Does this scudder his chances of a comeback . Hello. Israeli police have found the charred body of a palestinian teenager who was kidnapped in East Jerusalem. Local people say they saw him being forced into a car shortly after the funerals of three young israelis who were kidnapped and killed in the occupied west bank. Israels Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned what he called the despicable murder of the teenager. He urged people not to take the law into their own hands. Following the discovery of the body, there has been angry scenes in East Jerusalem. Roads are closed off all around the shufat neighborhood of East Jerusalem as crowds of young palestinians have been destroying the israeli tram system. Police officers are responding with rounds of rubber bullets. We can see you have to take precautions for your own safety. Just tell us what is happening behind you. Reporter well, just in the last few minutes we heard lots of rounds of tear gas being fired, and rubber bullets by Israeli Special forces police who are just round about where the traffic lights are that you can see down the street. Thats where groups of young palestinians have been throwing stones at the police, venting their anger with this news that a palestinian teenager was found dead earlier in the day. It is suspected that he was mohammed abu khudair, apparently abducted earlier in the morning. Members of the family said they saw him getting into a car, being forced into a car, as he was getting ready for the dawn which takes place in the holy month of ramadan. He was on the streets very early in the morning before dawn. So really tense scenes here. If you look at the political side of things, there was a call that came very quickly from the palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas asking israel to condemn the killing of this young palestinian. But the statement that came from the israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was much more cautious, he said this was a despicable murder and said he would ask investigators to find out what was behind it as quickly as possible. At the moment, Israeli Police only saying theyre suspicious that this was a revenge attack for those three israeli teenagers whose bodies were found in the occupied west bank earlier in the week. What hope is there of the situation calming down rather than escalating . We can hear the noise behind you. We can see how difficult it is there. Well, this has been going on for several hours, sort of running battles going on. There is a lot of smoke now as well. Earlier the smoke was caused by the attempt really to try to burn down these tram shells you can see running along the middle of the street, israeli tram system that runs through this area of East Jerusalem. This is occupied East Jerusalem, captured by israel in the 1967 war, of course, later annex in a move that is not recognized internationally. And often tensions do run high here. This, though, is an unusual cycle of violence if this proves to be a revenge attack that has taken place. First of all, to have the killing of those three israeli teenagers kidnapped and killed, israel says, and then to have the killing of a young palestinian, this is a sectarian conflict that is ongoing. But this type of violence is a bit more unusual. Im talking to yolande. Can you tell us what weapons people have, it is alarming to talk to you even from here listening to what is going on there. Well, you can see some people are still just walking about the street going about their normal business. There are actually quite often clashes with locals and police in East Jerusalem. But this is something a bit different. People are very worried too about what might happen when the funeral for this young man takes place later in the day. Of course, this conflict has seen peaks at other times with the start of the second Palestinian Uprising or intefadeh in 2000, of course. And there are concerns that really this could be returning to a greater cycle of violence and lots of worries as well about any israeli action taken in retaliation for the deaths of those israeli teenagers, whether that could escalate things further. Yolande, many thanks indeed there, in East Jerusalem. Now, the militant group isis called on muslims throughout the world to travel to iraq and syria to help build an islamic state. Reports from the northern iraqi city of mosul say the same militants told other rebel groups to disarm and pledge allegiance to them. With me is frank gardner. What is the likelihood of groups not only in that region but in africa and other continents heeding this call or is this just part of the ongoing stream that we get . It had a mixed response. So far, nine rebel groups in syria refused to pledge allegiance. They are effectively rivals but much weaker rivals to isis. I think theyre taken aback at the militarys success at isis but able to sweep so quickly through western iraq, thanks to the sunni tribes that have been crossed with their government in baghdad. Further afield, there are messages of support from other al qaeda inspired groups around the world, in africa and in the middle east. And jihadists are very impressed by isis rapid advance and their success. They like seeing that. The idea of this counterfate that has broken the border between syria and iraq is popular and attractive to young impressionable men from towns in britain and europe who may want to go out and fight them, unaware really of the complexities of what theyre stepping into in the middle east. Many people watching events in the last couple of weeks are quite alarmed and dont know how far this is going to go. And, you know, worry about, for example, where the money is coming from, when we see that oil fields have been taken over. Who is buying the oil from these groups . Who is keeping the banks going if they have taken all this money . There must be net works around them that the west, if they want to, can intervene in. Isis, renamed itself in the last week, islamic state, just locked off the words iraq and syria, and just say were no longer islamic in iraq and syria, were the islamic state, were not short of money before they take over mosul, but theyre not short of it now. They have raided the banks there and taken about 420 million in cash. They have got a lot of heavy weaponry, a lot of which has been now cropping up in syria. It crossed over the border, gone westward and theyre using it to fight their rivals. Who is supplying the weapons . They have taken it from the iraqi army. Initially they were supplied by the americans. They have armored humvees, heavy artillery, a scud, i dont think it works. They paraded some of these in the last 48 hours in eastern syria. And you can see pictures there of them driving through. The oil . Well, the oil there are oil fields in eastern syria, in the area in isis control and there are plenty of reports that isis has been sending that oil to president assad of syria, the very government, the regime they are fighting. Assad needs the oil to keep his army going. Isis needed the money. They may not think twice about that, they got so much money. Theyre also getting money from private donations from individuals in the gulf, wealthy individuals in saudi arabia, kuwait and elsewhere, not the governments, but individuals, although iran and its ally at the Iraqi Government baghdad accused saudi arabia of funding isis. Strongly denies that. No question that there are individuals in the sunni gulf states or the sunni dominated gulf states who consider that funding isis is almost a religious duty because they are protecting sunnis from discrimination by shia in iraq. Okay. Im sorry, we have to leave it there. Well see you soon. Thanks. The former president Nicolas Sarkozy is placed under formal investigation on suspicion of corruption. He made a late night Court Appearance in paris. His supporters complain of harassment by some judges. The formal investigation is quite like it will come to trial it could take many months before that happens. The case is linked to the various investigations under way into Illegal Party funding, campaign funding. What the allegation is is that mr. Sarkozy worried about these various investigations into party funding, wanted to find out more about what was going on, and therefore had a kind of insider in the justice system, very high up in the justice system, senior judge, prosecutor in the court of appeal who it is alleged was helping him by telling him about the state of these investigations into him. This amounts, according to the judges who spoke to him yesterday, now placed him under investigation, amounts to prima facie case of influence peddling and corruption, charges which could lead eventually to a prison term even. But there is a long way before that now. They look into this further, but it is quite likely this will come to trial. That was Hugh Schoenfeld reporting. An Emergency Response to the worsening Ebola Outbreak in west africa. The World Health Organization is hosting talks with 11 of the Regions Health ministers as the worst ever outbreak of the virus is now confirmed to have killed more than 450 people. Well, the virus causes internal bleeding and organ failure. It has a 90 fatality rate. It can be spread from one person to another through direct contact and its symptoms include bleeding, diarrhea and vomiting. This growing outbreak in west africa was first confirmed in march over new begunguinea. The latest figures from the World Health Organization say the virus killed 302 people across that country. It also confirmed in liberia, where 67 people were killed. It is also spreading to sierra leone killing 99 people there. The Global Health report tells us more. The reason this is spread is mainly due to fear. It is not necessarily complacency, though governments have been accused of not doing enough. What happened when it first came to west africa, when it first left off in the south, east of guinea, is that specialists went in for the World Health Organization, they started isolating people quickly, which is how you stop it spreading. But simply that hasnt worked in the way that everyone wanted it to. Why not . Well, because the information isnt really getting through. People arent listening to it. They went out into the communities and gave people advice an how to stop the spread. To recognize the symptoms in people, if people get ill, get them to an isolation facility where they can be looked after and the death rate for ebola is high, a terrible way to die. Starts off with a fever. Ends in internal and external bleeding and organ failure. It is a frightening virus. What happened is people were very scared about it. And they didnt want to take their loved ones to hospitals because they often didnt come back out again. So what were seeing now is real fear and anxiety. When medics go into the communities now, not all of them, but some of them, theyre being attacked, a lot of hostility and medicine frontier, one of the key organizations helping with the outbreak, said some villages, especially in guinea, have become nogo areas. Well, i want to say one of the marks of progress they have been able to get the leader of this intelligence cell and hopefully will be able to get information that will help us deal with the return of the girls. How worried are you about the whole situation . And do you have any more information at all about the whereabouts of the girls or what the search operation is like for those girls . I know the president is making every effort, on every platform possible. The biggest objective he has is the safe return of these girls. And is prepared to do whatever it takes to make sure they are returned. Every means has been explored. Can you give us an idea of what is happening right now . I think, you know, when i say means, i mean not only counterinsurgen counterinsurgence, but political means, but also dialogue. To you think tdo you think t still in the country . I dont know. I cant give you exact information on that. For that, you have to talk to the security services. But we believe some of them are still in the country at least. We have seen, though, continuing attacks in that region. How difficult is it and how worried is the government about trying to secure the area . It is a very difficult situation. And that is why we also have international help. The president has asked and the uk, the u. S. , france, china and israel are helping us. As we know here in the uk, we dealt with the counterinsurgency for more than three decades. Still the uk continued to function. So we have a lot of lessons to learn about how to manage this. And were trying to do that. And we are hopeful, we are making some progress. You have seen the recent, you know, this recent response by the government. And as time goes on, i think youll see more and more of that. Also, im sure other countries have experience that the attacks sporadically may go on. Im optimistic that at the end of the day it will come to a solution to the problem, within the country. The president has been criticized for the very slow response and lack of an adequate response initially, especially when the girls were kidnapped. Do you think the city i know youre here in london, launching a plan to try to make schools safer, but that is not enough on its own, is it . I think, look, lets say there was a communications issue, that whatever was being done, well, people felt, we didnt communicate it properly and i think that was a mistake. To say that nothing was being done, that is not correct. And the country has also learned to start communicating what has been done. I think, look, the main thing were here to do, the president launched an initiative on safe schools and gordon brown is leading the International Former british Prime Minister. Former british Prime Minister and addressing the i will be addressing with him. But the important point about the safe schools is that working with the state governments, because the state governments are very involved also, the communities, we want to enhance the security and safety of this school. It is a nationwide initiative, but to want to start in the states, emergency states, we need to get the children back in school right now. The children are out of school. Thats not right. By making parents feel more secure, improving the light in the school, making sure that we reconstruct the material, put in alarm systems, involving parents and the community, i think we can enhance the feeling of safety. Well it dawn this morning, this vessel with its potentially deadly cargo came steaming into the harbor right down on the south of italy, amid maximum security, patrolled by Italian Coast Guard vessels, a helicopter watching overhead. All other activity in the harbor canceled for the day. Right now, the danish vessel is alongside a key american u. S. Navy vessel and the two are connected by a huge ramp. First of all, a series of containers with elements of the making of mustard gas were passed across that ramp into the american vessel. In the past few hours, more containers with elements used for the making of sarin, the nerve agent, which was used in that tokyo subway attack back in the 90s, eventually the american us have vessel once ity loaded will go out to sea. It has machinery with which it is able to destroy the most lethal Chemicals Safely far from land, well away from any population center. Do we know exactly what that process is, how the weapons are destroyed . Must have huge security around it. This is, obviously, the most specialized piece of equipment you can imagine, more than 60 of a crew or highly trained, of course, in the handling of the most deadly chemicals the world knows of if you like. There are two huge machines which by process of extraordinary complexity manages to somehow reduce the danger in that material, reduce it to a substance that can be processed much more safely on land. There has never been an effort to destroy chemicals like this in this way out at sea. So we are breaking some new ground. And in the history of disarmament if you like. Alan johnson, many thanks indeed. Breaking news also coming into us just on events in iraq. And the kurdish leader has announced hes urging a no support for nuri al maliki. That doesnt necessarily come as a huge surprise, but he has sent a letter to the grand ayatollah sistani, the spiritual leader of the shias in iraq, not to support the push for a third term as iraqs Prime Minister. That as as the government tries to form a new balance of power to allow more power for the kurds and the sunnis in an effort to stop iraq breaking up. Many feel that is going to be a tall order indeed. Well update you on that as soon as we can. Shops and a mosque have been damaged in myanmars largest second largest city, mandalay.
