With High Pressure just to the south, it looks like we wont see much if any rain across central and Southern England and south wales and the rain on monday, perhaps across the north and west of scotland, into northern england, maybe across north wales and some patchy rain for northern ireland. By and large, the further south and east you are, it should be drier, increasing cloud after a sunny and frosty start. And also a milder afternoon after that cold and frosty start. Still some rain in the forecast on tuesday and wednesday, particularly the further north and west you are. Further south, it stays dry for much of the week and we will all see something colder by the end of the week. Hello, this is bbc news. The headlines. It is too narrow for an adult to get in to rescue him but rescuers are said to be as close to a metre away from where he is. For decades, two of the middle easts most implacable foes, israel and iran, have been embroiled in a shadow war. The biggest flashpoint is Irans Nuclear programme. Israel does not believe irans assertions that it is a purely peaceful civil one. We have our intelligence capabilities to go after those who try to threaten us. We are interrupting that programme to cross back to morocco where it appears that the boy who has been trapped in a well for five days appears to have been brought out. We are seeing this exactly as you are so we are trying to establish exactly what is going on but as you can see, lines of Rescue Workers either side, and this is the most movement we have seen for the last few hours. A lot of people gathered there its hard to make out the detail but you can see the mechanical diggers that have been involved in the Rescue Effort and the sheer number of rescuers, both experts and volunteers. The effort has been sustained for the past five days with the boy falling into the well, we understand it was a well that his father was fixing when he fell and became trapped, about 100 feet below ground level. The rescuers were not able to reach him easily because of the narrowness of the opening and it became even narrower further down underground. They have had to do a Complicated Process Digging A Second Panel beside it and tunnelling across to beside it and tunnelling across to be able to reach him but of course there were concerns that in doing so, they could inadvertently trigger a landslide which would of course create an even greater complication of reaching and rescuing the boy. Supplies were lowered to him, it is understood some Food Supplies and some water and an oxygen mask were lowered into the well. Its not clear if the boy was able to use those supplies. But rescuers, as i say, have been at that site it Rescue Effort that has gripped not just morocco and north africa but people follow it all around the world, hoping and praying that the boy is rescued. He had been named by local media as rayan. These are live pictures from the site of the Rescue Efforts in morocco. There have been periodic bouts of cheering and noise that have occurred during the day. There is no Confirmation That, within the last few minutes, Rescue Workers carrying the five year old boy have emerged from a tunnel that was dug to rescue him from a deep well which he fell down whilst playing around it on tuesday. At this stage, the boys condition is unknown. But among those you saw gathered around the entrance to the well, we understand are a medical team on site ready to treat him and a helicopter was also at the scene earlier i dont know if we can see it now, but a helicopter was at the scene, presumably to be able to whisk him off for emergency treatment. The operational leaders, the rescuers, have been giving updates throughout the day, and on friday at one of the leaders said they were almost there and they had been working nonstop for three days with tiredness inevitably kicking in but the whole rescue team is hanging on. This is a small town, in the north of morocco. And the boy came to fall down to welcome his father was repairing it at the time of the accident and one can only imagine the devastation that he felt, the boys father and mother saying they were both devastated and very worried and he said, in that one moment i took my eyes off him, he fell into the well, i havent slept a wink. This moment must be a moment of extreme emotion for the boys family. The hashtag to save rayan, the name of the boy, has been trending on moroccan social media with people following the Rescue Efforts for the past few days. Let me just explain to you and demonstrate actually why the Rescue Effort has been so complicated and difficult. It is the narrowness of the well that has been hampering efforts. The whole diameter its very small, atjust efforts. The whole diameter its very small, at just 25 centimetres and the depth of 28 metres below ground, it gets even smaller which made it impossible for an Adult Rescuer to get through and reach the boy so rescue teams came up with another technique, boy so rescue teams came up with anothertechnique, digging boy so rescue teams came up with another technique, digging a tunnel beside it, claiming earth at the site of the tunnel using bulldozers and front end loaders, and digging across to reach the boy put of the final two metres proved to be the most difficult because of the risk of landslide. But within the last few minutes we have had Confirmation That the five year old boy, the Rescue Workers have carried him out of the well where he has been stuck 32 metres below ground, about 100 feet deep since tuesday. And it has been a huge Rescue Effort, partly because of the complications of the terrain and the fear of possible landslides slowing the digging and obviously they have had to do that very carefully indeed. But also reaching the boy, given the size of the well, impossible for an adult to actually get down there. And of course their concern was that if a landslide were accidentally triggered you would have a situation where you could make it harder to reach the boy, he could of course have been injured by that process. They did manage to lower a camera into the well on thursday and that footage on thursday appeared to show the boy alive and conscious, although he also appeared to be suffering from some head injuries. We should stress that it is unclear what the boys condition is at this time. A few minutes ago we saw a great deal of activity among rescuers with two lines of Rescue Workers either side of those who were bringing him and it looked like he was being pulled out on a Stretcher Being taken to a medical team on Standby Waiting to treat the boy. If you have followed this for the past few days, you will know just how much it has gripped people in morocco, in north africa, and indeed around the world. As the boy who fell 32 metres, which is 100 feet down the opening of this well was trapped for five days as rescuers made every effort to reach him. They managed to lower a camera at one point and they said it appeared to show him lying on his site. It was lowered a few days ago and of course the other point was they needed to make sure that he was getting enough oxygen he had some food and water. All of those were lowered to an oxygen mask, food and water, all lowered into the world but those leading the operation said they were not able to say for certain whether the boy had been able to use the supplies. So the pictures you are seeing now are from the last few minutes and as you can see, a bustle of activity all of a sudden and you can hear cheering and the excitement. Shouting. You can hear the relief among those who had gathered rescuers, volunteers and well wishers, people there to show their support with a vigil being held outside and you can see in the middle, you canjust see held outside and you can see in the middle, you can just see the stretcher. Unfortunately the picture slightly pixel eights but you get that sense of the movement, the rescuers, some clearly who have been working for several days to rescue this young boy. Just five years old. I dare say, even as an adult, imagine being trapped for five days, not knowing if anyone would reach you, and then imagine how much more terrifying that would be as a young child, this boy who has been in that well since tuesday. You can hear the euphoria and the relief. Among the crowds who have gathered. As he is whisked away to be checked, to be treated by the medical Response Team thatis treated by the medical Response Team that is on standby, has been on standby on site, ready to treat him. We dont know his condition at the moment. We do know that, early in the week, a couple of days ago, he was seen to be alive and conscious, that was on thursday. The hope is that was on thursday. The hope is that they will have reached him in time to save him and give him the treatment and the food, the water, the medical attention that he inevitably needs. The other thing to say about this region, the north of morocco, it becomes bitterly, bitterly cold in the winter so that will also have been a concern for them. Not only could he have sustained injuries from the fall but there will also be concerned, particularly at night, about how sharply the temperatures drop. That will have added a sense of urgency to the Rescue Effort. As they were digging that tunnel, the rescuers were placing. This is why it was so complicated, they were placing concrete and steel pipes as they dug to allow them to pull him safely out of the well. Their concern of course was that the tunnels they had dug would cave in, any sort of landslide would cave in, any sort of landslide would potentially injure the boy can make it more risky for those involved in the rescue, and hamper efforts. It could even have delayed matters in the rescue. These pictures you are seeing, let me just recap these pictures you are seeing now, from the last few minutes, showing the boy being rescued from the well. And being taken to safety. We can hear now from a moroccan journalist on the phone, hassan alaoui, and this much, such as a huge relief . Huge relief . Definitely, For Moroccans huge relief . Definitely, For Moroccans and huge relief . Definitely, For Moroccans and everyone i huge relief . Definitely, for. Moroccans and everyone else, huge relief . Definitely, For Moroccans and everyone else, not only moroccans but the entire world was following this story since tuesday. And tonight the outcome came at around 15 minutes ago when we saw rayan being taken into an ambulance. I guess that probably this ambulance will take him to a helicopter which was standing by but we dont know in what kind of state rayan is. We dont know if he is badly injured, if he is alive, if he is dead we have not heard from any official yet or from anyone at the scene. Even if people from the rescue team, they promised that they will come to the media and talk to them as soon as they have news. But until now, we dont have any confirmation. We dont know what happened exactly and in what kind of shape rayan is. I saw a lot of people there holding one of the rescue teams aloft and he said he was alive. But i cant confirm that rayanis was alive. But i cant confirm that rayan is alive or dead but definitely he should be in a very good shape after nearly spending five days in this condition. But we are waiting for the official confirmation from officials there to tell us what is happening or what has happened exactly. The only thing we know now that the ambulance took him to safety and after that there was a mayhem because the place was overcrowded with security forces, with people, every kind of police and from the gendarmerie, and a lot of people locals and media people with their telephones, their cameras and everything and it is still going on, this may have now. But as i said, we are waiting for someone to come and tell us exactly what happened or what is happening and mainly in what shape the boy is. fix, mainly in what shape the boy is. A lot of uncertainty and questions still surrounding this. Give us a sense of the area where this happened and the difficulties both about the weather conditions, the temperatures, the terrain and ground they were having to get through to reach him . It is they were having to get through to reach him . ,. ,. ,. ,. ,. ,. , reach him . It is a mountainous area near chefchaouen reach him . It is a mountainous area near chefchaouen and reach him . It is a mountainous area near chefchaouen and luckily reach him . It is a mountainous area near chefchaouen and luckily it reach him . It is a mountainous area near chefchaouen and luckily it did i near chefchaouen and luckily it did not rain because the terrain is apparently made of soft soil and if we had rain, probably in the last three orfour days, it we had rain, probably in the last three or four days, it would have been really very, very difficult, the rescue operation. Thankfully at least it didnt rain during the last few days but still, the terrain was not helping the rescuers and they had to remove tonnes and tonnes of soil and rubble and that is why it took them four or five days now to reach rayan tonight and take him to safety. Is not an easy operation at all it was full of risks and they were fearing an accident could happen at any minute and even the rescuers were not safe themselves. Let alone the small rayan who was trapped in this well for five days. That poor little boy must have been utterly terrified and completely alone at the bottom of that well. One can only imagine what it felt like for him but when we look at the rescuers and the sheer number of people involved, i wonder if these rescuers are likely to have been locally based with a knowledge and understanding of the terrain and ground they were dealing with or did they bring in specialists from elsewhere, from other parts of morocco or even beyond . Every means was used to morocco or even beyond . Every means was used to save morocco or even beyond . Every means was used to save rayan. Morocco or even beyond . Every means was used to save rayan. Most morocco or even beyond . Every means was used to save rayan. Most of morocco or even beyond . Every means was used to save rayan. Most of the i was used to save rayan. Most of the rescuers were not local and they came from all over morocco and they were helped by geologists and experts who know exactly what should be done. Because it was a very risky operation and they couldnt take any risks to save rayan and also save themselves. When you have to dig Something Like 32 metres, and you cant believe the amount of rubble and soil they have to remove in the last days, so it was it was a frightening experience and luckily, it ended well tonight even if we dont know yet in what state the small rayan is. But at last it is over, for everyone, and mainly for rayan, who had to spend five days in this terrible, terrible condition. You are absolutely right to make that point, that although we have heard the cheers of relief that the rescuers have brought him out of the well, at this stage we do not know his condition. We have had no update on the boys condition. I his condition. We have had no update on the boys condition. On the boys condition. I hope that the officials on the boys condition. I hope that the officials will come out in the l the officials will come out in the next probably half an hour or 15 minutes or sojust to next probably half an hour or 15 minutes or so just to let us know what is the situation because, as i said, when they put him out, it was well organised at the start but when the ambulance left, it was just mayhem. Because the place was overcrowded with security people, with the media people, the rescuers, everyone was there. And the mayhem we had was unbelievable. And everyone was there. And the mayhem we had was unbelievable. We had was unbelievable. And its interesting we had was unbelievable. And its interesting that we had was unbelievable. Because everyone in morocco, and, as i said at the start of this interview, not only in morocco but everywhere mainly in the arab and muslim world, they were following this story minute by minute, especially. Hassan alaoui, moroccan journalist there. We will continue to make efforts to ascertain the condition of the boy, rayan, in the rescue from morocco and bring you the details when we can confirm his condition here on bbc news. In the meantime lets take a moment and have a check on the weather. Hello, theres a lot of weather to talk about this weekend. Rain for many, strong winds, and also snow, particularly across scotland. Its all tied in with this frontal system. We have a cold front pushing its way southwards across the uk, colder air behind it, snow showers piling into scotland. Notice the squeeze in the isobars as well. We keep those strong winds as we head through tonight and into sunday. And we will see more frequent showers pushing into scotland overnight, coupled with those strong and gusty winds, brings a risk of blizzards. Further south we have that band of rain continuing on its journey southwards, pepping up through parts of wales, the midlands, south west england, some heavier rain here towards the end of the night but much milder compared to last night away from scotland where we will see temperatures close to if not below freezing. So a risk of ice here and also we have a yellow warning from the met office across parts of northern and Western Scotland and through the central belt for snow. 10 15 centimetres over higher ground, perhaps a couple of centimetres at lower levels, 3 5 centimetres, for example. We keep that risk of snow across scotland through tomorrow morning, some of those snow showers may push into northern england. Across the midlands, east anglia, south east england, that morning rain will clear away to reveal some sunshine but really, it is a day of sunshine and showers for many of us and those showers will be of snow through scotland and into northern england. Still those gusty winds so it is going to feel colder than these temperatures suggest, that colder air starting to push across much of the uk. Maybe 10 or 11 celsius across central and Southern England, it may not feel that way, given the strength of the wind. Most of the showers will tend to fade as we head through tomorrow evening and the risk of snow diminishes across scotland so some clearer skies, a cold and frosty night for many ahead of more cloud and something milder starting to push in on monday. This is the bigger picture, if you like, for monday, this warm front pushing across the uk. This is bbc news with the latest headlines for viewers in the uk and around the world.
