tacloban is already being hit by rain. joining us right now, andrew stevens joins us on phone. andrew, where are you? give us a sense and what you're seeing. >> just coming into the outskirts of tacloban actually. about 100 kilometers or so. we've been driving along the coast. even though tacloban is not in the direct hit zone for this typhoon, authorities certainly here taking no chances at all and reading the local newspapers and my colleagues speaking to the mayor of tacloban, they have been getting people out of all the areas which could be particularly to a storm surge. with typhoon haiyan last year, 6300 people died. many killed by a wall of water, some six to eight meters high which came through the low lying areas. this time around, authorities have moved.
