When the pilot mistakenly flew to Edinburgh in Scotland b.a. Said the company operating the flight on its behalf submitted in correct paperwork the blunder only became apparent when the aircraft arrived in the Scottish capital that's the latest b.b.c. News. Welcome to our west new McGovern with you live from the center of this b.b.c. News room in London and each weekday at this time we bring you the stories as they happen but we also like to take time on occasions to explain what happens behind these stories top of our Africa life page at the moment is a warning from the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent that the aftermath off Cyc own die in their words is a ticking bomb off disease we brought you stories in the past 11 days from Mozambique is a bad way and also Malawi and some of the stories have been told by our reporting team in Beira one of the worst affected places and hopefully in this half hour off we're going to be able to speak to one of our producers from that b.b.c. News team about his reflections on reporting from the disaster so that is just one of the stories we're covering at the other. Written leaving at the European Union u.k. Prime minister Theresa May She's been answering questions over about the past 90 minutes from M.P.'s in Parliament after admitting that she doesn't have enough support to ask them to vote for a 3rd time on her breaks it deal her withdrawal deal that she negotiated with the European Union Let's listen in for a moment to the House of Commons we thought privilege comes responsibility so can she tell me today how is she going to use her responsibility. To dial down the hatred. That was laid. On your late notice transponding she and I indeed indeed have a very serious conversation just outside this chamber every week as I've said I said in my statement that I recognize where I was expressing my frustration that others have their frustrations I everybody has everybody has their frustrations in relation to this issue I don't want to see anybody being I mean I don't know the automated. I genuinely don't and following she may recall the following our conversation I actually took an action to ensure that some of the things that she had said to me were properly looked into because she has been subjected Well I did I did indeed I did indeed do that I want to see the people of this country feeling that this parliament has been able to deliver for them I think that is important for us and that's what we will do my continue to believe that if we can carry this debate forward we should indeed take care and I will take care for the language that I do respect here. We have been listening that was labor m.p. Paula sheriff there was the question that was asked and then the prime minister responding to or just a little bit of the back and forth there perhaps gives you an idea of the tone that there has been in the has the comments today over the past 90 minutes since Mrs May began to address M.P.'s. I want to also bring you Rob Watson he's down in Westminster to our u.k. Political correspondent covering Britain leaving the European Union I asked him to respond to Prime Minister Shri sim a statement that she gave earlier in the House of Commons watching the statement I was struck by something I felt like you're just sort of watching British politicians parliament tearing itself apart. You know I couldn't describe it any other way I mean it is extraordinary things I've never seen anything like it she sounds rather resigned she certainly wasn't apologetic after that extraordinary old judged attack on British politicians last Wednesday night basically saying that anyone who disagreed with her and didn't vote for a deal was an enemy of the people I thought she might apologize she didn't I'm just going to bring part of what she was saying that many people are talking about right now let's listen Mr Speaker I continue to believe that the right path forward is for the United Kingdom to leave the e.u. As soon as possible with the deal now on the 22nd of May but it is with great regret that I have had to conclude that as things. Stand there is still not sufficient support in the house to bring back the deal for a 3rd meaningful vote. I continue I continue to have discussions with colleagues across the house to build support so that we can bring the full vote for which this week and guarantee Bret's it why is that important for our listeners you know the 3 big questions this week is there any chance that her deal might get through and if you remember what happened at the e.u. Summit last week they said Ok if your deal gets voted through by Parliament this week will extend the sort of departure until the middle of May only just to sort of technical reasons to make sure that British politicians get all the kind of t's crossed on the i's dotted we now know from what she's just said to me you know everybody just heard about it she doesn't think at this point she can get her deal so the 2nd question of the week was Ok Is there some alternative deal some alternative version of Brecht's that M.P.'s might be able to unite around and the further question was no Camus's may survive the week and essentially what we've heard is Mrs May being resigned I think to this idea that M.P.'s will essentially take control of the BRICs a process probably on Wednesday to try and vote and see if that there is some alternative to her deal that they can agree on but here's the rub but she basically said you know I can't commit the government to backing something even if it's what M.P.'s agree to I want to play another part of what she said as well Rob It actually brought in a term that I hadn't heard before let's listen I hope we can all agree we are now at the moment of decision and in doing so we must confront the reality of the hard choices before us unless this House agrees to it no deal will not happen no bricks it must not happen and just slow bricks it which extends Article 50 beyond the 22nd of May forces the British people to take part in European elections and gives up control of any of our borders malls money or trade is not a bricks it will bring the British people. Together I know that the deal I put forward is a compromise it seeks to deliver on the referendum and retrain trust in our democracy while also respecting the concerns of those who voted to remain but this is House come back it we could be out of the European Union in less than 2 months will be no further extensions no threat to threats it no risk of a no deal that I believe is the way to deliver the threats that the British people voted for and I commend this statement to the house so may I turn to what she called a slow breakfast which I think many who voted to leave would be angry over what would that look like she wasn't describing in the way I was making made me think of a slow brisket you know the idea of a joint of meat slowly and soft delicious and tender and that everybody loves but you know but she meant it in a quite pejorative way I mean what she meant by a slope is that if there's an alternative to her deal or sort of softer bricks that leaves Britain staying closer to the European Union or just any form of delay that would almost certainly involve Britain having to take part in elections to the European Parliament in May June and she's sort of putting that up as a thing that actually she hopes would terrify both her own governing Conservative Party and the opposition Labor Party but you know the big takeaway from all of this is just how incredibly uncertain and chaotic everything remains over and as for that 3rd question her future I mean she really does give the impression of a prime minister who's living very much on borrowed time I mean I think the reason why she's still there though is because of this sort of eternal truth and that is if you were to think of Parliament as like a deck of cards the M.P.'s 650 cards you can't help feeling that however you kind of shuffle them all the backpack you just might not find a winning hand when it comes to bricks or. Rice that's just across the pond from London to Washington d.c. From watts into and these are I see new North America. Good to have you with us and to be so less us talked through the mother reports yesterday evening summary all findings were released for people who have not been paying attention how would you describe what has been happening well if you listen to Donald Trump he says this is a full exoneration of him that there was no rush inclusion on the part of his campaign and that the investigation into him was witchhunt if you read the details of this letter and I will say it's a letter prepared by William Barr the attorney general a political appointee of Donald Trump's summarizing Robert Muller's report and not the report itself although he does quote some lines from it what this letter says basically is 2 parts the 1st part deals with the investigation into Russia inclusion and he does quote the mother report here and he says the investigation did not establish that members of the Trump camping conspired recorded with the Russian government in its election interference activities so when you look at that it does it seems like it is good news for Donald Trump that there was no ties between his campaign and the Russian government that's something that was a central thrust of the campaign there was another part of that bar letter however and that was looking into obstruction of justice on that he says that the special counsel did not come to any kind of conclusion on whether Donald Trump attempted to obstruct this investigation and has said left it up to William Barr and William Barr making his determination said well you can't really prosecute the president for obstruction of justice because there was no underlying crime that as there was no collusion and also Donald Trump did not appear to have corrupt intent so that's going to be a judgment call that I think a lot of people are going to look at and say well why did he come to this conclusion how why is he why did he decide not to press charges a 2nd guessing will take place but on the whole it was a good news day yesterday for Donald Trump So what do you think will happen now I mention it was just a summary off the findings I did. See the people are calling for a release off the full report do you think that will happen you know Donald Trump in fact himself said he didn't have any problem with the full report being released in that in that William Barr letter he said that he's going to try to release as much of the report as possible given Justice Department guidelines and rules and some of those guidelines say that stuff that happens in a grand jury where you're interviewing witnesses in part of an investigation that should remain confidential there are also concerns of national security and executive privilege but they're going to try to get as much of it out as possible we'll see how long that takes and what that looks like but if you remember back in July of 2016 the top line of an investigation into Hillary Clinton's e-mails was a Hillary Clinton was not going to be charged for mishandling classified information but was damaging to Hillary Clinton for the details within that investigation and that was what cast a shadow over her presidential campaign we've seen the top line now from the investigation we haven't seen any kind of details or new information that Mulder might have on Earth that that he decided didn't establish any kind of coordination or kind of conspiracy but still could be embarrassing to the president so that's why I think Democrats want to see the nuts and bolts of this report because there could be something in there that they can point out and say well it's not a criminal collusion but it is damaging and it is embarrassing for the president but 2 years I suppose it is taken to get this far so let's see what happens in the coming days and may also turn Anthony just so one headline about Michael. Maybe you want to describe to us news who he is and what you're hearing in d.c. Yeah this is just coming over the wires right now Michael I've been out he was the lawyer from California who represented Stormy Daniels 1st of all negotiations with Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen about payments to arrange her silence and then he represented her. In a lawsuit that she's brought against the president and just as far as her entire publicity saying that she was given these hush money payments and that she actually did have an affair with Donald Trump he had been become kind of an agent provocateur of the president over the past year or so accusing the president of a variety of misdeeds and had gained a fair amount of national pride prominence because of it so much in fact that he was speculated as a possible candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination well we're just seeing coming out of the Southern District of New York the federal investigators that they're bringing charges against Michael of a 94 wire and bank fraud they're alleging that he tried to extort upwards of $20000000.00 from an unnamed company but it appears to be in the Nike shoe company saying that he was threatening to use his ability to inflict substantial financial and reputational harm on the company unless he received these payments there's going be a press conference here in about an hour when we'll get more details into this case but obviously it's a dramatic turn of affairs for Michael Auburn Adi who said he decided he wasn't going to run for president after all earlier this year but still gotten to be a fairly prominent critic of the president who's holding the press conference now is the southern district of New York so this is the same people who are investigating Michael Cohen it's a major Yeah exactly is a major branch of the u.s. Justice Department's regional attorney's office as they handle a lot of financial crimes and obviously they were involved in Michael Cohen investigation they're involved in some investigations into Donald Trump Donald Trump business entities so here they are now just being their toe into the Michael of an audio as well so one to watch and these are Chris thanks very much bringing us up to date from Washington d.c. . This. Is the s. On the b.b.c. With new McGovern We're live from the heart of this b.b.c. News room let's take a look at 3 stories. Might have missed so far today Tech 9 is trending worldwide on Twitter there's been lots of tributes to the battle rap star who had Starlight Kendrick Lamar has posted his condolences online trigger users have been sharing photos of Burundian president Pierre including that they've been diddled over with a hash tag free our girls that's because 3 school girls in the country were arrested last week for defacing photos of the president the girls were charged with insulting the head of state and could spend up to 5 years in prison and beyond say and Jay z. Music video have helped the live Museum in Paris increase its visitors to record 10200000 in 2018 at the museum also said however that the large increase in visitors was this delicate show that took place 2. I have 2 stories that we've been following out of the continent of Africa today some about the warnings about a bowl in the Democratic Republic of Congo also the ongoing aftermath offs like you die at that storm is now known to have claimed the lives of at least 700 people in Mozambique Zimbabwe and also Malawi there's also concerns about diseases that may occur in the aftermath of the town in Mozambique was one of the worst hit you probably remember pictures off devastation and the stories from that town that was immersed in floodwater Africa editor for cooking was one of the b.b.c. Reporters that was there and on his team was producer Pierce Schofield who's with us now. On the line to us from Johannesburg Airport to having just left Mozambique thank you very much for taking the time to speak to us. Just for our listeners Piers to try and go behind perhaps some of those pictures that they see when you get the call to go to start making your way to Mozambique What is the one of the 1st things that you're trying to do and to figure out when you land on the ground. Well I mean I think the main things we're trying to figure out in a situation like that is that me as a producer especially is the logistics from purely logistical point of view what can we do so we went last Monday we left in fact in new Broadcasting House when we decided to go and went to Heathrow went over North to South Africa and then landed at Barrow we were quite early compared to many other journalists because we had a sense that this might be coming but when we knew there were no communications very difficult to get hold of anybody to find somewhere to stay to find vehicles that sort of thing so initially we were limited. In what we were doing by what we were capable of doing so the airport in this case and there was the only sort of communications hubs are some of the aid agencies are already set up communications and that's where everybody was talking to each other. What we did was try and we wanted to get out immediately so actually in practical terms which it is that I sat there for a couple of hours and arranged for found hotel rooms for us to stay in for us and I sent my colleagues to go and speak to people and see what the situations like on the ground so you begin to hear that there are people in certain spots certain locations and then start trying some of the teams are trying to make their way there. Precisely so when we were when we have learned these pictures that we had seen which were fairly few and far between but were of a pretty vast area flooding and to be honest when we got the plane from Johannesburg we flew over what looked like Inland Sea It was quite. It's extraordinary before we got there we hadn't had any proper estimate of some satellites some overhead imagery but not a great deal so we didn't realize how big the area was so we sort of agree airport we're speaking to people can we get on a plane can we see how big it is what the people there was that sense of what's going on I mean with a disaster of that scale you would expect an enormous aid operation to be going on 3 days afterwards but actually very little had happened so there was very limited with just a cool means by which to go and get the story so we just got in cars and we went we tried to speak to people and then as you say kind of follow our nose to where the story was and then do you begin to guess a sense of the scale. Well in terms of the scale as I say when we flew over from outside there you could see the huge you know you realize in the sea and you realize when there's this whole expanse of brown which referring of referred good amount of time everybody was looking out the window of a small plane thinking this is nuts so we were to realize would have but it was and then he gets to the airport and all around the airport every road therefore had only just reopened the roads around the airport people going around with chainsaws and cleared those roads but trees were absolutely every street and I didn't we haven't seen a building which has been damaged many buildings were knocked over windows knocked roofs off I don't have any buildings under me so you get mixed you can gather and obviously there's a lot of water around and it's raining and so certain areas of the town are completely under water see gradually get an idea and it's all about speaking to people so you know if you landed in airports in Africa in many parts of Africa you have people saying to you join up with your luggage this kind of and normally when we land to these places we organize to meet someone who will help us with a car and help us you know fix up with words and that's a stay we didn't have that here we found some new support good English and we asked them to help us get a car and he told us what had been going on and that's how we went to get our stories and so with this then you're in this situation as I'm sure on many times Piers that you're a journalist the Thera you're trying to figure out to stay safe to get a car to get a hotel becoming up against people that are in devastating situations that will not be able to leave after a number of days at all when that story is covered and I'm sure that must be a difficult balancing act as well that you're getting their stories but I suppose then you get to leave and they do not. That's true it is a difficult balance and sometimes in some countries you can feel there's a sort of a problem but here I found it's interesting I hadn't been summers and before that everybody was extremely open everybody really knew what we were trying to do on on Friday this last Friday we we took the car we went to a place called Number time and now on Friday we couldn't get cinema time to by car because the road was broken it's since been fixed that we had to get out of the truck we had to walk through a swamp and we had to get it somehow find a vehicle that the other side and then go and see these these places which have been completely nothing isolated now people realized what we were doing realized who we were there were many other journalists around so they were offering to help you know and there they were from to help care about actually the swamp and that sort of thing and of course we gave a bit of money to help us but but they were completely open and they actually realize what we're trying to do so people have been incredibly open and helpful the difficulty comes with getting to a place where which people are and really really desperate state. And the hospital and you know it's time to for example which we filmed it on t.v. And on Friday and on Sunday nights when they would differ Kreutz is a little bit difficult to deal with to be honest because there was no food no water there's no electricity and in this sickness the disease had this sort of post disaster disease was coming. Schofield thank you so much for speaking to us and also for the reporting over the past few days I will retrieve some of the reports that are coming from you and your team as you've brought us those stories and we will of course continue monitoring at the situation as well appears Schofield speaking to us actually on the line from Johannesburg airport he has just left Mozambique as he has been covering at the disaster took place in Mozambique but also in Zimbabwe and Malawi one of the places that you can also read the latest developments on this story is our b.b.c. Africa life page which you can find on b.b.c. News online and also on the b.b.c. News up at they are keeping across the developments there and some now talking about the. Measures really that need to be passed in place to minimize at the risk World Service dot com. Hello this is new McGovern live from the b.b.c. News room You're very welcome to the fall of the main global stories as they come in to the journalists around me whenever Africa editors will Ross has posted on b.b.c. Africa life page reporting on a warning about the outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo we're hoping to speak to a doctor who is treating those affected and after becoming up here from the country we hope in the next half hour on us. B.b.c. News with David Alston President Trump has signed a decree under which the United States recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights which Israel captured from Syria during the 1967 war the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu witnessed the signing at a ceremony in the White House as the event was taking place the Israeli military attacked what it said were mass and Islamic Jihad targets in the Gaza Strip the Israelis said 12 targets were hit including a building in the center of Gaza City the attacks came several hours after a rocket fired from Gaza is a house in Israel north of Tel Aviv injuring 7 people closely contested elections are due to take place in Israel in 2 weeks in Iran and flash floods resulting from a week of heavy rain have swept through the historic southern city of Shiraz dramatic footage on social media showed dozens of cars and even large trucks being carried away by the torrent some people clinging onto them the British prime minister to resign May has conceded that there is still insufficient support in Parliament to bring back for approval the BRICs a deal that M.P.'s have twice overwhelmingly rejected but she did not rule out calling a 3rd vote saying that backing a deal was the best way to avoid Britain leaving the European Union next month without one he aid agency Mercy Corps has warned that there can be no end in sight to the bowl an outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo unless drastic action is taken more than a 1000 people have contracted the virus during the current outbreak Donald Trump has told reporters he believed that the special counsel Robert Mueller acted on or obliquely after his investigation found no evidence of collusion with Russia during the last u.s. Presidential election throughout the 2 year inquiry Mr Trump complained of a witch hunt b.b.c. News. Welcome to s. With new McGovern We're live from the center of this b.b.c. News room one of the things we're trying to do here is follow the global trends that you're sharing all around the world you probably see Apple in your timeline at the moment California one of the places that we're watching this hour and specifically Steve Jobs. The man on that stage is Tim Cook he's the boss of Apple and the theater is packed with technology journalists they've been promised news off a significant announcement by the company the expectation is a new t.v. Streaming service which apparently wants to rival the likes of Netflix and others so we're going to keep an eye on what is happening over on the West Coast of the states and update you during the course of the next half hour off but I want to begin. With Israel and u.s. President Donald Trump he has signed a proclamation under which the u.s. Recognizes Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights which it seized from Syria during the 1967 War Let's listen to a little of what Mr Trump said in a moment I will sign a presidential proclamation recognizing Israel's sovereign right over the Golan Heights the state of Israel took control of the Golan Heights in 1967 to safeguard security from external threats today aggressive action by Iran Ters groups in southern Syria including has continued to make the Golan Heights a potential launching ground for attacks against Israel very violent attacks any possible future peace agreement must account for Israel's need to defend itself from Syria Iran and other regional threats we do not want to see another attack like the one suffered this morning north of Tel Aviv in our meeting today the prime minister and I will discuss these dangers. As well as several mutual priorities in the Middle East and beyond well be discussing other subjects also including trade but we will mostly be discussing this defense and perhaps offense under my administration the break up alliance between the United States and Israel has never been stronger Mr Netanyahu the prime minister of Israel responded with praise for Mr Trump your publication comes at a time when the Golan is more important than ever for our security when you Ron is trying to establish bases in Syria to strike it is will from across the border in Syria Iran is launch drones into our airspace missiles into our territory Mr President just as Israel stood tall in 1987 just as it stood tall in 1973 Israel stands tall today we hold the high ground and we shall never give it up. So that is Benjamin who who was speaking up about an hour ago or so in the Diplomatic Room in the White House. He did signal last week Mr Trump he would sign this declaration that you heard him mention there recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the disputed Golan Heights let's remind ourselves washed the Golan Heights are why they're so contentious here is Emily border from the o. S. To. The Golan Heights is the name of a rocky process in southwestern Syria Israel sees the area during a war in 1967 most of the Syrian our people who live that flat the region came under Israel's control and Israelis began to settle that 6 years later Syrian troops tried and failed to retake the area and almost This was signed in 1974 and un observers have been the epicenter Israel annexed the area and 981 That means they decided that it was part of Israeli territory that was not recognized internationally there are now more than 30 Jewish settlements in the Golan Heights with 20000 settlers there also 20000 Syrians most of them members of the Druze sect the height of the Golan Heights more than 2800 meters in some places means that strategically important Israel gets vantage point to look down on Syria's capital Damascus and treat movements across southern Syria when Syria controlled the heights. Regularly shelled northern Israel the area is also a key water source for Israel with. Syria wants to secure the retard of the Golan Heights as Paul's for peace deal the principle of retarding the territory in return for peace is already established in Israel but one sticking point has been the food that Syria wants a full withdrawal to the border as it was before 967 that will put Syria in control of the show of the Sea of Galilee and employ. Israel wants to keep under its control there have been talks in the past they've not made much progress and nothing has happened since the start of the war in Syria in 2011. Thanks very much to Emily horn or for that as you begin to see is mentioned in the coming hours in news coverage so that is all happening in the White House and between Mr Trump and Mr Netanyahu but also Mr now new national Yahoo announced that the Israeli military had begun carrying out strikes on Hamas militant targets in the Gaza Strip they say and retaliation for a rocket to hit a house north of Tel Aviv Bateman is in Jerusalem and I asked him what he knew about this strike but what we know so far is the Israeli military is saying that it is begun to strike what it called Terra targets run by Hamas the group that runs Gaza throughout the Gaza Strip it said Now we know there have been loud explosions heard close to the city of home Eunice that's in the south of the Gaza Strip and above Gaza City Israeli drones can be heard around in the skies not usually comes before strikes and so it seems this will continue and as you say Benjamin Netanyahu said at the White House just in the last hour this was in response to what he called wanton aggression following the rocket strike early this morning. And with rocket attacks some were surprised that it was an intercepted by defense systems how do you understand this well what the Israeli military have said is the . Defense aerial defense system. Protects the areas where it is deployed that is the language they've been use when they've all swore by this rocket wasn't shot down now these are mobile batteries these systems they're portable and they're usually deployed in areas where the. Most risk now you know there hasn't been a strike into central Israel that has hit a property that has landed in such a way that injured people since the conflict of 2014 we don't know because the Israeli army had said where the batteries were but their response is very much around the fact that where the batteries are deployed those areas are protected and clearly this area this morning was was not protected this also happens at the same time I was talking last hour about Mr Netanyahu and Mr Trump giving a press conference together but Mr Trump has signed a declaration recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the disputed Golan Heights how do you think that will be received well certainly within Israel among ordinary Israelis Jewish Israelis it will it will be I think received and welcomed it will be a very popular move the Israeli occupied Golan Heights was captured by Israel in 1967 it is remained under Israeli control ever since and it has been the subject in the past of peace negotiations I mean there have been points in time in which people believe they should be handed back to Syria among the Druze religious minority in the Golan Heights they are people Syrian Druze before Israel captured the Golan Heights many of those have been protesting and they do not want this move to take place in other Arab or Muslim states have already voiced their concern their anger about this turkey being one notable example Iran being another. You know you heard from Mr Netanyahu Netanyahu that this is something they regard as a crucial security and strategic concern for the state of Israel and it comes during an election campaign which is being closely fought where Mr Netanyahu wants to burnish his security credentials it is something that he will wave in front of the Israeli people to say look what I've done. 741 you're with us from the b.b.c. I want to return now to the story of a bowl in the Democratic Republic of Congo agencies are working on the response to a but they now say the cases have passed one hasn't yet break is in the east of the country the 2nd largest ever they say after the one unfairly on Liberia and Guinea that was 5 years ago as you probably remember on bringing in a doctor says a fall he's the World Health Organization assistant director general he's single man in East Randy or c. With capital of the North Kivu province and the outbreak has not hit the city yes as we understand it is in that area of the country Dr great to have you with us thank you very much for your time and how do you explain these figures going up so quickly people say particularly over the past week. Thank you very much let's me 1st of all express my compassion. To new family there 50. Of. Suffering so we have seen recently. Of cases. This is related to the difficulties to access certain communities. Any time we have this type of disruption and security of cases and we are working very hard with the community to cut short term of. Term of investigation. Control as soon as possible. So you can vaccination some cases. When you have some. Mr Truth take term to. And the tape recorder ring vaccination meaning bugs netting at least people around the cases so when there is a delay any higher discount can become sick and spreads the disease that's why you see this. Recent weeks. Because we are hearing of attacks on certain medical centers that we're treating a bola patients explain to our listeners how you understand why that is happening I think we are operating in a very complex environment where. Many millions of conflict. There is a difference between the mistress in the community and this violent attack by a group it's difficult to identify this. Treatment Center. But we are working more closely with community to make sure that this is a committee on the response where the basic structure and organize to be able to detect. Cases in a reasonable time through our laws also to do prevention and case management in a more for story what do you need communities then to do. What we're doing now is communities. Of trust contract where expect communities to identify members who will be part of the response so they'll be part of this. Not for I suspect that case is going to help us to be able to. Import some of the foundation forces control of and so on because I'll just repeat some of that because the line is a little bit crackly So you need this trust contact with the community you need people to help identify air for the response sanitization for example point out suspected cases isolate cases for example is not happening at the moment. This is happening slowly taking time because community in gateman is not so forward if you look at any brainy took us 2 to 3 months to penetrate the community because control in. We are facing the same situation and using similar approach to be able to. Don't know the level of the community this. Term and I mentioned your in Goma but that a bowl has not come to go yet as I understand it do you think you'll be able to isolate these cases of about I even if there are 1000 people affected. So we continue to work with or. Risk in Congo so far $50.29 health but now confined to $35.00 health so cities like Goma also in a response more because you don't want them to be affected before being able to apparent So we are doing previous. Response capacity building all these. Thank you so much for speaking to us perhaps who speak to you in the coming days and I wish you luck in your work as well as you continue to work to contain in the d. Or see the doctor so say for World Health Organization assistant director general. Who's. Listening to us from the b.b.c. World Service I'm Newnham a cover and now with you at $747.00 here in this b.b.c. News room that we broadcast from every weekday let me bring you a few stories that you might have missed so far today one we're just seeing coming in to us about Britain leaving the European Union the House of Commons the debate continues there and we're seeing that the parliament speaker has selected Amendment off this calls on the government to seek parliament's approval on leaving without a deal if Britain comes with week I think it's within a week off doing so I'm going to get a few more bits of clarification on that particular line for you this half hour a couple from our Africa live page right now one is the International Federation of the red costs and Red Crescent has warned that the survivors of Psycho which has hit southern Africa and Levon days ago now face a ticking bomb of disease at least 700 people are known to have died across Mozambique some bob way and Malawi the aid agency says a high level response is essential to prevent a serious outbreak of waterborne diseases like cholera and typhoid and the son of the former Angolan president has been released from prison where he was being held on charges off investment shows a Philomena Dos Santos has been detained her husband detained I should say for 7 months he was accused of attempting to steal 1500000000 dollars when he was head of Angola sovereign wealth fund. And. Now that we move to a story something completely different is that a 12 year old boy his name is Ryan he lives in New Jersey and he lost. His teddy bear he is video to take he has a favorite teddy called Frankie freshly to Teddy but when you've lost his teddy bear he called 911 which is the emergency number in the states to try and get the police to rescue it for him but rather than me tell you the whole story let's speak to some of the people involved Bob Hope is rinds dot we were in our living room and I got a phone call from the police department saying that there was a 911 hang up and asking me if there was an emergency and I looked around and noticed my wife my daughter and of course myself were in a living room the only one missing was my son Ryan so I'd yelled out to him across the house Ryan did you call 911 and he answered Yes it was I And then he replied back to Teddy bear rescue so I knew I had to be a problem so at that point I just told the dispatcher on the phone would call that there was an emergency everything was Ok explained it was my son who was on. The Department protocol I guess is that anytime there's a 911 hang up if they don't get an answer that they sent a police officer ordered investigated and that police officer was Kyrie Munsey who's also on the phone with you so car you made your way over to the house yes I did as quickly as I could we take not one hang up calls very seriously as all calls this very seriously but especially you know calls because we don't know exactly what's going on inside of the House or the location and Bob what was happening why was a call made by Ryan My son was playing in his room and he was playing with a teddy bear like it's falling off the bed but it's a very small teddy bear only about 4 or 5 inches tall so he was unable to find it initially so I guess he got panicked and called for help but instead of calling his mother he called 911 do you hear that a police officer is on their way round to your house what were you thinking Well unfortunately this wasn't the 1st time that Ryan had done this and he'd done it a few years back but at that point it was just playing with the phone it didn't have an intent. Purposes at that this time so I knew the drill that they may send a police officer to the house but when I was on the phone with the dispatcher from the police department she did for me that Kyrie had pulled up outside so I knew that he was going to be here in a moment so I went to meet him I'm sorry what about this that there is this young boy who has severe autism who had made Das Cole Is that something that you were prepared for I received lots of training on dealing with folks who have autism anywhere on the spectrum and so I just utilized my training there trying to be as compassionate as I could dealing with folks like that I could not have been more surprised by how happy he Ryan was to see me he called out to me and I was just happy to see that he was Ok and that there wasn't any real emergency at the house so the teddy bear was found and Bob I take it wasn't by you. Yes it was but you had Carly then coming out to the house which I suppose you know you don't want a police officer going out of their way for something that is not an emergency but I was reading that you were really touched by how Carty was able to interact with your son absolutely just lay still despite your. Kyrie I said you know listen I apologize you know my son's 12 years old he has also the reason he called my mom is the last teddy bear but everything's Ok And you know his reaction could have been more genuine or appreciated you know he said all that's Ok you know he asked me is the teddy bear Ok. I mean just a great interaction show and you know that the department in the training how far to go to make sure the citizens are cared for the training that Kerry had received initially was from a group called Polack autism services here in New Jersey and what that is is a trans 1st responders police fire and D.M.'s about Autism Awareness. How to interact with people and I've spoken to the president of their organization and since all this news aired they've had a request from 30 different departments to get the training that you had received a lot of interaction a wall thanks to Cari and to Bob and to Ron very happy that they're all to well listen to us from the b.b.c. World Service Rice let me turn to the hashtag Apple event you've probably seen a trend do you no matter where you are in the world it is the tech giant special launch event taking place in Cupertino that's where their headquarters are now the big news from the event so far that most people are talking about online some with a little tongue in cheek shall I say is that Apple has announced that it's launching its own credit card apple cart be able to get the card both on your i Phone and a physical version if it's going to launch in the states in the summer one thing that people are getting is so excited about this card is metal is made out of titanium. But we sure why people are getting excited about that but they are you just have to take a look on Twitter the i Phone version will have no late fees annual fees or international fees and that's something to get excited the best so Apple seems to be following many of the new card companies that market their cards with the perks the main selling points that we see a couple those tweets James treating apple cart as titanium laser etched and sleek carry for someone to use their phone and Apple pay for purchases I might have to get up a card. They've also announced just in the last few minutes an apple t v app and a replacement for their game center a new app called Apple arcade so that's a little bit of what's going down in Cupertino right now and no doubt you can expect a little more over the coming minutes. Right there's been confusion as you've probably seen by the outcome of the elections in Thailand at the voting took place yesterday 2 rival groups both say they're trying to form a coalition government early results give one party a larger share of the vote the other party have. Or more seats in parliament there's also accusations of irregularities this was the 1st election since the military takeover in 2014 so let's recap Thailand's history at Understand just recent history I might add to understand why this is an important vote is new casings from the u.s. Team. There are 2 poor old girl in tight politics. The populace largely get support from the rural and poorer sections of the population was their opponents tend to support the military and win votes from the urban middle class and elites this election was seen as the climax to an over decade long power struggle the military and political establishment want to stop the influence of former Prime Minister taxing Chynna what he's a billionaire businessman he rose to power in 2001 by mobilizing poor rural areas that felt they were being left behind in the country before being forced out by the military in 2006 he was then followed into power by his sister Yingluck Shinawatra she was also forced out of power by the military in 2014 it was the 12th time the military has toppled the government since in 1930 s. When the monarchy started sharing power the 2014 military takeover followed months of political turmoil in Thailand being lumped you know what's had dissolved the lower house of parliament and demonstrations have blockaded several areas of Bangkok for mumps a court then ordered that she be removed for allegedly piece of power before the military took over later that month since then a new constitution has been introduced by the military leadership change the electoral process in a way that makes it likely the military will retain control so this means the country looks set to remain deeply divided between pro military forces and their populist opponents. Thanks very much to Luke for them as well you heard mention there of the former time Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra Well he has given an interview to the b.b.c. And said it was clear they were voting at regular season and everyone know. Everyone of so. You know that is. Is that. When we call a rigid court. There. Is not. So you're going to be able to hear a full version of that interview to be coming up on the b.b.c. In the coming hours to listen out for that talking perhaps the result election until May let me turn to some more political turmoil at taking place a little bit closer to where I'm speaking to you from that is the House of Commons has been a debate about Britain leaving the European Union going on for a massive coming up to 6 o'clock I began at 330 said to and a half hours ago.
