Today youre globetrotting. The message from abb is what then . The message from abb is that 2017 will be another year of volatility and of uncertainty and that they need to try to navigate through that and try to sustain the momentum in large orders. As you pointed out, the large orders and the order base has returned. Morgan stanley pointing out in a note this morning that the Bigger Picture is that abb returned to growth despite the lingering concerns about orders. Keep in mind that they have plenty of problems with the power grids unit that was the center of the discussion as to whether or not it would be spun off or not. Abb decided in october they would stick with this division. That seems to have paid off. In the Fourth Quarter that division saw order growth of 15 . On top of that, you have the uncertainty coming from the u. S. On the one hand you have optimism around jobs being added, around taxes being cut for corporates. On the other hand, you have immigration band, you have protectionism. So which of the two would outweigh each other . I put that question to the ceo of abb, he said the u. S. Is a Growth Market for us and we continue to invest in that market. The other key market for abb is china. In the First Quarter we saw orders growing by 9 . The only issue for abb is Going Forward in 2017 it will be facing difficult comps. Again, the co is confident they can deliver well in that market. The rbi said it was change its stance to neutral from accommodative. That hitting our wires about 15 minutes ago. Lets get more out of asia. Pauline is in singapore. Hi, pauline. Good morning to you. This decision to keep rates on hold did not sit well with investors on the nifty. We saw the nifty drop by 0. 6 after the rbi announced it would keep rates on hold. Its gaining back some ground. Now down 0. 3 . This was the second meeting in a row to keep rates on hold. It was a unanimous decision, before this decision analysts had been split. One camp said inflation is at a twoyear low, so it gives breathing room to the central bank. The other camp said take more time to measure the impact of demonetization. We can see the impact on the nifty in negative territory. For the broader markets in asia, a change of sentiment by the afternoon session. Lets start with the shanghai composite. It was trading in negative territory for most of the morning. After the lunch break we saw this turnaround. The negative sentiment in the morning was because investors were digesting that drop in fx reserves for january. By the afternoon we saw a rally led by financials it was as if investors said we dropped below that 3 trillion mark. Lets put it into perspective. The drop in january was much less than the drop in november and december. So we saw financials leading the rally there. The hang seng up by 0. 6 . Another turnaround on the nikkei. We saw the nikkei end up half a percent off the back of strong earnings revisions and a slow down in the strengthening of the yen during the session. Back to you. Thank you very much. Getting back to earnings news in europe. Maersk shares have been sinking. Theyre around the bottom of the stoxx 600 after posting a 2. 7 billion loss dragged down by impairment charges. We ran the wrong sound bite a couple moments ago. The maersk group ceo telling cnbc that Higher Oil Prices could give a boost to the shipping giant. If the oil price were to increase or maintain this level where we are now, which is up from the beginning of 16, then separating out oil and Energy Related businesses, all things equal, it will be easier for us. There will be more deal momentum in the market. So a better performing oil business and Higher Oil Price will in all likelihood enable us to separate those businesses and enable us to focus entirely on container shipping logistics and ports. Shares have been trading lower in carlsberg. The danish brewer experienced difficult Market Conditions in the russian and Eastern European markets. Net profit for 2016 rose to 4. 5 billion danish krona. Carlsberg proposing 10 a share. We will speak to the companys ceo at 11 00 cet, so around 40 minutes time. Rio tinto shares heading higher after it reported a return to profit. The australian miner beating estimates as underlying earnings hit 5 billion, and 1. 70 a share was announced. Rio tinto is saying it will buy back up to 500 million worth of shares this year. In the pharma sector, syngenta said it made significant progress in the Regulatory Approval of its takeover of chemchina. Expecting to close the deal in the second quarter. This as the swiss agri business reported mixed fullyear earnings. Syngenta posting a 12 drop in net profit to 1. 8 billion and proposed to emit a regular dividend for 2016. The disney ceo, bob iger delivered some support to the companys shares after saying hes open to extending his term as chief executive officer. The comments helped pare initial losses as disney reported lower than expected revenue during q1 weighed down by weakness at espn. We were talking about this yesterday. One area of strength was the companys theme parks. We spoke exclusively to the disney ceo and asked for his opinions on president trumps immigration ban. Take a listen. This nation was founded by immigrants. And i think where we are as a nation is due to having an openness to people of the world. It is incredibly important. And i have and i firmly believe that we cannot shut our borders to immigrants. And so i think a fair and just immigration policy is good for our country and good for society. All right. Lets bring it back home to europe once again. French and italian tenyear bond yield spreads over germany struck fresh multiyear highs as european Political Risks weigh on some minds. Theyre not doing enough, thats the imfs view on greek reforms as talks continue to get the fund to rejoin the bailout program. Investor jitters over debt payments due in june an july pushing the greek twoyear yield to the highest level in over seven months. At one point going through the 10 mark. The imf board of directors is split over how much of a surplus it needs to see in the greek budget to reconsider supporting the country. The chief Market Strategist from hsbc bank joins us. Greece, with yields at sevenmonth highs, above 10 as we just saw. These debt payments due in june and july, how much of a greek story do you think well have to revisit in the next coming months . We think theres going to be a deal. Probably still this month and before the duck elections. Obviously the european calendar is very important. So i think you need to see it in the context of the broader european risk that were having. So you see french yields on the french president ial elections. We think the French Elections are the crux here. The question is how far le pen gets, how much support she gets in the first round and who is the second candidate. How do we position ourselves heading into this risk . We have been underweight europe. We have an overweight on the u. S. And emerging markets. We continue to hold that and think the euro will go to 1. 01 ahead of the elections. If the core case is realized that we dont have le pen coming into power, the euro rebounds. You think euro is where we will see most of the reaction and Political Risk story painted out . For the moment were seeing it in the bond market, in part because its such an asymmetric profile, you have the down side. So people look at that as a cheap protection. Clearly there is the euro because the questions come back very much a tail risk in our view, but the questions come back to the unity of the eurozone, especially in the case of le pen coming into power. So were going to see a correction there into euro. Then the implications for equity markets for credit are more muted because we have the ecb, which is probably keeping that eurozone together or confidence together. Very simple question. Do you think the equity rally will continue . We have a mutual overall on the equity market, which sounds boring. Most forecasts are for the 3 , 4 , 5 level returns for the year. That equates to neutral. We need to pick and choose. We have a barbell approach. We take risk in america, in some of the cyclicals, in europe we are defensive, more in terms of value. Then we have hedges. We like gold. We think it will go to 1,390 and we like hedge funds. We think they can benefit from the value trades we have over here, the direction of the markets. Gold will go to 1,390 even with the stronger dollar . We think the dollar has a bit of upside in the first half where we still have the inflation rate. But in the second half we will have what we call trump light, which is basically a period where the Economic Growth impact is going to be slow. And also maybe he will need to compromise in congress. The dollar comes down at that point in time. We also have yields coming down. Dont know if youre aware of our Global Research forecast, 1. 35 for the tenyear, that should help gold as well. I have been reading your research all week. You make some interesting points. You say con scensus consensus i yields, but that it could come down. Structural factors are always more point. You need a trigger to come down. Structural factors bring it down to the debt levels we have around the world which limits it to the stimulus we can give. Investment spending is too low. The growth levels, we are only looking for 2. 5 growth globally. Still below the historical averages. The aging population, all of that really keeps bond yields down. You never historically go after a 35year rally, you dont go in a v shape, yields higher. You need to go around the bottom first. The pound continues lower on brexit worries . Brexit is the continued driver. You need to go through the european elections where there will be hard ball tactics that will hurt sentiment against sterling. We have a 1. 10 forecast against the u. S. Dollar. That is therefore in line with the euro. You have parity turning euro towards the end of the year. We would like you to come back on, kind of give you a snapshot of all the research you put out. Thank you very much. Abb shares sink iing not sure i would call it sinking, but lower 2 . They put an end to their near twoyear decline on orders. Abb delivered growth, which was a very, very important ambition that we had for a while. You might remember last time it was First Quarter 15 we didnt grow. Now were back in. And we are putting now all the emphases to keep that and have a sustainable ambition to keep the order trend. How much visibility have you got for 2017 given that we have so much Political Risk going on. Can you keep those large orders but also the base orders going . One thing we can keep is sustainable ambition to deliver orders. The world is full of uncertainties at the moment. We have volatility in every corner. Its something that we need to navigate through with a steady hand. Our next level transformation is paying off. Results show it. The Power Grids Division is delivering. Now its up to us to make this sustainable Going Forward. Davos said there was uncertainty given the incoming administration. Now we had two, three weeks of the new administration, it seems like theres a lot of uncertainty still. Theres concern about the immigration ban, protectionism. Does that outweigh the positives of tax reform . We export very little, we import very little, we are very strong in the u. S. We opened a new robotics plant 18 months ago. We are open to drive competitiveness of american customers and well positioned to incoming investment infrastructures that have flagged. I think its important to use the investments wisely that we have had over the past couple of year. Coming up, the ceo of handelsbanken, the ceo of Nexgen Energy. World markets live is our blog. And you can find us on twitter, louisabojesen or at streetsignseurope cnbc. Com. N hi everybody. Good morning. Welcome back. Youre still watching street signs. Im louisabojesen. Here are your headlines this morning. Maersk names its new chairman. The shipping group cuts its dividends after impairments result in a near 2 billion net loss sending shares to the bottom of the stoxx 600. Investors dismiss a turnaround in orders for abb as the swiss industrial giant misses expectations on sales. The ceo tells cnbc hes remaining cautious for 2017. The world is full of uncertainties at the moment. We have volatility at every corner. Its something we need to navigate through with a steady hand. Our next level transformation is paying off. Results show it. The Power Grids Division is delivering, now its up to us to make this sustainable Going Forward. Rio in recovery. The commodity bounce back boosts rio tinto earnings as the mining giant raises its dividend and launches a share buyback. And carlsberg shares sink after Fourth Quarter sales miss estimates. The danish brewer warns of difficult Market Conditions. We will speak to the ceo of carlsberg at 11 00 cet. Hi everybody. Welcome back. As we like to do at this still early hour, if you are joining us from the states, five hours away from the beginning of trade where you are, and we want to show you how u. S. Markets are indicated to hope. The implied open being slightly higher as seen there on your screen on the righthand side. Thats what were seeing with regards to the fair values when looking at europe, slightly mixed picture out there on our European Equity markets, with the cac 40 bucking the trend a bit. Pointing us a slight bit higher along with the xetra dax. The ftse 100 in the uk and the ftse mib trading lower. The fx markets, again, quite a bit of activity in the euro dollar in trade this week. The euro lower a percentage point this week against the greenback hurt by worries over the French Election and whether or not le pen could win. Shes a big fan of taking france out of the euro and the eu. That would be interesting for euro trade. The dollar has been falling since trump indicated hes not happy about japans currency stance against the yen. That trade right next to the euro dollar. Got trump meeting the japanese Prime Minister, shinzo abe later this week on friday. No doubt, one would guess or hope, theyll be talking about trade and currencies. So we might get more from them at that point. In healthcare, shares of sanofi are trading higher after lower restructuring costs more than doubled Fourth Quarter net profits from a year earlier. Net income edging down by 6 , total sales rose by 3 . The french drugmaker expects earnings per share to remain stable or decline by up to 3 in the current year. Lets talk more pharma. Brian magee is an engagement manager at novo sector. Quick work on sanofi . I think its a positive result for them that they came out of 2016 looking healthier. 2017 struggles ahead. A lot of pressure for them to do a deal in some capacity. They looked at actelion and didnt quite get there. We have to wait and see how they come out of 17. Any indicators on who they could be doing a deal with . Its very difficult to say. I think value at the minute and pharma the valuations have gone sky high. They more than doubled since 2015. I think value is in the eye of the beholder. Its for them to figure out who they would like to buy. Glaxo smithkline, youre stating pharma m a in general is too expensive what is driving glaxo at moment . Thats our position that we think the prices are too high. The collaboration with novartis where they swapped assets to generate scale is an interesting precedent in that space, the kind of deal that everybody refers to as a bit of a unicorn. They all want do something similar. Gsk at the minute are getting benefit from the weak pine. Im sure andrew witty will be happy to retire on a high of eight consecutive quarters of beating expectations. And the new person in charge, what do you think her main focus should be taking over at this stage . I think the question about her will be around the lack of rnd direct experience, but hiring luke meales is a positive thing to fill that capability question. I think she will bring more intensity around strategic marketing, real kpi driven discipline in that business which fits well with their new volume first strategy. What do you think investors will be looking out for in glaxo numbers . Whats the keys . The pipeline still or r d costs which have been moving up if you look across the pharma sector. Yeah. I think theyll be looking across a basket of different things. Probably the biggest indicator is how are the new assets coming on stream and replacing lost revenue from advair, which is expecting a generic in the u. S. Market soon. So solid growth in the nucala portfolio, the focus that people will want to see performing. Signals around r d delivery continuing. Im super interested in the deal that they made with vereley to buy alphabet, the global parent, they unveiled the new Company Called gelvani. Its all about Bio Electronics medicine, which depending on the research you read could be the big break through in medical equipment in the future. How much more focus do you think glaxo will put in this area . Its an exciting space that they have gone into. Its headed up by a guy called chris fam, a real genius. Hes a visionary, he saw this early, brought it up the food chains, and its now resulted in this spinout relationship with what was google. Its moonshot science, but the early indicators are fascinating. It could become a whole new industry. Its cancers, artificial limbs, blood glucose meters, so you can measure your levels at home instead of going to the hospital. Youre saying look out for that still. I think its the kind of thing, if you can imagine it you can probably do it. It will change the world if it works. Always the if, right . If it works. Brian, thank you very much. Brian magee, engagement manager at novasecta. The uks brexit bill enters its last day of debate today with the government confident that the legislation will pass the third and final reading when mps vote later on. Debating a fresh round of amendments yesterday, Prime Minister theresa may endured a rebellion from several conservative mps that demanded that parliament be consulted on the final brexit deal. Betsy devos, president trumps nominee for education secretary was confirmed by the senate after mike pence cast a historic tie breaking vote, the first ever by a Vice President to confirm a cabinet nominee. Two republicans voted in opposition to devos alongside all 46 Democratic Senators and two independents. But as Vice President , pence also serves as the president of the senate, with the duty to cast the tie breaking vote in the event of deadlock. The vote did follow an overnight debate staged by Democratic Senators who hoped to derail the nomination and raise Public Awareness of what they view as her unpreparedness for the post. Now, another debacle as well expected to carry on well through the night. This time on the nomination of the alabama senator, jeff sessions. President trumps pick for attorney general. Youre seeing live pictures of the senate floor in washington. Earlier in the evening republicans interrupted the massachusetts senator, elizabeth warren, after she quoted an excerpt of a letter written by the widow of the slain civil rights leader, Martin Luther king junior criticizing the alabama senators character. Republicans then voted to forbid warren from speaking during the remainder of the debate drawing outcry from democrats. Mr. President mr. President majority leader . The senator has impugned the motives and conduct from alabama. Senator warren said senator sessions has used the awesome power of his office to chill the free exercise of the vote by black citizens. I call the senator to order under the provision to rule 19. Mr. President . Senator from massachusetts. Mr. President im surprised that the words of Coretta Scott king are not suitable for debate in the united states. I ask to continue my remarks. Is there objection . Object. President trumps executive order banning citizens of seven predominantly muslim countries faced intense scrutiny from a threepanel judge from the 9th u. S. Circuit of appeals. Lawmakers said they would issue a ruling as soon as possible, probably coming later this week. Pete williams has the latest. Reporter as the trump travel restriction remained on hold for a fourth day, immigrants rushed to get here. My family is here with us safe. Reporter concerned it could be enforced once again. In a telephone Conference Call in san francisco, lawyers for the Justice Department made the case that the stay should be lifted after it was imposed by a judge in seattle on friday stopping enforcement of the executive order. The executive order at issue puts a temporary pause on entry from individuals from seven countries that congress and the last president determined in a similar context posed special risks in terms of terrorist infiltration into our country. Reporter but a lawyer for the state said the executive order violates the law and hurts economically. It has always been the judicial branchs role to say what the law is and serve as a check on abuses by the executive branch. That judicial role has never been more important than it is today. But the president is asking this court to abdicate that role here. And the new secretary of Homeland Security regrets not telling Congress Earlier about the executive order, though he thought it went smoothly. I should have delayed it a bit so i could talk to members of congress, particularly leadership of committees like this. Reporter he said the seven countries named in the executive order were chosen not because theyre muslim, but because, like iran, they have been declared state sponsors of terrorism or like libya, lack a functioning government and are incapable of providing Accurate Background information on people who want to come here. Handelsbanken has been trading near the bottom of the stoxx 600 after posting disappointing earnings. The Company Reported a quarterly operating profit and an annual dividend below expectations. Loan losses jumped weighing on Fourth Quarter results. Anders bouvin joins us from handelsbanken. Good to have you here with us on street signs. Talk me through your latest results. Fourth quart ever profits and a dividend slightly missing forecast. Whats the story . Well, thanks for the question. If you look at the Fourth Quarter result, i think the Fourth Quarter was a very Strong Quarter for the banks core business, both on Net Interest Income and our fee income with the highest ever recorded in handelsbanken history. So we move into 2017 with good momentum and we see growth in all of our markets to be honest. The loan losses as you mentioned for the quarter were higher than normal. And but this is fully contributed to one isolated and well known credit exposure in denmark. Besides that, our underlying credit situation is very good over the year. Very low credit loss of 0. 09 . How about loan losses, anders . Loan losses are 0. 09 , same as last year. But as i mentioned for the quarter higher than we are used to. But that refers to once again one isolated well known credit. I spoke to the danske bank cfo a couple days back in conjunction with their results. He was indicating theyre seeing in denmark at danske bank, that Retail Investors are holding back on actively getting in on Financial Products out there. At the same time you have Institutional Investors being more active. What are you seeing in sweden . In sweden we see quite good momentum to be honest. If we look at results in sweden, income is up and costs are down, operating profits, compared with the same quarter last year, 2015 is up 18 . So we see good growth in sweden. We see ligslight margin increas on the mortgage side. Our swedish operation is going very well. That goes for the sme market, too . Would you characterize smes as being healthy at the moment . I think so. We see this growth across actually. The mipolitical situation currently, the Global Political environment, how is that impacting you as a Business Leader . How is it impacting you doing business in the Financial Services industry . We have a rather large operation in the uk. If we look at brexit, we cant see that at all influencing growth in the uk. Customers are drawn to handelsbanken for the same reasons today as they were before brexit. But i agree with you, in a more general level, there are uncertainties out there in the near future, both in europe and with regards to the new administration in the u. S. Therefore, i think, its very good that we have a Strong Capital position and were well prepared to support our existing growth further on, even if there are to be some headwinds. Anders, thank you very much. Anders bouvin, ceo of handelsbanken. Coming up on street signs, Nuclear Power on the agenda well talk uranium. The ceo of Nexgen Energy is with us to explain more after this. Hi everybody, welcome back. Youre still watching street signs on cnbc. Im louisa bojesen. The Investment Bank moelis has been chosen as the sole adviser for the listing of saudi aramco. Saudi aramco is expected to be valued at 3 trillion when it comes to market. Moelis will assist on the flotation, but other banks are in a race to underwrite the offering. Oil prices have been moving a bit lower after falling in yesterdays trade. The rout was triggered in part by data from the American Petroleum institute showing u. S. Crude inventories rose by more than 14 Million Barrels last week. A report on slowing chinese demand for crude also weighing on prices. So people questioning whether or not the market remains oversupplied, by the looks of things it possibly does. With Global Demand for uranium increasing and with the current supply chain at risk, my next guest says new sources of production are needed by 2020, thats bond traditional producers like russia, kazakhstan and china. Lee kreer is ceo of Nexgen Energy. Why is the supply chain at risk . The world has been relying heavily on supply from kazakhstan, which currently accounts for around 40 of the worlds mined uranium. Since 2011 they undertook a very expansion program, which saw quadrupling of their program between 2011 and 2016. It now accounts for 20 of production and its very concentrated. You have a very focused supply of uranium in a country with significant sovereign risk. You point out that chinese utilities hold about 40 of the utilities as well. Its concentrated with where it is and who has it. Exactly. If you remove chinas inventory levels, the rest of the Nuclear Fleet around the world has inventories of less than three years on hand. Why the risk in terms of the supply chain . A political thing . What happens russia is also a big holder. If the Political Risk environment heats up that has an impact on the flows . Correct. You have a significant Political Risk, sovereign risk. You have a significant technical risk on the supply. Bringing on Uranium Mines takes upwards of eight years. Theres a lot of future demand of uranium unaccounted for with respect to that mine supply. We often think of uranium as bad stuff. What is it used for primarily . Primarily for electrical generation in Nuclear Reactors around the world. Are we seeing changes in depends of Nuclear Energy happening at a faster level than anticipat anticipated . Its undergoing quite the resurgence. A lot of count ares recognizing the Nuclear Power as the base load supply of electricity, thats emissions free. We have significant problems in asia, in china where they are cutting down schools and sporting events, so the demand for Nuclear Energy is increasing in europe. In the u. S. , theyre extending reactor licenses, Building Four reactors. Theres a rollout in the middle east of Nuclear Reactors. Its undergoing a resurgence as we speak. You said germany expected to triple independence by 2024. Not so in the uk . The uk is developing Hinkley Point which will provide a strong percentage of the Overall Energy in the united kingdom. Yes, france continues to lead france and europe and the world as having nuclear as a significant weighting of energy mix. Germany and spain also looking to increase their reliance on Nuclear Power. How would you say the best way to invest in uranium is these days . You can invest in a number of companies that are currently producing uranium. Chemico in canada is the worlds leading pure uranium company. Ourselves, were developing a project which has the profile of becoming the worlds number one supplier of mined uranium in post 2020. Leigh, thank you very much. Leigh cuyer from Nexgen Energy. We need to show you the futures from state side, pointing slightly higher. The implied open. Nasdaq hitting another record high yesterday with big tech really holding up in the session. We will be right back. Were bringing you an exclusive interview with the ceo of carlsberg. Stay tuned.
