As they return from migration, folk singers welcome them back in the First National nightingale festival. And why marathon runner Paula Radcliffe could lose her world record under new proposals by European Athletics. Good morning. Welcome to bbc newsroom live. The labour Leaderjeremy Corbyn has said he is not posted offender the Home Secretary as she stated the wrong cost. This morning, diane abbott initially told Lbc The Policy would cost Three Hundred Thousand pounds, before correcting herself to about 80 million. Mr corbyn has said the policy will cost £300 million. Following developments from westminster is our assistant Political Editor, norman smith. Todayis today is meant to be the day that labour has a Big Push On Law And Order with this announcement that the Labour Government would recruit 10,000 more Police Officers. They we re 10,000 more Police Officers. They were already under pressure from the conservatives asking how they will pay for it, you have already allocated the money you were going to pay for this, reversing changes to pay for this, reversing changes to Capital Gains tax. They are already under pressure about how they are going to fund. They placed themselves under even more pressure by the shadow Home Secretary diane abbott seemingly getting into a tangle over the numbers when interviewed on lbc. How much with 10,000 Police Officers cost . Well, if we recruit the 10,000 Police Men And Women over a four year period, we believe it will be about £300,000. £300,000 . Sorry. 10,000 Police Officers . What are you paying them . no, i mean. How much would they cost . They will cost. It will cost. About £80 million. She then had another go out and sing the question, a second attempt to explain the numbers. £80 million to pay for 10,000 Police Officers means that each officer is getting around £8,000. Which isnt really much money. Diane abbott was asked to explain how that added up . money. Diane abbott was asked to explain how that added up . I dont understand. If you divide 80 million by 10000, you get 8000. What are you going to pay them . We are talking about a process over four years. do not understand, what is she. 80 million divided by is 8000. What are these Police Officers going to be paid . We will be paying them the average. Paid . We will be paying them the average. Has this been thought through . Of course it has been thought through. She had a third goal at trying to explain the numbers, getting into even more of a tangle after suggesting that labour might be recruiting 250,000 Police Officers. The additional cost in year one when we anticipate recruiting about 250,000 policemen would be 64. 3 million. 250,000 policemen . And women. Youre getting more than 10,000, recruiting 250,000 . We are recruiting 2250, perhaps. We did 250,000 come from . Eventually she managed to get the number sorted out and gave a year by year breakdown on how labour would pay the 2. 74 billion after reversing the Capital Gains tax cuts. Labour are meant to be having a big push on more and order and this is not what they wanted. It has overshadowed the planned visit Byjeremy Corbyn who was on the south coast trying to promote his policies on crime where he was asked about diane abbott. She corrected the figure, that is the figure and it will be paid for by not going ahead with the Capital Gains tax cuts. Is it embarrassing that your shadow Home Secretary got it wrong, having to put their trust in you for the election . Not at all. We have corrected the error. It is not embarrassing in the slightest. This is embarrassing fun but at another level, it matters. Labour is under pressure as i say about how they would pay for many of the pledges. This will just they would pay for many of the pledges. This willjust be ammunition for the opponents. More than that, in terms of voters trying to decide who they will cast their vote for, competence and credibility are absolutely crucial and this will have done nothing to boast of Diane Abbotts credibility and confidence. Uncomfortable fallout after the meeting between theresa may and john claudejunker meeting between theresa may and John Claude Junker and the claims meeting between theresa may and john claudejunker and the claims of theresa may is seen by leaders in brussels as being in another galaxy on brexit. What is the latest on that . The conservatives have been trying to play this down, saying they will not get involved in some sort of briefing war with eu officials. For precisely the same officials. For precisely the same official same reasons that the Opposition Parties will pile in on them. Suggesting that this is the nature of the negotiations that will u nfold nature of the negotiations that will unfold with theresa may increasingly isolated and on the back foot. That was the take of the Liberal Democrat leader tim farron this morning. We see leader tim farron this morning. We see the discussions in the media over the last day and saw over theresa may and Jean Claude Juncker s theresa may and Jean Claude Juncker 5 discussions, he said, she said, thatis 5 discussions, he said, she said, that is the shape of things to come. We will not be sure what is going on. The deal be stitched up by our politicians and their politicians. It will be stitched up on the 215t century equivalent of smoke filled rooms over the next 18 months and will be up imposed on the people of lewis and britain. They will not have any say they vote Liberal Democrat. Theresa may is campaigning in the south west today. Our aides seemed to be very fast by this. Nonplussed. The inca please enter the narrative for the General Election, presenting theresa may as standing up to the other 27 countries, showing strong leadership. For hard, this sort of row actually please into her election or game plan. They are not seeking to dampen down, they are moving on quite happy for this story to bobble on. A surfer who went missing off the scottish coast has been rescued after more than 30 hours clinging to his board. Matthew bryce was reported missing by his family when he didnt return from a surfing trip in argyll on sunday afternoon. He was eventually picked up 13 miles off the coast, still conscious but suffering from hypothermia. It is extraordinary he was in the water for 30 hours. What can you tell us . It is extraordinary. The coast guard said that matthew was very lucky and he was also kitted out with all the right clothing, including a thick wet suit and that must have helped to survive for so long. Police are searching for at least two people over the shooting of a Marketing Executive who was killed in his own home. Guy hedger was shot by intruders who entered a house in st ives, near ringwood, dorset, early on sunday. He later died in hospital. Better still quite a lot of Police Activity here at the scene. It is a very wealthy part of dorset. It is right on the edge of the new forest and they have got quite a lot of big, expensive houses here. Hide this one in particular . That has been a big question for detectives. It does seem now at these very early stages of this investigation that it was, guy hedgers property was targeted for the reason. That is because the police now know that jewellery and designer watches were taken as part of what happened in the early hours of Sunday Morning. They also suspect there was some sort of planning going on. The intruders were prepared for some sort of confrontation because they came with balaclavas, they also had a shotgun. That is how those events unfolded. They are working on this theory, early stages, that this was a very targeted burglary that turned violent in the end. It could be some days before we really know all the details of what happened here. This is what police are telling us, it may take some time. They think there was another man in the house at the time and he witnessed some of the events will stop he is very affected by that. They have not named through that phase. He will be a witness to talk to. They have not yet found the weapon, they have not recovered back, so lots and lots of lines for the police to get out here. In what is part of dorset that does not have a big problem with gun crime normally. This is very unexpected in this area. People here have been talking about how horrified they have been at this shooting and how distressed and shocked they are. This was, police say, an attack on an innocent man in an unlikely location. His family have issued a statement, he was a caring and compassionate partner, son, brother and uncle. He was a caring and compassionate partner, son, brotherand uncle. He lived life to the full and enriched the lives of all that knew him. Then five times a day, she does this, empties out excess fluid from a tube in her stomach and replaces it with new liquid from a bag. You can only live your life to a point. I cant even remember what it was like not ever doing it. Debbie lives on her own and works part time as a cleaner. For years shes relied on dla, or Disability Living Allowance, worth £80 a week. But that is slowly being replaced by a new benefit, the personal Independence Payment, or pip. When she was reassessed by a private company, all her payments were stopped completely. Well, i was scared, you know. I put on a brave face, but inside im just. Im in shock, really. That morning, debbie is meeting alex powell, from a local charity that helps people with their claims. The government says it is spending more than ever on Disability Benefits and many have seen their incomes rise since pip was introduced, but more than a quarter of a Million People have lost out in the switch from dla. During its peak, half a Million Barrels a day. Now, the oilfield is coming to the end of its economic life, and these monoliths are being decommissioned, itself a massive job. The north sea in particular is a very harsh environment. The platforms are very big and large integrated platforms. They are much bigger typically than what you would find in the southern north sea and shallow basins around the world. They are heavier and more difficult to decommission. It is a process that will be worth at least £40 billion in the years ahead, but it is not without challenges. Shell, which operates the oilfield, says it learned lessons from the furore from the scrapping of the Storage Facility in the 1990s. Deltas three concrete legs will remain in place, as the Company Believes removing them is too dangerous and expensive. We will see 100 decommissioned in the coming years as these giants of the once so vital oil field are brought ashore to die. Because we are without them right now. Cup your ears. Focus your hearing. Bird noises. They are so loud, arent they . I didnt really believe you. They are several metres away. Singing. Doesnt it feel odd to be here in the middle of the night sitting in a forest . No, not at all. It seems quite natural and quite perfect. The nightingale, they say. In addition to that, i think she wants to discuss the situation in syria and talk about mr putins support for the assad regime. This has been at the forefront of getting the two sides to stick to that agreement. Also at the forefront of europe sticking to its imposition of sanctions, because they have been times it hasnt at the time of agreement. On the 485 Million Dollar loss it made the same quarter last year. Bp is midway through a global overhaul of its business including selling off assets and buying up new businesses elsewhere. Bob dudley, its chief executive , has been praised for how he handled the Deep Water Horizon disaster and navigated the massive fall in the price of oil but that still was not enough to counter the critics who last year said his 14 Million Dollar salary was far too big given the multi billion dollar losses the company delivered in the last couple of years. So, what do we make of it . Lets speak to james hughes. Lets talk about the return to profit. Good news because we know theyve had well documented problems. What does the city make a bit . Its good news. Its such a huge company notjust when it comes to their own earnings but it has such a wide effect on the ftse100 and the sentiment of the uk market, so the fact that weve seen that company come back in and post some strong numbers is good going forward. Theyve overcome an incredibly tough time and it hasnt just tough for bp but all the oil companies. Its because the price of oil has been so low. If you are selling it, and then selling it off in various different forms then you had to have that price slightly higher otherwise its going to cost money to bring it out of the ground and then sell it on. The fact that oil prices are going to rise in 2017 is good news for bp. That means they can charge more for getting it out at the ground. But little sympathy from consumers because the prices of this are going to go up as well . Whenever we see prices go up at the pumps as consumers then we know the oil company is getting more in their pocket, as is the government. There will not be too much sympathy, nor when it comes to bob dudleys wages. His salary has been taken down by £3. 7 million but he will still earn 11 million this year. 0k, hes brought them back into profit, but they have been a company that has struggled for a long time and one of the areas where they struggle is that they have these new projects going on and they are looking to put a new projects on line which is the most theyve ever done to make money for them. Quite a most theyve ever done to make money forthem. Quite a big most theyve ever done to make money for them. Quite a big gamble for bp. Yes, the numbers are high, the oil prices are helping things up when youve got all these projects that are helping you to bring more money then they are big risk. Weve talked about deepwater horizon, that disaster cost lives, cost bp a lot of money in compensation, pay outs, finds etc. If the future looking better for the finds etc. If the future looking betterfor the oilfirm . Finds etc. If the future looking better for the oil firm . The future is looking a bit better and that is because the oil prices starting to go higher. It has been incredibly low but is coming back. Its getting more sustainable which does help, but the problem with the oil price is that there are so Many Political ramifications. So many Different Things can move that price, and if it slips slightly lower end ep may start losing money in that area which then causes issues. It is totally unknown how long oil will stay at the price it is now. Thank you, james hughes. At gkn x. At gkfx. Britains Manufacturing Output jumped to a three year high last month as new orders jumped sharply thanks on strong domestic and overseas demand. The uk manufacturing pmi as its known jumped to 57. 3 in april, well above forecasts for 54 and higher than 54. 2 in march. Any figure above 50 indicates expansion in the sector. The weak pound has helped manufacturers by making their products appear cheaper overseas. Therefore, they can sell more of them and make them more competitive. Them more competitive. 0nline Delivery Firm just eat says sales rose 46 percent to almost £120 million in the three months to march 31, with uk orders rising 17 to £24m. The company said the figure would have been higher had it not been for an early easter and one day less of trading because of the leap year. That shows what a difference it makes, doesnt it . Housebuilder bovis homes says its made Clear Progress in addressing Customer Complaints over the poor quality of its properties. The kent based firm has been dogged by complaints over homes that were sold unfinished and had electrical and plumbing faults. Its also been subject to two failed takeover bids earlier this year from redrow and galliford try. As promised, i want to show you what bp is doing. When the market was opened it was up by 3 . But as you heard from james, oil price is back on the rise which is good news for the oilfirms. Brent on the rise which is good news for the oil firms. Brent crude on the rise which is good news for the oilfirms. Brent crude is up on the rise which is good news for the oil firms. Brent crude is up and light crude is just shy of the 50 mark. A host of american celebrities have turned out for whats is described as the party of the year the met gala. The annual charity ball is held at new Yorks Metropolitan Museum of art to raise money for the museums fashion department. Tickets cost Tens Of Thousands of dollars. Nada tawfiks report contains flash photography. It is the hottest invite on new yorks social calendar, and the biggest night in fashion, that draws out only the stars. Stepping onto the met gala red carpet is to enter a runway, but one with a very specific theme. This year, the met Costume Institute is Honouring Japanese designer rei kawakubo, who famously blurs the line between fashion and artwork. Rei isnt so much out of the box. For rei, there is no box, and she did that so early on. When rei started, you would never believe fashion could be as influential and as powerful as music. Well, it is. You know, a lot of people say, like, how do you wear that . You dont wear those clothes, those clothes wear you. Sleeves need not apply, and Cotton Candy Hair and face coverings are just a few of kawakubos signatures. And the bravest dress the part. Katie perry and Pharrell Williams along with his wife, wore the designers pieces and rhianna stood out from the crowd with this floral look. Of course, if youre madonna, you arrive in camouflage with your own fashion statement. What statement are you making tonight . That we have got to get our act together and start thinking about peace on earth. The irony and the stupidity of war. This red carpet has become one of the mostjudged. Social media was quick to play fashion critic. The met ball is not the place to play it safe. And that unspoken rule, combined with this unconventional designers contribution, has led to a night of unique looks. Nada tawfik, bbc news, the met gala. Time for a Weather Update with matt. For some, it has been a cracking start for tuesday. We will see a little bit more cloud bubbling up, across the central and north east of scotla nd across the central and North East Of Scotland and central england, some cloud has been sitting there all day. There will be a few breaks appearing. Elsewhere, Central Eastern england will see some showers. A better day in the channel islands. Sunny spells, 18 celsius possibly in some places in the west. Showers, you and far between. Certainly not enough of the gardens at the moment, even fewer showers in the north. Much of North West England stays dry, as for Northern Ireland, 18 19 celsius. Ten across the east here. This is where we could perhaps see a little bit of frost overnight, taking us into wednesday morning. No frost towards east anglia and the south east. More breeze. 18 celsius tomorrow and diffuse bashes of rain and drizzle. The cloud will rush across the country westwards, but still a lot of sunshine in the far west. Scotland, Northern Ireland, temperatures down. Steel 18 celsius in Western Scotland. Temperatures struggling along the eastern coasts. The reason is down to the sea temperatures. They are low for this time of year. When you consider with High Pressure the wind is coming down the southern flank, coming of that chilly north sea, its never going to particularly warm up. A lot of cloud around on thursday. Funny nurse across Western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Thats it from me. Lower temperatures across Western Scotland. Labours leader defends the shadow Home Secretary diane abbott as she struggles to say how much the partys policy to put 10,000 new Police Officers on the streets of england and wales would cost. If we recruit the 10,000 Police Men And Women over a four year period, we believe it will be about £300,000. £300,000 for 10,000 Police Officers . How much are you paying them . No, i mean, sorry. How much will they cost . Weve corrected the figure and it will be absolutely clear now, today and in the manifesto. Im not embarrassed in the slightest. Folk singers welcome them back from migration in the First National nightingale festival. And why marathon runner Paula Radcliffe could lose her world record under new proposals by European Athletics. The labour Leaderjeremy Corbyn has been forced to defend the shadow Home Secretary after she gave the wrong cost for labours policy of putting ten thousand new Police Officers on the streets of england and wales. Diane abbott initially told Lbc The Policy would cost £300,000 before correcting herself to about eighty million. Mr corbyn has said the policy will cost £300 million. Following developments from westminster is our assistant Political Editor norman smith. Rod is through what happened. Today was meant to be the day when labour had his Big Push On Law And Order, unveiling the keynote pledged to ta ke unveiling the keynote pledged to take on an extra 10,000 Police Officers. This risks being derailed after the shadow Home Secretary, diane abbott, the woman who is meant to be centre stage in this argument, seems to get into a tangle over our own policy. The policy was already being challenged whether the sums added up. In what can only be described as an excruciating interview on lbc radio, she seemed to get into a terrible state of confusion about her own funding plans. How much with 10,000 Police Office rs plans. After that, she had the second stab at trying to answer the question about her own pa rtys at trying to answer the question about her own partys policy on police numbers. £80 million, if you divide that by 10,000 Police Officers, each officer is only paid £8,000 which is below the minimum wage. Diane abbott had another go. I dont understand. If you divide 80 million by 10,000, you get 8000. Is that what you are going to pay these policemen and women . No, we are talking about a process over four years. I dont understand. What is he or she. . 80 million divided by 10,000 is 8000. What are these Police Officers going to be paid . We will be paying them the average. Has this been thought through . Of course it has been thought through. She seemed to be very flustered and suggested that labour would be recruiting not 10,000 Police Officers but 250,000 Police Officers. The additional cost in year one, when we anticipate recruiting about 250,000 policemen, will be 63. 4 million. 250,000 police men . And women. So, you are getting more than 10,000 . You are recruiting 250,000 . No, we are recruiting 2000 and perhaps 250 and the cost. Where did 250,000 come from . Eventually diane abbott clarified the sums and gave a year by year breakdown on how much it would be cost with money being recruited from reversing cuts to Capital Gains tax. Jeremy corbyn on the south coast trying to promote labours policy found himself been put onto the defensive. She corrected the figure thatis defensive. She corrected the figure that is the figure and it will be paid for by not going ahead with the cuts on Capital Gains tax. Is it embarrassing natural shadow Home Secretary got the numbers wrong . Youre trying to get voters to put their trust in you. Not at all, we have corrected the figure, it will be cleared now, and today and in the manifesto. We are not embarrassed in the slightest. This is an awkward interview with lots of mistakes but at another level there is serious ramifications. It raises questions about how far out labour have been in doing the sums but also because of who diane abbott as, she is the shadow Home Secretary. She is not another backbencher, she is the woman who hopes to be our next Home Secretary. She is a key ally ofjeremy corbyn. It raises questions about competence and credibility. Looking at brexit, continuing fallout in the meeting between theresa may and Jean Claude Juncker. What is Downing Street saying . Senior conservative sources saying . Senior conservative sources say they will not get into a briefing war with eu officials about what did and didnt happen at that eu dinner. From the oppositions point of view, they feel that the versions of version of events given by eu officials reflects the fa ct given by eu officials reflects the fact that mrs may is heading towards a hard brexit. Potentially falling out of the eu without any sort of deal whatsoever. That was the line from the lib dem leader tim farron this morning. We see the discussions in the media over the last day or so about theresa may and Jean Claude Juncker is, he said, she said. That is the shape of things to come. Where we will not be sure what is going on. Whether a deal will be stitched up between bureaucrats and the eurocrats, by our politicians and the eurocrats, by our politicians and their politicians. That they will be stitched up in the 20th century equivalent of smoke filled rooms and will be imposed on the people of lewis and the people of britain. They will have no say unless you vote Liberal Democrat. Those close to theresa may said that the version of events given to the german newspaper bjoern no reflection on what happened during that dinner. I get the feeling they are not that bothered by these reports. Bluntly, in the general Election Campaign, deeply to the many narratives that mrs may is trying to put over. She is trying to present herself as the person who is trying to stand up to the other 27 eu countries and to strike a hard deal. I get the feeling that people in numberten are deal. I get the feeling that people in number ten are not concerned that the officials at the European Commission are sounding. Theresa may is in the south west which was until the 2015 General Election a heartland of the Liberal Democrat vote. What is the message from theresa may on the Campaign Trail Today . M what is the message from theresa may on the Campaign Trail Today . It is no coincidence she has came here to cornell and other parts of the south west. At the last election, this was a big deal for the conservatives. She came here to cornwall. They managed to sweep a blue tide through the south west and the lib dems were washed away. There has been talk of a Liberal Democrat revival here. We heard from tim farron, he thinks so. The question is for theresa may, she is coming here to try to make sure that does not happen. Shes going to talk today about there being a strong vote for hard for those reasons, delivering on brexit. This is a cou nty delivering on brexit. This is a county which voted in favour of leaving the European Union as did this constituency of saint austell. She has already been to st ives in the west of cornwall. She will try to make sure there is no Liberal Democrat revival. There was also been a Sizeable Ukip vote around here and she hopes that people will look at her and realise she is the person to deliver on brexit and it will switch their votes to her. The Liberal Democrats point out that in council by elections in the last couple of years, they have done pretty well. Even in areas that voted to leave. They will be hoping that this is the moment we are the start to claw some of those seats back. Theresa may in the local Newspaper Article said that the south west of england was the area that made the difference between a Chaotic Coalition of other parties and a strong conservative government. She was to hold onto those seats and increased majority. It isa it is a remarkable story of survival. And an incredible story of rescue. Matthew bryce, 22, from glasgow. He went surfing on a Beach In Campbeltown in argyll. Whenever he tried to come back in towards shore, he started to suffer from cramps and the tide was strong. He drifted a very long way out to sea, 13 miles away from the scottish coast. He went missing about 11 30am on Sunday Morning. The alarm was raised, likeables were involved. And then the Belfast Coastguard became involved. All of this culminated in a particularly dramatic rescue of the County Antrim coast of Northern Ireland. He drifted all the way from scotla nd ireland. He drifted all the way from scotland towards Northern Ireland. He was eventually picked up, winched to safety at 7 30pm yesterday evening just as darkness was falling. That means he had been in the water for falling. That means he had been in the waterfor more falling. That means he had been in the water for more than 32 hours. The North Channel is renowned as being dangerous and particularly cold. It has very strong currents. The coast guard has said that matthew was very lucky to survive and were delighted that they were able to recover him. He was still conscious. You can see his surfboard are still lying in the water is the Coastguard Team lifted him onto the helicopter to take to hospital in belfast. He is being treated and we are told he is any stable condition. Let us hear from the Belfast Coastguard who coordinated the final stages of that surf and soft and Rescue Operation. He had been surfing. When he attempted to come back to shore, we believe he suffered from cramp. He was unable to make his way against the tide. He drifted out and he stayed with his surfboard which is a vital thing to do. The conditions and the current that flows through the North Channel, into the atlantic from the irish sea, it was very strong and it would have an impact on how far the drifted out. The Coastguard Outlining what matthew did in order to keep themselves safe once realised he was in real trouble. Nonetheless, it is incredible that he did survive at sea for the length of time that he did through an entire day and an entire night, and then another day. More than 32 hours. The coast guard are wishing him well and we can only imagine the sense of relief when he saw that helicopter appeared overhead and somebody coming down to pick him out of the water and to safety. The labour leader defends the shadow Home Secretary diane abbott over her confusion about the cost of the partys pledge to put 10,000 new Police Officers on the streets of england and wales. A senior conservative source says it will not enter into a briefing war with the European Commission over the brexit talks, following reports of a difficult dinner between theresa may and Jean Claude Juncker. A surfer who went missing off the scottish coast is rescued by the coastguard after more than 30 hours clinging to his board. Let us get the sport. British athletes who may lose the World Records have received an apology from the man responsible for the anti doping proposal. He said that they are Collateral Damage. Paula radcliffe is amongst those who would have their records wiped as the sport tries to overcome that Doping Scandal and she says her reputation and dignity have been damaged by the records have been under scrutiny and the taskforce have made the recommendations to the iaaf, they say there is even Bigger Picture of reform to consider. Paula radcliffe has said the proposals are cowardly. They are trying to wipe out some very suspect records. The problem as they are telling us, we will do it with your dignity intact. It does not feel like that and it does not feel that athletics is that the we can feel that athletics is that the we ca n fully feel that athletics is that the we can fully guarantee that everybody who tries to cheat is getting caught and is not getting away with it. The family of murder victim guy hedger has paid tribute to a Caring And Compassionate Man who lived life to its full. Police are still searching for at least two people over the shooting of the Marketing Executive who was killed in his own home in st ives, near ringwood, dorset, on sunday. He later died in hospital. Simon clemison is at the scene. There is still quite a lot of Police Activity here at the scene. It is a very wealthy part of dorset. It is right on the edge of the new forest and they have got quite a lot of big, expensive houses here. Why this one in particular . That has been a big question for detectives. It does seem now at these very early stages of this investigation that it was, guy hedgers property was targeted for a reason. They think there was another man in the house at the time and he witnessed some of the events. He is very affected by that. They have not named. He will be a witness to talk to. They have not yet found the weapon, they have not recovered it, so lots and lots of lines for the police to get out here. In what is part of dorset that does not have a big problem with gun crime normally. This is very unexpected in this area. People here have been talking about how horrified they have been at this shooting and how distressed and shocked they are. This was, police say, an attack on an innocent man in an unlikely location. Now, one of the fields four Iconic Platforms has been decommissioned. John maguire reports from the able seaton port in hartlepool. A decade in the planning, butjust seconds in the execution, as the topside, as its known, is lifted off brent delta, and onto the Worlds Largest construction ship. The Pioneering Spirit was designed and built exactly for mammoth tasks such as this. 380 metres long and 124 metres wide across two hulls, its the size of an olympics Worth Of Sports Pitches and double decker buses. Speaking to the bbc before the world record lift, the captain of the ship says his is a dream job. It is one of the dreams to be the captain of a ship like this. This is as big as you can get in the world at the moment. The brent field, more than 100 miles north east of the shetlands, has been producing oil since the 1970s. Let us look at the weather. Good afternoon. You said it would be in your manifesto. You decided to talk about the figures. £300,000 would have meant 30 pounds per Police Officer. You then struggled to correct your figure. Did you not know them at all and you are guessing when you were asked about it on air . |j and you are guessing when you were asked about it on air . I knew the figures because i repeated them many times. I hadnt heard you im concerned you dont want to talk about policing, particularly with the rise in violent crime. You just wa nt to the rise in violent crime. You just want to go over the same thing. Well, thats your fault want to go over the same thing. Well, thats yourfault you want to go over the same thing. Well, thats your fault you are making claims that the Police Forces are underfunded but by going on air ina are underfunded but by going on air in a major interview where you just com pletely in a major interview where you just completely fluffed the figures, whether you knew them or you couldnt remember them. It doesnt do your cause any good. The public will understand that you arent willing to talk about the real issues and the real issues are that we have lost 20,000 Police Officers since 2010 and are seeing a rise in violent crime. You want to be Home Secretary. How do you think. We couldnt find the figures in a Press Release so i dispute you say you knew the figures. How can you claim to wa nt knew the figures. How can you claim to want to be Home Secretary in charge of the Police Forces in england and wales . Do you think you have instilled confidence in the voter . People listen to any of the interviews of any i gave this morning will know that i gave the figures. That was diane abbott speaking to jo coburn. Meanwhile speaking earlier the labour Leaderjeremy Corbyn said he Wasn T Embarrassed In The Slightest by Diane Abbotts performance and, speaking to reporters insisted she had his full support. 10,000 more Police Officers on the beat. That is what you would do if you we re that is what you would do if you were prime minister. How much is that going to cost . 300 million. £300 million. Diane abbott was on the radio earlier saying it was 80 million. In fact, she got a bit confused. She said 300,000 and then 80 million. But youre saying its 300 million . It will be paid for by not going ahead with the cuts in Capital Gains tax. Isnt it embarrassing that she got it wrong while voters are trying to get you to put their trust in them . Not at all. We corrected it, its now ina not at all. We corrected it, its now in a manifesto and send back embarrassed in the slightest. These cuts in Capital Gains tax that you are reversing, that would see £2. 7 billion, so they would be money left that other things. Youve talked about reversing cuts in Disability Benefits. Can i ask you to hold back a little . The manifesto hasnt been published yet. But all our policies accosted unfunded. And funded. John mcdonnell says are you still planning to use the money for the Disability Benefits . Are you going to pay for Teacher Shortages . Listen, its all funded. Its a question as to what we as a nation do. Do we continue Cutting Police numbers or put them back on the street or do we continue to support pcs owes or reduce them . Im speaking to local residents and they are telling me stories that you could hear in any local Community Around the country. Crime is increasing and anti social behaviour, this is because a lack of Police Officers, only arriving when there is a serious incident in parts of the community. When in the previous Labour Government we introduced more office rs government we introduced more officers and pcso s, crime fell. The police were seen as part of the community rather than just arriving when there is a big problem. I think this is an Important Development that we are putting forward. What about the new types of crime like cybercrime . Is this the best use for officers on the beat . Its a mixture of both. We dont want people to misbehave on the streets. We want young people to have positive things to do, therefore, looking at the numbers of Youth Services that are available, Youth Workers that are working for the councils are important. Yes, there is cybercrime, identity theft, serious issues like that, and here in southampton, being an industrial and university town, there is the complications surrounding thats the police are obviously stretched here. Jeremy corbyn out on the campaign in southampton. The german chancellor, Angela Merkel, will hold talks with the russian president , Vladimir Putin, In The Black Sea Resort of sochi today. The kremlin says they will discuss efforts to fight terrorism and the conflict in ukraine, which has strained relations between moscow and berlin. So what are the chances of a break though . A short time ago i spoke to our correspondence. The bbcs Steve Rosenberg is in moscow and jenny hill is in berlin. What Angela Merkel has wanted for some time which is both sides in the ukraine conflict to stick to that minsk agreement. In addition to that, i think she wants to discuss the situation in syria and talk about mr putins support for the assad regime. Going back to the ukraine, mrs merkel was one of the architects of that agreement and has been committed to getting both sides to agree to it. Also at the forefront of europe sticking to its imposition because russia has at times defaulted from the agreement. There is not much allusion here that there will be much of a positive outcome, but this is seen as continuing efforts on both of those subjects. How is it in russia . Very similar. I think it will be difficult for the two leaders to find a common language. Interesting because they both speak each others languages fluently. They have very different world views. Angela merkel sees herself as a defender of civil ideas, the European Union. Putin is an authoritarian leader, someone who comes across as wanting to undermine liberal, western democracy. Coming out of that you have major differences on a string of issues, from ukraine to syria to the future of europe. More than 300 disabled people a day are going to court to overturn a decision to reduce or stop their benefits and its costing taxpayers about a Million Pounds a week. The government is replacing what it calls the outdated Disability Living Allowance with pip or the personal Independence Payment. Official figures suggest that about 250,000 people have lost money in the switch, and the number of tribunals over the personal Independence Payment has risen sharply in the last year. 0ur reporter, jim reed, has followed two people as they go through the process of appealing. Debbie neal was diagnosed ten years ago with a rare kidney disease. She takes dozens of pills to manage the symptoms. This benefit doesnt stop because youre at work, it continues. Are you all right . I know its hard. Well get it all sorted out once and for all. Debbie has already asked for her case to be reviewed, and lost. Now she wants to go to tribunal in court, to ask a judge to overturn the decision. I do feel confident. Because, you know, iam ill and ive got. Ive got to believe it, even though i dont want to. Debbies hearing will take about an hour in court number two, in front of a judge, a doctor and a disability specialist. My emotions are all over the place at the moment. I dont want to be wrong. She is being represented by alex, but shell be questioned directly and in detail by all three of the tribunal members. An hour later, and the decision. Come here, chick. It has taken a year, but debbie has won her appeal. Most of her payments will now be guaranteed for the next ten years. That bit there, the decision made by Secretary Of State on the 4th of the 11th is set aside. I think thats the key wording. Its nerve racking. I was just been honest about how i feel, i couldnt do any more than that. The headlines on bbc newsroom live. A surfer who went missing off the scottish coast is rescued by the coastguard after more than 30 hours clinging to his board. Venezuelas president is to set up a group of ordinary citizens. Theres been clashes between protesters and police. Its become a familiar sight here. Running battles through the streets, testers versus police, hand held catapulted versus gas to canisters. This is one of south americas biggest shantytowns. Residents have faced food and water shortages for more than two years, a symptom of a long recession where the government and opposition blame each other. From monday, the president has ordered a 60 increase in the countrys minimum wage. Opponents say it will cause the Inflation Rate to soar. The green party has announced its strategy for brexit. Speaking this morning, the partys co leader Caroline Lucas says that people should have involvement in any final brexit negotiations. My people have fought hard is to try to make sure we stayed in the eu and i voted against the triggering of article 50. We accept that this was an instruction to the government to begin brexit negotiations. We do not accept that the decision should be irreversible. The referendum should be the start and not the end of the democratic process and it is therefore right that people themselves should have the right to have a say on the final deal of the Ratification Referendum of the eu, firmly on the ballot paper. People may say this is against the will of the people, but the idea that the burdick is irrevocable is a sham. Voters should have the right to revisit the choice of government they made at a previous election and it would be ludicrous to say that people cant change their minds as the facts change and their understanding deepens. People should be able to revisit a Referendum Result as long as all parties are clear as to what is on the table. Nightingales are britains most celebrated songbird but are under threat of extinction. This year, as they return from migration to the woods and thickets of southern england, theyre being welcomed back by something a bit different. As part of the First National nightingale festival, folk singers are Holding Concerts in woodlands so they can duet with the warbling birds. We sent our Arts Correspondent, David Sillito, to see if the birds would sing on cue. Music. We are here in green farm in kent. We are gathered in anticipation of being led into the forest at dark to go and listen to the nightingales sing. Sam lee, the man who is taking us Into The Woods to listen to and sing with nightingales in the dark, in the silence, down a lonely path with nightingales. In the dark, in the silence, down a lonely path into a forest, you find a stage. The most unlikely of auditoriums. But it is a stage. Is it worth me going down there . Absolutely. No one returns the same. The song of the nightingale. It is a fast disappearing wonder of the british countryside. Singing. And this nocturnal concert is just one of many taking place across the country, an attempt to reconnect us with what used to be the sound of spring. Oh, its amazing the nightingale, it is unparalleled in its virtuoso range. And it is in sharp decline . And it is dying out . They have declined by 62 in the last couple of years. Of course, the idea of Playing Music with a nightingale is not new. Beatrice harrisons Live Performances with them on the bbc were a sensation. But 90 years on i was worried. The woods sounded very quiet. I cannot see where my feet are. Are there really nightingales here . There are. You will hear them singing and it will grow louder and louder. Please, let it be true. It is important to remember that once upon a time this would have been the soundtrack to our spring. Every fire, every homestead, you could just go out and listen to the nightingales. So, that little, damp thicket, an oasis of song. The met ball is not the place to play it safe. And that unspoken rule, combined with this unconventional designers contribution, has led to a night of unique looks. Nada tawfik, bbc news, the met gala. In edinburgh, its the Driest Rainfall on record with only a few millimetres. A beautiful morning in the highlands. Not a cloud in the sky and it looks like it will be dry for you all week. Western scotland was the warmest place last week, there is a potentialfor a dip in temperature but things set to be dry unpleasant for the rest of the week. Asimilar unpleasant for the rest of the week. A similar story into Northern Ireland. There will be a scattering of showers coming off the north sea and anywhere south of the humber could see more extensive showers into the afternoon. In south west england, dry story, 14 15dc. In the evening, the breeze driving this Weather Front. In clearer spots, evening, the breeze driving this weatherfront. In clearer spots, a touch of frost, 5 7dc. A week Weather Front still threatening. There is the potential for Weather Front still threatening. There is the potentialfor some more showers into that south east corner, a Bit Ofa Showers into that south east corner, a bit of a breeze. Drier, more sunshine in the offing. A pleasant day but not as warm in Western Scotla nd day but not as warm in Western Scotland as it has been but nevertheless, 18 celsius is not out of the question. As we move out wednesday, weve still that week Weather Front just in wednesday, weve still that week Weather Frontjust in hard wednesday, weve still that week weatherfrontjust in hard is in cloud more than anything else. High pressure in the driving seat. That quiet story continues. The dry story continues. But with the wind bringing chilled water off the north sea it will feel just that little bit cooler. Labour launches its key Election Policy on policing, promising thousands of new officers on the street but theres embarrassment as the shadow Home Secretary gets confused over the figures. Diane abbott trips up over the detail of how much the new officers would cost. If we recruit the 10,000 policemen and women over a four year period we believe it will be about £300,000. £300,000 for 10,000 Police Officers . How much are you paying them . No, i mean, sorry.
