Oh my words there is about the president for life Chinese style conception motions and will be back in Tinseltown to catch up with people there is a prepare for the Oscars come. There way later on today we'll hear how an a neurosurgeon in the Kenyatta National Hospital in the Kenyan capital Nairobi performed brain surgery on the wrong patient I will be walking on the beaches looking at the peaches with one of the members of the iconic punky group the Stranglers it was supposed to stop the 2018 Tory Niland a couple of nights back but the beast from the East put paid to that. I would make comparisons with former President Mugabe but at a lunch time fundraiser at his monologue property in Florida the u.s. President on a trump praised Chinese China's president Xi Jinping food consolidating his hold on power Mr Trump said he wouldn't mind making such a maneuver himself at the closed door event Mr Trump come and said that he's now president for life president for life. This is. Paying no he's great he said President charm and look he was able to do that I think is great maybe we'll have to give that a shot someday have a listen to. This History Channel. Is now president. Bush. Was you. I. Visit shuffle off a job I'm presuming with these just off the cuff remarks of friend the audience Well Kevin lip attack is C.N.N.'s White House reporter and he's with me now so this was a lunch he was amongst friends Kevin it easy like a very jovial mood. You know he certainly was. Close to or fundraiser there as Mar a Lago State and Florida the president was in high spirits is here there but this was the 1st time we heard him way and season things decision to extend term limits in China actively making it possible for him to serve as president of that country for his entire was prominent in his remarks President terms remarks are cut raising some eyebrows here in the u.s. . It's obviously not something one would expect to hear from the u.s. a U.s. President the u.s. And China obviously economic revival rivals strong strategic rivals in some ways and I think it does reflect the president's warm regards origination thing is obviously welcomed to Beijing very warmly and November changing pain showed him around the Surbiton city he. Orchestrated this grand state welcome hols the people and so I think these remarks really reflect sort of a casual attitude towards China towards China on behalf of the president because initially when he became president he had nothing but a vigil to talk chart in terms of trade and so on the the China was the great enemy rather the Soviet Union would see but you say the things of food in that relationship and if nobody's going to casually enough about each of his positions they can joke about. In a sense in a sense and the president was talking during these closed door of marks about the terrorists that he's planning to put on still in aluminum the president still very bullish on the trade front but in the end when he was in China he actually praised President Xi Jinping for his. Bullish trade move he says any country would act on their own cut on people's behalf and so I think the president has sort of taken the flattery tour that change and paying off are going he was in Beijing to Heart Of course in these remarks he was he was joking he was being lighthearted but it's certainly not something that I think you would hear any past president say about this kind of move and China we've heard a lot about the president's approach to this Mar-A Lago state does it it's not often is that you get a rupee inside behind those closed rules. It's really not the president when he goes down there likes to spend time with friends he's on the state since the 1980 s. He renovated this ballroom himself where the event was taking place he does go down there almost every weekend in the winter he plays golf but when he's down there it's it's really a relaxed kind of mood that he's And he he talks to all kinds of people down there and I think that's a really good place to see sort of what he's what's really on his mind it's he can he can express himself in the way things can always at the White House and especially after this past week when all we have all we have heard is about the chaos the sinking or how with in the White House the president feeling isolated atop his own administration when he travels around tomorrow I go to more of a familiar locale for the most most news for us President we know to run for his 2nd term he's already his campaign manager for that we know it's good to stand again in 20 tried and see. And of course even though a lot of people think it's written into the Constitution that presidents comes to everything it's not how it should is it's just it's just protocol established by was it George Washington the president told not to run run for through. Did you thing a little bit different because actually quite a bit newer than that. F.d.r. Franklin Delano Roosevelt served for more than 2 terms and after him actually was written into the Constitution search certainly Donald Trump is there's not as there's no feasible reality that he would serve beyond 8 years as president but I do think his remarks reflect a sort of. Desire to have this more unilateral. Executive position. And the way that she isn't paying my and your friend and remarks from before he's very glowing towards our critic leaders around the world whether it's Turkey's president airline wherever you go to charity in the Philippines the president certainly has never shied away from offering these glowing assessments of his more out of credit card or parts around the world and some of the I think is reflected in his desire. To not be limited as to executive and of course years limited whether it's by Congress or by the Constitution Yeah when you look at the the world leaders that he doesn't mind as you said it's she's you think an autocrat and. President another autocrat at the very least you don't mean the exact And does he know her since his relation ship with children is quite a bit more complicated given that I'm going investigations in the us into whether or not his campaign colluded with Russia 2016 election but it's true there's litter there's really not a. Lot of around the world that Trump hasn't traits in some way or the other over a course of a. Year and a month since he's taken our Kevin good story to Kevin the c n N's White House reporter and we'll hear more on that story some pointer of a now it's Hollywood's biggest night this evening the Academy Awards live from the Dolby Theater the Hollywood and Highland Center and is presented by talk show host Jimmy Kimmel for the annual awards for the worst of Hollywood were announced yesterday the golden runs rewards also known as the Razzies. Awards and the worst movie was this meet hoop it's. Smooth just doing my duties. He's full of himself. Yeah patching soon as a emoji from the movie which one. Of these ever this year at the Razzies County Pattison could tell us more good morning good morning I'm sure Patrick Stewart is going to file that one alongside his Hamlet on stage. Oh I hope . I think not may I think. I have and I saw the trailer and I made a pact with myself never to see this film it dominated the Razzies though dot net one was picture war screenplay was director worst screen combo for any to him Oh jeez that one award or screen combo I've looked up some of the reviews from the time I got a 9 percent on Rotten Tomatoes that is appalling the New York Post said here that it's the end of the world that was their review New York Magazine wrote It's one of the darkest most Does Maying films I have ever seen while the Guardian in the u.k. Said it was insidious evil I don't think they liked it Dr how does a movie that is that bad get the green light to be made on earth invest millions in making a movie because they knew it would make money it cost $50000000.00 It has taken 2 $170.00 know there's really only the planet Oh yeah oh yeah there will almost certainly be a Moji movie the sequel stage I mean the rass hated this film and their announcement video that they put out east of a ceremony there as I said to go every year no they just unknown sets on a video on You Tube They described it as a film which turned a small digital icon into an 86 minute remote list's motion picture that is an absolute trashing and so they don't have delays even anymore because I remember a few years back when Sandra Bullock. Raz is that was brilliant was it because Moses was there oh you were there I was there yeah I think I'm just the Lord of the pass take care it was the night before she won best actress at the Oscars she won worst actress of the Razzies for all about Steve and she actually brought a cart on to the stage fool with the D.V.D.'s and said I don't believe you guys have actually seen this film and he she gave a copy off the d.v.d. To every person in the audience I went back I watched it it was absolutely terrible Yeah but she's a brilliant actress as friends who comes in they're not only hurt any more than was I know I think I want it back always really enjoyed going I think they tried to turn into a t.v. Show and it didn't quite work so I think they were a bit put out at that and they've and they've cost quite a lot on these to hire a theater in downtown l.a. And I guess yeah. It's a shame isn't it oh so the linkage of Patrick Stewart had the opportunity think of . Going to guy you might. Well ask what now now that we know that it's made millions of dollars maybe he's not such a bad judge of fools after all that's where you want to go. When to resit this year there are about there was bad news for Tom Cruise he won the 1st Razzie off his career for his truly disastrous remake of The Mummy it was opposite Russell Crowe I doing most people even know this movie came out it was a real stinker also a former Oscar what I want to as a Kate Basinger won worst supporting actress for 50 shades darker in that she played Christian Grey's business partner and former love are supporting actor went to Mel Gibson for the really dismal comedy Daddy's home to so big names winning the awards I wish they had the chance to collect them and pass and so it was Kay Basinger not Kim Basinger and just jack you can Basinger desiccate him they sing out Ok just checking just checking So what is right the check was Hollywood like now the night ahead of the Oscars obviously the big the big. You know the big occasion is going to happen in 24 hours and less yet is fixable the last award show off the year is just taken place actually it's the Independent Spirit Awards have been taking place in Santa Monica they are for the smaller budget films films that cost less than $20000000.00 Dot and I've been speaking to someone who thought they weren't going to be able to make it to the Oscars tomorrow night's they were nominated in the documentary category at the Independent Spirit Awards and they're nominated at the Oscars the man is called Kareem Bede He's the producer of last man in Aleppo nominated for Best Documentary at the Oscars it's about the white helmets the civilian rescue squad in Syria they're often the 1st responders after a bombing going through and building. To find survivors of bodies and the Assad government has accused the white helmets of having links to terrorism something they strongly deny but last month after he was nominated Karim was got a Syrian passport was the night a travel visa to travel to the Oscars from Turkey where he lives though he showed a letter from the u.s. Consulate in Istanbul which told him his application been rejected because of President Trump's travel ban on 8 countries including Syria however this decision was overturned in the last few days and there he was a few hours ago on the red carpet Santa Monica with his 2 colleagues who were also nominated the 3 of them were nominated for best documentary and they told me the story of what had happened and I started off by asking them to introduce themselves . One of the producers of last minute a little. Last minute. Producer of last minute I was in the trouble getting in know what happened talk us through the story. I got the support from. The Free to the us and also. From the State Department and make this at the final. For us here in the u.s. When did you find out you were going to be able to go to the final. At the final minutes to give it to us. As a means to you guys to be here at the Oscars I'm so happy that I get my producer my team to come to here to share me this is moment I was all that down feeling guilty like I'm on and I couldn't do it I mean it's hard like to be alone all the time and you know that you're your team is banned because because the administration of trauma and because. That's taken over a very. A large subject because they don't want us like that we feel that we can now share that with. Whitney says about the war crimes in Syria and we can at least call for justice and stopping the boys in the last minute a level that would frighten the government why would they want people to be able to see it or hear it they don't want to see it because it's sure the corruption and shell of. The defendant in Syria and show like that fail to him anything and nobody can stop that and actually that you know today I saw like the Russian mission you know and they mentioned me and they said Your film is burgundy and that's me and how much my films show their crimes and show that their guns would be separated everywhere and would be everywhere are we going to get them to the car with the power of the us how excited are you about going to the ceremony I'm pretty excited this is my 1st time so I'm very excited but most of all I think I'm excited that both with the film and with the fact that Karim and the whole crew of Cinematographers got in it's a political statement in itself partly due to the very unfairness and the wrongness of the travel ban and of the atrocities that are going on in Syria I think it's it's it's only in this very complicated world that we have a grim finally how different is going to the Oscars to your everyday life back in Syria just contrast of course it's not I'm being serious I think yes. When they say it's best for me from anyway and you're looking forward to going home already but we just go you know of course. Until can kind of Independent Spirit Awards we should remember that it is often an indication as to what might happen at the Oscars as well Disney So what was the best film award the interesting one Dalton of the last 4 years whatever has won the Independent Spirit Awards has gone on to win the next day at the Oscars and this is because your low budget film the kind of film is. What the Academy has been going for in recent years remember moonlight winning last year causing that huge shock even the likes of birdman and spotlight there the other ones of one and wall one today at the Independent Spirit Awards was get out which we've been talking a lot of votes on 5 Live in the last few days saying there's been a bit of momentum behind it at the moment for people who haven't seen it it actually came out as cinemas a year ago it opened Oscar weekend in the u.s. Last year and it's a black horror film Jordan Peele the former used to be on Mad t.v. And he's done lots of You Tube comedian and comedy sketches he has his 1st directorial debut of a film and made a quarter of a $1000000000.00 around the planet on a budget of 4 and a half 1000000 people said it's a real game changer for a movie it's made Daniel the young British actor who started it a worldwide movie name he's now in Black Panther and so could we be in the case tomorrow there's been all this talk over months about the shape of water and 3 billboards could we be in the running for another major shock tomorrow could get out really come through in the outside and win best picture it's unlikely but it's not impossible and it's going to be fascinating tomorrow night to see if Allie on it picks up any awards could it get Best Original Screenplay Ali on in the Oscars and indicator it could won the big one in the end of the night which are expecting about 430 on up all night yeah Colin Patterson our man at the Oscars and tomorrow night it is us good night an awful night it's amazing you have yourselves ready make sure you're a red card fair and never glosses something to 7 miles you listen and enjoy the program and join in as well because Oscar nights would have be a good nights without you joining in on our phone in now the Kenyatta National Hospital in the Kenyan capital Nairobi has been hit by scandal once again a neurosurgeon there has been suspended after performing brain surgery on the wrong patient 2 nurses and niece a sister has it all of also been suspended Michael. Mann in Nairobi and he's with me now what happened here how could they have got this so wrong Michael. Well doesn't this incident took place. Last week took place last week and I should say the king at a national hospital has indicated here in Nairobi should not king at a national hospital is the main public referral hospital in the country well what happened is that there were 2 patients at the hospital one patient needed surgery for a blood clot in the brain while the other who had the swelling in the head required non invasive treatment that means the condition did not require surgery according to reports there was an apparent mix up of identification tags and the wrong man was operated on and that is the man who did not require being said 3 both of the patients were reported to have been unconscious when the mix up occurred it is reported that the doctors involved in the surgery did not realize the mistake and till hours into the said when they noted that the patient they were operating on did not have a blood clot according to the hospital the patient who was operated on is recovering with the hospital saying that investigations are under way however one thing I should note Doughton is according to one of today's dailies that is the Sunday standard there is an article here on the front page that notes that there is a family that has come out to say that the gentleman who was supposed to have been operated on was their son and that he has passed away now the has been no official confirmation from the hospital about this then latest reports we had received indicated that the hospital was investigating the issue and that both patients were recovering it's really shocking story isn't it. And you do wonder about the health of the person who didn't need brain surgery who's a president they say the the person is recovering but you wonder to what extent is there have been affected in this there's no indication of that in any from your thoughts as you said is there. Well at the moment the latest information we have received from the hospital still indicates that the patient who was operated on is recovering but I should note though that this news has cost shock and outrage among Kenyans of the country is that there has been a constant stream of comments on social media in regards to the incident some have called for the resignation of senior hospital officials while others have asked the government to ensure this in kind of incident does not happen in King at the hospital more any other hospital in the country I should note as well Don that this incident occurs only 6 weeks after the same hospital was in the news over claims that a number of new mothers admitted that the hospital had been sexually assaulted not this incident also costs outreach among Kenyans on social media with the hospital indicating that they are investigating that matter and a baby being stolen others was. Yes of course there was that incident that occurred a while back where I had gentleman apparently who had gone to attend to his wife who had been admitted to the hospital had left his 2 children in the care of some women he had met and it is reported that one of them apparently abducted the baby reports indicate that lady was found later on in the neighborhood in Nairobi and the baby was returned to the Father so these incidents at the hospital basically have resulted in Kenyans calling for a federal investigation into what is going on at Kenyatta national hospital and I imagine it undermines their faith in it entirely. Well you know they been some people who have come out to support the hospital as well on social media with some cañon saying that can yet it does offer good services Meanwhile the doctors union has defended the staff at the hospital saying that the hospital is really overwhelmed by staff shortages and inadequate operating theatre space according to them you know Michael thanks very much Michael colloq either in Nairobi Let's go below to 5 a headline sized in a camel. My smartphone and tablet this is b.b.c. 5. More than a dozen flood warnings remain in place in southwest and north east England as forecasters predict temperatures will start rising after a week of freezing weather further disruption is expected on the railways with many operators running heavily revised timetables today Donald Trump is threatening to apply a tax on cause the u.s. And this is the now that's not the time when there was also a 1st individual global medal for oil as she took bronze in the 400 metres I'm absolutely delighted and I knew I couldn't have not taken chance yesterday and put in the final and I knew how to beat up unity to contend with a good I wasn't trying win a medal so I just to get a bronze is just absolutely I'm just of the latest there were contrasting emotions though for Britain's men c.j. Was disqualified for a false start in his 60 metres semifinal while Elliott Giles was upgraded to a bronze in the 800 metres before being to bow to the again on appeal. In the Premier League Swansea with the big winners in the race to avoid relegation they beat West Ham 41 to move out of the bottom 3 and up to 13th House boss David Moyes described their display as embarrassing ultimately our performance was really poor the washes up in a West Ham to go corner kicks it in a go for a penalty kick so it was. Made. It was a lot to do just to defend Stokes day 19 the Sparta goal is draw with Southampton elsewhere things ended level between Leicester and Bournemouth Burnley got their 1st win in 12 beating Everton to one Meanwhile West Brom boss Alan Pardew admits his job is on the line after their one we'll defeat by what fit saw his side slumped to their 5th successive league defeat the now 8 points from safety Liverpool are up to 2nd thanks to its New Castle and with a place in the Champions League last 8 virtually guaranteed a young men set for an exciting end to the season. Made it through to the fall of the Welsh Open with a 6 frames to 2 victory over Gary Wilson will meet Barry Hawkins in some baseball this is b.b.c. 5 live on digits hold on while I'm smart for. Good morning that saw the new days for cost in Scotland where the cold starts today especially where you have flying snow but even in the major towns and cities this will be subzero. Says could cause a problem yet again there are widespread problems with ice so be aware of that 1st thing in the morning as you get on through the day I think the dryness in the brush the weather probably fine and cross western parts of Scotland the eastern and northern parts will be fully exposed to. East or south easterly wind and this will have the effect of assuring in further showers and tending to be wintry across higher ground. Specifically in the East you may well find that just more of rain than anything else. 0 to about last 4th agrees of the temperatures are just beginning to pick up a touch and. Start right from the word may well be the old snowfall. Peacekeeper East many areas could well stay dry as we get through the day and things begin to touch. Again turn to rain rather than anything else but. It will again be sweet to observe a range of $2.00 to $5.00. And here again record a cold start especially where you got the lying snow many major towns and cities especially in this. Is just beginning to get up to a sort of 456 degrees or so through the course of the morning and. Be hitting 8 or 9 degrees. Across some western areas as we can all through the day so I think the concentration of good rain will be found across East Anglia. There will be some bright spots but. It's up to the northeast to default on the site tonight to cover . The best life school. And 5 life sports like Maybe a series of rather foolish years now I'm going to change a lot I love this still going strong after a career that is fandom for decades and they've just embossed on the start of the inmates East u.k. They're one of the longest surviving baddest to come out of the British punk scene of the seventy's the Stranglers the diff. So if you live in one shoes and continues across the u.k. March and Earlier I spoke to the guitarist and vocalist Baz moon. This week. Is the French and their children we all had a will always will come from different areas so it was a nightmare trying to get everybody together one of the guys lives in the south of France. We actually managed to stop him from getting on the 1st leg of his journey which was good but I got a live in Yorkshire so I got 3 trains and I was on the on just about to get on the 4th tree and a local from the terminal to tell me to go so. Fortunately postponed all 3 Irish dates but we've gone back to the end of the 1st week in April so all was lost I mean it's actually the 1st time that it's ever happened since I've been in the bottom and I've been in the Bali 20 years and it's never been before so 1st time for everything unfortunately you're the English lead would be the real being that it will. Start a little launchers they think. And then of the Scotland in and all over the u.k. Men we do it every March and. In ever see says to Stan goes. Home isn't it always is it just seems to get better and better you know really after all these years Absolutely yeah I mean it's it's a thing it's a thing it's a testament more than anything to the just the injury quality of the songs and the fact that. As of progressed in the last 10 or Tennille or so years we've got a. New study inclining the venue's ago largely interest saying they were being rekindled and I think most of it's just to do with the fact that you know we don't rest on our laurels it's not a nostalgia sure how many obviously there's a lot in there. Causes a huge you know I'd like to see in history to spawn we continue to write your material and try and present things in a fresh with the setlist differently every year. And yes surprise surprise it just keeps going from good to. Better So I mean you know we were very flattered. And honored as well you know fish are so the Stranglers un you know that all men monitor their summer of 977 the Roundhouse ensure the big thing that these 2 have every Sunday. I think was maybe 5 or 6 bands playing that night probably go in for about a quid. And the other band I remember the night was a group called London the didn't really last very long very long but the drummer from that went on to be the drum of Culture Club most was not yeah yeah. I remember. Being. Everybody else. I know. Any kid I was a. Kid. And then all of a sudden you played this song does feel like a well consider is the word anymore and then I looked around and I was the only. Person in the audience and thank God a 2nd was is about it was enough and she knows there is enough a proper Not so a lot of racial strangles fans may not know who you are. Well yeah despite the fact that after I joined the band in 2000. And 7 for the 1st 6 years I was the kid softly I was 5 in the band. And the singer left in 2006 and we wondered whether we should replace him and came in 5 4 READY whether we READY should. Have. Style mainly we used to have to knock around and mess around in rehearsals just the 4 of course because the singing was in very politically it and we start with it and I remember thinking to myself you know this sounds good this could really work you know. And so yeah I'm going out and all a lot of the old fans of started common bustle of being told sport arming you know we're up to. Celebrex an academy a company called the I mean they call the the many fans little known in the band especially with the you know the Internet and the advent of just literally being able to go online and say his most was you know so. Is it the case because arguably you've been in the band longer than he who will lose a lead singer and guitarist ones are it is it the case then that this changes. As a band is greater than the sum broads. Its members would think think. Well certainly as far as I'm concerned I would say yes but of course to know how you. Quantify things I would say that the 2 trademark instruments if you like the place and the cable it's still very very much there. Are still in the bond. I think one of the one of them goes and then we could be talking about something entirely different put. The moment it's in every sense of the word it's a group and felt part of it and like I belonged to it of 6 months in in my tenure and that was nearly 8 years ago so you know it's a family it's like everything I don't succumb to all the old cliche but it is a family and you go through the good the bad the thick and thin you know and anything the only one still sells but we always were always together amazingly just still then these e-mails began receiving Well Jack doesn't live with us anymore. Hasn't fully. With those for about. 4 READY of the 34 years when he when he was doing READY he came on a really cool little paper and says. The last major 2 that we did with Jay was really 2004. When Jack took part in the party was in the school room where we are with another drama that is very much a part of the band who was playing the lion share of the set because as you rightly said is. Right in believe in the Jesse So you know a lot of the year. Even if you're making me feel. Very very. Very loose and there's no one. Is very much our tool to if you like is our inspiration I mean I spoke to. Probably wants a fortnight. And we all he is very much into what we do and where we are I keep his eye on things we always talk when he gives or sees is pleasant demeanor no. Daily daily love to still be beyond Kate put a month you know he can with all of us well in the world you know a thing exercises. That you can achieve all the h. It's just. You mention the keyboards in the drums Dave Greenfield and Judge John John Barber No. Obviously that was where that was the distinct sound physically of the 1st big hit. To. Stop of that and everything else. It wasn't the 1st there was a 2nd one well because a group of us over think was a minor here as a single before. Pieces but then you came out of the now been as bad as it's about the song was arguably rather than again individual members of the band you just had so many great songs is. What I'm going think I think you have to remember that the policy for the $974.00 so they were kicking around for at least 2 or 3 years before they are any success rate and of course as a young band of they were then. Formulating all hero you know your material in here octave a sauna call it what you like puts once we get our 1st album you've already got 3 years of songs written behind you so that accounts for why the 1st 2 or 3 albums is a strong loss or only the 1st 2 albums because they've been clear no songs for 2 years 3 years anyway. And then of course you get a difficult. Call it difficult which is where you've really got to take deep. Knots when the bond really sort of came to the fore and think those 1st certainly the 1st 4 or 5 albums. Don't suppose you know they really are and it's you know Logan I mean as I am they will be well on the inside still when we play some of those songs on a model you know. So it's I mean with a lot of said earlier you know all the old all of the unsaid we still feel that we will have an image to feel that we've got some to this is and we're in the process of writing and hopefully recording another album before too long and the new material seems to slow very well in with the old stuff and you know all the people are always asking us when the new stuff coming out so the Cape so spurts like this Well you know lose you know there is a. New Wave is a millennium of all is they all of the Above all of the above and of course they bring the kids. You know you said before your all you have to do is go online to with a will to all of us you know and you just so will go online and have a look and I mean the wealth of it's really can see on your chip in places like that it's just it's staggering I mean the some stuff on there that I've never seen and I thought seeing it all. So the cross-section of the audiences is something to behold and you know a lot of these kids want to know where all of it started and nothing more than anything the real charge of saying the energy and the power that we can still deliver a minute still if I mean if I was going to say it out still be impressed. Because it's very powerful and it's it seems to just the urgent and kind of. You know of now we're really. Small we're all you know we're all in we're in a very good clear subtly we all are in a very good image and some of the news to. 1st let's see. Which was from the album he joins. Us a favorite of mine I like. Thanks . To some extent the new comets of the destroyer you know I've done a little bit of research showed you. How drawn from the you can 1st you'll see. When I was a kid to me I want to say if I think you're going to say we're thing you want to say. I was only one thing and I was a guitar player put 'd up with the pump on some song and call the toys also. And. Yet it is yeah I mean I played a part of this for a kid. You mercilessly really. It was it was Nelly Nelly the elephant it was really the elephant thing so that's me play and biscuits are on their part go on before I came out so I mean I was so I think if I'm honest with you back. Give me the impetus. To really think that I could make a career out of painting his vision because I was touring in America with them before I was even at the meetings we went to America twice before I was 20 and we were planted so I was once a kid that predominately on the West course you know Allison Francisco and San Diego and. I mean I was just a little snotty nosed school from Sunderland You know. And so docs kind of store. Me in good stead I think. Kim Cullen of the bottom of the pond from Solon small town heroes the medical bill of all bombs it was good at the time thing and look in parliament now probably wasn't as good as we all thought it was. Both. Helm at the strongest we were we were the war walk if you like for the strongest You cannot on the 2 and 95. And they just kind of remembered make you know I had hair in a whistling in them this. Simply infinitely please only I that I would never know you go who'd been through that stage of a way. A way as. The. Lives of. The strangers to the promise of your joy the most is the come. To words. For me because 'd. Apart from anything I could stand away from the microphone in new We'll make it. 3 or 4 minutes on bridled alone kind of chuckled to vocals which is nice because I kind of little myself as a guitarist those 2 foremost So that's a nice thing to do also it's just such a such a subversive. A really lovely song and actually I know there was a pool. Quite recently where they say look at the find what the favorites cover version was all the time you know listen this cover version of a conversion of all time and walk on by we stood I think behind to something else so it just seems to be one of those songs that you played and people go oh you know. It's not divas. Satisfaction is now kind of such a go somewhere else country that kind of was bit of an error not strongest at the same you know challenges are primarily a band write their own songs or. You have to write in the vein of glory days the earlier days 1st few albums rigs or you have to keep writing in that vein as there were listeners more from Use what you should do. No no I think think. The eclectic sort of cull over the strongest of would certainly take to. Suggest that the bond just do whatever they want. And I think certainly from my point of view when I'm writing songs for the band or with you know with j.j. As we do him and I write together. Will invariably have some kind of hokey baseline in the production of the sea that will and. Through the rest of the songwriting process sometimes. You know instruments a little noise that's an interesting question I think I think. We just. To the many you know if you want to write a really soft melodic bollards. Once you give it to the of the law and it kind of course of the ringer if you like. And comes out the other side what it is is a stray strongest music it's the strongest song sometimes it's hard hitting. I mean we had a lot of success in 2004 with an album called Norfolk coast which is my 1st album but with the with the bond. That was certainly a hard hitting album but it just kind of it went you know it's hard it's hard to describe I mean like the made an album in the eighty's which was all acoustic there was an electric guitar on it it was all acoustic stuff. And there's a pro-government really progress kind drooled the. Thing which of. A lot of tone as well control that kind of thing. Almost a concept album I feel like so I guess it just depends what sort of place you're in the time you know yeah I know the after the 1st gig they're still trying to perform our member bump an incision Jack outside what was then a really hot venue in London and just down the road from the gig she was Dingell's in can only turn around and yeah I remember he was coming out was going in and you know I was at Eli's 1607 so you know. Man you know love you busy loving music and you know on the bow you read. The news please play in coon you know you come and he's never jacket you know from the jeans is looking very cool of these but it's a job. And. Year year year you burn the records you know until until you stop enjoying the men just chuck him in the bin which is a very punk thing to say back in. Bringing me answer the question the reward isn't the secret for you of the longevity. Think I think it's the. Be all anything beyond anything you choose which is terrible what we are no again you know always answers to some so contrived and and you know cliche ridden foot no it's true we just we enjoy it I think when you 1st get together. With a parent when you for me upon any time and the whole thing is to just play with like minded take the lead enjoy its success when it comes it comes. Among the majority of pals that our role was always a byproduct it just happens to call 1st and foremost the band. Just to play the Chens and so good with direction like everybody else state some of the stuff didn't work some of it didn't and stumble upon see. In the works. And I think once we come to the point where we look at each other and go you know what I'm not enjoying this anymore ducks when it stops I think because 1st and foremost we have to place also you know it's important that we don't call through the motions and we don't want to look like with force because the moment you do that an audience of source your money they'll pick one you're like you wouldn't believe as quick as you like I'll just look at year ago and now this isn't this isn't the retail anymore and I think that's just the it's just the bridal enjoyments it's just lovely to still be fortunate enough to be doing something that we look so much and that gives so much pleasure to so many people you know. They should be running for office with stages like I should know you know the winners. That was banned from the Stranglers in their own 2 cowardly that is infamous for tonight thanks for listening thanks to discard is everywhere. From one remembered to Mariner it is all scared not so we Yes flooding is expected in parts of the southwest and northeast England a snow and ice alert is still in place for parts of Scotland the extreme weather is expected to disrupt most people's today with many lines still blocked in Greater Manchester a walker risked his life after trying to remove a power cable that had tangled with a tree Chris Cox is from Northwest He reached up to try and search for brunch he wasn't sure if it was a tingle are we just felt it was unsafe he just stopped to that point when you get to 11000 volts you don't even need to touch the electrical equipment electricity can jump he really is looking to be alive felt like 50 feet of flow through him of fall actually it would have killed him.
