Is Up all night with me Richard Foster is just coming up to 5 past 3 right in the middle of the film phone in here with Lisa Johnson Mendell film critic and Phil expert from the USA We're talking all things blockbusters summer blockbusters What's your favorite blockbuster moment you can call us at 590-9693 Texas 185058 you can e-mail up all night B.B.C. Don't kowtow U.K. Good old reaction from folks tonight so well it's really it's a great pleasure to talk to you and it's a great pleasure to speak to live in Buckinghamshire Hi there Liz get a pen How you doing your right John Kerry very well thanks very well now this is a bona fide summer blockbuster tell us about your film. Career Affleck part oh yes oh holy in 993. I mean let's be honest anything that's got the name Spielberg attached to it is going to be worth a watch yes there are a few names out there that are a given. Spielberg Hughes. Because. Cameron Cameron Yeah. Burton for me as well actually. Jersey park was amazing because the effort that went into this and the work they did because it was you know they got a source for this rather than you know with everybody jumping on the C.G.I. Bandwagon and there's only 16 minutes of dinosaurs in the whole film but yet they still managed to make it sorry believable and the effect was amazing and even. More Years later on than I care to think about where we are now it still stands I think I saw the film where they just went with this A.T.L. I. Know how much C.G.I. Was actually used to interesting part you know. I did neither. I confess I can remember stuff in my head that I was sayings like. When when they're stampeding that C.G.I. When you have that bit where they get their 1st glimpse of the Stop the jeep and you have the very iconic scene of some nails like in his glasses off and displaced with the herd ambling by that for the C.G.I. But the Raptors were men in suits they built the T.-Rex. Actually nearly killed somebody during filming Wow. Was an animatronic a dinosaur with the skin over the top of it and that bit where they're filming the sane in the right lane. When when she's this guy and is penned in the jeep with the kids and. They were filming but you know there are filming that in the rain and electronics some water aren't really go out well they go. And they got a sore kept kind of like malfunctioning a bit so they had to keep working on it and you know some of the memoirs of the actors are saying you know when you're somewhere filming on location it's dark and the gigantic robotic a dinosaur suddenly moved while it switched off. Was kind of terrifying and the way that they had to fix it was this one guy would climb into. The dinosaur in between the skin and the animatronics to repair a bit and it was just. Done. And moved randomly like I had been doing because of getting wet then yeah that would have been the end of that technician that would you seem to know and an enormous amount about the film is every been studying it did you work on it. I have. Quite a. Prosthetic off. I like doing prosthetics and stage my cat and. I actually. Do charity costuming as a hobby and predominately dress up in Star Wars gear. So it's all sort of packed on layer but Jurassic Park made a big impact on me because I was a kid when that came out and my mom knew I liked dinosaurs so I was like hey let's go see a dinosaur movie. Was. In your life it never been the same since Not quite but you see I I like the effects and things but I like the real effects like the animatronics I like the puppet I was thrilled and lost yet I when the Yoda puppet came back opposed to some Yoda. I love the Harryhausen movies I just I really like that kind of thing and so when there's documentaries and whatever else about sex and that kind of thing yeah Jurassic Park was a big deal for what it was because it was at that point where people were turning more towards C.G.I. Because they could pay a group of guys on computer so do something a fraction of what it would cost to build things. But they wanted that real ism which you weren't going to get and even now I still you know they've done amazing things with C.G.I. . But I just like there to be that little something that could difference to the nugget of of realism Yeah absolutely Lisa Lisa I think we can all remember call we where we were when we 1st saw Jurassic Park because I can see I can certainly and I was I was blown away as lives I mean I just everybody was oh me too and I remember after that everything you know going to see it and then if you ever went to a movie in the theater next to it the dinosaurs pounding the walking it would shake if you had a cup you know it would shake it you could hear the walls and I had great through that oh. Yeah you always a drastic part playing that they are right next door to this. And it became didn't you know you have certain films which define certain. Arenas certain certain facets of a film and I can think of 2 for special effects in Jurassic Park is one of them the other one I think would be sort of Terminator 2 where you kind of way you look at those those 2 films took groundbreaking special effects and push them further you get that kind of thing where you know that that's an epoch moments in Hollywood history and everything after that is going to be based upon that because you get you got loads of films afterwards in the couple of years afterwards and it was when I went Yeah well OK the effects were but it wasn't as good as drastic POG What do you think this. I mean you are now and I think also what you're saying to you is a good example. It can't just be the effects or just be the film you know the score has a huge you know that you're a part for those themes in the quarter was that John Williams as well yes yes that was also Terminator 2 with. That. It's only about 3 nights ago some of my production with that enterprise yes having the guns and I was. That was just. It was amazing it worked wonderfully and it's saying about names that are if you know if you see something that's been. Composed by John Williams And again you know it's going to be amazing. For me also Danny Elfman Oh I love his scores. Anything I mean seriously anything that he does and I think it's a bit like how you can spot him Burton film if you didn't know it was a temper in film because there is like an excessive amount of black and white visual in there somewhere. I think Danny Elfman music is so unique that it's again it's something you can spot without having to then go oh I wonder who did that that's true Liz I'm wondering what do you think a bit of the modern drastic part will be so when you're coming out today with Chris Pratt how do you how do you feel about those. Well Blue is by far my favorite character. Is credit. And I'm happy that they moved forward in time rather than rebooting because I have a personal helped everybody. Rebooting and making things as live action instead I just think it's really life a site is near annoying me at the moment. But I like that I got a mess. Way far enough past the spoiler alert to talk about the last Muskingum how many how long ago was it since when that since it was out I think it's out on D.V.D. Now back if you haven't seen the last kingdom then you know that I can really be a writer likely I'm going to find out how to quickly go ahead go with your spoiler guide. My bicycle at the 3 hour Island got destroyed I hate that because that that same was. I mean my cinematographer a guy wouldn't go destroyed know. I kind of. Ruined it for me now that sane when they're on the thigh and you've got that ash cloud that's coming down and you just see the it's back lit by the red and the flames and you've got the silhouette of the dinosaurs. Yes Martin Luther King is building that is stunning that is a really breathtaking saying it's just a shame that you know they killed the dinosaurs off I mean and I definitely struck that balance between making the people the bad guys and making you really happy that all the people about all of them things were getting their comeuppance in the words of Lisa Simpson that were monsters on that ship and truly we with them . Not kind of saying. They did that very very well and as I said the the visuals and I think Chris Pratt is I think he's a really good actor. I'll be curious to see what more comes from him because he just seems to go from strength to strength Yeah we we do love him the Guardians Of The Galaxy Oh you gotta love Star Wars. But you can look out for the all the little Easter eggs of eighty's all from the oh yeah that's got a fun soundtrack too so lose it it's Jurassic Park for you and have there been any since you know the modern sort of comic book characters or comic book franchises that have come anywhere close I love what Marvel have been doing for the last decade I related. They have really taken the time to. Layer the stories and with the Avenger maybe even the spinoff and so on I mean I'm . Still waiting for a black widow I may vary. Well it's to come soon they've been saying that for a long time yeah. I would love to see a hawk I'm a very. I mean they took a lot of artistic liberty with Hawkeye. Over the comic book character and he is one of my all time favorite color characters but Jeremy Renner is done just such an awesome job of summing up his sarcasm that it would be nice to say that and I think he ready had some serious character development in Endgame and I think it would be a good thing but. I'm not a fan of what they say I've been doing so I think that's worked out as well and I'm with you on it's another Batman another Batman another Batman and we've taken the story line in so many different directions it doesn't fly Yeah I think I mean I. Think that man Captain America was like 19. Bodies out of place just came out the very 1st well yeah. The comics in 5 months think that my most until the sixty's was tough in my head but so it's something that's been there for a long time but. I just I don't I read that I thought the Dark Knight ones were so far removed from the classic feel Batman or so I don't like the Christopher Nolan directed Batman Christian bio of Batman is just you know so much you know. Sort of dark and brooding. But brief line was supposed to be that he was supposed to be that dark and brooding behind closed doors but the kind of semi mysterious so intricate Playboy the other side of that it's like I think my Michael Keaton managed that side of it really well whereas like Val Kilmer did a brooding side of it really well. I'm I was very pleasantly surprised with that flak I think. Saying you don't like writing a good job but I just felt that was I mean you know there comics but it's supposed to be nor is supposed to be gravy it's supposed to be a believable because we've done have guys in rubber bat suits running around calling up criminals and driving things that go underwater and then fly it's supposed to be a bit out there and I think that with the with The Dark Knight series they tried to take it. Seriously and make it too realistic and it just seemed like they were almost channeling a whole bunch of balls into it I felt more like Morgan Freeman it was Morgan Freeman character was a lot more like Q. Involved here we've got this whole funky things we made for you and all that sort of it just didn't fly when I threw in that little bit at the end with Harvey Dent when he gets his myself melted. I'm sorry to hear another part yeah. But it just it was like they were going too far for hey look what we can do with the special effects and look how gruesome the says rather than going with the character. And I just think if you want to go that way then you need to make an original movie and not take supplement is a well established character Liz you've been great thank you very much indeed for your call we now we now know far more than we did about dressing park because seems to have been sort of technical director or assistant to the tactical to actually something like that and we know more about the puppets we know more about the dangers on set we know we know everything and then the thesis on what makes a great blockbuster that's a great call Thank you very much and they've talked to us here on up all night that's Liz in Buckinghamshire who called it 5909693 we're talking summer blockbusters What's your best blockbuster moment we're going to be chatting about this tell about 4 o'clock with Lisa Johnson Mendell from the US film expert film critic all things films she's a woman A.J. In Soho Hello there A.J. . Hello who are you know you've got a story about Star Wars tell us mall. Is back in 1977 and is the last time a family went out as a group to parents of 4 children and watch all the you know a great knowledge of films or anything else went up to the can turn to cheese to see the special OK. And we went to cinnamon on the trail whatever it was Alysha and it was close encounters of the kind OK. We watched 3 quarters of Chris in Kansas before we realized we're in the wrong film . And we'll strike stance when had cinema number one and went to see Star was OK. To come 20 years before so close and chances and because all it would seem to was a point to which he was building the mass to Titus clad mountain. And we didn't actually see it and we never saw the spaceship in that one so we never saw the music or the spaceship or rising or anything else and then it sort of 20 S. Been so stonewalls into such So one frequent films I think the books from the film we were able to give him by now the ticket we were able to sneak into the screen you should have been initially. We had bottle to spawn a touch it would be ninja one inside then we went into the other and we were lucky . He was on the key to this was in bloom a swimmer in Illinois and the cinema that had gold seats in the middle it was a sort of premium seats and they were the only ones left he had to tie 6 premium seats I say rules money. When will do you prefer after after all this time oh star was spotted. In class in Kansas again the John Williams school. A fantastic but it takes a long time to get to the point at which you see the spaceships and what it was the result of nothing yet to be more adult see that and understand where is is kids thinking this is where it was all the firing the lasers everything that we seeing should have been held. But the 2nd one was. The spiral of the oh yes. Always does the James Bond at the cinema. And the the applause from the cinema when the union flag comes out from the parachute and the things they need and he skis off the cliff and the parachute opens and it seems like and that was James Bond. Not me at all in the moment but. It was it was a bond that had you know the latest 3 that went on the water and all that as a Bond film the key chase and then skiing off the cliff Union Flag in easy that was a blockbuster my man and there is were the 2 films that got me into films in the ring of the 2000 D.V.D.'s. And I love those owners but my favorite film of all time has to be a snake an old lice Oh my goodness I've never seen that I'm going to I feel lean back while you guys have a chat about I'll snake an old like. It was only the Boris Karloff couldn't actually playing it because he was committed to. The ourselves and he they wanted burst out of that they had the most amazing Boris Karloff lookalike. In the film and it is based on a stage play a soft. Landing. Cary Grant Carey drums of course. And if you haven't seen it is basically is to hold on this strange is VERY have bodies in the house than in the cellar. And the postman in the window seat. 944 I'm seeing it. Amazing. That soon possibly trying out some current acts yes another Yahoo the huge yawning gap see my film the Internet of the one turn every other Internet says is Alec Guinness played a trolls. The youngest of this family had inherited and it was based on. The old system of the oldest shall join the army the next one children the chance the next will be whatever the narrative Axel be the next one and so on. The last one being the youngest of the family would have nothing. Ole Texas including the lady Duchess and all of this when a did one by one by the youngest so he would eventually inherit. And the bookies and the film is based on him writing this book about what he did because he's in jail. Sitting in jail and it's possible. And he is a friend innocent who has a bad innocent but when he realizes the jail those close behind him is he left his memoir on the desk in the jail behind of confessing to. What you think the whole me says that was that when you if I was all well that that was that was back from 149 and you know I said considerably you know considerably later so I would I would go several 100 how many steps they did yeah yeah yeah I was going to say I you know found that. You know many of my family. It's definitely a black and white classic and it's it's yeah it's a very memorable film. But classics are. Limited to about the lady who's going to talk to him but he's in the black and white as parts of the film city is sometimes it can really work is showing that this is. What she has characters as opposed to the Tele you get in the California mansion nation. And either by to speak on life and you have the mad uncle coming down and his you know it's a khaki uniform with the I'm going to trumpet you know it's controversial that's what being you know he's wearing talking this will somehow bring his trumpet need to invent a variant of the body. A.J. What do you think what do you think of what you think of. Latest blockbusters the cover of blow buses do you do you see any of those Oh yes absolutely out of all of the Monell comics of. I actually have the original comics Oh OK. I have. Actually have something like a loon for 500 comics something in the region maybe a 1000. And I actually have a number on Batman. I have the complete goal of the series for. The endgame of the ginning and so I actually have the full story of the. Stone age in the comics I have the full series do you think that the D.C. The films the latest films you think they. Are respectful enough of the commies and if they reflect them well enough but I think they journey changeovers it actually teaches when you think that a comic is. Too tragic no Isaak. Guys made a fool of the efforts of some of the some of the stories on the go the series was a series of what 5. 9 comics across. It was spread across Captain America The Infinity goes that series was spread offense so they didn't really die. Which I think is talks again which is a fantastic full. Price. On. The one character which has always been one of my favorite characters will time. The solicitor. I did the 2nd sentence I think all full all full. And then they brought in you know actors smoke billowing things planets when he sang Chile in. A shape of a supreme being and. The. One was powerful. Characters in comics I think they were in the on the used and under age because. He was an equal character in the language and people it's averaged. I think he's being completely and he used. Should have. A film and stuff but I think of rule bridge dinners out. Absolute genius. I think. The time to Jing it in I don't have a can replace from an. Employer that. Was a character would attack the need to generate he was personified 20 stunt. Man being the 1st one of those is actually starting to see the return of the book best the film I say. That always the one big blockbuster I suppose. Must have done it and produced the best of threat the ending. You have to have I think probably little rings. That they were telling and they they were kind of handsome. Peter Jackson with the rings and all that again respectful to the books she could. A.J. Inside the hole thank you very much indeed for your call he's been talking blockbusters got all confused went in and saw the space film which ended up being close encounters of the 3rd kind he saw 3 quarters of that and then went into the other set about to watch Star Wars which is what they initially planned to watch all along we gots a nice little potted history there of his film history I.J. Says Stansted and Luton have the most expensive initial charge at 4 pounds for 10 minutes and 30 minutes respectively Don has the sports markets Rushford scored twice as Manchester United made the perfect start to the Premier League season inflicting a 4 nail defeat on Frank Lampard in his 1st match of charge of Chelsea boss are they going to solve says the squad morale is high team spirit has been fantastic and we started 1st of July with an aim to get this my. Maybe players fit a little for this game even the ones who weren't on the bench celebrate it with everyone here so it's it's a good squad feeling well as Captain Conoco to hit out at V.A.R. After his side were denied a goal in the nil nil troll at Leicester the visitors' midfield early and then don't curse so his 2nd half ethic ruled out after initial had a struck his teammate Willie barley on the arm Steve Bruce was left to ruin a single mistake as asshole condemned him to a one nil defeat in his 1st game in charge is Newcastle head coach but he's still confident for the season ahead we've only been here 3 and a half weeks you know in 4 players arrived in the last week or so so we've brought some very very good players in the sisterhood now find a system get them up and real and get them used to the Premier League's about because make no mistake it's different to any other leader played him before so we hope that will get them up and run and but certainly in the in the talent the court then I'm quietly positive that will be a threat to anybody it was a good day for Jermain Defoe his hat trick rounded off by jubilant wait for ranges as they mold 10 man hit Bernie and $61.00 at Iraq's Samir and beat Aberdeen one nil England have denied Wales top spot in the world rugby rankings following a 3319 win in their opening World Cup woman match watched at Twickenham by a rugby union correspondent Christians given England's difficult build up this was a highly encouraging performance from an unfamiliar side as a scruffy Wales missed out on the chance to top the world rankings physical throughout especially the start of both Hobbs and I'm a good value for the win really hard spend a solid debut at scrum half with over security of place shortly after half time while the other day bits on and flank Lewis Lockyer was excellent as he makes a late play to make tomorrow's World Cup squad especially with Tom Curry suffering a shoulder injury while should get much better but warningly grandslam fly half guard and skipper left Twickenham on crutches the perils of these warm up games laid bare Richard Kilty won the men's 200 meters at the European athletics team championships whilst. Respectively and will salute the champion just Trump put on a commanding before missed a beat Sean Murphy 10 frames to 3 in the International Championship final in China like the schools in your losses last test. I would say contributes all with Lisa Johnson Mandela Lisa we're talking blockbusters just remind us of your show what's your current favorite blockbuster at the moment well I don't know if it's it's has really reached blockbuster status yet but I'm thinkin Once upon a time in Hollywood is my favorite that my favorite one of the summer that I think would have to be between and then years end game and Toy Story for it was a TOY STORY FOR haven't seen. But I'm thinking about that one more than any other because I've seen all the other 3 and that sort of attracts me to it what was it about Toy Story for you particularly liked it so delightful I do not know how they can make the forst in a franchise the 4th edition a franchise still fresh and new and powerful and emotional and while it's sort of old fashioned emotion it's also very timely I mean they have a have a new toy in town his name is 40 and he's a sport with pipe cleaners and googly eyes that the child has concocted I mean that's really funny. And his character is just so amusing Yeah I I afford 4 times in a row for hits and I have to admit I cried several times during that movie any movie they can make me cry is a winner in my bio very moving on that wonderfully moving lovely films Toy Story quadrilogy is it now is a supposed the modern blockbuster let's go a little bit further back in time and talk to David in Hitchin Hi there David I know you both know you very well thanks thanks Cindi for calling land of the pharaohs you want to discuss Yeah Jack Hawkins and Joan Collins with his wife and I yeah yeah I think so if you seem to. Be seeing this film you see one of the 1st I have you know this one I'm not at all familiar with David you'll the expert go ahead Oh it was in 1000 fish Asia regime in this which is Bill because Jack Hawkins and such bill just like British light. And it was just if you imagine at that point I was probably in reasonable 7 or 8 years old it was totally believable at that point in life and. Really had an effect only more than any other film not seen Dambusters and it was no Same with a project poured over the cast iron overstrong way were you know. Stable. And many others and reach for the sky and all those wonderful films we've seen of the cinema all although a lot of them join a 950 S. But this one was particularly interesting because Jack Hawkins was the sailor. It was a say it was John Collins and it was heaven is he watched from where I lived the palace. Being completed. And Shia languished for something to happen somebody came in and sanction. And he got. Killed I think as it was with the souls on the correctly he didn't die immediately. To have an organ mix that was not a film he entre by his Anyway he died. But he knew that she was present everything she should be as a queen and. The priest an icon of a priest was we had one of those faces that they would have been somebody would always been. Played upon in a film where they would have been Egyptian because he had the features of somebody he would only go to mass a thing they were Egyptian You know you understand all saying yes I know I know you made on the lines in but he was in the other films if I could have a member the night of the show but things being that they went to the funeral service or whatever you might refer to in those days and it was finished off inside the pyramid and the. The period was built so that nobody could get in it had a specific design that would block off all of the possible entrances I'll explain in a 2nd but. It was junk honest thinking that said now our goal of Egypt myself and I'm going to war unlike. And the also the the words are spoken over over this arc of custom such the. The trace traced crazy order and the rope was caught and a new stone say about the heart of a man and in a cube the whole thing was it was the height the way the depths of a man you know when I went sliding down an angled. Tunnel on its way down they were part. Having a free. Zone where coming out and it will bow and as I went past to smash them all insane started pouring out Alarie stones elsewhere in the pyramid to be moved and eventually in a space you had kept hearing above the sliding in a bump and sliding in a bump and each time it meant that one of the. Entrances or tunnels was being permanently blocked off because you know the design and it was just such an amazing fulfillment of the film that it ended in that way and coast. To come in because a long time ago but they define a part was with the last light of a candle whatever it might be. Went out. And she was screaming of course. You know Sam outside it was it was a really good day had an effect on me eerie sound theory yes it was totally believable but it was not about my older brother with me and not just him in everything and it was because when I went to see things like the Dambusters. And. Another one it was my life as the. As a battle of Britain. Now we go about C.G.I. There were scenes and we saw the bombers coming out over and it was absolutely obvious that it was the same picture about 10 bombers on the screen about 10 times yeah. You know a shot really and yes you know no no I mean in the same picture yeah OK so in natural science trying to be like 10 of these. Pictures of. A lighter with your coat I say yes I'm fine you could actually see because they didn't use C.G.I. And they use whatever was available in the same thing 63 foreign It was the least one occasionally to see wasn't a real airplane it was actually a very large boat who would. What would your model airplanes fly. I think that she had something to move this because when you say she looked and say what was happening and see if we could actually pick out where little things were happening that we could save and it actually made it more interesting and more exciting in some ways when we actually changed that and that was better than the modern equivalent of C.G.I. And it just seems I mean isn't easy but it seems now so we need to get those spectacular images up on the screen I think is just another facet that if people instead of complaining as something we tend to do this wasn't good enough and wasn't anything can actually get a step back and say the question living in the real world where you can't beat it was one actually enjoys the fact that sometimes things aren't quite as they should . Then they can be actually modeless it really can and you know. Whereas you take them basters now because it was all night shots it all it was almost impossible to say that they were the models being used. Yeah absolutely here it's certainly it's certainly moved on since the. Under the fair was $955.00 I'm looking at it now Joan Collins is only $22.00 when she was in it. The budget budget is estimated at $2900000.00 and made to. TIME But it only but it only made 2700000 back which we which actually you know is still very small about money for the time but yes it did and it did not make a profit or so it seems. Yeah well you know what I saw. Because of never. And the only letdown in that was obviously the really the most carriages at the guns were on when they fell out of the actually in Iraq price and I was any point where you could say that they weren't real Yeah everything else in that film was actually spot on now what Anthony Quinn or the other one and require Guns of Navarone a look that one up as. A great pack Gregory Peck Yes Gregory. I thought quiet O'Quinn was in it. Man look something up on the Internet a Gregory Peck they had never yet Gregory Gregory Peck Anthony Quinn and David Niven role in the Catholic a radio show choir was the other one and. Anthony Quayle was in it as well. He was Major He was also another one. Was called in Alex was Nick Leeson you know one you know one. I don't know if. You know this was when he can acquire was pertaining to the ducks when in fact he was a German German plant. And one of the end now who is talking about that that the guy who. Or the closer who did. Bridge Over the River Kwai Guinness says it again history was in it and he when he reported when they got to work that. Thing was to book anyway he reported to the entries that he had a spy type of thing with N.B.C. That he had himself over so you know. And they were drinking Heineken and that you actually see that and they wouldn't let the employees take and make while until he junkies Heineken because they don't respect him and all those sourcing and you know if anyone was saying now little. Beads of. Condensation going down the glasses. We're in the last few clips of the film you know and they're just wonderful memories I was one of them come out with they are press alternatives all the C.G.I. And wonderful animatronics maybe. This was something join them for what they are perfectly well heeled perfectly homemaking then. David thank you very much and if you call David in Hitchin they're calling us on the film phone in here on a pole Nigel 5 Live the numbers I tell 85909693 now we're talking blockbusters What's your best blockbuster moment David there with a sort of alternative twist on it you know looking ahead to looking back in fact the films of the 1950s compared to the sort of C.G.I. Films of today which may or may not become classics Peter in Tower Hamlets in London has another classic on his own his mind what's the film Peter. Terry Madonna. It was the most I'm Jewish to my. Motion. Every college thank. You. Tom Hanks was a choice I spoke coach and it was 2 in a shack and will or. Will have a woman. In it we when we offer them an if we think you know that. I haven't. Lisi or yes you know it's considered one of the all time greatest sports film should Whatever been made when it comes on is where it is brilliant and . If it's just go and can it and I don't want to look up where it was only kiss goodnight even. To remember that. Yes yes yes yeah I have a friend she was a mask and she didn't know she had injured. A Member when she got a man we've backed she found she worked for the government is in the shade and. We will check some region as well to code her Long Kiss Goodnight general direction and. To remember that unless you're a Gina Davis fan. That wonders where we're going to split nest in order to do it because I knew she was dead you know what she was she was married aswell I thought he married and I think she got on the can of it and I. Think you know she was an issue for the government or some think. Under Rated film I think. That one's very compelling it sticks with you another quick one a lot to change some old films yeah. You know those are those all sort of they're much more modern blockbusters on release of the. Supremacy of the Baron bridges where it's free for what is for in total Yeah there were initially 3 and then they made a 4th war much more recently like about 2 or 3 years ago thing is it's you know seen I watch illegal we're on its. Own go look that one up is I want on the and that's a feel good which is that one of the streaming services will have to get the D.V.D. Thing sometime I think for you to do something. You know if they respond yes you do your duty for a more pop back and get on catch up on yesterday and to tell you the full Well maybe being a master these are the films you've seen in the last 2 days you thought yeah. PETER That's great thanks very much today for your call Peter in Tower Hamlets there we're talking or talking blockbusters What's your favorite blockbuster moment because we're basically the middle of the blockbuster season here in the middle of the summer the blockbusters are out as Lisa will say well we've now got to wait until Christmas until November ation till any more sort of massive films come along but it is the season of the blockbusters so what's your favorite blockbuster moment in callers on the way to wait 59 or 9693 texts 185058 you can email up all night at B.B.C. Don't kowtow U.K. Quite a lot of people are mentioning inception for special effects as well. Yes that's very very good it's a while since I saw that and it's another one of go on D.V.D. I've got lots of D.V.D.'s at home which sits in the cupboard unfortunately on watch because I have a 2 year old child and he plays it so I say he places great demands on my time. So yes but I'll get around to watching it one day and another one is coming here Janice in Wales is texted right 50581 of the 1st block but blockbuster film she remembers seeing was the towering inferno which is just when you think about it it's what it's a bona fide a disaster classic isn't it. Oh yes and that's yeah that tipped off the whole a whole slew of disaster films that's what that's what I remember sitting at the drive in is well OK how is it $174.00 Yeah what's the atmosphere like at a driving because I don't know if people are listening who haven't been to see a film at a cinema in America and they used to British audiences who were very very quiet and they just sort of very respectful American audiences it's a completely different ballgame you know they'll laugh they'll cheer them applaud they'll stand up all this kind of stuff is a very different atmosphere to U.K. Cinema but do you get that kind of atmosphere at a drive in movie as well well in a drive in movie it's completely different because the speakers are always really bad yes you know some of them are broken and there's just one teeny speaker so there's no Dolby cell. And as he said tonight that's a really key facets of the the experience isn't it oh yes oh yes and so but that's that's you know you go to the drive in more for the socialization or if you're there on a date you're there because you're in a place to park in a dark Carnally you know you're just going to see the film. Who cares what picture you see is a song. Says let's talk to John in Aberdeen Hello there John Howard Hi Oh I thought you'd like to talk about Lawrence of Arabia. Do you a couple weeks ago I bet it was it was very it was. Sequenced you know I talked to you about what you think I was Phyllida tell us but Tom Hanks but Mary I'm going to talk to you very ordered for the review which would classify as a baseball star because it made $70000000.00 that's big enough money for the time certainly $156.00 falsifies us about that Russ look at the recent December of $9068.00 but I mean it was directed by David Lean he was probably the. A lot just bought the director. And the stars appear not to thank him enough Alec Guinness sported a lost a maverick the lady killers they cannot name for a normal sheriff now. Like the lawns of a Navy I have over mental names a lot in Spain when I went to see the film I was quite young but I was going through a phase of reading about travel trouble bigs and I was particularly rested about. And whose the should and and also they're not compose out of was benjamin burton wow that's of that now that as a day as a a roster of measles oh yeah man well when you're thinking that if thinking about affix come befits that i'd to by david lean and i make 7 a $1000000.00 but not going to high are you know on noon composer over so there they pick feel really good ones well that we've been we've been discussing blockbuster a moment gelb's yes so if you had to pick a moment from lawrence of the arabia what would have billy exactly what eyes but i'm a an extra old jest well up pedophiles assists a notch lee that all all rock and arabia note just sort all before war Are and there's a scene and the film. Called Wadia Rama. Has made all the Devore hopefully when they filmed that they couldn't go 30 Arabia but they went they went to Jordan OK so for the film. So we were kind of the king of maybe our holy father was. A nomad and black pants and the party around and I thought. That's one of the places I know what I would if you say something because of they have 8 times the cross force so I mean that's the core of the contact each of. The women you know and Arabia when they want to gain money they basically if I paid a lot and the tongue. And that's the.
