The lights had just come up at the end of Ariana Grandes show when suddenly a loud bang was heard. Audio of the moment of the explosion was recorded by someone inside the arena. Police say they believe the explosion happened in the foyer of the arena and are treating it as a Terrorist Attack. Reports from two unnamed us officials suggested it was carried out by a suicide bomber. That is yet to be confirmed. I was in the box office of the foyer when it happened. I was waiting for my family to come out. I was talking to one of the girls. The door into the arena had already been opened. Because the door was open, we got blown forwards through the door towards the arena due to the explosion being behind us. Everyone around us got injured. Casualties have been taken to hospitals across the city. Medical staff say they have been treating shrapnel like injuries. The venue, which has a capacity of 18,000 people, is right in the heart of manchester. Victoria Railway Station next door has been evacuated and services suspended. They talked about nuts and bolts strewn around the floor, the smell of explosives. One man said he was thrown several metres by the blast, and sought people sprawled on the floor when he got up. One of those eyewitnesses was gary walker. He and his wife were injured by the explosion as they walked to pick up their daughters. And that is one of the reasons that the police are treating it as a terrorist incident. Just a short while ago, our correspondent ed thomas give us the latest. And it would have been those thousands of children making their way out of the foyer when this blast happened. Police have confirmed that it happened in the foyer. We still dont know what the source of the blast was, but we have one source in the united states, an intelligence source, that has told the bbc that this is a suspected suicide bomber. A picture has emerged over the last couple of hours of the people caught up in this event and also the injuries that they are being treated for. We have heard from paramedics at the scene who say they have treated some people for shrapnel injuries. Eye witnesses have said they saw nuts and bolts on the ground of the arena which would perhaps suggest that this could be a nail bomb. That is one theory that detectives will be looking at. Others have been treated for crushing injury. People heard the explosion and tried to get out of the arena. There could have been a stampede as people tried to get to the exit. Also, images of people with cuts. One man said his wife had a Stomach Injury and broken bones. The North West Ambulance service have said they sent 60 ambulances to the scene in the aftermath of this explosion. They werent entirely sure what the noise had come from but they were just running. I did hear one or two girls who were screaming. We saw blood. We change the week and the nature of the weather due to High Pressure close to us through most of the week until the bank holiday weekend. Lots of this kind of thing. Buttercups enjoying the sunshine and fairly cloudy fare here in Northern Ireland. Further north towards inverness, a lot of cloud. That Weather Feature is moving as we start tuesday towards the northern isles. A chilly start to parts of scotland. Further south, High Pressure not in place. This air comes from the atlantic and it is warm and moist and will be all over the Channel Islands and the isles of scilly, coming into the West Midlands as well.
