We they were making 100,000 every closing whole cities know some more details about these month, that when up to 100,000 a patients stopped 29 of them have week, and they are about to ramp up, is very unlikely in the uk. Recently travelled from abroad or to 260,000, every single day. This they have contracted the illness im joined by our health is the factory line behind me. The correspondent. At this time of day from clusters, small groups of cases product goes all the way round here we normally get an update on the which had already been identified and ends up in these bottles, where number of confirmed cases in the uk. Here, but three of the new announced we can see the big boss, chris confirmed today contracted the virus the department of health usually confirms the number of confirmed jones. Tell me what it has been in the uk so Health Officials now cases, and to date, we know that 53 like. Absolutely manic. We are are trying to establish how, whether people in the uk are confirmed cases that was directly or indirectly from someone who had recently returned of coronavirus with two more conscious every day, every minute from abroad and that takes the total identified in scotland this morning. That we are in work, all over the number who have contracted earlier today, weve been hearing world. You cannot keep up with coronavirus in the uk up to five, how emergency legislation has been having not travelled abroad introduced. Borisjohnson discussed demand. Not at all. At the moment this in the how comments during recently. That is a concern, when theissues demand. Not at all. At the moment the issues are in terms of raw people contracted it within the uk Prime Ministers questions, to materials becoming short, and caps rather than having been somewhere enable anyone who is off sick to for the containers are becoming claim statutory sick pay from day pretty short. Bottle manufacturers, where it is prevalent, like italy for example. All of those, apart one rather than day four. These are pa rt one rather than day four. These are part of government measures to we are reliant on other companies contain the spread of coronavirus. From five have recently travelled earlier today we had from the chief and the rest of the world. There are from five have recently travelled from italy, singapore, china, and medical adviser, chris whitty, who some manufacturers ramping up the said that it is likely although not price of this product. We certainly this is what doctors will be looking definite that there will be a uk at. Earlier today, the uk chief are not, we will have to increase epidemic, that there are measures in medical officer said it is likely place, measures that the government prices in proportion to whatever on that the uk could see an epidemic. Can take, and we should get an sale prices are imposed on us, but update on the number of cases at the end of the day we want to it is not definite yet but when you sometime this afternoon. Will bring produce a product for everybody and get those person to person we want to have customers at the that update to viewers as soon as we transmission is that becomes get them. In italy 79 people have increasingly likely. When the end, new customers. You would like government talks about an epidemic, to ta ke we dont know exactly what that died of coronavirus at the last end, new customers. You would like to take on more workforce, but you means in terms of numbers. We have count and they are considering some have concerns. We already have pretty drastic action to try to deal got 85 now, is an epidemic hundreds, with the coronavirus outbreak they coronavirus on the wirral, in an are, which is the worst in europe. Area where many of our staff live, thousands . The government is not putting a number on this at the and the issue is, whether we thats right. 2500 confirmed cases. Moment. Worst Case Scenario is that introduce the owners into our the Italian Government is 80 of people could get it, at its existing workforce, we could not afford for them to go off sick. Peak, one in five people could be considering all schools and universities across the country off work. The virus could take 2 3 closing, until the middle of march, thank you very much. We can meet months to reach its peak then 2 3 and that would just be in northern italy where the worst of the jane now, you can give us a little months to reach its peak then 2 3 months to reach its peak then 2 3 months to decline, and we know from outbreak, it could be across the demonstration of the right and wrong what we have seen in countries like country and would affect large way to apply this stuff, and also italy, germany, france, more similar tell me, is there a right or wrong public gatherings. They are to the uk than china for example, considering announcing this. We may product or are they all equal . This increase in cases, they should further get an update on that this certainly right or wrong product, expect that because we have seen afternoon. Similar measures are similar increases, like a 40 rise you need between 60 80 of happening across europe. France has closed a number of schools near in italy, in 2a hours, so this alcohol in your product or otherwise paris. That has been announced this afternoon too. In terms of what the you will not get the full increase here, of 32, isnt that surprising, although it is government has been announcing antibacterial and antiviral activity. In terms of how you put it concerning. Did department of health today, trying to speed up statutory on, it is important every part of put these figures out at 2pm every your hands needs to be covered. Sick pay. They are worried about day but they say they will not give people who are not self isolating, sta rt your hands needs to be covered. Start with the palms of your hands, a regional breakdown, why is that . Then the back, in between your fingers, carry on between your oi people who are not self isolating, or the Economic Impact that might have on workers and families across fingers. Do you have got to keep usually in the afternoon they have released details of where each case doing this. 2030 seconds, i dont the country. Anyone who earns over has been diagnosed and where the patients had come from, but theyve £118 a week is able to claim sick know if that is singing happy said today on twitter that due to birthday twice, i havent checked it the number of new cases they are no pay, but only after three days on out, but here we go, done. And the longer going to be doing that every paid, you get it on the fourth day, 110w paid, you get it on the fourth day, day. Instead the information will be now it has been introduced, this government says this cant replace your basic hot water and soap hand emergency legislation that people released centrally in a consolidated can get it from day one. It is my wash. Absolutely not. The whole format online, once a week, the understanding that employers would first one being on friday, so these stump up the cash for that but then thing is the most important part, patients today that we are talking there is a emergency reserves within about, we are not exactly sure where keep your hands clean, dont touch there is a emergency reserves within the government to potentially your eyes, nose and mouth with backfill, but there are concerns, in the country, it has not been unclean hands, because that is how confirmed where they are, but the tuc union saying that there are 2 Million People who may not be you introduce the virus into your eligible to receive this because body. The virus needs a host by because the cases are coming quicker they are self employed or on now which is what we were warned to zero hours contracts or they do not which to survive. This palette is earn £118 a week. In terms of what expect, we require a lot of information to be released on that, going to go off to british gas. That counsel sick leave, the health isa going to go off to british gas. That is a new contract. This one here is daily. For the general public, im secretary matt hancock said sure there is some concern around yesterday that if anyone was self going to the Hong Kong Health that, there certainly seems to be on isolating, that would be confirmed authority, another new contract. As being sick, so they would count they just cannot social media, people reacting, authority, another new contract. Theyjust cannot keep up with demand, here. Jane mccubbin and i wanting to know where the cases are, towards getting statutory sick pay. If there will be a cluster in their im being told the new number of town, so this is very much on going. Guess for some good advice about how to wash your hands. Do we actually confirmed cases in the uk is 85, so thank you once again, lauren moss, need hand sanitiser or should be it has gone up quite dramatically just be washing with soap . Doctor our Health Correspondent, with the latest from the government on those from 53, gone up by about 30, 32, up sally burnfield is a professor at figures. Speaking at Prime Ministers questions, borisjohnson said new laws were being introduced to 85, a pretty serious increase. To help people eligible the London School of hygiene and for statutory sick pay. That would be the largest increase tropical medicine and joins us from beth hale is an employment lawyer we have seen in the uk stock the google. We saw there a bit of advice and partner at cm murray. Largest previous one was on sunday on how to wash our hands, but how when we saw 13 more cases, and now thank you very much for being with important is it, in this current going up to 85, that is the largest us. Just talk us through what this situation with coronavirus, that we increase we have seen. There have wash our hands, and how often should we be doing that every day . Would mean now because anyone who been similar increases in other goes into self isolation, the countries in europe over the last government under minister are saying several days. Italy, germany, dig government has said theres only they should not be punished for france, cases they have almost so much we can do, and the public doubled or up 40 in 24 hour period doing the right thing. The has its part to play to prevent that government seems to be suggesting anyone currently entitled to and so doubled or up 40 in 24 hour period so perhaps we shouldnt feel quite spreading in the community. Very key so so perhaps we shouldnt feel quite so alarmed that this is happened in pa rt spreading in the community. Very key eligible for statutory sick pay, the sense that we were expecting it, part of that is hygiene. In fact, battle kicking on the first day but it is concerning, and it brings alcohol Hand Sanitisers and hand rather than three days absence as washing with soap are equally is normal. We havent seen the us but it is concerning, and it brings us close to what the chief effective, but the bill at different government adviser was saying, that details and exact legislation yet. We are nearing the stage where there times when we need to be washing our one thing to be borne in mind is would be an epidemic of the hands. I think the public are that the cost of statutory sick pay coronavirus, which would cause looking for a bit more information increasing pressure on the nhs. The on what we mean by washing our hands is borne by the employer, not the government. On the face of it, government says it is prepared to frequently. I think the best way to meet those pressures, but 85 cases describe it is to do it when you get u nless government. On the face of it, unless the government indicates otherwise that additional cost, that now confirmed in the uk. When they to go say space. For example, if will be welcome clarity for workers talk about an epidemic being down youve been out and about, affected, but it will pose the road, what does that mean in travelling to work or whatever, when terms of numbers, are we talking additional costs to employers. What you get home commuting a mackerel are the rules and regulations been touching all sorts of things, about hundreds or thousands, wash your hands, because the way surrounding sick pay in terms of what you have to prove . Do you have potentially . They are reluctant to youre mostly to get infected is by put an exact number on what that to have a doctors letter if you touching something that has been would mean, but we know that in the touched by somebody else and then are incisor self isolation, you worst Case Scenario, up to 80 of touching your own mouth, eyes and probably dont want to go to a gp nose. Your hands at the last line of the uk population could be affected surgery, do you . Nhs111 can issue defence. So as soon as you get to by coronavirus, but that said, it is your site, like your home, wash your hands so you know youre safe and felt that the majority would certificates where theyve experience mild to moderate flu like you can get comfortable. It is systems symptoms and could recommended self isolation and there self isolate and treat themselves at different when youre travelling, so home, but there could be more severe are guidelines for doctors to do the cases, and we know from other youre on a crowded bus or train or same. It is a logistical issue which countries like china and italy who aeroplane, ok, in an aeroplane, you is not that difficult to overcome. Have been most affected by this, we can get up and go to the toilet and you dont want people crowding into are talking about elderly people who wash your hands, but then you had to have pre existing medical can get back to your seat, your seat as gp surgeries to get certificates, because that increases the public conditions, the government has health risk. What the government has wrapped up its Public Information your safe place, and youre going to Campaign Today urging us all to wash be touching surfaces as you move back to your seat that had probably outlined on sick pay, is that they oui Campaign Today urging us all to wash our hands thoroughly and that sort been touched by other people. At the welcome clarification as far as of thing, to curb the spread of the youre concern . It is a really moment, its unlikely youre in a cabin with another person who is virus. Lauren moss, our Health Welcome clarification. People have been talking for some days about the infected, but its like wearing a lack of clarity, and the fact that correspondent, thank you, there is car seat belts, we have to assume latest coronavirus figures, 85 matt hancock has been in the news confirmed cases in the uk. That is a there might be. So not only wash saying that people will be entitled your hands in the toilets, when you to statutory sick pay if they get back to your seat use and jump confirmed cases in the uk. That is a jump of 32, on the last figure we self isolate, the condition has not alcohol hand sanitiser because you yet been clear until now, so we have had which was 53. A huge economic dont need soap and water for dance. To see the detail, but it doesnt impact around the world of the and also when on the go, if you stop help people such as freelancers, coronavirus outbreak, and the imf is and want to get a snack, do not holding a News Conference right now about the virus. Lets listen in for occur start eating that snack until people who dont otherwise qualify for statutory sick pay, low paid about the virus. Lets listen in for youve sanitised your hands. A moment. So we can be ready to step workers who dont qualify because they earn below the lower earnings remember that all the time youre limit, still will not qualify for moving around, the more crowded the up, and for that, a moment. So we can be ready to step up, and forthat, we a moment. So we can be ready to step place youre moving around in, the statutory sick pay, and those most more likely you are to just up, and for that, we have three possibly, its not likely at the vulnerable people, they are still at sources, thanks to the generosity of moment and it will happen to people risk. This doesnt help them. Would and it is happening to people, we oui sources, thanks to the generosity of our membership we rely on the 1 you expect or urge the government to have cases now but we cannot trace do something to protect them . What trillion of overall lending capacity. For low Income Countries where it is exactly come from, so the Prime Minister said today was and for emerging middle income its about washing your hands they would consider that position countries, we do have rapidly frequently and thinking about the and they were looking at it. A lot times when your hands are most of the people in the lowest earning bracket are people doing some of the disbursing emergency financing, up likely to be contaminated. Thats all good advice. I can ask you about work which will be most important, to 50 billion that does not require one thing in italy where there is a a fully fledged imf programme, and d raft one thing in italy where there is a draft decree where the government i care, social care, health care, think people should not shake hands theres people might well be affected by this. You dont want three with the catastrophic or hug in an effort to prevent the those people having to go to work containment and relief trust, it feeling that they have to do, in provides eligible countries, some of spread of coronavirus. We know its much more serious in italy at the order to paid, when they are unwell the poorest countries, with upfront moment than here, should we be and may pose a Public Health risk to gra nts to shaking or not shaking hands or hugging . I think its something we those they are caring for. The the poorest countries, with upfront grants to relieve imf, we call on government has a battle plan if the membership to step up, we have there is an epidemic, about people dont need to overstress because, in 200 million, we would like to increase this this capacity so we working from home. Do you think the scheme of things, when you shake employers should take a pragmatic can respond to the most vulnerable, hands with another person, there is approach on that and let people work so can respond to the most vulnerable, so let me finish by saying we are just one person, the risk of that from home, if this outbreak does get fully committed to support our person in a 65 million in this members. We heard their call today, country being infected is very significantly worse . Absolutely. This morning. We have the tools to small. The bigger risk is when lots of employers are starting to do help, and we are coordinating very youre ina small. The bigger risk is when that already. The practical youre in a large room or theatre, difficulty is that some industries, closely with partner institutions. Cinema, crowded place, where there thank you. The managing director of that isnt possible. If you work on are up to 80 people, the chances of one of those people being infected the front line, with caring or providing services to people, if you is greater, so i think we need to be the imf there, saying that they work in manufacturing, you cannot not too conflicted on this one to expect Global Growth in 2020 will work in manufacturing, you cannot work from home. You have to be there, doing the work, in the dip below last years levels. Lets one hand shaking. Personally, i talk to our economics editor faisal think its a pity that her majesty, factory, in the workplace, wherever. Where that is not the case and where herjob is to shake peoples hands, is possible to work from home, islam. A huge global Economic Impact employers should take a pragmatic and we noticed she was wearing as we have already seen, and it is view, and some employers are already gloves yesterday. That just interesting to see what people like and we noticed she was wearing gloves yesterday. Thatjust means her gloves are getting contaminated, doing that, with employees working from home because they can, and the imf and the world bank and other and she starts rubbing her eyes or globalfinancial nose, she could be getting infected. Because it stops people circulating the imf and the world bank and other Global Financial institutions will do to try to help the global on public transport, and minimises and she shaking hands with people that risk. Thank you very much and could be passing them from one economy. That was the imf managing person to the next in the line. She director. She was talking specifically about a 12 billion is the person i really feel for. But indeed, beth hale, and employing funding line, that the imf wants to use to help low Income Countries. In terms of us and shaking one employment lawyer and partner at cm remember, in health terms, the big persons hand, we need to put that murray. Lets take a look at the concern, although it is concerning to one side and focus on whats main developments outside the uk. And off in countries like ours in really important, which is when we italy is considering italy, the big concern is that if are out and about in crowded places, closing all schools when we travel, trying not to touch and universities for two weeks and when coronavirus hits those to contain the spread of the virus. Nations that have a Health System handrails and so forth unless its they are also thinking about setting absolutely necessary. Right not to up a new quarantine red zone thatis nations that have a Health System that is less able to cope, that has near the Northern City of bergamo, touch our mouth, nose and eyes, and less of the machinery, less of the facilities, to be able to stop the its very difficult. Apparently, we touch our mouth probably as much as after a new tally showed 27 people spread, and so, the imf and the died there in 2a hours. World bank working together, to try 37 times an hour without even to help the funding of those less and there have been 15 new deaths knowing were doing it. So its about being conscious that our hands in iran, bringing their total to 92. Developed countries to be able to deal with that. They have had a are our last line of defence. Thank our correspondent bethany you so much. Im sure if her majesty bell is in milan. Meeting over the telephone. These earlier, she explained the thought process behind the Italian Governments attempts meetings next month have been the queen is watching, she will take cancelled or replaced with virtual all of that advice on board. Moving to contain the virus. Meetings between the imf and world away from coronavirus, lets talk bank. They had that meeting talking they are complicated because they amongst finance ministers about what had been talking about having a to do. There was another meeting about the latest political meeting in the next few hours to situation, because the Prime Minister has been defended the home decide whether or not they are going yesterday, a teleconference, of the secretary in the face of bullying to close down all of those schools g7 finance ministers, where they allegations that she has denied. And universities. This is what came up with other types of weapons priti patel, who sat next to mr bethany told me. Johnson at Prime Ministers against the economic fear caused by to put this into context, the coronavirus impact, and they questions today and has not publicly the schools and universities commented on the allegations. Our in parts of the north of the country have already been closed for a number of days in an attempt didnt agree, for example, do a two political correspond it is at westminster. Is this a growing storm to try and control the spread common view on cutting Interest Rates. The Us Federal Reserve went and what the government is now around priti patel and potentially considering is whether they do that ahead with cutting rates by the for the rest of the country as well. Biggest amount we have seen since the financial crisis, and the quite dangerous for the government . We hope to hear a decision from them i think quite dangerous for the government . Ithink so, quite dangerous for the government . I think so, because these at some point this afternoon. Allegations started off with the markets didnt particularly like home office, the dramatic this comes amidst the growing number that, and fell. One of the issues resignation of the most senior civil here is that there is a debate about servant there, accusing her of of people testing positive what is the right economic tonic for bullying, then its moved on, there for the coronavirus in italy, a potential pandemic. Make cuts . May have been other accounts and suggestions by some that the same over 2500 now, and 79 deaths. Thing happens when she was a be. Or is it more specific policy minister in other departments. Now, so this is a time where the italian measures which are targeted very officials, Health Officials, she has always categorically denied specifically at those sectors which any of this and come up until today, are suffering. Today in the uk we are recommending to people very much have seen this change to statutory there has been the strong support that they should wash their hands, sick pay. Actually, that will be for herfrom there has been the strong support for her from conservative mps that people should maintain safe publicly and also from the prime funded by businesses, small and distances from each other minister, so all eyes were very much and also suggesting that elderly large, having to pay for the first on borisjohnson today to see if he people should stay indoors as much as possible. Three days of anybodys sickness would repeat that support for her in during this period of coronavirus. The light of more allegations. This is what he had to say. And also they are suggesting that people cancel big Public Events. The home secretary is doing an outstanding job, delivering a number of sporting events have so that is one of the measures being change, putting police out on the street, cutting been closed, everything crime and delivering taken, other so that is one of the measures being ta ken, other measures so that is one of the measures being a new immigration system, and im sticking by her. From Milan Fashion Week has been taken, other measures are planned, affected and the venice carnival was affected. Specific measures rather than the broader measure seen elsewhere. So people had been bracing themselves for these and it looks thank you. Lets talk to the so could not be more fulsome, going like we could see some more. Further than we had before. It was are people in italy questioning professor of Health Protection at the university of east anglia. Thank interesting he talked about this the authorities and wondering why policy issues, immigration and the the outbreak in that country you forjoining us, weve hear these light of brexit, crime as well, and is so much worse than in any other european country and why latest figures, confirmed cases in the government feel she is in tune the uk rising to 85, is set properly with voters and saying, she is the death toll is so high . Trying to implement what people within line with the projection she would have been expecting . We would voted for, and they would suggest in terms of the death toll, privately that this is really people the Authorities Say that those trying to undermine her, to stop her who have died were vulnerable never have guessed which day it was people, elderly people, people with Underlying Health issues. Doing that. The problem with priti going to happen, but it was almost patel is, yes, she may have the certainly going to happen sometime support of the Prime Minister, but soon. I think one has to be very there is this investigation which is many of those deaths have going to happen, that is under way come from the clusters careful about reading too much into where the outbreaks appeared a single days figures, although in the Cabinet Office, and possibly in northern italy, from hotspots. This is quite a dramatic increase. At the moment, we dont know where more dangerous is the threatened yes, there are Big Questions tribunal from the senior civil being asked here these cases have come from, if they how did it spread so much . Servant who resigned from the home are scattered around the uk or if they represent a cluster, such as a office. That could be incredibly coach trip returning from italy or damaging. For now, it seems she is the italian authorities replied that something. Its a bit early to safe, but the fact that sir philip one reason they have so many people realise what the full implications came out and talked about all this testing positive is that theyre publicly is in fact in built and doing lots and lots of tests, are of these figures, but its testing people who even certainly worrying and certainly to other Civil Servants who normally dont show symptoms. So in those clusters, be expected that were going to see would be quite about this to people in those hotspots, they have tested more of that in the coming days. And that is the real danger for many, many people and we were told by the Health Authorities yesterday priti patel in the coming weeks. Worrying but still part of what the that, of the people in those hotspots, about half of them government has called the containment phase . Yes, again, that has emboldened other civil are being treated at home. They either have no symptoms servants. The headlines the number or very mild symptoms. Because at the moment i dont know but this is a matter of big concern. Where these cases are or if they are of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the numbers do keep rising, scattered all around the country, the uk has risen to 85 as a public and the Italian Government is under then the containment phase becomes a great deal of pressure now to try Health Campaign urges people to wash and do everything it can to stop it. Very uncertain, but if theyre most their hands regularly. You and in the meantime, people here are saying, of them relating to a particular government measures are announced to whats it help deal with the outbreak. People event or case, then the value of who self isolate will get statutory doing to our economy and tourism . Sick pay from their first day off containment still holds good at the Big Questions here, and you have people veering from saying, work. And in italy, where 79 people were worrying about our health to, moment. And the governments have died because of the virus, the strategy, as outlined by the prime government is now considering minister so far, is that sensible, closing down at all schools and were worried about our economy. Do you think, have they got that universities. Right . It does not have a huge that is bethany bell, in milan, with amount of information on it, gives the latest from italy. There will be an indication of the sorts of things your business headlines as youve the government are able to implement, but not when and if been hearing, the government has another cobra meeting here at 5pm, announced changes to statutory sick anything in particular will be implemented. And to a certain pay to contain the coronavirus. The chaired by Health Secretary matt extent, thats to be expected, hancock and the Prime Minister has tuc has also called for the because until we know what is government it to support workers who held a briefing with the chancellor, happening with the outbreak, how dont qualify for statutory sick pay, such as those on 0 hour Health Secretary, chief medical many cases weve got across the officer and chief scientific contracts. Share prices have started officer. And also this afternoon we country, whether theyre concentrated in a relatively small have heard from the International Moving upwards again as investors number of cities or towns or if the monetary fund. Inspect governments to increase spread evenly across the country, we wont really know what is the best their spending to counteract the Economic Impact of the virus. And strategy to use. But certainly, its there are renewed concerns for the it has been holding a News Conference. They said the coronavirus outbreak poses a serious threat highly likely that a number of the future of mm, the Company Behind to the world economy. Options given in that report will be many of the uks bigger shopping implemented and well have to wait centres. It is citing extreme market until nearer the date to find out one third of the economic losses from the disease will be direct from exactly what that means and how the conditions. The owner of government is going to implement manchesters Trafford Centre has been struggling with debt and a loss of life, workplace closure and that and what degrees of coercion or growing number of its retail tenants quarantine. The remaining two thirds going out of business. So will be indirect, reflecting a encouragement government will be coronavirus is a big impact on the retrenchment in consumer and markets in the last few days, down giving it to get us to comply with than up, whats happening now . Were business behaviour and tightening in the guidance of the time. Thank you in an era of volatility, markets on financial markets, in other words, very much. Thank you. I am joined the up once again, but that is not the impact of uncertainty. We also because things are looking better. Know that we have a sound financial last week, stock markets around the world hides their best week since the guidance of the time. Thank you very much. Thank you. I amjoined by the financial crisis and today weve system, much more resilient than it the chief deputy executive of nhs was before the Global Financial hides a warning from the International Monetary fund that it providers, the group that represents was cutting its forecast for global crisis. However, what we are nhs trusts. We have these new growth this year, there would be wrestling with is uncertainty. And lower growth than we saw last year. Figures, 85 people confirmed to have one of the reasons that markets are that defines our projections, which the coronavirus, how concerned are gaining today is that investors are at this point, lead us to state that hearing and digesting suggestions you about the rising figure, quite a dramatic rise today, and whether the that governments will boost public nhs asa spending to counteract the economic dramatic rise today, and whether the nhs as a whole can cope . As you say, impact of the coronavirus. Michelle Global Growth in 2020 will dip below thatis is on the floor of the new york nhs as a whole can cope . As you say, that is a big rise weve were today, stock exchange. Michelle, the us but as your previous guest said, we last yea rs levels, need to keep that under review and Federal Reserve took investors by see what that actually means, surprise yesterday by announcing a Global Growth in 2020 will dip below last years levels, but how far it whether that is a blip or continues will fall, and how long the impact surprise yesterday by announcing a to rise. What we do know is that surprise cut to the Interest Rate and there is expectations at the Central Banks here in the uk and hospital trusts and other Health Europe might do likewise. Markets would be, is still difficult to services around the country are now predict. That is the managing into preparation mode for this, they underwhelmed by what the fed did yesterday, is any sense that the us director of the international all have their emergency could unleash fiscal stimulus too . |j monetary fund. The imf have also preparedness and resilience response been speaking about a 12 billion plans, theyve got Business Fund to help low Income Countries. Continuity in place and they will be think that is the key question. Preparing for any likelihood of a various things are being floated substantial number of infected our economics editor around, there was one suggestion faisal islam explained people coming through their doors. I that the Trump Administration could why it would be significant. Consider using an Emergency Fund to think its safe to say that plans are in place but we do have to help pay for an insurer to people the big concern is if coronavirus, remember that there are pressures on who dont have Health Insurance, he when coronavirus hits those nations need to be treated for coronavirus, the workforce already. So, making because of course Health Insurance sure we can actually get sufficient that have a Health System that is workforce in when they may and treatment here in america is less a ble that have a Health System that is themselves be affected by the virus very, very expensive. The other less able to cope, that has less of the machinery, less of the thing people have discussed is is absolutely critical, and making whether or not paid sick leave might facilities, to be able to stop the sure we have the physical space to bea whether or not paid sick leave might be a good idea, since it might spread, and so the imf and the world do what we need to do, particularly encourage people who are showing some symptoms to stay at home. Bank working together, to try and setting up isolation wards, for whereas, if you dont get paid, you example. There is a whole host of things that need to be done now but help the funding of those may feel you have to go to work and less developed countries, to be able cant afford not to. These are the to deal with that, that threat, we are in containment phase still andi we are in containment phase still and i think its really important kinds of things being discussed, the theyve had a meeting over the that we still focus on preventing the spread of this and identifying administration is not confirming telephone, because these meetings whether or not thats what theyre are happening, indeed these those vulnerable groups who need face to face meetings next month have been cancelled or replaced with specific protection as well as considering. There is also pressure making the larger scale preparations on the Federal Reserve from donald virtual meetings, but they had a that are needed to treat people, meeting talking amongst finance trump, yesterday various comments via twitter and at a conference should they become infected. And you where he was speaking and for ministers about what to do there. There was another meeting yesterday, talked about those preparations and congress to try and do more. But in the government were indicating yesterday that could include terms of fiscal action, what are the a teleconference, of the g7 finance tools available, that is something cancelling or postponing routine ministers. They came up with other surgery, routine operations, hip we will talk about more and more. And what of the issues on the minds weapons against the economic fear replacements, that kind of thing . We caused by the coronavirus impact. Have seen that in other of the investors . Its wednesday today but they are looking back to and they didnt agree to a common super tuesday and the results of the circumstances, where weve seen view on cutting Interest Rates. The demands go up substantially, so its very difficult to have enough democratic primary is . A real hangover, but of the good kind for a intensive care or high dependency change here. The markets upjust shy Us Federal Reserve cut rates by the biggest amount since the financial unit beds available in order to treat emergency demand that comes crisis, and an emergency setting the through the door as well as those of 2 right now. You are seeing the biggest weve seen since the financial crisis but the markets ongoing, what we call elective, but momentum from last night, the strong didnt like that, and fell. There is day to day operations hospitals will a debate about what is the right carry out. It is also worth performance that joe economic tonic for a potential remembering there are precious momentum from last night, the Strong Performance thatjoe biden had an across other bits of the health super tuesday spilling out into the pandemic. Rate cuts . May be, or is service as well. Mental health trust stock markets. It speaks of the fear will be working out how they manage it more specific policy measures which are targeted specifically at any infections in their inner street has about a Bernie Sanders presidency. If you look at the patient units and what they do about stocks are performing the best community consultations. We also sectors that are suffering. So today tonight, they are health care in the uk we have seen this change stocks. When i last checked a few know that Ambulance Services are statutory sick pay. That will be under significance strain. They have minutes ago, you are talking about names like United Health care and funded by businesses, small and probably had three times as many anthem, all up 2 . Looking at some large, having to pay for the first calls as they would expect on 111, three days of anybody during this and when they convey someone to of the market numbers, big gains hospital who may be affected with enjoyed by investors here in london period of coronavirus. So that is the virus, they then have to undergo a deep clean of that vehicle. They and new york. Morrison supermarket one of the measures that are taking. Was the top gainer today, because other budget measures are planned are also experiencing substantial people are buying things like and targeted here in the uk, rather challenges, it is notjust limited sanitiser and pasta and the pound than the broader measures that we to hospital trusts. Have seen elsewhere. In the last few challenges, it is notjust limited to hospitaltrusts. Thank challenges, it is notjust limited to hospital trusts. Thank you very much indeed. You represent the group has recovered today. This is an expectation that the bank of england is going to cut rates sooner rather minutes, canada has cut its interest that represents National Health service trusts. The latest than later. The duke and duchess of rate. The bank of canada slashing its benchmark Interest Rate down to information on the additional number of confirmed cases in the uk of cambridge on the second day of their visit to ireland, there are in 1. 125 dublin visiting a centre that coronavirus, and the chief medical provides Mental Health support for its benchmark Interest Rate down to 1. 125 1. 25 , from its benchmark Interest Rate down to 1. 125 1. 25 , from 1. 75 . That is young people. In the face of the coronavirus officerfor england coronavirus, and the chief medical the duke and duchess have come outbreak, saying that it will cut officer for england has said that as to the centre of government, again if it is needed to cut the temple bar district of 9am this morning, 32 more here and an organisation that embraces their key economic growth, so the canadians cutting the Interest Rate from patients in england have tested interests of use and Mental Health. This is the shift from day one which positive. 29 were diagnosed that had 1. 75 , down to 1. 25 . Recently travelled from recognised is the ceremonial, and they finished countries or from recognised with a pint of the black stuff clusters which were under at the guinness brewery. Investigation. Three additional today, we have smaller organisations aligned with their personal interests the london book fair has been patients contracted the virus in the are here Mental Health and youth cancelled because of coronavirus, and other global events have been uk, so thats within the uk, and and then off to a socialjustice cancelled across europe. Charity and thatis uk, so thats within the uk, and that is not yet clear whether the liz taylor, is the ceo after that, they will talk of the taylor lynn corporation, contract that is not yet clear whether the co ntra ct of that is not yet clear whether the which is an Event Management contract of it directly or indirectly from an individual had recently returned from abroad break about Sustainable Agriculture at the company. Thank you so much for being with us. My code that is being investigated technology institute. This must be a real concern for you, and Contact Tracing has begun. The the idea of events are being sprinkling goodwill, and a little bit of stardust and building cancelled even though the government total number of confirmed cases in friendships and relations has said we dont yet have an england is now 80, thats what the epidemic, we are still in the between britain and ireland. Containment phase, but already events a re containment phase, but already events are being cancelled. Chief medical officerfor england is now 80, thats what the chief medical officer for england is now to look at the weather. A mixed saying. 80 in england, and that precautions are being put in place. Follows a previously reported that is what we are here to do, we confirmed cases in Northern Ireland, picture at the moment through this are trying very hard not to panic. Wales and scotland. The total number evening, rain in the midlands, of uk cases of coronavirus is now southern england and east anglia, from the corporate perspective we further north, the sky is brighter. Have got scat, technology, facetime, a bit of sunshine left in the day 85, quite a big jump, of uk cases of coronavirus is now 85, quite a bigjump, as of uk cases of coronavirus is now 85, quite a big jump, as weve been so all of these Corporate Events and there. Overnight, this first band of the conferences that are due to take hearing, from 53, our last total. Place can still, in effect, happen. Rain fizzles out, then returning looking at the other main later in the night to southern it is the private events that are developments lay outside the united coastal counties. Credit for most of going to suffer the most and the kingdom, italy is considering england and wales keeping the frost at bay. Further north, a clear night closing down all schools and implications that are associated with them. When you say private universities for two weeks to contain the spread of the virus. For the most part and getting cold events, what kind of things do you with a widespread, sharp frost mean, and what sort of numbers would theyre also thinking about setting up theyre also thinking about setting upa new usually attend . We do a lot of theyre also thinking about setting up a new quarantine red zone near developing. Tomorrow night, cloudy the Northern City of bergamo, after rainfor destination weddings. A lot of developing. Tomorrow night, cloudy rain for the Channel Islands and the a new tally showed 27 people had people looking to get married in south of england, the rain flirting italy who have already booked or are with the south coast of england died there i had the last 2a hours. Where we also have strong winds about to go, theyve cancelled, they thereup in 15 new deaths in iran, have got no insurance, even if you feeling cooler than today. Away from ta ke have got no insurance, even if you take out events insurance, they do bringing the total in that country the far south, a day of sunshine and to 92. We will talk a little more showers, the shower is more frequent not cover force majeure. In the north west of scotland and now about the situation in italy, take out events insurance, they do for Northern Ireland too, some could not coverforce majeure. You have got hotels that will not refund, the have hail mixed in for good measure. 00 25 27,686 4294966103 13 29,430 temperatures between six and ten. Our correspondence is in milan and implications are huge, and it that the government have been faced with this rising death toll, clearly doesnt help if it is postponed. That, those are the immediate events the worst in europe, they are that are happening. There you have considering some pretty stark people looking to get married in the measures, some pretty extreme measures, some pretty extreme summerand measures, some pretty extreme measures, some would say, in terms people looking to get married in the summer and early autumn. And at this of possibly closing down all schools and universities . To put this into stage i dont think any of us are in a position to know what is going to happen. I think it is the lack of control and knowledge that is more context, the schools and frightening than anything else. Universities in parts of the north of the country have already been people are cancelling these events not because they are being told to closed for a number of days in an or because they have to come because attempt to try and control the they think they should. A bit of spread and watch the government is now considering is whether they do both. Italy is a no go area. You that for the rest of the country as cant fly there. No one will host well. We hope to hear a decision you, you cant do anything. You are from them at some point this in effect being told to. Then my afternoon. This comes at midst the growing number of people testing daughter was due to fly over from new work in a couple of weeks, and positive for the coronavirus in British Airways has cancelled all italy, over 2500 now, and 79 deaths. The fights, so we are all out of control of it but we should not panic because the precautions they are putting in place for that reason so this is a time when the italian only, and i think that long term it will resolve itself, and all will be officials, Health Officials, are recommending to people very much good, i hope so. We all hope so. And that they should wash their hands, that they should wash their hands, that people should maintain a safe the big events, sporting events, of distances from each other and also course, everyone is worrying about suggesting that elderly people those in the next few months. Should stay indoors as much as immediately those have to be cancelled, concerts, the rugby has possible. And also they are suggesting that people cancel big been postponed, football matches Public Events and a number of will inevitably be postponed, i sporting events have been closed, think it is inevitable and it is for everyones safety, and i think that everything from Milan Fashion Week we have to respond to what we are has been affected and the venice being told to do. Financially, it is carnival was affected. So people had been bracing themselves for these and it looks like we could see some uncertain, and certainly very more. Are people in italy distressing, especially as i said for the private clientele. You are questioning the authorities and wondering why the outbreak in that country is so much worse than in any indicating, that with conferences and so on, you can do it online, other european country and why the death toll is so high . In terms of skype, webcam, that kind of thing. That is not quite the same as face to face, but can you have some the death toll, the Authorities Say meetings like that . 100 . Lots of that those who have died were vulnerable people, elderly people, meetings like that . 100 . Lots of meetings take place like that people with Underlying Health anyway. People have overseas offices, people that work abroad, so issues. Many of those deaths have lots of business is done through come from the clusters where the skype. Technology is phenomenal outbreaks appeared in northern these days, and facetime. Even italy, from hotspots. Yes, there are through e mail, you can correspond over e mail and a conference or Big Questions being asked here, how meeting that you might have had in did it spread so much did you make place, you can do sort of different the italian authorities replied that one recently have so many people ways. Technology comes to the fore, and we should embrace it and use it, testing positive is that theyre doing lots and lots of tests, and we should embrace it and use it, and not panic and have it as a back up. It is not a negative. It is testing people who evenly dont show symptoms in those clusters, in those definitely a positive. Liz taylor, hotspots they have tested many, many people and we were told by the Health Authorities yesterday that, ceo of the taylor lynn corporation, of the people in those hotspots, an ceo of the taylor lynn corporation, a n eve nts ceo of the taylor lynn corporation, an Events Management company, thank about half of them are being treated you. Coming up, will be answering at home. Either have no symptoms or your questions on what your rights very mild symptoms of. But this is a are if events or travel plans are matter of taking our concern, the postponed or cancelled. You can get numbers to keep rising, and the Italian Government is under a great deal of pressure now to try and do everything it can to stop it. And in in touch. The meantime, people here are saying, whats it doing to our lets get more now economy and tourism . Saying, whats it doing to our economy and tourism . Big questions here, and you have people veering on the breaking news that Mike Bloomberg has pulled out from, were worrying about our of the race to be the Democrats Health too, were worried about our nominee for the 2020 economy. Thank you very much. Coming president ial elections. Up economy. Thank you very much. Coming in a statement announcing his up at 3 30pm at this afternoon, we will answer your questions on what withdrawal he gave his backing your rights are if events and travel to former Vice President joe biden, plans are cancelled. You can get in saying ive had the chance to work withjoe on those issues over the years, touch with us using the hashtag or and joe has fought for working people his whole life. Today i am glad to endorse him and i will work to make him the next e mail questions to us. You can find president of the United States. Out more about the symptoms of coronavirus and how to protect yourself against it on the bbc news lets go to washington now and speak to our app and our website. Getting a look state department correspondent, Barbara Plett usher. Not a surprise because he did pretty poorly on super tuesday. Super at the latest forecast, im joined by chris. Tuesday was going to be a test to see how he would manage in the campaign and it became clear he had we will look at tornadoes in the no chance at all, he won barely any United States first, and people are been picking up the pieces after of those at all. It was a very quick quite an outbreak. 11 tornadoes were assessment for him. This is the reported across three states, morning after. Quite clear as well. Kentucky, missouri and also he tweeted. Tennessee. Tennessee got the hardest hit anyway, because it hit the principal town, nashville. You can see the destruction has been widespread, in some cases, trailers he said. I have those been a data have been tossed on top of buildings and completely annihilated. They driven guy, so im pulling out and think the power of the storms im going to backjoe biden. He said reached ef three. Its a five point in the past he would make his massive organisational field scale, and if you look at the damage structure at the disposal of any candidate who would be taking on those tornadoes have brought, you donald trump in the end so cant actually measure the winds in presumably he would be doing that a tornado, you look at the damage forjoe biden, as well. It would caused by the tornado to estimate have been a fascinating race, bloomberg against tron, a how strong those winds were. We can ta ke how strong those winds were. We can take a look at the storms as they billionaire against a billionaire, a question of who had spent the most move through. During the early hours money. Bloomberg against trump. Of tuesday, we had a cold front here, and the storm started spinning ahead of the front, thats normal, it would have been fascinating in the sense that they are both from new york. They are both very wealthy thats you get the biggest tornadoes, and that is what passed men. Wall street would probably have through it nashville. There have been reports of 25 fatalities, so backed bloomberg over trump, certainly more so than bernie this was a serious outbreak. A sanders over trump but a large part problem with these storms is of defeating donald trump is how you meteorologists track the individual debate against him. Although mr storms but can only do that a hour or so before the storms arrive, and bloomberg was tweeting against him these are right in the middle of the in vitriolic terms, he had a very night. So, 25 fatalities, that toll poor performance on the debating could rise, there are a number of stage and was eviscerated by Elizabeth Warren and that would have people feared missing. You have a been a crucial moment. I dont think chance whats the situation closer to home, where we are . Nothing quite he recovered from that. Elizabeth warren is talking to her team to so fierce, a big mixture of weather assess the path forward. Could that around today. The northern half of be another drop out of the race . The uk having the brightest and keep assess the path forward. Could that with on show for northern england, be another drop out of the race7m could be. We dont know yet. She scotla nd with on show for northern england, scotland and Northern Ireland. Would have to speak to them about further south, this area of rain what to do next. She didnt have working on at the moment across very good performance on super wales, the midlands and southern counties of england. The rain band tuesday. She won over some delegates but did not even one over her own is weakening, so bringing us some state of massachusetts. She said damp weather, no huge amounts of that she was planning to stay in the rain as it reaches east anglia and race and keep on, because even if southeast england. For the north, she didnt win that many supporters, she didnt win that many supporters, she could at least use them in the some sunshine, but showers working on across western scotland. The rain final end, if there was a contest, if there was no majority winner she eases overnight but could working in could use them to influence the southern coastal counties with outcome. Now, since there has been strengthening winds. Cloudy skies across england and wales giving frost away. Wears further north, such a convincing two man race coming out of super tuesday, whether under a clear skies, caught with widespread and sharp frost. Tonight, she would decide to pull out and throw her weight behind one of the in the south of england, heavy rain candidates. We will see, thank you across the Channel Islands and for that update. Mike bloomberg out flirting with the south coast of of the race to be the next president england, where it will be windy and of the race to be the next president of the race to be the next president the winds dealing colder than today. This is bbc news. Our latest headlines the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the ukjumps to 85, as a Public Health Campaign Urges people to wash their hands regularly. Former new york mayor Michael Bloomberg stands down from the Us Democratic leadership race and says he will now endorse former Vice President joe biden. Sport now on afternoon live. Lets talk more about the impact of coronavirus on sports, and still questions wont go away about the olympics in tokyo . Ever since the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in japan, there first case of coronavirus was confirmed injapan, there have been question marks about the olympic and Paralympic Games with sporting events in asia being counselled as well, there have been more question marks. Today, there was a test event for the rugby sevens postponed as well as wheelchair rugby and climbing a fence postponed. Organisers have come out again today and said what they always say, business as usual, but they are monitoring the situation and listening to advice. Earlier today, it was said the torch relay would be reduced in size, fewer mass gatherings, they have been monitoring the health of the runners along the route and they would said there would be specific measures depending on account of the rn at the time and how coronavirus is affecting each country. The Olympic Committee are due to speak to the media in around 22 minutes. They will update their stance on the matter but the newer incidences, these concerns about the Paralympic Games and Olympic Games are likely to continue until the spread of the viruses contains. Away from coronavirus, the question of equality of prize money in sport . This summer, the england and Wales Cricket boards are launching a new competition called the hundred. Mens and womens competition running alongside each other. Today it has been confirmed that the prize money will be split equally amongst the two, so good news on the face of it, but still not really telling the whole story, not a totally level playing field. The top men in the competition will earn around £125,000, the top women just 15,000. So while england captain Heather Knight called todays announcement billing news, she is aware of the fight for equality is not fixed. Billing news, she is aware of the fight for equality is not fixedlj think the disparity in salaries, we are aware of that, the average female player is going to earn around 12 of the average male salary, so there is a lot of work to do. I think prize money and salaries are slightly different issues, prize money is very symbolic, a gesture of value, whereas the salaries, we had to be realistic about where the womens game is at the moment. Mako vunipola will miss englands six nations match with wales on saturday not because of coronavirus fears but because hes not able to be within the training camp. He recently returned from tonga via hong kong and after it was initially reported he was self isolating, it turns out medical staff advised him to return to his club side as a precaution. His team mate for club and country maro itoje called the situation a little bit weird. England winger chris ashton hasjoined harlequins, two days after being released by sale following a difference of opinion with their coach. Hes 32 now and says hes still got lots of offer. His main target is becoming the premierships all time leading scorer. Hes six short of that and 111 short of 100 in the league. He says hes confident quins can help him achieve that goal. British number one Johanna Konta said she felt truly privileged to face Kim Clijsters in the opening round of the wta event in monterrey but had little room for sentiment as she won in straight sets. Clijsters four times a grand slam champion was only playing her second match after a seven year break from tennis. Konta won 6 3, 7 5 for her first win of the year, saying she was honoured to share the court with such a champion. British heavyweight Dillian Whyte says hes hungry for another world title shot as it looks increasingly likely hell have to wait until at least the end of the year for his next. Hes the mandatory challenger to fight tyson fury next, but with his rematch against Deyontay Wilder expected to take place in the summer and anthonyjoshua tied up too, whyte has been left a little annoyed. Been a very frustrating because ive done everything asked of me. Beat earn more top ten fighters then wilder and fury have beaten. It has been very frustrating, but they kept sonny liston away from the title for a long time. Its messed up, it is what it is, you just get on with it. I want to be champion of the world, thats my thing. Illjust keep working, keep growing and keep having fun friendly fights, because i could disappear to america and fights nobody and make good money doing that, but i choose not to. I choose to stay home and have good fights. Thats all the sport for now. Ill have more for you in the next hour. Now on afternoon live, its time to get some of your consumer and travel questions answered about coronavirus. Joining me today is adam french, the Consumer Rights editor at which and simon calder, travel editor at the independent. Good afternoon, both, thank you for joining us. Simon, to you, this comes from sue from the United States, our family is five people, just like the adults a 12 year old is an 216 year olds who planned a vacation to london from the states, should we cancel . Of course not. Forcible, your travel company would almost certainly set your going to lose some or all of your money if you cancel with effectively a weeks notice. And secondly, i do believe you were talking recently to a woman that said bo you were talking recently to a woman that said b0 was cancelling all its flights, no, it has cancelled some of them, the vast majority are still running. We have seen a surge in the number of coronavirus cases, but that still represents merely one person in a million in the uk. The chances of you encountering anybody a very, very low. When you say of course not to that question from sue, do you think some people overreacting this crisis . sue, do you think some people overreacting this crisis . I would say there is an over abundance of caution when our people are actually worried about this and i can com pletely worried about this and i can completely understand their concerns and anxiety, particularly people who are thinking about the risk categories of older people, people do not want to take the virus back to theirfamilies. Do not want to take the virus back to their families. Thats understandable. However, the vast majority of her bodys travels are going to go without any problem and travel is one of those things which i think is pretty good for the body and soul, and if you stop, that is entirely your choice, but it would be to your detriment and you will have not helped the worlds economy. Writer, airlines and Hotel Companies are having a tough time. Adam, joey wa nts to are having a tough time. Adam, joey wants to know what are the chances ofa wants to know what are the chances of a big event like glastonbury being cancelled but you might im sure a lot of people have similar questions about Summer Events ahead . First and foremost, i echo the comments of dont panic. It is impossible to know what will happen going forward, what it is a fence will go forward or not. The government has said they have measures they may take, they could cancel some events, and we have already seen in italy and paris, deliveroo is already shot, but i wouldnt worry, if you bought your ticket through a legitimate seller, you will be entitled to a refund should the event not go ahead, so you will get money if it is cancelled. If you bought from a secondary marketplace, you should still get your money back, but it may be trickier. There are processes in place, you could go to your bank to try and get your money back should the event to be cancelled. But in the meantime, keep your eye on all media channels. , ifi may, as people who were booked for the tokyo marathon this weekend, if you are going to a event which is cancelled and have a non refundable plane ticket and hotel, you have the choice of going to somewhere where the point of your trip is no longer releva nt or the point of your trip is no longer relevant or losing that money, its a tough one. Tsar on email, a detailed question, i booked to my family in iran in april, a bit with a third party travel agents, we do not have travel insurance and the agent are saying even if the airline cancelled flights, they wouldnt give us a refund, is not allowed . Cani give us a refund, is not allowed . Can i book insurance to get me a refu nd can i book insurance to get me a refund if flights are cancelled starting on insurance, so many people have been in touch saying im not insurance, ive committed hundreds or thousands of pounds to a forthcoming trip, connecticut insurance now against the consequences of coronavirus . No, you cant afraid, it is a known risk so you will not be covered. If she does find the flights are cancelled, while some Online Travel agents in particular will come up with this nonsense that you lose all your money, it is worth persevering, because clearly they will get their money back from the airline, and it might be worth even mentioning the words unjust enrichment to them, which means that theyre keeping the money which rightly should be returned to her. But of course, iran very much on the no go list at the moment, so i have to say, even if you had had travel insurance in place, if you dont go, it would be invalidated for any claims you might make while there for medical treatment, for example. Web a chance adam, a sort of similar question, many of the uk cases have returned from a toy, but where in italy . Is the whole of italy a hot either in a travel restrictions . The restriction to logic in the north of italy, lombardy and van, they are in lockdown and people advise against travel veneto. If you go to sicily, you should be fine. If that situation does change at all, the fco are updating their website around 2pm everyday. You should get the cost of your flights italians themselves, those holding an italian passport, are now being excluded from places like turkey, from oman, from places like turkey, from oman, from jordan, and anyone who has been to italy in the past two weeks is going to be unwelcome in an increasing number of countries. That then raises the question, if you have an eq passport, it may not be stance, so how would they know . But need to be aware of those bands coming into effect. Im 69, booked a flight coming into effect. Im 69, booked a flight to paris for the 28th of march, my partners 65, should we go ahead and travel . A couple in their 605 . If i ahead and travel . A couple in their 60s . If i can ahead and travel . A couple in their 60s . Ifi can reinterpret that, is it safe to go to paris, of course not, theres all kinds of risks. You can occur to is safe, you can say is a tolerably low risk, and i would say for even people in the older age bands, it is tolerably safe to go the risks are tolerably low. You can decide not to go to this party if you want to, but frankly, im not sure you would be travelling from, but will be risks abounding wherever youre so just dont panic, everybody, just be careful at airports, for example, those of the places where everybody brings their own personal germs into a great big biohazard festival, so keep washing your hands there, avoid standing in too many cues with people you dont know if you can, and the same applies to international rail, things like eurostar, just be very circumspect when youre in the transport terminals. We have spoken to insurers who say that you may be able to rearrange your travel plans of your particular vulnerable, so if you do have a good level of insurance, speak to your insurer, there may be steps you can take. The last one, my husband and i are 70, where a to fly home to the uk from australia next week, flying with Cathay Pacific from melbourne to hong kong, two she wait in hong kong, my husband has some health issues, we are concerned, she will be aware of any directors . As a ministersaid, be be aware of any directors . As a minister said, be careful in airports, make sure you are following hygiene advice and as i said, do have a chat with your insurer if you are particularly vulnerable to the effects of this virus. Largely, the trip should go ahead as planned, relatively risk free brick ahead as planned, relatively riskfree brick and generally, the message is dont panic . Good to talk to you,. Thank you, simon calder and adam french forjoining me today on your questions answered. The duke and duchess of cambridge are on the second day of their visit to ireland. Theyre in dublin where theyve been visiting a centre that provides Mental Health support for young people. Our royal correspondent jonny dymond was there. The duke and duchess have come to the centre of dublin, to the temple bar district, to an organisation that embraces two of their key interest youth and Mental Health. This is the shift from day one, which is the ceremonial, the big meetings, the memorials, and finished with a pint of the black stuff at the guinness brewry in dublin, to day two, smaller organisations that are aligned with their personal interests. Personal interests. So here, it is Mental Health and youth, then its off to a socialjustice charity, then theyll talk about Sustainable Agriculture at a technology institute. So they go from group to group, sprinkling a bit of goodwill, a little bit of stardust, and building friendships and relations between britain and ireland. Heres your business headlines on afternoon live. There are fresh doubts for the future of flybe. It had been counting on a £100 million loan from the government to ensure its survival but that is now in doubt. The Financial Times reports that insiders believe the Regional Airline has enough money to keep flying under the end of the month. Virgin atlantic is freezing recruitment and asking ground staff to take unpaid leave to help it cope with the downturn in passengers wanting to fly during the coronavirus outbreak. Its chief executive is also taking a 20 paycut and its suspended the launch of a new route to sao paulo. There are renewed concerns for the future of intu, the Company Behind many of the uks biggest shopping centres. Its abandoned a plan to raise £1. 5 billion from its shareholders, citing extreme market conditions. The owner of manchesters Trafford Centre has been struggling with debt and a growing number of its retailer tenants going out of business. A lot of people because of the coronavirus outbreak worried about sick pay, they self isolate if they get ill, what is the latest guidance . A lot has changed today. This morning, the trade Union Congress put out a call to government to offer more support to workers who are concerned about the need to self isolate if they cant count on getting paid to. Within few hours, the Prime Minister announced in the commons are changed to the law seeing sick pay will be payable from day one of your absence from work, as opposed to the Current System where you only officially payable from day four. Echoing the words of the tuc, nobody should be out of pocket for doing the right thing. But also concern for people who are not entitled to sick pay at all, such as people who are under zero hours contracts. We are joined by the tucs head of employment rights. First of all, not a lot has changed in the last few hours, but what the Prime Minister announced this afternoon is not what you may have asked for but most welcome to some degree . It is a step forward that people get sick pay from day one and we await the details of how that will work, but theres other problems we highlighted. First, many people, we estimate around 2 million, do not earn enough to qualify for sick pay. As you say, thatis qualify for sick pay. As you say, that is more likely if you are in a zero hours contracts, if you are women, if you are younger or older, nearly 2 Million People who do not earn enough to get sick pay at all and we think that cant right. And that also take send people on it zero hours contracts who work on a freelance or ad hoc basis. Its difficult to account for how you actually help people like that who is working patterns are erratic. You have any suggestions . We just think there should not be an earning threshold for sick pay at all. It is normally right you could be earning too latif to qualify for sick pay, the Current System so she had to earn £118 a week before you qualify for the benefits, and that is why people on zero hours contracts are missing out. What advice you have your members who are undecided as to what they should do . They think they may have to self isolate but cant afford it . Pressure should not be on our members, should be on the government. The government has got to step in and make sure they can do that. A quick look at the markets. Is not looking too bad . Doing pretty well, not to say there are not concerned over the coronavirus, they had one of the worst falls since the financial crisis last week, they are getting today because of growing expectations that governments around the world are likely to step in and stimulate spend to stimulate the economy to counteract the impact of the coronavirus. In the us they are also excited by joe the coronavirus. In the us they are also excited byjoe bidens performance on super tuesday in the democratic primary is, lowering the chance of a Bernie Sanders presidency, someone who is not seen as necessary a friend or business. A look at these two big gains here, Morrisons Supermarkets gaining as people perhaps a panic buy due to coronavirus, and a manufacturer of hand sanitiser and other cleaning products. Thank you. Thats all the business news. Now its time for a look at the weather. Quite a mixture check it out and about this afternoon. Also coming up total dot coming up total dot a coming up total dot a comeback for the rock band genesis, they have announced their first tour in 111 years. Hello, this is afternoon live im ben brown. The uk has seen its biggest daily rise in the number of coronavirus cases to date 85 people in the uk are now confirmed to have coronavirus, up from 53. The Prime Minister announced today that those eligible for statutory sick pay would be paid from the first day of their illness rather than their fourth, if they had to self isolate because of the virus. The Health Secretary will lead a meeting of the Emergency Cobra Committee at five oclock. Sophie hutchinson reports. This image shows how the new coronavirus can affect the lungs. The red and yellow areas point to a severe respiratory infection. The virus has spread to a further 311 people in the uk, taking the total up people in the uk, taking the total up to 85. The vast majority of new cases are people who have been abroad according to the department of health, those they have been in contact with, but there are three cases where there is no known connection to an infected area or person. It is early yet to realise the full impact of these figures but it is certainly worrying and it is certainly to be expected that we will see more of that over the coming days. Hospital trusts and other Health Services are into preparation mode now for this. They have their own Emergency Preparedness and resilience response plans, Business Continuity in place and they will be preparing for any likelihood of a substantial number of infected people coming through their doors. With officials working ona their doors. With officials working on a worst Case Scenario which could see one in five workers off sick. The Prime Minister said action was being taken to ensure they wouldnt be left out of pocket. The Health Secretary will bring forward, as part of our emergency we are going live to the International Olympic committee where the president is talking about how the coronavirus is hitting plans for the olympics. The report on 2020, tokyo, the next edition of the games, the organising Committee Gave a very impressive report about the progress being made. Of course, there was also a very comprehensive presentation on how the organising committee is addressing the challenge of the coronavirus. As a conclusion we can say that the organising committee is in line with the ioc executive board, as expressed in the statement of the executive board yesterday, and also the organising committee has today renewed and reinforced its full commitment to a successful Olympic Games in tokyo 2020. There, the stage is set. All competition venues are complete. 11. 5 million olympic tickets have been sold domestically injapan. To give you an indication of the enthusiasm of the japanese people around these Olympic Games, one figure that is maybe interesting for this 11. 5 million tickets, there we re over for this 11. 5 million tickets, there were over 88 million requests since the start of the sale in tickets in japan. We will have an important milestone on the way to this Olympic Games tokyo 2020 when, next week, in ancient olympia, we will light the olympic flame, with a traditional ceremony at the birthplace of the Olympic Games, more than 3000 years ago. We also heard reports from la and matewan, which may be of most interest for you, that at least and from milano cortina, and maybe, because of the challenges with the coronavirus in china. Despite these challenges, the organising committee could present a report which shows, with impressive numbers, how successful they are in the engagement programme. So, they are well on target to make 300 million Chinese People familiar with winter sports. They have already nowjust a couple of months after the start of the programme, already now 670,000 applications forjust the programme, already now 670,000 applications for just 39,000 volunteer positions, and the application phase is still going on until next year, so, we can expect some more record numbers and also the Marketing Programme is extremely well under way. There are already ten marketing departments. They had to cancel in china the fis world cup but on the other hand we were informed about successful Chinese National winter games, which were held at the new olympic venues. We also heard a report from dakar, 2022, where the organising committee has formally been established, just a couple of days ago. There is a close cooperation with the ioc, and there is a very strong engagement of there is a very strong engagement of the international community, to make this first ever olympic sports event on the african continent a great success. We also heard a report for the first time from the chair of the future Host Commission for the games of the olympiad, and there, she could tell us that there is already now a very healthy interest, as she put it, in the organisation of the olympic summer games, and that means, from 2032, 12 years away, from these games, already a very healthy interest and the same is true for the youth Olympic Games. Then, with regard to social responsibility, as i mentioned, the ioc took some milestone decisions today. The first one, with regard to sustainability and in particular with regard to climate change. The Olympic Games will be climate positive, from 2030, and therefore, in line with the timeline of the. Climate positive means that the Carbon Savings the games create will exceed the potential negative impact of their operations. This, of course, will not come by itself. But, the road to 2030 is already built. Tokyo, beijing, paris, and milano cortina have committed to be carbon neutral. There, with these games, it will be about reducing the carbon emissions, and in this way, needing less confrontation to make the game carbon neutral. There are also to give you the flavour of this commitment, the paris has the first host of Olympic Games which fully benefits from the reforms of the olympic agenda 2020. That is the International Olympic committee president. No indications at all that he is considering postponing the olympics in tokyo this summer. There has been quite a lot of speculation that with the coronavirus outbreak around the world, the olympics might have to be delayed, but as he said yesterday to the athletes preparing for those olympics, it is full steam ahead, and he has not changed his tune today. Earlier i spoke to the deputy chief executive of nhs providers, which is a group that represents nhs trusts. She said that plans are in place to cope with an increase in affections from coronavirus. Hospital trusts are in preparation mode for this, they have their own Emergency Preparedness and resilience response plans, Business Continuity in place and they will be really preparing for any likelihood ofa really preparing for any likelihood of a substantial number of infected people coming through their doors. So, its safe to say that plans are in place, but we have to remember that there are pressures on the workforce already so we need to make sure that we can get sufficient workforce in when they may themselves be infected by the virus is absolutely critical, and making sure that we have got the physical space to do what we need to do, particularly setting up isolation wards for example, so theres a host of things that need to be done, but we are in containment phase, still. Its important that we still focus on preventing the spread of this, and identifying those vulnerable groups who need specific protection, as well as making the larger scale preparations that are needed to treat people, should they become infected. You have talked about those preparations. The government we re those preparations. The government were indicating yesterday that could include cancelling or postponing routine surgery and operations, replacements, that kind of thing. And we have seen that in other circumstances, where we have seen demand go up substantially. So it is very to have enough intensive care or high dependency unit beds available, in order to treat emergency demand that comes through the door, as well as those undergoing what we call elective, but day to day operations that hospitals will carry out. It is worth remembering there are pressures a cross worth remembering there are pressures across other bits of the nhs, also. Mental health trusts will be working out how to manage any infections in their inpatient units, and what they do about community consultations. We know that Ambulance Services are under significant strain. They run 111, so theyve had three times as many calls as they would normally expect. And when they convey someone to hospital who may be infected with the virus, they then have to undergo a deep clean of that vehicle. So they are also experiencing substantial challenges out there. It is not just limited to substantial challenges out there. It is notjust limited to hospital trusts. We have been talking about the Economic Impact of the coronavirus outbreak and the imf has said that the coronavirus does pose a serious threat to the world economy. It spoke about a 12 billion fund to help low Income Countries through the crisis. Our economics editor has been telling me why that would be significant. The big concern is if coronavirus, when coronavirus hits those nations that have a Health System that is less able to cope, that has less of the machinery, less of the facilities, to be able to stop the spread, and so the imf and the World Bank Working together, to try and help the funding of those less developed countries, to be able to deal with that, that threat, theyve had a meeting over the telephone, because these meetings are happening, indeed these face to face meetings next month have been cancelled or replaced with virtual meetings, but they had a meeting talking amongst finance ministers about what to do there. There was another meeting yesterday, a teleconference, of the g7 finance ministers. They came up with other weapons against the economic fear caused by the coronavirus impact. And they didnt agree to a common view on cutting Interest Rates. The Us Federal Reserve cut rates by the biggest amount since the financial crisis, and an emergency setting the biggest weve seen since the financial crisis but the markets didnt like that, and fell. There is a debate about what is the right economic tonic for a potential pandemic. Rate cuts . Maybe, or is it more specific policy measures which are targeted specifically at sectors that are suffering . So today in the uk we have seen this change to statutory sick pay. That will be funded by businesses, small and large, having to pay for the first three days of anybodys sickness during this period of coronavirus. So that is one of the measures that are taking. Other budget measures are planned and targeted here in the uk, rather than the broader measures that we have seen elsewhere. Our economics editor faisal islam, there. Lets take you through some of the other developments. Italy is considering closing schools and universities for two weeks, to contain the spread of the virus. It is also setting up a new quarantine red zone outside the Northern City of bergamo after several deaths there in 211 are as. And there have been 50 new deaths in iran, bringing their total, up to 92. Youre watching afternoon live, these are the latest headlines. The number of confirmed cases of the virus in the uk hasjumped, up to 85, as a Public Health Campaign Urges people to wash their hands regularly. New government measures to help deal with the outbreak people who self isolate will get statutory sick pay from their first day off work. Former new york mayor Michael Bloomberg stands down from the Us Democratic leadership race and says he will now endorsejoe biden. Preparations continue as planned for the Tokyo Olympics amid fears over the Tokyo Olympics amid fears over the coronavirus. I johanna the Tokyo Olympics amid fears over the coronavirus. IJohanna Konta managed to secure her first win of the year in the monterey open this year against Kim Clijsters. More on those stories just after half past. The billionaire Michael Bloomberg has dropped out of the race to become the democrat candidate for the us presidency. The former mayor of new york spent half 1 billion and failed to make a serious impact on super tuesday. He only managed to win in american samoa. He said he would now support the former us president joe biden. Our washington correspondent Barbara Plett usha has the latest. Super tuesday was going to bea the latest. Super tuesday was going to be a test of how he would manage in the campaign. It became clear he had no chance. He won barely any votes at all. It was a very quick assessment for him, the morning after, and quite clear, as well. I will read you the first part. He said, i have always been a data driven guy, i have looked at the mass, i had no chance for the nomination so i am pulling out and im going to backjoe biden. He said he would make its massive organisational field structure available, put it at the disposal of any candidate who would be taking on donald trump, so presumably he will be doing that forjoe biden as well. It would have been a fascinating race, bloomberg against donald trump, a billionaire against a billionaire, a question of who spent the most money in some ways. Yes, thats fascinating, but having said that, it would have been fascinating in the sense that they are both from new york, they have that background, they are both very wealthy men, wall street would probably have backed bloomberg over donald trump, certainly more so than Bernie Sanders over donald trump, but a large part of defeating donald trump would be how you debate against him. Although bloomberg was tweeting against him in vitriolic terms, he had a very poor performance on the debate stage and was basically eviscerated by Elizabeth Warren and that was a crucial moment he didnt recover from. We gather that Elizabeth Warren is talking to her tea m Elizabeth Warren is talking to her team to assess the path forward. Could that be another drop out of the race . We dont know yet. Shed have to speak to them about what to do next because she didnt have a good performance on super tuesday. She won a number of delegates, but didnt win any states including her own, of massachusetts. She said before super tuesday that she was planning to stay in the race and keep on funding, because even if she did not win that many supporters, she could use them in the final end if there was a no majority winner, she could use them to influence the outcome. Now we will have to see, since there has been such a convincing two man race coming out of this super tuesday vote, whether she will decide to pull out and threw her weight behind one of the candidates. That is Barbara Plett usher with the latest from washington. We have had a tweet from joe biden. Sow, Mike Bloomberg is throwing his weight behind joe biden. He had a pretty good super tuesday, and he must be hoping now that he can get the democratic nomination to take on donald trump. But it is far from certain, but he is looking in a better place, joe biden, than he was a few days ago. Borisjohnson has told mps he is sticking by the home secretary, following further allegations of bullying against her, which she denies. Priti patel, who sat next to mrjohnson at Prime Ministers questions, has not publicly commented on the allegations. The pm said claims she mistreated staff would of course be investigated, and said priti patel is an outstanding home secretary who was delivering change. Our chief Political Correspondent vicki young is at westminster. Outwardly the Prime Minister showing huge loyalty to his secretary and saying that he stands by her, but behind the scenes are there some worries in government circles about how this all might play out in the coming weeks . That is because it has been going on for several days now. Weve had the case at the home office of allegations from the most senior Civil Servant there, as he resigned, and said he would take the government to court over this, then further allegations coming to light about priti patels time in other departments, so the dwp, and when she was International Development secretary. She has denied all of these. Yesterday she did put out a joint e mail to staff at the home office where she was clearly trying to draw a line under all of this, saying she regretted the resignation of sir philip rutnam, the permanent secretary in her department, and said it was now time for the home office to come together as one team, which seems a little bit hopeful at this point. All eyes today were on borisjohnson to see whether he would repeat again his support for the home secretary. The home secretary is doing an outstanding job, delivering change, putting police out on the street, cutting crime and delivering a new immigration system, and im sticking by her. The problem is that hanging over her is the Cabinet Office investigation into whether she broke the ministerial code of conduct which lays out clearly that there should be no bullying, that you have to treat staff with respect, and potentially further down the line is this industrial tribunal. If former or even current Civil Servants decide to give evidence, it seems at the moment that they will do, then that could be extremely difficult for priti patel. She has the support of the Prime Minister at the moment, but you have to wonder, with the work that the home office has to get done, the new immigration system for example, extra policing, all of those things she has to deal with, this is an incredibly difficult time for her, even though she does have the support of the Prime Minister. Thank you, vicki young, our chief Political Correspondent. There have been more clashes, as thousands of migrants try to force their way into greece from turkey. Many of them are heading for the island of lesbos, as one of the nearest points of entry to the eu. Gabriel gatehouse reports. Chanting theyve gained a toehold in europe but now, thousands of people have found themselves in effect prisoners on a small island. And down at the port today, many were trying to leave. We want to get out of this hell. Everyone wants this. So, all of these people are basically waiting for a ferry to athens, to get off the island, and there seems to have been some idea amongst them that that was going to happen today. So many have risked their lives to come here and now, more are arriving and tempers are frayed. These are scenes calculated to put pressure on politicians across europe. Bogged down in syria, turkeys president is sending a clear message. Remember the migrant crisis . It can happen again. In the short stretch of water between lesbos and turkey, the greek coastguard has stepped up aggressive patrols. Yesterday a young syrian boy drowned in this channel, when one dinghy capsized. These people crossed two days ago. They paid 500 each for their place on board a dinghy, prompted by turkeys decision to allow migrants to leave. Why now . Why did you decide to come now . Now they are stuck here, a few hundred metres from where they landed. Theyre from afghanistan and their journey took them through iran. On top of everything else, there is fear and caution over the coronavirus. But there is a more immediate concern. In recent weeks there have been reports of masked men, angry locals roaming the streets at night, setting up roadblocks and threatening both the migrants. And those who work with them. This is a deliberate campaign of intimidation, one man told us. He was so worried, he didnt want to show his face on camera. The threats come from a small minority, but even the most hospitable locals admit their small island is smuggling. The eu today called greece a shield in deterring migrants. Lesbos has borne much of that burden. There are currently 22,000 refugees and migrants here. More will surely arrive in the coming days. But when the ferry left for athens this evening, it left without them. Gabriel gatehouse reporting there from lesbos. Time for a look at the weather now in the uk with chris. Weve seen quite a mixture of weather out and about. Across the north of the uk weve seen the best of the sunshine, northern england, scotland and Northern Ireland having skies like these when further south we are seeing a band of rain. That rain is quite weak, pushing into east anglia and the south east, the rain, easing later in the night and then returning towards southern coastal counties later. Away from that area of rain, looking at cold conditions overnight with clear skies over Northern Ireland, scotland and the Northern Ireland, scotland and the north of england with a sharp frost. Tomorrow, rain will be with us in the Channel Islands, heavy at times, the Channel Islands, heavy at times, the low pressure steam girl to the south of england, but the rain flirts with the south coast. There will be some strong winds making it feel a little on the cool site. Away from the cloudy, wet and windy weather in the far south, it is a day of bright skies, sunshine and the showers most frequent again across North Western areas of the uk. That is latest weather. This is bbc news. Our latest headlines the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the ukjumps to 85, as a Public Health Campaign Urges people to wash their hands regularly. New government measures to help deal with the outbreak people who self isolate will get statutory sick pay from their first day off work. Former new york mayor Michael Bloomberg stands down from the Us Democratic leadership race and says he will now supportjoe biden. Borisjohnson says the home secretary is doing an outstanding job, as the labour leader calls for an independent investigation into bullying claims against priti patel. A comeback for the rock band genesis theyve announced their first tour for 13 years. Sport now on afternoon live with ben croucher. Lets talk about the impact of coronavirus in sport, what the latest with the Tokyo Olympics . Weve been hearing from the ioc president . No news is good news, no talk of cancelling at the tokyo 2020 olympic and Paralympic Games from the ioc today. The organisers and oversee both reading off at the same hymn sheet today. Theyve given their backing to organisers to deliver a successful games, with concerns over the coronavirus a number of test events have been either postponed or scaled down. But what really has been impacted with fewer crowds in places. The torch relay has been impacted. It has been reiterated it remains business as usual with the games continuing in july. I will not find the flame of speculation by giving a date here and fuelling more speculation. Our statement from yesterday is very clear, we are fully committed and we continue to work with the task force, and the same is true for the organising committee. We have challenges now, with the qualifications, you know the many measures we have been undertaking. This is a challenging, yes, but i must also say im pretty proud of the olympic movement, of the great solidarity and flexibility everybody has shown so far to address these challenges. Cycling has also been affected by coronavirus, last week, the uau tour event was cancelled, some riders are being told they face further quarantine. The impact of coronavirus on sport showing no signs of slowing down. But tokyo 2020 at the minute is going ahead as normal. Well talk about boxing, everybody talking about the possibility of a tyson fury Anthony Joshua about, any more news on that . Sort of yes, sort of know. The one thing we know is that fury josh is not going to happen in the summer, tyson fury is probably going to have another rematch against Deontay Wilder over in america. But providing fury and joshua both win those fights, we could see a big british heavyweight unification fight in december. That is according to joshuas fight in december. That is according tojoshuas promoter who said negotiations are in progress with fu rys negotiations are in progress with furys team. Negotiations are in progress with furys team. There are negotiations in place right now to start these rematches. There is no reason we can ican rematches. There is no reason we can i can have a deal in a place for the winner of these two fights to fight in september. That is what we must give the fans. I think the timing is perfect for those summer fights into december. Angus cross, we saw with Joshua Louise at Madison Square garden, he has to remain focused. The new cricket competition, the hundred, will have equal prize money split between the mens and womens competitions. There is still a big discrepancy in pay, the top men will around £125,000, the top women just 15,000. So while england captain Heather Knight called today dabizas pronouncement blind news, the head of the womens the hundred is aware the fight for equality is not over. We are aware of the disparities in salaries, the average female player will around 12 of the male salary. There is work to do. But prize money of salary are different issues, prize money is symbolic, a gesture of value, whereas with salaries, we had to be realistic about where the womens game is at the moment. Chris ashton hasjoined harlequins after being released by sale. He started to but says it is a lot to offer, his main target is becoming the premierships all time leading scorer. He a lot to offer, his main target is becoming the premierships all time leading scorer. Here six short of that mark. He says he is confident quins can help them achieve that goal. Johanna konta says it was an honour to share the court with came cloisters in the first round of the monterey open but still managed to secure her first win of the year. Konta said it was a privilege to play the four time grand slam champion. That is all the sport for now. Lets continue our coverage of the spread of coronavirus now, and the risk of it becoming a much larger outbreak than the uk is currently experiencing. So whats the best way to protect yourself from coronavirus . Public Health England says people should be washing their hands for 20 seconds to guard against the virus. Our Online Health editor Michelle Roberts and bbc Digital Health reporter laura foster examine the advice the nhs is giving. A lot of people are worrying about coronavirus. You a lot of people are worrying about coronavirus. You see a a lot of people are worrying about coronavirus. You see a lot of people masks and you dont want to get sick. Most people, if you catch coronavirus, it will be mild. But for some, coronavirus could be serious. These are mostly older people and people dont untying health conditions. Things like asthma, diabetes and heart disease. Your venture good news is, you can protect yourself, the nhs says you should do these things. Even if youre not likely to be seriously affected by coronavirus, you may pass it on to someone who could be. Number one, wash your hands more. Than what you wash your hands, the less likely you are to spread the virus to other people. So if youve been out in a public place or a bus ortrain, been out in a public place or a bus or train, wash your hands as you can afterwards. And probably wash your hands, that takes about 20 seconds to get them really clean, focusing on all parts of your hands, notjust your palm, backs of hands, round the nails, in between the fingers. Wrist and yourthumb, and nails, in between the fingers. Wrist and your thumb, and your soap and water. And when youre done, turn the tap off using a tissue and know that in the bin. Antibacterial gels do work, but soap and water is best. Number two, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth go because that is the way the virus can get into your body own. You can touch your face, but only if you wash your hands before. Number three, face, but only if you wash your hands before. Numberthree, catching coughs and sneezes. Expressing coronavirus is spread by droplets that come out of your nose and mouth, so when you sneeze or cough, catch them with disposable tissues then bin it and wash your hands. Disposable tissues are better than handkerchiefs that you carry around with you all the time. If you do not have a tissue, sneeze or cough into the crook of your elbow. That way, the crook of your elbow. That way, the germs are away from your hands and youre less likely to pass them on, unless you greet people using your elbow. Dont touch things with your elbow. Dont touch things with your hands if you dont have to. The less you touch things like surfaces, handrails, lift buttons, the less likely you are to catch the virus or indeed spread it on. Numberfour, stay away from people who are ill. If you are unwell, it could get too close to. The closer you get, the more likely you are to catch something. Apart from that, should go about your life as normal. That means you should go to work, go to school and see your friends. And i shouldve been told not to buy your doctors or the nhs111 coronavirus service. When it comes to travelling, check with the Foreign Office before you plan to go. Its important to say there is no evidence you can catch coronavirus from letters, parcels or food. Evidence you can catch coronavirus from letters, parcels orfood. These things wont work when it comes to treating coronavirus. Uv lights, antibiotics, garlic and saline solution. As for masks, they are important when very close contact with patients, but there is little evidence must help in everyday life. If you are coughing i have a High Temperature have short breaths, you may have the symptoms of coronavirus but do not necessarily have coronavirus. But if you think you may do, dont go anywhere, especially not the hospital, pharmacy or doctors. Instead, phone your doctor. Or use the online nhs 111 coronavirus service. Theyll be the ones that will tell you what to do next. Interesting lines coming from a government adviser who is basically saying that the british people are not anxious enough about the coronavirus outbreak. This is professor sir simon wesley who shares the Emergency Response committee of the National Institute of health research, saying its important that people are made to feel harrowing about self isolating. Ido feel harrowing about self isolating. I do think we should make people feel more heroic, they are the front line responders in the battle against this virus. I think, at the moment, he says, people are not anxious enough. Certainly in terms of doing a sensible, precautionary behaviour. As it gets closer and becomes more likely to involve me as an individual, we know at the uptake of preventative behaviours increase exponentially, but this has not happened yet. So that is a government adviser saying, at the moment, people are not anxious enough. Hundreds of thousands of businesses may not be able to claim on losses because of the coronavirus. The government has said it will add covid 19 to the list of notifiable diseases which, in theory, would enforce insurance claims for coronavirus. Insurers are telling their customers to check the detail of their policy to see if they are covered. Malcolm tarling is from the association of british insurers. Sounds like there is a little bit of confusion about the status of coronavirus, as far as insurance claims is concerned . Coronavirus, as far as insurance claims is concerned . There is not any confusion, because if you are one of those businesses who are taking out a contingent of Business Interruption insurance, you may well be covered if the virus contaminates your actual business premises, which means you encourage additional cost for trading and loss of profits. Youve got to remember, Business Insurance is a very bespoke product and there are lots of different types of cover out there, and they are all tailor made to the individual requirements of a particular business. With the variety of cover, you have a host of add ons and extensions you can take as well. The advice is to talk to your Insurance Broker is very sensible and wise at this moment in time. What we talk about notifiable disease . If you have Business Interruption insurance, the trigger for the policy operating, as far as a virus is concerned, is where its identified as a notable disease. Its a government announcement as a notifiable condition, as has happened, if you have that cover, it may well kick in. But as it word of warning, not all businesses are going to have it. We think the vast majority of businesses have probably not opted to take that cover. And in terms of businesses around the country, so many are vulnerable to this, especially if we see in the coming weeks and months more and more Economic Activity coming to a halt, events being postponed, that kind of thing . Businesses are at the front line of the virus, but its got to remember that commercial insurance provides a whole range of covers, theres an a lot of risks that your standard policy covers you for, and each day commercial insurers are paying out over £8 million in Property Damage claims alone. This is not a case of insurance looking to run away from claims, its a question of making sure, as a business, youre the cover you need, talk to your broker to make sure you have the insurance ina to make sure you have the insurance in a place that meets your needs. Could put out insurance in place now . In other words, could put out insurance in place now . In otherwords, if could put out insurance in place now . In other words, if you are a hotel or something, youre right about a huge tail off in demand in the summer, which may or may not happen, is it too late now to put that insurance in place . Revenge all commercial insurers are going to be looking closely at this situation what the likely commercial containment plans are. It might be possible to get cover now, that is an issue you need is a business to talk to your insurance adviser about. The could be some huge claims coming in the coming yearfrom airlines, concert promoters, football clu bs, airlines, concert promoters, football clubs, all sorts . We are in uncharted territory here, we have to do with the coronavirus and just like we have not had to deal with the coronavirus before, it is down to how the virus develops, even though longer period. Regardless of what happens, insurers are well capitalised to do a pandemic like this. They had to meet very strict solvency requirements, so they are ina good solvency requirements, so they are in a good place to deal with the consequences of this very serious outbreak. But there must be pretty worried about the size of some of this potential parents they may have to make . Insurance companies are a lwa ys to make . Insurance companies are always looking at claims and taking sensible precautions to make sure theyre best place to help their customers. Insurers want to help customers, the businesses they are offering cover to, to make sure they best place help notjust when they have covered but also can take the right measures to reduce the risk of what could be severe disruption. Thank you very much. In a moment, well get the latest business news. First, a look at the headlines on afternoon live the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the ukjumps to 85, as a Public Health Campaign Urges people to wash their hands regularly. New government measures to help deal with the outbreak people who self isolate will get statutory sick pay from their first day off work. Former new york mayor Michael Bloomberg stands down from the Us Democratic leadership race and says he will now supportjoe biden. Heres your business headlines on afternoon live. The government has announced changes to sick pay to help contain coronavirus but the trade union body the tuc has asked for support for workers who dont qualify, such as those on zero hours contracts. There are fresh doubts for the future of flybe. It had been counting on a £100 million loan from the government to ensure its survival, but that is now in doubt. The last time we are told, the markets were bouncing back . They were, a bit. Let see how the end of the day. It looks pretty good, but its not a solo brighter picture for the economy in general. Big gains have been amazed by the ftse and the dell firm today, traders in you are bouncing back from one of the worst weeks on record since the financial crisis. The reason investors getting excited, because i think things are getting so bad with the coronavirus, they are thinking various governments might be ready to step in to boost public spending and cou ntera ct in to boost public spending and counteract the impacts of the virus. In the us, they are also excited about the Political Developments of the vast 211 hours, the fact that the democratic moderate joe biden appears to be coming out on top so far in the race to become that pa rtys far in the race to become that partys contender for the president ial election, putting Bernie Sanders into second place, who is seen as someone who is not a friend of business. A look at the two big gainers on the ftse today. Morrison and here we have been hearing reports of panic buying, i have just seen a photograph of an empty shelf of toilet roll, and this company who make cleaning products and hand sanitiser is, giving you some context as to why those stocks are doing well. But airlines, not doing well. Fiona cincotta is a market analyst at city index. Thank you forjoining us. Give us the general market overview, investors seem to think governments are ready to unleash some spending to counteract the coronavirus, what are we talking about exactly . The other thing to keep in mind is the Federal Reserve, the us central bank, put in an emergency rate cut o. 5 off bank, put in an emergency rate cut 0. 5 off the Interest Rate. As far as businesses are concerned, this is great, reduced borrowing costs is business friendly. Investors are also looking at which central bank is going to be next. The European Central bank is meeting next week, and then the bank of england next month, so there is this hope that if the ecb and the bank of england will also be considering cutting rates to support businesses through what could be a very difficult economic time with coronavirus. And the incoming governor of the bank of england has been talking aboutjust that today, although some people reading between the lines and thinking the bank may take more of a wait and see approach on whether to cut Interest Rates. Is a part of the recent why wouldve also been seeing the value of the pound at the lower level of its recent range versus the dollar . Exactly. What this is supportive for businesses to have a lower Interest Rates, this is seen as pound negative, so that is something we can expect to weigh on the pounds going forward. At the moment, investors are gauging on this, trying to decide whether this is something that the bank of england will go ahead with, and as you say, the bank of england are saying that they just want to see what happens with the data over the coming weeks to see what happens. That is one of the reasons why weve we re that is one of the reasons why weve were the pound staying at this level. It is remarkable to see any time of crisis that the winners are out there with the losers. Airlines are doing poorly, we talk about the effo rts are doing poorly, we talk about the efforts ta ke n are doing poorly, we talk about the efforts ta ken by are doing poorly, we talk about the efforts taken by Virgin Atlantic to keep a lid on the course of this crisis for. Then you have supermarkets and the Chemicals Firm is doing pretty well. Supermarkets and the Chemicals Firm is doing pretty welllj supermarkets and the Chemicals Firm is doing pretty well. I did micah know if you have tried to go out and buy hand sanitiser it but its impossible chemicalfirm buy hand sanitiser it but its impossible Chemical Firm is buy hand sanitiser it but its impossible chemicalfirm is doing well, and was supermarkets, which seen many photos where the shells are seen many photos where the shells a re pretty seen many photos where the shells are pretty empty as people are stockpiling ahead of this crisis they see coming. That is positive again for supermarkets and airliners are again for supermarkets and airliners a re really again for supermarkets and airliners are really struggling. Flybe was in are really struggling. Flybe was in a problem area to start with and reduced bookings is going to weigh on them terribly. British airways already said this is going to affect their yearly annual passenger numbers as well. This is something thatis numbers as well. This is something that is not just numbers as well. This is something that is notjust going to be for now, were see the impact of this across the month. Thank you. Thats it from me for today. Well hear from the Health Authorities in Northern Ireland, they say two more people are just a positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total in Northern Ireland to three. One patient had travelled from italy, they had contact with another coronavirus patient elsewhere in the uk. The department of health at storm arent saying both patients are adults and are receiving appropriate care. Public Health Agency personal are working rapidly to identify contact they may have had with the aim of preventing further spreads. So thats two new cases in Northern Ireland, that would bring the uk total up further from 85 to 87. More on that as we get it. Rock band genesis are reuniting, and have announced their first tourfor 13 years. The bandmembers phil collins, Mike Rutherford and tony banks, who are all 69 will be joined by collins 18 year old son on drums. David sillito reports. She seems to have an invisible touch, yeah. Genesis, from 70s prog rock to 80s and 90s chart success. I cant dance i cant talk. Theyve been around for more than 50 years. But a reunion was, according to phil collins, highly unlikely. Ill health had stopped him from drumming. But in recent years he has returned to performing and his son nick can now fill in for him on drums. And so they arrived at radio 2 this morning to announce that theyre going back on the road. Its been a kind of conversation thats been brewing a little bit. I think when i was out on the road showing i could still do something, i think we all felt, why not . Turn it on, turn it on again. It sounds a bit of a lame reason, just to say, why not . But we, you know, kind of enjoy it. I will follow you will you follow me all the days and nights that we know will be. Its been 13 years since they last played together and their last tour was, phil collins said, a chance to say goodbye properly but the music business is full of farewells and retirements that dont last very long. Its a natural progression. Phil started, then he retired but he came back touring and his son nick was drumming. It seems to be moving towards an area where it could be possible. You know, i think five years ago, or before that, would have been a big ask but it sort of happened naturally. So, a band that began in the 60s with a very different look and sound, has found a renewed appetite to return to the road. Turn it on, turn it on again. And more than 50 years of hit records. Now its time for a look at the weather. Hello, there. Weve seen quite a mixture of weather out and about this afternoon. The northern half of the uk having the best of the weather in terms of bright skies and sunshine. So, for scotland, Northern Ireland, northern england, weve had at times skies like these. Further south, though, a few isolated showers for north west england. Weve had this more persistent area of range stretching across wales, the midlands and into southern counties of england. And underneath that band of rain, these guys have looked rather grey, for example in this weather watchers picture from the cornwall area. The rain weakens as it reaches east anglia and south east england, so they will not be any large rainfall totals, just some damp weather at times. It does stay cloudy in the south. Further north, we will have clearing skies away from the immediate western coast of scotland. Underneath those clear skies it will be a cold night with a widespread frost. The cloud further south keeping the frost at bay. Tomorrow, another area of low pressure, this one the centre of the low, well to the south of the uk. Its going to be bringing some wet weather to the Channel Islands, with rain and strong winds at times flirting with the south coast of england. It is the winds that will make it feel quite a bit cooler, here. Away from that area of wet weather, we are looking at a day of sunny spells and scattered showers. The showers most frequent across north and west scotland and Northern Ireland, as well. Friday, looking at a rather cloudy day. Again, showers featured in the forecast. They will be moving from western parts of england and wales towards Eastern England through the day. Perhaps some lengthy spells of rain for a time in western scotland. The weather brightening up through the afternoon in Northern Ireland as pressure builds here. For the weekend, weve got low pressure in charge. Thats going to be pushing a band of rain and fairly strong winds across the country. That will tend to clear followed by sunshine and showers and cooler weather on sunday. So, although it might well start off on a bright note across eastern areas, on saturday, the weather clouds over, the winds strengthen, and we will see some more wet weather arriving, particularly across western areas, with the heaviest rain getting into the Western Isles of scotland, and looking pretty wet in the afternoon in Northern Ireland as well. The rain will sweep its way across the uk overnight. Clearing by the time we get to sunday. Sunday sees cooler air from following in, bringing a mixture of sunshine and showers, the showers quite blustery.
