Welcome to the daily global where we will bring the top stories from around the world. Thousands of families to spend a third night in the opening morocco following fridays earthquake which is now play nearly 2700 lives. International Emergency Workers are joining the Recovery Effort and ages being rushed in. The 6. 8 magnitude earthquake struck about 45 miles south west of the tourist hub of marrakesh in the Atlas Mountains. Its thought it was particularly devastating because the epicentre was relatively shallow, just 11 miles below the surface. Tom bateman is in the Atlas Mountains into centres send this report. Dawn lights up the destruction in this village. Moroccos most remote hillsides have become encampments of the survivors. This lady has lost contact with her son, who fled the village, she says, to get help. She was already grieving. Her husband had been sick and died before the quake came. Translation we are staying in the street. L i feel bad for my son. His dad passed away and i have to take care of him. She cries. People are here to help each other. The villages mosque, still standing, becomes a makeshift refuge. But in the morning we spent here, there were no signs of any official aid response. Hussain survived when his son freed him from the wreckage of their home. But his wife was killed. My wife, she stayed in the house. The ceiling came down and struck her. This comes from god, but thankfully my son is safe, he tells me. This is where homes once stood. Now, people walk through a cascade of ruins. Recovery attempts across this remote region have been painfully slow. So far, this clear up is people having to do it by themselves. One of their neighbours at the top of the street here, their house was struck. A family of six was inside and five of them have been killed only the father has survived. But it feels like people barely even have time to grieve. You can see the humanitarian challenge that now remains. In another village, locals pull a body from the rubble. Spanish rescuers are on the ground there, too, saying the destruction is absolute. Meanwhile, british rescue gear has arrived, with a team of 60 specialists deployed from the uk. People are retrieving what they can from homes too damaged to live in. Moroccos survivors are now on the land with all they have left. Tom bateman for as spell in morocco and as we mentioned at the start of tom bateman, bbc news and the high Atlas Mountains. A little early i spoke to tom he was in the high Atlas Mountains and he was able to give me an update on the desperate situation in the towns and villages around the quakes epicentre. Villages around the quakes epicentre villages around the quakes eicentre. ,. Epicentre. Have a listen. Winding throu~h epicentre. Have a listen. Winding through parts epicentre. Have a listen. Winding through parts of this very rugged | through parts of this very rugged and quite an accessible region. At one point, we went through the town of asni where we did see more of an official response, the Moroccan Army and some very heavy earth moving equipment and diggers. Wejoin people in this village during the agonising wait here because there was a 15 Year Old Girl and her mother to both missing in this house. Now, in the last hour, tragically, the teenage girls brought out, her body wrapped in a blanket. Theyre still searching for her mother but that is being aided, of course, by the use of the digger which hasjust been of course, by the use of the digger which has just been an action because that allows them to clear all the bubble so that the rescue teams can get in and try to do the more delicate work with their hands play more delicate work with their hands play all the rubble. Wejust heard on the report was the fact many people are simply reduced to trying to clear things by themselves. In that Village People have accepted the death toll there of around a0 residents does account now for all the missing so they have really stopped looking and a focus and attention comes on humanitarian aid and relief. Aid and relief. Pass of the issue here is that aid and relief. Pass of the issue here is that many aid and relief. Pass of the issue here is that many of aid and relief. We arrived at dawn. The village we try to get to initially, the road was completely blocked. There were people sleeping in a tent and we couldnt make our way up. We had a similar experience on our way up here as well. You can walk to these places but of course that is not enoughin places but of course that is not enough in terms of trying to remove rubble and also getting help to people and that is the big problem. Theres half a Million People across this region as a whole. Villagers very spread out and dispersed. Less than a few hundred residents and some of those we are hearing have very high casualty rates and so this has been an attempt by the moroccans against the odds to try and get the aid out, get the rescue work out as best they can but it is proved immensely challenging. Tom, there has obviously immensely challenging. Tom, there has obviously been immensely challenging. Tom, there has obviously been international immensely challenging. Tom, there has obviously been International Aid arriving into the country but there has also been chatter about aid moroccan authorities are willing to accept and from which country. Yes. Now, the accept and from which country. Yes. Now. The way accept and from which country. 13 3 now, the Way International rescue teams work, those that are deployed by governments is that they wont move until there has been a formal request by the country in crisis. Now, it took morocco all the moroccan government until sunday afternoon to give that green light and in that case it was only four for named countries. They were the uk and spain and the uae, qatar in the gulf, who have been deploying equipment and teams but very notably, there was no request for french aid. You have got to remember the source of these towns and villages that are worst affected dont have good access to Health Care Even on a normal day, and the best of days. They access their health care here in the city so there is no kind of already standing system to access it there so it is about what we have just been seeing with these people just been seeing with these people just streaming into the sitting starting with those villages more on the edge of the mountains like we have just heard but actually the big problem is getting people down to us from the further away villages so that we can do what needs to be done here and we do need to help them. Just a few days after that devastating earthquake which, as weve been reporting, killed almost 2700 people and moroccos government is under immense pressure to accept more International Aid as a Rescue Workers battle with exhaustion. So far we know that theyve accepted help from only four countries, spain, the uk, qatarand the help from only four countries, spain, the uk, qatar and the United Arab Emirates but it isjust coming to evening time there in marrakesh where many people, the injured, the dead, had been brought to hospitals like the one that clearly physician we were just speaking to is working at and she was saying that resources are limited. They need the support. They need more equipment. Very, very basic equipment but they do need it and also there is a desperate need for heavy Lifting Equipment as Rescue Workers continue to search for survivors although hope is now waning. It is now three days since that earthquake struck, thats 6. 8 magnitude earthquake. We will defend our democracy and our security. The news of the arrest of a researcher here in parliament on suspicion of spying for china is a serious breach of security. There was, the government said, a constant vigilance to root out interference, but there are some well known names that are simply not convinced. What we need to do is to recognise l that china is the largest threat, l both to the world and to the united kingdom, for freedom and democracy. And does he not agree that the government l should designate it as such . The problem lies in the mess weve got into over what we define china as with respect to us. Are they a threat or are they not . If they are a threat, why do we not call them a threat and take the relative action necessary to deal with them on that basis and sanction some people . The man at the heart of all of this, arrested back in march, released a statement today. He said. The bbc isnt naming this man. He hasnt been charged with anything and its not known precisely what hes been accused of. We will be back in the next few minutes. Dont go anywhere. Lots more coming up. Hello there. Well, today, temperatures didnt get to 30 degrees celsius somewhere in the uk, unlike the previous seven days, which was a record for september weve never had seven consecutive days back to back where temperatures have reached 30 degrees celsius before, but the heatwave is ending. Weve seen this Weather Front Move in across the north west of the uk through the day today, introducing cooler and fresher air and that will continue to push its way gradually south eastwards. I say cooler and fresher actually, temperatures will be getting closer to average for the time of the year as we get towards the middle part of the week. Now, we still did have warm sunshine across east anglia in South East England. And South East England. Temperatures still reached, well, 26 degrees or so in places, whereas across the north west of the uk we have thicker clouds and outbreaks of rain from our Weather Front and its the front that will bring a change to cooler weather. So, overnight tonight, Clearing Skies for scotland and Northern Ireland. With the Weather Turning Chilly for england and wales, so, overnight tonight, Clearing Skies for scotland and Northern Ireland, with the Weather Turning Chilly. For england and wales, a slow moving Weather Front tending to pep up with some persistent outbreaks of rain for some, whereas across east anglia in South East England probably staying dry, but one or two mist patches around as we start the day on tuesday. Now, i think for tuesday this Weather Front s going to be really slow moving, so rain on and off through the day and probably some of the rain quite heavy across eastern areas of england, maybe with an odd rumble of thunder. Sunniest weather for scotland and Northern Ireland, wherever you are those temperatures coming down, 17 22 for most. Then for the middle part of the week, High Pressure is with us just for one day. So after a sunny start, once weve lost the Early Morning mist and fog, you might see a bit of cloud bubbling up. The exception to the dry theme, well, for Western Scotland and maybe western counties of Northern Ireland, close to an area of low pressure, you may well see outbreaks of rain at times. Those temperatures high teens to low 20s. For thursday, some strong winds around this low pressure buffeting the north West Of Scotland as our Weather Front continues its Journey Southwards and eastwards across england and wales. The Weather Front itself continuing to weaken as it moves southwards. Indeed, well probably start to see Southerly Winds move back in across east anglia, and South East England, boosting the temperatures potentially back into the Mid 20s For Scotland and Northern Ireland. Thursdays a blustery day, a day of sunny spells and showers. And then as we get through friday, more especially into the weekend, looks like well see more rain across southern portions of the uk, but the weather a bit more uncertain in the north. This is bbc news, the headlines. Moroccos worst earthquake for more than half a century is now known to have killed nearly 2,700 people. China says claims that two people .
