We will hear a little more about that a bit later on. Now. You've probably heard about something called Forest schools it's a movement to get children learning through outdoor play but what about forest chair which is a growing number of people who are taking their faith outdoors and connecting nature with spirituality as part of our fresh expression series this week we're looking at a group in Luton called Park chair which our reporter Louise Perry is part of the group and has this report so it's $1030.00 on a Sunday morning and we're here which. Park People's Park in Luton in the high town area to start with we're just playing in the playground and a group of us also lit picking because it looks like over the summer holidays a lot of litter has got spread around the park. I'm somehow agrees and I hope to lead part church where friends of families living in Luton and we meet in the park on the 1st and Sunday of every month and we normally. Me in the play park at the bottom of the hill and then after we've played a bit we walk up the hill and off we go into the wooded area and then we kind of engage with nature really so we think about how nature reveals called to us what the Bible says about things in nature and how we can see things about God in the world around us I'm looking at the hill we're trying to find the stakes for a rock star is that you big enough could call on have you found any sex yeah I found one we're going to start off with a bit of a song this is got a fright which is let all the praise of the world. Praise a little and value 3 things are quite basic to people's lives you know something to drink it was all of oil that we might use in cooking or use in caring for us in bread to give us food and we're not going to talk much about oil but we're going to talk about the other 2 today we're going to talk about bread and water and who wants to have a god making some bread and someone. Is going to make to me all of us laugh and say well we've got here you can read what we've got we have server full fat Greek style do you all good. Self-raising flour so baking powder reacts with our feet in the obit to make some bubbles suggest to me to Eric so we're going to have this equal amount of self or simply to equal amount of yogurt we want Mason bread and I'm making it more flat and now I'm going to put it into this frying pan and we can eat it so we've got a little fire going here on a camping stay that we brought up to the woods to Troy. I'm currently squishing these grapes to try to make great even join have a go. Squish. It's cool wish gripes what you're on top of this if using a car and this is on top of a bowl so that. You enjoy making great yes. A great. Cup we say thanks for the right. I'm just going to leave anything you remember about the bread and if you as we've been talking about it if you want to say thank you for the bread together so the bread and wine session gives you a bit of a flavor of what part church is about there's something for all ages mixing practical activities his learning in reflection and bringing the Bible and Church tradition to life for the tangible world around the group started out last October and it's led by members of stops in Baptist church and later in the church that invited people to think creatively about how to reach out to their local communities and make church more accessible Sarra Hargreaves explains why that's important to her. In a way that had less thresholds people say if you are interested in go then that's a way of kind of finding out without having to walk into a church if you find that threatening but the other thing is I love being outside and I love what. I love learning about his creation and you know what that means us as Christians for us and this just no better way of doing that than being out there in creation here's it for his project it's really for anyone it's naturally just because we have families because we have people who are older and younger we are even playing field I think in their in their nature whereas actually sometimes in a building you feel like one group is getting preference but I think it's for anyone we have people that go to church regularly and people that don't search for anyone really I'm Joey Chang I just like worshipping God in the open space I find it easier to appreciate his creativity actually looking at it and who do you come with my husband and my 2 kids. They love being outside and it does help them make a more real connection between God and the things he made by seeing and touching and feeling and exploring together we love the ones where we did about the relative sizes of the planets and explored some Psalms that talks about space and we did it with like a pig in an orange and I kind of stood across the park to work out the relative distances that was really good it's pretty fun but do you feel like Eve learn from doing this and is it something you want to keep doing somebody said actually don't try and do indoor church outdoors and so what I've learned is to let the night just speak and to understand something of God This is phrase that the Bible is the 1st book of God and nature is the 2nd book of God and I'm sort of learning to read the 2nd book of God I will allow the changing seasons and allow the natural world to speak to us and yeah I definitely want to keep going I mean I think it's it's got so much potential and we're just trying to be faithful and be present I don't allow people to see that we're here and join us really that sounds really interesting than in that somehow grieves ending that report by Louise parry the point church in Luton is held in the 1st and the 3rd Sundays in the month in the People's Park in high town it starts at $1030.00 in the play area and you'll find more information on their website which is Paulk church Luton dot com And I also have a Facebook page memo says Cliff Richard stench of the King of Love my ship. Only Barry was set to smash into the past very close by. This this conspiracy theory as I said was 1st mentioned in 95 it was born out of biblical text specifically Revelation 121 but in the passage it says a great sign appeared in heaven a woman clothed with the sun with the moon and her feet and a crown of 12 stars on her head and being with child she cried out in her travail and was in anguish of delivery now a man called David made it was one of the theorists said that the sign appearing in heaven was the solar eclipse which was in America a couple of weeks ago maybe he also points to the hurricanes that have devastated the Caribbean assuring the end of the word now of course the scientific community rejected the claims saying they were in no way based in fact or scientific research and journalist and former Ministry of Defense employee Nick Pope says the apocalyptic claims have a sinister intention fearing they could lead to people acting recklessly and even causing some deaths but of course it didn't happen. And I'm jolly glad that it didn't I'm sure you are to say however let's just think about this if it was an on lightening the mood bit if it was your last day on what would you be doing. Brenton Brown strength will Friends and strength to rise from b.b.c. . 3 Counties radio now in the modern social media range more of us are sharing photos of ourselves but for some the focus on pages has led to concerns around body image for some Christians like the media post Nancy Victor Kate Lee It's a problem they've grappled with themselves Kate says she was unhappy with her own body before taking part in a naked photo shoot so let's hear her describe what that experience was like whether Christianity can help people deal with their own body image women's bodies especially and men's bodies to say next and are judged very much on parents and growing up I've never been a particularly skinny child not that this is just a skinny women's issue or skinny men's issue but we're judged on the way we look all the time and since I started in motel East ofen that sort of thing it means that I'm very aware of how my body's being judged as be neither to bake too small or too short or too tall too fat too thin so it's a constant battle that we face in sight and naked photo shoot. One of the things about feeling is care of our bodies and I think lots of people today is about claiming back bodies for us selves so I'm not particularly comfortable when I don't have any clothes on and one of those things means that it makes very difficult to change to change a room if you know very comfortable I mean any clothes on I think men are much better at this Actually they seem to have about more locker room culture where they just you know take it off but women don't really do that we get changed into towels and things and all women but some women so I wanted to reclaim a little bit about my body and I did have a photo shoot on which I was fry replaced with some of those photographs were a little revealing shall we say but it was a really positive experience for me that no photos are going to be sharing anywhere not even with the people I love most in the world and certainly not on social media but they were photographs that were taken from a so that I might look at my. Body and say actually that is a very beautiful thing despite the lumps and bumps despite the stretch marks in the curves despite that little extra couple of stone it's a beautiful thing and it's a God given thing and how did you come from the day I was. When I'm a photo shoot and a very good friend of mine came to do it and she was very kind of very encouraging and I was very scared you know when you have a photograph taken any way you make a cell phone or a book but if you're typing a photograph taken by you might not be wearing the same our clothes that you would normally wear that means that you want you all make yourself vulnerable and it was very empowering and I felt really great by ourself is something I really recommend I don't recommend putting the 1st press out there necessarily if you don't want to but it empowered me and it made me feel really good about myself and you are very curious body image an area where the church and religion can play a role the Bible doesn't actually help us out very much when we talk about body image especially for women because a lot of the times particularly Old Testament a woman's beauty is tied to her status so I think a queen has to for example the only reason he got to be queen was because he was gold Yes So women are very much judged on the way they look because it's a patriarchal narrative that we've got right back so it doesn't help actually but then you get God's message of love for all people also you know you saw it balances out but it's just something like the ropes for example that I have to wear you know very much depersonalize me as a person they saw take away their identity and make yourself uniform chip which for some people is helpful for the people isn't by dissing on a positive side you know to unload to work on body image and sort of taking back the stories of beside the would be sad about bodies and saying actually that's not true we are all beautiful and that the message behind Christianity is that we are all created in the image of God And so all those attitudes change or you mention Christianity can be seen as patriarchal is it less so now. And we can't . Away from that and what we can say we reframe the narrative through and more feminist outlook just so we can reflect God more accurately because if we believe that we are made in the image of God then God is both man a female but also a night that you know and actually you know. Sunday morning Sunday breakfast with. 3 counties coming up we hear from a leading Christian businessman he claims many successful executives frustrated with that they've given up. We'll also hear from the former. He tells us why he thinks the work of sports. And. The day to day after all the rain we've had over the last. Mean knowing still dying Sunday breakfast with Helen Lee on b.b.c. 3 counties radio now leading Christian businessmen says many successful executives are so frustrated with the church that they've given up getting actively involved Christian media leader Peta Kerridge spoke to many high profile names in business for his new book Now he says many feel that their churches don't want their help in setting business and all help to raise funds and he's calling for churches to make more of them and this you have an entrepreneur a real gift but what can money make his bring to church. Life why should the church involve the mo and why there's so many churches apparently resistance hits Peta joins us now good morning good morning and what do you think resistant to getting business people involved I think because most business people actually trade in a very different way to most church leaders so I think it's a cultural difference as much as anything else and also the feeling that maybe these business for all they're interested in is money when actually. In order to run any organization you've got to be organized you have to be able to harness your resources you got to motivate people you've got to be directive you've got to have a way of working which gets to an end and often in church life the business folks feel well things just take too long it's too convoluted and you know is it really worth the effort let some of the experiences of the people despite Well I mean 1st of all there was one senior business leader who said well the church has been doing 2000 years most businesses only last 200 years at best so the judge must be doing something right. But what he also said was that often the church has adapted and where it finds it easy to adapt then it can flourish and thrive and where it finds it difficult then problems come in actually right now in this start of a new century things are changing in our society more than perhaps in a long while and off them as an institution churches find it very difficult to take on board new ideas and new initiatives so what was some of that frustrations too many buildings in Bedford this 20 churches Just about yeah and the average church congregation is 50 members So let's say there are well let's say let's say there's 2000 people in church in Bedford this morning yeah there's more people in Tesco as between 10 and 11 than there are in all the churches combined So there are you know what. That's what's a very obvious war lots of buildings lots of resource but dissipated over lots of areas and if folk haven't really got that much income that much to separate them why can't we work together a bit more easily so what would you like to see she's doing well I wasn't. Necessarily in the book I talk about what could churches learn and these business folk who were c.c.d. a Business leaders were very happy to share some of the things that they're involved in and there was no silver bullet but in the back of the book there's a bunch of questions which churches can ask themselves about you know how do we use our resources how do we train our people how do we harness the for the gifts out around what about. Having core objectives a key vision for the church for the year and how do we really marshal resources to hit that how do we use all finances more effectively there's lots and lots of insights that these business folks have and one of their frustrations is that often they're just kept at arm's length from a local church. I think I liken it to a school p.t.a. To a certain extent my husband always says that if they started their meetings and then finished it in half an hour then that would be a lot more productive I think it's the same kind of thing with churches there are some people within a church situation where they just like to sit and talk and nothing ever gets done and it's not an ideal situation for actively promoting the thing that you are promoting Well any organization or any organization of has to thrive has to have a name and then you're work towards those aims and that's that that's the challenge often inches over sometimes the aims get a bit smudged and everyone wants to be friends everyone wants to agree Well often when you're having to make decisions for the good of an organization sometimes you won't agree and sometimes things have to be done in a certain time line and so off the business for that I talk to say that you know it becomes average mediocrity rather than getting to a goal which you really believe is right and so I think this is some some very interesting and insights from these folks and I would suggest that you know most judge leaders were around when I when I say the beach actually that nobody ever told me about time management never told me about how to really varies they were talking about how to raise money for the church really none of that stuff and yet we expect these people without any training whatsoever to be experts in it than the folk who are doing it every day doing it for a living can give us insights as to how to do a better thank you very much for your time Peter Peter Carey too is a Christian media leader who says many successful executives are so frustrated with their church that they've given up getting actively involved is that how you feel if you would like to have a conversation with me on the radio then need clean coal 03459. 4 double 55 Double Fine. Hospitals imprisons shopping senses casinos and in the police and fines said the city's over 400 chaplains now offer pastoral and spiritual supports across many different sports in James I mean disabled sports the chaplains work at all levels from professional football clubs down to clubs at the grassroots now the formalise in player pool and Lawrence is an ambassador for sports chaplaincy e k which recruits and trains chaplains he thinks sports Chaplin's all vital especially at elite level will offer some many different things during your career independence impartiality the pastoral care is absolutely fantastic so that your well being throughout your life and sometimes you want to revert to somebody that is independent away from your well there's just look at you as a human being as a person and I think that kind of guidance and support mechanism is an absolute invaluable for resource just for people to get on better in life and the byproduct of that is if you are a sports person it will enable you to maximise your performance so it looks at people's maybe family life their financial issues or problems their mental health their well being is the sort of the spiritual side almost tacked on last I think is kind of integrated into that in a very kind of sustained some subtle way when people think about that they think oh if somebody's going to come and so be preaching to me when I don't exactly do that they actually want to listen to you but what they demonstrate is that word called faith faith is belief and it gives you confidence it gives you faith it gives you belief the relationship unable as you to be more productive in your respective world so I think eventually evolves into that space but it's a natural evolution as opposed to sign we're right in your front face because it isn't that independence that impartiality is important not just for the great signs but invariably for adversity the drop out rate you could say the failure rate 1st a little bit maybe joint account of mean whatever. 81012 they get to 1819 I don't make it to the 1st team they think their career is over they think their world is over how does chaplaincy help those kind of people is it helping those kind of people yes it is because it's making them realize well there's still so many opportunities within football you can do within sport that you can do because things have not worked out at the absolute elite level that doesn't mean nuclear failure in life because actually even if you go for your whole football career of 15 years it's still a microcosm of your life span so there's so many more things that you can do so it shows direction it shows guidance and give support as to how you can do that and I think that's a very very important it just helps you to make you feel my life is not over a bit Intel part of my work is overseeing gaging with young people that have been rejected have been told they're not good enough so you have to say Well Ok somebody else's opinion let's try and prove them wrong 1st sight and then if you don't prove them wrong you can prove them wrong by going on to do other productive things within your life because as I said your life span is another 4050 years beyond any potential career of a young man so it's just about that well being that wellness and those characteristics which are important for modern day life as people not sports and people does it lead to conversations about faith about belief about Jesus about Christianity it depends on the individual I think one of the key balances and characteristics of sports chaplaincy is that that don't go in the front for in that space you know if there's an involvement if somebody takes an interest then obviously they can relate to that and they can engage that and they can that on to the conversation and make that part of their lives if that's relevant but it's not because it's nonjudgmental and that's very critical is nonjudgmental it's independent and it's impartial most people do sport it's just enable us to be the best balance people that we can be and given us the skill sets to enhance our excellence if that's what we're doing but also to deal with the. Inches off adversity of when things are different so it's more relative to people and one of the characteristics that allows you I think in a son is allowed me in the process of fulfilling my destiny has been faith has been guidance so I think that's very important did you have in your career at Luton Town an Aston Villa in Celtic and peace and healthy I've always had beliefs a belief is faces and that you need faith you need belief but also in your posts life when you have to go into a different life when as I said you know for many current class to come out of the bubble the show has moved on and you're left with yourself your thoughts your life and you say what am I going to do now where am I going to go now how can I then go on to leave a rewarding and fulfilling and basic life but Europe's top leagues now the players are in a much more than you would have done as a planet they're all multimillionaires and that leads to temptations and maybe out of the hole and maybe the rugs and gambling in your speech I think you said money can lead to darkness too much money can and which is why you've got to understand how you use money and make no mistake there's a lot of people that use it the right way you to sleep in constructively to bless others you look at some of the generosity of some great Plaza testimonies and of give away to charities but of lot of people don't and I think it's not for me to say they should do is for me to say is that in life we live in one home 3 square meals a day drive one car we're coming in with nothing we're going out the world is nothing so it gives you a kind of a release and people don't quite understand that while they were not well when you come out of that world and you just live in a regular well then you see things differently and I think you kind of what I call stop looking through the keyhole and start looking for the door and to be caught on a severe many of them many of them a very very sensible it's only really a microcosm of those go offside in the row the majority of I'm a very sensible very small very humble because some men even come from working class regular but gran's growing up in council estates that's been their pathway for football it's over 30 years ago. Played for. Those days you still think about them and they were maybe formative in who you are today to say choose we had a great musical David Pleat is a different of mine often the last of us talk to David for about 5 weeks ago we always keep in touch and order tunes I played for on and off the pitch and was probably the happiest times I had to mark career when I was very young the it was a place of happiness a place of feel good factor that comes from David playing him as a man because he generated and cultivated that environment in a very diverse environment as well especially if you look at the composition of flutes an extremely diverse and that was represented on the field as well as off the field also in amongst the supporters as well so he created a family and David. That's the. Whole Elliott ambassador chaplaincy talking to our own Mike in an hour we will hear from the chief executive Why aren't we seeing new school reports on b.b.c. 3 counties radio. Across beds and this is Helen Lee on b.b.c. 3 counties radio. A groovy kind of love from the Mind Bend as a speedy c 3 counties radio she just joined us 22 minutes to 8 Sunday breakfast with Helen Lee bringing you 3 hours from say x. With a relaxing music and a lively chat from a faith perspective the beds hearts and books and the start of the Jewish New Year Rabbi Aaron Goldstein from Croxley Green is here he's from Northwood and painted a pro synagogue and he's pro Guest I have a hymn sheet Guest My guest is Africa and Africa is one of the wonderful young people in our synagogue Yeah who blow the show for what's the shelf of the show for well yes and I mean we're going to take a photo of this and put it what we're all tweeted out like this one is quite remarkable isn't it where did you get this off. The money to come a bit closer to my friend or. Where do you get this one from. The way it will be I think it is Rabbi layer vote. So Mike I want to grow my lair of the other rabbi to synagogue bought it in Israel to come back this one looked like it might be from some kind of gazelle or something like that and you know some of it's a whole new set of parts Yes it's really a loan so traditionally it's a ram's horn that links in with the Torah reading that we have on Russia Shauna which is the binding of Isaac and we learn at the end of that that instead of thank goodness sacrificing Isaac it's around that sacrificed to God as God tests Abraham So it's a ram's horn and we use it for a number of reasons mainly as an announcing tool Ok so if you think of a megaphone thought. This is a very very primitive sort of give that you have issues it mustn't touch you or your special a special show for its vote in a very possessive about that's kind of important your children have their own wants Yeah it's an announcing tour it's announces and New Year. If you think about it apart from drumming hitting things yeah blowing into things is one of the oldest things that you could do yeah I guess and before metal or anything else like that you would just gardens the filter New York following these horns after animal had died and it was what can we do with this for some things you can actually stop it up and yeah keep things in it but also I'm sure that people learn pretty quickly to blow into it and I can and it makes quite a phenomenal sound very primordial very primitive so you do you have to learn to how to to play it happy. Yet I had so how did it take long Yeah why don't you give us. A not quite sure how this is going to go let's say you wouldn't do it into the mark. So how it so he did it from the other end so you don't do it from the opening and you do it from the small . And tails off sort of makes sense like a trumpet really you got a mouthpiece and then there's a larger Yeah and one of the key here thought of this I should just say let's 3 notes only 3 notes but that this is a social call it for you to go. The key. Really in how very very primitive South was fantastic we have an amazing woman called Carol kettle yeah community she's blown the show for many many years but approach may a number of years back and said Well would you want some me to teach at the young people so we've now got a cohort of 5 and 6 young people who blow the show for with Carole and I have to say when Rabbi layer and I were calling the notes out and they all played together we literally felt like we've been blown right as it was an or some sound I mean if ever we were going to have this announcing that the new year come in this was the perfect way to do it that's very good. Does it does it make any do you have any effects of doing that with the mouth. It's no it's as long as I run like you know I'm getting to a certain age a sense is beginning to go so my my sense of smell isn't so good anymore but rap I like stood next to me and psych Oh my gosh. Yeah so it definitely awakened ass senses and actually this is the main reason as well that today we have the announcing because it awakens ass senses it wakes us up to start thinking about ourselves and we're not actually a period of 10 days 10 high holy days and we start off by thinking about ourselves and what we've done in the past year and we resolved to try to be better the 1st thing we do is to actually go to other human beings yet and so say I'm really sorry if I did this or upset you or whatever and you hope that you can reconcile with people on hope for the most important people that in your life and then you don't keep or a Day of Atonement a fast day which is happening next Friday night Saturday that's the day when you pray and hope that God will forgive you and also grant you a time and it's a big week for lots. Different faiths you know yeah absolutely incredible I was speaking to my Muslim friends who have got a new year as well almost Cohen's coinciding is quite incredible how the Moon literally has landed this year to pagan ceremony as well yes Larry thank God it Friday was the autumn equinox celebrated by pagans Ok they're going caps a little here in the style of autumn which I think is all to do with it isn't it isn't Thank you that was wonderful I don't know that I would want to get near to that show. Ok so. Aaron you hit t v the papers I think something in that actually about. Something very relevant there yes you see one of the ways that we one of the greetings for Russia Shauna is we wish you a happy and a sweet new year and therefore sweetness what do we get from it has been natural product like the chauffeurs and natural product we use honey sour honey is the order of the day everything made out of it so we have honey cake a law you know into that kind of thing and bees of course are vital to the way that our world turns around really and sound having a little bit of a comeback because of people's awareness of peas but here we find people are nicking be hard. And I think it's really awful and really that 100000 bees disappear in the space of a month and it's just ridiculous unfortunately doesn't seem to be people who don't know what they're doing I mean we can't be that stupid to actually go and take a sea heifer get some places and think there are some who got it so it's actually thought to be different beekeepers rivalry and I just think Luke Leigh This sounds like the village green. Have competition with each other it sounds very tough I actually took an allotment last January and there's some wonderful beekeepers down on a reluctance and I love growing all of a half hours and vegetables and seeing the bees buzzing around and then eating the honey I mean now you're Sunny's right but you really feel in touch with the cycle of the world another of the Russian short of themes is it is a new year theoretically at least we take this is being the day when God created the world the 1st day of creation so seeing these bees and being in touch with this and growing things so that they can feed and provide you with honey you feel very much part of the cycle of nature and life and what papers. This is the observer on page 2 Ok very stressed about this week's show continue to review the Sunday papers after the. Weekdays from 3 b.b.c. 3 counties radio we are developing educating ourselves we are becoming more tolerant like most people try to get on with the neighbor I understand about our. Own you know when I was at school often fall too much time looking out the window slouch either because the teachers didn't tell me they were going to this school I could be prime minister by now what would have happened you probably. Go back to my office and expect the caving. You think when it comes to dealing with travelers for accountants you know no truly it's not conversation it's got to be jolly and we don't make any. Straight into custody. Peroni week days from 3 b.b.c. 3 counties radio. Across beds and this is Helen Leigh on b.b.c. 3 counties radio. And Goldstein from Croxley Green is here he is from the north wood and painted a liberal synagogue and we are looking through the Sunday paper. I had a chance to kind of flick through and got stuck on an article about. Stan calling I think it was Stan Collymore on how he dealt with his dead wife and. Quite harrowing so I'm not going to mention that again. Yeah it's so it should be easy being very open about it and I do you think that it is something that should be people should be more open about it and think it was. Somebody else but it's your point is very well made because he's very important to. A synagogue we actually have a brief support group that. Was awarded the Queen's Award at number of years ago the Queen's highest. Award for voluntary groups and it's vital work that we do in the synagogue when people are bereft it causes all manner of knock on effects into people's lives and it's soap important we treat it seriously and religious groups in particular really ought to take it on board you know we excel in terms of life cycle events. And bereavement is part of life and we need to help people within that when they are breath absolutely is free Iphigenia down there we go and stand sorry stand if you're listening. What is you'll next story for us so I think very relevant to this local area as well is t.f. L. Saying that they're going to take a licensed taxi license away from. Last night we were coming home from friends and food and we called up an. Lovely lovely chap from Lucent who brought us back home fantastic service and I sort of understand the arguments why against 2 but I know that there have been examples of malpractise etc And I think these kinds of things couldn't be improved and personally I think that the weight of popular opinion will make the math think again because I don't think he wants to be that unpopular of women who have been speaking out against it saying you know Barry's their lifeline because they don't want to white can't light boss capsule they don't want to be on a trying yeah and generally you know it's a lot cheaper it is affordable and that allows people to Londoners to get around to be able to use services to spend their money to be able to be out in town socialising and that's to say as well taking the culture. Learn to listen Oh and maybe even the religion who knows maybe somebody goes to church for a late night Mass and gets the. I know that there are a lot of drivers from around this area who use it and actually it creates a living for them yeah so in many ways I do hope that this can be sorted out over well you know myself personally I could have walked or could have got a bike or whatever but actually the convenience of a new but doesn't answer Wells and I have to say every person I spoke driven with has been absolutely charming Yeah. Said story then you know it's this is boring today is that the elections are. Germany and as well as Angela Merkel classical concerts pretty much a shoo in for another term and has been the most phenomenal leader we must say there is also story because the far right party one of the far right parties is likely to gain seats in part in the Bundestag their parliament and that certainly is concern of us I have met read a good number of reports where reporters have challenge to members of the f.p. And said you know but you know your neo nazis and they smiled and taken that a lot lemons and like obviously within a society with a background of Jewish people are concerned about that there has been a number of reports back and see the census in this country one very interesting from the best of organization the Jewish policy research of it's a very reputable organization and it's been found that approximately 3 percent of British people are what we would define as anti semitic maybe 30 percent might hold an anti semitic trope in some respect yeah those figures pretty much match up with those who have misfortune ist who have negative views about women and I wonder whether they are the same people yeah I want to with a very is this site sun a notion I think is very important these figures because it actually says no you know people like Avatar grow up in this country beef how to be happy in a home yes there are some people who have negative opinions about us but actually the vast vast majority don't you know even those people who said people who have. A statement they might agree with thank you you can talk to them and you cannot help them to understand that but actually you know it's not too much a problem here but I think the story in Germany says you don't become complacent and that's why figures and data is important in our society because we can monitor this kind of thing thank God. We are celebrating a fantastic new year in this country's British Jews and long may it continue I'm sure it will and so that avatar can go to school in this country and the local school my kids can and we can have fantastic life there thank you so much as a way for coming in once in the concerts a day after today the Bears are in are actually going down at the a lot of. Getting ready for young people next week which is separate a full on lots of tolerating lots of sermons was a children's activities to organize as well so our young people like have a teller able to appreciate and understand the themes of young people as well as the what are you doing today. Good looks on such and what about supplies of food and water they have they been recently all right for a struggling in that area really reasonably are interestingly enough the supermarkets but then well stop but we've had food supplements then Broughton from some of the neighboring matter that for example and they are just 2 of the congregation and just after Hurricane Donna struck quite a number of other than World War I which is one of these fishing trawlers the grog and stuff and we also had water come in from friends and uncles So what's the mood of the people like that not just your congregation but the other islands that you know so well generally it is a matter of bunking back if you know what a common good angle and how your fiesta at the vegetation has taken a beating but the place is greening up already Young showed us the grass is green it is amazing our nature just among food lack we have in thanking God for his nurses because one has to understand there was an extremely powerful stuff on our homes for the most part are made of concrete block and during the storm one could feel how this trembling shaking and we thank God for sparing our lives I believe that if this plan had gone on for another half an hour part of 5 minutes we would have had some terrible situations where people would have been just covered up with how the falling on them lucky for us that was on the one fatality. Outside of the gentleman who died so we thank God. We also think God's guidance as we move forward in the future and we try to encourage our evil to be responsible in terms of trying to ensure that our environment is cared for not littering and abusing creation that God has given us what about the people in the British Virgin Islands and Siri can do a new even in Miami in Florida that they were not so lucky but you still have got them in your thoughts of course with all those who have been affected by these vicious dogs but it also raises the question of global warming and the fact that our responsibility devolves on the developed world to be cancerous holders of green house gases emission I know that there are some who are very vocal in saying oh there's no such thing as global warming but I think again Christian Aid over here and went to 2 other charities have launched this rule was affected by the hurricane and what are you most in need of in England and then right now I would say that we are very much in need of equipment you have got rid of some of the very as well as medical supplies and building materials. Have been badly damaged of course the waters are necessary. Government water lines are being checked before they turn on the sauce that's the very much very kitchen which will defeat the purpose but again I think of the organ Dominico And of course Bob you were next and hear that Martin which is one of the men that's suffered tremendous loss and need to have them to rebuild. The funding that we can get would be most welcome. Wonderful correspondents on. Bit of a cunt to bury us about that but one of. Them at a number of other and Canada United States offering to have a very very much appreciated that we are part of it and we do care for you. Briggs from the Diocese of the north eastern Caribbean and everybody talking team on. 60 minutes on stage. This is b.b.c. Cliff ity would he died in 2001 if he didn't I only just found out levity was I always liked his songs best is yet to come it's b.b.c. 3 counties radio Sunday breakfast and did you know there are over 400 specialist chaplains in the u.k. Helping people who play sport I offer pastoral and spiritual support across many different sports in James and in disabled sports the chaplains work at all levels from professional clubs down to those at the grassroots for 25 years sports chaplaincy you can see has been recruiting and training champions and is aiming to reach out to all 151000 sports clubs in the country chief executive Warren Evans says most sports governing bodies and clubs do want to bring in chaplains only a few are reluctant I think if they've never had any engagement response chaplaincy yet there's always some reservations all if someone's had it let's say Paul experience of faith but most people because we've been going 25 you silly elite level there's not that kind of resistance because they've come across a chap now they know someone who's operate with a chopper and we're not there preach on people with their full people so we're seeking out to help people in a pastoral way and specially react if we're not there to enforce any one place for that to respond to. The questions of life that people may have that was silly not letting false beliefs but with air to live on people I know people come up to me and say you changed the atmosphere when you came in and even when I've not been in a great place you've always got a smiley face but some of that is carrying God's presence of love and compassion for people people catch it it's contagious in that sense and therefore people sour when you come in is a paste or can just have a chat and download we're To me it's not the big things in life because your think is the big things it's the little things and I'm just saying how you how you don't it a scene you look at flour all those little things that I value not for what you do but for who you are and so I think the chaplain's role is really say your value to your own porn unique and special or this was my no sportswomen at whatever level they're playing at if they lose form if they feel that able to give their best they can't play at their full potential they're going to worry about that they might be dropped you know not might mean a loss of income how do you address that when winning is so so important here and sometimes seen in circle in the inner workings of a club you know the impact of losing not just impacts players but impacts the wider employment of people and you know when people do not perform in this crisis in their lives and there's many things that impact might be family life might be sleepless nights for the child and power that is just being there to allow people to be a sounding board so most of the challenges in sport we've heard about mental health spas being awesome dealing with mental health and power. And power chaplains place to be a listening ear giving a word of encouragement and using trust in those little small things do make a massive difference what about some sports where doping is been prevalent and rife if you come across having to deal with that all to try to prevent it there's loads of challenge and not just in spot but right across the society and and so we're not that point the finger at people who fall in or do things that we may think are wrong but were there to support so there's little challenges with addictions and we do it diction training I'll call gambling because most people are excellent as something is because they've got an addictive behavior and. You've got an addictive behavior have a propensity to be drawn into all that addictions you specially if you're not performing so there's a classic quote from Tony Adams Football was my drug it broke his leg and that's when he got drawn into alcoholism and everything else is an interesting I think football is my drug and so we're about teaching people that actually there's more to life as well we have a different perspective we share with people not just about the next 5 days or you clicked finish tomorrow but he's also about the next 10 and 20 He's 30 years of your life we don't have all the answers but we are there just to listen and help and just because so may be good Us ball paid well for a period of time doesn't make them financial managers doesn't make them role models it just makes them good at a particular sport and you know in this 20th century again with Twitter Facebook people who are mobile phones that are under scrutiny that 20 years ago even 10 years ago we weren't I'm glad someone 20 years ago one of the mobile phone techie photographs of me when I was younger because it will probably look great now we seem to point the finger I think it's just to encourage people or to not point the finger by actually say they're doing one thing in one life and they're under incredible scrutiny but actually the person with their for the person spots greatly distrait people's commodities because that's what they are and finds treatments commodities such as a chaplain which we miss people because it's not just their worth of value on a pitch is their worth and value as an individual and human being with so many of their sport on a Sunday morning yet when the churches says come to us sing and worship here at the same time there's a conflict how do parents with young children who want to take their kids to church resolved that there's no one size fits all and it's a difficult question but my challenge will be to the churches we're not asking people to come with we're supposed to go so my challenge to the church would be guilty of unity and about me in a colleague a few weeks ago and they do a morning service 10th service and a 6 o'clock service but when football season's on they do a floor clock service because they recognize a lot of the dance and lots of playing spot and so rather than trying to fight it they just move the service we just got to be a little bit more relaxed and actually what would Jesus do you know did Jesus always operate by the clock to Jesus always do the right thing you know Jesus told the religious people off he went to the sinners and just looked on and so often we point the finger at sinners and love on the Christian actually Jesus probably would have relatives and going to live down the sin a south in some sense what would Jesus do and I think Jesus would have been in those margins and going to community and served in love them after 25 years a u.k. Sports chaplaincy yeah what's your sort of vision for the next 25 well for the next 25 I think is about carrying that bomb forward yes we've been in elite clubs and we've grown over the last 3 years from probably 202500 I want to say is in every sports called the dream is to say an expression of God's love and compassion in every community cults Paul sport anyone says is 151000 sports clubs I'd love to see an expression of God's love and compassion in everyone that's a big dream and we're going to get there no but we're going away together as the chief of sports chaplaincy Evans talking passionately the mind. Rushes thinking how very quickly 1st off our past and how much I was smiling then I remembered that I had been I think we've done well to get the House passed without any major mishaps or any provides Nick our family on the. And obviously didn't happen he has now clarified that the apocalypse has in fact been delayed speaking to The Washington Post David meet who had claimed that a mysterious planet would collide with the he's now saying that yesterday only marked the beginning of the end of times Ok so we're clear on that and so so the world wasn't going to end yesterday it was just the beginning of the end of times. I'm glad we've cleared that up. From b.b.c. Radio. Good morning. Good morning good morning. Thanks again the world has not. Now you've probably had about schools it's a movement to get children. But what about Forrest Church a growing number of people. Would spirituality as part of a fresh expression. Series this week we're looking at a group in Leighton called Paul church our reporter Louise Perry is part of the group and has this report so it's 1030 on a Sunday morning and we're here at church in the park where people's park in Luton in high town area to start with we're just playing in the playground and a group of us also lit picking because it looks like over the summer holidays a lot of litter has got spread around the park. I'm somehow Greece and I hope to lead part church where friends and families living in Leeton and we meet in the park on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month and we normally me in the play park at the bottom of the hill and then after we've played a bit we walk up the hill and often go into the wooded area and then we kind of engage with nature really so we think about how nature reveals God to us what the Bible says about things in nature and how we can see things about God in the world around us I'm looking at that you know we're trying to find the stakes for a rock star is that you know I could call on have you found any sex yeah I found one we're going to start with a bit of a song this is called a fright which is all the praise of the. Phrase a little and very street things are quite basic to people's lives you know something to drink it was all of oil that we might use in cooking or use in caring for us in bread to give us food and we're not going to talk much about oil but we're going to talk about the other 2 today we're going to talk about bread and water and who wants to have a garden making some bread and someone. Is going to make to me all of us that friends say well we've got here if you can read what we've got we have served full fat Greek style to your good. Self raising flour so baking powder reacts with our feet in. You'll get to make some bubbles suggested to Eric so we're going to have equal amounts of self-restraint. We made some bread and I'm making. Going to put it into this frying pan McKinney said so we've got a little fire going here on a camping stay that we brought up to the woods. I'm currently squishing these grapes to try to make great juicy join have a good. Squish. Go wish the grapes which you're on top of this if using a cup and this is on top of a bowl so that he's going into the bowl you enjoy making great d.c. Didn't eat. A good. Kid a cup we would say thanks for the right. I'm just going to leave anything you remember about the bread and if you thought as we've been talking about it if you want to say thank you for the bread together so the bread and wine session gives you a bit of a flavor of what part is about the something for all ages mixing practical activities his learning in reflection and bringing the Bible and Church tradition to life for the tangible world around the group started out last October and it's led by members of stops in Baptist Church in Newton the church invited people to think creatively about how to reach out to their local communities and make church more accessible Sarra Hargreaves explains why that's important to her. In a way that had less thresholds people say if you are interested in go then that's a way of kind of finding out without having to walk into a church if you find that threatening but the other thing is I love being outside and I love what. I love learning about his creation and you know what that means us as Christians 1st and this just no better way of doing that than being out there in creation here's it for his project it's really for anyone it's naturally just because we have families because we have people who are older and younger we are even playing field I think in their in their nature whereas actually sometimes in a building you feel like one group is going preference but I think it's for anyone where people that go to church regularly and people that don't search for anyone really I'm Joey Chang I just like worshipping God in the open space I find it easier to appreciate his creativity actually looking at it and who do you come with my husband and my 2 kids. They love being outside and it does help them make a more real connection between God and the things he made by seeing and touching and feeling and exploring together we love the ones where we did about the relative sizes of the planets and explored some Psalms that talks about space and we did it with like pee in an orange and I kind of stood across the park to work out the relative distances that was really good it's really fun what do you feel like Eve learn from doing this and is it something you want to keep doing somebody said actually don't try and do indoor church outdoors and so what I've learned is to let the knight just speak and to understand something of God in his phrase that the Bible is the 1st book of God and nature is the 2nd book of God and I'm sort of learning to read the 2nd book of God I was allowed the changing seasons and allow the natural world to speak to us and yeah I definitely want to keep going I mean I think it's got so much potential and we're just trying to be faithful and be present I don't allow people to see that we're here and join us really that some home grieves and in that report by Louise parry the poll church in Luton is held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays in the month in the People's Park in high tech stars at 1030 in the play area and you find more information on their website Paul Church Luton Colm and I also have a Facebook page and you can end on b.b.c. 3 counties radio standing and it will be a celebrity friend of mine to do an impression of made for you after trying to get into this.
