Taking cannabis for medical reason should be made legal according to a cross party group of u.k. Into a very strong position earlier in the day. For 229 with Khrushchev making 58. 46 remop at the. But Darwell only destroyed Lincecum Sussex except to change off to new proposals which redefined the constituencies of some key M.P.'s today the Boundaries Commission announced proposals for nationwide changes to M.P.'s constituencies West Sussex largely escaped on skates but in East Sussex s big alterations New Haven for example could be taken out of the Lewis constituency and lumped in with Brighton not all are happy Steve Saunders is the mayor of New Haven not happy it's all about are you dreaming or anything in common with. Its. Marketing her new quick look at the Boundary Commission recommendations on the order and Carolina Department not our thank our would suggest to you that the majority of the people in your heart when there was are a majority were not ready for anything in common with the age. When I speak now to our political reporter Ben vi so we didn't lose any seats in Sussex band he's a much changed told there's a fair amount of change and you're right we. We haven't lost any of our M.P.'s in other parts the country have done Kent for instance has lost one of its M.P.'s depending on where you look as he said to West Sussex you know there's a bit of a that they've swapped their villages around slightly So for instance if you live in Bowl ne you'll no longer be in mid Sussex you'd be in in the Arran the Arran constituency the Arundel and South Downs. But there are there's a major change going on in Brighton Hove for instance so if Peter calls home constituency encroaches to take in the pavilion goes all the way up to the Brighton pier becoming high even central Brighton Simon Kirby as we've just heard where his camp town constituency becomes a state Brighton and New Haven going all the way along that stretch of coastline and carried on Lucas is brought in pavilion as we hear she loses the very privilege and that gives her constituency is name that her constituency becomes something called Brighton north which doesn't have any access to the sea a tall perhaps the biggest change actually comes for Wheeldon so we'll don't get split up and you know regurgitation a very strange way Maria Corfield constituency takes up failed. Most of the wheels in the city and extends eastward so knows Garny the current m.p. For Wheeldon would be sitting in the highly wheeled constituency which goes as far as Kent who the winners and losers in this and bang it's good question because there are winners and losers even in those constituencies that didn't change so for example Amber wrote in Hastings may well have been hoping that one or 2 villages in the surrounding area might have been added to her constituency because those villages tend to vote Tory people in the town of Hastings tend to be more likely to vote Labor say a few more villages going her way may well have made her job a little bit easier next time around but the real people who may be really watching their backs Caroline Lucas saw her constituency the moment is a battleground between Labor and the Greens by getting rid of that central area of Brighton and giving her places like Wooding Dane. It's turned her constituency into a battle with the Tories It's not about what she's fought before but we'll see if she can fight it record field is a winner we. Lewis and field constituency as it would be has lost a very live dam heavy area in New Haven and would gain a massively Tory area of upfield and turning what have been the Lib Dems battleground into a safe to a receipt this is really interesting because it could affect who gets selected where why else to say any of this matter absolutely I mean to many people listening this could feel a bit like when they really brand the game Risk it's no longer called Manchuria it's called something else academically quite interesting does it matter to us very good question it does matter to us for those of us who are M.P.'s or politicians I mean just as Marie Corfield had a lovely time of it if field does get added to her constituency bad news for Lib Dems in Louis who will find that seat almost well very very difficult let's say to win but for the rest of us it matters in the sense that it affects who are m.p. Eighty's. While all M.P.'s work very very hard I guess what we're hearing from from Steve soon is there in that clip from the mayor of New Haven was the sense that our constituencies are more than just random blobs of the country that happen to have the same number of people in the way they gain the kind of identity and there's only one m. Paper constituency in our system and those M.P.'s campaign on the issues that matter to their constituents the idea is that the constituents of a voice there are concerns that matter to most if not all of the constituents in a particular area and what states soon does is saying when he says that New Haven has nothing in common with Brighton is a bit more than just nimby is a bit more than just oh we don't like those city dwellers to the west of us it's really a kind of the issues that matter to us here in New Haven aren't the same as the issues that matter to those in Brighton now it must be said to be on. Based Steve Saunders And many Lib Dems in New Haven have been saying exactly the same thing about the people of Louis so I would be valuable to change what you say to the one that one caveat they say these are all proposals and proposals I only they have to go through consultation they have to go through votes in both houses of parliament they're far from setting is dying Ben thank you Really interesting stuff there other news today the bright nice 360 remains closed today as technical checks continue after it broke down 3 times in 5 days the 161 meta Taleb billed as the world's thinnest tower open to the beginning of August but in the last few days it's hit some snags detractions manages say they're what they call tests and checks are progressing well they've apologized for the inconvenience they say further updates will be provided it's all meant disappointment for some visitors this couple told our reporter Simon Jenkins they were left disappointed after coming to the city especially to go up the I $360.00 and to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary son and daughter gave it to us. For to wedding anniversary present also afternoon tea at the restaurant and a guide book page that said would come down to Brighton for 3 days so we could do this on leisure we did a really really looking forward to having our son bring us let us know yesterday perhaps rather upset because of our son he'd look at so the office he gave his friend but. Like a bit more majors and today because you think of it just with a yes. I know you have a lovely day and if you're going to be as they are very good at articulating it well we have been asking the brightness 360 since Monday to come on and tell us more about the problem they have so far to Kleins you heard the statement at the beginning of this piece you can hear more on the story tomorrow in b.b.c. 6 by. Headline to 60 minutes past 5 Labor M.P.'s and some conservatives have expressed anger about proposals to redraw constituency boundaries and reduce the number of seats at Westminster by 50 in time for the next general election the owners of Brighton psi 360 say that work on the attraction is progressing well it's been closed for 2 days after technical problems and taking cannabis for medical reasons should be made legal according to a cross party group of politicians got more on that later on in the show the way the fine evening plenty of lay sunshine it will stay dry and warm a monkey the night some missed a full patch is developing by dawn close 18 Celsius 64 found high tomorrow early missed a full clearing leaving a dry hot and sunny day with top temperatures 26 Celsius that's 79. Jeremy Koeppen in Brighton where the t u conference is being held we got more on that a little later on into night's program 1st though it's cd case hottest day of the years so far and the warmest September day since 1911 the highest temperatures been recorded in Gravesend in Kenya reach 34.4 degrees Celsius a spell of warm autumn weather is full costs continue in many areas until Friday so Sussex enjoys a sunshine What effect has it had on our local businesses joining me on the line now I don't generally he's from the Brighton sea from Traders Association and also from Brighton watersports and thanks for joining us on the line right now a problem busy day for you today then. It's really nice ride down here on from the actual base and it's actually good you know very little wind in the city. Could change its speed makes this summer in terms of weather has it will kind of impact is that had only. Been a really slow start to going into the summer but when it when it finally kicked in . Coincided with the school holidays which was which was a bonus. Yet it's been a bit it makes it's been a day one of the windiest seasons we've seen so far net that really does. Down on the sea from the coast the sun supposed to sit children have gone back to school I'm presuming that many people come to Brighton to do stages of their life was hope you enjoy or people enjoy a break when they when their children have left oh yeah I mean we get a lot of tourism sort of domestic 2 of them from London down here as well and. You know the school holidays. It's a bonus when the you know the summer and she appears in the school holidays you know we're not just really you know restricted that we do the you know big change but we're also a massive changed. When the realm networks went down you know during the school holidays which is quite disappointing you know I can imagine the rail strike has been a bit of a pain. Yeah I mean it has been united the local councils of the things I'm trying to encourage people to to not drive into Bronson's. Extortion that's the kind of. But then when the you know when the train strikes happening or it's restricted you know people. Don't realize that you know many ways before that was restricted timetables so you got you know opposite many trains in each train is sort of twice as busy and a lot of it which is giving up and just sort of going. To work as well on the sea front of them I mean the House I think should businesses. The I mean cosmetically it has affected quite a few of the businesses down on that and so many don't want to sit down and rest on the wall there's so much building work going out directly in front of you know the guys down at that particular section as. Is getting towards a tad Linda and. They have you know they have lost amounts of money that they will benefit in the in the long term because you know it is looking much better down there because basically than it had been in the past but there's still a big chunk out there packet which actually just can't be replaced. And of course the ice 360 that was something that is going to last people a long surprise and what you make about the place that present closure arguments here are close. To the way that it is because they've had a key mechanical error you technical problems yeah yeah I mean I'm serious not great I had a breakdown a 2nd time. And. Yeah it doesn't it's not really for any business to have to break down at least they've got the heating now and they can solve. Really. Well it sounds like there's plenty for the people to enjoy in the sunshine today and thank you for taking the time still to us and I promise. Thank you very much here but the atmosphere there going on in Brighton at the moment sounds absolutely wonderful that now the proposed boundary changes that we've been hearing about have also been on the agenda at the t.v. Sea conference in Brighton today the shadow education secretary Angela Raina claim that reason May was seeking to give the Conservatives an unfair advantage will it still trap lexical Correspondent Allen said he joined this Senator Allen as some of the big names in politics could potentially lose their seat well in theory at least yes a Jeremy Corbin's constituency is being abolished so who is George Osborne's in both cases the has to say that they feel confident that they will baggage to get selected for a nearby alternative constituency to fight the next general election but they will still have to go through that process as well as their although I'm sure big names as they are they might not have too much trouble doing that but they will be M.P.'s you know further down the ladder he may well actually find that they Conte's manage to get a constituency to fight at the next general election and in the political musical chairs they will not have found a chair when the the music stopped even those who are still going to have a siege. Where their constituency is not being completely abolished they might. I find that their boundaries are being changed to take in an area very differently to how their current constituency votes and one of the people that that might affect is Nick Clegg in Sheffield his constituency is being extended to an area that isn't particularly Dame So what was made of all this at the conference today then what was said about the boundary changes. Well there was a guest here earlier on Angela Raina who's the shadow education secretary and she like many within the Labor Party are absolutely furious about it and she was telling the conference here that it is unfair in her view particularly against the Labor Party and Labor claims that this is basically the conservatives trying to Jerry band things to nobble the electoral system or in their advantage it certainly is the case there's. A lot of people are predicting that the conservatives will be the big winners out of base and labor will be the biggest losers and it is the case that a lot of the constituencies that are on the smaller side at the moment where the boundaries will be extended to make them bigger and therefore there will be fewer of them a lot of those are held by Labor at the minute and that really is where a lot of the controversy around this comes from and of course Jeremy called in Brian today sir Labor leadership election overshadowing the t.c. Conference. I don't think you can get away from the fact that it's it is in the background as much as the 2 you see would not like it to overshadow you know because they are trying to stay out of it they know that not all of their unions are affiliated to the Labor Party quite a few of them are not even of those that are there are differences of opinion not everyone in the union movement is a Jeremy Corbin supporter but when you wander around the place there are plenty of Jeremy Corbyn fans around the place and even some saying things like Down with the Blairites and also Jeremy Corbyn himself is around pricing today. Even though largely not a t.c. Events but it's just a reminder that all this is going on in the same neighborhood as where this conference is taking place and women's feet apparently. Yes this is to do with high heels and whether you should have to wear high heels at work if your boss tells you to and a motion was passed today saying that there should be a code of conduct to tell employers that they cannot force employees to wear high heeled shoes and it was brought by the society of sheer opportunists and podiatrists and they were worried by a case that got quite a publicist you might remember it a few months back where someone had gone to work as a temp for a company or reception was turned away on a 1st day because they said to you have to wear high heels for this job and she wasn't wearing high heels but as well as the high heels aspect and by the way if you're wondering apparently according to the fish experts at the society they reckon more than 3 and a half inches is really really bad for your feet but apart from the high heels Francis O'Grady the general secretary of the 2 you see thinks that they should extend that to forcing women to wear make up as well for certain jobs interesting stuff thank you Alan and of course bring out today with all the lies you got more now Breakfast Show tomorrow morning breakfast with Neil Kringle you probably know his dad the British people have spoken and the answer is we're out but it's David Dimbleby son Fred who be joining us on b.b.c. Sussex for breakfast tomorrow all thanks to this interview we did with him during the election. Come and do a job here you'd love me for it would you would you like your 1st radio job. So that's Fred Dimbleby tomorrow morning from 6 on b.b.c. Sussex. Well other nice today something has to give in the n.h.s. And we have to accept some services will have to go that's according to Chris Hopson who's the chief executive of n.h.s. Providers which represents nearly all hospitals in England 4 out of 5 hospitals are now in debt a huge rise in 3 years ago when it was only one in 20 Danny Pike found out more about the state of finances in the health service from Daniel Reynolds of n.h.s. Providers 96 trusts in England are now men. And what they've been saying to us over the last few months is that essentially Enough is enough and that's for a couple of reasons firstly performance standards such as waiting times for a in a and impatient treatment despite the best efforts of hardworking stars are simply not being met I'm missing a very correct show and slow decline in performance so we're really under huge pressure from that perspective you know demand in terms of people turning up a.m.a. Is rising year on year actually 6 percent more all this time this year compared to last year so huge extra numbers of people coming from the front door trusts are also really struggling to make the money work you know the n.h.s. Is in the middle of the deepest and longest run into a squeeze in its history and this year this parliament is actually the most generous of all in the parliament from next year on boards the funding increases will really start to go down and we just think and the trusts in our membership are telling us that gap between what they're being asked to deliver and what they can afford is just becoming too big an ask is the answer to this as simple as putting more money in because there's an increased demand on services No I don't think it is just about more money coming in I mean the n.h.s. Does need to be more efficient more productive and hospital chief executives and others are doing all they can I mean in the last parliament the coalition government is the n.h.s. Managed to deliver about 19000000000 pounds in efficiency targets but most people would tell you that was the the low hanging fruit 'd and it's getting increasingly difficult to do that and you know 70 percent of the hospitals budget is really it starts so you're starting to look at if we are going to cut it stuffing numbers I mean what will you do you can cut staff and deliver the quality of service you're already saying that the standards are starting to decline you cut staff it's going to get worse quicker Absolutely that's what we would say and you know it takes a long time as well if you remember to train a doctor a nurse another health professional. I mean in terms of solutions and what we might do it wouldn't necessarily have to be plowing more money into the health service I mean one of you speak area where health I think most people in health would agree social care which has been absolutely decimated in recent years and we quite attracted to the idea of investing more in social care whether that giving it to the n.h.s. And ring fencing that to spend on adult social care that could be one way which really helps to kind of care for people in the community and stops the vast number of people turning up in a which is really crippling hospitals but that again that would not be a quick turnaround would it Daniel so if you're if we're talking about a crisis now with the level of dead people that social care could actually have an impact it's going to get a lot worse isn't that well that is a worry I mean you could go to a member I mean some of the headlines on the back of you know what my chief is activist been saying you know that the health service on on the verge of collapse I mean isn't really the case the health service continues to perform incredibly well there's so many great examples of care yet I'm probably stopped by the hard work of the people in the shop floor isn't it absolutely and there's a lot of discretionary effort you know people working longer hours to live and I know Bill is that well I think you know the morale of the n.h.s. Workforce is obviously you know you the people on the front line of not had pay rises for 78 years really now you've got junior doctors the biggest one the biggest part of the workforce you know hugely disillusioned because they see the sheer scale of the task isn't really achievable at the moment so a lot of problems with the morale we need to build these people back up invest in them and give them the tools they need to deliver high quality care to patients all the time now 530. Labor M.P.'s Some conservatives have expressed anger about how this was to redrill constituency boundry the proposals which see the number of seats at Westminster. Do you spot 50 in time for the next general election Sussex doesn't lose any M.P.'s but some towns would find themselves in different constituencies if the changes go ahead taking cannabis for medical reasons should be made legal according to cross party group of politicians the old policy Parliamentary Group on drug policy reform says there's clear evidence cannabis could have a therapeutic role for some conditions including chronic pain and anxiety the Home Office says there are no plans to legalize what they called a harmful drug the owners of the Brighton psi 360 say work on the attraction is progressing well the sea from viewing towers being closed for a 2nd day after it broke down 3 times in the last 5 days in one incident visitors were trapped in the viewing part for 2 hours residents who had to evacuate their homes in. A river wall collapsed are locked in a dispute over repairs they fake could cost half a $1000000.00 pounds they are in the boundary wall along the river in which gave way cheering wintertime high tide and heavy rainfall their insurers have refused to pay for repairs and the Environment Agency say it's the owner's responsibility and the hosts of the t.v. Has been so complicated it's a matter of sitting all day on the computer vital letters responding to that person sending a complaint to somebody as an inquiry to the insurance company and insurance companies it been very very helpful so has everybody actually but nothing's been done at the end of the day still we're still here and we are now walking forward any minute and it's quite scary to see from up stairs actually feel Israel really exposed to this and of course when the tides come in well we're just we're finding the tides coming and saying they're going to go higher and higher and it's fair to say that the cottage here is your life's ambition in many ways you made it so unique you spend so much time and effort on it and then you look out the back window and then your small part patios a crack in there and you you can't use the back of it no what's most many people have no idea what's it like living with that well have nosebleeds can't sleep at night. About it so I went on the Friday had a blood test that was at 10 o'clock in the morning and at 5 o'clock that evening they found me and said You've got to get into hospital you've got acute myeloid leukaemia and if you don't get into in the quickly you going to possibly bleed out because you've got her guinea platelets absolutely terrifying go from just thinking you're anemic to your life could potentially be added to the yeah no what point did they tell you the bone marrow transplant was what was needed to save what had lots of chemo had about 6 to 8 sessions of chemo each time I was in hospital for 4 to 5 weeks in 2012 they said I was in remission by the September October of that year and then in 2013 in January in January I went for a blood test and when I went to get the results they weren't sure where to look really and they said it was so sorry it's come back and your only option this time is about thanks this lovely man sitting there absolutely was it like to look at Debbie you know that your bone marrow sponsible for her big it's a really unusual feeling actually because. It's such an easy fairy to do this kind of sign up to the register and get involved. Obviously for the recipient it's a huge deal so it's really strange but lovely Why did you decide to sign up because a lot of us have got those intentions and then don't get around to it so I signed up when my my older son was born obviously leukemia something that affects children very regularly and and I thought you know if he ever needed a transplant I'd hope someone would be on the register and be a match so that's really my primary driver for what does it feel like when you got the call saying there's someone out there that you can help it was really nice feeling because it's almost you know it feels like a real. Privilege to be given the opportunity you know to actually help some. And out in a really big y. . Yeah it was it was a really nice phone call your firm friends now because you are everywhere doing your I had to do You had to get to me. They say you have to leave it at least 2 years before you want to make contact so I left it for 2 and a half and I got in touch with the answer No Auntie Nolan Trust and said Would it be possible for me to contact my donor because I just really want to say thank you and I got same person had sent a couple of cards before that but I hadn't been allowed to give any of my details out and they said well we need to check with him 1st so they checked with David and the message came back yes he's willing. No long one but there's other bestseller say up to 55 so well and you know you know very very well thank you yeah I've got there at the moment I've had so many blood transfusions that I've got a bit too much iron in my blood but that's easily put right there sorting that out . But I feel well I'm back at work and and yeah yeah it's it's really good and of course the process itself is actually quite easy David isn't it it's really easy for 90 percent of people it's done for blood. To be determined Michette is world only day this weekend to find out more about you but it's your favorite search engine and find out more details now other news today the case for legalizing the production and personal use of a medicinal cannabis is overwhelming That's according to Brian's green m.p. Caroline Lucas she's among a group of M.P.'s and pays calling for it to be legalized for medical use they said there's clear evidence that can help some people and tens of thousands of people in the u.k. Already write the law to use the drug for symptom relief he's bright suffers from m.s. And regularly uses cannabis spray to help ease his symptoms so I enough of the pie . Juice spice in the time we and some of the restrictions. Give me back my life with a home office says it's got no plans to legalize cannabis is this evidence it can damage people's mental health earlier I spoke to Clarke Frenchies from Bryson And it's been campaigning to have the drug legalized. Director of the United patients Alliance campaigning for patients have legal access to medical cannabis we've been around for the last we launched last year in Brighton with the support of Caroline Lucas on it now and today we were. In the House of Lords for the i.p.t. . Report launch which recommends legal access to medical advice for patients. A lot of u.k. Politicians say yes it should be made legal but the Home Office says there are no plans to legalize will see it calls a harmful drug What's your reaction to that I think the Home Office really needs to head out the plan and it really needs to look at the science on the evidence Professor Mike bonds providing with this study is a comprehensive review of the literature that is out there century proving that my account of a 1000 additional value the government has 2 options they can change the law or they can continue to look outdated and stupid such that it is it the risk to the reset way the possible benefits for instance the end of the I know something could have impacts such is risk to unborn babies to fatality to mental health to the ability to drive What's your response to that. I think when you look at the problems of cannabis on the n.h.s. And you compare them to some substance such as I'll call it becomes abundantly clear that kind of this is far far safer to suggest that people should be criminalized for consuming kind of risk when they are allowed to consume alcohol and you know I'm not has a lot safety record. Pocker say. Use the fact some people enjoy consuming kind of death as a justification to deny sick people medicine is not only wrong to morrow and the government really needs to look into this and reading these that listen to its people we are crying out we want our lives we need to satisfy yourself for the time anyway what difference does it make to people who have made discrimination such the difference is the difference between having a life and not having a life differences to a being able to wake up in the morning and have an Ok day between being in bed all kinds of for me personally the n.h.s. I was 30000 pounds every single year not just one patient one person so the potential savings are absolutely action the MCO I think is really really in core. People start to get behind the movement for medical cannabis and I can do sorry boy Joining me right on our Web site. And I can also find the petition and I know. We're really seeing some movement not it's not perfect yet we are not where we need to be but. Lestat sport pride in her outfit have hit a sticky patch early on in the season now the seagulls the 13th in the table after successive defeats and tonight they face Championship leaders Huddersfield Johnny canter is live at the Am Ex and Johnny Ace colorful the major concerns for our pm fans Well we did have a few moans in groups air on Saturday in the fall with around 5 a clue. People you know a big concern because it's a one shot a territory recently for Christians side I mean at this stage of the season last year they were in the position to Huddersfield are in now so they had 16 points and were top of the table and I think one thing that has been a concern is they conceded 6 goals in the last 3 games in the Championship and I think that's something that is very unlike Chris utan side in defense of the very strong so that I'm sure would be a little bit of a concern he did say it was good that they had another game so quickly afterwards to try and right those wrongs in a way but yes I think there is a few people sort of say are some people looking at the transfer window not bringing enough players but they certainly won't want this run to continue but saying of course it's going to be tough tough against the league leaders here just how tough that game while they were in a really good run I mean 5 wins out of 6 so far they've got David Wagner who used to play on the year the charismatic manager of Liverpool they play a high pressing game they've totally changed this call the ball in 30 new players over the summer and they double train their fiddles so they work really really hard and they don't live on the ball and that seems to be a real recipe for success when they're a bit of a surprise package it has to be said maybe a bit like Albion were last season but they certainly seem to be relishing that and despite the fact that Albion have a loss in their last 8 encounters with how does field I think they probably go into it marginally favorites and will they be alterations in a bid to try and change things for them well I think there has to be really I think defensively you could see Khana golds and come in for Shane Duffy That would be interesting to see with Ricky's face with his new signing in the center of defense in the center of midfield I expect Dale Stevens to come into the starting 11 after his transfer request in the window that's gone in the past now so he should start he came in as a substitute against Brantford at the weekend I think with all the available after a suspension you're probably coming up from alongside Clare Mari and you have all the coverage for. Really really warm I mean there's just not a cloud in the sky is really nice outside they've got the the beer pumps the Harvey .
