"newsroom" starts now. -- captions by vitac -- www.vitac.com good morning, i'm brianna keilar in today for carol costello. thank you so much for joining me. this morning, the white house appears to be taking texas governor rick perry up on his request for a meeting with president obama to address the border crisis. in a letter, obama adviser valerie jarrett writes the president would "welcome the chance to talk to perry." it also invites perry to a meeting with a group of faith leaders in dallas. president obama will be in texas tomorrow for a series of fund-raisers. earlier, perry refused to greet the president at the airport, a somewhat customary gesture saying it would be, in his words "nothing more than a tarmac handshake that doesn't address immigration." president obama still has no plans to visit the u.s./mexico border during his visit. that's a decision criticized by lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.
