>> and i'm curious when it comes to the new taliban government, the acting cabinet that we've seen, some names on that list obviously very concerning for a number of americans in terms of terror ties. in terms of recognizing that taliban government. your thoughts on where the u.s. moves at this point? >> well, i certainly hope that we do not recognize this government until we see their actions. it is very concerning. look, we know how the taliban acts and what they do on human rights, on women's rights, on girls. we also know they're included in their cabinet people that have committed terrorist acts. this is not a government that we want to give our stamp of approval to. we understand we have to have conversations, we have to be able to conduct some affairs in order to get people out of afghanistan, but i would urge the administration to be very cautious about giving credibility to this government. >> senator ben cardin,
