Spock's Thanks much indeed long delays for the 8 to 500 since none of them thanks That sound isn't a Sam Smith and I feel love. Saturday morning down the pike kid so maybe I could have you with us so there she is big Christmas show at the theater will brighten is the live version of the 1994 hit film Priscilla Queen of the desert it stars actor and 2017 straight each m.p. Enjoyment fattened before we hear from Judd you'd have to say the. Music is a costar of the show the movie soundtrack included these classics. So let's find out more about Priscilla Patton So 1st of all was he think of a big going for the tried and tested hit shows rather than putting on a traditional pantomime I think it's really savvy actually because you know panto isn't for everyone you know if you don't have kids if you're not sort of that we then then you want to go and see a musical and I think this is the music for Christmas time you know what there's a great message in there there's great great music everyone's up and dancing and if you're not the type of person who particularly loves plants my more loves Christmas then this is this is a really great escape from all of that for a few hours tell us a wee bit about sexist. Book and a film. Which did really well back in 1004 think it was 25 years ago. An iconic film is still going. Really important film and and did so well and is remembered so far only in and the great thing about musicals even if you haven't seen the film you still get so much from and it's it's it's got all the best things of the film in those stories in those characters but you know it's so many other brilliant their school tracks as well so yeah it's if you love the film you absolutely love the musical let's start with the story shall we who do you play I play a character called Tech who starts at the shore in Sydney in a nightclub doing drag and he gets a call from his past from his from a wife that he's had many years previously to come and he he and. His other drag queen friend and his transgender friend and they all get in a bus called Priscilla Queen of the desert and the it's their journey across Australia from Sydney to Alice Springs and the scrapes and the danger and the adversity that they face on the way and their triumph over all of that and on the way there's this kind of the some some great great dancers and and it's a really interesting story and fantastic characters that really change on this journey that the Gorn across Australia music wise what we got in there I will survive I love the night life always on my mind like so many songs that you grew up listening to and. Have been really well we've just spent a week in Inverness and I've never known a theatre like it they were literally. Jumping to their feet away and screaming and it's kind of like a rock concert in a way I've never been in a show like where the audience are just really really respond to those characters and to the songs that we have and we have some amazing talent in the show you know we have these 3 divas who who are just kind of singing these amazingly iconic songs all my and doing them beautifully and like it's one of the most talented costs of a walk to earth every single person to tell one is is just perfect for the rules you know we have Miles Western and. And play in the other the other drag queens and and it's just a joy going on stage with them all and seen the reaction that we get there on their feet every night you mentioned the reaction you got in Inverness. Being thrown down to a Brighton audience at Christmas like yourself Oh yes absolutely and I know that right now it is I was there a few months ago over the house on cold hill and I know they can be really up for and I think this is the shore for Brighton at Christmas time you know I anticipate that it's going to be good I really want to believe take it start are selling really well so if you want to come and get your tickets what does that mean for your personal Christmas focus you're there from 17th of December to January 4th and here is that a lot of an actor that you work yeah it can be you know if you're doing pantomime which I've done in the past and you're used to just given up your Christmas and I don't particularly enjoy it. I kind of feel like Christmas is for children. And I'm more than happy sort of doing this and giving and giving people some some entertainment over the Christmas period and and it's quite nice in a way it's a good excuse for not not having to go and do family stuff that you know you're having to work but you know it's really lovely as well being in a company Christmas getting a will have nights and brighten and and what better place to be over the Christmas period Yeah sure and the range then of your acting abilities so if you're kind of rising to the challenge in this versus what we saw you do earlier in the year in the house on cold hill proper jumpy moments when I saw it with you and Rita and Worthing Yes yes it's yeah I have the whole the whole range from a to b. . Yeah it's that's that's the great thing as an actor you know you do these all these different kinds of roles and I'm very lucky I get to do telly I get to do theatre and then I get to do the odd musical now and again so it's never gets boring. Yeah that I'm a few very very lucky that suit your skill set as well is that something you. Can possibly comment on my skill set that's for other people to talk about but it's nice to be challenged let me put it that way and I think it's there's nothing worse as an actor. For kind of getting stale doing something like Holby for 4 years it was brilliant and had a lovely time but you get a little bit lazy and it gets a bit too familiar and it was absolutely the reason for leaving and and it's all gone it's all gone according to plan so far message for street contestants who are still in the competition at this stage as they. Go on and their and just enjoy you know what I say to anyone who goes into Strictly you never know when it's art you never know when your time's up I approached every single week as if it was my last week and and I ended up not having a last week end up going until the end but you yeah you never know when it when it's over so just enjoy every minute I can of listen to your partner and you know it's a once in a lifetime experience you've got this world champion given you their their worldly knowledge and yeah just just soak it all up and enjoy it because yeah it's over before it's over far too soon do we see some of the benefits of 3 months or so dance training in this show with Yeah I absolutely hope that you do you know doing something like Strictly you do pick up a few skills on the way so hopefully I've managed to utilize them and Tom Jackson Greaves a Brighton boy and he choreograph and he's come up with some fast fantastic dances so yeah hopefully people will spot some of the strictly skills cake again. That's good and in terms of the story for this some of the scrapes that the characters get into on the way out as evolve imo you know they just they find themselves in these back water a kind of middle of nowhere in history and one particular scene I've been dared by by Felicia to to go to this pub enthrall drag and you can imagine that it doesn't go down too well and there's this little sleepy backwater and because sort of encourage some real kind of homophobia there and and and have to sort of Emraan in a way to get their selves in and you know that starts all too familiar story perhaps in this day and age that you know people aren't as accepting of each other as as they should be you know it's a story of our times in. And the whole sort of transgender story as well as is very timely You know those are still issues that we're dealing with today and I think the show does it beautifully because you know it tells it tells you these person stories without being preachy it does it in an entertaining way and that yeah if you're if you're challenged if you're made to think a little better then then all the better that's I truly believe that's what that's what these are supposed to do and the other thing we should talk about is Jason Donovan and his role in the to kill a show tell us about that he's producing it He's co-producing it with market share and it's lovely having someone like him on board because he knows the show inside out he and he played it for 5 years he did it in Tire and he did on the road and and you know he's been a really encouraging influence and it's always been sort of really yeah yeah I'm really hard man and and yeah you there's no one more kind of more still you know more still human and still it means a lot to get his seal of approval we like to see him in Brighton as well what. He does he pops in 19 again so yeah you meet you may spot him in the audience. A little thrill as well if you head into. The audiences are a bit blown away when they find themselves besides from neighbors. And I knew I was fine throwing to the fat and speaking to me earlier Priscilla Queen of the desert the musical theater Albrighton from this coming Tuesday until Saturday January 4th Ruth to 8 on Twitter says Can't quite well the wait is not too long now is it right . Christmas tips from is a restaurant pitch in the center of Worthing. In this building right over the top what's going on in this lovely room when you come up here. We've got a cookery school when we look to the building and the building to the restaurant really and we thought this would be a great space for people to come together and you know it's really you can tell it's sort of the farmhouse kitchen if you like and it's a great place for people to come in and just eat and drink and cook and we have a real laugh and sometimes we make mistakes and most of time we get some great food on the plate and we'll sit down together and yes I'm a good woman came in for cheese and wine tasting. Very late and really no longer before they gave up on the G.'s. To get. Tips for Christmas so we do what we do in this way so we do so last week we. About gravy which is thought to me with a good gravy it's you know it's the rest of us do it this week is about the main event the blood of the season which is the turkey so just a few things to consider really treat yourself you know make sure you get a good decent Turkey have to get in there early these days because they go off the shelves quickly but if you can get a good free range Dr clubs absolute try but if you go to local farms around doing it and that's fantastic as well as opposed to local farmers and just get itself a real quality but that's the 1st thing before you cook it leave it out for about a full 5 minutes basically you want to it's like when you cook him read me in sight you want almost bring it to sort of a room temperature because what happens is is you don't have to take his own cooking it it's less likely to dry out as well and you get less shrinkage in the shrinkage is where it gets so shocked from. This in all human about do you trust and trust a tug do you tie up or do you know for me it's a good idea to not tie up because what happens is it takes longer for the fires in the legs to cook because it's so close quarters if you let it just out on toss it cooks more evenly in the breast meat doesn't dry out if you have it all tied up the breast meat takes longer to cook a dry truss is probably the way to go season it really well so plenty is so plenty of black pepper Buster under the skin put butter in the cavities all self paced This isn't diet food by the way but this Christmas you're only going to do a once the just plenty of us have plenty of seasoning as well one thing I would invest in if you can is the temperature probe a lot of places now actually do the prob with the turkey which is quite cold 1st of a good high well for the supermarket you want to bring the internal temperature to 70 degrees with a really super duper drive so the fall mechanic then you can bring the temperature to 65 degrees is absolutely wrong. Finally you stuff in if you stuff the Tukey again it can affect the cooking of the turkey as well do you stuff in separately you know I think you just get more even cooking the bad as well what and you had stuffing doesn't really gain much flavor from being inside the turkey doesn't it's more about gimmicks get a nice bit of you know get some cold sausage meat some type of. Bread comes a great some fresh herbs for it possibly you know and again season it well and then the last thing with a turkey which is probably the most important thing is resting and there's If you. Run away. It's too. Every time I guess to. Have it something that separates. Was. And let you love me so as you all might be decorating the house that I had in the season or is it just about right is today the right day to do it with 11 days till Christmas Day Maybe it is for you so as you decorate the house so my preparations for the festive season coming up to be a musical soundtrack that I am with you for another out till May Day then Graham day with.
