Shake a tail feather walk. Up to 13 weeks. And change Strictly Come Dancing the final. Series comes to an end to see 15 couple started on the Strictly journey should be in full in the final we will we'll be talking to you to injury in the week so. We only have 3 couples competing tonight Calvin Carroll also ama though each perform 3 down says they'll perform a dance chosen by the judges a show dance and their favorite dance of the series so far now the bookies have Calvin Calvin Fletcher as their favorite to win the winner will be decided purely on the public vote this weekend here are your finalists then talking about the Grand Final I've loved every 2nd of. I've really have added It's just brilliant and I'm a big believer in you know challenge yourself and what better way to do than do it in front of 11000000 people now that I'm here I just want to go to enjoy those 3 dances of course I mean look at I'd love to live be amazing but not competitive with these guys competitive with myself. But you have it you 3 finally strickly it's all happening this weekend let's talk to Vicky Jones who is the writer for the dancing times and also contributes to the Keep dancing podcast very good morning welcome to the shark a. Very very well 1st I want to say I'm very very well I have to say here and now it's been such an awful wonderful journey when it comes to strictly We don't want it to end do we and it's weird to so like the series you know excitement starts back in August and it was super super hot I remember the little one show and now where you know Christmas is around the corner and it's the final and it's all coming to an end for another year highlight of the series for you so far what would have been a. Very good question one of my highlights is absolutely Michelle is foxtrot from Halloween week to Addams Family that was pretty iconic Karim's Jive the 1st 40 of the series always exciting and I thought that was it was a high energy packed in so much it was great to be said Calvin has been blowing his away week by we what can we expect tonight that. So each of the couples are doing 3 dances as he said they're doing so there are prizing their favorite dance as well as the judges pick and a show dance in King Calvin is actually reprising his week one sound which made such an impact he came in not no one was expecting or knowing what to expect he blew out the water with this 32 hour 40 and it was incredible really made his mark so we're excited to see that again. Just coming to Calvin who's been out there you know literally is the favorite since we Quorn this money little crazy because he's shown such such flair such skill in the dance floor he's shown such confidence but do you think he's going to be feeling the pressure tonight because the public you know we've all been talking about this you look to the national tabloids it's as good as dumb the deal the glitterball is his but the pressure is going to be there isn't it I'm not sure I think he's you know seeing him in this week and stuff he seems he seems quite assuming taking it all in stride to be honest and I think you know he hasn't really had a bad dance he's got nothing to. Just go out there and smash it I actually think I don't think it's as clear cut as as you know him easily winning I think and more and Anton with this whole narrative of you know Anton being in the final and it's his best finish for Probably however long he's been on the show 15 years there's a lot of excitement a lot of people would love to see on time when so there's that side of it as well so I come back to the point I raised a few Bobak are just slightly down in the mouth that we're here in the final again it's been another wonderful journey it's been another brilliant series and we've learned greatly from those taking part the professional dancers Yeah alongside them Vicky we're going to have to leave it there but thank you so so much for your time this morning here on the Saturday Breakfast Show from b.b.c. Radio Stoke vile She's the writer for the dancing times and she contributes to the Keep dancing podcast so all 3 finalists tonight fingers crossed for all 3 Kelvin And also Emma they're going to be performing 3 dances even as you've just heard before a dance chosen by the judges a show dance and also their favorite dance of the series Who is your money on the. Radio breakfast time just talking of time 16 minutes to 9 best be getting a wriggle on if you're getting yourself ready in this shopping to be done Kevin funny or with you through until 10 o'clock this morning I went to King after the show for some free normally here for Saturday morning between 6 and 10 is all political reporter I'm sure you understand she's been a little bit busy in the one. A couple of days so bosses here at the b.b.c. Saying so if you help yourself to a lion Fearne you take in an early morning alarm call that's what we've been doing here since 6. This is the b.b.c. Radio star. Now it is of course the time of the year when you are allowed to be a little bit cheeky maybe even throw stuff and laugh out loud larger than life characters and no before anybody thinks to phone in I'm not talking about Christmas dinner with the in-laws it is of course panto time panto time there are certainly plenty of panto's that are being staged around both Staffordshire and Cheshire and one in Stoke on Trent of course featuring b.b.c. Radio Stokes very own early bird Dancy gets in Aladdin which has been staged this year at the Mitchell art center to find out more we can speak now joining me here in the studio we can find out more from Liam Burton who's playing a tin and also Matthew Di who's the genie and also directing the show Matthew Lee And good morning. Thank you 1st guys for taking the early morning alarm call Saturday morning early here in a studio before 9 o'clock that's not bad well thank you for having us yeah had to be a.b.c. Coffee stronger than any other car please tell me you didn't drink it. Yeah yeah I didn't quickly as well have ever trained just as here's a quick tip for you never ever drink b.b.c. Coffee it's great for creosote in the fence and possibly have a trick never drink it how come to you 1st Matthew called Blimey so you're playing that you know you're also directing this show so rehearsals Firstly how long are they being going and how are they coming along they are going very well that we've been rehearsing for the last 2 weeks and I've got a great cars they're all really good including including Liam is good not saying that just because he's sitting alongside what is my best mate as well so I've got. To yes yes yes yes but it's all. Well today is there a sense for you as the director is a sense of relief or terror that panto season in this particular production Monday of course it's almost here it's almost upon us as a heady mix of both really because you kind of want to make a show that's great for the family which I think we have it's a lot of fun it's fast paced but also there's a certain sense of control but I quite like I have to give it up because once the curtain opens I can't do anything anymore I've got to just let the brilliant cast do what they do let then do what den does well which is like talk to the audience and be den great one plus this year leave me which is Tell Me Off air density learnt his not yeah that's got to be a plus because then scripts lines now paper that he took in the out we just we just out the live normally that's that that's done in true study Doubleday's Well yes. He put a script down and just got through it was amazing last year at this point we were going down and then we. Said Is it difficult to find new ways guys to make the audience laugh and also the same time keep ways the tradition of pantomime Well comedy is kind of subjective but essentially we use jokes that lots of people probably used before and we create new ones because there's so much that happens in the world I mean yeah you know there's so many jokes you can make about anything and we have such a broad audience you know you can have anyone from 202 plus so we know when we have babies or anyone and anyone can find something to laugh about which is here to have a good time as well and yet in terms of things that are topical obviously politics and t.v. Shows and all of that stuff that changes you know you can you can draw on made things and we make new jokes almost every day because so many things happen in the news and you open up a newspaper and you go oh you get to make a joke or let's do that it's interesting you mentioned a few moments. Only in politics but something been happening that we should be aware of yeah minding its way into this year's Yeah it's time to call off now things and stuff like that so. Why did you decide to run with Aladdin this year well and London is a really popular show last year we did Cinderella which is more of a fairy tale and we decided to switch up this year and do Aladdin which is a more of an event just story we possibly do a fairy tale next year but we thought it would be really different something quite exciting and it's fast paced and so it seemed like a no brainer really because Cinderella is one of the most popular panto's by a lot and is equally if not more popular. Because of all the connotations. You Yeah. So I think also just quickly want to get in the conversation here you've got some local youngsters part part of the poor performance just just how important is it to have young people from within a given community involved in a show I think it's a must really. The whole show the way it's been written is about steak it includes lots of steak isms and then speaking as an outsider of the area just being able to speak to the locals and so on it's fantastic so to have people that are growing up and just part of the local scene it's so important and they're proud of it and that's great and they're playing that part nice so. Matthew what do you think it's so special about panto I think it's one of those things I certainly saw panto's when I was a kid and on a limited Liam was involved in Panthers when he was a kid as well as an actor through and through I think is important because it gives people very 1st the actual experience I think it brings families together because what'll happen is that parents will take their kids to go see a pentode the kids watch the panto and the parents watch the kids and a great time and that's what special I've got to ask. Both of you here on the subject of power when it comes to our American cousins those across the big pond are going to be very very dear close friend of mine she's a New Yorker and the 1st time we talked to a pundit It was a case of whoa there was smoke coming out of her ears I thought we did elected a new pope. She couldn't quite understand why is the male lead or one of them I only dressed as a woman vice a versa prince charming girl dressed in Guy's tights and costume it's not easy to explaining panto if you're not from this part of the world absolutely but it's a very British thing and you know it derives from a lot of. Theatre forms but we've all grown up with all those rules of saying you know bearing the villain or hissing at the more you know saying you know hello. And standing up and turning around so for an outsider it must be really strange but all I know is that we all get a good laugh and a kick out of performing yet and I know that audiences love coming in and shouting and saying oh no you know yes you are and you know they have a great time so for the Americans I think you should do more I know a couple of people here in America a moment going to a couple of American pantomimes and hopefully maybe the word will spread sprite at the same time you know there's only 11 country that chases a big cheese down a hill. Chucks along you know all of this stuff and things to be proud to be British but yeah exactly I know before you guys take your leave and we want to give details as to when the curtain 1st goes up this Monday I allowed in which is being staged at the Mitchell Arts Center and yes good news b.b.c. Radio stocks down and see how has learned his lines they share is still going to be a big big plus before we get to those final details I know both of you are very very keen to say hello to want to people and I know if you and we've got a member of the family who celebrating Yes it's my sister's birthday happy birthday Carlee birthday carry all those miles away. Out about you my friend I know my cousin James is listening with his his son now and his partner Jennifer if you're listening right guys miss you can't wait to see the show. The curtain going up it's all going to be happening at the Mitchell art center this year's production is Aladdin how can we obtain or tickets that you can go to music mania u.k. Or you can go to the Mitchell art center and get your tickets in person so we started chapter someone it's a nice picture of the Christmas period isn't it just Christmas just isn't Christmas you in the family heading off to see a favorite pound hope perhaps Matthew break a leg thank you wow thanks very much. Radius. 8 minutes to 9 the time to tell weather forecast let's head to the b.b.c. Weather Center Carrie how are things looking down below is fairly quiet at the moment isn't it weird and we've got a bit of sunshine around at the moment as well but the winds are picking up and they could be pretty strong gusty throughout today and those winds will blow in a few showers later on as well and I could tell you when tree for some in play beauty is going to be blustery and showery for time for the middle part of the day those showers should zip zip through fairly quickly so will be joy with some sunshine a thing later on in the afternoon the winds will stay quite gusty there and it's going to feel cold in those winds 6 or 7 degrees the maximum temperature there will be if you must showers pushing in overnight the winds are going to ease off the ice is going to be. Such a force for some tomorrow morning and then the same sort of story tomorrow some decent joined by weather around tomorrow but with a chance of catching a shower into the afternoon some places escape in the night and stay breezy and cold 6 or 7 degrees again the maximum temperature. As for basement extensions in England Scotland and Wales the Guardian here says that homeowners unable to climb the housing ladder because of high prices have decided to borrow down instead a London based property agent telling the paper that many people are doing whatever they can to improve their homes rather than making that move punching up into the attic or digging down to create more space nowadays in 2019 is now the more viable alternative It says here digging down and bring out of my studio town a car before we get to tan what's the year will you be doing the double in our next hour together you're digging down Barring Out of the studio after 10 o'clock and making way of course for Lucas and Rob b.b.c.
