For a 1000000 a Foreign Office Minister Andrew Marson arrives in Iran this morning amid rising tensions in the Gulf the Foreign Office says the trip is part of ongoing diplomatic dialogue with the Iranians over the 2015 nuclear deal adding that he'll call for urgent deescalation Modo to Christian codes Olrik said is an associate fellow for the Middle East and North Africa Program at Chatham House I asked him what we know about the sanctions that Donald Trump said he's going to impose on Iran in a bid to prevent the country obtaining nuclear weapons Well I think as with everything at the top of ministration we know much more in terms of rhetoric that and some of the concrete sanctions he's going to impose he's announced his country in person but I think we're still waiting to head to find it detail and I think it be more of the same tightening up loopholes increasing perhaps targeted sanctions on Iranian entities and individuals and trying to once again we imposed economic interests that he believes got Iran to the negotiating table between 20102012 of course there are sanctions were imposed in concert with the European Union the United Nations as well as us it would be difficult to see if President Trump can regain international support to impose that level of international sanctions on Iran that's her Obama managed 8 years ago perhaps a more precise. Metaphor Rob news should be a carrot in the stick it's a classic our existing situation this is if you want to come correct this will make you great again and if you don't we'll who make you poor again Well yes and I think it's not just the Iranians who are the recipients of this characteristic it's also the U.S. Partners in the Gulf and even to some extent members of jumpstarted ministration who have very different position was visibly Iran and I think many people were blindsided in Washington and the regional capitals in the Gulf by the decision to call off the strikes on Thursday evening so I think President Trump is in classic form playing a game of guess and 2nd guess among all concerned CERN I would be surprised if he had a coherent strategy or any notion of what he wants to achieve if he could in the should say rather than his you know his secretary of state to Defense Secretary Well of course there's no permit offense sector which there hasn't been for 6 months almost and he just names a new acting defense secretary Wednesday but the fact that the struction go ahead does I think show that President Trump still has the final say because sex your state might compare with national security adviser John Bolton a story in favor of strikes so I think they were probably waters appointed and some of the others and administration from what we having it was the Cent Com commander your search will command to urge caution perhaps mindful of the the plough back against U.S. Military assets in the Gulf and the fact that any strike would go could easily escalate into a wider conflict ration that would be very difficult to control. The present blood inside everybody I'm possibly even amongst us through forces whose surprised by this. Deal some so with Iran move might a U.S. Deal look like the U.S. Deal with Iran would Iran go through well again Trump of course walked away from the joint confines of production the nuclear deal that Obama and the P 5 plus one negotiated painstakingly over 2 years with the Iranians. I mean I think deep down Trump wants to somehow it's a better deal than the one he inherited from Bama The difficulty is a Trump doesn't have anything like the international consensus for such a deal particularly after unilaterally walking away for the previous one when there were no grounds to do so and be there. Why would the Iranians trust us to ministration a 2nd time when they went to the negotiating table in good faith at least how they see it and it was the US that walked away not the other way around so I think those 2 facts will make it extremely difficult for the president to come up with anything that resembles a workable deal and the I did the US as a U.K. Foreign minister Foreign Office Minister Andrew Burson is due to fly Iran to kind of supply is cool things down with have any impact do you think I've interim no Washington. Well I think the more important meeting is the one that will be held in Japan at the end of next week when the G 20 mates and of course the Japanese have been a trusted go between trusted by birth Iranians and the United States and she's there are there has had good relations with both leaderships in fact he was in Iran just last week when the tanks were attacked so I think from an international point of year the G 20 will be the venue for serious negotiation and discussion from a U.K. Perspective it can help to try and yes collate and of course week a perspective there are other pressing issues and you're Hugh K.-Rod relations anyway such as now snoozing Iraq left indeed and the as well as overriding question is are we any further away from a military action by the United States and Iran and we were at the beginning of the way well to be honest I think any President Trump there is that and he's been serve and protect people and volatile that I think even his closest partners and in fact probably his closest colleagues don't know the answer to that would do to Christian codes. Rickson the Chatham House let's go to the latest now from New Zealand week's news from there with Colin Peacock Radio New Zealand calling Good morning I didn't I didn't realise it was any such thing as a greedy bank boss in New Zealand on earth everybody was like you know peace and love and not quite not quite when it comes to those those business executives have been a couple of them in the news actually lately I know you've had your own problems in the U.K. With with greedy bank bosses getting huge bonuses while the banks are doing so well but here in New Zealand we don't have a track record of the so much but the banks do make enormous profits by local standards and they're all the major ones are actually basically branch offices of Australian ones and it was an Australian called David His go who was in charge of the A.N.C. That stray the New Zealand Bank One of the very biggest in America indeed I myself am a customer and it was revealed recently that it actually quit in strange circumstances and what he did the media were told he'd been unwell for a while that it was nothing serious but he wasn't at work but then it emerged that he basically been essentially stood down and then resigned of his own free will probably before he was pushed because he was claiming absolutely enormous expenses an addition to his salary which was the biggest of any C.E.O. In this country $3000000.00 New Zealand dollars about $1500000.00 quid which might not sound tremendous for top executive pay and you Cajuns But in New Zealand terms it's huge but he was claiming in his years in charge of the bank an additional 441000 dollars each year in non-executive benefits things like car parking chauffeur driven travel. And even some $50000.00 to store his wine in his dimension and this was being paid for by the banks customers. Yes indeed it was in the thing is that the guy who signed off on it all has only added to the controversy here because you can charge a chair of the A.N.C. Bankers our former Prime Minister John Key He was prime minister up until about 2016 when he suddenly quit when he was in charge after winning 3 elections so it's all looking a bit iffy and then it's a merged about 2 or 3 days after the strange and murky resignation of David his go that John Key even sold David has to go his own luxury beach house which is known to be in the many millions of dollars up north of all Clint So a nice little the old being done there between 2 blokes clearly in the top one percent of musical and wage earners and even after they had it got worse when it emerged that the bank itself had bought a house for the his family some $7000000.00 So one of New Zealand's most expensive homes anywhere the bank bought the house and then sold it to David his goes wife at well below the market value and again all this being signed off by a board that looks like they didn't really have a handle on what was going on because of all these expenses far far outweigh anything that any chief executive of that bank or indeed any bank in New Zealand has ever had from their employers and this big queue lation here that it's possible that the timing of this is because the bank itself is in a bit of trouble and John Key and his fellow governors because they've been punished by our same troll bank for not having enough money in reserve to cover some of the lending was very tightly monitored by the Reserve Bank So one theory is that the reserve nation which was going to have to happen at some point was actually put out at a time when it took up the heat off the rest of the board but the media is on to this now and John Key has some questions to answer well here with all this talk about a fat cat you make it sound as if the New Zealand and Britain have a lot in common and not least when you talk about John Key there and the issues of. Who the next prime minister of New Zealand is you know where we're going through that kind of conversation here is where I think a lot of people have an idea who the next prime minister of the U.K. Might be the people in New Zealand have no idea who the next prime minister might be and if there are they consider ministers a vacancy Well not quite the way they will be if I can't they conceive almost certainly very soon as leading John Kerry is former party the National Party basically a vision of the Tories now they are not in power at the moment it's the Labor Party led by just under a do news a bit of a global celebrity right now but the current leader of the National Party is really not in good shape and it's very likely he'll be rolled at some point soon and again this involves John Key the former leader of the party he's also in addition to being the chair of the bank he's also a director of In New Zealand national airline now after 7 years and Chad the chief executive all the New Zealand Christopher Luxon suddenly resigned this week so it was being put to John Key to lose 2 chief executives your companies as a is that a coincidence or is a careless but he quit and said look I'm very interested in politics now for some time people have been talking about him he's very connected to people in the national party and people are joining the dots here because John Key himself moved from business and finance and banking into politics in 2005 and within 3 years he'd taken over the national party leadership from another struggling leader and then become prime minister at the next election when the government changed so the media here have been rushing to conclusions in jumping to the the conclusion that basically encouraged by John Key Christopher locks in his quit that top job at the airline and is now being fast tracked through as a potential leader of the National Party and will have a career that mirrors John Key's own Korea but this is rubbing some people up the wrong way because well the media are very excited by the story and think well here is a ball attention and Whiting that really could cut through I mean he's got no politike . Trick record a whole we have no idea what the public would make of him he's never been put to the test so for people to be saying he has and it's prime minister in one or 2 elections time kind of smacks of arrogance but they've done it once before fast breaking junkie into the job and these days you know trickles in politics don't seem to matter to you that is people like Trump can come through from anywhere and win elections in the biggest countries in the world so it is possible he could be a political player but the SES the next prime minister really is jumping the gun there really is no difference between our 2 countries newsies. Exect when it comes to rugby you law obviously play a supreme form of rugby through your blogs and we play catch up but the Argentinians don't jibe with your blokes do not generally that had a couple of close test but I don't think they've ever beaten the All Blacks but the the Annual the biggest professional southern hemisphere tournament is the Super Rugby tournament that's got the best sides from Musial and Australia and so they're for and at They've been playing that for about 2025 years but in recent years the tried to spice it up a bit they brought in a Japanese side and the yeah Gladys from Tina and the Japanese son was Haven't been up to much and they've actually been culled from the competition for next year but this year they go out as have been taking teams that come on the long flight over to Argentina and beating them in their home page but they've really gone one further They've got to the knockout rounds this this year and this weekend they're playing the Chiefs the side from the Waikato in New Zealand one of New Zealand's very best sides in the in the top 2 or 3 and a lot of people because it was night time out time and didn't actually bother watching it they just assume that when it got to the pointy end of the competition the the Chiefs would up the game and see off the roadways even that wasn. And Tina but no the yeah go out is turned over the Chiefs close match just 5 points in it and they held on a gritty defensive display. Not not going to to watch but a really really then map when so they now go into the semifinals against an Australian side in the final rounds of this competition so all those New Zealand rugby fans the thought that a foregone conclusion won't bother staying up to watch that got a huge shock in the morning and yet this is an absolute highlight for me in rugby and some much needed kind of new blood in the later stages of a competition that it got really really predictable the shock notwithstanding what do people make of this and have people be reacting well they wondering what the hell went wrong because they always assume that these New Zealand sides have struck such strength and depth and that they are fond of saying it's not a 15 man game anymore it's a 22 men game because all these changes they make these strategic substitutions with their you know 2025 minutes to go there pretty much all these New Zealand sides have top grade international quality players to come on in just about any position so you often see if one team ups the game against them and that's tight going into the final stages that some absolutely monster players come off the bench and steamroll the tiring opposition and take them over the line if it civil looking like it might be close but no the younger audience from Argentina won the hearts and minds of the neutral by standing firm turning them over and they go into the semifinals against I think it's the Brumbies from Australia the New South Wales side so you know we could we could actually see an Argentinian side in the final and that would be a huge story and that fun almost certainly would be here in New Zealand so if they could get there and turn over team on New Zealand soil that really would be something. Thinking of Goliath and you know more go with this thing in a stone anyway The happens every now and then Colleen Shipman of Persia comb FICO the news from New Zealand Now last night you might remember we took you to trauma in the far north of Norway where thousands of runners from all over the world were preparing for a night race it's called the Midnight Sun marathon. Because there's daylight 247 at this time of the year above the Arctic Circle it's midsummer and all that the race marks. The anniversary this weekend well 5 Live some class to put up with him just before we came on and tonight. I'm. Just about to live a look like a look rather like you've been kicked out and wrapped in tinfoil and it's very cold that was was that was the hardest the hardest of marriage and I was on without any shadow of a doubt actually so yeah but I made it. Well you know we made it home for you through. Supposed Macca through yeah yeah. And yeah you could you lose to the full marathon doing today I don't think you know I find it was just it was very self actually after about. Probably after about 5 or 6 miles I think the energy just went and I just thought my legs were really really have. And all of the course you described is primarily slop it was it was it was undulating through the through the whole course and I think. For me I think so because some parts of it you're running in there's there's pockets of support and support really go but there are times when you're running through you know a good couple of miles and it's not not many people around and it's you know the scenery you probably normally see on the on a good day it's just been covered in clouds. In the caves as they say and just about managed. So take myself out so I'm just glad to finish it's one of one of those kind of races so yeah it was it was quite something quite something in terms of the conditions a little understand a lot of rain Yeah I mean it's been raining constantly Syrians must be running constant constantly since yesterday it's it started to get really heavy today it's sort of 67 o'clock and I think to be honest that one part of it is as well is I'm just not used to it at midnight Funnily enough I guess not many people are. Actually managing when you're going to I'm a creature of habit in terms of having a routine when it comes to race day you know practice at this incitement this now and then you know allowing time to. Recover but today it was just really hard to judge when. You know when to rest and when to eat and I think I probably misjudged it a little bit but you know I'll go around it it's I think that's the main thing it's not your actual midnight it's not lunch. Blackton this is well in the land of the Midnight Sun Well. Well exactly yes yeah it's quite you know it's really surreal actually just sort of you know. It was just a moment by what's there when I just got to look I'm going to start running watch it because you know your youth. Going to be running slower and how long you last mile wasn't still press the button just there just to check it was almost like you know how to pinch yourself to say what time is it because it is like I said That looks and it sounds you know half past midnight and it's really it's it's really rather surreal you know so yeah it's definitely. An experience like no other and I just thought it was one thing that was very nice to give you a nice and I thought right be nice or do some nice not right you know I think it might go back for it I want to say it was well sort of. You can also say no excuses . You did. I'm not going to. Reconvene on that issue. Which you will come I mean you know the people running. From Well I think I'm not sure about the exacts Blitz I would say the majority were doing a half actually. Where the apartment where I made my friend is. We saw the room is going to cost really want to know we're in sort of there were much you know Center. You know sort of parks if you like of runners whereas with a half Marson it was that there was just you could you could tell it was just a lot you know a big number of. Of people running so I'm not sure what the split is but it's probably something like that I guess it would be something like 70 percent of the dollars and 30 percent of the full market and rather amusing that actually because . On the way there was shopping just sort of locals know saying yeah it's a great it's a funny one because he said I think they set up thinking about once in the last 12 years there has been sort of the big nights of March that it's just it's you bridge pretty much similar to this most years actually so. There was a bit of that about you know you know when you're mentally 10 years sex or expecting Oh it's going to be sunny and all this kind of stuff like that it's in so to be ready then you can certainly it can change you know change the. I am a bit in terms of how you approach the race when it's not quite as pleasant conditions as you as you might have been hoping for so that was something that made me laugh a little bit of the local circuits they were finding it rather amusing that this does not often in the press conditions that is to call you planes and. Just legs like all over hips quads. Top off is OK actually it's just yeah yeah. Pretty much every single bit of me legs. Is in pain I think I do and I actually have feeling it around sort of just above the knee I think it's I think. This sort of ups and downs. It's sort of if I check the elevation and it's probably a bit more than I would normally if you know if I'm feeling and those sort of muscles the ones that go kind of up and down if you like climbing. To the kind of. Pain as you were going through. Beginning No not for the very beginning but probably from a full 5 miles because. Sort of near the front and sometimes in a race you can see if you start at the front you can get carried along in a Cox It's faster than you would normally run so yeah if you get out of this once before and you're going to get along and I have to I thought my watch was wrong because I look down and it's at 7 minutes 20 seconds for a mile and more trusted than I would ever run even if I was running slap out book clearly I was just getting carried along in the park and so I did a couple of miles like not and then I had to kind of tell myself in my head OK Slow down columns go this fast so I slowed down to sort of 9 minutes of my limit it was after about 6 miles just for the whole point and the lakes just started to feel heavy and then after that it was it was a bit of a slog and then it. Was just this gradual incline that's all went on for quite a while for a couple of miles and then he got to about a mile so much between Miles have 11 that was very it was the most. Basically the point at which I'm thinking I don't know how to keep this up for the much longer frankly but. I can't believe they threw in an incline were they so you just absolutely yes you got it you've got to think about it that way. But it's one of those things when you know it's you know it's not but you know in a couple of days time I'll probably be looking for the you know for the next race to do and you know you forget it you've got rose tinted glasses you forget about all the K. Of course you do actually you know a lot of my incident Midnight's being in this beautiful country it was a great. Learning and you haven't run a marathon is benign and it's going the right you know I'm going to ask you but I do want to know the news enough. Not what you just write about actually someone how does someone who's older got their sight at about 8 miles that sad day said merely that and that brackets fake news so. What time did you do this. 2 hours in 10 minutes it's the slowest of it don't actually I mean the fastest of everyone is about one hour and 60 so that probably tells you how much more difficult this was than any you know I knew any of the others have done so yes I was in time votes again it's one of those on the one hand it's not was you know on paper I'd say well I'm not very happy with the time but actually in practice it was so hard for me anyway you know I'm just glad to finish I'm still standing and I'm sure in a few days all you know pains all wear off and also have this little medal around my neck which owner. Cherish some kind of this parish having done the midnight marathon run to me just will do a run up of the Women's World Cup Vince has got the latest form of headlines as Paul given. Them did. Radio 5 a fan is trying to get the latest on the women's World Cup with Caroline Barca who's joined by English former football goalkeeper RACHAEL BROWN Finn is a former in Berlin Leeds player Lucy ward for the football daily podcast insists is the full day forecast. Let's focus on England Cameroon then in action and hoping to join Germany in the quarterfinals That's tomorrow here in Valencia will have a 430 kickoff bringing the whole game here before later in the day we'll have the France Brazil match the to caucus for you on 5 our sport Cameroon I've been speaking in the last couple of hours that coach says that the job in general didn't 8 is really showing the way for this Cameron side used to be the fitness coach with Cameron says England have many strengths but a couple of weaknesses we hope to play on those weaknesses tomorrow he was then asked if he could list though the weaknesses says we don't need to list them they were written down in my head and then he went on to talk about Phil Neville being a household name he made to stream we are addicted to football and Cameron said the coach but he's not on the pitch he's on the sidelines there's real belief Lacy in this Cameron same that they can not only take England on a match them but they can find a way to beat them yeah I watched. Netherlands. And you know that the full of confidence in not might not quite be as good as the Netherlands as good as England but I think their strength is their unpredictability they don't particularly know what they're going to do next and so that makes it very difficult for the opposition to work out what we're going to do next so that will be the bit that England will find the most difficult when it when the facing camera because usually you look at the pattern of played every year opposition and and see what they do in particular situations and then adapt your game plan to suit but you know like I say Cameroon rely on the pace of the the wingers on getting calls loads of issues for the for the Netherlands she liked to be booed the crowd on the back but she loved it she was rolling about all over the place so they will they will pose different sort of problems in England if a so far but the not to be discounted I don't think if you look at the results obviously Cameroon beat New Zealand England failed pretty miserably against New Zealand in the build up to it so if you look at if I was Cameroon now be taking a lot of positives from not only their result and getting through in 3rd place position but the fact that New Zealand in some ways out. Completely out did not friendly I'm sure they will look back at the video from and looked at how they could exploit England they've shown some funded palaces I believe through the middle Japan we were I think fortunate Japan didn't go past as in the last game so I can see where the cameras source data coming from from Cameroon belief where that is generated from. They've got nothing to lose that they've not exceeded their expectations they would have wanted desperately kind of like Scotland to get through to this. To this last 16 stage but beyond that you know is is beyond their expectations so if we look at the England team that's performed in the group stages to see who you are looking to make changes heading into Cameroon based on what we've seen in the groups I think you've had good performances from from the majority of the squad played but. At some point you need to become settled in and I'm talking goalkeeper to said I have a full box and then maybe the City midfielder depend on how we do play you know the rest of the team the what I would call the variables of the team that can change that would be the game in the constants are so important the 4 in the in the goalkeeper they're so important to get those right because they'll stop you from losing and then the rest of them can make sure that you win the game you know we can't really 2nd guess what what Phil Neville is going to pick as a team and that's that's probably a positive thing so we're all sort of you know look at his name in our 11 it's pretty obvious when you know and same ball perhaps he should be playing she should be playing and a do think the most important thing in tone and situations is keeping the subs happy you know making sure the subs hours positives of as possible you know it's something that Jill Scott I spoke to Jill Scott about and I think that's what worked in 2015 that it was a positive environment Stephanie that that squad ethic that Phil never was spoken about because Fox has been up at his press conference pretty of course to be commentating on the game for some 5 live Sport was he in their food joviality that we've expected from Phil Neville so far in this tournament How was the yes he was it was a very relaxed press conference a conference it went on for a long time is how happy for journalists to keep asking questions and really digging into what they say matched the England against Cameroon is going to be like he has a fairly fit scored to choose from so there will be some big decisions weren't there a lot of Tony Dugan made perhaps enemy Jody Taylor just a couple of the choices that never is going to have to make what about the changes then leave so you said keep the core Tony Dugan in there Vicky said then that Tony DUNCAN That's the question that's been asked Is that a change that you would make Lucy probably yeah but although what I like I'm going to sit completely on the fence because I really don't like what both me has to offer I think it a 100 percent fit to own a dog and perhaps whether she is at that level at the moment I'm not sure I think you can change Ellen White because you know once you go girl scout. With their eye in and you keep them there just like Jody Taylor about it and he did a really. Nice windows Yeah but I think you know go get serious now then serious questions are asked so you know that that's the way it is and when it gets to the stage of the competition it might just be one or 2 chances that you get so you need the player on the pitch who you know for a fact is enough to fall I think Betemit is been trick in this you know who's almost faithful really the only dog that picked up the injury and she got the chance to start arguably ahead of Tony Dugan on that left in that 11 position I feel that Tony Duggan when she played in the last game with Demi Stokes behind uphill didn't really kind of shower cause in some ways in the them so it's been over a lot didn't join in didn't really kind of provide an option too many times for Toni Duggan and I felt like Tony went off the pitch very frustrated. She kind of looked for a straight edge was kind of almost grinning with through gritted teeth and in some ways I feel like Tony will be still fresh from up for wins with Alex Greenwood behind me is as proved herself as the star in LA but for England will have a kind of better chance of proving her up. On the subject of Tony Duggan she was all missed after the last game was and she I think our offense off. The stage is you feel like you felt come from the pictures and I didn't I didn't did I so sure want to put that one behind Yeah absolutely I mean he's had a brilliant domestic season 15 goals the past Alaina this season they finished runners up in the league of weeks the Champions League Final as well and I think that would just be the frustrating thing they've such the frustrating thing for her that she just picked up this injury at the wrong time and that was one of those positions Paris Dugan a mate you would have expected as he was saying if there were 100 percent fit that I would have been dug in Paris but Tony Dugan wasn't fit best mate came in. And she has shown so much Bethany particularly 2019 for England had a very good she believes compass well and Phil Neville said before the World Cup She wasn't just knocking on the starting line up till she was aging her way inside and so I think I think that's a good point as well about the differences between the way the ice cream wood and Demi stakes play that green would often bet made a little bit more down that left hand side bet but you have to say on performance one performance at this World Cup you would take better made parts Tony Dugan we know how good she is and she will hope to be given that. This is the P.C. Side OK let's hear from the manager Phil Neville He's been speaking head of the Cameron Yeah the mood being God we recovered well. The day after the game we give the players a day off it was a high emotional physical game again their families are in nice and it was a nice time for them to switch off we knew that but now it's not about the training it's about getting them all fresh we've got every player fit and available for selection which is which is a massive plus wars we've trained today. Or we've come up north where we like to be and the players have got steel in their eyes and you know we're all excited about tomorrow night's game the games are in thrall and you know where when we started the World Cup was up period of 10 days before and the build up where you think was just enjoy the build up the place France but now actually any place you go to you just want the games to complete come faster and the games will now it's a $530.00 kickoff it's not a long day tomorrow we're up breakfast and out of say steel in the eyes from your players will that be one of the biggest challenges from Cameroon as well their team spirit and of course their physicality Yeah I think I think you've the physicality is obviously a. Key a key for them their unpredictability is good but you know it always it always makes me laugh when people say a team plays with great spirit like Argentina in Cameroon if we're be if we're beaten found lacking in that area then. Then I've not done my job right you know our spirit our togetherness should be equally is as strong as Cameron's and you just hope that our attitudes and our concentration and more importantly our discipline is good as well and if that is the case then then the result will look after itself does Team selection pays it's never a welcome headache is it but you know that perspective of a welcome headache there are a couple of positions in particular where there are 2 plays fighting for one spot and both players will perhaps expect to start and you've got to make that call Yeah people say oh it's a nice problem to have I don't think it is a nice problem to have I think ever invented die is a liar because you know we've got 2 players for every position some 3 you think of Rachel Dale you complain 3 or 4 different positions and wants to play in 3 or 4 different positions soul selection is really difficult the nice thing is that it's a nice problem to have in terms of we've got everybody fit well in form and they're all wanting to play and I know I can pick any team tomorrow night and I know that they'll go out there and perform like they've done in the last 3 games if Jill Scott plays she will become England's Mais kept playing at a senior men's and women's overtaking that record held by Peter Shilton one incredible achievement that would be from her war a big player she. Amazing amazing player an amazing person she will break that record. Without a shadow of a doubt because she's fit enough to go to the next well you know Seoul so that record will probably not be beat for a long long time. Ready we're really fortunate I'm really fortunate we've we've got Jill Scott will be the most capped player of all time in far Williams is the most got the most caps of any international player male and female so Scholz that type of player is still solve all you will in the game you know we are not the World Cup but our influence is still vital within the cell within the England central contract system until Scott's performances out say for the last. 56 games she's probably been our most outstanding player and she's she's showing she show in the form that we know she can she doesn't want rest in she doesn't need any special privileges and she's the most popular player in the squad because of our attitude to work in Iraq to to to off one ship is probably the probably what a lioness stands for final question from a. It has become a big big talking point in this well for ya I wanted to ask specifically about his decision for the rest of the tournament not to show yellow cards to go in she towns fur encroachments a surprise I've got you know it's not something I really want to get involved in but I've got to say I was surprised surprised when I saw that the Premier League weren't taken at the same rules as what we are adhering to in the World Cup as well bore you know I think after the tournament we probably have to take stock of where football's going you know it's still still got to be real it's still got to be still got to be fair for every player on that pitch and the supporters watch and it's got to be fair for as well so I think I'm sure feed for after that with the World Cup I've got major to decisions to make and nor probably look themselves in the mirror and thought probably we should have done some things a little bit different that's the disappointment but it's probably a conversation for after the World Cup when when we look back and think you know that we're that didn't work I think they I was a fantastic thing we have to support the rules and the regulations that we've been told to adhere to and that's all I've said to my players you can like it you can you can hate it but ultimately the rules are the reals and we've just got to stick by. England's most capped player at this World Cup is carrying CARNEY And she's been having a chat with our most cats RACHAEL BROWN Phineas Khan he's been in every major tournament since she made her debut at the Euros in 2005 how she finding the swim of enjoyed it of a seem more enjoyable when your you get there wins 23 S. 3 for us this is a great start but yeah I think the hosts have done a really good job the media coverage has been fantastic support being great and the you know the stadiums about fabulous So it's been a good tournament so far so how was nice compared to China and. You know during this. Other ones in between Yeah I mean this is before we stay in a fantastic hotel the weather is unbelievable I mean. I'm 3 doors in this current hotel I'm 3 doors down from Serena Williams So it's not too shabby So yes it's I you know for the game watching Serena play warming up going in the gym and then training next to God This Williams. It was and that's why I went down and put it on my Instagram was like get inspired and just kind of watching what she had ahead of Wimbledon and you know she's the most iconic female athlete out there at the moment and just to watch so hotels are not too shabby said very different from from China and you know. All the experiences that we've had you know yourself the there are amazing even when sometimes it's tough in different countries that sometimes is what makes what makes a tournament special so of a mover and shaker in women's sports talk about Serena Williams But you know you are one of those role models now along with you know a lot of the you know the England team. The vibe in Nice I think to be quite rely to both of those things reflects where you are as a squad where women's football is. You know kind of the states you have now is female footballers and also the expectations of what the squad is here in this world cope do you feel in live an embodied as a collective different kind of feel we haven't. Seen and felt the shift to that yes Asian from whole more so is changing and we are aware that we're role models and we are looked upon and. You know but that's something that we've all aspired to that we've all wanted and we've wanted it for years and years and so it's not to be taken lightly and live where we said to each that we we do have a responsibility I'm not saying that because you will hear you know you guys so much and it's our responsibility to continue to pass on like our job is easy like time for. Or that. People were dying for to give us the option is that they've given us now so we can take that for granted and we are fully aware that we are role models and we are to inspire the next generation and keep that spiral go and make sure that women's what was in the right direction that we stay humble that we stay grounded even when it does it is going to rock and it is going to spiral it is important to stay grounded and stand for what we 1st started for and limits what will make a massive progress which is like believe ball and feel really proud to be a part of our expectations or is and with you see like the kind of iconic almost gatherin post much with Phil Neville in the middle and. A little giggles of from that kind of that certainly sometimes it's kind of has a different vibe to what's he brought as galvanized his team and there's shifted that expectation I think you just books his own experience you know he's been winning teams. You know we started he's been a Serb he gets a hole is a footballer and I think. That's something that you can order as ignite was a prior is that probably every experience that we've been through he's felt as a player so he can kind of get it so whether you've started out a world away or been a sore or not played any Mini or not even been selected has been a part of that and he's experienced that and is a really sensitive guy and he always most makes you feel like you're a person 1st and I think that's really call and the group seems to like him and responds well to him when I 1st met him I was just surprised at how nice he was and I know me like me for saying that but yeah I was surprised about that because you think someone who's won everything Been there done it but he just brings that humble and that ground in us to us as well so you humans 1st 100 percent you're him and 1st and he's very big on standards how you speak to people I speak to each other he's really really big on that respect that we have for one another and to everyone that we come into contact with is to conduct yourself of pure class to think that kind of resembles the the much the United Way how he's been brought into think that's helped with looking from the outside in this but a lot of chop and change and start love and but I'm gettin it seems like you guys are very comfortable with that do you think that that level of respect crossed the group has it helped Yeah because like yesterday a lot of example a robot is the youngest player is goalkeeper and she's here if experience but for me she's she's just as important she is as important as can body played yesterday I think he really makes especially me. Everyone is really important and I think when someone comes in and it's like yesterday when least I'm for consequences that moment was. Was unbelievable and she hasn't played one minute yet and you go you do it for them they want to get on that pitch just as much as you but they're straight up to you and given you. It is when it really should be over and we were doing so you'll never step on that pitch but she's working hard every day and transmit and it's just that's the that's what I like about this group is that hope and it continues that we always put each over 1st before ourselves and that's really difficult in a team of Vironment sometimes do you think that's been so all changed you know if you look at a 2 percent. Difference from bronze to gold as it was do you think though that could be kind of the. Ego to need everybody and everyone's going to have them moment and that's why you're in the team and I hope that's a difference that gets us from bronze to gold so we'll just have to wait and see that environment been the most powerful thing to think I think so and I think the football as well I think playing good football and trying to keep the ball moving and playing on the floor that's been good as well and I think it suits the team so I just hope we keep going we nominate in that tournament about momentum and having a bit of luck and hopefully that continues and I think the next 2 games are going to be the biggest ones well 1st of all let's get let's get this one sorted one game a time Carol Yeah exactly and the thing Kenai once we we do that hopefully will keep Karen Carney with RACHAEL BROWN for a couple of days ago but one game at a time when you get to the knockout stages. Is this is Karma's you've seen Karen this at this moment you know going from from what's been the groups where you can if they haven't they 100 percent but where you can almost afford a slip up to now heading into the knockouts Yeah just to there's no sign of complacency I don't think in any of those games they just weren't didn't the end product may be wasn't wasn't there for the full 90 minutes and the end product was 3 points for each of those games but they know they can play better but absolutely Carney's 3 unflappable. You see here today seemed Germany big Nigeria 3 nil Germany will now play in the Sweden or Canada or in the quarterfinals Lucy is this pretty much as expected when we look at the last 16 and we Germany going through so far yeah I think so I mean no obviously have not commented on Germany Nigeria today didn't really have to get out of 2nd or 3rd gear Germany Nigeria showed glimpses but I don't think Germany have come up against a side that's causing problems I don't I'm not so sure about that sent our partnership will put the pressure for Germany against better opposition so we'll see what happens in the quarter finals. They've given a bit of a lie got where they were the early controversy the 2 goals really the 1st one that went to V.A.R. For offside What did you make of that one cost me being a goalkeeper I might have a different point of view yeah I think you know to tease interfere with player wise you know right in front of the goalkeeper Having said that the consistency in this tournament I expected that to not be given offside because of the all the complications the most memorable recently Kalin Lloyd. You know she was she was in an offside position it wasn't given offside but you know we would expect that to and Casey Stoney and Laura Bassett have a cyclical defenders do will mourn in about that not being given offside but you know in terms of the the tournament and what's happened so far I did not surprise me that the goal was given at least they've got consistency because for me is as yet pop a fantastic had put the goalkeeper for Nigeria had to literally push off the attacker he was in the offending position he was interfering with play and had to take a position so you could see the ball to the right of the defender and it was clearly interfering so maybe it's consistent but it's consistently wrong in my Yeah you know I agree with you Richard I completely agree with you as a as a goalkeeper it made it difficult you know yes she was interfering with play she wasn't stood on the goalkeeper stills but she was in a position where like you say the goalkeeper gave more of the goal to pop the pop to a much so you know if we were if we were watching that as a normal game we'd say it was offside but having watch what's going on so far in this tournament that that doesn't surprise me it was given the goals given to morrow to morrow we'll be back tomorrow I could have burst into song them but I know how much producer Chris likes that so I won't Will England have made it through to the quarter finals will have that game in full on 5 Live Sports a full 30 kickoff also on Sunday at 8 o'clock you'll be able to hear fronts Brazil from the heart of the final 16 up running then plenty more questions to be answered on the football daily Hope Solo's return she.
