employer has a range of options available to them. they could at the very least agree that it's unpaid leave. at best, they could say we will exercise exceptional discretion here and we will pay you for an agreed period of time. so it is important for the employer to say this is exceptional, so that they don't create a custom or practice of anytime anyone is caught up with delays or technicalities they will get paid. but in exceptional circumstances an employer may agree to pay them for a limited of time. i was surprised to hear that it's going to be may be a week before some people can get back. so the employer will have to decide what can we do, pay an extra week for everybody or is that putting people who haven't been at this situation, they might feel hard done by because
