another one of her husbands colossal mistakes and disasters. She supported the job killing trade deal with south korea. She supported the transpacific partnership, which will not only destroy our manufacturing, but it will make america subject to the rulings of foreign governments and its not going to happen. I pledge to never sign any trade agreement that hurts our workers or that diminishes our freedom and our independence. We will never ever sign bad trade deals. America first. Again, america first. Instead i will make individual deals with individual countries. No longer will we enter into these massive transactions with many countries that are thousands of pages long and which no one from our country even reads or understands. We are going to enforce all trade violations against any country that cheats. This includes stopping chinas outrageous theft of intellectual property, along with their illegal product dumping and their devastating currency manipulation. They are the greatest that ever came about, they are the greatest currency manipulateors ever our horrible trade agreements with china and many others will be totally renegotiated. That includes renegotiating nafta to get a much better deal for america and will walk away if we dont get that kind of a deal our country is going to Start Building and making things again. Next comes the reform of our tax laws, regulations and energy rules. While Hillary Clinton plans a massive, and i mean massive tax increase, i have proposed the largest tax reduction of any candidate who has run for president this year, democrat or republican. Middle income americans and businesses will experience profound relief and taxes will be greatly simplified for everyone. I mean everyone. America is one of the highest taxed nations in the world. Reducing taxes will cause new companies and new jobs to come roaring back into our country. Believe me, it will happen and it will happen fast. Then were going to deal with the issue of regulation, one of the greatest job killers of them all. Excessive regulation is costing our country as much as 2 trillion a year, and we will end it very, very quickly. We are going to lift the restrictions on the production of american energy. This will produce more than 20 trillion in job creating Economic Activity over the next four decades. My opponent, on the other hand, wants to put the great miners and the great Steel Workers of our country out of work and out of business. That will never happen with donald j. Trump as president. Our Steel Workers and our miners are going back to work again. With these new economic policies, trillions and trillions of dollars will start flowing into our country. This new wealth will improve the quality of life for all americans. We will build the roads, highways, bridges, tunnels, airports, and the railways of tomorrow. This in turn will create millions of more jobs. We will rescue kids from failing schools by helping their parents send them to a safe school of their choice. My opponent would rather protect bureaucrats than serve american children, and thats what shes doing and thats what shes done. We will repeal and replace disastrous obama care you will be able to choose your own doctor again. And we will fix tsa at the airports, which is a total disaster. Thank you. Thank you. Were going to work with all of our students who are drowning in debt to take the pressure off these young people just starting out in their adult lives. Tremendous problem. We will completely rebuild our depleted military. And the countries that we are protecting at a massive cost to us, will be asked to pay their fair share we will take care of our great veterans like they have never been taken care of before. My just released tenpoint plan has received tremendous veteran support. We will guarantee those who served this country will be be a my opponent dismissed the v. A. Scandal. One more sign of how out of touch she really is. We are going to Department Head in government to provide a list of wasteful spending, a project that we can eliminate in my first 100 days. The politicians have talked about this for year, but im going to do it. We are going to appoint justices of the United StatesSupreme Court who will uphold our laws and our constitution the replacement of our beloved Justice Scalia will be a person of similar views, principles and judicial philosophies, very important. This will be one of the most important issues decided by this election. My opponent wants to essentially abolish the Second Amendment. I, on the other hand, received early and strong endorsement of the National Rifle association. And will protect the right of all americans to keep their families safe. At this moment i would like to thank the evangelical and religious community because ill tell you what, the support that theyve given me, and im not sure i totally deserve it, has been so amazing and has had such a big reason for me being here tonight. True. So true. They have much to contribute to our politics, yet our laws prevent you from speaking your minds from your own pulpits. An amendment pushed by Lyndon Johnson many years ago threatens religious institutions with a loss of their tax exempt status if they openly advocate their political views. Their voice has been taken away. I am going to work very hard to repeal that language and to protect free speech for all americans. We can accomplish these great things and so much more. All we need to do is start believing in ourselves and in our country again. Start believing. It is time to show the whole world that america is become, bigger and better and stronger than ever before in this journey im so lucky to have at my side my wife, melania, and my wonderful children. Don, ivanka, eric, tiffany and baron, you will always be my greatest source of pride and joy. And, by the way, melania and ivanka, did they do a job. My dad, fred trump, was the smartest and hardest working man i ever knew. I wonder sometimes what hed say if he were here to see this and to see me tonight. Its because of him that i learned from my youngest age to respect the dignity of work and the dignity of working people. He was a guy most comfortable in the company of bricklayers and carpenters and electricians and i have a lot of that in me also. I love those people. Then theres my mother, mary. She was strong but also warm and fair minded. She was a truly great mother. She was also one of the most honest and charitable people that i have ever known, and a great, great judge of character. She could pick em out from anywhere. To my sisters, marian and elizabeth, my brother, rob robe and my late brother, fred, i will always give you my love. You are most special to me. I have had a truly great life in business, but now my sole and exclusive mission is to go to work for our country, to go to work for you. Its time to deliver a victory for the American People. We dont win anymore, but we are going to start winning again but to do that, we must break free from the petty politics of the past. America is a nation of believers, dreamers and strivers that is being led by a group of censors, critics and cynics. Remember, all of the people telling you you cant have the country you want are the same people that wouldnt stand i mean, they said trump doesnt have a chance of being here tonight, not a chance. The same people. Oh, we love defeating those people, dont we . Dont we love defeating those people. Love it, love it, love it. No longer can we rely on those same people, in the media and politics, who will say anything to keep our rigged system in place. Instead, we must choose to believe in america. History is watching us now. We dont have much time. But history is watching. Its waiting to see if we will rise to the occasion and if we will show the whole world that america is still free and independent and strong. I am asking for your support tonight so that i can be your champion in the white house, and i will be your champion. My opponent asks her supporters to recite a threeword loyalty pledge. It reads im with her. I choose to recite a different pledge. My pledge reads, im with you, the American People. I am your voice. So to every parent who dreams for their child and every child who dreams for their future, i say these words to you tonight. I am with you, i will fight for you, and i will win for you. To all americans tonight in all of our cities and in all of our towns, i make this promise we will make america strong again. We will make america proud again. We will make america safe again. And we will make America Great again. God bless you and good night i love you [ cheers and applause ] there you have it, donald trump speaking for an hour and 15 minutes. This is the longest Convention Acceptance Speech in, what, about 40 years. Bill clinton spoke in 1996 for an hour and ten minutes, george h. W. Bush in 1992 spoke for an hour and eight minutes. This is the longest speech that we have seen at any of these conventions in either party. Melania trump out on the stage, the children are now walking out. Theres baron, their 10yearold son. Baron is there. First time weve seen him out there at this convention. He came with melania today. A lot of familiar themes delivered by the republican president ial nominee as other members of his family are about to walk out on the stage. Lots of discussion of law and order, american nationalism, america first. He kept repeating that. Lots of attacks on Hillary Clinton. Jake, the family is coming out. Pretty soon well see the Vice President ial nominee and his family coming out. Jake, what did you think of the speech . Well, for those who have been not following the primaries, this is the man who won the primaries. This is the trump speech. Hes joined by his Vice President ial candidate, mike pence and his wife, karen pence, they have three adult children, michael, charlotte and audrey. So the speech was i would say this is how donald trump won. He painted a dark and a frightening picture of america, talked about a people being attacked by criminals eric talked by terrorists, betrayed by their leaders, that the game is fixed and he said he would be their voice, almost echos of Richard Nixons silent majority, especially in some of the issues hes discussed. He talked about law and order, talked about stopping ilLegal Immigration, talked about fair trade deals and bringing jobs back, he was going to revitalize the mining and Steel Industries he says and it sounds as though he promised an end to u. S. Intervention abroad and promises along the lines that hell affection the tsa but no details how hell do that. And things about foreign policy, he said Different Things at the time about dealing with gadhafi or mubarak. But we can do that later when we do more Fact Checking of the speech. Remarkable in how Many Republican orthodoxies it deviated from. Not any major discussion of god, not much of what faith has meant to him, and mention of the lgbtq community, still a mention of them and a thanks to the audience for not booing him. We saw there are some fireworks over lake erie. In addition we had a Republican Convention booing trade deals. This has been part of Republican Party dogma for decades. And we had not the talk of americas city as a shining city on the a hill, it was very much a nationalistic speech, inward looking, talking about fixing the United States, not about the United States a beacon around the world, a talk of changes and fixing the United States, a george h. W. Bush speech writer on twitter vying the United States that donald trump described as a dark and frightening place. And it was a real deviation from the ivanka trump speech right before it, wolf. And there were almost nonstop criticisms, very sharp attacks on Hillary Clinton. And it was only just beginning. Were going to be hearing a lot more about that. Anderson, a very, very forceful speech delivered by this republican president ial nominee. With a remarkable number of promises unclear exactly how he would do this, he said safety will be restored. Were going to defeat isis and fast. I will restore law and order, believe me. He talked about appointing the best prosecutors and Law Enforcement personnel to get the job done. Everyone will get treated equally, he said. Again, unclear how he will make that happen. Said Hillary Clinton wants to abolish essentially abolish the Second Amendment. John king . Interesting. We talked before the speech, its not just what you say but how i say it. Ive been in touch with a bunch of veteran republicans who say they see quite a bit a merit. The ill fight for you was a good message on the economy and he believed national and personal security was a good message that donald trump delivered but they were concerned about the tone, they said it was dark, the language was harsh and it seemed negative. They said before a new brand of compassionate conservatism, i want to get into the city, i want to help africanamericans and latinos who dont have job and then it became more of were in trouble, were under siege. They saw a lot of merits in the themes, they very worried about the tone. This was more Richard Nixon than Ronald Reagan. Ronald reagan was all about morning in america and while at the end of the speech there was some hope and optimism should he be elected, what i think donald trump was doing was appealing to disenchanted people who feel left out. And in doing so talked about a very dark america. And the state of affairs in this country as an indictment of Hillary Clinton saying her legacy was death, destruction, terrorism and weakness. Now, he did appeal to these people by saying, these voters, i am your voice, but i am not sure that he is broadening the base that he needs to get if hes going to win. Lets hear from some trump supporters. Jeffrey lord . To be honest, this reminded me of Franklin Roosevelt, 1932 Franklin Roosevelt gave a speech called the forgotten man speech, in which he went through a list of people in america that had been left out and cited the banks and sort of things that donald trump cited here. Fdr said we need to get back to common sense and business sense and last night you heard donald trump jr. Having a doctorate in common sense. This is the newest trump project to do for america here, as a builder, what he has done for himself. Corey lewandowski, just personally what is it like for you to hear that speech, to see this night, to witness i mean, you worked on this for a long, long time to make this happen. Its interesting being up here and not being down there. Its a different perspective. And i can tell you that personally its very reflective and it really a great honor to have been a small piece of what took place down there. The speech was exactly what gloria said. He talked about the problems our country has, how he wants to fix those problems, hes talking about people who dont have a voice anymore. And youve seen a man who solves problems, whether its a golf course that needs to be fixed, hes someone who gets it done. Hell bring that same type of mindset to the federal government. Dana bash, were going to hear more from our second floor. The confetti is coming down and a lot of excitement as you can see here. And the reaction here, you can see it on television, the reaction here as been theres a lot of energy. You can very much feel it in the crowd. One thing i want to say that was kind of surprising as we were standing here was to see the way these people who were not sure many of them told me theyre not sure what theyre getting with donald trump 13 months ago when they saw when he made that announcement had signed on to his message. Can you see by the balloons and excitement around here, its been a very long and winding 13 months but they feel comfortable, most of these peop people. Was it much different than the traditional donald trump speech . Hes added the notion of judicial appointments now and what that does to the Second Amendment, but if you think about the trade note, the budget issues, he talked about baum care particularly Immigration Reform and building a wall has brought this campaign to where it is today. And for republicans who thought the tone was too dark, what do you think . I think donald trump coming out of the block, has not changed who he was. Its what this campaign has been built on, which is our countrys in trouble. I can fix it, thats what he talked about, thats what he instilled in people and tease what people believe right now. Hes trying to fix that. Steve p. going from the chant you had the chant yes, we will. I think there were a couple of points on which he likely scored. Trade, its been key to his support. And on veterans im sure he did very well with that. But let be clear but, jeffrey, Franklin Roosevelt said we have nothing to fear but fear sfl. This speech was be very afraid. Very, very different. With all due respect, when you go back and read fdr speeches, hes in essence telling people they ought to be afraid. They ought to be afraid of the banks. I think i was struck by even as he was making attacks how uplifting the speech was. This was a relentlyly negative speech. Now, it may work. It may work. But even the citing of crime statistics, if you look at crime has been declining steadily, according to fbi statistics, since the 90s. You can look at specific cities, you can look at which is how donald trump portrayed it but to say that there is this that crime is the worst that its ever been the other element of the speech that i thought noteworthy, the speech was you can get everything you want and ill tell you how youre going to get it later. Ivanka even at some point said when hes elected, anything will be possible. Comparing ivankas speech, an appeal to white women, she talked about Maternity Leave and equal pay, framing herself as ambassador to women in a Trump White House and he name checked baltimore, chicago, detroit and ferguson. He said every action that he would take, he would ask himself does this make life better in those communities. I think that would be news to people in those communities. He hasnt really talked much about those people. He certainly did mention criminal justice, which is what a lot of those folks want to hear people talk about. I also thought in all of these speeches that we heard tonight, ivanka, donald trump, he talked about the little guy. Ivanka talked about looking in the newspaper and him finding some random person, bringing him to the office and helping him. Is would have been nice to hear from those average people. It would have been nice. Look, if you are a republican who came to this convention hungry for uplifting, unifying, optimistic visionary speech, youre going home starving. If youre an american who hoped to see the donald trump from the primary pivot, you are sorely disappointing. I found myself halfway through the speech wishing they would bring ivanka back. What they did today, putting joe arpaio, for most of us this guy is less popular than the zika carrying mosquito. For him to do that is a slap in the face of Latin Americans in the country. He can eat all the taco bowls he want. He did nothing but talk about Illegal Immigrants in there. He couldnt find one positive thing to say about immigrants in america . I think that this speech did nothing to grow his base. It did a lot to energize his base, it did nothing to grow his. I heard a different speech entirely. You and i apparently live in parallel universes. Were now in this universe. Were now in the trump universe. Again, anna, what i keep saying and ive said to van over the months, et cetera, enough of the identity politics. Were all americans here. Its a very difficult to thing to say to a black man when you see today a man who was shot for trying to save an autistic man from kills himself in my hometown of south florida. Anna, it is very difficult because we keep doing this. No, no, its difficult because theres nothing but fear and division. People see this and say this is about white identity politics. Theyre all americans. I mean, how many people down here, anderson, are gay . I have no idea. Ive seen one that i can tell. I mean a dwie with sequins on the jacket. My point is, who cares . Theyre all american hads here. Thats the problem. We have been parcelled out, vulcanized, everybody is supposed to fight against one another based on their sexual prerchss or race, etcetera. I came here tonight with an open heart. I think you saw that. I was prepared to hear him do something extraordinary. And never underestimate the power of a single speech to turn a country around. Ivanka was beautiful. She gave a general election speech. If you have a pulse, if you have a functioning brain stem, you should have been saluting ivanka trump. His friend, who tried to humanize him, did a beautiful job. But what donald trump did tonight is a disgrace. That was a relentlessly, even for donald trump, who at least occasionally breaks up the fear mongering with some jokes, some asides b, some amusement, he had one funny line in an hour and 15 minutes and the is rest of it was a relentlessly dark speech. He was describing some mad max america. I work in some of the toughest neighborhoods in this country and i dont know what hes talking about when he describes the country hes talking about. There was some schizophrenic psychopathic attempt to pull apart the Obama Coalition, but from a political point of view, he even botched that pep reaches out to the Lgbt Community and he says, foreign ideologies, that hate you, im against it. But the domestic ideologies, hes tore them because theyre in his platform. He says hes going to reach out to africanamericans and deal with their economic pain. Its hard to get a job if youre a community thats overpoliced and you have a criminal record. And every other leader in the country on both sides of the aisle have is talked about criminal justice. He didnt. I am actually ive never felt this way in my life. I have read in history being in moments where theres some big authoritarian movement of some leader thats rising up. And i felt that way tonight and it was terrifying to me. This speech divided the country. Youre either inspired by this or youre terrified by it. Reach out to the Bernie Sanders people tonight. He said on many occasions, he used bernies name. You also talked about, and you heard this earlier in the night, how big of an increase there has been in voter participation. And how down the Democratic Party has been. The reason for that is people are fed up with washington. Call it what you want. The basic premise is washington, d. C. Is broken. Its been broken for a long time. The people are fed up. Theyre not fed up because theyre white. Theyre not fed up because theyre black. Washington, d. C. Is broken. Until we do something to fix the government, people are going to be frustrated and what they want is they want a leader to go to washington and fundamentally reform it. That means fix our trade policies, reduce our deficit. Make our neighborhoods safe. Make sure were not going to wars that we dont belong in. If he would have gave that speech, i promise you i would have stood up and i would have applauded. That was not the speech he gave. He was not tough on waudz. He was tough on latino immigrants. On ordinary people. Am i wrong . To me im just saying the Clinton Campaign is happy tonight. I just saw a statement from the Clinton Campaign from the chairman and he just talks about more fear, more division. He says this proves donald trump is temple memntally unfit to be president. More fear and more paranoia. Obviously, theyre going to say that. To coreys point, this is the speech hes been giving and this is the speech that got him here. This reminds me of donald trump for the last 14 months. This is the operative question. Will the things that he did in the primary get him the votes he needs to win a general election and a much broader and more diverse electorate . And he is making a bet that that same message can yield enough votes to win in a very diverse country. I think thats a tough bet. You know, he was making an almost apocalyptic terms the need for change, right . I mean, the language, circling words and a crisis, danger, terror, disaster, humiliation. So right. But what he would you know, what hes doing is hes making the case for change in the stst terms ive ever heard. But its not about hope. Its about you cant do that when you have dead policemen in the streets of dallas and baton rouge, when youve got dead americans on the streets of france. Thats priceless. But the pollution that we heard tonight are not different, as corey was saying, from what weve heard before. Build a wall, you know, immigration, etcetera, etcetera. But with i found that, you know, i was looking for something, your favorite person, more reaganesque. And i didnt feel that with donald trump at all. Look, weve said this, how many times have we said this . Trump is trump. Hes going to do what he thinks is right. This is the message hes going to think works. Hes proven a lot of people wrong in the last year. The Clinton Campaign, were 115 days out. David knows the mechanics and math machinery better than me. Youve identified people. You know who is going to vote for you. Your honor who might vote for you. You know the people who you might want to turn out who might not be terribly enthusiastic for you. That is the clintons campaigns biggest worry. There are some of the afric Africanamerican Community and Latino Community who are not as excited about her. And the big worry tonight was donald trump would do something to open some minds and get a second look. They dont think he did. Are they right . Who knows. I think where was was most effective, honestly, when he said her slogan is im with her and my slogan is im with you, the American People. And when he said it, he said it a couple of times in this speech. I am your voit voice. I think thats effective. I think that was the most effective part of his seech. He is not my voice and hes not the voice of a lot of people. If youre looking for a politician who struck those kind of tones, dont talk to me about a Ronald Reagan or npr. That speech sound better when George Wallace gave it. That speech was one of the most relentlessly dark and divisive speeches in the history of this country. This is a tweet sent out by john weaver. He said hell, speeches like this are a dime a dozen. Is that the john weaver that elected senator mccain . Im just curious. I left the Mccain Campaign before mccain wouldnt the fom nation. I want to make a point about david. I want to make a point on immigration. And youll know this, john, because youre fluent in this. In every exit poll, what struck me was even in the republican primary, republicans were not really they were not really warming up to trumps immigration position. I said before, i thought he scored with the trade position and he may have touched some people with that. But there was not great enthusiasm for the wall, there was not great enthusiasm for the deportation. And hes doubled down on it tonight. And im not sure that helps him at all. It played in this room. You heard them chanting, build the wall, build the wall, build the wall. You also heard them locker up. It was interesting when they were chanting locker up, he was basically with lower hands, he was sort of putting the cabosh on it and saying lets beat her in november. They worked on that in speech prep. They did. . Yes. They asked him not to take the bait. If you look at who the speech is directed at, say to ohio, pennsylvania, states that are absolutely critical for him to win, states that are very theyve been hammered on the trade issue, the jobs have been shipped overseas, theyve left their states, the democrats have been working those mills and the coal miners specifically talked about he wants to put those people back to work, those states are what are going to compel him to the presidency in november and thats who this was designed to. Youre exactly right, but he has to win pennsylvania. Very tough. George w. Bush tried twice. Its doable, but its tough. Has to win ohio. And then what . If he cant win florida, and his home state, its going to be i think we can camp out right there. Because if he cant get those 29, where does he get them . You can do pennsylvania, ohio, florida, game over. Hes the next president of the United States. But if he loses the 29 in florida because of latinos and immigration or whatever else based are latinos, where do you get the rest . Then you have to get with wisconsin and michigan. I agree with you 100 . The rust belt with is sitting there for him. Its available to him because of Hillary Clintons position on trade. And the idea that he could go up there and he could make a good showing for himself, i thought i said from the very beginning, thats his pathway to victory and dont count him out. But he would have to be able to do that without inflaming the africanamerican, latino and other guys up there. Its not just working class white guys up there. He just consolidated. Ive got Bernie Sanders people who are now saying i mean, the last hold outs for Bernie Sanders are saying they are now for Hillary Clinton. That speech was so divisive that he did some work that Hillary Clinton couldnt do. And i just heard from some black republicans and hes going to need black republicans who are very disapointed in this speech. George bush did do well with africanamericans. Even Richard Nixon did well with africanamericans. He got 32 when he ran in 1960. But this, i think youre going to hes going to lisp, im getting texts from Republican Congress people who are saying to me, im embarrassed of my party. He sounded like a fear monger. This is not republicanism. I think a lot of republicans today are cringing in pain. Let me just say here, these are the folks who, in essence, ignited the Trump Movement because they were paying no attention to their own constituents, none, zero. Donald trump, this isnt fear. This is a statement of reality. As i said to gloria, when youve got six dead cops in the streets of dallas, texas, when youve got dead policemen, black and white in the streets of baton rouge, when you have dead americans on the streets of france, people are right to say there is something wrong and we are in a crisis. Donald trump is saying i hear you. We are in a crisis, were in a divided crisis right now. But if you think anything that man said tonight is going to solve that crisis, go listen to the speep. Go listen to the words of the trauma surgeon in dallas, the guy who was there when those five dead policemen died. Go listen to the words of the chief of police of paris. Thats the kind of thing that will get us pas past the crisis. Not this fear morninging, not this divisiveness, not this disgusting speech that we heard tonight that does nothing but bring out the darkness in america. It is terrifying. What is wrong with having sympathy for people who are murdered by people who should not be wait a minute now. But you know what, cuff a little sympathy for the people who were murdered by police in did you hear any i mean, donald trump sort of identified what he believes is the problem. Was there any solutions . Was he actually offering anything in terms of i mean, how is he going to restore law and order when he takes over . Anderson, this is a nomination acceptance speech. Its not a congressional state of the union speech. Its not going to be there shouldnt be 10,000 detail centers. It should be the vision. This is where were going to go and were going to go in this direction and this is how. But at a certain point, another what point does he actually give details where he says he says hes going to defeat isis fast, that hes going to restore law and order, that everybody will be treated equally. Lets use text right now. How is he suddenly going to restore law and order . Anderson, they will have plenty of people though flush that out. But he did say apparently hes going to appoint the best prosecutors and get Law Enforcement people to get the job done. I assume hes saying the current level of prosecutors are not very good or the Law Enforcement personnel are not up to the challenge. What hes saying is we are living in a situation here where the current government doesnt get it. Its the status quo to go back to fdr, who said that fdrs big thing in 1932 was being the first person to fly to a convention, and accept the nomination. Because before they all waited at home for it. And he gets there and he says, i came here and broke a tradition because i think its time that we break silly traditions. And some of what donald trump is talking about is breaking the traditions. This is doubling down. Can i just jeffrey. This is donald trump doubling down on his strat dwi. The line thats about and corey was talking about and john king was talking about it, which is the rust belt strategy. These are the people, the d disaffe disaffected, disenchanted, people who feel left out of any economic advantages. Ive drawn an arena so the powerful can no longer beat up on people that cannot defend themselves. Remember al gore, the people versus the side of the rest . Except the speech didnt look like that. There was a little bit of a disconnect for me there. When hes talking about the parents of sara ruth . What do you mean . Build a wall, you know what im saying . Some of the rhetoric doesnt match the noble flaw of defending the defenseless, right . What he talked about in that, and he was very clear, we heard from people whose families were directly impacted by ilLegal Immigration. And what he said was im going to stop that tr happening because you dont have a voice. Where was the voice of the u. S. Government when your family members were getting killed . An africanamerican was shot in the face. What hes saying is i am going to stop that from happening. Im going to inject myself and were going to have a Legal Immigration system. Going to reporm the process so we know who is coming in. And he points out the difference of the Syrian Refugees that Hillary Clinton wants to bring in 550 more Syrian Refugees than whats currently in place. Its a tale of two cities. First, lets have an immigration system. And the other is, hey, well let the people and well solve that problem afterwards. So, listen, im trying. Im really trying. First of all, theres two things here. There is what is said and whats not said. If you lisp to that speech and you didnt know any better, you would think that any undocumented person in this country was a rapist or a murderer. No. Let me finish. There are 11 million folks here, most of them working hard every day. They get up, they catch the early bus, do a ton of hard work for this country and if you took them out, the economy would collapse. There was no acknowledgement of that. And then the other problem you have, you saw the iraqi of your fellow republicans to this speech. The other problem, and i think you have to hear this, when you have someone like him get up there and with his law and order message is acting as if all of the violence and all the crime is coming from a particular set of people and theres no even acknowledgement that we want the police to obey the law, too. We want the police to obey the law, too. We want our kids to do better and our cops to do better. But instead, it seemed to me he was trying to have his cake and eat it too. Hes trying to pretend he was for all americans. If he would have given the speech you just gave, i would be bragging on him tonight. When he talks about the people at the top, the corrupt elites, im for that. But he gives a little bit about the corrupt elites at the top, but hes pointing to those scary dark others at the bottom, those scary muslims, those scary immigrants, and thats why people are clintons was watching tonight and her team was watching tonight and watching this entire we week, i hope that they do draw that contrast of a tale of two cities. I hope what they take out of this is that he went dark tonight and that she does offer some optimism and some vision for america. There may be people for whom this really resinates, but there are a lot of americans left wanting tonight. I am one of them. The law and order candidate is not just about the police versus the nonplus. Its about Hillary Clinton and donald trump. We have one candidate running for approximated who was under fbi investigation who many people believe that she was guilty for a crime and she got off on that. The reason for that is there are two sets of rules and thats what he talks about when he says law and order. And the law and order potential here is Hillary Clinton skirted the law and he wouldnt let that happen. I guess one of the things i mean, does he at some point, before with getting into office, need to and i dont know the answer to this. Im curious. Does he need to elaborate . How does he restore safety . How does he, you know, restore and ensure everybody gets treated equally . Those are huge statements to suddenly roms, ivanka trump saying that is possible. I dont want to put david on the spot. But i remember senator obama saying that he was going to, what, lower the oceans and he was going to do this, that and the other. You probably remember the phrase better than i. Have the oceans gn down because of Barack Obamas presidency . Well, i think if he were here, he would say thanks for the help, brother, because hes been trying to do stuff on Climate Change and hes done more than any other president has, but he met a lot of resistance in the congress. So he would argue that you cant exactly use his quote against him when republicans have tried to block most of his initiatives. Lets go back down to wolf and jay. Thanks very much. Clearly a lot of heated reaction and we have two guests here from the Donald Trump Campaign who are getting ready to answer. We have a lot of questions for them, jaip jake, dont we . We do, indeed, joining us paul banafort and Steven Miller who, with mr. Trump, was the principal author of the speech. Steven, before we get into the substance and the body of the speech, when you talked to mr. Trump about what he wanted to accomplish with the speech, what did he say . First of all, its great to be back on with both of you. Thank you. Mr. Trump felt very strongly that the center of the speech had had to be explaining how you cant have prosperity of the country if you dont have rules of law. And he spent, i would say, probably a month, at least, very indepth working on building that out. As events happened the in real life, that obviously shaped the speech. There is a lot of reaction, as im sure you can imagine. Some positive, some negative. Mary kate carrie, former speech writer for george h. W. Bush, that she thought the speech was very dark and frightening. A reaction from ari fliesher was for anyone out there who thinks it was too dark, keep in mind 69 of the country thinks the nation is on the wrong track and they will agree with it. Do you agree that it paints a dark picture of the nation . What mr. Trump said tonight, and he said it in his speech, as well, is that he was going to tell the truth. He feels the country is in a bad place. 6 of the American People think its going in the wrong direction. He wants to be honest with the American People because he feels the problem with the gridlock and the things that arent working in washington are driven by the fact that they dont tell the truth of whats going on. So he framed his vision of whats happening in the country. So it wasnt dark, it was reality. Do you think theres a group of voters that you and mr. Trushg, in writing this speech, were trying to reach . For instance, mr. Had lewandowski said he thought this speech would be very appealing to pennsylvania voters, about coal miners and steelers. Were you reach out specifically in materials of the states that your Campaign Strategy hinges on winning . Hes been talking about trade for about 30 years in these exact same ways. So the speech really, if you look at the structure, was designed to appeal to all americans. Whether youre living in detroit, ohio, pennsylvania, michigan, and i want to talk about the optimism because its important. The speechd laid out at the onset what is wrong with the country in very truthful terms. But then it presented solution toes all of those problems. And so in that sense, it was an optimistic speech. And youll notice the key point in the speech is he says tune out the voices of the media elite and the financial elite and the political elite who tell you you cant have the country you want. Dont listen to those people. Everything youve ever hoped is possible can be possible if you embrace this new direction. I want to visit your remark that he proposed solutions in a second. But first, i want to say, you think people in ferguson, missouri, would like that speech . Because thats what you i think anybody who with has suffered the debilitating impacts of crime and chaos in their lives, the failing schools, the effects of open boarders, the effects of policies would embrace that speech. To his point, what has barack obama withs policies given the people of ferguson . What has Hillary Clintons policies given the people of ferguson . When we say were going to be politically correct, the first lie were going to stop telling is that politicians have done anything for the people in ferguson. Do you think this speech will attract africanamericans and latinos to donald trump . Yes talked about the fact that he recognizes whats going on in the innercities. He understands the problems that those latinos are suffering from illegals coming over and it impacts their community, their jobs and everything else. Are they listening . Yes, theyre lisping. This is the beginning of a conversation, though, its not the end of a conversation. Well be talking specifically to all these communities. This speech didnt leave anybody out. It spoke to everyone and there are pieces of it for everyone. As someone who has been listening to Donald Trumps speeches for more than a year, there differences from what he said than what he normally said over the past year. He said we are going to build a great bohrer wall. What he didnt say is mexico is going to pay for it. Why . I think thats already a pretty well known fact. Why didnt he is mexico was going to pay for it . Thats what he says in had every speech. Actually, hes probably done seven or eight speeches where he hasnt said it. But there was a level of detail on this speech is mexico still going to pay for the wall . 1 4u7b . Will he say that again . 100 . Why didnt he is it today . The whole point is to flush out new details on immigration policy. He walked through specifically what he was going to do on immigration and how it was going to work. There are specifics here. He changed and deviated from what hes been saying for a long time. He said we Must Immediately suspensisu suspend immigration from any nation that has been comp niced by terrorism until such time has mechanisms have been put in place. What he didnt say is there is going to be a temporary ban on muslims coming to the United States until the u. S. Can figure out what the hell is going on. Why has he changed his position . He hasnt changed his position. If you go back to the speech he gave three months ago, he used the same language. This is not new language. Is he going to ban a temporary ban on muslims or people coming from countries where theres terrorism . Hes going to do what he said in this speech which is in the areas that have a history of terroristic activity, hes going to suspend immigration until a system is set up. So, steven, no more religious identify of refugees, its going to be only from country thats promote terrorism . My job is to let the subject of that speech speak for itself. You talked about appealing to voters in ferguson. This speech offers things that those voters havent heard trt Republican Party. Thats whats so great about it. Its talking to those voters in a new and different and more sincere and authentic way. I think any american will respond to that level. Dana bash is with us. She has a question, as well. You listened carefully to that speech . I did and i was sitting on the floor with the delegates who were, frankly, mesmerized by the speech. And focused on a lot of the details. And what i want to know from you all is on the whole again of lgb with tq, did you go over kind of what would happen if the crowd didnt react the way they did . Because it was a very positive reaction and that was where donald trump went off script and said that he was happy to be a republican and to have that reaction. Again, this speech reflects mr. Trumps vision for america. And he tried to make it incloougz conclusive of everyone. He spoke to that point. He spoke the truth, which he said he was going to do. He wasnt looking to get with what what speech was going to affect certain laws or certain reactions. He was building a vision for america as he sees it. He laid it out tonight and republicans, not just for him, but for peter teal, as well, responded to those chents. So weve been covering him closely since obviously last june when he first announced his president ial candidacy. A couple of things came to mind in terms of his behavior that were different from what weve seen. One, when the crowd started chanting locker up, mr. Trump almost took his hand and said, no, lets defeat her. And he didnt use the term crooked hillary. He certainly had a lot of allegations that were made and we can get into those in a second, but there was i hesitate to use the word restrapt, but it was a different kind of mr. Trump than weve seen at rallies. Did you talk to him about that, if the crowd chants lock her up, dont join in, just say lets defeat her. We didnt have to talk to him about that. There are different forms. Hes a professional. He knows exactly who he is and hes comfortable, whether its at a political rally or giving a major speech like this or giving a major policy speech at a National Press core. And this is not a new part of his personality. The this is not a new presentation. But with he knew this was an important moment. He understood the magnitude of it for the purpose of communicating through the largest audience that hes spoken to so far in this campaign and he wanted to communicate a message that was clear ask precise and showed his vision. And he did. It went an hour and 15 minutes long. I believe thats the longest president ial acceptance speech in 44 years. Was that the plan . Hes also received the most primary votes of any president ial candidate ever. Not really answering the question. Weve heard that. Almost 14 million votes and more than any other candidate in history. These vote numbers do go up as the population fwroes. But were you planning on it being an hour and 15 minutes long . I think the crowd planned on it being that long because the crowds lengthy, sustained, continuous applause over ask over again, line after line after line is what determined the length of his seech. So you didnt plan on it, but the crowd wanted it that way. Right. If you look at the length of the seech, word lengthwise, its that way. Stephen, paul, thank you so much. Your candidate won. Congratulations. Thank you. Well look forward to covering this campaign, looking forward to those three president ial debates that are coming up, as well. Look forward to the Democratic Convention if in philadelphia next week. Thanks to both of you very much for coming in. Coming up, we have the results of our instant poll of speech watchers. Did they hear anything from donald trump tonight that would change their vote . Much more right after this. Welcome back. The hall is still open. A lot of people still in it. Celebrating for what has been for them a celebratory night culminated with this speech by donald trump. Were going to check in with john berman who has been standsing by with a group of innocent voters in ohio for reaction. Hey, anderson. I was weechg this speech in realtime. They had no twitter, no commentary. So they made their view owes what they first saw. After hearing donald trump tonight, are you more likely to vote for him . If youre more likely to vote for him, raise your hands. So about half the room watched the speech and liked what they saw. Whats interesting is a lot of the commentary is about how this speech was dark and ominous. Thats not what people here really found. Jen, you hear a more inclusive donald trump tonight. He seemed a little more inclusive than hes been in the past. Usually when i hear him talk, its a lot of polarizing hateful talk, but he seemed more inclusive this time. Kent, you said you liked how he talked about what he can do. Yes. I liked the cando attitude which is a very american attitude to me. And he laid out a vision tonight. He hasnt filled in any of the ways hes going to take care of the vision, but its a great start, i think. Were going to talk about the how, how, how, because thats a negative a lot of people found in here. Nick, i want to ask you if i can, you liked how he turned the focus maybe from him back to the voters. He absolutely used the word you more. I am with you, i will fight with you, i will fight for you. I think the yo of the word you was a powerful message. On the bad side, brad, you in particular, there were some words donald trump kept on using that seemed to drive me crazy. Believe me. I have a serious problem with that. Its distrustful. What do you mean . I cant believe him. Its that simple. Everyone hear agreed with him on that. And there was Something Else interesting. I think there was a feeling in here that there was had a lack of specifics. And lisa, you said you missed the how. He talks about im going to make America Great, im going to do this, im going to do that. But he doesnt seem to have a plan and how are you going to get there . Its a great thing to say i want to do this, i want to do this, but i cant believe he has a ways and a means of getting there from here. There was another interesting positive here. Everyone here really liked ivanka. They thought ivanka did a good job on setting up donald trump. Sandy, you said hearing from the family all week was helpful. Very much so. They just were wonderful. They praised their father. They respect him. And i like 45. One last show of hands here. Raise your hand if you thought the speech was not long enough. Everyone in here thought the speech went on for a long, long time. But they sat through it watching very carefully and our thanks go out to all of them. Anderson. John, please thank them for all of us. Very nice for them to stay late, as well. I dont know. What else . I think part of this, weve gone through the particulars talking about the tone. I do think, again, there is a risk and a bet by donald trump that the safety, Security Issues that are very paramount right now, that are in the news right now, that everybody is thinking about wlb youre looking at nice, france, whether youre looking at dallas and baton rouge, that are making people think, whats going on in my community. Are we on the right track. Hes making a bet that those issues that are on the front are going to be decisive. We dont know that. The economy usually is number one. But big, jarring events rike this, especially for a challenger. Do create change environment. And youve talked about this a lot on the with the magic wall. When it comes to dealing with terrorism, when it comes to economic issues, donald trump does very well among voters. He came into this convention leading her about eight points on the economy sxleeding her by double digits on isis and terrorism. She gets more broadly on best performing on foreign policy. But he beats her on economy. You try to improve our weaknesses and look at your strength and can improve on them. I think his tone did protect. Especially on isolation and terrorism, he probably protected hilz. To reach out to sanders was smart. I was looking for a little bit more on the economy. Alg more select the dots. The issue of specifics that was mentioned in this room and that you were talking to jeffrey about is going to become more important as time goes on. And were going to have three big debates in the fall about what he talked about tonight and the way he talked about it tonight just wont fly. Hes going to have to put some meat on the bone. Jeffrey promises it, its coming. I the thought it was effective when he was talking about Hillary Clinton as the pup etd of the elite. And he is, as Jerry Fallwell jr. Said, what was it, the blue collar billionaire versus Hillary Clinton the puppet of the elite who has been in washington for decades, shes bought and sold by lobbyists and im not and i know because i used to be one of those people you know, its same old. But it does have resonance. Because of Hillary Clinton. It does. He touched on the emails. He touched on her being above the law. He wasnt as tough on Hillary Clinton as others at the convention were. There was a clear effort here on tone it down. He didnt bite on the lock her up. I think that could be effective for his voters. But it struck me about this convention, for weeks, for hoz, i think some of us have been thinking that it was going to be a very dramatic convention, possibly a violent convention. There were news organizations that handed out gas masks to their correspondents and contributors. I didnt get one of those. I know. Jeff said at most he would give us a baseball cap. I have to tell you, i think the people of cleveland, Law Enforcement in cleveland, the people in this arena did an amazing job. We shouldnt forget to thank them. And i think there wasnt the violence amongst republicans that many of us feared. I want to add something to that. I dont know if you know this, but i actually was involved in politics on the other side for a while. I heard that, yes. And i must say, i didnt know what to specific. I covered a Republican Convention years ago when i was a young reporter, but i havent been back in a long time. And people have been very, very generous and nice and warm. I appreciate that. I did drop your name. But i had the same experience. And i think that speaks very well of the kinds of people who are here. Just every day work a day republican activists is at bottom a good person, salt of the earth, even though we disagree. Here is what i think donald trump revealed to democrats. If democrats want to take him seriously, he showed his happened a bit. He thinks he can pull apart the Obama Coalition at some of its weak points. For instance he, we talk about the Latino Community, often its one thing. But there are recent immigrants who may or may not be documented and there are people from immigrant communities. There is, sometimes, a rub there where people feel like the last people off the boat are now in my way. He started trying to probe at that. I think if democrats want to hold that community together, they have to take those probes seriously. He did try to pull a little bit at the Lgbt Community. He didnt point out his own platform has a bunch of ant antiappointmeanti antiplatforms in it. But hes trying to pull. He did reemp out to black folks. He did it the in a way that cut against himself because on the onen hand he shows no sympathy for criminal justice and police reform. But he points out, hey, i want those black kids to have opportunity. Hes trying to pull that apart demographically and hes hes trying to pull away at that rust belt. Those things require sustained effort ask discipline. And if he goes back to his sort of improvisational approach to these things and leaves these things on the floor of this convention hall, theyre not going to mean much. And it requires a candidate who with has more credibility in those communities than he does. And he was trying to do that repair work. He doesnt realize that, for instance, when black people hear law and order, they hear lock black people up you. And than its actually something Richard Nixon realized. In his speech, he talked about law and order and he said, i do realize that people think thats racist. Let me ask you, though, moving forward, does the campaign continue to have big events . I mean, it seems to me what has gotten are these huge events which have been extraordinary, huge turnout. But not a Traditional Campaign. Not a lot of town hall meetings, things like that. Not a lot of retail politics, just fly in, have a huge event, do it somewhere else. Is that enough to continue going or do they have to become a more Traditional Campaign . My experience has been that fall campaigns, for the most part, tend to be this media market. In pennsylvania we have been five media markets and, you know, when you get to this stage, candidates go to one of the five, hold a rally and they leave. They dont do the entermentant type things. I think this campaign, donald trump tried to do those small intimate gatherings in new hampshire. The difference was, there were 1400, 1r5 00 people showing up unlike the jeb bush event where sometimes one showed up. And is, look, i dont think the crowd is going to get any smaller. I think what youll find is governor pence isnt going to draw as large a crowd as donald trump will. Donald trump will continue to pack out arenas. Saw him innel alabama. 30,000 peel. Will he go to baltimore, chicago . Hes been to chicago. We didnt get to do the rally. It was canceled. There was no law and order if in chicago that night. Because people didnt want to see donald trump because they think hes a big idea. Thereses a right time and a right time. To stop someone from using that, thats not the appropriate place. To take over someone elses event and cause mass rye yosts what he said was donald trump has already been to baltimore and there is no state that hes willing to compete in. So hes going to go to baltimore . Can i just make one can i just make question about where the Campaign Goes now. The campaign, the structure, the apparatus has to get better. Let me tell you some of the things that happened this week. The first thing the Campaign Manager did on day one was get into the fight with the governor of ohio, a mustwin state. Second thing he did was let melania go out there and play jarrize a speech. He let that go on for 36 hours. Fourth thing he did was let Donald Trumps speech leak out hours and hours before it was given. The other thing he did was say today that women are going to vote for donald trump because theyre worried their husbands cant pay the bills. I dont know where those husband res because i have to pay my own bills. None of that matters on election day. It matter a lot. No one listens when we all talk. David. Here is the point. These things are symptomatic. You guys ran an Extraordinary Campaign in the primary and its was very much built around donald trump, her persona, his instincts. Once you get to a general election, and we saw some of it here, some of the impacts of lack of infrastructure, lack of organization, somewhat lack of discipline. Things happen and you need to compete in a general election one need the apparatus, you need the infrastructure, and you need the discipline to compete. And i have two words. And i think youre exactly right, david. What you find is the fundraising is picking up. Their first day out with governor pence on the ticket. So that gives them the resources. As you know, that campaign was selffunded through the primary process. Donald trump spent about 47 million of his own money. Now theyre small. Theyre raising millions of dollars every day. That team will continue to grow and you saw that with the Convention Team today and all the resources the rnc will have available. And corey, i have two words that i79 to ask about which is debate prep because, of course, the next big moments are going to be the debates. And hes going to go up against Hillary Clinton, who is well versed in policy, who is terrific at debates, as you know. But is that really the next big moment . It feels like we dont know given what donald trump you know, the campaign thats been run so far well, those are the most predibltble. To his credit, he vanquished 16 other candidates who were better debaters and well versed on policy. I give the guy credit for consistency. But hes not going to change from the donald trump weve seen for the past 14 months. But the question that he is going to have to answer, i believe, in order to get selected is hes going to persuade a certain number of voters who arent with him now that he is capable of boeing president United States, that he can go beyond the rhetorical and offer ideas. Those debates will be important. I think expectations will work in his favor. I think people are assuming that he cant perform on the same stage with Hillary Clinton. That puts him in a better position. The debates are not going to save Hillary Clinton. If he does terrible at the debates, hell be fine because hes not expected to do well at the debates. If she does bad, it will be a problem for her. Theyre going to push the temperament argument. Well see what happens. When David Axelrod was a young reporter, he was around them, too. I was covering those speeches. President ial campaign res very different. When the balloons are done next week, then we have 100 days left. To the point of donald trump trying to ex suppose those cracks in the coalition and to create cracks, in the morning day in the old days, you had to knock on doors, call people on the telephone. Nowadays with data and everything else, they know their voters. They dont just know their numbers, they know who is hard, 100 . They know their names, they know where they live and they know what motivates them. What the Clinton Campaign will do after this is go back through their file. Did he move latinos in Miamidade County . Did he do anything . So the infrastructure implementation and management of the campaign, but we have to see some of the mistakes here this week. Thats important for trump going forward. We have the take a quick break. Americans watch Donald Trumps speech weigh in. Poll results, ahead. Big day . Ah, the usual. Moved some new cars. We got the results among our instant poll among people who actually watched the donald trump speech. Pretty good newser for donald trump . It is. But before we get to that news, this is a poll of speech watchers. This is not representative of all Americans Agency we normally talk about polling. So this is people who tuned in. The next thing you need to know is people who tune in to a Republican Convention are predominantly republican. So speech watchers, they are predisposed to like what theyre tuning in to see. That being said, it does tell us how he did tonight among those watches. Take a look at these results. Reaction to trumps speech, very positive reaction. 57 of speech watchers had a very positive reaction. 18 had had a somewhat positive reaction. And that adds up to 75 there. And 24 said it had a negative effect. What about whether or not trumps policies will move the country in the right direction or the wrong direction . 73 of speech watchers said it will move in the right direction. 24 say the wrong direction. And now you can see the progress donald trump made this week. Look at that 73 number. We asked this question of the same poll respondanants in our preconvention poll. Take a look at this. 60 prespeech said that trumps policies will move the country in the right direction. After watching the speech tonig tonight, that number is up to 73 . So he made progress with these folks who watch the speech today. Finally, how did trumps speech affected your vote . 53 of speech watchers are more likely to vote for trump. 10 less likely and 32 not much effect at all. Thats all pretty encouraging if youre donald trump. Yeah. And like i said, this is how he won the nonnation with these fees. And so it doesnt surprise me. And it is a very competitive president ial race. It says to me that republicans, who tuned in liked it and probably a lot of undecideds who were leaning whardz trump but maybe a little bit unsure, he in terms of temperament, he was on his best behavior. The protesters was dragged out and he just praised the police when they started chanting lock her up. He said lets defeat her. For donald trump, that was very restra restrained. Its going to be so strange because the Democratic Convention is going to step on this. But i cant wait to see what the polls in ohio and pennsylvania and florida have to say. And youll wait until the middle of august for this to settle down. But i think that even if this audience is predisposed to like donald trump, the fact that 56 , more than half of them says theyre more likely to vote for him, that is telling. Without a doubt. Again, these are his people, it is predominantly republican. But he he hit his mark tonight. He wasnt trying to close the sell. He was beginning to sell them. And i said was it too dark . He said he was telling the truth. And the people that are watching it apparently liked it a lot more than a lot of people probably thought. Coming up, trumps attacks on Hillary Clinton tonight and how she may respond at her Convention Next week. Great grains cereals are made fromreal fruit, clusters, wholesome nuts and crunchy flakes. Good things come together to make one great thing. Great grains. Why be good when you can be great . And welcome back to the final night of the Republican National convention. Some final thoughts before we go. Van. I just want to say, look, if his execution for giving that speech is hes telling the truth, all the Fact Checkers now have carpal tunnel saying that the crime has been going down. When a wall goes down a hill, it may bounce on the way down. Theres a couple of cities where its spiking, but it is actually going down. Theres a lot of things he said that can be completely untrue. I think he has his strategy, i think hes got his lan. It is to stoke more fear, energize the base that he found in the republican primary, hope to grow that base, to grow that niche of voters. And i saw very much about inclusion, very little about growing the tent in this speech. We have yet to see whether his bet works or not. As ive said many times, i have learned in the last 14 months not the underestimate donald trump and not to overestimate Hillary Clinton. Corey, you have to feel pretty good about that snap poll cnn did, predisposed to like it, but it crew the numbers. It crew significantly, actually, and whats hes talked about. One, make America Great again. Number two, america first. Identities a true philosophy that the other candidates dont think about. He talked about that at nato today. And hes talked about things that other candidateses refuse to talk about which is just because weve had trade policies in place, that have been there for 30 years, its time to make sure we are doing what is best for our country. You just have the average make America Great again, law and order, thats one of the big things. Tonight, hit the wall. If he ask people what is Hillary Clinton stan for, im if mott sure. I mean, i think it shows the marketing genius of donald trump. Im not sure that the average perpendicul perpendicular. Shes an elite, etcetera, etcetera. Fdr, as it were, i know david smiles at this. But this appeals to people, were fought talking about the new york washington corridor here. Were talking about people in place is like pennsylvania, ohio, etcetera. I think the most effective part of this speech was donald trump saying this is a nation in danger, on edge, fearful, and im your voice. But im not sure that he expanded his base in saying that. Were going to have to see how that plays out. I think the most important hinge that has been said was said by david which is we dont know and we wont know until august when both conventions are over. We have to wrap it there. Our coverage continues with don lemon at the cnn grill in cleveland right after this. [engine sounds] the Bud Light Party believes in change.
