Northern Ireland understands more than 1000 small businesses across the u.k. Signed up to digital advertising packages which could not leave them more than 10000 pints in debt the company behind the scheme is on the brink of collapse businesses have told the b.b.c. The debts will cripple them Peter cultural reports businesses were told they would have a screen in their shop showing ads from local retailers and they would get their own ad showing nearby they had to pay out $300.00 pounds a month to finance infirm for 3 years but the original sales company viewable told the businesses it would pay them back with money generated from the ads if you pull cease trading in gin and the company that took over the scheme Rhino Media Group has said it can no longer pay the small retailers leaving them only not to tan $1000.00 points to finance companies Rhino Media Group said information provided to customers at point of sale was clear but they would work to remove the burden of least pay. As for customers if they could secure new investment porters and drivers are among the staff at Belfast City create Calvin Musgrave Park and Omaha spittles who are beginning strike action this morning its part of Northern Ireland wide action by members of Unison the largest health workers union here over pay and stuffing issues the strikes are staggered at different hospitals over the next couple of weeks Queen's University and Ulster University have fined 58 students in Belfast's holy land area for antisocial behavior since the start of the 28000 academic year many more have received written warning signs our education correspondent Robbie Meredith reports there have been complaints from some residents in the holy land for a number of years about on the social behavior especially during university term time the bulk of the students living in the area come from Queens and Ulster universities Queens said it had fined 33 students in the Holy Land a total of $4900.00 points since August 20th tain and this should $113.00 with written warnings about their conduct also to find $25.00 students in the same period collecting 1400 points in 20th to 19 given 10911 written warnings and suspended 3 students both university said they would fully investigate any complaints of antisocial behavior by their students to weakside from polling day the b.b.c. Understands that Labor has agreed a new strategy to close the gout with the conservatives in the opinion polls senior figures a privately admitted that in some areas the party is struggling to hold onto the support of people who voted to leave the e.u. So in these areas Labor will make a fresh attempt to explain the kind of bricks that deal it would put to further referendum more from our political correspondent in Watson Labor insiders say in the 1st half of the election campaign the over estimated the Lib Dem threat well. They're estimating the willingness of live voters to switch to the conservatives certain weeks 2 weeks if you live in a Leave area you're likely to see a very different style of campaign Labor's new plan would give a higher profile to Shadow Cabinet members who back to leave deal rather than remain and more activists are set to be moved into the areas the message will be that a new referendum would be an attempt to remain in the e.u. By the bike tour and to build a new emphasis on bread and butter issues from extending free bus fares to boosting police numbers environmental campaigners are calling for supermarkets to increase the price of bikes for life to 70 pence research suggests one and a half 1000000000 of the carriers were brought bought in the u.k. Now steer a 30 percent increase compared with 28 teams that figure it quits to 54 by 4 every high sold Juliet Phillips is from the environmental investigation agency which conducted the research with Greenpeace she says supermarkets have a responsibility to reduce the amount of plastic they produce and sell because the companies haven't factored plastic reduction into their great plan have they felt more products they're also being more plastic another factor in the sale of brown the lot of the companies that reduction targets are just focused on Aaron Brown ranges but branded get can make up between 40 and 60 percent of the overall amount of product being felt a major trial of venom in youth I mean. Immunotherapy drug a beg your pardon has shown it can be effective for some men his prostate cancer has stopped responding to other treatments last week the same drug that was reported to have proved effective in treating advanced head and neck cancers Here's our health correspondent Dominic Yes immunotherapy uses our own immune systems to recognise an attack cancer cells this latest study looked at men with advanced prostate cancer who'd run out of all other treatment options a trial led by the instant. Huge of cancer research and the Royal Marsden found that one in 20 men responded to the drug Pembroke listen map and saw they chew Ms actually shrink or disappear altogether a further 19 percent saw some evidence of improvement last week a separate trial found the same drug kept head and neck cancer bay in some patients for an average of 2 years 5 times longer than under chemotherapy that's often I have a summary at half past the it I'm a thank you let's have your travel news now with Brooke into Marietta creating road remains busy as does the old Golf Course Road and canes way that's as a result of an area on the black showed on slip coming onto the m one the cars have been cleared so things should get back to normal there shortly and elsewhere the sit in bypass is nicely twisty street as is the empty from the hill section to Nelson Street it's 7 minutes past the Good morning Elster investigation understands that more than 1500 small businesses across the u.k. Are signed up to digital advertising packages which could die leave them more than 10000 pounds each in debt the company behind the scheme Rhino Media Group appears to be on the brink of collapse the businesses which remain liable for the debt have told the b.b.c. The debts will cripple them Peter culture explains how it works for the businesses who signed up this seemed like a pretty good day they got a screen in their shop which showed hours from other retailers in the area and there was shown locally in other shops night they had to pay out $300.00 pounds a month and were told that they would get that back from the revenue generated from the ads that were sold but business is say they didn't realise they had actually signed finance agreements worth more than $10000.00 points push growing and even though they aren't getting any money back they still have to pay out of a Coles runs travel agents near Guilford and she signed up to the deal instead of the time she didn't realise what she was signing or what might happen if things went wrong when you say you found oh my god are you so stupid to do something like that but you know when they come into they're in front of you and know that you know it's really the money. Take money out you know they don't really explain to you that you know that if they go about $1.00 company away stop paying you still get the money each explosion explained properly that will run a media have written to the customers saying they've let all their staff go and the directors are still trying to find new advertisers but that that is becoming increasingly difficult when read my one is from the Federation of Small Businesses really good morning to you and Andrew Bustard it runs car dealership in council and has one of those screens under very good morning to thank you for joining us the idea was of course that you were to bring money in by advertising other people on your screen have you made any money at all you know. But we have. Almost we could advertise a way there for a wider audience and or whatever come back to us to give us this option so how much are you in hock to the finance company for. A run explosion of per year and we probably are still a year and a half or slightly longer to go and have you investigated if there's any way I'd have it under the contract. Well for a limited company we have a lot less consumer rights we have been known to the f.c.c. . Because horse complete it was very little they could do but there's hundreds of us. You've made us the last question how good we hope that they can take action on this because as fraud did you sign this contract under without reading it properly knew. It was in the office it was explained. What was going to concurrently. For the for the contract was met by a telephone call because the. Contract limited variable rather than so that's where there's a slight diversion. Terms of the contract say as a limit comment we have a lot less consumer rights summer Ed McMahon from the Federation small businesses there are hundreds of these companies involved is there any way out for them. Well no the best thing we can advise at this stage is for each of those individual companies to get their own individual legal advice as Andriy and for their age of the contacts could be slightly different each of the parties involved in the contracts could be slightly different and that will impact on the possible avenues for redress in the future so the most important thing is that they get legal advice on the contracts that they've entered into and explore whether there are any avenues for them that the state I presume you have seen least some of these contracts is this contract to the finance company written in very small print or is it solely obvious look I'm I'm not a legal advisor so I can't advise on those points but again I must reiterate that the most important thing is not only to get legal advice but to follow it we understand that some people have sought legal advice about whether there are avenues to get out of the contract someone advised that there aren't and have still taken decisions to break the terms of that contract by failing to keep up on their repayments that's not something we could stand over encourage people to date or to be implications down the line for you aware of anyone who has done that who has had legal action brought against them by the finance company I'm not aware of out of this debt I mean it just it just does I suppose point out that if you're a small business or a limit of cash reserves you need to be very careful about every anything you sign up to absolutely run in any small businesses that is a risky endeavor in general terms if you're entering into any kind of contract what we would say is you need to look you know is it particularly length does it seem very extensive for the nature of the deal if there are any of the terms and conditions you not clear up or if you're not clear who all of the parties to that contract are or if you're feeling in any way pressured or coerced into signing it then we would say take a moment get some advice talk to somebody you trust ask them to look over the contract contact the legal adviser make sure you fully understand all of the implications and all of the liabilities of the parties involved before you enter into any of these kinds of deals under Have you spoken directly to the finance come . Me Yes they have and what did they say to you. And I think they're trying to say that they're so. Rayna what a person I'm kind of a responsible been approved for the r.c.a. In that spirit of the companies that. Complement ourselves or answerable. For all we fully don't know we believe that Grant has been part of them so hard you're not taken action again carrying the c m scheme yet here you can count since I'm going to compliment you mentioned leasing the finance company or the manager this is a statement we got from them as a responsible lender who will always try to assist customers with any issues they may have surrounding their lease contracts in this particular instance the issues appear to relate to a separate media and advertising contract with the viewable media and Rhino media group where this is the case we have directed customers towards the providers of these contracts so they're saying do you go back to viewable who were the original providers of the Condor they've gone bust and Rhino media who seem to be on the brink of going bust not much use to you know what that's not much just lost. On support for these companies just. To make sure they are viable enough. Or. You know I. Also want to caution we have no evidence that this was a fraudulent set up at this point of course spread but we can't say we can stand over that no one's than it is not there and we don't have any evidence on that we can make that kind of judgment and you know we do often find in similar situations that small businesses do you have limited legal options and in various other fora we've campaigned for small business to be treated as consumers essentially to have the same kinds of rights as an individual consumer because in a lot of cases that's why small businesses. On the person and so that's something we would certainly believe in and take is there any point marriage in companies which have not already done so in contacting you at the Federation and certainly any members can contact our legal team and we will also be able to direct them to you trading standards to the Financial Ombudsman because as I've already outlined different businesses will be unsightly different contracts and may have slightly different legal rights understand Andre's position perfectly So what should happen next in this case the taskforce should do what we would like to look into whether there are any gaps in the law whether there are any are any additional legal protections that could be granted to small businesses as I say and sort of and whether or not it is in serious or and as not specifically dealing with this bro I wouldn't necessarily deal with this problem Ok thank you very much Drew thank you very much indeed I hope you do get sorted out yes need now you're listening and you've been affected to get in touch with us here in the program reporter Peter cold has been out again to this investigating on behalf of many people so he'd be happy to hear from me but I have mine or you can tweet us at b.b.c. G.m.u. The time no quarter past 8 and this was well be the season of festive cheer but not if you've got the winter vomiting bug or flu schools across Northern Ireland are currently experiencing high levels of pupils 2nd less so high are they coping and what's the guidance to stop the spread of infection that's been our Dr Phillip Vale He's a consultant on health protection at the Public Health Agency and Chris Curry who is the principal of Kalinski primary school Good morning to you both You're very welcome Mr Curry if I can begin with you how bad is the situation where you are home many children are off sick at the moment. Montana. Our situation here is pretty desperate so it's not a level really were which I haven't really seen before in terms of people's absences Scott's absence. It's right up of the tail of the stage has not it's going to be today but certainly yesterday we had numbers of about 160 to present but 350 children very difficult for us to tell us what this stage how much of that absence has been. Lots of sadness and sometimes on whether parents are getting the course many options because we haven't tried to do that so hard little bits of us walk on to. The I think 6 or 7 staff they're going to be absent putting a certain color sorting out the cover for that and the supply cover cost resistance thing is set in prison quite a quite a challenge for some say that night can you give us some idea on a daily basis well this is costing the skilled had to bring in some stuff. Well on an average subjects we can cross to the school somewhere between about 130140 points and we're out to about 260 Koreans so an average business knowledge for over 200. Days absence would have cost probably be a $100000.00 Parys on back probably increasing as the end of this is at the moment and is that because subs are becoming more difficult to get simply because of the level of sickness across the country. I gotta say hard for me to say but certainly that was being experienced out of yesterday because they had the called summer became 10 or 11 subject just before I was able to get one I needed 3 so not this is than I have had the merge classrooms today it causes but frankly the numbers of others that they cannot claim they cannot more doable are normally with police or with those for example and to pay for classes today we have well yesterday we had to 12 so we're anticipating numbers to be severed so that we can merge those 3 classes together but. That. It was very very fortunate that we able to do that because if it wasn't for the case we think about with a different and you were saying that some children may be often on a precautionary basis I imagine that might have something to do with the transfer test happening again on Saturday I think it could be right there certainly we're finding our numbers in p 7 are very very low in days across likely p 7 classes I think we have 3 children and yesterday I think we had 5 present total. At a quick glance yesterday I think only one of those children was actually setting the a.p. Test so. As have contacted me and told me that they will be getting their children off all week that's because we measure just. About also saying that they're also keeping the settlings off to as a precaution just in case things but you know this whole. Saga with saying as well so again it's very hard to know how much of the SOBs is the actual 2nd this or just because Larry from the children's point of view but also from a cycling point of view to protect the a.p. Exam so why are you coping with the day to day running of the school in the sense I know that there was a deep claim at the school on Monday what does that involve And what are the authorities telling him going to bring in Philip in just a moment but for you on a practical level what does it actually mean as a school principal a practical while it's very very challenging and running the school in the in the car or is it difficult times but we're certainly finding that this has made life so much more difficult as just a mostly from a staff member logistical point of view as well without a lot of cancellations of events described as a busy time of year with the telly performances open nights and things so on on Tuesday evening past couple nights ago we had the council our open night and we've been working towards that for quite a few weeks and I had to cancel that event not have to be rescheduled for January and we were also had to cancel the 3 children's book bike by one week to children's that every performance was for find a stage. Ok stage wars let's go to considerable disruption I decide this goes well but in terms of pile invested in preparation for these events and then. Making their arrangements and having to take Laver it's just it's especially when you have his day so let me listen to that it's Son like Collins he's not the only primary school to fight us yes we're aware that schools are facing a very challenging time at the moment every winter we see an increase that many of the winter viruses you've mentioned went revolving bug spreads as such it's really cool if we expect to see this and treat every year I'm protected it can happen within the community so the can be within the home within schools or other settings residential setting some hospitals that brings particular challenges doesn't seem to you more extreme this year for schools to be having exceptional closure days so schools we would see every year we would see transmission of winter a sense within the scope of those POWs chances for them for the parents the good news that there are measures that pupils parents and teachers can take to try and stop the spread Ok what if anything well 1st of all if a child has Barbican diarrhea the most important thing is that they are not sent to school we would urge parents to keep them at home while they are sick for a further 40 at ours after they recover because they are very infectious during this period if children have spread realises coughs or sneezes they should be at home when on well when they are in school even encourage them to follow the catch it then that so as to sneeze and the handkerchiefs dispose of them the ban on immediately to wash their hands and also every child in Northern Ireland will have the opportunity to have a flu vaccination over this winter period and we would encourage parents to larger children to take this up as the science whose office this is the most effective way of preventing spam within schools and within the wider community just basically on the day. If you're offered a flu vaccination within the next week or 2 and perhaps your school like Kalinski has been affected is that the right time to have that vaccine production I would encourage practical the boxing action as it's offered to them because there's a slight period between a boxing ring and a start up becoming a fact of working for children to get the boxing assume it's possible so it's important a lot of respect to start to think the school may not be fit maybe costs are cool if a child is very on whale very feverish I'm feeling really out of sorts I'm parents are concerned they should have a discussion 30 k. a Pick some advice about it suitable they're out of actually or whether they require further treatment thank you very much indeed this morning our Dr Phil a veil there from the public health agency and Chris Carney from Clinton primary headlines 22 more than $1500.00 small businesses across the u.k. Who signed up to digital advertising packages could now be left with tens of thousands of pounds of debt because the understands that Labor's agreed to a new strategy to close the gap with the conservatives in the opinion polls and environmental campaigners are calling for supermarkets to increase the price of bags for life to 70 Pete says it is because of either Hello good morning I am indeed and the rain is back in some areas this morning to Currently temperatures are right and it's were 9 degrees and most of Northern Ireland will see some rain for a time this morning early afternoon probably most persistent in kindy dine especially around the arms peninsula but it will also dry up brighten up across eastern counties later on today tonight clear cold with temperatures falling subzero away from the coast and in parts of the countryside and that sets up the same the theme for dry but chilly conditions for Friday in the weekend thank you Cecilia know for the latest in our constituency profiles this morning we're focusing on what's likely to be one of the closest battles in Northern Ireland only 169 votes separated Sinn Fein and the s.t.l. P. And for oil 2 years ago at least in Macau. And won the seat replacing Mark darkened and this time she's facing a new challenge from the leader column Eastwood it's set to be another tight contest and our political correspondent and McCafferty has been looking ahead to that they'd show done. Mixing politics and comedy as a real crowd pleaser in Northern Ireland especially during an election campaign and the city Bristol for a big political show. Tonight coming to you from the Millennium forum in the median city you know when you ask people in the rest of northern if they like Terry the responses like Colin beard paci I. Asked the old p. Leaders trend Mark beard struck a chord with the Derry audience as he was a thank you for your friend the joy of fire Willis. I've been called in 3 weeks I was 1st colonies to it may be feeling the chill in the Hoskins But is he feeling the pressure of being the bookies favorite to reclaim the seat his party held for 34 years no pressures for tires but I don't listen the book is either our political pundits or anything else people are very frustrated that there's no star month to deal with the crisis in our health service today with the fact that our schools have very little Molly that they love the fact a brags of us happening and the very worried about the economy and the job situation and they're also very very frustrated that we have nobody going to Westminster to represent. The Shinners in here this week we're going to be taking our seats are devoted to I. They wear and they give their fine candidates a rising reception. To even try more Donald Trump like maybe I don't think gave. Police make a living and pay for following a leash McCallion won the battle 2 years ago with just 101. 69 votes to spare she's confident of retaining the seat and has no regrets about staying away from the House of Commons Well of course I do go to Westminster quite regularly I don't fall asleep and that's the difference. In Westminster when I I've been the m.p. For 4 and I for just over 2 years I have delivered for the people of foil and that time the single biggest investment that we've ever seen and to this region has come as a result of the hard work that I have done not in the green benches of the house is a common but directly engaging with the British government and maybe a straight shooter between Shane fan and their pea but the 5 other candidates in there is one have a big say in the final outcome and the past unionist voting tactically have helped the s.-t. O.-p. But not this time according to the do you piece Kerry Middleton. People who will say. That there's not much difference between. The pact the north Belfast and Unionists will say well we want to. Share the Pratchett gets Daum and for that reason we will be putting. Into force a known elected politician in Northern Ireland Dr McCluskey is standing on a pro-life ticket and could take. The s.t.l. Pay well the reason council election success is for Alliance and people before profit might see their vote share increase. The blame game audience play their hand and next month's election I need to get back and get their act together and look at the important things you know I was in the damage just for nearly 40 years I need to do something right. Here we're going to just go through the motions again and have another election the same people in the same things the same display those are the same rhetoric where we left the left still in the political right to marry for 1st Minister. I would go with that I would go with Definitely. Well ask him today you know 1st minister he would get your vote yes you get most people's vote. There you go and you can see the list of candidates for 4 and the other constituencies right here on the bt news and I website it's 828 tributes have been paid in the u.k. Australia and beyond for the writer and broadcaster Clive James has died at the age of 80 he rose to prominence for dry wit and Reich commentary is a columnist and a presenter hosting among others the show Clive James on television among his many talents he was a poet and a singer and 2016 he told the b.b.c. That despite his illness he was in his prime time at the peak of my career. No question of a better brighter now than I ever was and here's the secret I got more to write I can write about life when it is inside you get a perspective on life you never had before I was just too dumb and too energetic I was just moving forward at the high speed of a thread to. I was reflective much more reflective of a few who have known the talent better than Lord grid the former b.b.c. Chairman who as a director of programs at London Weekend Television helped launch Clive's career in the late 1970 s. Or great a very good morning to thank you for joining us you know you would have known him then at his dumb and energetic phase as he put it but what did you see him you told him you were going to make him a star I took him out to lunch and told him that and. All his criticisms t.v. Critics in the in the Observer which was hilariously weak it. And I had seen him being interviewed and doing the opposite television and still we all thought that although you say that he had a really original original point of view and a ready wit and was made for t.v. He was curled up to its throat and quite shocked to about September you're going to be a huge technicians. And he loved the limelight he said he'd crave attention since the age of 4 yes he was slightly conflicted in the in a very agreeable way. Soon as he became recognizable face in the supermarket began they will anybody take me so they know I'm serious but but he loved he loved both sides of the coin of his life being a serious intellectual with with a lot to say very well read and. So on but also copula touching and it is a great true dichotomy isn't it a man as you say a great intellect who made his name doing what you might call that well trash is the wrong word but you know. That low level t.v. Series which were hugely popular Yes but it was a vehicle for his wit and his turn of phrase and that lovely soft city voice of his . His soul who he loved to laugh he saw the absurdity of life and the absurdities of popular culture and gentle from. What what about of camera or off the page man was he the same in real life. Absolutely he was a most engaging fellow he was. Somebody with his intellect. And his gift as a cab he was a wonderful listener. And he was just great company my goodness are we going to miss He had a long illness some 10 years since your diagnosis and as he said there I mean he did a lot of things in the latter years that will be part of a lasting legacy not least that poem but the maple tree yes absolutely but I think I think his collected writings. His journalistic prose will be read for for years and years and years and years and if you want to good law and and real rich you know which you'll read Clive James It's all over the food supply people on the spot like this Margaret have you one anecdotes which illustrates what you will remember him for. I remember some of these phrases I can say this but he wrote like when I told our 1st hit the airwaves on the b.b.c. All those years ago the original if he took a good state any column in the year. And he said he said you need to know he said that it is and is an anagram of old craft. Going To Do you ever that was Ok Margaret thank you very long the Lord reminiscing about him and he made a star of Clive James who's died at the age of 80 just gone half past 8 as of the news now with Henri Foster b.b.c. News understands more than 1000 small businesses across the u.k. Have signed up to digital advertising packages which could not leave them about 10000 points in debt the company running the scheme by no Media Group which is based in Bangor appears to be on the brink of collapse the businesses which signed a 3 year contract have told the b.b.c. The debts will cripple them McMahon from the Federation of Small Businesses. Has called for a government task force to help affected businesses since we became aware that working with the consumer kind soul with police with the Small Business Commissioner while all are very sympathetic to the plight of these businesses it seems that none of them have sufficiently wide powers to intervene on their behalf what we would like to say is that all of those parties and government departments were placable get round a table and consider what additional powers might be needed to protect small businesses porters and drivers are among the staff at Belfast City Craigavon Musgrave Park and Omaha spittles who are beginning strike action this morning its part of Northern Ireland wide action by members of Unison the largest health workers union here over pay and stuffing is she's the strikes are staggered a different hospitals over the next couple of weeks the principal of a county down primary school says his school has been badly impacted by high levels of people sickness many schools across Northern Ireland are currently affected by an art break off the winter vomiting bug and Chris Curry who's the principal of killin she primary school says it's been a challenging time but it's certainly finding that this is me so much more difficult mostly from. Out of the consolation to provide. The kind of year we're literally performing. Queens University and also to university have fined $58.00 students in Belfast's holy land area for anti social behavior since the start of the 20th academic year they've been complaints from some residents in the holy land for a number of years a bite of the social behavior especially during university term time students at both universities have been fined a total of over $6000.00 points since August 28th and that's all from me until 9 says whether. Good morning to it so let's start this morning particularly across parts of County down in Belfast there will be some rain some showers many places for a time this morning early afternoon and. Then it'll dry up again from the east and brighten up across the eastern Congo sunshine relatively mild today as were 9 degrees although temperatures are forming over the next few days tonight we're expecting a frost as that turns dry and clear on a lot of dry weather to come Friday in the weekend but it will be chilly and if you're traffic and travel Here's Breck this in a bypass the street is slow moving this morning as is the m one at the Lisbon services the governor road is also very busy as well as a middle road from the high sport and the m.t.a. At Sandy dies and Donald there are long keys on the operating at are just past the hospital at stony road heading towards Belfast and looking ahead to tonight in Bali Castle the Christmas tree lights switch on will take place at the diamond. Straight from 6 o'clock until half past 8 and delays are expected in an hour and the area parks with sport morning good morning again defending champions Liverpool will lead at least a point in their final group game at Salzburg to guarantee reaching the last 16 of the Champions League after a 11 draw at home to Napoli the Reds would have gone through as a group the winners with a win but needed Lovren equaliser to avoid defeat it's clear that b. And wanted to decided tonight we knew before the game long before the game it would be difficult tonight against knobbly because it was a loss of the because we'd always be difficult such a good side the Ripper had balls you're going to clamp the Chelsea manager Frank Lampard admitted his side were lucky to take a point in the 22 draw against Valencia their place in the knockout stages looked secure when they lead to one but conceded 8 minutes from time before holding on for the draw that means Chelsea may have to beat legal in the final round to progress 5 teams had incredible chances maybe their chances are more clear cut and I was at times so I wouldn't how fortunate I mean in terms of did I love the match and I didn't love it because there hasn't been many times you say that more of had this high. But we can't. That and today was one of the it was a nice big opportunities in the Europa League wolves are away at Sporting Braga Arsenal home to Eintracht Frankfurt as are Celtic against Iran Rangers go to north and the Manchester United manager all a goal a thought Shy says their Europa League group stage a tie against the standard this afternoon is the perfect opportunity to blood some young players United have already qualified for the next stage while a Stana are out of contention franchise 18 months squad features 14 teenagers with 10 yet to play a 1st team game it's a fantastic story to see him coming back. Max very early after I got the job and to have seen hese journey back to full fitness and the way he's conducted himself he's been through something that no one should have to go through but he's come through on the other end he's an inspiration for all the players. And it's all a talking about his young defender Max Taylor who's the WHO's recovered from cancer it was a bad night on the ice for the Belfast Giants losing 5 nil at the Sheffield Steelers and they are lead the Elite League by 3 points and rugby Ulster will be with ard will Addison for 4 weeks after he was banned yesterday at a hearing in London for a dangerous tackle during last Friday's champion's Cup win he'll be missing from tomorrow evening's visit of the Scarlets in the pro 14 as indeed will be the scarlet 2nd row to veto. Who is serving a 3 week ban after being sent off against too long and getting football clown temperate and Maman paired with a Korean does he moan are retiring from the Internet trying to game another u.k. Snicker championships in York Northern Ireland's Jordan brought in was a 62 winner against Mark Joyce and Barry Hawkins admitted there were plenty of nerves as he made a 147 break and on his way to a 62 1st round win. Over Jerde green the world number 10 compiled the 16th maximum in the tournaments 43 history in the 4th frame to lead 4 nil before closing our victory on day 2 at the York barber can oh yeah I was feeling a bit at a loss. You know took a deep breath I think on the on the play. Madden a. You have plenty of the in practice and stuff so but you know to do in the rain or in match conditions you know and big big crowd in it. Here is nice Kernan all finally in tribute to the late great Clive James he once said whoever called this nuclear chess with balls was rude but right. He was a great great. Unbelievable Ok thank you very much today's our park at the exactly 20 minutes to 9 are here on Good Morning Ulster we've talked a lot this week have a about health workers here taking industrial action there are reasons why and the impact it's having on patients and services today unison members are on strike for the 4th day action that's due to run until December the 18th and on that same date nurses here are expected to stage a full walk ahead of industrial action by the Royal College of Nursing the 1st and over 100 years so what role did success of health ministers at Stormont play in the problems of today let's put that hour to the d.p.s. Edwin puts a storm of health minister between 20112014 Titian feigns Pat Sheehan Good morning to both a welcome to the program Edwin puts 56 l. 30 health ministers yourself included and evolution that could be said have failed these workers haven't they. I think that when one looks at the circumstances what's prevailed post one detail. I think that. The health service and very very difficult circumstances over the course of those early parts of the term and once we get beyond George George Osborne we start to see them listen once again on their star day and taken away so those periods of a start a war and credibly difficult and you know you cannot Mecca 6 percent. Made that existed within the health service cool way to Mynheer not service without making difficult decisions but each of those ministers were at the helm regarding pay issues for health care workers have as your successor Jim Wells in 2014 who said he would exercise a degree of restraint over pay due to financial challenges that decision led to a differential between Northern Ireland and the rest of the u.k. In hindsight was that the wrong decision a lot came in the back of myself in situation after the other over the previous 3 years was David had a 6 percent a month on the health service was getting around 2 percent more what's largely came from other parts of the executive phones that didn't come from the u.k. Government but do you agree that that responsibility fundamental and the consequences of that decision. No I don't separate sponsibility at all if you actually paid attention to what I was saying I was paying. What I'm saying there is a 6 percent year on year for the health service in terms of that increase we were getting flattery at the lower level the executive collectively chose to over time 2 percent so we managed to actually improve services. Not get assistance partly for over 3 years. This party does not need to continue. The started to flow back into the coffers and the civil servants to choose to go with the u.k. Pay rise of the 2nd place Paliser and change an. Interest in order to be getting the pay rise that they're getting across the rest of the u.k. As of the season has been taken by civil servants that shouldn't have been taken very civil servants and they have no grounds to do that and there's a collective responsibility isn't that the decision to. Parity with the rest of the u.k. Was rubber stamped by the executive and Sinn Fein was sitting on the executive at that time I think you've got your facts wrong and I feel like the health minister and that they are and I thank You that had to rubberstamp that decision I was insane was part of that executive No the executive rubber stamp. Saying he went alone it was a solo around yes absolutely what happened to her sponsor what what had been that moment in there that he was responsible for cotton or strength so that's also a problem that has arisen with the lack of nurses in the system but that one's great moments by this isn't a problem that has arisen overnight and it's a result of 10 years Tory starting and of course the help and probably not the Tories and the result is that both 7. 3 motions short. Of up them protect their lead to distress and ire than average reabsorbed I think we're all very aware of the problems facing the health system but many people are concerned about how we came to this position and they would say it's political intransigence that has led to the situation that we are in and both do you pay and Shin Fein the $2.00 main parties in Northern Ireland were part of the system that created up well let's see the facts are rather than just. A question and I think it's a valid question that many people will be wanting to hear the answer to well you know let's stay with the fact we've had and years of Tory is. When budgets create year on year in real terms and that when we read also when he said service requires a 6 percent and please it's here just to keep Here's what the previous year and burn man there is raising them on an older population people are 11 longer and the pros and places aren't mad at them are going to end up with the problems that we have and now one of Shin feigns position is to restore parity where were the money come from the nurses saying $50000000.00 pines would reap required enough parity was restored then it could see the loss of pay tuition fees and bursaries for nurses which is something that happens in Northern Ireland but not in the rest of the u.k. Well most of the 1000000 this year gone and it is. That's one that's one place where money could be taken from the other question I would ask if the permanent secretary has gone to Julian's method of the police treasure more phones because we need extra funding for the health service. Decreased for the last 10 years in real terms are we going to provide the same services that we were pervading previously hadn't heard such and they're suggesting that the decision taken by Jim Wells in 2014 was a minister acting on a solo run was that your understanding or did the executive rubber stamp that decision. Potter and the executive at the time so we can't tell you because we've gone through the executive what I can say is that I didn't cut. Classes during the day that we are tacklers perjury which was happen often tells where. We are totally committed to turn that we have adequate numbers of nurses time at home and that we face a number of nurses and I believe that at this moment in time given the problem that we have we should have a radical Evan Tracey over the course of select number of years of nursing places for training and we should also be going on. Charm offensive with Versus are considering leaving the profession because we are losing many many high quality nurses because they're stressed out pressurised whenever it comes anywhere close to retirement that actually option of getting out as quickly as they can. And we should be close enough kills that it evens out in tents and ginseng Patsy and thank you fans turn in the hot seat for the party leader interview on The View tonight by the way someone from the party leadership will be live in studio with Mark Carruthers tonight at 1045 on b.b.c. Latest edition of the Liz series shows the queen the queen mother and Lord Mountbatten conspiring to separate Prince Charles and Camilla but apparently it didn't really happen that way. Again. Obvious to portray stupid naive Yes. So what's the next step families have been spared to date has been set for Camilla to be married to talk about this boy gold All that's missing is for someone to now. Dickie can do it. This is his mess. And there's nothing like that I guess we'll never know certainly makes for a compelling viewing but how do we separate truth from fiction Toby Earl is a t.v. Critic and Jessica store sure is a history blogger Good morning to you both Tobi the crime which I've just sort of got into it is really wonderful viewing but you do it if nothing else that stimulus an interest in the whole history of it. Yeah and I think you know 1st and foremost it should be remembered this is a drama it is an entertainment program just because it's a family perhaps feel that we know very well because of their public profile that the kind of the part they play in our lives doesn't actually mean that we know everything nor does it actually mean that you know it's a macular is the series is the money that's spent on it in terms of recreating the . Gams the costumes the homes the palaces the vehicles it doesn't mean everything about it is unimpeachable and there are conversations behind closed doors which we will never know about and certainly we should exist we should we should really with this is treated with the same skepticism that we would with other films or t.v. Series about historical people and events that we don't know so much about so you know. You can always pick any biopic or any center piece of American history potentially where that we might not be so familiar with and will wonder is that really what happened and have this rushing to where Professor Google to to educate as Jessica was Henry Ford said history is bunk. The drama is much more fun anyway isn't it. It is it's much more entertaining than historian Fred and Michelle we believe but it is just that I mean it it entertainment might then have 3 but if they get hokey and I mean you know if you look at the great works of literature war and peace about the French invasion of Russia the 3 Musketeers even more recently Hillary mantell and her great trilogy about Tom. I mean they have all used drama and fiction to represent history just so they have and history gives us some of the greatest story so I don't think we should count them at all and in some ways I think we do like to give voice to that act and a lot of these are real people. And I think as long as you know that it isn't fact and that it someone to interpretation and that you go and look for the real story I think it's fantastic but yes very fiction I told the writers seek to generate a debate or a just want to get their own we story line in their own fantasy land that I think I think there are some times when people would write is. May not consciously consciously want to stimulate debate but of course when they're writing they may be dealing with topics and themes which will generate conversation and there are times when of course that's mentally intentional. With regards to the crown I don't think I think this is a really Peter Morgan was looking to see if everyone would start wondering whether or not it was ordained by the Lord Mountbatten and then sort of signed off from on . Trial should be a couple of mean I think that's not he's not he's I mean. In the in the most respectable what you're. Going to see the one where Princess Margaret tells dirty limericks in the White House but that's kind of. Thank you both very much indeed it's a lot about the weather well we've got some wet weather rind this morning our most persistent over kindy dime parts of our ma. More patchy elsewhere and it should start to dry out from the east this afternoon with the sunshine in place this still quite mild today but it's getting colder they'll be a frost in places tonight away from the coast and through Friday in the weekend a lot of dry bright weather is to come chilly air that has been but quite nice because it's dry but there will be some frost around. The debts will cripple them married McMahon from the Federation of Small Businesses has called for a government task force to help affected businesses since we became aware of this we've been working with the consumer kind soul with police with the Small Business Commissioner while all are very sympathetic to the plight of these businesses it seems that none of them have sufficiently wide powers to intervene on their behalf so what we would like to say is that all of those parties and government departments were pluggable get round a table and consider what additional powers might be needed to protect small businesses porters and drivers are among the staff at Belfast City Craigavon Musgrave Park and Omaha spittles who are beginning strike action this morning it's part of action by members of unison over pay and staffing issues the strikes are staggered a different hospitals over the next couple of weeks the principal of a county Don primary school says his school has been badly impacted by high levels of pupil sickness many schools across Northern Ireland are currently affected by an art break of the winter vomiting bug and flu Chris Currie who's the principal of the primary school described the situation as pretty desperate at a level.
