Again the road is part of this broken summery photo of the side effect in the 3 northbound it's not the toe of junction on that road again there. Aren't that they're looking at this piece and says the money 2 ways that could've been fine but on public transport. Strikes and that means every 2 service across most of the network missing cleats and I serve as a tool between. The head. Now the Thames and delays of around 10 minutes but they can. This is because it is still in place and also in time 6 have says the Bible not finds itself about 10 minutes after Pope than that with the signal I'm punished the b.b.c. . Made in Sussex pulls us a vase is b.b.c. Sussex with a lesson for. The guts to let. Show us today oh shit. If you say that. It's silly. You got to let me know. Should I say. Go walk me. Exactly. Which clothes fit my. Thank you. Say. You're listening to Allison funds assistant head elf this often in. Ways. You have been getting in touch with better suggestions as to what else now should be this soft new type he's got in touch to say he wanted to go full comfy. With Nicole's to an unfortunate comment made by a guest yesterday. A guest come face I mean you just don't call a comfy do you suppose he meant in a nice. Comfy Elf is not going to baby. My elf now I'm typing and I preferred Nick's Nick says Go big he says Queen Elf which I quite like Oh even better Empress Elf I mean not that I've got a superiority complex by any the superiority elf Now if you're just joining it she might well be thinking why she's talking about elves it's because we are hates die at this Christmas in Horsham because we are volunteering as elves is such a lovely I did they do it every year they do this course so I may do it to raise funds for the potting Foundation and the putting foundation then distribute that money to lots of different charitable projects all individual families as we heard you know from Holly and his family one of the charities I mentioned was the Sussex night stop charity and I'm Police say the director Allison Marino joins me and I think especially this time of year awful to turn to people living on the streets you know well look at you and me here we were just saying how cold it is yeah we've gotten all scarves and we've been next to where he said it's hard to even imagine what it must be like to be sleeping on the streets at this time of year no that's absolutely right I mean I would say it's concerning to see anybody sleeping on the streets so it's just it's not stop essentially we are working with 16 to 25 year old young people. And our work is we much then we fall into is you've got a spare room to offer so hopefully we're getting in a quick before people sleeping experience because another thing to consider is you know the people that you see and the hidden homeless people have a sofa surfing which is really a precarious and risky situation for people. And you know winter is when when it concerns a lot of people. Around. Here around problem isn't it and so the way the charity was and you have volunteers who offer a spare room in their house. Yes Yeah I know. We've got about 30 heist households on our backs at the moment I just think that's incredible Don't you for somebody to give up a room in their house for somebody they don't not yeah I mean even for the tape we we just work with respect for our volunteers and what they're offering. I mean we obviously have a food program around recruitment and support and training and then we continue to support high use when they are in Iraq you could understand that people might be concerned about opening their house to a stranger. Yes I'm some of our hosts did come with voice concerns but usually you know well always by the time they finish training and obviously we you know selection is working by flies so by the time people are trying all of our questions have been answered and we've go very clear boundaries that we observe and hard to keep everybody safe by from us because ultimately it's obviously the people who are staying here incredibly vulnerable as Miles is that they're young so you sort of look at the 16 to 25 year age quick yes we celebrate our 10 year anniversary the CIA We've worked with nearly 400 young people 16 to 25 over that period and they do come with a particular vulnerability. The mage of the biggest reason for homelessness is usually a family relationship breakdown or in fact you know the loss of tendency from private rented or some of a accommodation and they are very young and you know because of structural things in the world around them it makes it more problematic changes whether that changes to welfare reform or the cost of renting has disproportionately impacted on age group so people people fall through the gap. To for. She could be making 2 to the life of of a young person there by by offering that helping hand I think will really jump absolutely So there's a 1st and foremost someone isn't you know sleeping in an unsafe situation whether that's sofa surfing or ministry. But often what people feed back is it's just every ignited sense of hope. And of Often the quite profound effect of someone would do that for someone cares they may know you know you know very a point of crisis and here is just you know I an act of kindness. Yes a very common feedback that they kind of come away with that confidence increased and just a sense actually there are people out there who. Will put themselves out to look out for them and I know you going to be looking for more volunteers in the New Year we also we've got heist training that's happening in February time so with seeking households you know I have a spare room and think that this might be for them so they're welcome to get in touch and we'll you know talk through everything that's involved yeah and take it from there and the putting foundation have been able to give you some funds towards your work Yeah so we're absolutely delighted and really appreciative we've received a 3000 pound grant from the boxing foundation and you know essentially it's us it's not it's not couldn't we couldn't do what we do without the support of our volunteers but many founders and these kind of community based grants such as from the bottom Foundation a really kind of it makes possible what we do and that's why we really wanted to come here to say yes obviously it's about the quote I would see in the little kids' faces when they meet Father Christmas but I think what today really does is it shines a spotlight all on the huge number of volunteer organizations across our area but doing so much and I say all the time but without people doing this stuff you just. Nobody What would happen yeah absolutely I mean we have as we what I did in Brighton high if we have some k. Partner agencies that we and those across sectors so that you know I promise of in the community sector as well as the local authority and you know when that's working while that's really when you get the best outcomes for the young people you're working waves and you know that votes important because it's not the casing of nice stuff is it's it's essentially keeping people safe while so I work on a long time housing plan so I have a 90 percent of young people who study with night stop go on to something that is safe longer that must be so rewarding for you guys to to see that what you're doing was yeah yeah I mean we have a specific contribution in the in the way and the time that we do is important that we are part of a pathway that leads someone to do something that is Mill more stable in the long run and it's not just. A sticking plaster job the quick fix is actually going to help them long tab and Allison Allison Marina from Sussex not stop charity thank you so much will have more from this column sent us throughout the all new and don't forget a little bit later on we're going to be meeting at this group of elderly residents McAbee going to go into the long side little teeny told from a little card with gold we call white. Let's. Get. You. To. Say it. Can. Be a. Few . Weeks. To go. Thanks own copy it's an honor It's 20 past to listening to Allison fans on b.b.c. Sussex and b.b.c. Sorry now you know if you regularly listen to this program we often get all still help out with various things and back in the sama we were contacted by a lovely man called Clive I mean very into law and I was more on that later but he got in touch with this because he wanted to help in recruiting some volunteer elves Yeah I mean it would be done else recruitment before but we were happy to give a guy and I'm place aside because we have such fantastic listeners to b.b.c. Sussex and b.b.c. Sorry we were able to help and I'm here today with some of our listeners as they do their bit as they volunteer as elves costs tooth and all and this is Helen from Littlehampton not what you actually doing at the moment so we are selling tickets to go into a prize draw or to win 1000 pounds worth of Golden Sands about why and what I know is that all of our volunteer elves have been getting to know I want to offer to Diageo making fun while making friends and by pure coincidence is another one to elf who lives right so my doorstep didn't even know each other until to day we never have met before but we know the same area we lived. 2 minutes away from each other it's remarkable this is another one of our wonderful listeners this is Allison with one l. . You are rockin those al-Faisal they are they all real phaseout my mind I can do that specially I have heard that happen before so you've got to be very careful and you enjoying your your day as an elf is everything you thought it would pay never done it before and yet it's great I mean some people and out about yet listen we're so grateful thank you for doing this why did you want to get involved because I heard about the charity and I'd never heard of that charity before and it just sparked something and I was a bit fed up last Tuesday when you were asking people to ring in and I thought you know what I'll give it a go oh I love you thank you so we're going to will this trolling and trying to get people to buy more tickets for they stroll where should we where should we go I'm thinking cap on about us react good Alice Alice and with one L's on the same pages makes an all out more children arriving to see Father Christmas hello and you live on b.b.c. Sussex and b.b.c. Souray How are they feeling about going in to see Santa pretty excited I think we've got a bit of a mixed response I thought this one had lots of very excitable children we've had a few tears some some little ones can get a little bit little bit fearful but I look they look very excited and ready to go. They're looking forward to. Listen I won't keep you off you go and see Father Christmas can you do me a favor could you ask him to bring me something would you do that for May Well you can waltz full for us. From Christmas. For Christmas. Are ready. Racing amazing Well I think he might just do that well listen you go and ask him if he wasn't for me some chocolate please thank you sweet home Bob I have seen lights out I'm going to take the Elves with May I love the fact that you're pushing this trolley have you got an elf name Alison with one l. . I don't need an elf name. We need to come up with one of you got an elf I'm Helen Oh yes Knight I we need to work on that we need to work on that and so we elf trolley it should be a slight You really should it were wheeling it up through the gardens and I'm quite what people are making of 3 adults dressed as elves. Trying to wear literally through the Christmas trees I have no idea oh excuse me so re elves coming through . These poor people trying to trying to choose choose a Christmas tree and they've got a slot behind them and anyway I actually have it of the soul whilst we may call why I'm over to the coffee shop or tell you what before we do the coffee shop I Can we go and look at the artificial trees and the lights was that I'm going to go and find that and all the pull back very say. It was a. Good thing. Google. Gone. It was still glad. You. Found a good. God. It was. A. Good good. Good old Greek god. With. With John it was a good thing. It was. While. You. Look at the size of that one Ellison with one l. Told you reckon that tree is. That one it's got to be about 9 foot 10 foot to 10 sucha this is an idea he was here at the garden since a good many people on the mat side. Only the people have the oldest townhouses effects or you ones you didn't need to tool you'd need a tool seat and whip to put it off to Christmas. I couldn't guess and I love it but that's it I mean it's massive and we're by the altar Fishel trees now there's loads of them all that one folds up with what I bit a fold up and stick it in the loft maybe they don't know I'm also official trees proven to be very popular the shit yes most definitely would probably sell in an average of about 20 it's I maybe. I'm the most popular one. Particular Pfeifer I wouldn't say there's a particular favorite but a lot of people find 7 foot trees this year. 7 foot pre-lit or not look at me I'll call the lingo I'm probably not a lot of people going for the frost a tip. Off out of the frosted tapes all the ones with the pine cones are like something a little bit more traditional I agree our conference additional tree this year very nice and where can I find the Bulls also if you head straight through the Christmas lights you find I am a huge array of different styles are different colors of my car in this way through the lights through the nothing better than a god instead of a Christmas when you get to go through the lighting display hang on have a look can't miss it right around here wow the loss of a lot of lights at the outdoor was Christmas decorations where do we stand on that I quite like the idea of something out the front of the house but war. When I look at it like a 2nd actual train an early dimethyl trying the thing is I worry you get into one upmanship with the neighbors although the acrylics No man is talking to me. Brilliant this whole talk about talk about lowering the tone of the neighborhood like I for the inflatable snow man that would be hilarious imagine that out the front of the house 2 and a half meter inflatable lit snowman 69 pounds 99 in case you were wondering oh now this this is what is what I want this is a this is a jewel stag right with the disco lights imagine if I come I'm with that port. Now I don't know if that's going to work for him or we look at another one there's a jewel a snowman with multicolored discard lights 200 pound guy who thing is put outside your house I would think it would be no no they'd leave it leave it where it is Ok Now where did she say the boy. I've been where I lived in the in the lights are pulled say we go all the way all big bowl was like carry on Christmas Day a massive though. I did say that I would buy the kids a boy age because I had somebody contact the show yes I was really touched by this that they buy a different ornament for their tree every year and that way when they look at their tree each decoration on it holds a story reminds them of a certain place or a certain time I shared a bit of a moment last October in our tree up we came across this beautiful little dolls so why iridescent dove and then I suddenly realized the person who gave that to us no longer with us it's like moments like that isn't it that kind of really really get a Gosh you think of a color there is a bull that matches. I mean there are so many where to begin what do we think Lois would be all I for that with the sequins she'd love a sequins bobble I mean these cliffs as far as the eye can say so you've got a whole section of red and why you've got a whole section of kind of silver or like the blush pink you can get a Cinderella slipper time on tie which is that. How much are much of a look how much is a how much is a possible cost the size what about you can get a little white wine glass baubles cocktail commodity any glass ball pull with glitter incrusted on to it could be here's some time to think we just played songs for the next hour in a hall I could get away with it I'm older sequinned unicorns as well fairies now tell me what do you need I need a new star for the top of a tray the one with the one with come a legal mess is drooping to say the least oh look I found the stars I'm going to browse this whilst we take a quick look at the travelling with a. It's not too bad out there we're told this often in lots of sunshine but don't breed to see it is still pretty chilly looking at highs of 8 degrees Celsius that's $46.00 degrees Fahrenheit overnight staying dry with clisp will put a low cloud and fog in places that when it will turn a cold one degree Celsius the low that $34.00 degrees Fahrenheit as for tomorrow it's looking like it's going to stay largely dry it will be cloudy other than a soft and not as much sunshine and that mist and fall could be slow to clear in places gentle winds again and highs of $45.00 degrees Fahrenheit got 7 degrees Celsius looking further ahead they should be dry with bright spells it will be very breezy the. Wind picking up through the day and then rain will move in from the northwest overnight on that right I'm afraid will linger as we head into Friday. Bernie to say there is a break the lights on the. At the junction of the. 270 I'm afraid as long delays of around 50 minutes for those coming out of this is. A long queue. Because they can place the court itself. Really busy around the I field and. Again that's all down to now t.v. Weather Brack No not. Too it's just been closed in both directions by the horse in this accident. Now. Being affected by. The junction is actually on the. Senses. For the time being. Because of strike action and its means. Into the 28th December. Around 10 minutes. And. That is because of the place and. The 10 minutes between international. Travel updates away 200 to one a full. 6 troubled you trust. Was You have. Yes. Still with the full. Honesty I thought I had a full political until I met Tracy 16 next to me looking at all of the different bulbs I just saw so many weeks it was a full 100 different designs a bowl full no one deal struggling to choose try say the absolute beautiful I've not seen such a great selection before this year this. In a pink way back into them right then paying them the same tree. With us and coloring of a lounge so that's what I mean this year to do a different kind of theme every year you have got different boxes of different groups of colors we've got some sort of browns goes all in G.'s o. Then this additional greens reds golds we did have a house big enough ones to have 23 trees a time. That's just for my decorator needs but I know we've got a small house in the moment so it's just that the different califate I'm going to pay this back to my husband as justification as to why I need to buy new ball bowled we had this we had this I was going to say route and we had a conversation a debate last night about this he was saying but with what you need new people bills he doesn't get it we have one for every year at least and if you've been collecting your whole lot of time and that's too many for one tree that's why you have to cycle around through the different colleges so I'm laughing what you've gone for can we take a look through your trolley like Supermarket Sweep in a golf and said we got here with some very curly tile for this. Isn't quite like simple as well as very over night this is. Green level used to get 90 and we got a giant fairy and a pink and white fairy We have a fetish of course I have to have the stiletto the crystal glass slipper you don't have a crystal So let's say when you trade who are either these days are sweet mouse skiing down the hill and over and over one with a snow scene and some pretty story boards to be quite a job designing ball balls being your job well I think I would actually like to go under his house because I have got enough of a house to decorate satisfy the need so. People who do that I was reading in the paper actually about the rich in the famous paying people thousands of pounds to come and decorate their homes for Christmas yeah I want to great job to get paid for playing with all these receipts Royce Trice a I think you need to think about this for next year are to put the ad in the pipe in January ready for next Christmas. And what else if you go in there with what's this here for the door quite a simple natural one but this here is my cat's Christmas present he's an over dog cat and he said What is it some sort of bed is a bed as it is called Cat cave and it's got like a color of color so the cat can climb into the bowl of a cushion as it were and snugly and hide but I still got a little hole for the heads does that work for you having this beautifully on a Christmas tree and a cat does the cat never knock over we're about to find out because the 1st day that we had a cataclysm Ok sure about that beautiful crystal So let's hope. Well you've just bought my end up having to sleep in the hallway now if he's not really called Cave now he's got a cascade So yeah that would be good oh you've got new fairy lights as well as we had nice on your tree outside my window so I would go for some multicolored flashing lights on that machine if you live locally I'm working down the coast right now and when I will let you continue with your shopping you've inspired me I'm definitely getting me. My poor poser freely up there guy. I was saying area to only I was in that thing you do when you're out you're talking to somebody younger than you in my dilate we literally had a choice of red or gold bulls that was it now 400 different designs tinsel as well let's go bed up and improve it feel self nowadays to so and again if free single color combination you can think of all this gentleman's come say hello how. Can you and I miss Wilmer. Regard that note we're now oh well we'll can I interest you in becoming an elf this afternoon. I don't know. Why do you think about that well I have a song I want to move from. The Internet Well I'll explain listen to the calls I'm dry. Needs to. Go. On so. Hell Larry and I'm still with the bull was about about how going to wrap this section subtle somebody thought I was. Not even kidding you this is Jenny Jenny just just talk us through what happened a moment ago well I've been looking for a Christmas hat that looks like you know because of the jersey and I saw these 2 people in the bobble department myself and Ali with beautiful hats on just like. All your hats around here somewhere so I worked it out I've been hanging around the bobble so long you know we didn't actually buy our hats from him as it's Christmas you can have my elf if you want do you want it when you have my elf come on this is what this is what Christmas is about handing over your wealth so you can aware that Christmas Day I am yes like of this once my husband he called me what is one of these got an equally stupid Jersey as well. So what point is the garden center anything in particular looking for other than elf hats no we've just been to a local places help. My husband's and classic carcinus an empty place near here. And desperate for a cup of coffee so come in for the coffee and then you're home with an elf hat Yeah absolutely all ready for Christmas are you all ready for Christmas everything but then I don't have to because I'm going to my daughter's on Christmas Day and my son's on Boxing Day so I'm going to hear also the sheer salute lease of it. With your elf hat on and have a sheriff take take some sort of putting with me not Christmas pudding but something different and then went on Yes Listen Happy Christmas emphatic you so much for coming up listen is finite it didn't do anything for me although now I've got terrible tear but we can we can work on that take care Jen a lot so laughter and why Ok Ali is now dragging me away from the bulls we must head back to the Christmas grotto because we've got more people visiting us this afternoon and in fact already special the show that we're looking forward to we've got. All the people for. I'm coming to visit Father Christmas today but they're not going to be visiting Father Christmas on their own they are going to be joined by some little children from an a by school feeding is going to be a beautiful moment Don't miss it at that's coming up to 3 o'clock. So that's where he. Gets. A little. Crack and. As they wrap it all. Still Kompany fast recast on the scale of that song Allison fans hey with you till 4 o'clock on b.b.c. Sussex and b.b.c. Sorry and we are live from some to at all raise it Doll post in whole ship and a cool to die is back out see a little kids' faces light up when I meet Father Christmas but today is also Rudy about shining a spotlight on just some of the fantastic community organizations and charities we have hate across Sussex and sorry I am going to find out now about another one of those this is a St Barnabas House Hospice John cabin join may. Tell me a little bit about what you do can you all the God know is that right yes I'm one of the assistant guns and bombs with House and I look after all the girls in the ground say on what they're full time I guess you spend a lot of time in garden centers use my phone price and I spend a little bit of time already walking around here so I managed to have a look at some plants and obviously the sense been revamped so I had a good opportunity to have a look at perspective but to buy for the hospice Yes because the senses of just after the just change so much I mean yes you can get fabulous parts but you can pretty much by it so I think in it even Christmas decorations I was having a look at those Maybe for next year so when it's not good don't get me started on the ball bomb scam and all you had to drag me out it get his grave with Joe tell us a little bit about the work that you do it say about of us House Hospice and so I work in the from raising team on this house a my job in particular is to work with businesses and companies in our area and to try to raise funds for the hospice because I think people will be shocked to know that actually there's not much state funding at all no you say we get 24 percent funding for the hospice but actually our care costs are 7300000 pounds and say you know the funding is quite a shortfall Yeah absolutely at cd say it's all just said you know I work with people in our community we're so so lucky to have such a supportive community and to to help hospice and make sure that we can provide the best care become for patients and their families and we know that you provide amazing care we hey you know a lot on this radio station firsthand from from families about the difference that the organizations like yours might Yeah absolutely and you know we meet some really fantastic people and we get so many people stories and it's so inspiring that you know people raised money in memory and loved ones that they've lost and you know going through that journey with them is really quite amazing actually what Christmas be like at the house and say as a hospice we never claes and say they'll be our patients staying with us in the inpatient. Actually at the hospice say their friends and family are invited to have Christmas dinner at the hospice and there's trees and Christmas trees decorated by volunteers and for people to enjoy and of course that the nurse is out in the community making sure that everyone's nice and comfortable to spend those special Christmas moments with their families and will you get any time off for the Christmas calendar or will you still be out there gardening away also we don't have a garden either the guards are really important for patients and their families have sort of get away time for them even in the winter it's nice to walk around and just experience the different areas of a gun gardens and just a different atmosphere and we've got a few volunteers in as well between Christmas and New Year who always help to maintain the gardens at a very high standard so yeah we'll be wonderful it will be very Christmassy and we just like to have that nice atmosphere for family friends and the children will be visiting I would imagine so yeah it's very important time and again volunteers that's the thing that keeps coming up again and again today what would we do without the army of volunteers we have in this country I mean I have a group of 12 volunteers who give up their time every week rain or shine they're there and they helped out we opened our National Guard scheme 1st time this year so we had lots of volunteers come experience that with us so it's a 1st time which is modest a lot of people came along to the girl answered never been in a hospice environment and we're really interested to see what it looked like going to open again next year so we've got going on the 12th of September and the 20 September so that we end in jest but do an online so people come along have a cup of tea pay a little donation have a cup of tea in a large piece of cake and enjoy and always got Coach I love that large piece of cake yeah it's important it's important just what did people make of the hospice because he said people were quite interested about what it might be like and I think people might have an idea rightly or wrongly about what a hospice is like were they surprised by it. By what they experience I think they were surprised around open spaces and we've got different areas to call your girl we've gone well we've got a palm and 5 areas for the patients and their families and I think they were very surprised at how big the actual ground and bonnet was House and also all the different planting and the tranquility and the peacefulness we just get away and also we have the patients can come out of the rooms all the patio doors open up on to the girls in the private spaces and if they are unable to come out sort of ideas they can come out in their beds and enjoy the sunshine so I think people one maze about all the different facilities we have there not only in the hospice itself which is amazing but also in the grounds. And if people want to find out more and they can visit our Web site I'm w w w dot s t b h dot org dot u.k.
