So many times that men tend. To get pretty. B.B.C. Radio. B.B.C. Once again for the. Morning this is the this is the last week and all of September so I would imagine in the next few weeks we'll be discussing some of the big Christmas blockbusters Oh yeah that's a good point actually yeah yeah we will the Christmas films get in. But today I'll start with something new at this. Cinema this week what we got we've got skate kitchen this is about a teenage skateboarder who makes friends with a bunch of other female skateboarders in New York City now did you have a skateboard whine. Now you know I can't do it my muscles got a skateboard he's pretty good I never did it when I was little I couldn't even roller skate when I was little my soul I'm exactly the same my sense of balance isn't isn't brilliant yet the same Hey I'm just not very good I remember having a skateboard and not been very good at it and I think it got been doff very quickly by my parents to be honest the thing is with skate kitchen is it will make you wish that you were good at skateboarding because these girls make it look so simple and so cool as well but this isn't just like a hip skateboarding movie this is a coming of age tale about a girl who is figurative Li lost until she finds a bunch of like minded girls who laugh and Joe can skate you know this is a story about finding people the people who you have a connection with and rather wonderfully that's the be all and end all of this film is about friendship you know it's about being there for your friends no matter what So Camille the lead female she's quite a shy girl who lives under strict rule of her mother but she gets this newfound energy because this skateboarding group and it's delightful to watch I mean she's this reserved girl who begins to open open blossom into a laffin and joking and strong adult as well and even when things are down for a her friends are there to pick her up and vice versa as well so the film delved deep into the girl's law Ives' because the camera almost feels part of the group it isn't intruding on them but it's almost like being part of them is another character in the film and the great thing about that is no place is off limits no subject is off limits to these girls openly talk about sex some boys. Yes and all the Oakwood subjects that we wouldn't normally see talked about but a teenager is on camera and it's a refreshing change you know no subject is too big for them it feels very modern feels very open an almost it's kind of like a modern day John Hughes film in that regard and in the past few years we've had some really good standouts coming of age female films there was girl hood from friends and Mustang from to well I think skate kitchen deserves to be recognized as a contemporary to those films because this is a genuinely real film about real people in a real city and it's really good really really good and the beauty of this film is that nearly every single frame is filmed is filled with happiness it's a constant beat film that will have you smiling from ear to ear I thought it was a cooking show off the telly about fish. And now on B.B.C. One skate kitchen with Chef well they even good morning today we're going to cooking called How to salmon get the taters out get the fish helper out you going to love it that's what I thought Yes Anyway let's move on to who 2nd movie not at the cinema this time but on Net Flix That's right well you may remember at the beginning of the year I said to you Wayne Netflix is going to be releasing $800.00 original movies this year straight to Netflix no cinema releases Well they've slightly changed their mind with the cinema releases and next year we're going to see a lot more next flicks his films going to the cinema however withhold the dog it's going straight to Netflix it's on Netflix now and this is a story of a product to resole Cole who was hired by parents of a missing 6 year old boy to track down and locate their son in the Alaskan wilderness now 1st impressions of hold the dog is that it has the same as that sick as Wind River. It's very stark It's very bleak and he is quite bright because you have the snow covered terrain populated by a few people and lots of dangerous animals now that's where the similarities end because Wind River was this very tolt thrilla hold the dog is a movie that has no idea what it wants to be you know this is a film that has some excellent casting we've got Jeffrey Wright Alexander Scar's Gault Riley Keough these are not small names but they look lost in a movie that's kind of lost in itself because it wants to offer a child's story line as the 18 to the movie yet then switch focus to a soldier coming back from Ask Afghanistan and the after effects that he suffer in the movement between both stories is quite labored is quite happy has it as well it seems to want to play fast and loose with how it jumps between them and it doesn't really offer a cohesive link between them for a long time in the proceedings and I think it struggles to formulate a cohesive narrative because of that the film itself is actually very quiet holiday but he speaks above a whisper and when they do they do decide to speak hotly as well as it's very random really you know this long stretches of nothingness in this film and some films can get away with allow in the film and the scene to breathe you know the room just to breathe and do nothing I mean last year David Lynch made his watch a man sweep him for 5 minutes and we were all transfixed by it hold the dogs idea of that is to have lots of shots of snow and wharves and men walk in and that 8 it does feel like there are a lot of extended scenes that just for padding and it doesn't help when you have a plot that runs out to steam early on because it's soley about chasing wolves and then you have this other story line about a wounded Army vet stuffed into it there is one loud and quick scene though and it's a shooting scene between the low. Placed in a local man and it comes so quickly out of the blue that it feels alien to the rest of the slow meandering storyline so it's kind of a shock to the system and I think this is a movie that will question might you question what is eat what is it doing and the answer is quite difficult to find because I don't think the film knows what it wants to do either so all of these ingredients all that for very good slow burning drama but they just don't mix that well what kind of left with a movie just doesn't do any of that pile of poop then it wasn't very good might. Be disappointing it's on Netflix but I would give it a message cause it's not going to cost you anything pacey a Net Flix maybe it's worth just checking it out to see if you agree with Mark because you don't always have to take Mark's words as gospel to the mark This is very true you know this is why we do this film criticism is an opinion and hopefully some people like what I say some people may go against it but hopefully it opens up a discussion and also maybe a chance for people to see a film that they didn't know about I remember many moons ago we had a discussion about a great movie that I thought was great that you did like called the greasy Strangler Yes. Yes Yes I thought it was a great. Place to complete her thing and I really liked it I can speak Tamara thanks wife. Was. Let's. a seventy's disco. Odyssey. B.B.C. . Chatting to my Muffy in the next few minutes about life's a picture this afternoon for me and also hearing from the cast of high society the musical it comes to the Theatre Royal in Bury St Edmunds in a few weeks. I took a bit today the have you been stuck somewhere. Some think. She said When I went. On holiday it was jam packed full of people and I'm a little bit claustrophobic and scared of lifts so I had a panic attack in the lift as well. From metal much of the 10 flights of stairs every tacky little man should you go to. Says my dog stuck in a built in a built in wall drug out looks when shot from the outside it took ages to find whether screaming was coming from. The still time for you to get your story and I a few Was there dancing on the 1st day yes on Thursday she was amazing as always and lovely Also new stuff so I would start and that was about you going around yeah did she have a little gold lamé shots on she didn't have to go LA make your song towards the. End she had boots and shorts at the end so everybody was satisfied there was something for every single audience member there it was a very very broad church of audience there and she she gave them all what they wanted which was great take it cheaper than Ed Sheeran's tickets I don't know what it was it was a gift so I don't know if it was a gift you understand everybody here was bashing away on her stage right there area it was it was Thursday morning in a it was just it was like a different journalistic reasons was enough to see how quick someone could get the mind of the still tickets left for a chair an expensive one so I. Haven't looked at that but on the left think I think if you delve in there quite expensive once the adverts start on the T.V. As well as it was on last night between Corey here all right still avatars it sounds pretty good and you're going to get back standing on the Friday by the way and. You're back today and of course you still come to terms with the fact that Kevin will be here today the bait so we've got lots to joining us on the program tonight not gonna miss coming in from Suffolk F.A. Phil will be in Birmingham Simon or I should like football trackball here as well of course and we however. Harrison Caden Jackson and Grant ward have been little picking on feeding sometimes the clubs accused of not doing a lot for the community but actually they really do do a lot they perhaps just don't shout about it enough I don't know but I was with them earlier this week beautiful afternoon in Felixstowe and they were with youngsters from one of the local primary schools clearing up litter on the beach which they loved but also coming for your outlandish corporate actions placing start texting him now is this going to be the day that we get all 1st win of the season you know is this going to be the day well according to polls and bingo if you knew about that for interview this week the spirit is good in the camp and you know was almost fine do you not think do you not think and I point this out earlier Paul Hertz that there is a worrying tone to his voice when he the star of the season he was quite boisterous but BOY Yes he seems to of big you know his voice would offer the same kind of tone as McCarthy you notice that he picked up well yeah yeah yeah I mean they're all sorts of rumors flying around about him he's number 2 and things are not being well but will say time will tell Tom would tell I mean most people have to say I wanted Mick McCarthy gone on that we so many Texans and I didn't most people did it boring he's Tom was over we wanted a young thrusting manager who'd been successful everywhere else he'd been we wanted young players coming up from the Lower Lakes we've got them how long do we give him to make it work like that's the question there was some interesting statistics in the newspaper the other day about this very thing and he said not to worry 9 games in you only have an 18 percent chance of being relegated so it's still early days isn't it Nya Yeah yeah yeah you know I want to get to develop the I mean look only a few weeks ago we were nip and tuck with no rights we could have ignored you should have ignored that got on a run there up you know upper echelons of the championship nice to get a few wins together and we could do the same. A moment though I'm not saying I got a thing that we couldn't beat 10 men whoever it was LOL to make you feel sorry for Grandma if they don't win today phone it'll be good yes well I mean yeah fans are getting very vocal Now I know you I just checked out what you think I want triple 3 starting with S. Of K. All on the Y. Plus pop music and a $31.00 prediction coming up pretty well for diction Yeah. Wayne plays in Syria morning on B.B.C. Radio something. Who remembers the iconic movie from the 1950 S. High society which starred such stars as Grace Kelly being Crosby and Frank Sinatra well a musical version of high society comes to Bury St Edmunds to the Theatre Royal in October from the night of October and we're joined by some of the cast and also the show's director as well Max clay Hi Max So tell us a little bit about the story of high society for those not familiar with it OK so the story is really centered around Traci Lords who comes from a Big East Coast family and she is some people might call her a bit of a flippity to have it she is a great word that yeah she she married a guy called Dexter a year or so ago and she's already divorced and she's We meet her again on the day before marriage to someone else and the story gradually unfolds of what happened before and we see her have doubts there are a couple of. Spy journalists who come along who stand simply reporting on the wedding but actually digging dirt on her dad's affair with a dancer in New York City and there's clearly something some attraction between Mike the one of the 2 Journal. Lists and Tracy and we think it might go that way. And Dexter is constantly hovering in the background as well so there are all sorts of possibilities and over the course of 24 hours or so including an all night ball and nude swimming in the pool which takes place off stage. This is a Theatre Royal. Yeah we eventually end up with. An unexpected turn of events. Would you class this as a coma D. Musical comedy drama Yes it's very witty It's very fast paced most people know. At least most of the songs they've mostly got lives this freestanding songs as well . And. Our production is very stylish very swish. And to the costumes reflect the fifty's as well will it that it's actually set in the late thirty's that's the period that the costumes are friends yeah let's make some of the casts then 1st of all we have at Jamie McGuire Hi Jamie I know tell us your play I play my Kona and I'm one of the reporters in the show now who's originally played on screen by Frank Sinatra so no pressure then absolutely none in the shoes of old blue ice I think what we'll do is I think we'll start off with a song one of the sums you sing in the show would you like to introduce these for sure this song is called your sensational and this is sung to Tracy in the show you . Know. When you say. That's so Louis. Or sensei So no. I don't care. If you walk or. 2 you're a sensation. Making. Squat I. Want requires a prop her squat to for your. Use. That one find me come to. Your senses. That was sensational. So playing the Frank Sinatra characters so I think we should meet a love interest in this in this musical case he would house you're playing Tracy that yes what a great role Yes fabulous wrote a play I'm so lucky Max told a little bit about Tracy she's quite a complex Carol to tell us more about her yeah absolutely she's as Max said she's on her 2nd marriage and she's quite She's quite judgmental quite self-righteous maybe a little bit annoying as well and she you know obviously ready loved exta and then she moves on to George because it's the right thing to do we say there's a lot of she's quite torn between the right thing to do and how she actually saves a really interesting character to play and how you playing this then Katie have you watched the movie so I have watched the film said the part I play was played by Grace Kelly in the film so enormous she's to Pharaoh I think in a film is slightly different it's almost more subtle than we would do on the stage everything on stage needs to be big at the back of the AM Theatre Royal audience so everything we do is a lot of fun. And that's the approach I've taken to Tracey So Casey has played Tracy Letts mate your eggs husband in the show Dexter Haven played by Alec tell you originally played on the screen by being cross me so again we're playing these these these these roles played by these Hollywood megastars really it is it is weird but it is it's also very challenging they will have their iconic styles and you can't replicate that necessarily one to one so you try and bring your own your own angle your own. Perspective to it just trying to fill the shoes as best you can we've heard from Katie your ex-husband in all this do you do you still do you still love Tracy madly. Decks that she runs away after the divorce he can't actually cope with being close to her because he actually grew up next door and without much of a family of his own he essentially attaches himself to Tracy's family as much as. As if it were his own so he can't deal with the loss he runs away when he hears about her getting married to someone else he can't stand it and he has to come back and see if he can sort things out or at least say goodbye in the proper way I'm not going to ask you how it ends because that'll spoil it for everybody wanted Well yes it would. As a true love story this has all kinds of angles and twists and turns. Some of them are perhaps expected and others not quite so much so let's see an hour probably one of the most famous songs from high society this is true love so. Ready To. To. Thanks to the cast of high society who popped in to see as yesterday it runs from Tuesday the 9th to Saturday the 13th of October at the sea it's a royal Embury site admins you can get your tickets by visiting the box office W W W dot ca it's a royal.
