"the allegations that have come forth today are troubling. i have never witnessed any of the activities alleged. what is most important is that this matter be fully investigated and that anyone with information be supported to come forward so that the truth can be found. i beeply regret any statements i have that may have inhibited that from occurring or been insensitive to the abuse." espn released a secretly recorded conversation can in 2002 between fine's wife laurie fine and one of the coach's accusers. on it potentially damaging evidence showing she knew about it and allowed it to go on. >> i know everything that went on with him. you trusted somebody you shouldn't have trusted. bernie has issues. maybe that he's not aware of but he has issues. somehow through mental telepathy. bernie is also in denial. i think that he the things he did, but he's somehow through his own mental capacity. you know what, go to a place where there's gay boys, find yourself a gay boy. you know, get your rocks off, have it be over with. yeah, but -- >> you know, he needs a -- that made companionship that i can't give him, nor is he interested in that. because i care about you and i didn't want to see you being treated that way. yeah. >> and it's hard for -- if it nofs girl like i told you, it would be easy to step in because you know what you're up against you're -- when when it's someone. -- >> bobby davis and his stepbrother say he molested him when he was a ball boy. laurie fine had a sex wil relationship also. fine molested him in a pittsburgh hotel when he was 13 the night before a syracuse game against pitt. toma tomaselli has his own problems. his father calls him a liar. when asked for a statement. bernie fine's attorneys released this. "mr. fine will not comment on newspaper stories beyond his initial statements. any comment from hij would only invite and perpetuate ancient and suspect claims. mr. fine remains hopeful of a credible and expeditious review of the relevant issues by law authorities." we are joined on the phone. deb, wow, a lot of twists in this. bring us up to speed. >> reporter: there really are. the one person that we have yet to hear from alaurie fine. we were at the home last night. some of the lights were on but nobody answered our knocks. what we can tell you, i spoke with one of the brothers, michael lang, the stepbrother of bobby davis. they are the first two people to step forward to accuse bernie fine of sexual abuse and both say they were abused to defense degrees. michael said the brothers revered bernie fine. as teenagers they were so close they went to this couple's wedding. that was 26 years ago and michael lang said when he heard laurie fine's conversation with his brother on that recorded tape, his hands started shaking because the account was really so similar to what he himself had experienced. and michael lang has said he wants this to play out. he wants law enforcement to get involved. there was never a formal investigation back in 2002 when bobby davis first brought these accusations to police. a detective told him the statute of limitations was up but could come in and talk to them face to face. at the time bobby davis was in utah making this call. bobby davis didn't come into the station, they basically -- there was no investigation, now they have launched an extensive investigation and they're looking at every angle of this, christine. >> all right, deb feyerick in syracuse following the story, thank you. three bodies turning up in shallow graves in ohio. they may all be the victims of a new craigslist victim. they answered an ad to be a caretaker for a farm. three were lured in for the job posting, robbed and killed. a local sheriff says there are two suspects in custody connected to those killings. the family of a drum major who died after a suspected hazing incident now plans to sue the school. they're holding a news conference. 26 robert champion died after a football game last weekend. he reportedly had been throwing up and complaining he couldn't breathe before he collapsed. no one has been charged but the university suggested dangerous band hazing may have been a factor. the school has fired the longtime band director but he's hired a lawyer to fight for his job. time running out for more wall street protesters. hundreds were told to take their tents and leave by midnight on the west coast but more showed up overnight. many of them haven't budged planning instead to hold an eviction block party. no violence reported so far. in philadelphia, the deadline also came and went for up philly protesters. hundreds gathered outside city hall with their arms blocked as the 5 p.m. deadline bracing for a police sweep. president obama hitting the road this week telling lawmakers not to raise taxes on working families during the holidays and also talking about the next big fight ahead on capitol hill if congress doesn't act 1221 million family cost see an average $1,000 tax increase but some republicans say it hasn't been what it was meant to do, create jobs and the extension has to be offset by spending cuts to pay for it. three american college students arrested during egypt's violent crackdown are back in the united states talking about what happened to them. they were released on friday. the students were accused of throwing molotov cocktails but they deny they did that or anything wrong. one of them, derrik betwesweenes he was roughed up in police custody. >> if we tried to resist at first we nail on the head. this is the absolute major question. really all the way around the world. as you said we've got some reasonably good news out of the real economy in the united states over the weekend and might get more in terms of the jobs market. but basically those are side issues compared to this issue of where is this european debt crisis going? in particular, european leaders, are they going to be able to get on top of it because they've been slow in getting ahead of it. it seems to have overtaken them making what feels like belated efforts to get ahead of it. talking about some progress made behind the scenes, even speculation 30% of european sovereign bonds could be underwritten in effect by governments but we really need to see exactly what is going to happen. meanwhile, i think what's ruining the market is a lot of speculation, a lot of media reports, some of which are denied and some of which are not even confirmed, christine. >> a lot of headlines fatigue. people say we're still talking about -- explain to us again why it is so incredibly important for europe to really -- these leaders to fix this? i mean, it's not overstating it to say that the consequences could be dire. >> no, i think you're absolutely right. if we look at the much, much bigger question here, the effect we're seeing is it's going to be -- of course, you have -- what we're looking at is the problem of commercial banks, if commercial banks suffer an enormous default on spain or italy and can't rule either of those out, if they suffer that they will be in a situation where they would effectively be forced into bankruptcy. in the banks are forced into bankruptcies, we could see runs on bank and the whole financial system collapse and u.s. banks would not be immune from this. clearly the european banks particularly those in france but also in germany, but u.s. banks would suffer and the whole global financial system could in the worst case scenario be brought to a grinding halt as a result of defaults on major nations' sovereign debt. >> so many watching the stock markets. they're much more important. how countries borrow money to fund their day-to-day operations. chance, charles. the use of drone aircraft over u.s. skies appears to be closer to becoming a reality. according to the "l.a. times" the faa plans to propose new rules for the use of small drones in january. they would eventually allow police departments to stop runaway criminals on rooftops or tra them down. farmers think they could aid with spraying pesticides and utility troubles facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy in maine. in 2009 and 2010. tomaselli's own father calls him a liar and denies ever meeting fine or letting his son take a trip with the coach. when asked for a statement bernie fine's attorneys released this to us "mr. fine will not comment on newspaper stories beyond his initial statement. any comment from him would steinhauser joins me. >> these endorsements, do they matter? i think this one does. new hampshire, the first in the face primary state, the second state to vote after iowa and "the union leader" is probably the most influential newspaper in the state. here's what the publisher said endorsing gingrich. he said newt gingrich is by no means the perfect candidate, maybe that's not so rousing off the bat but voters too often make the mistake of prefer an n unattainable ideal to the best candidate who is actually running. how is their track record? of the last six elections they've only gotten it right twice. you have to go back to 1980 when they endorsed ronald reagan who won the election. where does it tan in new hampshire? the most recent polling from the university there, remember, he was governor of neighboring massachusetts but up to 15% and continues to rise in that state. >> that's the thing about endorsements. who you want to be president but not who you think will end up becoming president. gingrich is going up but cain going down in the polls. what he blaming for his numbers? >> not himself. he is blaming others and saying people are taking him out of context when it comes to the sexual harassment allegations and stance on abortion. look what he told can dry crowley yesterday. >> what do you think has gone wrong in the past month or so? >> well, obviously false accusations and confusion about some of my positions has contributed to it and, you know, that was to be expected. in terms of the campaign itself, nothing has gone wrong in terms of our strategy of spending time in iowa, new hampshire and south carolina and florida so in terms of the mechanics of the campaign nothing has gone wrong but as you know, candy, some people are heavily influenced by perception more
