Even half they could not manage. What they did not consider is in 20 to 30 years time the population would increase, water use increases, industrial activities increase, waste discharges increase. Right. I wonder from your perspective, heres a huge river that extends forever it feels, and there are millions of points of access. How on earth do you control what people put in it . Its going to be extremely difficult. Implementation of any plan will be the most difficult part. Our problem would be that the river flows through ten states and some of the states do not belong to the bjp party. In the past when the Central Government wants to do something, the states not in that party try to undercut them and not cooperate. That will be one of the Biggest Challenges the country faces how to get all states to cooperate. I wonder what the common sense of readiness and will power to do something about it is. In this environment where they have check points to cross, its taking 27 hours. Theyre traveling without food and water. I can tell you its really hot here. The temperature is about 41 degrees celsius. It feels more than 45. And what sort of help are they getting . Are they depending on family and friends or is there some sort of infrastructure provided for them . Reporter the Prime Minister and army chief are meeting in the capital in the northwest pakistan. They have been saying well do everything we can to take care of these people in this difficult time. I can tell you that there are two camps being set up. One right be behind me. We havent seen people there. Theres another camp basically at the check point people are coming from. That too is empty. Many of these people are coming to bannu town and hoping to either rent places or move in with their friends or relatives. Not just here but across pakistan. Theyve been traveling to other areas of pakistan. They have little faith in government efforts. These people are poor. They have a sense of dignity. They have a lot of selfrespect. They dont want to be reduced to poverty in government camps. We have seen in the past. Many are here on selfhelp basis. Theyre trying to seek refuge wherever they can. Thank you for that. It is just terrifying in so many ways. Many people who are escaping the conflicts in syria for example, parts of africa. They head not just down the road. They try to get to europe. Isis people probably know that and probably not going to do a frontal assault. The other thing, the conditions that obama has placed on this. He said were prepared to help you, but youve got to ditch the Prime Minister. He hasnt set that directly but hes saying we want a new Prime Minister. People in the white house are open will openly briefing they want someone different running the country. Thats a starting point. Its not as though they have the leverage they once had. They dont have 180,000 troops on the ground anymore, so no. Exactly. I suppose the other risk is if they move towards oil strikes thats mission ready. As you pointed out this is a man who wants to be seen as the man that extricated the United States from the troubles a broad . Theres much more public support for air strikes. People understand you send an unmanned drone over there and blow up al qaeda type people. This doesnt cost american lives which is the thing americans are fed up with spending in the middle east. That is doable. That only really works as a strategy if you know what your end point is. At the moment there dont seem to be good guys. Theyre effectively align with iraq who they dont like and maliki whos proven to be a really terrible leader, devicive leader of iraq. Hes a president working things through, working things out. What do you think would be his inclination . His strategy since americans left has been to solidify a shii base around himself to ramp up ethnic divisions. He agreed before the americans led he was going to run an inclollusivluollusivlus incl. He had them confirmed to death. That wasnt inclusive. The americans tried so hard and spent so much money trying to build up what hes trying to put place men and people he has allowed to take bribes and that kind of thing inside the institutions that matter. Theyre charged with professional negligence and violation of ship safety following the death of more than 300 when the ship sank in april. Our reporter in seoul has more. Two months ago the ferrys company chief apologized in front of cameras. At his first court appearance, mr. Kim seemed less apologetic charged with violation of ship safety. The lawyer said through the company head he felt the overall responsibility but rejected charges the redesigning of the ship or overloading of cargo was the direct cause of the accident. Instead the company believed it was the crew men at fault and their inability to evacuate effectively that took so many lives. Recovery efforts continue to find the bodies of 12 passengers who are still missing. Crucial details of the cause of the accident are expected to emerge when the hull gets lifted out of the water. It is believed on the day of the ferry disaster the vessel was carrying cargo far greater than the ships capacity.
