Americas colleges are on alert after several threats of violence right across the country. That includes at least a dozen historically black colleges that received bomb threats on the first day of black History Month. In minnesota one student is dead and another critically injured after shooting at the south education center. Authorities arrested two suspects tuesday evening and heres what happened earlier. Have a look. Officers arrived and discovered two students had been shot on the sidewalk outside of the school. Officers quickly determined that the suspects had fled the scene immediately after the shooting took place, unfortunately, one of the students succumb to his injuries. The other student remains in Critical Condition at this time. The Center Offers Special Education and alternative learning programs. About 200 students attend through the age of 21. In another incident, two officers were shot to death on the campus of bridgeport college in virginia. They had responded to Emergency Calls about a suspicious man on campus. After a brief interaction, the man shot them and ran away. One student described hearing the attack. We were all just sitting in our class and all of a sudden we heard a gunshot. We thought maybe someone ran into something, and then all of a sudden we heard another two and everyone just dropped to the floor. We all just dropped and waited in the building, barricaded ourselves and waited it out until everyone got here to help us. Virginia residents said they were shocked seeing officers arresting the 27yearold suspect. Hes now facing murder charges. Inperson classes will resume at ucla today after authorities arrested a man tied to an 800 page manifesto. He was taken into custody after colorado authorities were notified about the mans presence likely at ucla. Cnns joe johns has the threats to historically black colleges. Reporter investigators believe numerous threats throughout the area and throughout the nation were coming in targeting several historically black colleges and universities. Reporter the nations historically black colleges and universities are on alert. At least 18 hbcus have had Class Disruptions in the past two days due to bomb threats. No explosives have been found. Most unsettling for the students to have to address this. So the emotional and Mental Health and wellbeing of our students is of concern. Reporter the barrage of threats on the Campus Disruption they caused garnering national attention, including from the white house. We are working in close coordination with our Law Enforcement authorities and ensuring that the leaders of these institutions and the students know that we are watching closely and that we are standing with them as they face these threats. Reporter state and local Law Enforcement approaching the problem on a casebycase basis. Spellman college in atlanta telling cnn city police will increase their patrols around campus. This wave of bomb threats, the latest in a string that began in early january. The fbi announcing investigations are ongoing with other Law Enforcement agencies including the federal bureau of alcohol, tobacco and firearms. Lawmakers also taking the threat seriously. With the House Intelligence Committee terrorism adam schiff and congressman andre carson releasing a joint statement saying, we will remain focused on ensuring that all appropriate resources are utilized to combat the scourge of White Supremacist violence and terrorism. Covid19 vaccines to children ages 6 months to 5 years. Lets take a look at the details. Pfizer says if the vaccine for children this young is authorized, it would be given in two shots. It will be 21 days apart and then the third shot at least eight weeks later. The dosage will be much lower for these little children. 3 micrograms, not 30 like for adolescents and adults. Their fda application at this point is only for two shots. They dont have the third shot data quite yet. They say the data on that third shot is expected in the coming months. Now this application comes at a time that polling data shows that many parents of children this young arent very enthusiastic about giving a covid19 vaccine to their children. Lets take a look at what the kaz Kaiser Family foundation found. Last month they polled 162 parents of children this age, only 3 in 10 said they would get their child vaccinated right away. So if the covid19 vaccine is authorized for children this age, it looks like the fda and pfizer and the cdc will have a fare amount of work in front of them convincing parents to vaccinate their children. Sports and cultural venues can take Maximum Capacity as long as people inside are Wearing Masks on the 16th Of February in france. Nightclubs will reopen but theyre not going quite as far as denmark. In italy, for instance, we are expect being some slight easing of restrictions but basically what is going on is i think the authorities are becoming accustomed to the fact that theres a High Percentage of the population that is now doubly vaccinated. France is 76 . Italy is 77 . And the Omicron Variety is clearly more mild than previous, far more deadly varieties. The prob sblem because of the disparate between the developed countries where you have Vaccination Rates in the 70 and 80 range and other countries where its in the single digits, you could very easily see the emergence of a new deadly variant and the developed countries clearly are doing very little to address that gap between those two situations.
