News. Poll. Among a. Long long. Long as. The bowling. Green. Long as. The bugs long as. Long as. The big. I'm a. Picture of you in the days when direct teaching started to sound a bit like Sean Connery ahead of the wife that you know but he did anyway listen that's relevant now that's just nonsense but what matters is that we are intact cast and I keep saying that the sun is shining and we couldn't ask it's perfect cycling weather and I know that because I've got Mark Brown when they and Mark is a cane cyclist from Tolleson and I would. Think a bit more but I just said it's perfect cycling weather not quite perfect side a headwind all the way down. About 50 miles an hour I had written down the $64.00 but as far as it's a brilliant cycle paths are not an issue not funny enough thinking about that when you're on a path like that and the wind is behind you must be great you must be bombing along but it means yes it will be really fast on the White House so it evens itself out I guess it now you and I were having a little natter about the World Cycling Championships and on Saturday it was Sunday and I walked down West Park inherited and I saw literally quite literally thousands and thousands of people taking part in the sportif for those who don't know cycling what is a sporty a sports it's a known competitive event that gives me a chance to just go out and rowing it along routes that he's martial just as if it was a rice but it's not her ice and on that particular occasion on Sunday we could ride some of the routes that being used by. The professionals during the week as pretty exciting isn't it was exciting was terrific to cycle around her Rick at the circuit was just brilliant was it and how did the they feel under your whale so to speak the Save the road surface good in some places that have been resurface and it was terrific some of the drawing covers had been treated they were great but the main thing was just beautiful wide avenues in heritage with no traffic on and even a 30 in the morning spectators out cheering us on now I've been known to exaggerate a bit about my hometown everybody knows this so apologies but when you mention those wide avenues it is like a sort of specially with the trees on the site as it's like a mini Paris sometimes if it did have that kind of feel about it really good atmosphere slightly different atmosphere for the time trial and choose they were it was pouring rain or was soaked through as was everybody else but it was still a fantastic atmosphere there was an air and you've got the races coming through today we know they're not far away after all Dani is only down the road anyway really say it'll be great to see the juniors coming through and it definitely yesterday's junior men's race was fantastic everybody is exonerating is the main professionals and I suspect this one will be as well so yes I'm watching the the women this morning and then the men's under 23 this afternoon and we can hear all these motorcycles rumbling through the great thing about the cycling event as they race gets closer you get more and more things happening more and more signs of life people are coming to line the roads they can't be far away now and in fact let me talk to Mike Sherman an elm it's my voice in my head has told me right yes well it's nice tailwind right straight up the road from Sherman to here so they'll be here in just a matter of minutes now wonderful stuff listen are going to enjoy it Mark thank you so much thank you very much great to chat here right that's Mark this is Taylor Swift I promise that you'll never find another me and that. Lol a. Leg Polls. Cut cut cut. Cut cut cut cut cut cut on the schedule never fun. Radio you'll be. Where we live and failing for a conker just spotted the Conqueror in the middle of the cycling route on the. Severe danger of being run over the cyclists about 3 miles away we think with me now gathered on the bridge I have a day staying for from cycle sense of long with Sue who's his wife and welcome Hi there I'm good yes sighted Oh yeah it's always good to see you know people come into the town races like this yeah you know it's a good buzz I want to buy you so you'll Yeah I know you're excited very excited I was so close I'm kind of getting a bit nervous yes but it was very quickly but doesn't it yeah. Yeah well the helicopter is over head so they they're taking all the shots from above so we know that they must be on the right on the edge of toddy Now Dave you have cycle sense of course which is your shot what does that do exactly. And we've been in charge now for 25 years and where you from originally. Castle which is just outside talk us Ok so. Sounds very profitable. It was a maternity hospital after the 2nd World well during the 2nd World War But anyway that's what Yeah grew up in the air that's went to grammar so yeah it's very familiar with the area and yeah we picked we chose Tadcaster to open the shop because it was you know nice sized not too big. Yeah that's right yeah you know kind of felt at home here but. You know we're in that family cycling serious cyclists touring in particular and have you know just a real upturn since say the Tour de France in 20 years definitely there's you know I mean everybody says it's true and certainly more people on bikes and you know we we've seen the business grow and you know when I 1st started I was literally a woman and you know we. Being bigger but you know we you know we run it very very smoothly with a smaller team and it were a family business both Suma self and both Paul and John and Sam who you're going to talk to shortly and. I'm glad I'm glad it's gone well chuckling to say you came to top at the same time we're both looking at the road I don't want to miss the rain now and I would be awful if I was asking you something we missed it but we don't look there's more cyclists more people official bikes coming through they can't be more than a mile away after I think they're very near especially because we've seen the helicopters you know what a great sight this is you had bikes coming by any 2nd here they go on a. Mission and I'm going to I am getting excited this is the trouble they should let me on the right of this. While they're getting close right so we've got helicopters overhead and we're looking out for Abby Smith because she's from North Yorkshire Ok yeah she's going to lead the way we hope although last time we heard there was another lady who's about 30 seconds late we think that one month great sign of the what I've noticed about covering cycle races is a load of bikes come through and you think Western race was there and then there's a load of silence and then a few more comes and there's a lot of false starts and well. You always got your you leaders. And then some they managed themselves they're ready for using all their energy yeah it's the end yeah so this doesn't tell us who is going to win at the moment no it doesn't there's a place of flags on their bikes which is which is only right and proper of classic stage right Ok more motorcycles more thing saying caution cycle event now we've got the tribe had can hear that now the car Ok Here they come so you come and stand next to me come and talk to me we got this now you want we got a car come through with the time on it so we know that the must be there within a. Minute my goodness made many. Right apparently everyone's together they were the bikes they the motorbikes the police the way that they wave at the children it just creates such a great atmosphere and at no cost to the families and as a free respect to call it least now we can we gather there is no one with an outbreak so the pilots are all together and all other official call coming over now it's always says it's all right exactly where they are. So the junior road race this is the where the very the cell be turned off apparently. Heading into Tadcaster this you can tell every time I pause and then speak like that it's because Simon is in the studio he's giving me important information but that can be really close now which is great and b. Smith as I say these these cyclists set off just before 910 to 9 this morning from Doncaster So they've been cycling up through the heart of Yorkshire and they are heading into Topcast are right now I can see a bow a 150 metres ahead of me and as yet there are no sign of cyclists but the bike off to buy. Another one. I keep myself in the forecast the sun is shining. I keep thinking I've probably done the frankly wonderful in talking. You are excited I'm loving it you and I like the kids what's going on over there Yorkshire flags everywhere there's that special bunting that Todd craft has put up for us as well oh yeah this bike I think there are more motorbikes in this race in their own bloomin does cheating Surely they don't look out of breath a tall I don't care they come right now every motorbike now as these lights on and now whizzing through a heck of a lick actually so it's quite good with the grandstands account how many modes of Reichs so many other. Various but a lot of there must have been about 30 I going to say yeah yeah I think we've got up to 20 odd before that credible and with did you know they have this glorious North Yorkshire weather to welcome them as well there is still no sign as we stand on the bridge of official bikes coming through but way in the distance there is a motorbike a police bike and he has stopped and he has his blue lights flashing so I think it really is imminent now and also the bike of the other side of this a bike either side of the bridge and they've stopped their police motorbikes they've stopped with their lights on I think this is the probably to the race itself coming through the lot of times caster This is seriously exciting there's a lot of people here today as well as another one coming over that they're doing that the police and the the experts who do the race to. P.r. They do a lot of waving at people and of course the crowds absolutely love that but we have this kind of anticipation where we think they're going to be here the 2nd I keep promising you started this jam tomorrow from me folks there's just. Veg at. The moment right now jam for Bush that they all could. Play like this is this is a late cycling for you there and those of you who've followed the races like that sort of year which are the joy of covering this year as well familiar with this kind of event we I was saying the other day we've become sort of experts on cycling since the trying to palm 2014 because we kind of we feel we know our cycling now I don't sure that's the case in in my case but there are a lot of people here like Mark who we were chatting to just now who is who absolutely does know his side thing I have told is that there were 5000 plus cyclists in that sportif inherited at the weekend which was the wonderful prelude to the World Championships which still sounds odd to say we've even got those on our doorstep doesn't it really does but. Yeah absolutely remarkable to think of that I'm just going to say to my voice in the studio how far how far away do you think now Simon. We're going to run I think they're really close really do I'm going to get on to the bridge and fun. Oh oh yeah all of being bitten by a dog just to jump on the bridge goodness me it's all happening here is a riot Ok I literally got my ankles in it by a dog as I climbed onto the bridge much to Jane's delight produced the thanks and you know if you don't worry about me being injured like you right here they come we have cars with bikes official cars with bikes coming through now I promise you this time it is going to happen the helicopters overhead and it's coming through very very quickly I'm out of breath planning on the wall and he wants a. House right Ok so that unit women's racing left Doncaster at 10 to 9 Smith from Helmsley leading the way and carrying all Yorkshire hopes and they are coming through a heck of a lick now they finish in America today the men's junior race will take place later on they go through garbage and as I speak to you here they come the peloton rattling through there is noise overhead from the helicopter and the junior women's race these are the best cyclists in the world a rattling across the newly rebuilt Tadcaster bridge God. Look at that brilliant fun test the cutlass face and I cannot believe how quickly they are growing that is incredibly fast they average about $32.00 k. Something like that and they are looking fresh as daisies they have come through followed by a stream of official bikes many of whom of course are from the teams themselves if you get a puncture at this level a car pulls up to you they give you a brand new bike and you set off again and you can stream behind that car to catch up to the peloton again it is a magnificent sight and typecast has been treated to this last weekend it is here again this weekend as well there at the junior women's race going through now and as I speak one of the cyclists at the back is catching up the others they must have had a some sort of tumble and they're slowly getting drawn back to the main palace. I would. Have been hearing these I'd be going through. A moment so if you're heading out that way you just need to bear in mind various rolling road closures in place so your crowd looking very slow at the moment be a 659 commonly a rolling roadblock to the junction and of course in by the be as well rolling roadblock there as well at the moment sus the a 168 Boston road just needed to the junction of the a 58 where the b. Road so expect any heading that way as well. Because of the ongoing road works very slow in both directions just needs the junction of. A 64 to and from the coach to give us a cold one over 848 fuel station for the u.c.i. . Championships b.b.c. The. Seem of different groups coming through we thought there was one peloton but they were as a people coming through on their own then there were other groups because there's been some some nasty tumbles unfortunately and the race itself is followed by a huge number of officials including Luckily ambulances and stuff so there are still some people coming through on this race it's a long long way to get Let's talk to Sam Sam later today even so you know that you know that I yell that a lot I am not a liar I'm not the family I make you know. I'm their adopted son if you like. Let's tell us a bit about you because you're part of cycle census. I mean our children's bike shops or we're just doing exclusively children's bikes and accessories and so I mean this sort of stuff speak right for you guys did they did they do you think the kids get inspired We talk a lot about legacy do you think they get inspired by it as well Oh definitely I mean you only have to look at when the has been through the local schools all get involved it's great. You know and there's an upside a kid how kids want to go cycling circuit cycle school it's regular practice to leave the bikes at school or cycle home it's yeah and we you know when you when you hear that we took a city and you know trying to get people a little bit healthier and stuff then the bicycle craze said hey the vice got Gray said to speak is is even better for that absolutely not just physical but mental health you know commuting on the Mall in gets you ready for the day it's brilliant and you know role can for ways to be greener. Yeah right to do is go over Council and do cyclists self now yeah you know couple 100 miles a week do you really that's pretty serious stuff yeah I mean we have a local cycling club we go out 3 times a week so it's you know it's easily accomplished when you are friends who's good and kind of bike to ride road bikes So I'm So I'm sort ones as well as these guys. Like what carbon fiber so yeah yeah yeah it's there's nothing else is there not. Up there if they've come on such a long way since I had a road bike you can still get steel bikes and things with them all sort of. Things that you know you get if you're if you really want to steal bike you know carbons the best it's because light its lights are is more comfortable it lasts longer but it retains its strength of doesn't fatigue like like steel. Ok I'll go to now fantastic and so exciting seeing the race come through when you when you come out to see the lads come through Absolutely yeah there will be outside bits but we go right Ok apparently the race is approaching so parched now so they're not quite at quite a lick they've got they've got tailwind all the way behind them from Doncaster Horrigan so it will be a fast race oh wow that's lucky isn't it we're hearing from marker earlier on the if you get a tailwind it's happy days but if you know you're struggling if you're struggling it's actually harder to follow the wheels in from Syria because the race is faster so it's why is that and why is it Christiane you pulled along by the yeah the faster it goes the mall the more effect dynamics actually has on the on the drugs so certain gets harder Wow Excellent stuff every day's a school day I'm learning all the time we still have motorbikes coming through but I would imagine the race itself was is done for now isn't it unless there's I don't know I haven't seen the last vehicle there's another cycle oh my goodness right we've got someone coming through now who must be so far behind glass so much trying to get the country held on. Aids starts Kazakstan now they must have been a victim of the crash I think possibly. Just being hard all day all the way to Todd Custer so it will be very fast and they think oh well look some lovely to chat to you I hope you enjoy the men's race when it comes through later on it's been a pleasure we get you in the next world you look young enough to be in the next we'll charge you. Oughta. Gonna move for a. Nice to chat to thank you so much for we still have cars coming through. Bikes coming through as well. I mentioned the sun is shining so I'll just give you a little update on the weather for today there is in fact yellow warning for rain valid from tomorrow so nothing too much to worry about out the moment there'll be a good deal of cloud around today scattering of showers some will be heavy another cyclist coming through. On this one is for Raleigh trying to really. Slovenia I think they have suffered from one of the falls as well and I think that surely is the last long there a long way sadly behind the main peloton they must be 4 or 5 miles ahead of them I would think anyway weather details some heavy and possibly longest shower spells later on rain at times especially during this afternoon today 15 Celsius 59 the high As for the savings and Sherry rain will push away to give dry and clear conditions from time to time although there will be shower as they'll push up from the west later on lows of 7 which is 45 and tomorrow a scattering of showers but they will clear a way to give bright and sunny spells developing as well especially during the afternoon we are looking at highs tomorrow of 16 Celsius 61 found Roddy Let's have a little bit of music this is Bill in a college. Degree or. 3 Is a place on a the road again and the interesting thing is a. Cycle racing in this country now because the road closures means that you don't have to wait too long with full things up and running again now I have with me and . That's not so easy. And. We know some of the people are a same 3 of the girls women who just want. And so how did that how were they doing when they came over 2 of them had a lot of cuts and scratches on them so that obviously being in the ditch but you know 2 of them were in the main park one of them got out the box a few cuts on her face but you know they're they're also they're it's a tough gig they cycle racing darling Yeah absolutely I mean the amount of effort and work that they've put in to be here today it's just incredible incredible athletes and I didn't it's any now in recent years that we're starting to appreciate those of us who aren't sort of mega cyclists just was fine at least Yeah I mean Kevin you you were in a race there more more recently one of the girls in this. It's. Obviously on the I'm a full grown man it's this girl is 16 and I've raced against her know what that was this sounds like it might be a mistake and she she will piece it 90 percent of the man she races and she's a 16 year old girl so they're phenomenal after it's all and they make it look so easy how does not go out on a stage yeah I think there's just a really nice catch so it looks at Russell and I think it was the case that you probably had to inferior kid that's why she won it could be that could be done and tell me something you know I have a from Island which is as everyone knows is a very beautiful place but we'll have to agree surely that I was as nice as your Oh I actually worked here 20 years ago yes I worked for the Environment Agency so I'm over to visit a friend who lives in New York so it's a life to be back it's great country sights we're enjoying the we've brought our bikes here to stay so we cycle from New York to Todd casters so yeah that's where we're here till Monday so we're going to make the most of the scenery and get in a few more races Yeah well exactly now I'm going I know I'm going out and watch I'm going to have a guy lift that that's why I'm going to 10 of are you going to hire a guy I'm getting my questions muddled up having you know we're going to go in softer noon have a look around maybe see the end of the men's under 23 year and then I think on Sunday we're going to find a perch and watch the men's. Around while I'm working there on Sunday and I have to say the man was race into what I do at the women's rights as well but the date the terrain that is involved in the longer race that that the biggest race that's. You know yeah I mean we're hoping to maybe go up into the. Sunday to catch some of Saturday Saturday Yeah yeah so but the men's race on Sunday right so yes we catch a little bit of that in Sunday so yeah one of the night people in Yorkshire making you feel welcome and at home very welcome yeah I know we've had a wonderful time and I've been talking to some mornings on a few hours on it's been fantastic countryside to really notice everyone is saying hello to me I actually got asked was I racing really well that's right which is pretty funny. You know to be late with you given that was it your. Call you sweetheart as well but you think you think the massage world would give you you know why you but I personally know it's I don't foresee any old shit out yeah but you know we've been having a wonderful song really nice stuff and he did this no of there's no pick a fight on you so I don't suppose you partake in alcohol or anything like that do oh well Kevin probably had if you had been partial if you buy red wine in the evenings and were looking forward to sampling some of the best in the world amazing so yeah yeah yeah that's the plan for tonight but you know it's such is so lovely to speak to you both you know you are still having a lot of fun and where you cycling off to next week going well would you know a little bit of a longer Lupo meant to end up in New York and then we're going to get the train to London Ok when I see that look out feel coming at us recognise me that I thought when I got my makeup on for the radio I just look quite you know you look great thanks ever so much well that's a good place to land that they said Lovely to see if I thank you for this is b.b.c. Radio great Ok with just descending into nonsense now it's time for some this is yellow. Live. Radio you're. Welcome back to typecast the world be honest to the I'm not going to lie it's got a tight cloudy the weather was at its very very peak for the women's junior road race and I'm funny even felt the splash of rain on my bald head that's how about it but anyway. Weather updated later on the women's junior road race posit just come through tidy is heading towards heritage the ride is a Jew that we think just after 11 this morning so they're going they're going it. And this afternoon it's the turn the men's and 23 road races don't pass the just have to take it comes to. Quarter to 4 and arrives in America just before 6 day for them in the saddle they do 3 circuits of the town as well and on the way the cyclists head through Barack rage just where I went to school and fight our port a journey to much to see is that a finer other preparing and after me journey to learning to think she auditioned for Play School wall 121-234-5678 extension 910 dumb I'm just counting bear with me 111-213-1415 I'm counting the rainbow jerseys that have been put up across these 2 No 4 trees in lead up to the entrance to Springfield in Burbridge they look absolutely brilliant there's loads of them I think is going to take me some time to count them. There's also some bikes big cardboard cutout bikes that are on the fences the bunting there as well as the different colors there are bikes that have been painted in the window and here Springfield. The person's home they're going to be holding a coffee tea afternoon and you read a really heavy duty we have for you arrange it yes it was originally our Macmillan coffee morning but we've rearranged it to coincide with the by Quest coming through this afternoon which is. 23 nothing. And where have an afternoon. Tea coffee and some cakes for say. A few games before and with a raffle go in. The lot going on and then we're going to rush out to the front entrance to support the bikes coming through on the way from Doncaster to be great you know you work here. Going on and we're going to make the most of it how much of how much did you do in terms of the decorations here because these bikes are incredible we actually got the bikes from the people involved in ice a lot of the. Continent things and for a bridge to Jesse thanks to our cleric jail Shane 55 and the rest friends of Springfield and some of this while so you can see we've got loads has been a lot of work put into it but it looks fabulous. I have a chance. Here in Springfield golf but you've also been involved in all the decorations on the high street as well. As tell me what you've been involved as well you've been doing well I've been doing the. Facebook side of things Ok I'm helping out by advertising and then just going. The me in this and being involved really and we must mention that you are all night last night you're still awake and you coming before the candidate are you. A little bit yes we can say. No here in Springfield have done so much and it looks fabulous specially with the fact that it's going to be the 1st point of call in Burbridge as well when the conference so to have like this amazing display is fantastic what do you make of bar bridges the whole because you really have gone to town here Debbie It looks fantastic it's lovely to drive through the I remember the 1st mall in the fall of one to No if not drove into. It just looks here but she's lovely Are you ready for the visitors because we would talk about the legacy after a big race has gone through a town you know you see you start to see more a movie says fans from across the u.k. Road at the moment so if you buy stalls running routes course Weatherby road closed in both directions for the cycling and still a Boston road remains closed off in Weatherbee itself so rolling roadblock in place the a 6 I saw a 168 so if you heading that way do still allows measure time future any still looking very busy on surrounding the a 658 away from Nascar at the moment towards whether the road that junction there very very heavy a 59 also looking a little bit slow in both directions as well. A 1079 remains very busy in both directions that's all because of the ongoing roadworks from the road closures and travel for the world.
