Radio Stoke this is John Akers at breakfast It's 13 minutes past 7 now back in August you remember. That we brought you the shocking news that more than a 100 people were left homeless after the beach me every time a complex in crew burned to the ground mountains of clothes and food donated for those who'd been affected along with more than $52000.00 pounds to help the residents it's taken more than 3 months to sort out what should happen with the money but at a meeting last night it was agreed it was to be handed to the landlord of the complex he would distribute it among the residents are Cheshire political reporter Phil McCann will bring you the details in a minute but here's a reminder of what's happened so far. It was a Thursday the 8th of August when the fire at beach near began I don't know if you can pick up that crackling in the background chance is across the road from me here on rolls Avenue in crew it's for time in complex that is in flames it looked like it was under control it's just a little bit of fire in the film I could see for me from back an hour later and it's just as it is now by the return on the Sunday here already donations had been made of items to help and money was soon trickling in Jesse Reece council leader Corcoran says the task now is sorting through what's been donated and getting it to those who need it we have had a number of volunteers I try to so it's not as easy as you might think so if we've got people who are experienced in that sort of thing please do get out of my stuff and we as I say we've been overwhelmed by the response unless you know what you're doing you're probably best not going down there in the end 52000 pounds have been raised to help the people of beach near by the 23rd of October b.b.c. Radio stake was asking where the money had gone the answer was no where it was still being held by crew town council and Jill Rhodes explain to us why the money hadn't been handed to the people in need Currently the council has some money in the bank account and we're looking to negotiate with Cheshire East to ensure the money goes to your housing which is a company. Which is caring for the current life and it's a company that has all the beach near restaurants details on file which council don't have. That reminder of what happened our special political reporter is Phil McCann and has been following this story Phil remind us where all this money came from in the 1st place this was 50000 pounds well if you were in any doubt about the car and this of the people of South Cheshire John let me put this to you is 52000 pounds when we last spoke about this in October it's now going up to 58000 pounds and this is come from quite a few different fund raising campaigns lots of them online on the just giving website alongside all of those items that were donated and held in the lifestyle center lots of cash was donated online crew town council a few months ago offered to collect all of this money together in $1.00 central part of the problem is it still got it why has it taken more than 3 months to get this money to residents who lost everything do you think. Well as you heard there from the council leader Jill road she said that the reason for the delay the reason they didn't just handed over was because it has to make sure the right procedures are in place but last night the Council met to discuss what happens next with this money and we found out a bit more about the reason for that delay the Council says it actually took a decision over what should happen with this money back in September the meeting in September but it says and I quote regrettably its desire did not constitute a formal decision as the issue had not been listed as an item on the meetings agenda now that might sound like a legal technicality the council though says it has to abide by what it calls strict procedures it does say though that in the meantime while it's been holding on to this money the council's offices have been given permission to buy items on behalf of the residents of beach near to meet any requests of immediate needs of the council trying to say that although it's still holding on to this money residents haven't necessarily been left high and dry what's going to happen next fall. Well already John some of those residents have been spending their own money or savings on buying furniture the kind of stuff that people were donating this money to help them buy. After the meeting last night the council agreed that this money will be transferred to your housing the beach near landlord as soon as possible it says subject to a written agreement that would require your housing to divide this money up equally between the residents so around $50000.00 pounds between around $130.00 different households that's $425.00 pounds each now they will kick keep collecting this until the end of January we still don't know then exactly when this money will be transferred to the residents it's not clear if this legal agreement exists at the moment or if the lawyers are still working on it the council only saying it will hand it over as soon as possible 3 months now of course after that fire back in August Thank you Phil political reporter Phil McCann updating us on that story and we'll hear from one of the people who lost everything in the fire Malim Williams in the next half an hour here on John Akers a breakfast. For Paul is it Chelsea I'll find 20000 pounds for being like 20 grand a year later Port Vale it's 20 quid Perry spammer and yes he's just phoned up the. Only carrier I know I go to training. These even trying to save 105000000 quid in the bank. On the roads or looking over did at that car when I got very fast today on loads of our major routes Jason we've got big problems big big problems on the day road that's right John at the moment northbound completely closed there was a lorry fire in the early hours of this morning and it has all been extinguished but they're still waiting to recover the lorry it happened between the a 52 city road into change and the a $53.00 the Basswood roundabout but it looks like traffic can go no further than the city way Island at the moment on the northbound stretch so the queue in traffic now ease back towards the Hanford island and then going off on to the a 50 as traffic diverts that's very heavy as well coming southbound we got some very heavy traffic this morning as well between Hanford and hand church problems on the motorway as well thank you to David Emma to tell us about problems here about a mile before some but services north on the m 6 there has been an accident lanes 3 and 4 closed with cues from Junction 16 and a bit further up as well there's a breakdown between 18 and 19 so that's from Middlewich to notes for it and on the trains there are some services between crew and Darby affected this morning by some cancellations that's due to some train crews being unavailable but if you see a problem or you can give us an update on what's going on on the day road and how bad the cues are the number to call our 800 want to warn 8080. I believe the steam radiator style. Mornin so nothing nothing than what you say. During that trial where you harangue to be quite a lot. Are probably have to give in and. People just been laughing off the shelves in this country because of. The thing is what they call in Norway because of successful. Yeah they've got themselves right. This is about. It. He's been married 9 times now well you know I actually remember talking about wrong when he got married last. As I can tell we are the perfect match. Johnny Grant b.b.c. Radio show I can tell she's the one I've never met or like you know I can see that she's the she's the one I'm laffin that would be me with a minute number right there in this debate on the t.v. Last night did you see it if you didn't. Catch up. It wasn't quite 2 tribes going to war to be fair but the leaders' debate between conservative Boris Johnson faced up to Labor's Jeremy Corbin on i.t.v. Last night he was eventful as you'd expect a lot of the pm insisted he'd get his deal through the Commons in January then reach trade agreement by the end of 2020 The Labor leader said his party would agree a new deal with the European Union before holding another referendum and putting it back to the people outside of BRICs it a number of other subjects came up among them the n.h.s. Say any performance is now at its worst ever before 1000000 people waiting for operations there all the vacancies that have not been filled within the n.h.s. The Health and Social Care Act allows the privatisation of services and indeed we have the nonsense of our National Health Service being taken to court by private operators because they didn't get contracts from it let's end the privatisation within the n.h.s. Thank you thank you thank you thank you. We are investing in tax we are investing the specific items size ation going to a little bit of the ties in the n.h.s. Nor do we have any sort of course we are investing. Nor will the n.h.s. Just let me repeat this point nor will the n.h.s. Be ever up for sale in any negotiated me repeat that point thank you thank you thank you thank you we will continue to fund the n.h.s. Massively as we are we can only do so because we have a strong and dynamic economy. One of the biggest rounds of applause came with this question on the night how can this nation trust you to have the personal integrity and individual strength of character to look after our country's interests rescue us from this mess and bring us back together thank you very much and thank you just the truth. In this election I think it does and I think it very important I think it's very important to hear from I've been very clear about the deal that I've done that it is it in black and white you can read we don't know we don't know what Mr Cool but it's not just about words consciously he won't come clean with the electorate about what he's proposing best involved and all he allowed me to call about we're done please with Thank you Mr Jackson's although I think we've been very clear on our policies in relation to Europe I think we're also very clear on all the other policies that we unveiled in our manifesto on Thursday and they will be accompanied by a fully costed great book with it so every pledge we make will be fully funded because I believe the British people deserve that knowledge deserve to know what we're going to do and deserve a government that is actually not going to preside over rising homelessness increasing inequality and chaos in the n.h.s. Instead they're going to invest in the future thinking. Well that was a snap you go poll straight afterwards and suggested the public were evenly split over who won the debate let's have a word. Dr Gemma looms he's a politics expert kill universe he she will have watched last night and will have an idea of who she thought came out on top morning Gemma mornings difficult scenario I guess to tonight who did come out on top does the poll represent your view the kind of $5050.00. It's really hard with these polls isn't it because at the end of the way you just make it's just a trick to judgment about who we think did the best we don't really know there's no way of measuring so we often by say just on how well they come across how well they all answer questions so from that perspective I think Kolb indeed quite well the answer the questions quite clearly he stuck to light this morning campaign message is about focusing on public services focus on the n.h.s. But Boris Johnson did well as well because he also stuck to the message of with the only party that can get done he tried to drag all the questions that were Austrian back to break that I think they think they both do well they have their weaknesses but they both have their strengths and I think that You Gov poll really is reflects with the fact that nothing's really changed we go into these debates already knowing really oppositions on the 2 candidates so all these debates tend to do which is reinforce our impressions of the candidates anyway they don't necessarily change out these on them in the way we're going to vote in the election over the standout moments for you we just played a couple of them the trust and then the n.h.s. That yeah I think the trust that was very very important I think Boris Johnson didn't really have an answer to the trust and personal integrity question instead he just flipped the question straight back on to breaks it again so that was one of his weakest point the question about the royal family as well being beyond reproach to the Boris Johnson gave didn't go down too well and so I think Tobin did well on the n.h.s. He came across very cold suddenly I think but he also refused to outline Labor's position on breaks that Saudi ambiguous breaks it was issued was one of Johnson's main attack lines in Colvin couldn't really say what the policy or himself personally was going to campaign for his tail overnight if he were to. O'Shea and he breaks the probie Corbin's week hysteria and what do we think might be upshot of this debate. What would have changed as a result of anything I didn't see anything really will change to be honest what we know what we think about the can that we've been exposed to so long now that I don't really think that he will have any particular impact on the election maybe some of the other people will when we get all the party vote because I think debates are often better for the smaller parties so you gain more visibility to gain more media attention you know about the to the smaller parties maybe no but less about jokes when so you might see some of the polls shifting a bit in response to some of the other debates are more apt the result that they're better for the smaller party that they are the larger party last night Johnson called implied that if they didn't make any massive mistake they didn't make any major of Troilus or policy you know and outlets either so we didn't really learn too much and I don't think thank you Gemma thanks for coming on politics expert kill university like the show really is an early play when it is no clear winner. But it was quite and to tell you they. Tell us what today's top 10 topic is top 10 topic today as we just talk about this brand new fizzy drink they're launching called countries are going to do the most popular beverages in the u.k. So brands of fizzy drinks brands of tea brands of coffee brands of juice What are the most popular in this country will play next. Debate of the election campaign the prime minister accused the Labor leader of not having a clear Bracks it policy while Mr Corbyn said the n.h.s. Wasn't safe in conservative hands the Liberal Democrats say a proportion of the 50000000000 pounds saved by cancelling Breck's it would be used to boost education spending in England the party says it would advocate funding for 20000 new teachers and residents who lost their homes in the beach near a fire in Crewe and now a step closer to receiving their share of nearly 60000 pounds that's been donated for them the money has been held by the town council since the blaze in August last night it decided to hand it over to the landlord your housing has been told to share a house equally. And we will be playing you a 1st play of Robbie's new Christmas single on Friday here on Jan Akers at breakfast. Rock and by man I love his voice. I love a singer with Calvin Harris as well giant That's my opinion so if you've never seen him before he's the big fellow with a big beard in the big voice and it been with his partner a bath for 10 years they got my. You might have seen this 6 months ago where everyone wore leisure wear so everyone at the wedding basically was. He wore a camouflage number with a big gold chain and his wife Beth wore one with cats all over a. Bit like a tracksuit the amber would wear that is to be found. So they were only married for 6 months they've been together for 10 years before that the wedding was 6 months ago and according to the papers this morning they have unfortunately split up and they've got a little boy as well it's very sad this. A source close to the musician worth an estimated $4000000.00 so it's a great shame that these things happen everyone staying amicable and they have a son together who is their top priority he likes to keep a low profile doesn't want to make big deal out of it but there are no explosive rounds and isn't likely to say anything about a. Producer is with me yeah I'm a Celebrity news today well Ronan can't you know he's going to radio presenter I didn't realize he was the son of Martin can wear but I don't know we was yeah we're told by the way I don't know he was given a yes they was in the jungle talking about his dad being inspanned I was like This is brilliant so we gave him great insight into how George Michael was his godfather George Michael always used to do some piece parents on Christmas presents but you also talked about how his dad joined Spandau Ballet Gary. Ballet and my now came in one day to Garry and said you're leaving Martin now. You got him in the band begrudgingly Gary had to put my dad in the band playing instruments over. There as a realizes Mike was in on for Live 8. I'm so much in Cambridge so it's going to social media are going for but I can't believe he's revealed that about me yeah so I've now voted for him to do the next bush tucker trial. My son going to be in kangaroo bits of I got a thing to do with it and it is the to be voted in the top. So it's going to be him and Adele Roberts who are going to be doing the eating challenge tonight on I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of fear which I think this year these apps that you Burley and again I say every year I love announcing that back together and I just love hearing the stories about the Cardassian so that I was psyched for Wasn't I know it's bad but I just love hearing all the little tidbits from Kate and Jenna excuse the expression John I write 67 minutes it's wasn't deliberate. We're going to have a late start on this dentist's thing did you know probably one in 10 people don't go to the dentist that's all we're going to drill down into that in in the next few minutes but 1st let's find out how the weather's looking for the rest of today with Rich. Hello good morning a fairly dry and cloudy day in stores they will have some bright spells at times here this morning this afternoon most likely in the form of some hazy sunshine and temperatures well they're getting up to about 7 or 8 degrees Celsius to so a couple degrees above what they were yesterday but still feeding relatively chilly and as you make our way into tonight well it's staying not a dry quite cloudy with temperatures down to 2 so another fairly chilly start to think through tomorrow morning it looks like we'll have quite a lot of cloud around as we go through summer morning and tomorrow afternoon so probably limited chances of seeing some brightness and temperatures roughly the same at 7 or 8. Thank you very much Rich so not too good to be fair but not too bad either. Right let's find out exactly how the a 500 the road is looking right now you heard about 10 minutes ago about the problems that we've got we've got a lorry fire which has been put out now but the a $500.00 will be close to a lunchtime northbound Jenny Aiken is at the scene for us Jenny what can you tell us what's the latest. As you say John the fire itself eased out so you can still smell the smoke in the act it's quite a windy day so the winds kind of blow in there the smell of it but yeah the lorry as fire itself is actually out of course that you haven't dropped off or this morning just the turn off shelf and new boat we know that the a 500 northbound carriage weighs close from bus that's right down to see it away now so I can see it so recovery way taking place and as we speak there is a fire and fire engines and of course that the trucks in place set to remove the large fire itself as well but we know that all contracts obviously still closed in the state close about new day John whilst they recover the boat and they're going to have a bit of a cleanup on the hands as well because the road has melted with the fire as well a few people say it's quite a few explosions in the easiest at the time of the fire as well Joe may have comments on Facebook for. Amiable stunted. Josee said it was loud and scary Lisa in close by only she was woken up by the explosions as well but it's going to cause some destruction in the morning thank you Jenny will be back with Jenny in the next or 1520 minutes and if you are stuck in that queue and you can tell us a bit more our 101 to one is our free phone number it's 5 to 8 some figures in this morning show that one in 10 of us aren't going to the dentist at all and we're not even registered to get dental treatment b.b.c. Radio stocks trading look at has been to Hanley to find out how much you like to visit the dentist or not or not as it might turn out no I don't bother whether measure mortgage you don't know what you pay when you go in you you know before and that money problems you go in with one problem The facts are more so and is it what is it that kind of put you off is it that the cost or you're afraid of the dentist or should you never know what to I've got to go next week next Wednesday and how often do you go every 6 months so you get frequent to keep your appointments Yes Yes When I remember a couple of weeks ago and how regularly do you go to regular I have to work until the elves. Sorry lot of things along I think you just gotta we gotta get on with it if you need to handle treatments you have to go but I think it does to a lot of people going for checkups listening to that is fair in a couple has the clinical director at King dental care in bed all for Good Morning Morning Joe does it surprise you one in 10 don't go to the dentist's it doesn't surprise me actually and I would have thought that the bills would be higher for we here there are a lot of people that are quite scared to go to the dentist a lot of people just fine and I just send tests. So yeah I'm not really surprised at all to hear those I guess what kind of excuses do you hear when you see a patient for maybe the 1st time about why they haven't been. Probably the foremost to be a previous bad experience so their school dentist all. Experience with an older dentist. I mean as in previous years before things have changed things changed a lot as it becomes a everything's become a lot more modernized. So the fact that you're finding more difficult to access n.h.s. Dental care. I had a bad experience one of those that you talked about it was the day before Christmas Eve about 15 years ago to us I managed and I had to go to an emergency dentists and I had to say and they said you going to need a root canal they didn't even say that actually they said you've got a problem are you to the dentist spoke very little English but the gentleness said she want to save the tooth or not and I was like yeah so next thing I know they're doing a root canal on my tooth that will if you feel any pain put your hand out and I needed 4 different languages and 61 of them into the nerve because one of the most horrendous experiences of my life it was horrific definitely because nobody at that point to that is so I created Yeah very very difficult to trace who I wanted the people that Jodi had to be you didn't say that the dentist time trying to find problems well they do because you want to find the small problems before they turn into big problems which is why it's important to go for the checkup to have the extra eyes and to look off duty to look after you General or how and it really needs come down to prevention preventing the problem brawled with the trying to catch up to the damage afterwards what about the cost it can be quite expensive What's your view on charges and the n.h.s. Charges as well as private Well the n.h.s. Charges for then to 3 pounds. One it covers checkups and and the x. Rays and 2 for any fillings Bontrager everything in both that involves lap what the problem is since 2010 there's been a full of will to about 29 percent of government spend per capita which is causing a recruitment crisis it's being chronically underfunded and they got if I can put in government. Not just ended up being attracted to work and because the so many lies the bureaucracy. Really has reached a crisis point that the chair of the p.t.a. Is said that it can't be the base. Peace in all or how can be the missing piece in planning a budget. You know we don't want to be known as the number one country in the world where children are being hospitalized because of say it's drugs we need to be looking after a group that needs problem. And scrap charges for a checkup a scan a politian x. Rays conserved a spokesman said check ups already free for people to have the means to pay what you think the answer is to get more people going to the dentist who haven't been it needs a complete shake up basically the government takers becomes beggars who showed up we want this bad dog bad shit to save treatment they need to act on their own beggars it welcome Scotland has been buddy invested in good education they go. Into Chaos and they don't lead they have committed a petty to this cause Well I'm not completely sure about but Jeremy Corbyn say it's a headline grabber but yeah great everybody talks about that to strain they recognize and I just I just raised it could be years and years and something. Either they need to be honest right we're going to focus on a date I just provide a course service or double the budget make it retool like keep the services thank you Fiona really interesting Tsotsi this morning she's a clinical director of King dental care in bed often is the last time you went Are you one of these one in town you just don't go our 801 c 18080 s my free phone number or you can text one trouble 3 Start your message with the word listening to his a breakfast or wrap up find the top 10 top 10 beverages in the u.k. Next. News on the day road is closed northbound through Stoke on Trent this morning after a lorry fire which has melted some of the road surface a 500 County closed from city white. Through to be a 53 bastard round about the fire itself was around Shelton new road to the round half for police say they've been advised by highways England this closure could be in place until around lunchtime Jenny 8 Kim We'll have more for you from the scene in the next few minutes on b.b.c. Radio Stoke separately though a car crash causing 5 miles accuse us of the northbound m 6 in it's between crew and some bunch bars Johnson and Labor leader Jeremy Corbyn have attacked each other over bricks it and the n.h.s. And have been questioned about their trustworthiness in the 1st head to head to bait of the election campaign both leaders found themselves being laughed at by the i.t.v. Audience during some of their answers The B.B.C.'s Nick curtly was watching there was no killer blow in last night's debate nor was there movement likely to radically change the course of this campaign Boris Johnson used the opportunity to harm his message on Bret's it and to try and portray Jeremy carbon is unclear and then decisive Mr Corben would not be drawn on what shape he would back in a 2nd referendum instead he wanted to focus on the n.h.s. Claiming again that it would be under threat under Mr Johnson something the Tory leader strongly refuted perhaps the most memorable moments though came from a skeptical audience who openly laughed at Mr Johnson's insistence he believed trust was important in politics and that Mr Corben for his pledge to reduce the working week to 4 days during the debate the Conservative Party press office rebranded its Twitter account to look like a fact checking organization Twitter says any further attempts to mislead people would lead to decisive.
