would tank. i think though, and we all agree that there's almost certain passing of this continuing resolution and debt ceiling legislation, the important thing is that the world's view of the united states, the political process, the currency and ultimately the economy has been damaged by all of this. and much of the world looks at us, at americans like the new york times mentioned this morning, mexicans do as spoiled little rich kids. as we kick this can from october 17th to early next year, there will be a cost to us in the form of higher interest rates and lower stock prices than otherwise would be the case. you look at so many countries. they can't pay their debt. we can and choose not to. there is something deeply offensive about that. what would success mean? given that success in this case, in passing this bill, is simply delaying a moment like this for another three months.
