In her one and in some cases poly drug case my poly drug is for those who don't know is basically whenever someone takes a mixture of joke so it's believed in these cases the users to occur when along with prescription drugs and one of the people that died was 21 year old Aaron Conner he was fined unconscious and about fast cafe and was taken to hospital where he later died and I spoke to his father Christopher today and he told me that his son had been using drugs for a number of years and he tried to access help but he said to me today that that help just wasn't there in time for him on what was a really low for some it was came jumble you know only as a heart he was very good this moment really good just more carefully it would argue me back and forth over still stuff but no matter what yours came to me one by one get a hold of your old us what he did to me yours give me a whole had to make sure were names leave the house whatever look after mom. Is a good kid a good because he has it as a household name and what kids don't he was just lost in his only world of drugs and tablets and he just it was lost can you talk to me Christopher right her and her started in the vault and those were our sort of winners but sexting. Those stars Morgan gleaming was as cross as Solomon the start of a mob but was a to his devious mixes wrong tumblers of description medication and then he had tried before once and it told me. And we got him off of an evening for good but of the it was Dublin so and Herman as well and to tell me that it's a way livable iss and the time in our new exactly were to go together and having every chip that aren't ever talked about trying to get us started it did he needed to have a certain level of home and then a certain 1st a certain period of time before he met the criteria to get help but I think as the deck was of a chair comes to you and Cheney is held this will be available to be some kind of program that you could take of a veil of I mean and get help no men not we have 21 days or 3 months down the land us no good drugs is going families through and off only a script on their part no man my wife is broken she can't sleep scran says I feel useless because I can manage my wife I'm letting her down at the mouth i have i need to take her from him I need to. Not rebuild but I need to keep make and see if. And this is happened those and I do not want this pain. And Hardy under former This is called those the home of the now former underworld on fortunately and that's their needs and I do not want anybody to suffer who are worse off in other moments Aaron was vilified is that we understand that Di that we turn to families and heroin and other drugs one is 2 months 5 is on us not a screw up on behalf of us we like to sow condolences to the other funniest moment of Lost or children or person thought over them I had to break the news to my wife and I was death of the heart of saying I have to tell my wave and I'll be able also . As there's I don't even still believe it because I will or anger made them and organizations. Support groups there's no peace what else we asked for help we took him to the uses and or their daughter told him of my son may have done drugs but he was lost but he didn't I mean he comes off and how do you tell my wife it all be over the stairs as a script is not right it's not read on below as we all heard a lot of them will never die we have to want is him and that's all we can do is sad business I'm sure you agree that was Christopher Connor whose son died of a drug overdose aged just 21 years of age. Now the strike in the health service unison Olaus biggest health Union started industrial action hundreds of workers were involved porters cagers domestics and those involved in preparing theaters walked out so the Staffie and paid in an unprecedented step the head of the civil service in the public health secretary have issued a joint statement speaking of that deep regret the trade unions all proceeding with industrial action they say it's inevitable that there will be an impact on patients Meanwhile the Royal College of Nursing is due to strike next month with all health unions expected to be involved in some form of action in the next couple of weeks health cause one of my Louise Callie obviously is following this very closely for some my Louise you've been out on the picket lines today he has been identified speaking to people about why they are taking industrial action among them Nicholas Shaw he showed me his mobile phone which has a message from his buying saying he has 5 pints laughed and his bank kind and it's several more days to pay day that's a text message there from the bank to tell me that I was my overnight bounce I got there on Saturdays you can say that a 13 hour sex. And to make sure I have enough to cover track to have a part on the side as a last meal payday which is the 3rd last working day of the month. Now and obviously their pay will be affected as a result of strike action I suppose is in the corner and standing at the picket line isn't easy with these workers being doctor and $40.00 pines for today as for our walk right now my domestics and porters and caterers and those who prepare theaters are involved today tomorrow drivers will be holding the plan cards unison Stephanie Greenwood says members didn't want to do this but they felt they had no other option these workers are demanding fair pay with their counterparts in Scotland England and Wales they have been left behind they take home considerably less money for doing exactly the same job it's a kind of part but it's not Department of Health the face. At the end of the day. As a result of. You care for you know some will never put a patient in danger we will have life and limb covered but we will not be deterred from highlighting the serious these members are struggling every single week to make ends meet. Connor action will be staggered over the next couple of months but even in the rain this morning some members of the public turned up to show their support and bury at the grounds hospital. Between for example the nurses here and the nurses. Just by the storm and government here by champagne and a piece of no government so they have a. Health Service workers Yeah it's controversial listeners will be divided on the rights or wrongs of all this my Louise I see a joint statements been issued by the head of the civil service the public health secretary Yeah this is an unusual step but I suppose it highlights just high serious the strikes might be a joint statement from the head of the civil service David Starling also the permanent secretary Richard Pengelly from the Department of Health and also the Department of finances Sue grey it's a joint statement on the industrial action the civil service leaders have spoken the statement says of their deep regret the trade unions are proceeding with industrial action and the health and social care system. Richard Pengelly said intensive contingency planning is being undertaken to mitigate the impact of industrial action on patients and other service users Sterling says Together with my permanent secretary colleagues I'm very aware of the deep frustrations in public sector work forces and also are told that the $2120.00 budgetary position is hugely challenging there's no easy fixes in our current situation says Sue gray and these problems we have tried and we still believe that dialogue is the best way forward Ok thank you. For the welcome along to the program if you're just joining us let's get a quick reminder of the day's headlines with Jenny T.-Man from kind of appeared in court in connection with the deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants find inside a container in Essex. Seen in the blue sky recently. Is Barack. It will remain a little bit unsettled through the seed name in a few sponsor one weather but many places will turn dry overnight with temperatures dipping to 6 or 7 Celsius as for Choose the it will be quite unsettled the winds will get stronger coming in off the East Coast and there will be some my breaks of Rhian after a rather cloudy and large the dry start tomorrow morning as we make our way through the day the 6 guys should clear a little bit through a lie some rays of sunshine through and temperatures will reach around 11 or 12 degrees Thank you. Looks like same for a while yet they say by the end of the week things will brighten up we wait in anticipation optimistic forever that's the only way to be not a driver from Northern Ireland charged with the manslaughter of 39 Vietnamese people who died in the back of a lorry has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to assist illegal immigration Morris Robinson who's 25 and from Craig haven't appeared at the Old Bailey our correspondent Daniel Sanford was in court in the brief hearing before Mr Justice Eady this murder Robinson appeared by video link from Belmarsh Prison where he is being held the 25 year old driver who was arrested at the time the lorry was discovered confirmed his name and date of birth and then pleaded guilty to 2 of the 43 charges he faces he admitted both assisting illegal immigration between May last year and October this year and acquiring cash that had been obtained through criminal conduct but at this stage he was not asked to plead either guilty or not guilty to the 39 charges of manslaughter he faces or one of people trafficking or one of money laundering 30 miles away at Chelmsford magistrates another man from Northern Ireland 23 year old Christopher Kennedy made his 1st court appearance on charges of people trafficking and assisting illegal immigration a 3rd man from Northern Ireland is currently fighting extradition from Dublin on manslaughter charges a man Harrison is accused of being a lorry driver who dropped off the seals trailer containing $39.00 people from Vietnam at the port of the burger before it travelled on accompanied across the English Channel is Daniel Sanford reporting from the Old Bailey. A young woman from Belfast who traveled to Turkey for breast reduction surgery has had to have her left breast removed because of an infection it's the 6 patients who travel abroad for treatment that surgeons of the else the hospital have had to treat on their return doctors say the public must be made aware of the dangers Amanda White who's 29 has been speaking to b.b.c. News lines Tara Mills who's with me now this is a terrible tale Tara what happened it is Connor and Amanda White is a beauty therapist from site fast she has 2 young sons and she's in the else to hospital after a pretty traumatic couple of weeks am I went to see it this afternoon she travelled to Turkey in November had the operation on the 6th of November came home and then I had developed a very severe infection and had to go into the us to hospital and Dan has had a partial effect May So the removal of the breast on the left side so going back just to the background of all of this you know why did she want surgery in the 1st place and I asked that question and she told me why if pain f. Things up and boys wanted to go and I've just got to be better order and I'm able to see if the have the procedure done so at the start yeah good. Partner life plus . And preparation and Martin 2 years also. Preparation. What we need to get it. To be far it's where I want sorted by a lot of celebrities and want to protect her that I would follow on Instagram so I think a lot of work that they were Dan with her and. At the time I was going to have it done here and I thought what a way I see it and someone I and it was a good idea seeing all established that being here and next thing everything went well number up well above. You know really what's happened when you went it will start with t.v. It's strange because from the minute we went then you wonder every time it's. 4 or 5 Manson and straight away pos partner not nothing talked about procedure your surgeon anything that's going to happen just straight into the very passport when I at the time there was a guy sit in front of me and I said tell him so once he had obviously picked the passport money I'd say so this is. Because they were sending me confirmation emails basically saying that it was an uplifting implants but obviously I had from the start of the math what I've always wanted done so when I arrived at me I think this is definitely a production and I says Oh it's all a c m c m b It was his words and I was like Right Ok them 2nd question was just obviously because they're gone under arms that it was a lot and he laughed at me and said You're only happened. And I was like Right Ok So obviously for my looks they are bright there was questions that I was like am I going to I think I'm I'm not because I want it done so much as for. The wiring situation for what happened next the film well why she was there Amanda says that there were several things that happened she had the surgery Comite of surgery was in recovery really only for a matter of minutes then she was transported to another place a village the sort of 5 star village that spilled if you go online and look at this particular clinic and she said the village was for young young man and women not just women having various different sorts of cosmetic surgery and old young women either and there are lots of men having these procedures as well and she said it was jam packed she was taken into room told to stay for 3 nights but she said while she was there there was nothing in the room apart from the bad and a bad side cabinet the sheets nothing was cleaned whenever she was there she said she had to wear a corset after the surgery and she did remove it and ask them to wash it. When she brought it back it hadn't been washed she said it one point she felt very very ill and very sore as you can imagine after surgery ask to you know is there some way you know if you got some extra cushions or pillows she said they went in there Camilleri and there's a sofa and they gave her a couple of the pillows from not you know a communal sofa that everybody sort of is setting in and what it might be really quite sick the nightmare so she came home and unfortunately the nightmare continued she felt very ill and actually it was only done to a very close friend of hers he said that you do not look well you really need to go to the doctor about this and that's what happened next so I went to surgery and when they opened it up they says I was not and if you take that to go away. So and. So basically they just removed the majority of breast I mean there has to be so shocking the kids. I thought I'm somewhat of a group where you come across what with able to say to leave my world and so basically they had just said when that well wasn't great had to remove both had to remove all of the work has incurred a patient which if they had and they did leave me I'm grateful for appear so later I'll be able to get reconstruction so that must mean everything to . You as a woman we all know that you know when you think you're going to get something that your voice one. Fixed you're going to come right then it's going to be with you boys one and then the nightmare because but it's great that they're going to reconstruct at a later date. Ha I mean it's really you wouldn't even consider it was a possibility so what did they say was the reason was it just the infection was so severe or what was the reason the reason wasn't faction the nipple had died the blood supply had stopped coming Troy to. Have her and have him go to the rest that she had just died on so I think basically what they're saying is this continent and anybody else can happen anywhere but. The basic question is Where is your doctors and your surgeon that whenever you need them and obviously have half the come to the hospital when I pick up the pieces and don't get me wrong I have done so much for my part it's just it's just not Ok to go way back I think we need to let Kurds know that. It's Don't go away see if the extra couple of and just stay at home where you have medical students that can a radical pain because to go after you afterwards this is a really brave thing you didn't you do it yourself by fair and talking about is thing that has happened is that your motivation and other people up for it I like it and think I'll stop here and we're not really trying get the story. I thought it was going to be Ok everything was amazing this is the best thing ever a tree going up a trail enough people need to know not to. Whom poor mom means a silent you taled Torah and you do see a lot of these adverts full this surgery abroad you tell me this isn't an isolated case no far from it and I think that's why the Elster hospital was very keen their consultant plastic surgeon one of their team Allister Brian was very keen to talk to us today they have seen 6 cases recently that they have had to treat it's a fact why we were there today another patient was admitted and they had been away for abdominal surgery and he had gone wrong and they luckily it's not life threatening and they don't have a supposedly it's not a severe case there's a mandate for them to sometimes have to pick up all the pieces from this box 3 abroad Yeah and it's definitely happening more and more and really Mr Bryan wants to get that message right. The consequences potentially in these cases can be very very severe this pace and lost a lot of tissue it's going to take us quite a long time to get all of this put back together and in some cases we simply comp will some of these patients are going away there's been a paper published from this unit and recently it has shown at least 6 cases summer of going away to countries including areas in Europe or India of hot again areas in the body or proven wrong for cosmetic reasons with disastrous consequences not just in the pace and overall service that we provide on how do you feel as it don't you when you see. Surgery that's clearly not. Anybody can get complications the thing about it is that they have to hop on more importantly what is put in place when they do hop I'm not is what we're trying to get across in the message that we need to get to the public your surgeon needs to be accessible to you and you need to be accessible to them 247 if we can get another in early stage correct the problems correct uses of hop and we may be able to solve these things where ability to something but if it's left days or weeks this can have disastrous consequences and sometimes life threatening consequences and it's great to see somebody coming in today even know that he we did have another kiss arrive top of hard surgery elsewhere again that was for correction of abdominal wound thankfully from what I'm told it wasn't quite so severe it will require a long period of care given to them by the n.h.s. Because simply the provider is on able to provide that from another country so what do you think I don't know I think you know there's an influence there that people get they look at the Lebanese they see cheaper I mean it's quite easy to get into that kind of or take them away go and get this done I do you feel like that's very concerning because of those look for a truck to the unwary patient looking this is the Internet it's sold in a certain way but believe me it can be false economy. Cheap job can end up being a disastrous very expensive job can affect somebody for the rest of her life it's important sure that the surgeon you're going to has a correct training and the u.k. We have very strict training process for a specific criteria the surgeon must meet before they become a consultant and they're put on the g.m.c. Specialist register the g.m.c. . Are society the prices so he's a pos reconstruct them in Suffolk surgeons scrutinizes what we do from year to year looks at our art comes looks at our performance and this is very well as this is very well scrutinized by these by these consuls or whatever. Surgeons across the water or elsewhere we don't know what as similar criteria they are subject to we don't know early maintaining or skills other or comes looked up to they have the same level of scrutiny as we have a new u.k. Also the establishment itself it's important to ensure this stop us from you're going to is see if one comes up the standards and those around are the arch and sure that our hospitals are for a very high standard and similarly is this happening in the these Am areas abroad we simply don't know but certainly in the u.k. And the north we have these standards with her see if guarding patients and protecting them the equipment the soused of a piece goes abroad the say they have implants for breast augmentation do we know what those implants are do we know that they have the c m c If the mechanisms of Ensure patience if the in the u.k. We just simply don't know Dr. Enormously very exercised as well he might be in that line earlier on from a man when they just said possible money I mean that should have really sounded very abrupt didn't it what about this clinic in Turkey then Tara one of they saying well because we contacted the clinics today comfort zone surgical and their base and in a statement they said as with any surgical procedure the biggest risk is infection and this can happen to anyone in any country where obviously very sad to hear this and are happy to make. Any free corrections she may need in the future Ok Tara and the serial Newsline Yes at 630 because Kate thanks very much for bringing that story to us just let you know what's coming up on the program between now and 6 the Alliance Party has launched its election manifesto today I was talking to its deputy leader Stephen Farry live on the program in about 10 minutes time about the alliance manifesto. Let's go to our now of the latest on the roads well for those heading south towards Nuri reports are just coming in of a multiple car collision on the a one between La and Nuri So slow down and take extra care on approach as the outside lane is reported to be blocked their laps heading south between Loch Brookland and Yuri Meanwhile traffic remains very slow leaving Belfast on the m one after a 2 car crash near Don Murray that's on the hard shoulder but traffic still tailback on to the West Bank but also reports of delays on the airport road in the Belfast Harbor estate is a 2 to a lane restriction which is holding up traffic going towards the airport road west and the north part of the Carrow railroad in are more remains closed following a serious crash thank you you're listening to be extra It's about half past 5 let's get a summary of the day's news a journey a lorry driver from crag of an accused over the deaths of 39 migrants in Essex has admitted plotting to assist illegal immigration Morris Robinson he's 25 from from Laurel drive pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey in London to conspiring with others to assist illegal immigration between May last year and last month police have said parts for a bomb were picked up by a child in your area at the weekend homes were evacuated yesterday afternoon while Army bomb experts carried I'd a controlled explosion on the items which were find at Violet hell in the city a place of just released the details of what was fined members of Northern Ireland's largest health workers union are striking over pay and staffing levels unison represents a bite $20.00. $5000.00 workers including nurses social care staff support services but not doctors the 1st phase of industrial action will run from today Emslie it 10th of December and fears to you will run to March next year the Department of Health says it's working hard to limit the effect of strike action on patients and many lectures and support staff at Queen's University and Australian of our state have begun it stays and strike an action over pay and pensions management adds both universities have sad that they'll attempt to minimize disruption to classes and lectures the World Meteorological Organization has warned that grain rice gas is in the atmosphere reached record highs last year there were above average rises and levels of carbon dioxide methane and nitric oxide Conner thank you very much indeed now the alliance lead and Naomi Long says this general election campaign is one of the worst she's ever fought in terms of smears and lives Naomi Long was speaking as she launched her party's general election manifesto at a Belfast hotel the party which has no M.P.'s the last Parliament is standing candidates in all 18 seats in the long and loud say we are joined by the party's dept leader Stephen faeries Stephen Farry when it comes to manifestos I suppose the Bracks it is you is very much top of the agenda you want a fresh e.u. Referendum What's your thinking on that what we're getting in the corner absolutely even this is the core issues that this election was not the only issue and if we look at other issues right in our public finances what we do on the environment climate change directions and the ivy cooperated with in Europe is structural to all of us but only pressure question itself in 3 years on from from the referendum we don't oppress the self is a really bad idea have been there is no good or sensible practice of the Johnson type of selfless disagree universally criticise Rudd cross the border and North not including from from the business going to help me to reservations about it's so. We think we need we need to rethink the entire approach in that regard in the clearest most democratic way of doing not as 3 people's votes because of the laws of our referendum initially we do need to go back to the people and ask them for years on are they happy or do they want to change course for me and must be an option on the ballot or well many people would argue the clearest democratic option is to accept the original the u.k. Wide referendum result but you won't accept M.P.'s of being given the chance to vote on multiple occasions but for some high the people of u.k. Themselves are told well you can only vote once and that your opinion is no longer being sought on on these issues and indeed we have well over a 1000000 young people who joined the actual rules over the past 3 years and 3rd future we're talking about here they deserve to have the right to say and indeed the may well be some people given what us and I come across who want to change their mind and aids or some people in Northern Ireland very clearly back back to 3 years ago and I can see in the the consequences implications of opposition and going actually well maybe we're better off staying so for all those factors think it's important that we we do have this vote and this is something is going to affect us for many many years to come to affect every single one of us important opposition is called right we're not locked into one decision taken a lump like the day 3 years ago Ok so you put that one to the people you're also looking for fresh assembly elections in the snowstorm and deal by the 13th of January Do we really need more elections to the well I think something has to give in the context of the assembly. What happens and Westminster election and the future direction of decisions in London whatever that could have an impact on not but we have we have to stay on that situation with our talks process after talks process not have made the breakthrough and I are understanding is that the 2 governments are keen to have a fresh talks process right. After the election. And the week before Christmas some were shocked and shocked the op for top what would be an election settle Well I think we'll try for Actually everything else and I think again the people have the right to have their say and say as people well are going to be punished for being intransigent in terms of hijacked electorally things and people who maybe have different ways of doing things make it a stronger amount that not may well shake things up but that's always where and this consul still met and as you know and all the programs when covering covering office constant prices in terms of the health service which is only getting worse we have a sluggish economy with problems on education system we need to do more in terms of skills so host of issues are but building up and people are rightly frustrated something has to give or not regard in the more immediate future of course we've got the Westminster election the general election how many M.P.'s do you realistically think you can return to Westminster but we're not getting a firm target on not Connor about that we're starting fighting as to when and when so it's. Starting the areas where we have some very good chances but the people generally back our values in our vision for society. On the numbers then you never know every single person was under every election with the intention of doing their very best and wedding and if look back with us what happened with us this year we even surprised ourselves in terms of while we did in the little government actions and then with winning the seat in the European parliament through now we long 3 weeks later talked about this great raft of people who wish to remain in the e.u. In Northern Ireland but of course Alliance is fighting every one of the 18 constituencies and fighting against all the remaining why why and he made that decision we believe that offering the electorate the choice is important people have the option to vote for the alliance vision of values and we back our people as being the people who are best fist to. To represent those values mean we are here as a player the party believing in our particular message that may well be commonalities with other parties but if we didn't believe in and ourselves then them where it was actually take taken a step back at this wrong to treat electorate of some form of commodity that you can trade with with other parties they're there every single full trust the earn from 1st principles and every election and people will often meet its own decisions as to what this think is best and they protect their position say in terms of how they can have the biggest impact Alliance also says this is a climate and lection then you've got several policies in your manifesto about that jumping on the green bandwagon post reagents on bug and the extinction rebellion Well I think this is something that everyone needs to be addressing and go back to last year Connor you had the international part of the governmental panel on climate change talking about the need to reduce emissions by 50 percent worldwide by 2030 if we don't where in a serious serious difficulty as a planet falls to places like the u.k. And a c. Or Northern Ireland had to show real leadership not regard and we can't afford as a package back to pass the buck to other parts of the world or to lay things ourselves as if we don't set them vicious targets I'm precious hours hard then this is going to be done on the come a cost down the line in terms of or adverse weather conditions and impact on people's lives on things like global poverty and migration flows are going to be extreme So we have to get this right and get it right and the very near future plenty of manifesto commitments from Alonso looking down the list to close the public sector pay gap calls for independent review into education repeal the Bedroom Tax integrating housing an elected House of Lords I mean a lot of thought has gone into this are you a great manifesto man yourself finds the confidence kind of in the media I mean yes I mean it may be do you help drafted I was going I. We how that we probably have our own our own policy David do most of the work and I regard I stand right I was bad maybe just advising people but we have gone into great detail and manifestos for the selection of others because we take elections seriously we were going through. The hope of representing people and putting ideas on the table and it gives an indication of what we feel is important as a party and also how we're going to vote on the different issues on the spot a 1st off the rads alongside our some to manifest to an european a look at the government of festivals so we are focused on the issues that are our relevance to what M.P.'s country and what was a Westminster does have implications for us in Northern Ireland even in areas where we have to evolution because what are big labor toes and so on things will have some people cause of effects terms of what options we have or don't have well it may well be some sort of programs that we can and intercourse that happened to you and done very ourselves Stephen Fareed thank you both seem very on the alliance manifesto and we'll be hearing from the other parties when they release them manifestos we'll be hearing them all this very program so in the meantime you'd like to know what the weather's going to do to well it because the Misty was showery rain tonight some heavy especially in the east it will become a little bit drier possibly night with as a few clear spells in the West but still some rain and generally mucky with extensively patchy fog developing for more of the same folks I'm afraid I can't give you any sunshine or blue skies not until the end of the week anyway. Now you learned to read something. In the name of presenting the fashion Good to see it until he's full if we're told he casement pock and the lack of a decision you're mocking this cause is actually a 1000 days since the 2nd planning application was lodged for the development of the case above but no light at the end of the tunnel no new light cone or as it stands as you say this is the 2nd planning application as submitted in fair be true . The 17 initial planning up location lodged in 2011 it was quashed of course after objections from residents who argued that the stadium was too big of an effect like in their homes traffic congestion and things like that at today at Chairman of Casement Park stadium development project board Tom Daley has issued a letter to all ga units and Ulster to communicate a deep frustration that the plans as you say for the new prevention of stadium has been parked continue to be stilled by a long running process and it's around this time of year that the country committees mate they have their conventions their a.g.m. So they review 2019 so I'm sure that the intention from Tom Daley was to keep this high up on the agenda. This is the only show in time for the Ga the provincial stadium up from Park clearly if we didn't achieve plan and not something that we're planning for we're not planning to feel that surely they would have to look at our circumstance but for the pain being all roads are leading hopefully to a positive planning consent we do look on enviously the i.f.a. . They have held marches recently bring in the best teams in the world in the Netherlands one of the best rugby take teams and club rugby Clermont to Belfast we cannot wait to bring the best corners and footballers to the Newcastle park and that's what the praises for us yeah sort of a lot pending as it were about the Department for infrastructure anything from but we have heard from them so she said this was part of a Department of Community stadium development plan Tom Daley references and which was launched in 2011 which has seen the redevelopment of Windsor Park the National City Windsor Park and of course at Raven Hill a king's pond stadium or even host so the g.a.a. There they're wanting to see the same office in 4 months and we have heard from the Department of Infrastructure as you say because infrastructure is the department dealing with all of the residential issues and they say they recognize the importance of the planning application they appreciate the frustration however they say it's a complex proposal and it's essential the planning process is progressed and I threw a fair and objective manner they said they're working hard to progress the planning application to the point where it is ready for a decision to be made and the next stage is will depend on the political legislative legislative context that applies that point so you have a legal drug old Meanwhile full Sergio in trouble yes absolutely he is indeed his manager Pep Guardiola says that would need America to be fit for the Manchester derby next month on the 7th of December he picked up a thigh injury in City's win over Chelsea on Saturday which kept him wood which will keep him out rather for a few weeks one game in the Premier League tonight as well as Aston Villa host Newcastle the largest one point above the relegation zone and their manager Dean Smith says meant. And in good form at home is no essential forms going to be the most important thing about the season with perform well at home so far we were of fortunate going to live or felt. Sports are they sure that's off the 6 let's get the headlines knowledge any 2 men from kind of a arm are have appeared in court in connection with the deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants find inside a container in Essex last month. The 1st phase of strike action by many health workers in Northern Ireland over pay and staffing levels has begun and at lectures and support stuff at Queen's University and Ulster universe state have also been striking over pay and pensions thank you and you want to know what's holding you up on the roads even and your woman I am what's it looking like well we've had confirmation that there's been a collision on the a one heading south between Loch Brookland and near Moss road we're just hearing that police are in the process of closing the section of the a one so be prepared for delays heading south towards Noori this evening Meanwhile leaving Belfast traffic remains very slow on the am one on the way to I to Hollywood and on the m 5 towards rush park and the north part of the Carroll railroad in are more remains closed following a serious collision there this afternoon thank you very much indeed now as we heard earlier in the program 5 people have died from suspected heroin and prescription drug overdoses in great about falls in just 2 days the deaths happened 2 weekends ago one of those was 21 year old Aaron Qana his father Christopher spoke to our reporter Kelly Bonner. News held this would be available to be some kind of program that you could take of a veil off and I get help no may not we have 21 days or 3 was done then us no good drugs is going fall news it's ruined off the script on their part moment my wife is broken she can't sleep scran. I feel useless because I can manage my wife. I have to take her off moment I need to. Not rebuild but I need to keep my kids see if. And this is how. And I do not want this pain. And the hardest under former this is cause harm. Christopher Conner talking to Kelly on a quest for Sun Arran and died he was taken to hospital when he collapsed in a cafeteria but they couldn't save him and there was just one of a number of people in a very short space of time and just shows you how serious the situation is so joining us to discuss this further on evening actions even We've got Paul McCusker who runs a soup kitchen in sympatric church in North Belfast Sam McCulloch from addiction and I and Seamus Mullen from the public health agency and Sam I'd like to come to you 1st because we're talking about addiction here we're talking about addiction in these cases are extremely serious drugs like heroin and maybe mixed up with other drugs as well you don't mess with that sort of stuff here. Just like the Star office and this is also faced very sad listen to her and starve her. People use a range of drugs for lots of different reasons you know yes what we are she and I as an increase in opiate opioid use such as drugs like this that occur. But where a lot of the risks are coming from is what we called poly drug use which is really mix in drug use and I can about alcohol included. In those were people mix in prescribed medications alcohol use another illicit drugs like Mexico and when it comes to life and death that can be like Russian roulette sometimes can't it of course when you're looking at some of the individual factors that that a person could be experience with and maybe on the one to some on the land health issue 6 after. Really is sometimes taken in your life in your own hands but what we would have phases you know is if people are always going to use drugs and of course should see it for or see 1st for many people not that it drugs at all but for Also it's always a back of the at facial or sort of people people are choosing to think folks are supposed used to see if we as possible you know that's hard to face and and. Any sort of false image of glamour is swiftly dispelled when you talk about the likes of young Arran and also the 4 others in the space of 2 days who died on that particular weekend which is shocking by anything this isn't of course it's that ethics just to think that that's 5 families general impacted over the last few days and something though that we do in the know happens across drug and alcohol services as a very trying to better engage with people who use drugs and sales still they're the people who can tell us what's going on they can tell us what their new lead is going to bring pull in because you run the soup kitchen Paul and you've been on this program a number of times and spoken to me about this thing what what sort of insight can you give us into what is going on on the streets at the moment it's a start start off you know in the Senate that was didn't hear the death and behind every death is a person and a family that's grieving and we have to think of those families tonight as well he clearly need support as well but I mean it's a very frightening picture it there on the streets and I spend our time on the streets every weekend for the my work the soup kitchen at last began we had 4 overdoses at the soup kitchen which needed intervention from a medical terms that I'm in service and exactly without giving people sort of privacy away I mean what what sort of instance are we talking about people as the mentioned people are using high level drugs we have been reason this issue with the increase of people you interact in her one and Belfast compact a year and you know half ago and that's the biggest frustration for me as I feel that the no one's listening but we see increasing numbers are use and we're seeing less increase and access quite often that the media support isn't there so I mean speaking to various drug charges and speaking to other Hamas providers and this isn't just about the fact people are homeless as a fact people and communities right across Belfast were hurt when as been taken I mean you're moving from smoking a bit of maybe on to injecting heroin many people who aren't terribly. Where the same with is enormous gulf between the 2 but it seems the sort of progress can be rapid. It is and it's pose a risk concerted game in terms of high available these drugs are honestly to mean a member in the program before the man talked about how to get her going to Belfast like at the pack of cigarettes so the availability of drugs people and selling drugs that I'm aware of have no fear and seizures are just the tip of the iceberg yet even with the more that sees the more resolve is rerun but I will resolve this means the numbers are there in terms of Unfortunately with amount of death that we're hearing and also of people present and a crisis look in support the figures are there but we're not seeing the response from the partner for health p.h.a. About how we deal with this because terms the strategy terms of the long term impact you know what this is having on communities what is written communities apart from families apart we see that a station a causes and here in armed guards because well we as well nobody would argue about the sort of the need for something to be but done but it's a question of was shameless you obviously in a very good position to talk about the situation from the sort of from the public body response to this sort of thing I mean some people listening will talk about people's personal responsibility and their own color was dicing with drugs from the age of 15 his father felt the system should have helped him can the system help people in extremis like that. I think it is important to note that there are a range of services that are commissioned either by the public health agency or delivered by Belfast trust as well. And a lot of those services can be accessed we have a website drugs and alcohol and I thought on for a lot of those services are planned on there from a public health agency perspective we were involved right from an early intervention point of view as Sam said earlier on you know it's and what they have to recognise that people will continue to take drugs but we are trying to get the message out there out on the. Because of the very idea that you are getting this message right in the face of these sort of very worrying statistics we're talking about you know we're delivering services right across the province to you know from from school a story a lot of that is that what you say you know and some of the services for example that we are providing woman service we recently put in place is a program called take home the locks on. The locks on as a as an interim muscular and Jackson that can I can say that going to a can reverse the effects of abuse and where it's quite literally say or a crisis so for example Wait we've had a run on Belfast NY for about a year and it's been administered over $200.00 times and we know that a success rate of that on ministrations over 90 percent and those over $200.00 cases so but we've already seen that you're going to get a whole new Roach the chief medical officer what you'll be thoughtful I think I mean if you're Mrs Right there are services there and I would say drug support workers and drug charges are working really hard but we're doing things you know there's current models in place that clearly aren't working that we talk about s.p.t. That was the subject ascribed payments delivered by the Belfast trust back a year ago it was a we have over a year we have left for that that has reduced but come back up again and we need to look at how we're delivering services you know and terms of what need is there because if you're in drugs it's going to Jeanne's in terms what people use and we have to ensure we respond enough but from my sort of experience on the streets I can see we're not responding to the new Where are these drugs coming from are they coming over the border from the Republic of they being brought in from England do we know well and terms of her Well we know that her was brought in the Belfast every day on a trip on a transport system so it's traveled on buses and trains often doubling every single day and police presser were less than maybe has reported on this before in terms of the drugs exact science comes from the network of from Pakistan the end going to here because as counterfeit that's not real as Onyx become to prescribe Xanax here and no learn and so the drugs have been transported from other parts. All of it off of Northern Ireland and the Belfast fulfilling this Demond for drugs which is growing Yeah sama mean it's a 3rd of it's a pretty grim picture and there's no immediate prospect of it being dealt with by the sound of things you know think you touched on it our base and the month General underlined all less we how a society of of people who are experiencing experience and sort of extreme vulnerability in their laser best minute and pain general about the homelessness mental health problems found on say shoes release Nature paper and there's waiters to saddle issues that are going on and traditionally it's the drink which can be a killer but it's not as quick a killer as fixing heroin or something like that is it exactly when people are using her especially in tact and you know with them increases risk for that person or. I mean I should say that the Belfast trust has sent us a statement to anyone in need of addiction support can present themselves to Belfast trust drug outreach team which aims to meet the needs of chronic injecting drug users with the people we're talking about specifically as well as alcohol misuses and people using over the counter drugs but as a result of focusing on this heroin problem which is a particular killer. What in terms of priorities should be doing 1st and foremost I think what we need is more investment in terms of you know and also in terms of or form of what the current services are currently doing so urgently you know right now again back to Chief Medical Officer to say listen the needs to be across party and obviously in the whole of government to that's holding things up as well but I think I am so I started a rush to figure out what were coming up to 6 I'd like the last word from you Seamus on that in terms of priorities how should we be addressing this I think it's important to remember we are talking about heroin here but also other drug drug misuse as well so is 3 things to remember for us. It is a and I am a drug can be a partisan so take too much of it on accountability for if you take drugs not prescribed to you at all or mix it with alcohol a contains the talks as a layover to so that can be a potentially lethal. It's for me about trying to understand why these people don't accept services or as waiter issues such as stigma around people using drugs that I know that my organization affects me and I are like another car trying to address sample Shamus Thank you all very much indeed that's it even extra of the producers Peter Coulter and Tom Coulter this evening from all of us very good evening. 41 media.
