>> kaitlan collins is "outfront" tonight. the president knows the optics are 234not good. he called president obama out all the time for this. it appears he doesn't care about the optics. >> reporter: it was two trips the president spent at his golf course spending four hours today opening him up to criticism from people like pete buttigieg that said he would be so busy working he wouldn't have time for golf. now the white house is pushing back on this saying that the president was still being briefed on the hour by officials on the updates of hurricane dorian, even while at the golf course today for four hours but erin, the president is facing criticism for other comments he made about the storm approaching the u.s. including his surprise yesterday at the fema headquarters here in washington when he said he couldn't believe that this storm is going to be a category five saying he didn't know that was a category for these storms, and he just in general expressed surprise at the intensity of it.
