And outside where police lines were breached, there were protestors smashing windows and forcing their way in. And the senses that they are going to stick around for a while. Do you think that they were planning this . Youve been speaking to supporters all afternoon, was this what they wanted . They are certainly planning to march on the capital thats what they were told to do by donald trump are in no Uncertain Terms a few hours ago. Its a small sample size of those who actually broke into the building but not a sense that they had planned to get inside. But they certainly wanted to come to the capital and somehow send a message to elected officials that they needed to overturn this election. Encouraged of course by the words of their president who is still pedaling of course all these conspiracy theories about widespread fraud. Although there is no evidence to suggest that was the case. And hed heard around 60 cases hurled out of court around the country. Its going to take the Capitol Police a long time to get these Building Back to legislatures. Weve had reports of my palms around the building for some we seem pictures of people and nancy pelosi his office. Theyll have to be a com plete office. Theyll have to be a complete security sweep even once theyve got rid of these protesters before business can resume. You also have to assume that while there is no confrontation now thats because theres nobody to confront. Once they got to that rally, our president whipped them up. And this is what you have. We have an embarrassment, we are the embarrassment. But the country of this world to think of the greatest country in the world, the richest country in the world, the richest country in the world, the richest country in the world in this chaos. The first week of 2021 certainly has been a cold and wintry one with temperatures well below average in some of us have seen some sleet and some snow around too. A bit of sunshine picture ta ken on wednesday afternoon in county durham. For the coming few days, no great change in the general theme to the weather. Things staying cold with further ice and snow for some of us and also some freezing fog to contend with and things will eventually start to turn a little bit milder in the weekend but before we get there, we are still in this cold air. During wednesday, during wednesday, it was piling in from the north direction, provide a weak weather frontjust pushing its way into the northwest and through thursday morning, itll bring some snow to parts of scotland into the far north of england and several centimetres of snow across Northern Ireland by the time to thursday morning. Some freezing fog also likely to cross the parts of england and also into northwest england in the midlands into wales, but we will see that freezing fog lingering, temperatures are going to struggle to get above freezing. There will be some clear skies working from the north with further wintry showers but certainly another cold day ahead during thursday and thursday night, heading into friday, another cold night. So, a sharp frost around and do expect some slippery surfaces with some fresh snow lying place and some icy conditions as well. Heading into friday, we still got this weather front out this week for the front making its way southwards across england and wales so they could be for the snow almost anywhere to fairly low levels. We not expecting it to be too heavy but could be a bit significant for parts of the midlands and into wales and some fresh snowfall likely at times, fresh snow showers across parts of scotland and another cold day well all see in snow on friday and will be some sunshine as well. Moving through the weekend, a subtle change as we start to see milder air here, at least in the northwest, so clouding over Northern Ireland and scotland some sunshine showers wintry over the high ground. England and wales on saturday sting largely dry and still cold so as to bring the chilly air mass and perhaps some icy stretches, three to 5 degrees for most of us. Moving into the second half of the weekend, High Pressure trying to build in from the west, bringing some slightly milder air. So, a bit of a change in one direction and is start to see more of an western northwesterly direction the sunday bringing in a fair amount of cloud, perhaps the best of the sunshine towards eastern areas but it will bring some frost and fog patches to linger in for quite a good part of the day. Temperatures up a little bit compared to recent days, somewhere between four to 7 degrees with wet weather across the north of scotland all thanks to this front here. Moving on into monday, were going to see the influence of that front in the far north of the scotland, but elsewhere, largely dry. I think we are still in the relatively cool air. But things are starting to gradually change and it will take a few days before it starts to really warm up. But those winds are starting to come more of a westerly direction on monday. So, a little bit of dry weather with one or two showers for scotland, wintry of the high ground, but for most of us in sunny spells developing after a cold start in the afternoon around up to six or 7 degrees, through the course of next week, we are likely to see an area of low pressure bringing some wet weather over the first part of the week between monday 90 to and then, a ridge of High Pressure tries to build and towards the south so that should keep most of the unsettled weather and windy weather for the north of some dry conditions in the south, but which will notice to the course of next week, it will not be as cold and it will be turning milder.
