The ones that are beyond the David hard. Right are the ones are odd is not advised the man got him 6 times 7 in the series now and it's been a bit more on a lot of strain and not for one indeed David Warner out for 16 for Warner and then a little bit later on they could've got much better Marcus Harris out straight after that for 6 so as it stands Australia are 16 for 2 against Australia against England rather at all Trafford saw they have a lead of 212 for now with 8 wickets remaining the England can of us for a better start Stuart Broad with 2 wickets source 16 for 2 Australia so far surely not after the 3rd test of the Ben Stokes Iraq surely they couldn't do it again but they do have it all to do one more dare to go after tomorrow as well down at all Trafford so Australia with a lead of 212 with 8 wickets remaining so we will keep you bang in touch with developments there live from all Trafford throughout the afternoon here on B.B.C. Sports and in the meantime big game for a night for Hartley Poole United they're looking to make it 4 wins on the bounce against walking in the National League Will Smith food has been a mainstay of the Hartley pool United side so far this season he set to be at the heart of the action again against walking tonight's manager Craig Hignett has been impressed with what he's seen saw far and you've got to play and you would break things off he's competitive and there he won't be bullied. He can be intimidating if he's got the bit between his teeth because football and you know you can see a person spotter pass so he's there's a lot more to his game and just get a thought in and here people watch. It as a bit as well it does appear that he needs to do this disarms in this league you need to do that in on I think there was probably sound last year. We look like we maybe got bullied a little but I don't think I think it suited seemless size with semen and that's how the cards we've got we won't get bullied anymore so that was one area that we tried to address in the summer walking on on Saturday is a bit of a little kick off how does that affect the game and how you prepare for it I think we'll just prepare for it as we would have made we came and it's a 7th a kickoff which is we had really on a Saturday night of no been involved in anything that late on a Sunday night but we're just prepared for it like we we would a normal midweek be able game I've watched a bit woken they've got a fantastic start to the season. They'll come up here and show full of confidence but so we'll wait so they'll be a really good game they've got a fair distance to travel away and I'm sure the atmosphere will be really really good come 730 surprised at how they've started the season I think yeah I think when you come up you know you don't know what to expect the early with them but I think the parts are as well so for them to do what they've done is is fantastic and so they are a little bit of a surprise but I've been watch them you can understand why they've got results the off the freeway and like they they organized well where card for each other you know everything that you'd expect from a team at this level they do and they do it well rather than injuries and we are looking for I think very rare. Nikica he was so good and I came on looked his old self again very early put a shift in for the team close down from the well we come on so it's a bonus we've got him by still missing Nico. Miles on this and you know with the coach and then obviously the 2 leaks are still missing can Richardson's back involved now join and join in with those and just shocks is his back in with those need some train and some games as a few of them do so the injuries are Gambetta day by day with. Likely to be in contention for that anything well out of the way and say. You know the run we've been on we've we've done well in a lot of the place and they say I don't see why I should change it just for the sake of changing his but if I think that someone is going to improve it then I was . As the poles boss Craig Hignett speaking to rob law head of tonight's game between pools and walking in the National League commentry of that one kicks off at HOF past 7 at Victoria Park commentry of that will be on the Digital Radio and online at the B.B.C. Football website Paul out a single be taking you through alongside our common street scene Rob law and our pools expert summariser Eddy Col to watch all the game on falls 3 wins in a row for Poles can they make it for tonight on B.B.C. T Sport you will miss any of the action later tonight coming up we will hear from the Borat campaign George friends news of his injury wars this season he has been speaking to B.B.C. Tees Lee Johnson. The World here for Saturday the 7th of September we were there until 6 o'clock this evening keeping you up to date with the sports events both nationally and locally in and around our part of the world the great all city games have taken place this afternoon down live in Stockton high street we have had Mark jury reporting live from there and soaking up all the atmosphere when what was a special event over 20000 people were expected to attend this afternoon and what a day it's been especially for Richard Kilty the Teesside tornado who wouldn't in front of his home crowd born less than half a mile away from Stockton high street so we will react to more of that of course on B.B.C. Tees in the coming days as well Australia against England in the 4th Ashes Test It's $24.00 for 2 now for Australia at 2 early wickets taken by Stuart Broad on David Warner Mark Harris saw Australia out for a while that their 24 for 2 with a lead of 222 runs with 8 wickets remaining at Old Trafford so brilliant stuff from them all saw National League no action tonight for Hartley Paul united against a war KING There's a lot of 3 o'clock kick offs going on in the National League this afternoon all the shot against Barrow where it's currently near. It's barnwood $1.00 for athletic nail Bromley nail Chesterfield nail Charlie one Stockport County nail absolute nail EASTLEY nail how he thinks nail your full one Maidenhead nail diagonal nail certain nail Notts County nail and talking nail Erica town nail it is also a nail nail between Darlington and lost a city as well as spending a town against King's Lynn updates on both of those games throughout the afternoon here on B.B.C. Sport but in the meantime let's switch our attentions to the Burra because the Middlesborough defend that George friend has had a season a frustration so far because of injury friend will have an operation on a troublesome thigh problem next week and he told Lee Johnson It's been hard to cope with watching from the sidelines you have never had one like it to be honest where I've had to carry on from an injury from the previous season and then as you say stop start in pre-season and carried back into the season it's been really frustrating especially even more so when playing for a manager you know I have got so much respect for him and want to play for and I want to be a big part of the team being club captain I want to be on the training pitch every day and of course in the matches is leading the lads but it's something that I will get sorted it's just taken a bit more time than hoped for strangers are. Incredibly I mean you're you're you're paid to be a footballer you want to be out there to play and once you've had a taste of it for me personally been at the Riverside and playing for Middlesborough you just want to keep doing it so it's restricting enough if you're not picked but then when you know you can't train or you know even fit enough to play it's really hard and it doesn't affect on you it's about being strong mentally and being positive knowing that you come back and be stronger you mention even off restraint because you're playing to further joins them or get some of the subsequent year as well what's it like now having him as a as a manager. i think he's he's being he's been excellent i think he's been unfortunate as well with a few results and things that refereeing decisions out of that been out of his hands because i believe all the performances of been so positive you could see the way wants to play the way the the lad to taken on board and i'm hope in that there's a i renewed faith around the place because i felt that's been lost the last few years but he's been a profession or and and the train ins fantastic atmosphere around the training ground everywhere is is brilliant so long may that continue and and i just can't heights of the but part or and you fail a nut in the camp in you know when you're training in the tin the squads on much there's rarely feeling there's a a fresh impetus in you know we've heard their weight there with it turning to more get wants to play the game e.u. Is that coming across every day definitely that the trainings x. And the star fees brought in the confidence he's put in the our young players as well in the young players he's brought in as well it's x. And to have a mix i think that something that's vital in a change him to have a mix of young and old and that you from this keeps all the older ones on their toes that's for sure and now it is it's brilliant as a good balance there and definitely a feelgood factor around the place and that the performances of being good and i think that's that's the main point to get across and that's encouraging for the for the rest of the seas you have see watch a lot from the sidelines haven't you should the performs is of me good to the result a little makes haven't they do you think it's only morrow time before this side gels and those result start to come without a doubt i think a lot of the results of being down to decisions and facts or own hands and it's not as if teams of We played a variety of teams in the league it's none of them of rip through us and score goals by tearing us apart they've all been relatively avoidable in that sense and then in terms of the attacking player I don't think anyone could argue but it's being has been really good to watch there's a lot of intent so positive and it's good to see some players come out of the woodwork that were maybe neglected a little bit in the past so to go and be such for drum performers and start the season and you're now one of the elder statesmen as I suppose in the squad I knew how you kind of change in your approach to the game because you change position to get a little bit recently haven't used to how you approach in that I actually saw when I signed for middle's cross-wind off the back of being a center back slash left back for Doncaster and I member as I signed Tony Mowbray's office and said Look sense about you'll be behind Jonathan Woodgate people are thinking right that's fair enough. But you play left back and I didn't really look back then Brian left but it is something I can do and something I want to do a lot to play any position of course Middlesbrough but if that sense a back up I'm very pleased as the border Captain George friend speaking to Leeds Johnson earlier in the week after he's had some trouble some time with injury as we mentioned just before he said FS a season of frustration saw far troublesome Psion jury which he will have an operation on next week and we'll see just how long he is out for in the weeks and months to come so B.B.C. T.V. Spot will bring you all its news on anything to do with Middlesbrough and Hartley Paul we're always here to wear a shed a light on Middlesbrough and Hartley people united news speaking of news there is certainly some coming out of Old Trafford a little bit earlier on we told you about the 2nd wicket that England took against Australia on 16 for 2 hours on strike broad on the way as their only bowled his all apart that it's possible there as was a. Broad here. i looked out from her trapped in front the right foot going no way play the cross it does go to have a chat with lavish i does they want your record i do use go to review it thank you love giving it out from here if i goes ago that outer layer the beat up believe all track up but it right here we go technology up money we're going to see red reds back roads week that's the way sued if it was out the really was so they you go that was the 2nd wicket it was taken on 16 fit to and now the may have bell been a 3rd wick it now australia 24 for 3 news on that's a comb after the forts office the some shine promised spew was an old rana because the say i'll we were gets 7 to 8 to repose ear we have free lectures should say they were just trade which of a truth is this the knicks misselling scandal coming promise is that of send costs through the roof put in a we went 2 pm the to me it was lies inside and chance aligned on the murky world A full helmet. I self on B.B.C. T.V. Sport for Saturday the 7th of September hope beekeeping Well here we've had a busy afternoon here on B.B.C. T.V. Spot saw far bring you all its action from the Great North City Games Live from Stockton high street a spectacle it was as Richard Kilty won in front of his home crowd as well we've been previewing how to pull united against war King Creek Hignett and have been speaking to B.B.C. T.V. Sport earlier in the week and will have much more build up from 7 o'clock later tonight but also keeping you up to date with England against Australia in the 4th Ashes Test what a turn for the books this could be after England were all out for 301 earlier today here Australia already had a lead of a 196 after their 1st innings 497 for 8 declared Well they are now 28 for 3 after just 11 orbits. And has just been bowled out by jaw for our chip for 11 so 28 for 3 and Steve Smith is currently in the crease now with him ahead he is on 6 not outsource farce or England and now $28.00 for 3 as it stands here on B.B.C. Sports what a turn up for the books this could be if England can pull off another remarkable victory against Australia surely surely it can't happen again but in the meantime as we take you through yet throughout the afternoon the Middlesbrough striker Ashley Fletcher he was Mark Durie special guest on last Wednesday's B.B.C. Sport he talked about the season so far as well as his early life and career Fletcher started by giving his view on the season so far has been challenging enjoyable. We've got a new philosophy now the new manager is common his own stamp on the team and. Results have been a little bit inconsistent. Performances over all of been. I've been very good. We probably not because many plants as we would have lights book. But could be done so if you contentious decisions when you say you could. Like a surfing performances have been have been got Bob and probably the crew game in the corp and maybe the black. Again it's going to it's not going to happen overnight like I say the international break gives us a bit of a chance to iron out those those details that we need to get right how do how tricky is it how big a deal is it from going from 20 people isn't the way he wanted the game played to what Jonathan Woodgate wants. It's tough because it because you'd be aware that people would move to the job if you go and do you know to me yeah yeah enough really understand. And I don't blame someone for saying I However I think this is 2 different styles of play and 2 very effective styles of play I think the manager last season we never really got in the playoffs. Again obviously the football wasn't probably as easy on the eye as it is this season so if we can hopefully play the right football this season and see where it gets is than nothing will be happy and when you say the right football that suggests to me that you're enjoying this well you're right because as an attack in an attacking player. All you want to do is create opportunities and score goals and it's been evident this season that people look at the stars that we're creating a lot more we get in the positions if not to score than in the target or just wide and. Yapping me I speak for myself Britt Marcus Marcus Brown Rudy. Johnson We're all we're all enjoying our time and joy in playing football and if you feel like you've been given more freedom almost more responsibility opals maybe yeah both. I think with me I've played on the left on side which is. Different different from Ian I've always been brought up as a number 9 however. I've always been capable of playing in the wide positions and I think if you can out those bits to your game it can only benefit your so for me it's been quite an easy transition playing on the left on side and caught in and being able to run at people with the ball and create chances and score goals and just a word on the cricket by the way because it's the 1st day of the 4th Test at all Trafford's storms Australia 170 for 3 you know he was still in Steve Smith on 16 all that but it's been a day greatly affected by the rig and you're a bit of a cricketer when you have. Things I don't think that will agree with. Brought up with a bit of a cricket background as well as you telling us about your dad actually been like a coach Yeah you know. He's been a culture a long time now he taught me very little of. But. Coaches like. With the with the young boys and. Noises brought me up Obviously football was 1st and. Always we've always made sure me and my brother and my sister as well that. We had over things to a lot of the string swallowing of us. Cricket is a sport that I have an interest in as well and you could under the old rules you could actually play for Yorkshire the right side of the pan ice before being spirited away at a ball exactly but you mentioned you know the style of rights just a little bit about your background and the fact that at school as well as football or cricket it basketball athletics as well was that because he wanted to or was it you mom and dad said by the way you know packing up and didn't think you just play football no I think I think logically I've always been very good at sport in general so obviously there's no get away on a whole lot anyway I thought. It well would come quite easy really obviously hurdles as well was the one I did in a flat $678.00 is awful injured hundreds and lazing. But no my mum and dad's. Lack of before brought me or my brother my sister really well and they met sure I went to school and I got the right grades and obviously Football was my only focus and the only thing I've ever wanted to do really however didn't know that yeah I think they did another be naive enough to so I think every every Sunday afternoon I'd want to watch the football the do my own work and. Show that I got the right grads and so much what if anything did happen then I was in a good position in life to go on to do other things as well because when you say you got there I grit already got I mean doing 12 G.C.S.E. Thoughts of excess if we were there 9 but ole all day you know this. Yeah you're being very modest here No no I don't know. You know. A lot of the government that does the show well yeah exactly but you know was that was the hold that you took to keep up the academic standards while trying to because you joined Bolton as a 9 year old didn't you have primary skills or watching it do you need to win all the money like it's a long way for in a kid's life or not going to the end of school and to actually be able to keep the academic side of things going as well yeah I think when I was more even since I was 5 years old my mom and dad would. When we could be at money and I had a one week I don't know have a how it works now but back in when I was with I was I was going to a different theme every week saw one week I was money and I had one week I was at Liverpool when we cause a ball and still play for your school it was the plan for school as well months. And then officer gets a 9 and they offer you like a contracts not a contract but like to play with the economy to. Know about it just shows Bolton because it was my hometown had a few friends who I went to school with play in there as well. And yeah like I said I'm a moment drilled into me the football is your main priority however you need to make sure that you get the right grades so keep going in life and you never know where it might take you as well have you any idea what you might have done if they said Oh indeed might still do wasn't well now it's like I say it was my only focus and. Different interests I think I was interested in like media studies as well and. No future in the. Noble similar law obviously like what you're what you're doing not present in and stuff like that was something that kind of as a 19 year old 11 year old quite interest me a little bit. G.C.S.E. As. Well you know there was quite a few things that you know what football doesn't happen. Going into the book I think I was so focused and committed on trying to get where I wanted to be couldn't be seen the next Gary Lineker much of the day there's Ashley Fletcher speaking of his dreams of presenting in the media as well and of course in conversation with Mark Durie if you want to listen to the full hour it's on B.B.C. Sounds it was last Wednesday so you just need to find last Wednesday's date in actually fact in the studio here B.B.C. Tees for the full hour in conversation with Marc Cherry but we will play you more of an interview here throughout the afternoon on B.B.C. Sport and we're also keeping you up today with games in National League north this afternoon 1st up spending town against King's Lynn live from the brewery field watching for this afternoon is Jack Franks. Just around half an hour going to. Learn Cal there were similar start there you look at the effort going to prove that the fate or 2 if I were to strike the front is really for a lot of attack intended this side of James Robertson was one of the strikers came in there he actually chances I don't baldheaded all the bottom 6 yards out there was there were chances before the 1st goal finally arrived on 25 minutes it was a flick on for the throwing Robshaw out of boys 7 yards out on the volley by a possible X. Ray you could equate to a 3 but it's now one. Great stuff so great stuff for me was here on B.B.C. T.V. Spot one a look against the league leaders as it stands elsewhere Darlington up against Gloucester City down at the Jubilee stadium Miss Simpson is watching Frances afternoon 33 minutes gone it's got a lot of dollars and want to because let's face it it's down at their early on even chances of course Hi Terry can help but it just wide from a corner in the very 1st minute and the other end Tom Hanks there went across to the right for Chuck from 30 yards out but lost a took the lead on 23 minutes and put the ball up about 30 yards. Right it was what it was nearly 2 and 1 o'clock so again the ball over keeper Chris Elliott I'm almost at the ball away quite That's all normal gone 20 minutes home is quite a way down there right then cost of the prop for Kreskin when times are good at 1st I'm shocked but we keep a sparrow but I don't tumble down and looked up and it's not all of those 830 or not it's last one. Saw one a piece there for Darlington against Costa city live from the Jubilee stadium so updates on both of those games to come throughout the afternoon here on B.B.C. T.V. Spot as well as updates on England against Australia in the 4th Test Australia in their 2nd innings and it's not going to plan for them to do have a lead of $236.00 runs for the last 3 wickets just laughed Jeff Archer the latest hero Roger runs in lavish and you don't have to have a history to. Be doubted he was actually celebrating made it was the proud Lebanese Shane is going up the stairs to roam through this community in the world tracking the red red red impact in LA and was. Was 3 for 24 How did that sound England fans Sue perp start for England in the 2nd innings of Australia the oil Trafford Australia 443 as it stands man a slot machine has to go out for a job for arches L.B.W. Out for 11 so it's now 44 for 3 as it stands here on the 4th Test at all Trafford England a trailing by 240 runs after Australia's 497 for 8 declared England out for 301 earlier today updates throughout the afternoon here on B.B.C. T. What a comeback this could be for England it could be time to get the party started. Think we'll get the party started on B.B.C. Sport EXTRA Is it time for England to possibly get the party started well there is a lot left to do for them but they are certainly making a go of it here in Old Trafford because we brought you news that England were 24 well Australia were 24 for 3 earlier on England taking 3 wickets Stuart Broad too and Warne. Well I've only gone and done it again becomes our job to complete the over 14th of the innings I spotted stuff spectacular stuff. This could be potentially spectacular stuff Australia now 44 for 4 as it stands saw 4th wicket been taking their bite just for an arch on Travis head source Steve Smith the man they do once how in this 2nd innings is currently in the crease at the minute but that is when for the next batsman to come out of $44.00 for 4 with a lead of $240.00 at Old Trafford and then there's a full day's play it's a moral to comb for England so Stuart Broad and Archer certainly doing bits of this moment in time for England as they look to salvage a comeback in the 4th Ashes Test developments and wickets to come to bring you throughout the afternoon here on B.B.C. T.V. Spots surely surely not after the 3rd Test antics but in the meantime England they're up against Bulgaria later tonight as well. Down at Wembley the euro 2020 qualifying match the list of their group game England 11 is out Jordan Pickett is ingore Kieran trippier in the side Danny rolls Declan Rice Michael Caine Harry Maguire Raheem Sterling Jordan Henderson Captain Harry Kinross Barkley and Marcus rash for it so that is the starting 11 for tonight's game between England and Bulgaria in their late this year or 2020 qualify this evening we'll hear from Boris a little bit later on but in the meantime let's hear from the England manager Gary Southcott who believes that they can be a match for any team in the world as they prepare to face Borg area tonight he told the B.B.C.'s football correspondent that he's blessed with a talented squad and who every picks from the start tonight which he's just revealed in the last few minutes will do a good job they're all more than capable of playing at that level. Is the hardest part for me to pick a team in disappointed over half the players and working with so that's not not so much fun but. They all understand. The team is the most important thing and whichever team we pick the rest of very strong and they know that their opportunities will come as well what is your message been to them ahead of these games when it's the start of the season that ends potentially semifinals and final of the euro's here at Wembley do you play on that to do you leave that to work out for themselves the magnitude of it how do you do that. Well it's it's there we know it's there in the background and it's a great motivation of course for everybody to want to be a part of it. Equally you have to then straight back to these 2 matches and then even further back to what we do every day in every training session in there in every tactical meeting and. Every session in the gym we have to make sure I have it's a right and if if the standards are not right then we've got to be accountable to each other and making sure that we're hitting that standard all the time so I think that's the key. If we do that if I have it's a right every day will take that into the games and our performances will be at the right level and. Been very few occasions in the last 18 months in particular where I can remember that. Not being the case. JONATHAN AGNEW talking to Joe Root the other day about how the country at the moment could do with something to feel good about and I suppose that applies to all of the whole nations not just England with everything that's going on and in the crisis that we have on the political front. We could do with that can make Yeah very conscious of that I think. We have helped to provide enjoyment at a time where there isn't a lot around for people and the cricket team of done that you know in a couple of significant moments already this year and I've loved watching that that's been. You know the World Cup final was was brilliant the. Bin Stokes's innings I think. Last Stand of real English British resilience wasn't it so. Living in Yorkshire I think Mr Headingley probably added to that as well so. I think we all love those moments it takes us to do that you know sports should take us away from day to day and allow us to dream and allow us to. Be excited about things that you know in the overall scheme of things actually are important there are far more important things. But we can bring joy to people and it's a privilege to be in a position to be able to do it finally I've just got a couple of questions about the young players which are with these millennial that are now on the scene what do they bring the different to the older players and similarly with so many under $23.00 players now I think the percentage is greater of English under $23.00 players in the top flight than for 13 seasons What does that demonstrate. Well I think that. Young people. Have less fear. Operate in a different way I mean the older ones in our squadron even 30 so. It's hard to make too many comparables between different generations if you like but. But the biggest thing would be that they walk through the door and they they feel free to be themselves. I think that's part of the environment we try to create. Not just with the senior team but throughout all the development teams as well. And. I think with. The emergence of more young players Well I've said for a couple of years now you know we've got outstanding academies lots of good young coaches working developing. Good players that's why we had success at national junior level because Eric Adam is a produced good players the players deserve enormous credit for taking that on board and and hopefully you know we've played a part. By having national success in junior level which would evidence that to the clubs that they're playing on a par with those around the world. Hopefully by playing young players international senior level we've shown actually you can still win matches and you can still progress with young players so maybe we've given encouragement to people to do that but. Yes it's really pleasing to see. A lot of young as you say under 23 players playing this season and I haven't seen games where they've let themselves down let their teams down England manager Gary Southcott speaking to John Murray ahead of tonight's game against Bulgaria live from Wimbley the late this year or 2020 qualifying match will keep you updated with things in Wembley when they kick off at 5 o'clock here on B.B.C. The sports also keep your today with our games in National League north as well 1st up at the brewery field it's halftime between league leaders kings lane and more importantly Spennymoor a town Jack Frank's What's the latest. Bristol saw spending town in Jason Ainslie side then Jack Franks reporting for us here on B.B.C. Sports 2nd half updates to come here throughout the afternoon as well with Darlington to bring you some of the of the halftime scores as well from League One in the meantime the still playing down at Darlington bring you some halftime scores in the meantime in fact we can head over to the Jubilee stadium right now Darlington over against Gloucester City and reception has been watching the 1st 45 minutes yes this is going to last the city. Great start for England for their 52 for 4 England taking 4 wickets for just 18 overs at all Trafford 2 for Stuart Broad and 2 for. Saw Australia lead by 248 runs but it is now. It's now Travis heads and he was bored out early if by just for Archer and now Matthew wit is currently in the crease alongside that man Steve Smith has proved to be somewhat a little bit of a nuisance for England so far in this Ashes Test so Australia with a lead of 246 in the 4th Ashes Test will keep you right in touch with developments in that one throughout the afternoon 5th to come tomorrow life from Old Trafford but in the meantime let's hear more from the Middlesbrough striker Astley Fletcher who was on Wednesday's B.B.C. Now it's just the things that you learn even as a as a person not just a player coming for months just you know it is unbelievable and I'm sure part of a problem and I will tell you exactly the same gives an idea what if you is the one thing above all others that you've taken away from your time and majesty like I mean not necessarily on the pitch you know the stuff of indiscipline. There was. Times where. You were allowed to work all abuse everyone had to wear black boots I'm all in favor of the guys are. Those those small details will make it didn't make a difference or even now when I'm thinkin about making a decision whether it's to buy flashy things or whatever didn't you know I mean I have that kind of ingrained in my mind of well. It was a Man United. The policy was you could only wear black boots and it's just small details like the that stick in your mind and think you know that's the way you want to be living your life kind of thing was it Warren JOYCE We saw them in one of the age groups there was life Hudson.
